Hyatt House Virginia Beach / Oceanfront

Breakfast staff was amazing and attentive. Check in also went smoothly. The only complaint we have is that when we asked for more towels we were told it would be an hour and then we never received them. The phone in the room didn’t work so we couldn’t call down to ask about them. After being in the beach all day and then taking care of the children we just needed to shower and having to go back downstairs just to check in on the towels wasn’t possible.

The hotel is right on the beach. So you can walk out from the building to the beachfront to what they call the boardwalk area along the oceanfront. The breakfast was a hot breakfast served until 10 AM and the rain was very comfortable, quiet, and clean. The staff were all very, very friendly! We were on the 18th floor and had a beautiful balcony view of the ocean. We felt even more secure because you had use your card key to get on our floor. The King suite had a comfortable pullout sofa. Parking was across the street and $40 per night. The area seems very safe and lots of restaurants and ice cream shops nearby. My family loved it and would definitely go back there again.

The staff across the board were excellent! Very helpful and extremely courteous. Only issue is had was the parking garage and fees. Be prepared to have a 259 dollar hold on your card for that and damage fee that you should recieve back within a few buisness days

My family and I travel to Virginia Beach every year this is the first time we stayed at the Hyatt. We got there early our room wasn’t ready, which is understandable. When we got to our room, the bathroom room was not locking, and the balcony had a huge gap, I have a five year old so i wasn’t comfortable at all with my kids going on the balcony. We called the front desk, spoke to Mike the manager, they sent someone up to fix the bathroom, they saw the balcony took pictures and gave us 50% off the room stay. The next day, close to midnight, we saw a roach crawling by the bed, we saw a second one on the wall, we caught it and took a picture and call the front desk immediately. It was midnight, some of the kids were sleeping had to wake them up, pack all the bags and move to another room. Honestly at that point I didn’t want to stay at the hotel at all. The guy at the front desk name was Ralph, he was really nice to us, customer service was on point. The next day spoke to the manager Mike, he said he could only give us 50% off again. Honestly I don’t expect our stay to be free but I feel like we should have been compensated more, we found a roach, that’s disgusting for such a high end hotel. I felt like they could have offered more than that. I would never stay here again.

Hiding fees checking in we did have to pay an extra $164.00 upfront but after checking out we did receive $80 back the very next morning just wish they could of been more clear about the fees., breakfast was terrible we stayed 4 days and it was the same nasty food everyday for $1800 it could of been better.

The staff were nice, and the breakfast was really good. I just wasn't happy with the housekeeping. The trash in the bathroom wasn't emptied & they didn't leave any soap. They only had to come once during my 5 day stay, so this was unacceptable.

I loved the staff at this property. A few staff who stuck out to us were Ralph, Robert, Cem, and Freddie. They were very friendly and accommodating. They helped us any time we had any issue. The only downfall to this property was that parking isn’t included in the booking price which I did not realize.

Great location. Very comfortable beds and fantastic views from the balcony. The staff was friendly and the buffet breakfast was good. We had our hound dog with us and they have a lovely area for dog walking. Parking was right around the corner and the daily rate was reasonable with the hotel discount otherwise it would cost more than double the charged price. Everything was great.

Hotel was very nice, very clean, staff was nice and the bar was good. Breakfast was wonderful, nice that it started at 630 as we were here for a sporting event that began very early both days. Only wish is that i wish that i knew i had to pay for parking, which was not a big deal. Wonderful property!

The hotel is very comfortable and clean. The restaurant needs to be upgraded to match the hotel. The menu was extremely limited for dinners with too many items like pizza, flatbreads, tacos and hamburgers. The breakfast was sufficient but the food was clearly made from frozen to plate. Eggs tasted like boxed and hash browns were definitely not fresh!

Our room was very clean, with comfortable beds, a huge bathroom and an unbeatable balcony overlooking the beach. The breakfast provided was hot & tasty.

Property itself was great staff is horrible and felt very discriminated and made me feel like I was a criminal. Staff is horrible. Operations manager kicked me out of my room. Came in the room while I was half dressed saying I was late for check out when front desk approved late check out. She told me I was trespassing and I had to rush out with my two daughters and mother. I had to call police to be able to get all my stuff in the room before I was forced out because I was 10 mins late amid check out. It is on camera I have videos and will be reporting above and reporting to Virginia Beach news and all because I was there for cheering competition and girls weekend and ended up a horrible weekend being taking out like criminals because I was 10 mins late leaving. The manager was disrespectful and sarcastic. I have never felt this way in my life and feel embarrassed for my 2 year old daughter my 10 year old daughter and my mother who suffers anxiety and depression very bad.

