Ocean Cove Motel

We had a kitchenette room - located on the 3rd floor. It was a walk-up. There were issues with the lock but we sorted it out. The kitchenette had no cutlery, no glasses, no dishes. No paper towels. No kettle - making tea in a coffee maker tastes badly. The air conditioner was very noisey. There were no drawers, not enough coat hangers. I had to ask for a second set of sheets and a pillow for the pull-out sofa. No hairdryer or iron/ironing board. And the shower curtain needs to be replaced. The water stains were highly visible.

Great staffing. Room was clean. Great location. AC worked good and beds were good! Owners were nice and accommodating!!!

It is a very nice place to stay. Beds are very comfortable. Room are neat and clean. The staff is courteous and helpful. Several places to visit and restaurants within walking distance... and just a few steps away from the ocean.

This is a gem in the downtown area of Virginia Beach. I could not have felt more welcomed or taken care of. I wish I could have stayed longer! And the oysters Rockefeller at C D Shuckers, a block and a half walk nearby, were fantastic, along with the fun crowd! I hope to return soon.

The front desk man was very informative on the best nearby locations and helped fix a toilet issue. The room was very comfortable and reminded me a bit of home. I assumed they would have silverware to go with the mini kitchen, but didn't. The deposit seemed higher than the last two places I stayed.

The owner Stevaaaan was awesome his hospitality was excellent, he is a very nice guy to chat with. The rooms were clean and close to the beach. Overall a great deal and great staff and location. Priced very fair for what you get and the location. Thanks for the great stay.

But.. the reason this property gets a 10/10.. was simply do to the showers water pressure. It felt like a fire hose and was great to shower off after being in the ocean.

I was not at all pleased with the fact that they advertise a microwave and the room and when I got there was told that I was not allowed to have a microwave. Also I was robbed out of my security deposit which was not mentioned in the price and they refuse to return it and also did not allow me the opportunity to have my room checked before I left. I was accused of smoking in the room which is not true I was told to leave my keys and they would check the room later that it would be okay and they kept my security deposit and refused to return it. I have had to file a report with about a business bureau and I'm also letting you all know that is not a place to have on your listing and not recommended by me. This was our 4th year staying here and will stay again. Went with a room with a kitchen & table this time and it was well worth it. Not fancy, but a more important for us is very clean with tile floors. Family owned and all their staff are friendly.

My prediction is they'll try to reply with their so-called "evidence" about our nonexistent/absent pet, but don't believe a word of it. They probably found a little pet hair on the floor from our clothes and figured they could get away with lying about us and keeping our deposit. Don't stay here unless you don't care about not getting your deposit back for bull crap reasons.

Cons: it is not the most up-to-date place if you need refinement in your life. Little crowded, little older, nothing fancy. Pros: All the mechanical / building details are in place and working fine. A/C was nice and cold. Full size fridge and oven. Shower had none of the damage that I've seen in far too many other places, with cracks or loose fittings; everything here was put together and ship-shape. My room had a small view of the ocean. Quieter at night than I expected, but the A/C fan probably helped that. Wi-Fi strong as could be. Bed comfy and perfectly adequate. Very clean room inside and out, they swept the corridor daily. Zero noise from other rooms. I was able to work from the room and walk to entertainment, equally comfortably.

You can tell that Steve and everyone there puts a lot of effort into the business and really cares about the community of Virginia Beach. We will definitely be back to the Virginia Beach area and will be staying at this location. I would 100% recommend this inn over any big hotel chain.

The owner was excellent! We chatted about the trip, the area, and that he is a diver and has dived with sharks!! The atmosphere felt very welcoming and clean. The area had lots to offer. This was one of the best trips we have ever taken and it was thanks to this gem. It was perfectly located central to the beach and everything in the area. He have us a tour and told us of the history there. I would hands down go back and stay here again. Highly recommended if you are looking for the best!! Very cozy and affordable!!

Had a kitchenette but they didn’t have cookware (management let me borrow 2 small pans from his house that he wasn’t using) and you have to ask for plates, silverware, etc. due to covid but they do also have a grill in the backyard (you have to provide your own charcoal and lighter fluid). You may want to bring extra pillows because the 2 pillows they provided were a bit thin and when I asked for extras I was given a thick one so I used that pillow and my boyfriend used both of the original pillows. It is a motel so you will hear a lot of outside noise, and I heard my neighbor’s alarm go off at 8:00 every morning so the walls are thin too but I’m a light sleeper to begin with.

Steve, the owner, was extremely friendly and helpful. (He even helped us carry some things to our room). The room was clean and comfortable and only a block from the beach. Good restaurants and a boardwalk stage for bands were also found within a block. Would stay here again

Went out to visit my daughter who is stationed there in the Navy. I come from a housekeeping background, and honestly took bleach wipes just in case. This place was by far one of the cleanest motels/hotels I have ever stayed at. If you want an amazing location, great price, and clean, well this is definitely the place. The owner and son were so nice, and housekeeping were so helpful. This will be the only place we stay when we come back!

