Airlie Hotel

The land. Rooms are small, stuffy and smelly. HVAC unit works well, but its very noisy. Experience absolutely not worth the high price. Hotel in Paris, France was cheaper and much, much nicer. This room felt like somebody's finished basement. We talked to other guests and all.of them were disappointed with their rooms.

The property grounds are absolutely beautiful with multiple cottages, gardens, lakes, and outside seating areas by the water. Harry's Restaurant on site has great food and a lovely outdoor seating area where you can watch the ducks, geese and white swans float by. Unfortunately, the lodging in the main two-story building is nothing special and does not match the exquisite property. We had just a one-night stay so didn't get to use the amenities and activities.

What a lovely place to stay and visit. The grounds were beautiful and well-kept. The staff was great. The amenities were what you could expect at a much bigger resort property.

We were double charged for our room initially, which they finally refunded. However, the room we stayed in cost quite a bit for it to have bugs flying around in it, dirty curtains and light fixtures hanging out of the ceiling.

Cons: The lack of modernization is starting to show. My biggest concern was the lighting; many areas of the property are quite dark at night, which felt like a significant safety issue. Additionally, be prepared for a lot of stairs. If you have heavy luggage or mobility concerns, navigating the layout is difficult. Bottom Line: It’s a lovely setting, but it really needs an upgrade in terms of lighting and accessibility before I would consider returning.

We enjoyed dining at Harry's our first night and exploring the property after dinner. We appreciated how family friendly the hotel was. We checked out the pool Sunday. There were towels available and a few pool toys to play with too. While this is not a negative at all just a suggestion, some family outdoor games by the dining area or around the property would be an added bonus. Even an option to purchase a s'mores kit for the fire pit.

The grounds are beautiful. We stayed right after the holidays so not as many amenities were available as are during other times of the year. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was helpful.

Set in a beautiful location . Two weddings were taking place so it was incredibly noisy in the night .

The staff, the rooms, the grounds, the restaurant, the quietness, the peace, the beauty and serenity and customer service are all on point. This hotel is a 10+ in my book. I absolutely LOVE this place and will definitely stay here again!

Room seemed out of date, shower controls did not work properly. Staff was very nice. Bed was creaky and a bit wobbly.

Dogs should be in separate section and other guest warned, they were loud barking dogs in afternoon and next morning. Check in and check out could be a lot faster and easier.

I was there for a wedding for $300 a night.i was surprised at how small the rooms were and my room was not well cleaned bugs and spiders under my bed. Some of the buildings particularly the main building need significant maintenance.

The property was beautiful. It was remote we were lucky and had two beautiful fall days. Our room was small. The room had a musty smell. I didn’t expect the hotel to be separate sections. I thought it was a regular hotel. It was something different. The grounds were so pretty they made up for the small room. The restaurant won the property was very nice as well.

Beautiful setting but our stay spoilt by a) no TV remote in our room - didn't notice when we first arrived in the evening, busily preparing for a wedding, but meant we couldn't watch important sports game when we woke b) shower temperature never got beyond tepid c) drinks could not be served during the wedding dinner - what?!

We arrived after dark and unfortunately the narrow single lane roads were not lighted and it was very difficult to discern where to go for checkin. Even the parking areas were not lighted and it made it hard to see where to go and to avoid tripping hazards. Better lighting lighting and a map ahead of time would have helped. The daylight ambiance is truly amazing.

This was the first time we’ve stayed here- really amazing. The property is huge. It really is like a small village! Staff is exceptional. Rooms are nice and beds compfy. Cannot recommend enough-

The communication of asking a question that was challenging to get answers on, I spoke to several people and finally I called back yesterday for a 3rd time and the front desk transfered me to the sales dept, which I left a message and still haven't heard anything. That's the only part that was frustrating to me.

Very comfortable bed, beautiful room, very quiet, gorgeous landscaping, friendly and courteous staff. Will come back.

I loved the grounds and being able to have pets stay at this hotel. The home & gardens are beautiful. The room we stayed in was just the right size for our needs.

I had booked a room for my boyfriend's birthday through Expedia and soon after called the hotel about a few things, and the staff confirmed the reservation the night before our reservation. then the morning that we were leaving--we were packed and ready to go--I received an email cancelling the reservation. I explained that we'd had another two-night trip planned but had to cancel it b/c of a family emergency; we booked Airlie after realizing we could get away for one night. Airlie left us in a bind, and we had thought that Airlie would be perfect for us--in nature, not too far away, etc. I had confirmed the reservation directly with the hotel the night b/f, yet he didn't care. He made no effort to make it up to us--no "I'll take care of a room near us" or "I'll make your next stay here fabulous"--when the cancellation was not our fault at all. I would not stay here.