Great property and front desk staff. Breakfast selection just ok. Breakfast staff were a bit intrusive. Constantly watching and getting in the way of guests. They were likely bored and just trying to help but it made for an unpleasant environment.

I like the ability of having a laundry at this hotel. Pool was small. Kids usually have the pool. It would be nice to have time for just adults even if it’s late at night would help.

The breakfast was not that great. This feedback was also shared with the front desk staff and they did say they were working on it. Hopefully it’s resolved by our next visit, and we’d love to see the restaurant open a bit later.

Property was fairly priced considering its condition. Bathroom sliding door was extremely loud and squeaky, TV display stand was wobbly, bathroom door didn’t lock, water pressure was average, pool was fairly generic and small, and balcony was very small. At the same time, this is about what you’d expect for what you pay for here. It’s not overpriced as a hotel compared to others in the area. It does offer amazing location right on the beach, easy access down to the ocean, lots of good restaurants up and down the boardwalk, short walk to Neptune Beach, and amazing sunrises in the morning. Beds were comfortable, plenty of space for 5, and if you’re not planning on spending too much time at the hotel, it’s a very good bargain.

Very nice hotel; staff was friendly. Breakfast was good each morning. The only thing that I didn’t like was not knowing about certain fees upfront. It’s $20 a day to park in the garage. That was not included in any of the information before booking. They also charge for one night a couple of days ahead of time, which again, was not mentioned before. Might have gone with another option had I been aware.

The hotel room I was given was extremely dirty. The walls were covered in dust and insects, the mosquito net was full of animal hair, and the bed was also very dusty. As a result, I developed an allergic reaction and was sick for two days.

Our room was clean and comfortable had a beautiful ocean view. We watched dolphins swim along the coastline. The front desk clerk made our stay exceptionally wonderful; he extended our checkout time since my daughter had a class at iFly. This helped make our stay more relaxed and I didn't have to stress about finding another parking spot. We will definitely be back!

The check-in wasn't the best. I booked a two bed queen. The lady tried giving me a one bed King and wasn't friendly when I corrected her. I'm also handicapped and requested a lower room. She wasn't accommodating with that either. Thank goodness I wasn't alone. The room itself was really nice and the view was amazing. The pool was pretty small, but the area was clean, minus the bathroom. Breakfast was great and the ladies were very friendly and hospitable. Parking is a mess. It's located a block around the corner and was told to park on floors 3, 4 or five. If you're bringing a lot or staying for a while, it's not convenient. Overall it was a good experience. Hotel is directly on the boardwalk near the horses

We had a spacious, comfortable room with a balcony overlooking the ocean. The staff was very kind and helpful. The only negative was that the sofa bed my daughter slept on had a paper thin mattress where you could feel every spring. But otherwise, the hotel was conveniently located and excellent.

Tried to reschedule- was told no. Hotel.com said it was up to the hotel itself after the hotel said reach out to hotel.com. Hotel.com reached out to the hotel supposedly and they said no amd only agreed to reschedule if I paid an extra 270.00 after I already paid almost 300.00 for the room

hotel accommodations fine - staff horrid. My daughter, her fiance and their 7 mos and 20 mos called for an early check in and were told they did not have a reservation. Then after calling Expedia, they magically found it - then they found it. Upon arrival they were. told the reservation was for only one night not 2. We called Expedia and they contacted the propoerty again and magically they found the reservation. However there was a billing issue with the 2nd night as it was still outstanding. They refused to check them in and have myself (my gift to them) talk with them. They stated it is there policy to refuse to check someone in when they have a confirmed reservation that is paid, when another night is still owed. It was 24 degrees outside

Staff was courteous. Room was just ok. Top dresser drawer kept coming open about 6” and would not stay closed. Receptacle in the bathroom was not secure so that didn’t feel safe to use. Refrigerator had no area to freeze anything. The room was clean, staff were nice and it had a great view.

When it’s cold, it may be too cold to travel further away from the hotel on foot for most food options. Parking in the immediate area is hard to find without paying a lot and/or a long walk. So just dress warmly. Right on the boardwalk, got to see beautiful holiday lights (there for thanksgiving weekend). Would stay again.

The parking situation should be free since customers have to walk down the block and around the corner to park your car! For that reason I may not stay there again.

The hotel's location was convenient for nearby dining and attractions, which saved time during my trip. Breakfast offered a nice variety to start the day, and common areas felt welcoming. Overall this was a five-star stay - dependable service, clean rooms, and a great location. I'd recommend Hyatt House to anyone visiting the area and would stay again.

