Hotel itself seemed clean, pools were not well maintained and very dirty. Stayed last year and the year before, the pools were in much better shape then. This year the pool floor was broken apart and they never vacuumed it once the entire stay. Hope they fix those issues, definitely a hazard with a broken pool floor.

Hotel was nice. We loved all the amenities it offered. If you are traveling with kids then this is the place to stay. Currently the hotel is undergoing renovations. Fortunately we got to stay in the upgraded rooms. I loved that the refrigerator was a larger small apartment size refrigerator and not the mini fridge. This allowed for keeping more food on hand for our family of 5. The only complaint is that the elevators are super duper slow, and super super small! A family of 5 and their small luggage cart barely fit us all! So you lose some valuable time waiting on the elevator unless you are lucky enough to stay on the 1st floor. The hotel had restaurants onsite. We heard good things about them but did not eat at them. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. I hope they will have the elevator issue fixed by then.

Loved everything about our stay. The room was so nice and spacious. The only downside was that the outdoor pool water was literally freezing (it was June) and the indoor pool was out of service. The kids still made the best of it though.

You definitely have plenty of pools and hot tub although the indoor poor could have been warmer.The room was clean. Restaurant where nice. Staff didn' t really know much about the town or things to do or ways to get around. And what you pay for a room, you are charged for parking too. But definitely could use alittle updating.

All the pools, snack and drink bar out by the pool. The king suite was huge. I will definitely stay again. Being on the north end of va beach its much more chill of an area.

Had a ocean front suit and everything was good, except the main room the sliding glass door to the balcony door handle was broken off, and even when trying to slide the door open with your hands it wad extremely hard, we gave up after the first night.

There are two outdoor pools and an indoor pool. The smaller outdoor pool area was pleasant. The large outdoor pool was closed at the time of our visit. The indoor pool has a lazy river thing going on and would be nice during bad weather. Pool towels were comically small

For the most part we loved it. But the pool could have been cleaned better.

Pools were merky and not so clean. We stayed on the “renovated” side and was woken up to work being done so there was loud banging and drill noises. Not to mention I stayed there last year and the suite on the not renovated side was a lot larger for my family of 5. The first night we arrived the person who checked us in gave us the key to another room so we walked into someone else’s room had to go back down with our kids and cart full of bags and luggage’s. The sheets and blankets werent clean so we had to ask for 2 new blankets to be sent up. Also, a drunk man was roaming the hallways and had to be escorted out by staff. He was not even staying on the property which made us feel unsafe as it seems anyone can just walk in and walk up to an elevator with no regard. We came back to this hotel because we had such a pleasant experience last year when we came down for cheer competition. This year was not a great experience.

The staff did not inform me that MANY of the amenities online were not open such as the hot tub, splash camp, and the square whale. The elevators were small and the floor plan was hard to follow. I did like that the balcony door was hard to open being that this hotel had so many things to do for kids online. The movie theater was open and it was nice and convenient! The pool was full of children not following the rules and it was unsafe

This was the hardest bed I have ever slept in. So uncomfortable. I paid 272 dollars a day and couldn’t get my room cleaned. Only gave me towels. Bed nit made. Had no hot water. Ran water for a long time and still only got warm

Well equipped property under renovation at the time of our visit so they were not all available to us. Overall great location.

We booked this trip last minute so we arrived in the middle of the night with young kids. The room was a king and sofa bed. Beach front view was the only good thing unfortunately. The hotel was dirty and very beat up from the moment we walked in all the way to our room and beyond. Upon check-in, they charged my debit card the fee for incidentals (I try a lot so that’s expected and was completely fine). I paid for this trip prior to arrival in full. Unfortunately on top of the lack of cleanliness, my card was charge multiple times over the course of 2 days totaling $655. After a days worth of phone calls and getting nowhere with the hotel, I was forced to call my bank and lock my account so no further charges could come through. The hotel has been refunding me for the wrongful charges, but it was a complete nightmare for me and my family traveling with two little kids. The cleanliness lead me to leave the hotel after the one sleep. We ate at the buffet overlooking the beach. The staff was nice but the food was just blah. On our walk to the restaurant, the outdoor pool was full of green pollen. I understand it’s the height of the season but it just needed to be tended to and cleaned. They front desk let me know I would be charged an early checkout fee and could not refund the two other days we booked. I left without “checking out” to avoid additional fees. The staff was rude when calling on the phone. Overall, it was a nightmare of dirty hotel and unexpected charges. Stay away!

This hotel was terrible! False advertisement. None of the kids amenities were open. Pool area was disgusting. I went to pull my sofa bed out and it was crumbs in the bed! Asked to switch rooms and was given an attitude from the front desk. I understand it was a busy weekend but to tell me to cancel my booking is insane. I would never stay here again.

The stay was okay. The room had some sand all over the room floors. Very hard to get it clean. Recommend a better filtered vacuum to get more of the sand.

