Location is great for kids theres a great pizza place and icecream right across the street 5 people in the room and only supplied with 2 blankets ,no housekeeping so ran out of towels very quick and had an oven but nothing to bake with not even a cooking sheet.

The staff was amazing! The location was a plus! The room was comfortable (pillows was like sleeping on clouds). It was a great hotel stay for our family vacation. The only issue was parking, but they did have a parking garage across the street but finding one.. that's a whole other story.

The property was on the beach and was within walking distance of things to do and places to eat. The room was nice with a king bed, stove/oven microwave coffee maker and mini refrigerator plus a sleeper sofa, small table with chairs and a balcony looking at the ocean. The no smoking policy of no smoking in the room or balcony was not truly enforced as the room beside us had people smoking marijuana and it filled over into our room. We did report it to the front desk and they sent up some room spray for us to spray. I would have rather them smoke it on the balcony then in that room they were in at least if it was outside it would not have filled our room with the smell.

Loved the kitchen in our room too save money on dining out. Balcony was a decent size, the pool and hot tub was nice and towels were restocked while we were there. Housekeeping was slightly rude when we asked for additional bed coverings as our youngest had a stomach virus and threw up in the bed. We didn’t ask for them to change the bed, only for the set of sheets for us to do. We were rudely told Wednesdays were turn over day. Otherwise, the staff was courteous and pleasant.

My room was not clean run down never came in to give new towels or clean again but want a tip put signs up to tip but no effort to asst crumbs on the floor bathroom was ? pulled out sleeper sofa full of crumbs and stains

The location was close to everything. The room was not cleaned well. The window to the balcony had not been cleaned with something smeared on the inside. I had to clean the window! The light in the bathroom was like a strobe light. We had to get that fixed. We paid more for a room they said had been renovated but it was not totally renovated!! Coffee maker didn’t work and was dirty. The floors were dirty!

Convenient location. Where do I begin? Parking!! Extremely chaotic. But once you figure it out without directions from staff, it was ok. PARK ACROSS THE STREET IN THE PARKING GARAGE. Checked in after a 18 hour drive, 1145pm, and the pull out bed mattress was just springs...literally with sheets.. I was so livid. I asked for another room. The lady was horrid. I got to "check out" the other room and see if it was ok...( she knew, her little commuts and smirks set me off. She was the much older bigger lady). My 6yo walked in and IMMEDIATELY said it stunk. It smelled like stale cigarettes and wasted beer. Nope. However, I did pull the pull out bed, and the mattress on it was almost brand new, memory foam. So YES, I had switched them out MYSELF!!! Then marxhed my fat ? right on down to the front desk and told her room 224 needs a deep clean. (Probably needs a exorcism performed) Anyway, we stayed the night.... woke up to roaches on the shower curtain and door to balcony. Noise of some kinda fan outside clinking and clanking. At least they had good coffee in the lobby, lattes and hot chocolate for the kids, ( no roaches that I could see), However, the hot tub and pool were good... Yes everything is outdated and in major need of repair and cleaning. But I will say, the Housekeeprs( I didnt get their names, but every single one we spoke with, or asked assistant from, were so so sweet), Day time front desk lady were all so sweet and accommodating.. One elevator for the entire place, was chaotic, but its super fast and you are GUARANTEED TO GET A GOOD BUZZ, stress reliver without paying for it.. ?? For a quick get away or passing through, and quick shower ,this is the place. But for peace of mind enjoyable stay.... spend a few more extra dollars and go on down yonder to the nicer one. But, at least the view was pretty, and got to watch the Shamrock Marathon from our balcony. That the railing was to short for.

Roaches in the first room, they offered to spray the room or move rooms. I moved to another room then it was 3 flys in the second room as soon as I walked in. Old outdated dirty stained sofas, thick dust on air vents, light fixtures, window seals, top of headboard & fridge, behind dressers & night stands, wall paper peeling, decent gap under doorway entering into the room, someone’s old tooth paste stain on side of the bathroom sink that hadn’t been cleaned, sofa bed uncomfortable felt every spring, there was a dead smeared spider on the window looking out to the balcony when I checked it so it had not been cleaned, coffee machine was out of order my entire stay, highly dissatisfied with cleanliness of rooms. I’ve stayed here multiple times in the past, it truly was my favorite & only hotel that I would stay at when I visit this beach but was unsatisfied this time around.