The hotel itself was average. Parking was 20 a day. In a garage across the street one block over. Had no valet. Check in was easy and welcoming. Room was on second floor. Stunning view. Needs updating, especially the carpeting. Was fraying in spots. Needs a shower door on the walk in shower. Only had shower curtain. Water went everyehere. Beds have no comforter of any sort. Breakfast was good. However, no flavored creamer for coffee or bacon. Same thing everyday. Bar was nice. Food was good. The best bartender there hands down is Mykayla. She deserves a raise...Staff were all good. I would recommend, but rooms need improvements.

I found a canister of No2 under the bed on the morning of check out. My wife and I slept on top of it all weekend. With that said, when I reported this and gave the cansiter to the front desk, I believe this was handled appropriately.

Check in was the worst part. When I booked the room online, Expedia stated that the price was going to be $75 and when I got to check in, they would not honor that and charged me $100. Also online it does not list that you have to pay $20-$30 a night for parking. It was a little ridiculous considering how much the room was.

The Hyatt House proved to be a wonderful place to stay while visiting NAS Oceana. Clean room, friendly and attentive staff and convenient to most locations that we needed to go. Would certainly recommend and we will return for another stay.

Checked in on Monday, while others checked in at 1pm .. we sat in lobby until 415pm to get out room. After I informed the front desk staff that I am a Priority Club Member, the apologies started. WTH.... Texted and called front desk over 3 times on Friday for clean towels ,trash dump, toilet tissue.. stayed 6 days , still waiting on a luggage cart that never showed.. 4 trips on elevator to load vehicle... WTH ... Women in breakfast bar, Kelly and Denise are awesome !

Clean hotel, but dated. Room was smaller than anticipated. Food was ok. Parking is not attached to the hotel and I was nervous about walking back at night because of some people loitering near the garage.

Nice place to stay. Right on the boardwalk (near the center) with convenient access to beach. Clean, comfortable rooms. Clean common areas with throughout the day upkeep. Very friendly and helpful staff. Interactive. Extra towels and toiletries available as needed. Breakfast was good with decent variety but needs new menu options mixed in more often. Parking garage was close but not attached. Easy to accommodate though and no issues there. Worst part was the unloading zone in front of hotel. Simply not enough space for multiple vehicles and individuals. Felt very rushed, but the hotel employees did their best and were very good at coordination. Overall, no complaints and would stay there again.

The Hyatt House was the perfect location on the beach with many restaurants and shops within walking distance. The rooms were nice and spacious. I had a problem with my fridge not working the 1st night but they replaced it immediately. The staff were very friendly and eager to make our stay comfortable. The breakfast buffet was nice but it was pretty much the same thing every day; a little more variety would've been nice. Overall, we were very happy with the hotel and would definitely stay there again! I already recommended it to family members who are planning a trip there next year.

convenient location on the beach

Our stay with family and friends was great. The breakfast had plenty of options, the room was clean, the service was excellent and the staff was helpful. The parking at the nearest garage was also easy. The easy access to beach topped it off!

Spacious

The hotel smells nice rooms are exceptionally clean and well stocked. Decent size room and I also love that it has a decent size kitchenette where I can prepare my meals. My entire family enjoyed our week stay. My only concern was the coffee wasn’t strong enough for me and pancake/waffles were soggy.

It was very comfortable loved the full breakfast spead which was excellent. A very restful stay. Loved the luxury the hotel had to offer!

No privacy on balcony… the view from balcony was straight ahead.. too many rules.. this motel advertised a refrigerator!! It was a mini refrigerator … ice machine on one floor… not satisfied for the money spent… NO PRIVACY ON BALCONY WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING

Overall was good, but would be nice to have some more variety of food for breakfast.

It was easy to get around. You could walk or take the trolley which was $2 one way or you could do a daily pass for $4.50. The daily pass lets you ride the trolley all day or the bus anywhere in the area. On the strip doughboys was great. The pizza was really good and you were able to get a to go cup with alcohol as well. The beach was always clean.The staff was super helpful. Rena was great Expedia overbooked the suites and we were not able to get the two suites we booked but Rena was able to resolve that for us. We had a great time at the Hyatt House. Everytime we left and came back you are always greeted by the staff with a welcome back.