Stayed here while in town for business. It was for 5 nights. Nothing special or over the top about the hotel. The room was very spacious, (although not needed) it had a small kitchenette. It was clean but not thoroughly, I did some extra cleaning when first checking in since I was going to be there for a few days. If I was only staying 1 night it would have been sufficient. The Co-owner (son and father team) who checked me in was super pleasant and accommodating. Overall, if you’re in Virginia Beach, this is a decent hotel at which to stay.

I was lucky to find this place. This was my second time here in the last 3 weeks and I will continue to come back. I travel for work so finding a place like this is awesome. The rooms are clean and it's a block from the ocean.

To start with the check in was easy and the people were very friendly this is a no frills kinda place our room was very clean and the price for a last minute get away was great.It was a very short walk to the beach if you are older or just had a hip replacement maybe call ahead because in our case we were on the top floor and after walking all day in the heat I thought the 3 flights of stairs were going to do us in. So overall it was a good experience it was a clean place to sleep and we enjoyed our little getaway.

I didn’t like the 3rd floor steps with luggage..there was no elevator. My bed was broken and it was so uncomfortable, I didn’t like the old smell due to the age of the hotel there was no phone to the front desk so my husband had to walk back down all the flights of stairs. I must say a great location and restaurants it was a walk across the street to the beach and the owner was pleasant at check in also it was clean for it to be so old. If they remodel I would revisit.

Lights by the bed didn’t work due to a faulty electrical outlet. No phone charging from the bed. One working outlet in the room to charge a family of phones. Not noise proof at all, there was street racing and fights outside until 3 a.m. No microwave and the fridge was on the floor. No elevator to transport luggage to the 3rd floor, this was awful.

Exceptionally clean and caring staff. Friendly locally owned family business. Stayed in the area to visit family stationed in military. This is our new "go to" spot when vacationing in the area. When I arrived I was told that the reservation had been canceled. I had not canceled the reservation. They offered the same room to us at an ADDITIONAL $200/night. I declined and we drove 3 hours home.

It was good service. The shower made a noise when taking a shower which was annoying. It was close to the beach tho so that was the best part.

This is a 2 star motel, nothing fancy, but it is 1 block from the beach. I would not stay at this motel again. Dont cheat yourself, treat yourself.

Location was great, staff were nice, and room was clean. Bed was uncomfortable and low to the ground, but great stay for price!

It was terrific. Although reviews said otherwise, my stay at the ocean cove is as far from a bad time. Beds were super comfy and the service and staff was nothing but friendly. Definitely Recommend

Overall it was fine. Great location 1 block from the beach but the room smelled very musty and the refrigerator was loud and kept me up at night. I am usually not bugged by that stuff, but for some reason I got a weird vibe from this place.

The staff was nice at the front desk during check-in and check-out. The room was spacious but was humid. Nice stay, noisy area, which is good if you want to be in the middle of everything! but not for you if you don't. I liked it because there were many places to eat and visit within walking distance. The beach was close and within easy walking distance.

We stayed here only because it was pet friendly. When we got there we had to call someone to meet us to get our room because they dont live on site. After arriving we were asked to give 40 for a security deposit, that we wasn't aware we had to pay. The owner pretty much wanted extra money for every little thing. He even questioned my friend about the age of her children thinking she had someone else in her room. We had a visitor come from down the street and the owner even wanted their ID and tag number PLUS 15 dollars for them to visit AND 15 to park. Now here's the kicker, upon leaving he slides me a receipt and says "I need you to sign this." I asked what it was for, and he said a pet fee! He had already MANUALLY punched in my card info and charged my card 85.50 without my card, without talking to me and without my permission. If there was going to be any charges for the pet fee it should have been included in my total. Or better yet, stated that there would be an extra fee. This man and his wife are very unprofessional and rude, so unprofessional that when we checked in he got my friends ID and didn't return it until we all checked out. Remind you, we saw and talked to him several times on our stay because he was questioning the teenage kids about who they were. They never cleaned the rooms, we had to go pick up and drop off towels, the floors were nasty, the toilet took 3 times to flush and get it down AND the TV didnt work! I would NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE!!

My boyfriend and I needed a place to stay on fairly short notice on a visit to Virginia Beach, something that wasn't going to kill us money-wise either. After some searching, the Ocean Cove turned out to be a pleasant place!

We were extremely pleased with everything!

This is one of those situations where you can't judge a book by its cover. Pleasant experience all around, but the photo show it as a lower end establishment.

WAS VERY CUTE, AN ADORABLE APT FOR A BEACH WEEKEND

Our family wanted a large room with kitchenette that was close to the beach. Ocean Cove Motel was the perfect place! This little gem was clean, quiet and nicely furnished - it is not a brand new building but maintenance has been maintained and everything was in order. Steven and Steven Jr were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay - they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We were, literally, a five-minute walk to the boardwalk/beach - right in the middle of everything! The wifi worked without a hitch and we even had free parking. We will stay here from now on when we come to VB. Cannot recommend this place enough!
