SureStay Hotel by Best Western Virginia Beach Royal Clipper

The staff and property manager were wonderful. the room, while updated was not what we saw pictured on Expedia. This property was right off the beach.. there was anther surestay studio right ON the beach. I believe this is the one I thought I was booking. continental breakfast was not as pictured but fruit and dry cereal. there are plenty options around the hotel however. I would not stay again I would make sure I select the right hotel that's my error but we still had a wonderful time and would come back to Virginia Beach!

Room was very clean. Having a kitchen is a bonus. Free parking. Across street from boardwalk. Small outside pool. Continental breakfast.

Only issue i had was the faucet in the bathroom would stop and come out forcefully and splash all over. Like it wasnt used for a while. Everything else was great. Bed was comfortable. Right across the street feom the beach and close to restuarants.

the juice in the front office I was traveling alone to help me twin best friends birthday. My funds were limited and was happy to find this location online. It's right across from the beach on the main street. At check-in I was told there were steps only. My room was located on the top 3rd floor in the rear. There was a weird male asking about parking in the area. That same man was in the rear of hotel parking lot where I didn't wnt to get out alone to enter the room. I never returned to stay at the room. A refund would be nice.

No freezer in fridge, had to search for an ice bucket, no hand soap just facial bars. Office was hard to find from back lot. Breakfast room was HOT. Not really anything was there at 9( milk was out, most breakfast items in the case were gone, one juice was out,etc), also cereal was stale. Pool although not open yet is small( like toddler pool at public pools). Parking is crowded and people left personal items in empty parking spots to save them.

Everything was good.

I liked that the hotel was close to the beach. My room had a refrigerator which was awesome and they also had a tv and wifi. Everything was good.

It was in a great location. The staff was friendly. Not that luxurious but I would go back.

Wasn’t aware that the property was under construction it was the second week of April so the pool wasn’t available. Location was good. We are only three blocks from our event so that was a plus overall three stars.

We thought that it was clean and up to date. The staff was very accommodating. We hope to stay again in the future.

The outside looks a lil run down but the room was pleasantly surprising. Clean and renovated. Loved that the flooring was not icky carpet. Was here for work, night shift, housekeeping let me sleep during the day without interruptions and worked around my schedule. Internet was sufficient. Breakfast room was open 7-10am. It had a waffle station, packaged pastries, bagels fruit, juice and coffee. Vending machines had expired sodas and the laundry area was only coins no tap and pay or change machine available. No ATM either so bring cash for laundry. Overall a good stay for the price. Room adequate, curtains let in a bit of light, beds were comfortable

The location is the best part. Basic room no frills, but there is a fridge and microwave in every room. Also the staff is friendly, helpful, and inviting. Water out of sink was poor.

Property looks dated on the outside. Beds though new were creaky and loud with any movement.

Location was great. Clerks at check-in and check-out were very friendly. The room was smaller than expected, the beds weren't especially comfortable, and the heater was noisy. There was also a bit of noise from the nearby street, which was unexpected for mid-winter.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. This hotel is relatively newly renovated, but admittedly the bones of the building is very thin. Overall, I would definitely stay there again. Don't expect much in terms of the free continental breakfast, cereal, juice, bagels, and prepackaged danishes is all they had. Plenty of breakfast restaurants nearby.

This hotel was surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because it was one of the more affordable locations in the area. The rooms were nice and clean, seemed upgraded, the front desk lady was uber pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended.

The first night was accompanied by high traffic(hotel had no control over) by it settled down and pleasant rest was attainable. However, the second night was extremely unnerving! With in the hotel was constant movement like the sound of furniture sliding(below or to the side of my room), and literally heavy stepping or pacing back and forth through the room above or beside. This went on all evening and night! I finally called the manager after 11pm I do believe and it stopped, and started again! He instructed me to call the front desk, so I did but NO one would answer after repeatedly trying. I checked out just before midnight because I could not get any rest. Exhausted I started my departure, after being awake sense 4:30 A. M. I was very disappointed. The lady at the desk asked for a hug of all things instead of offering solutions. She asked why didn't I call? The two associates smiled after I stayed that I had been trying to reach them. God forbid something worse were to have taken place! For $100/night after taxes I would expect much better conditions! Housekeeping staff was very pleasant!

Was unable to sleep due to loud guest next to me dreaming and running into things plus music playing outside all night. If you’re not partying, I would recommend staying somewhere quieter.

Nothing Was located next to the elevator where it was extremely nosey all night till 5 am and started back up at 7 am. Also there was lots of bright lights outside our door shinning into our room which was extremely inconvenient.

The manager was amazing! My room was right in front of the elevator so it was extremely loud all night 5am till 7am was the only quiet times. Also very bright lights outside the room Shining into the room. Was very inconvenient.

Upon arriving at the SureStay Hotel by Best Western, I was told I did not have a reservation, there was no more room, and that the hotel would not assist me in finding alternative accommodation. I did not exist, according to their records. I experienced lack professionalism and pure incompetence. I would avoid this place if at all possible.