The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The staff is always willing to assist you with any issue. Everyone is friendly and incredibly well trained. The location is ideal for someone looking for peace and quiet but easy access to urban services, just 2 minutes away!

One half of the room the a/c unit would not work, the cable box would not work and when my husband showered he was in ankle deep water within 30 seconds. I literally had to force myself to sleep there because I did not want to relocate two toddlers at 10 pm especially since I had no idea whether the other rooms would be any better. In the morning time we were up and got to explore the grounds. You could tell how much work has gone into the grounds and we enjoyed walking all the paths. The morning front desk clerk was kind but failed to mention breakfast did not start till 8 am, so we interrupted set up when we walked in at 7:40 am. I understand their focus was on the exterior/venue experience but the fact I saw a giant glass elevator on the exterior of the main building being installed but they can’t pay for basic maintenance or cleaning staff was very disappointing. I sent a message to Airlie to let them know of my concerns and never heard back from them. I would never stay here again.

The property is beautiful and charming and the mattress was the most comfortable bed I ever slept on. Restaurant on the property is delicious. Rooms are too modern with everything gray wood and white. Doesn't really match the vibe of the property. I expected the rooms to be more cozy and traditional.

Great new clean room. Restaurant and bar not open either day we stayed. Noone told us that before we booked. Coffee was like motor oil. Mini bar was not full of much choice and very expensive! Room is not sound proof. Higher price through their web page than expedia. The hotel just needs to up their standards on food and service to be worth the price.

My sink in the bathroom was draining slow. I also found that the grounds were difficult to navigate at night.

When I said it, they downgraded us to a much worse room in the middle of the night. We had to go all the way to the front desk to get the keys to the new room. They reduced the price of the room but the experience was a completely different one from theone I wanted. Not good.

If it rains then water gets everywhere and theres nowhere to put your shoes. Puddles everywhere. If there's snow like it did this week then there are puddles from your luggage, puddles from your shoes, and wet socks.

I am away from home at least 200 nights a year for the past 25 years. I hardly ever leave a lackluster review but I feel compelled in this case. This place is overpriced. Rugs in every building should have been replaced years ago. Not sanitary. The rugs in the sun in the outside areas smelled terribly. Our room was ok. lt was small but clean. Hallways and common areas in all the buidlings need updating. Stonework on the grounds meed repair. The place has tremendous potential but for whatever reason ownership is letting it go. Staff was fine and the restaurant was fine.

The property is beautiful but the signage is poor from building to building outdoors, especially at night as the roadways are unlighted. The reservation desk could not find any record of our Expedia reservation but fortunately was able to accommodate us at about the same price. Unfortunately there is a substantial “resort fee” even if you do not use or wish to use any resort facilities.

What an amazing place. Wish we had been staying longer. Went outside after dinner with the provided lantern to walk around and star gaze. Felt like I was in the “Dirty Dancing” movie based on the property layout.

We were there in the winter, and even then the property is beautiful. Other than that our stay was lackluster. The building shown on the booking site is not the one you stay in, there are only the registration, offices, and a library in there. We stayed in the outbuildings. The rooms were clean and updated but felt sort of cheap in a Wayfair sort of way. Bathroom was dark and tiny as was the shower, which was not updated. Heard some motor or fan running all night and the blinds let in light from the outside motel style walkway to the point of daylight. Ordered a carry out from the Harry’s restaurant on the backside of the hotel. Slow but friendly service. The food was good except don’t order the root vegetables or you will get about 8 pieces of some beige nondescript lumps. All in all, I would not stay again, especially if it was in the summer when rates are much higher.

Literally took almost 10 minutes to get hot water in the shower. Towels for drying were cheap, something you have at Motel 6. I wouldn’t have expected a plastic tub in a Bed was nice, and sheets were comfortable.

Although I had a beautiful view of the lake from my room, the shower pressure was poor, and the sink fault had a faulty hot water pipe, so there was a leak in the bathroom. The room had several flying bugs when I entered. It appeared like the room had been closed for a while, so there was a musky smell. I would still recommend this hotel for its grounds!

They don't make-up your room unless you specifically request it, which you don't learn until later you call to ask why It then took 2 requests to finally get new towels. At a minimum they should tell you when you check in that you need to request maid service (which should be automatic anyway). Disappointed,

A truly beautiful location -- private with lovely grounds. The staff went out of their way to be welcoming. Accommodations were nice; good value for the money.