No one told me the hotel was under renovation, so it was a surprise to find it as such. The elevator took forever to get from the 1st to the 7th floor. The 7th floor reaked of weed most of the time. I picked a King Size bed room and got a queen size one. The AC would turn off even though I set it to run on 70 all the time. The breakfasts were a la carte so the waiting to be served was not good, however Shamira Simpson was excellent during the first day. The rest of the mornings the breakfast crew was doing their best to please, but couldn’t keep up with the guests.

Was put in the part of the hotel that was under renovation, heard work being done down the hall at just after 6am. the elevator was extremely tiny and not finished. The indoor pool was icy cold so couldn't go in, waterfalls wouldn't turn on, the jacuzzi was broken and blocked off, the only good part was the room itself. Beds were comfy and loved hearing the waves crash up on the beach all night very relaxing but other than that I was extremely disappointed with this hotel.

Asked for a later check out because we were traveling with a newborn and was denied. Breakfast vouchers weren’t given to us because we booked 3rd party but we booked 3rd party last stay and got them. Says buffet breakfast. It is not a buffet. $15 for 2 pieces of French toast. Would try somewhere else after this experience.

Hot tub was out of order and they were renovating half the hotel!! Woke us up early morning Saturday with loud machining and work. If I knew this then I wouldn’t have booked! There was no warning or info about the work being done. It ruined our stay there.

Room was ADA room with very low toilet, while my husband is 6'1". Heat didn't work properly in the room. Hallways were extremely cold and we could not enjoy the indoor pool because of it. There was no restaurant or hot tub as advertised. Kids in room near us were running and stomping up and down the halls. TV lost signal constantly. Couldn't enjoy view of the ocean because windows were so dirty. I rate the hotel -10!!!!!

Our room was not bad , but definitely outdated , coffee machine made good coffee but the sugar and creamer packets were hard to. Would recommend making coffee at the lobby. I reserved a suite with ocean view , and while I got my ocean view we ended up with two double beds … which we hated it was just us 2. Balcony door in the bedroom kept getting stuck and almost felt like you would pull a muscle trying to open and close it . But it was amazing having the ocean view and the sound of the waves. Living room couch was a bit uncomfortable but eh just watch tv in bed and you’ll be fine. Breakfast while it isn’t included you get it for a small fee which I paid ahead, but the waiter at breakfast seemed a bit annoyed to be working. Overall not bad, it was decently clean , no bad smells , indoor pool is decent . Would stay here again but would probably wait for renovations to be done.

Location, ocean view, and 2nd pool (just outside the indoor pool). Hard mattress. Main pool (near lobby) was dirty. Water was cloudy. Ordered a cocktail at poolside bar. Contained no alcohol. Paid $14 for slushy coconut juice. Bartender very obviously ignored my Latina friend who wanted to order a cocktail., while being friendly to the blonde ladies who came in after her. Extremely rude and absolutely unacceptable behavior.

We love this location. Staff are friendly. The hotel needs a little updating, nothing major. The pools could be cleaned a little better. Elevators weren't too slow... It was a great stay. The pools could use some cleaning. The new showers were nice, need a little foot step for ladies to shave.

We liked where they had 3 pools. The location was nice and it was quieter on the beach. They didn’t have my room that I booked available, I was told we would have a king room with a sofa bed we did not. They kept telling me to check back the next day to see if availability was available. It never was. Room was very small.

Indoor pool was cold (80 degree water) and the room the pool was in was 65 degrees. Hot tub was also broken. If you’re offering an indoor pool in the winter, would be nice to be warm enough to be comfortable. Also- Had to pay $10/day for parking for booking through Expedia.

The movie theater really made a difference; we watched several films and had a great time. It was a shame the hot tub was closed, but we would love to come back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor pools.

The mirrors and glass doors needed cleaning. It would be nice if they gave you a map of hotel like where the elevators, indoor pool ( which was way too cold to get in ) were and how to get to the beach. I was constantly having to ask questions.

It was my husband and I wedding anniversary and i have had 3 back surgeries in the last year and i finally am healed up and able to use a hot tub . I was let down by it being very very cold . The room and staff were great the pool was nice did get a little over crowded in the evenings . Unfortunately they did hot tub matince two different days and closed the hot tub disappointing when they opened it back up the third day it was cold. The buffet was over priced and my husband had a hair in his food . Overall thought the stay was good. They are currently doing upgrades to the property but it was quite so that was a plus

Dingy. New management per the front desk. Needs to be updated. Hot tub didn’t work. Room was ok. Hallway smelt like weed everyday. Will not stay here again!

~Room was clean & bed was comfortable ~Front desk staff was nice ~They have a small restaurant inside the Hotel ~They have a small Theatre inside the Hotel ~Received a text asking how my stay was. I replied back that I was cold & asked for a blanket. They sent a blanket to my room. I also stated my pillow was flat & I received a pillow at my door. Cons: Some of the pillows were flat & you have to pay $10 per night to park in a parking garage across the street. If garage is full there is overflow parking the next street over. When we stayed there was one night the parking garage was full. But it was too dark & rainy & it was unfamiliar to park in the overflow (the next street over). So, I told them that we were parking in the handicap parking for that night.