We found upon arrival that there is a on site parking it's just not for regular customers so you get to park by dumpsters across the street. In our room was ONE glass 1 knife 1 fork , we requested more for our family and came to room to find they sent us One glass, I was told at checkout such was not counted as essentials and the plastic cups like in the bathroom are the provisions?? Yet there was coffee mugs plates and bowls. We were told ONLY Timeshare gets all essentials There was dried up prunes, broken plastic/glass on the floor. The can holders in fridge were gently placed in fridge but all were broken. I told the lady at the desk that ANY hotel we have stayed at with full kitchen provided essentials and when we asked about parking both times she told us well I don't own the place. We used piece of egg carton to level the kitchen table The light was out in the bathroom and not sure the vent was working as the wallpaper was bubbling up. The showers were very nice. So theres that. The restrooms by the pool had the cleanest of an outside gas station restroom. This for 200 a night,,?? I filled out the survey the lady looked at it and immediately took it to the back I told her I hope someone besides front desk saw our comments. we went through bookin.com so awaiting to hear back from them. In monopoly terms we expected Atlantic Ave and got Baltic Avenue

Liked that the sky view room on the 7th floor was spacious and updated. The pull out sofa was broken but the sofa itself was clean and comfortable . Loved location,view and front desk staff were great!

The view from the balcony was nice and i loved that the rooms had a small kitchen. I like that the hotel was steps away from the beach. I wanted to love this hotel so bad. My room smelled of urine the moment we got there and we told the front desk and there was nothing they could do about it. One lady tried to find a spot cleaner but it was locked in someone who wasn't there office. They didn't have a carpet cleaner on the property which lets me know the carpets in the Rooms and in the hotel are not being cleaned. A hotel that huge should have its own carpet cleaners smh. There was a huge stain inside my room at the front door that smelled of fresh urine. It was so hard for me to sleep at night because thats all i could smell due to the spot literally being next to the front door and bed. They closed the pool on a Sunday without warning instead of doing it on a Monday so we never got to enjoy the pool. If i would have known the pool was getting closed i would not have booked this hotel. They offer no breakfast but they do have a brand new onsite restaurant that we didnt get to patronize. We had a very outdated room instead of one of the nice remodeled ones thats advertised online. Our room was horrible. Ill include pics. The couch in our room was horrendous. I refused to sit on it unless a thick blanket was covering it. That couch shouldn't have even been in that room it was so bad smh. All the furniture was nasty and heavily stained and in bad condition. The walls were pealing and nasty. The bathroom shower head screamssssss the whole time and the shower head isn't screwed into the wall all the way so it hung out. There was so many bugs, the window in the room and living room look like it hasnt been cleaned it lord knows how long. We seen the house keeper when we first checked in and she barely was working. Mainly on her cell phone. When we seen her at first we thought there was a drug addict on the property. They need better house keepers. All in all the best thing about this hotel was the view of the beach and that it had a kitchen.

Nothing really The beds were very uncomfortable. The room smelled nasty, like mold and mildew. The "window" beside the bed let in too much light. The room next door had a smoker in the room although it was non-smoking. Walls so thin, we smelled smoke all night.

The front desk Alexis was nice but the rest was rude Me and my 5 children stayed here cut the heat on the room was cold all night didn’t even work heat didn’t kick on until morning .I even asked for extra blankets they didn’t have any .The supervisor was even understanding having 5 children cold in a room I should either get a full refund or half my money back she only offered $31.66 like make sense lady if that was you and your kids how tf would you feel I wouldn’t dare stay here if I was anybody I basically wasted $160 on a room we couldn’t sleep comfortably in shit is beyond sad

The bed wasn’t fully made and there were leftover crumbs from the previous guest. So that lets me know, they were they same sheets from the last stay and they were never changed.

The location was great, the room was clean, and the bed was not the most comfortable, but it was okay for a short two-night stay. The hotel doesn’t offer free breakfast anymore, as I was informed by the management staff. Despite this, Booking.com still lists it as free breakfast. Another significant issue we noticed was the poor soundproofing. We were frequently disturbed, and our one-year-old child was constantly awake at night because of the noise from the adjacent room. The loud TV and loud conversations were particularly disruptive.

The location is excellent! The staff was courteous and helpful. The room set-up was perfect. It is not often that there is an oven in the room. The sleeper sofa could be updated.