Parking was very limited and having to park on the backside for a room on the front side of the hotel. Pulling out of parking lot on the side of the building has blind spots.

Staff was very nice! Everything was as pictured online. Room and bathroom were both very clean.

Clean room, a bed and bathroom were all that I needed and they provided. Parking was easy. Across the street a large hotel played outdoor music all day and night. That was annoying but not the fault of SureStay.

Josa at the front desk was so welcoming. She made our stay wonderful and will definitely will come back to visit her. Room was very clean and comfortable. Unfortunately there were annoying neighbors but by no means that was the hotels fault.

When we first checked in the man and woman at the front were bickering like a married couple. The room smelled musty, and the mattresses were just sitting on a flat wooden frame. Every time you leaned against the bed or sat down on it with mattresses with slide partially off the frame.

Overall not a bad stay, just not a great one either. It's worth the asking price

I stay in this hotel twice a year and enjoy every moment of my stay there. Very clean, close to the beach, lots of shopping and dining options. But the most amazing is the staff who are always there to help with your requests. I only mentioned in my check in review that I missed the coffee maker in my room and five minutes later the hostess was at my door with the coffee maker. Thanks to the people who run this place.

The pool is the size of a backyard fish pond. It is NOT “on the beach” as stated & it does not have an ocean view. It also has a similar name to a nicer hotel down the street. I must say that the desk clerk did try very hard to right things & allow me to stay at their sister hotel (with the view & on the beach) However, I still don’t see a refund on my credit card.

I stay at many hotels in the US because I travel a LOT and I can honestly say that I had the absolute BEST experience at this hotel . SureStay by Best Western Royal Clipper , words can not describe how AMAZING you treat your guests ! I was sad to leave because I was treated like family and Josa at the front desk was wonderful, as well as the Manager he was such a kind hearted respectful man and both of them go above and beyond with everything they do there . The area is so safe and about a 2 minute walk to the beach . The rooms are spacious , very clean and when I first walked into the room it was like a breath of clean fresh air . I'm a person that notices everything, every detail and I have ZERO complaints. I stayed there with my son and we attended the Nas Oceana Air Show so the hotel was completely booked and it was quiet , relaxing and overall just an amazing experience. We also got to see the ocean from our room and the jets including the Blue Angels flew right over the hotel . My son and I thank you so so much for the amazing experience and we will definitely be back next year for the Air Show to stay longer than 4 nights, we may even be back sooner . Top of the line service , amazing staff that treats you like family, safe , fresh and clean , short walk to the beach, great price , free breakfast , on site parking , the list goes on with the great amenities this hotel has to offer. I highly without a doubt recommend SureStay by Best Western Royal Clipper!

I spoke with a lady named Josa and she was so sweet and nice she gave us great information and was very helpful in every way.

I was so pleased with the time I spent at SureStay. The dryer was broken and the soda machine stole my $1.75. But luckily there's a laundry mat one block away and I had money for door dash. You can tell they were strict but I like that, it's reassuring. And BONUS: The front desk manager is a retired deputy sheriff! So this hotel's got muscle!👊I knew I was safe. I love the vaulted ceilings, yes it was clean and the staff were helpful and accommodating. Breakfast at 7:00am and free coffee all day! It was sweet! I will be back!

We recently stayed here for our first family vacation, and we had an excellent time. The staff were kind and accommodating and the entire facility was clean.

Came in to town for a concert, speedy check in, very well maintained and clean property.

When my mom went to the office she was talking to the older lady at the front desk and she was very rude..the gentleman at the front desk was excellent..

Bryan went above and beyond for me and my family and made sure we were taken care of thank you!

The room had a very strong smell of mold and humidity. There was mold in between the picture and the glass of the frame, the paint on top of the beds was peeling, the beds were damp. Housekeeping came and “cleaned” the AC by spraying it so it wouldn’t smell anymore. I requested a different room but then there were roaches going into the AC on this one. I couldn’t spend not one night there. I had to cancel and I was charge for two nights anyway. Horrible experience. Manager yelling at housekeeping. When I told manager I needed another room as my daughter has severe allergies and couldn’t stay in a moldy room, she got very mad and aggressive. Asking if we had touched anything in that room because they need to sell it to someone else then. When returning the room key, she was very rude. Not recommending this hotel to anybody!

Everything went smoothly. The room was nice. I really enjoyed the shower. The sink had low water pressure. Right across from the beach which is a big plus.

Liked the location to beach and boardwalk. AC's need to be upgraded. The unit was putting humidity into the room rather than discharging to the outside, which led to a very sticky and wet interior room.

Oceanview was a stretch of a description as it was only when you opened your door from the walkway. Breakfast was pretty much grab and go. The water pressure in the rooms was very weak. The curtains were not sufficient to block out the walkway lights. The pool was extremely small. On the positives, the staff were very nice and the location is safe and convenient to the boardwalk. The AC in the room was superb and the bed was comfortable.