Breakfast was fresh and had a good variety, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was warm and welcoming. Hotel is clean and very nice. Parking is off site but about a 45 second walk so not an inconvenience at all. We had a suite with 2 queen beds and it was enough room for our family of 4, but the balconies are very small, and our outdoor furniture was old and damaged. Pull out sofa wasn’t very comfortable but my son found the actual sofa to be very comfortable so we just put the sheets on top of the cushions and that’s where he slept! Breakfast is included and very tasty. We didn’t eat any other food at the restaurant, but the drinks were delicious, and they have a convenient water fill station. They do have sand toys and towels for you to use, and you get a $5 credit per day/ per room to use in their “market” which has water, sodas, chips, etc. We did a Walmart delivery for drinks and snacks. There is also a Walgreens, CVS, Subway, 7-11 and plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The majority of the staff is very helpful, with just a couple people who look like they hate their jobs. Enrique is amazing and helped us switch rooms after our first night when we wanted a higher level (2nd floor only has a view of the roof below and no balcony privacy) and the bellhops are the friendliest people ever and probably deserve raises! It is right across an entrance to the beach but beware if you walk across the grass as it is a dog friendly hotel and there was SO MUCH POOP not picked up. We would come back!

Purchased a room with two queen beds and a pull out sofa however they gave our room anway and downgraded us to a smaller room with a couch that didn’t pull out into a bed. So, one of my children had to sleep on a very small sofa. They called it an upgrade. Was not happy. They gave me the rate of the smaller room and reimbursed the money I paid over. They paid for parking and a convenience fee. But, overall it was very inconvenient and I regret having picked this hotel. I only picked it because I needed that bed set up and then ended up loosing it anyway even with paying in advance.

My family and I were really impressed with this property. The room was spacious and very clean. I loved that our room had views of the front of the building and the ocean. I wish we could've stayed more than one night. The only drawback was the breakfast--the hot food was cool and bland. There was no bacon just sausage. Not everyone wants to eat sausage. Other than that the experience was excellent.

I like the distance from beach and the view. I don't like dog barking, floor carpet has staple piece coming out poked my family's foot. The staffs are very professional and friendly as I heard before we arrived.

Some of our fixtures were broke and the chair had a hole in the seat. The resirt fee is ridiculous as is the parking which costs an extra $20 per night. The people were great but the place and its housekeeping policies were terrible.

It was a nice stay. The breakfast in the morning was great. It was more than just muffins and cereal. They dont do room service daily, which i do enjoy when i have stayed at other hotels. It's always nice to come back to a clean room and made beds. Overall, very nice place to stay.

I wish the pool was bigger or outside if I had to make it “perfect”. The boardwalk and ocean view from our room was spectacular. We were able to walk to all the great restaurants nearby.

I enjoyed the restaurant and bar at this location. Great servers/bartenders. However, the premises were not very clean around the windows causing sand flies and bugs. It was hard to enjoy our meal looking at dead bugs all over the windows. We spent one week there, and they never vacuumed our room. Our room keys did not work causing us to be stranded on the elevator. One front desk clerk was rude

Dirty terrace and broken lounge chair at Rm 207. Leftover chicken and rice on table and floor. We asked for a rollout mattress but never got a response whether it was available or not.

On a positive note, the kitchen in the room was a plus, and the location right on the oceanfront was great. However, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. The elevator broke down during our stay, so we had to use the stairs to reach our room. Breakfast was terrible, and both check-in and check-out were disorganized and inconvenient. Parking was across the street from the hotel, which wasn’t ideal, but the parking attendant, Robert, was outstanding very helpful and professional. He was one of the few highlights of the trip. Overall, for the price we paid for three nights, it simply wasn’t worth it. I won’t be returning.

Location: 5 stars. Room clean and updated: 4 stars. Doormen services 10 stars. Front desk could have been more helpful: 3 stars. Nearby restaurants and beach access: 5 stars. Parking is not included, which is ok, but upon checking in they advertise a "destination package" that includes parking at $30 a day but when totaled they charged me $219 and upon check out another $159 which I still don't fully understand what I paid extra for. So, I recommend travelers ask a lot of questions and recommend the hotel send an invoice for additional charges, especially when asked too. Luckily brought my own shampoo for a 3 night family beach vacation because it was empty in our room. Informed the front desk at check out for the next guests and they said I should have just called housekeeping. Which is interesting because I called housekeeping on day 2 for towel service for our bathroom, no answer, went to the front desk for request, they blew me off said they'll text housekeeping. They never did. 4 people, 5 towels for 3 nights, beach everyday, we're showering. So, I just used the beach towel rentals for extra towels since it was included in the "destination package." Also, did not enjoy stinky trash being left in the hallway for hours. Breakfast was good, but the seating area does not accommodate for the amount of guests the hotel houses so get there early to get a seat!