The rooms were outdated, dirty no water pressure. I’ve stayed there before a couple years ago. It just is all rundown now.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay! We loved how big our suite was and that there was a kitchenette and the bedroom was in a separate area. The view of the ocean was super nice and having an indoor pool was great! The room could use some updates. The drawers kept sliding open, but they were able to fix it by adding shims on the bottom of the drawers. The only real issue we had was that housekeeping were only on Tuesdays and Thursdays, unless you request it, but they don't do housekeeping on weekends. We stayed from Wednesday till Tuesday and it wasn't until Saturday that we really needed our room serviced and the earliest they could clean the room was Monday and by then there was no point since we were checking out Tuesday morning.

I stayed spring break 2026. The first room I recorded smelled heavily of mold and wet dog, with a lovely black stain on the couch. I immediately went downstairs to get a new room. The front desk clerk rolled her eyes as though I didn’t know what I was speaking on. As someone who suffers from allergies, I know what mold smells like. I had the headache from hades in that room. After greeting a new room which smelled much better, I will note there was STILLLLLL MOLD in the room. The ceiling had black spots, the bathroom mold stains, the balcony door, RUSTED. There lucky there were no refunds because I would have paid more to go to a well known chain hotel next door. I’d also go directly through the hotel instead of Expedia bc Expedia doesn’t help you once they’ve been paid.

The only issue we had was the hair dryer didn't work. We requested a different one but they couldn't find one. Overall a nice stay - we were only in town for one night.

There was no breakfast included; the staff said they got rid of it two years ago. The restaurant and bar are both closed and unavailable. The room was overlooking the beach and had a gorgeous view, but the room itself had several issues- ie, the door lock screw was not attached and would not properly close without decent force. The shower drain was broken, and several things were making rattling noises.

Tough day apparently for the well meaning front desk staff and manager. Checked in at 5:30pm on a busy Saturday evening in March. Pull out couch was opened with mattress in half and bottom sheet along with it. Top sheet was in a heap on the night stand. Trash can in kitchen “suite” was on its side. Hmmmm went back down to share with front desk. Manager apologized and said they would take care of it. Also would address stale cigarette odor. Before leaving for dinner 6:45 told staff we were leaving so they could bring up clean sheets, make pull out bed & address odor. Came back 9:30am to find sheets in plastic bag outside hanging from door. No odor and pull out mattress still folded in half on springs. Ugh. Not what we were expecting!

Property was clean and rooms were alright. Only one working elevator and you have to get on fast or else it will close and you’d have to wait longer.

The restaurant was closed, there was what appeared to be mold in the shower and the ceiling appeared to be cracking above shower.

The location was amazing. Right on Virginia Beach but in the quieter section. Close to all the stores and resturantes but away from the giant hotels and traffic. The staff was super helpful, the pool a perfect 82 degrees (it was indoors which was nice during the cold Feb visit.) Having a separate bedroom with a door was nice. One of us could sleep in and the other be up and active in the living room. The Jacuzzi had only 2 working jets, there was standing water outside of it bring mold on the wall baseboard. The place is comfy and clean but just needed updating and some minor maintenance on the amenities.

Comfortable beds and beautiful views of the ocean. I suggest better quality of cookware and to have at least a full set of cookware in each room. Smart TVs would be a great addition also

Location is great - sunrise was right in front of our room, the parking deck is right across the road. Room was clean but I rated it a little lower because it is dated. The bed was very comfortable. Kitchen was nice to have. Coffee in lobby was kept well stocked. Indian restaurant in the lobby is good. Called maintenance for AC issue and they were there and fixed the issue in minutes. It is an older establishment but it is maintained well.

There were no food options in the building. My guess is that the restaurant is only open in season. The staff was nice enough. The beach view was lovely. The room was not terribly clean cobwebs on the ceiling and other dust all over. Some of the lighting in the room didn't work. The kitchen area was much smaller than it looked in the online pictures.

It was very run down. The carpets were dirty and stained. It didn’t smell good. The hot tub had a layer of gunk around the water line and the area around it was dirty and not cleaned well. The floor edging was coming off around most areas of the hotel. The bathtub had moldy caulking. One of the burners of the stove was taken out and placed on top. There were drips and stains down the walls in the room and the rest of the hotel.

My room was fine, but two others in our party had leaked issues in their bathtubs. TV is not working. Otherwise it was a great day. Staff is awesome. The room was clean.