But we get yelled at Because we DID NOT SHOT THE BREAKFAST ROOM DOOR Why the management cannot think of Installing a Self Door Closer to Prevent Whatever we got yelled at FoR 😳😳😳

Pictures are very misleading and not worth what I paid for. Upon arrival there was someone in my room. Beds are very small. Bed sheets and towels were sandy sink was clogged toilet was leaking. 2 men from the staff followed my daughter and niece around the hotel making them feel very uncomfortable. Sofa bed was rusty and disgusting. Pool was very small. We tried getting refunded so we could find somewhere else to stay but they didn’t give us anything back since I booked through expedia. Not worth it very disappointed.

The people at the front desk super nice. People all over the placeat all hours of the night. I went down to our vehicle and there was a drug deal going on in the parking lot right next to our vehicle. Felt very uneasy not safe at all.

The hotel is non-smoking and they made sure to tell us to not smoke on the premises or in the rooms (we are non smokers) however the front desk area reeked of cigarette smoke and I had to get my children out of there quickly. The 1st room had ants on the headboards and on the bed/pillows. We went to the front desk and notified the front desk and she handed my husband a bottle of raid, then took it back and my husband said we needdd a new room. We went to check another 2 rooms that were not in conditions to sleep in. 1 smelled horrible and the other had a huge puddle next to the AC unit. By the 4th room, we were able to check-in to. Mind you, it was 11 p.m. and with 3 young children, this was extremely inconvenient. The room we stayed in was ok for the rest of our 3 night, with the exception of rock hard beds, mold in the shower glass and the AC would take a while to kick in sometimes. I would not recommend this hotel for families unless you really had no other choice.

Staff very pleasant and accommodating. The room was small but clean and updated. This is a very basic motel with a very tiny pool (4 lounge chairs). It is not beach side but is just a short walk. The price was definitely expensive but I do understand that it was a weekend in July so all hotels close to the beach are extremely overpriced. I paid over 700 for 2 nights and felt a little short changed. The included breakfast was a non event, a tiny room filled with families in line for a bagel. Went to a nearby Dunkin. Staff were all very pleasant though, thus the 3.5 out of 5 rating.

The rooms were clean. There was only one outdoor elevator and the wait time was difficult in the heat.

Slow elevator, very small pool, but okay for a short stay. The office is a separate small building in the front lot so this adds a sense of security, in my opinion.

Not much quiet with fighter jets flying around most nights. The motel is also on a busy intersection. However this noise settled down by 11. Close to the beach with many families enjoying it.

We ended up leaving early for several reasons. The room itself was dirty like leaving stains on the bottom of my feet dirty the AC unit in the room broke the TV wasn’t working and also the pool was gross. It looked as if the filters weren’t working, which leaves stagnant water which intern is a reading ground for mosquitoes. When I made the front office aware of these issues, they didn’t even offer to move us into a different room. They literally put in a new AC unit with us still occupying the room. The only thing nice about it was that it was close to the beach and on top of that when we left early, we were not refunded for our stay.

Firstly, this should not be labeled as a hotel. It is a motel. Everything else in the area for a reasonable price was sold out so this was a decent last resort option. The room was very clean aside from a few long strands of grey hair found in the bathroom on the towel hooks. The bed was comfortable enough and the AC was functional. There’s really not much else to critique. It was a very basic room. The one elevator that they do have was a little annoying. It was very slow and on my first day of arrival it never came down to the main level. Perhaps someone was holding it open for a cleaning or something so I had to take the steps to the fourth level, which was not pleasant carrying a suitcase. On the first day of my stay, the bathroom had no hand soap.

For the type of Hotel it was I I didn’t set my bar too high, and I was pleasantly surprised

Biggest downside was the doors. They were difficult to close. Once I figured out how to close the door it was OK but it should be easier.1 night when I returned to my room At the end of the day The room door Was found to be open by about 2"And I think what happened was that housekeeping came in And had difficulty Closing the door Because nothing was missing From my room Bathrooms were a little tight And The toilet was very low to the floor, Which might be an issue for more elderly Customers. Breakfast provided free And it was okay

Very affordable and not far from the beach and boardwalk

elevator was not working the place. It was mess, not clean everything. It was not the same as what it shows in the website.

The staff was very friendly and helped me find what i needed. I had broken my foot during an event and they made sure i was taken care of and felt safe. The hotel is very simple but comfortable. I had a nice view of the ocean from my room. Breakfast area clean.

Stay at this hotel twice a year. It is as good as it was several years ago during my first stay there. Every time I see some little improvement like complimentary breakfast or restaurant vouchers. The staff is very friendly and they always do their best to make guests feel comfortable.

We visit Virginia Beach for the weekend and the room wifi is not good at all we were unable to use it besides that everything is good. Excellent location.

Cons: Older property that shows its age, extremely firm mattresses, no hot water Overall, it was decent, and I would consider staying there again

Room wasn’t comfortable, tv didn’t work, light didn’t work, curtains broke, roaches and a bad smell.

I walked in my room and the trash cans were filled with trash room smelt terrible toothbrush laying on the sink counter. Beds unmade like someone had just slept in them