Enrique at the front desk was amazing! All of the gentleman who helped us carry our luggage were amazing! Overall great hotel and phenomenal location. One tip would be to include valet parking in the future as the parking is separate from the hotel.

I don't know only one thing that I don't like I have to pay for parking.

Very bad experience. Considering the brand and price paid, the hotel had many issues. Room design is horrible with a TV cabinet right in the middle of the room. The mattresses were really bad and the sofa bed was horrible. You can feel the metal springs when lying on the sofa bed. Breakfast was good for nothing and some of the staff was not friendly at all.

Rooms were ok. Small queen beds, older furnishings, and housekeeping was not great as I had to stop multiple times at the front desk to get items that were requested but not left. However, the desk staff were all fantastic and the location is good in regards to things to do! Parking is close as well.

This hotel was close to everything with easy beach access and good dining options close by.

The property was easy to find and access. Parking was convenient and affordable. The room was very clean and we never heard any other patrons from our room. We were on the 19th floor and the view was absolutely amazing.

Great hotel location and views of the ocean!

Traveled with a toddler, a crawling infant, a teenager and my mother. The room provided plenty of space for the 5 of us. My Mother was on oxygen at the time and the staff was so helpful to get us, our luggage and assisted with best placement of oxygen in the room. The staff was genuinely kind, making us feel like warmly welcomed.

I really enjoyed my stay here! The staff is always nice. I usually like to switch up the hotels I stay at when I come to VA beach but I was so satisfied here that I think I will only stick with this one. Everyone from the front desk with Kate, Enrique and the rest of the staff to the breakfast staff to even the bell men like Michael and the others were superb and very welcoming and hospitable! I love it here and will be coming back. This is in addition to the hotel being in such a convenient location with a spectacular view! I absolutely love it here!

Very expensive for what is offered.

Overall the stay was good! When we arrived to check in by 4pm, our room.was not ready. It took over an hour of us waiting in the lobby for the manager to finally decide to give us another room. But the manager compensated us for our troubles which I thought was a great jesture and accommodation. The only other thing was there were so many flies in the lobby and restaurant. It became unbearable. Other than that, the continental breakfast was good and the aestetic of the hotel was beautiful. Convienently located to parking, shops, restaurants, and the main social area.

There was not great water pressure in the hotel and our shower control was broken in the wall...other than that, it was decent.

The weather was amazing! and the Hotel its self was 10/10 the staff were so nice and very attentive. Our room was clean, and the view AMAZING! oceanfront. The beach is walking distance. We were on the 19 floor and I loved it so did my husband this is my second stay at this same hotel and I loved it, the restaurants are so close walking distance and the food 10/10. Breakfast was good they serve from 6-10am a lot of wide selections. Over all great experience.

The breakfast reminded me of bad hospital food. Its hard to mess up breakfast, but they did. Was not clean. One of the dining table chairs had a dirt spot, when I cleaned it with a wet wipe, I realized how filthy the chair was. The white wet wipe was brown, the same for yhe other dining chair, and the the lamp by the bedside. I just ended up wiping down every surface in the room. Just to feel comfortable. I was told over the phone, the room had a stove with an oven. I had brought a homemade and frozen lasagna and garlic bread from home to bake for a special dinner. Nope it only had a stove top, no oven. Could not refreeze it as hard as my freezer at home had it, so it had thawed and was ruined on our hours long drive home afterward. I like the Hyatt House at VA Beach and will probably stay again. Loved the spacious room with the six of us...three adults and three children. What I didn't like is the delayed check in. It would be nice to just come and get the key like right then. Being delayed for anything is not good if you're traveling with a 11,10 & 4 year old. They had fun at the beach as usual.

The hotel was clean and right on the ocean front. Staff was ok. Only thing I didn’t like they need to update the coffee machine. Beside that. It’s fine.

Wonderful hotel. Very clean and very polite and caring staff. After a ten hour trip with four kids, check in was quick and unlaoding luggage with help was fantastic. We will absolutely stay here again our next trip.

Bads: Parking lot across the street, it’s safe and it wasn’t terrible but it’s better having it right out of the building. There are not usb ports in the room. The microwave light might bother if not tolerant to light at night. There was no shower gel before the check-in. The microwave tray almost fell to the carpet since it was not steady, it could’ve caused an accident. The automatic bathroom light might also be painful at night since it turns on just by walking in the hallway, that forced the bathroom door to be closed all the time to avoid the light to frequently turn on.

The hotel has a lot of hidden charges that surprise us. We booked through Expedia and we are charged with destination fee per day and parking per day.