The first room we were given was nasty. There were small bugs smashed all over the walls in the kitchen, dining and living room. I asked to move and for some money back by they would only accommodate the move. The second room didn't have bugs on the walls but the walls needed a good scrub. I saw a lot of marks, food and who knows what else in the walls. There were coffee grounds on the counter, sand in the fridge, hair on the wall next to the toilet and crumbs behind the bed. We will be taking this hotel off the list of places we would stay when returning to VA Beach.

The AC system makes too much noise, it is very difficult to sleep while it is running.

We were under the impression that there was breakfast, because when I booked it, it said they offered breakfast, nope. If it was a new change, no one made us aware of the change when we checked in. We got a king suite, king bed was comfy, kids were in pull out couch, very uncomfortable and it took my husband to be able to fold it in. Great internet access, we had no issues there. We expected the room to be cleaned, they only clean on Tuesday and Thursdays (we were there from Thursday to Monday) so room never got cleaned. If we needed more supplies or towels, we had to call down to get and we had to put dirty in the hallway. That was ok, but again no one explained that to us on the website or when we checked in. Parking was close and easy to get to. Trolleys were available for easy traveling along the boardwalk. Peaceful little porch to people watch and look out to the ocean.

I think the worst part was the noise. Never had a problem with this before in all of the times I stayed but this time, other guests were loud at all hours of the night/morning.

What breakfast? Location was just what we needed--right on the beach/boardwalk. Shower needs deep cleaning -- traces of mold visible. AC was loud and broke down during the visit (but was repaired in time for going to bed -- major kudos to the property. Bed was uncomfortable--worn out, I think.

The property was very dirty the last guests hair products were left in the bathroom. Thank air didn’t work maintenance had to come the light was flickering off and on and the bathroom floor had hair all over it. I had to sweep the floor and the microwave was dirty. The property didn’t even offer me a different room so I left the same day with half a refund. I will never stay there again.

I was scammed out of a 2 night stay that had booked for 5 months in advance even though I was continuously in contact with the hotel and front desk where I was assured there was no issue. My sky view room was worth triple what I booked it for because of a festival that was later announced so I was basically forced to leave. Literally the shadiest place I’ve ever dealt with, it’s sad because this was my favorite place to stay and my family and I have been staying here for years but never again

The view was beautiful and the best part was I seen dolphins from my window, it was the coolest thing to see. The staff were amazing. I am definitely staying at this hotel again.

Had to change rooms when we first got there because the first room had a cockroach that came out from under the fridge. We changed rooms and floors. everything was fine after that. The new room was clean and for the most part quiet. Everybody that worked there was very nice.

I loved being right on the beach. You walk out and set up your chairs and you are good to go. My apt was clean. It had what I needed for a last minute long weekend trip. No complaints.

Luckily the occupants weren't in the room but I passed them as I was going back to the elevator. I was upset the hotel made it seem like it wasn't a big deal. Didn't try to apologize or anything. Room was no clean. The pull out bed had sand and hair on it. The tub was plugged and had to shower in ankle deep water. There was food left in a cupboard that had been there for quite some time. The room needs a remodel and new cleaning crew. The entrance was being worked on and we were covered in tiny styrofoam pieces every time we went through.

My wife and I were looking forward to a wonderful vacation but were very disappointed with our stay. Janice at the front desk was helpful, the night staff terrible. We upgraded our room to the deluxe sky view suite and were extremely disappointed. Quality of the work in the room was horrible. Molding coming off, wallpaper peeling, nail polish all over the floor, bathroom door falling apart. Some of the dishes in the cabinet were dirty. The layout has potential for a nice stay, but the rooms are rough for being updated. It looks like kids had a field day. There was paint all over the sectional, windowsill, window, bathroom wall. The tub wouldn’t drain. The door to the balcony the handle was loose. We were told housekeeping wouldn’t clean the room because they were short staffed. This was a huge disappointment and a first ever for me to experience when I am staying at a hotel. I was told to call down if I needed towels since the room wouldn’t be cleaned. I did, never received so at the end of the day had to call back down. After the 3rd day of wifi not working I had called the front desk to inquire. The night staff told me “no one else is having a problem”. Unfortunately I also had to make a call one night for it being extremely loud after 11 in a nearby room. I was told there’s nothing I can do about the floor being loud. I said it was one room, nothing was done and the noise continued on. For $1200 for 5 nights definitely didn’t get my monies worth. Extremely disappointed.