We needed a place to stay for one night on our trip, and this was a very nice place to spend the evening. We ate at the bar of the restaurant and Melissa our server was great! The grounds are beautiful!

Loved your hotel. The lady at the registration desk was so nice. She is truly an asset to your hotel. Would love to come back and will definitely tell others how beautiful it is there.

Paper thin walls resulted in poor sleep, especially as the drunk wedding party came crashing through the Carriage House. The loud, obnoxious, and drunk banter of the group woke up my wife and our dog. Terrible experience - we planned to stay for two nights but left early the next morning. Do not recommend.

Unsatisfactory room. Too noisy. We asked to switch and was told by Elizabeth that we could not because it was an Expedia booking. Next day, after most of the electrical outlets did not function we were moved to the double/double we wanted. I screwed up the original booking and told Elizabeth that. She would not budge in spite of saying (at check in) we have plenty of rooms, let me know if you are not happy. I called her from the original room and she said "yes, I can move you to that room" SO I drove back to the check in building only to be told she would not do it. BTW, the 2 rooms were priced the same. Otherwise the stay was great except for having to move after unpacking. A royal PAIN

Grounds were beautiful, but disappointed in the amenities and the price for what was received. A great place for weddings though. One was going on while we were there and the place is perfect for that kind of occasion.

Overall the property was nice and is in a very scenic area, but I would not chose to stay here again. The bathroom did not look clean, a lot of dirty grout lines, and didn’t seem to be maintained, like dirty or missing caulking. The sheets and bath towels had some stains, but the cleaning service did provide new sets that were better. We were really disappointed by the activities, especially when you pay a resort fee to stay there. The fire pits are by reservation only with a fee. We also wanted to go on a bike ride, which the resort advertises as complimentary use of bikes. But when we asked the staff about using the bikes, we were told they are scattered around the property and you have to go and find the bikes yourself. Not really convenient or easy to do. We only saw a couple bikes around during our stay, so doesn’t seem like they really have very many available.

The hotel had us checking on Saturday, but all of our info said Sunday. We got locked out of the room mid day Saturday and had to get ready for a wedding. They said they'd notify housekeeping, but 45 mins later housekeeping walked in on me half dressed getting ready for the wedding. They had the rates all wrong and we were overcharged. They quickly fixed that when I provided my booking email message. There are fire pits around the property but only one is for general use. The rest can be rented, but only to groups (why??? If you are paying, you are paying). We requested the general use one be lit, but no one ever showed up to light it. Granted it was 9:00, but it gets dark at 845 and it was a Saturday night.

We expected the bed to be standard and were prepared for that, but our bathroom was very small and getting to the toilet was very difficult for my plus size body. But room was updated and very clean.

We were a couple and stayed in a room with a double bed. It was fine, but the room seemed designed for a single person. We should have opted for a king!

At the last minute we found ourselves looking for a room in Warrenton. We were pleasantly surprised by this property. Everywhere you looked it was beautiful. The room was very comfortable and clean. Highly recommend.

The grounds were beautiful. Walking around was peaceful. The geese and swans were fun to,watch. The little gardens were fun to explore.

This is the most beautiful hotel. Our room was clean and updated with modern decor. The staff was amazing and so friendly. The grounds are breath taking. I wish we had stayed longer so we could have explored more. Definitely a destination wedding spot for someone who is looking for a venue.

The uniqueness of the property, already planning on going back in the Spring. Harry's Restaurant on site was a let down on service and for a bar and grill it was to well lit, (they need dimers or know how to use them) the service was atrocious.

They found the hotel to be rather charming: enjoyed a nice dinner at Harry’s & ate breakfast at hotel as well. The food was good! However, the hotel is in need of an upgrade: the shower was very small & it had mold…not a good thing at all!

I have shared my experience with the hotel staff first thing in the am upon our return from the hotel. The room had a musty smell- we thought it may clear and had gone to dinner and then settled in for bed. We made an adjustment on the hvac vent unit to make the room a bit warmer. Asleep for about two hours when I awoke with horrible burning sensation in my throat and difficulty breathing---needed to leave the room immediately due to difficulty swallowing and breathing. Fortunately we were only about 45 min from home and able to get nasal allergy medicine on board for some relief, Clearly something in the room hvac or carpets to have generated this kind of physical response.

Grounds were beautiful. Room was ok. Thin walls made for a noisy night and restless sleep. Found multiple strands of hair on the comforter. Breakfast was ok.

Room is a hidden gem. We hope to return sometime when passing through. I’m sure it’s extra special later in the spring or summer!