The room was nice and spacious… This hotel gave you easy access to many restaurants without having to drive.. Dislikes were the hot tub jets didn’t work, and the shower took forever to get pressure to even work. But will give this Hotel a 9/10. Will visit again.

The first room we were given it was 86 degrees. Maintenance tried to fix it but couldn’t so they moved us. All seemed ok until I went to use the safe and a battery was missing, the outlet in the bathroom didn’t work and the air stopped working. Glad we were leaving because it was already starting to get warm in the room.

Balcony was worth price but not the hotel. Very old need to up date room and no hair dryer

I came with a party of 5. We each had our own rooms. Every room was not clean. One room had a sofa bed full of Easter egg toys and markers (hint we stayed here in the beginning of March). One room had a sofa bed with drawing, juice statins, and maybe blood stains. One room had bugs, she had to ask for another room. The other room had stains on sheets/comforter and towels. Hotel smells like cigarettes. The view of the beach is the only thing that makes you comfortable.

Staff was friendly. They got my rooms beside each other. Room was clean. Easy walk to many restaurants. Kids enjoyed the pool. Hotel may be old but you can tell they are working to update. We’d all stay again.

The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable. There was not one working ice machine in the entire hotel. Also be warned - checkout time is 11:00 am HOWEVER they will deactivate your rooms card keys at 10:30 am. Then taking up precious time to go back to the front desk and ask them to reactivate the card key the desk clerk was extremely rude!

We have been staying at the Barclay for years. I love that every room is a suite - separate sleeping and lounging areas, private balcony facing the ocean - on the boardwalk. The kitchenette is an added bonus for extended stays. The only thing I disliked was this particular room had a full mirrored wall in the living/dining room area. In all the years I've never had a room like that & will ask next time to ensure we don't again.

Hello. My husband and I frequent this hotel yearly, and enjoy our stay immensely each time. We just visited for this past new year, and enjoyed the stay per usual. I will say that we expected room updates, but learned that they are in process of renovations, which should last until the early summer. We did notice also, a slight bug problem. There were two incidents, unfortunately, that occurred, one which totally freaked me out, because I was laying in bed, and happened to reach into the night stand/table drawer, and a roach/bug was there to greet me! Being that it was night time, and I could barely see made the experience even more interesting. 😫 The other instance was while eating in the kitchen, I noticed peripherally that a bug/roach was crawling near the trash can, and scurried back into the bottom of the wall ducts before I could even blink twice. Hopefully, with the renovations, pest control will be a factor as well.

The room was clean and orderly. Seems that the room has had a make over. I was on the 8th floor with a balcony and great view of the ocean. Overall was a pleasant stay and I will be coming back.

It was nice. The ladies at the front desk were funny, friendly, and nice. They even had it so I could get a handicap parking space. They called me when one opened up so I didn't have to stay parked across the street. I would definitely stay again.

This hotel is absolutely delightful! The rooms are warm and inviting, equipped with everything you need to whip up a meal, plus a fantastic family area to gather and relax. Nestled in a beautiful location, it’s hard to beat the charm of this place. The staff are incredibly friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. We had such an amazing time during our stay that we can’t wait to return!

Nice staff great view!

The location is great. The view is amazing. The rooms are a little run down. The sinks and the shower were very slow to drain. We used the hot tube. It was also dated and had some water damage by the wooden areas. The staff was excellent.

Nice clean rooms. Great helpful staff. Seasonal renovations going but not a problem.

Housekeeping was the worst I've ever experienced in 45 years of staying in hotels

It was a nice room and clean! We didn’t require much but a handicap room so we also had good parking

Staff: Tammy (3rd shift) had the worst attitude I've ever experienced at this hotel. I was trying to check in and was extremely rude, to the point I had to asked "is everything ok?" And she replied that "the last employee had left money in her drawer and that pissed me off!!" I told her " I'm sorry about that, but that has nothing to do with me!!!" Customer service is everything, and this is one of the best hotel on the boardwalk. Everyone else was great, I hope they do something about this lady before she start to drive away business there!!!

Everything was great except i had to clean the toliet because it was very dirty.

We booked a room for Jeep week along with 2 other couples. The room was very clean and comfortable. Excellent water pressure and nice hot showers. We were all placed in consecutive rooms which was great! I really wish they served breakfast…it would have made our stay perfect. I will definitely visit here again. Highly recommended.