Great place to stay right on the beach.

The property needs some upkeep. The door to the beach was impossible to open, which is why we paid extra to say on the first floor.

The grounds around the hotel were beautiful and very well manicured. THREE BIG BEAUTIFUL POOLS!! The weather wasn't warm enough though for swimming. The one night we spent in the room was very unsatisfying. The room had a mold smell, the shower door appeared to be off track and difficult to move so we just left it opened, the bathroom was very tiny but worst of all, my queen bed had sand on the sheets when I got in and a black smudge of some sorts. That was so gross! They had not changed the sheets which made me wonder what else may not have been changed and cleaned. I called the front desk and they apologized and offered to move us be all I wanted at that point was all the bed linens changed. Two young men came and cleaned the bed, were very apologetic and friendly.

I was extremely pleased and a bit surprised at how wonderful this hotel was. Our room was big and comfortable and clean. The pools were fantastic and all the staff was so friendly and kind. We were therefore about a week and we had one minor issue with our door lock and they addressed that immediately.

I liked it but the only thing that was a little problem was getting to front door to check I . I have a long pickup and they had valet parking parked all in front and could not turn in circle so I had to back out but I got checked in just a little problem The staff was very helpful and friendly

I got an oceanfront room, the windows were very hard to see out of, hazy white so you couldn't see the ocean without opening the doors. The indoor pool was not "heated" it wasn't as cold as outdoors but definitely too cold for your body unless you love cold water. The hot tub, which is what I wanted to use, was closed both days. We called ahead and nobody mentioned the hot tub was not operating, so that was frustrating. The outdoor pools were beautiful and very cold in early October, they were also empty. So it was great for tanning and enjoying the sun. Check-in was okay. They didnt tell me where anything was except the elevator. Parking was great, $10 day and across the street, convenient. They had a movie room, a kids area, a gym and a couple of restaurants. We had the fish and chips and the square whale and it wad good, nothing extraordinary but everything was okay.

The place is outdated and needs to start making some changes . Beds are ok it’s just the carpet looks dirty and needs a new dated look. It was dusty as hell in my room. Wasn’t clean . The heater popped and stopped working and smelled like fire .

Viktor and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. We accidentally left souvenirs at the hotel and they were very gracious in shipping our items back to us as soon as they were able. Very much appreciate the staff here. The hotel was as expected, the pools were nice and the location was lovely for a virginia beach stay away from any real noise.

Was placed in a room with black mold. Had yo move out yo the first floor from 5th. It had a broken hot tub not hot and that's all i wanted was hot tub. So my lungs and body acked beds were so bad too. Vomited up hotel bar food i dont drink but food wrap was rotten made me ill and vommiting. Watch out eith thos one.

Disappointed that during my stay the indoor pool was closed; the hot tub was closed; the restaurant was closed; the playroom was closed. At a minimum I would have expected since beginning of October outdoor pools closed that inside would be open. I’d still stay again but was surprised.

Love the pool and oceanaide location. Staff was very helpful. Room was not cleaned well, carpet stains and stains on bedsheets. Door did not open well to balcony.

There was no daily service of my room. And when asked for additional pillows and top sheet for the sofa bed, they were never brought up. There was no blanket for the sofa bed. Other than that it was great.

My family and I have stayed at this property a few times, this is the last. Supposed to be non-smoking, yet people are smoking on the balcony and it ruins it for those who don’t. I paid for an ocean front room and was given a pool view with a partial ocean view. Complained about smokers and was moved from 6th floor to 5th. Same issue with smokers and this time balcony door handle loose and hard to open. Complained again and was told I’d get a call back when another room was ready. Never did. Lazy river (inside) was dirty and left us with a nasty smell of mildew and dirty socks. Had breakfast one morning at hotel (buffet) and it was not worth the price. Powdered eggs, burnt bacon, and just not like it used to be. Hotel says it is getting renovated this fall so maybe they don’t care right now. Carpet fresh scent masking the damp smell of mildew and who knows what else. Overall bad hotel experience and we won’t be back. Complained to front desk and only got parking refunded, which we didn’t know we were being charged until we checked in. At least the beach itself was nice and we found good places to eat in the area. This was my retirement vacation, should have stayed somewhere else.

The beach view was ok the pool could have been better the rain messed us up so we had to go inside and you could not.swimm in that pool. The manager was nice and sincere with his apologies. Hopefully wgen they renovate the suites will have a true bathroom and not a water closet.

Indoor Pools and breakfast spread were amazing. The room and view were also topnotch. Just hoping that the kids playroom was open when we got there.

Parking is across the street. 4 handicap parking spaces. Valet from next door business were helpful. Elevator walls detached. Ice maker not working. Lamp missing, a/c haven't been cleaned recently. Ceilings leaving water, plaster falling.

There was mold on the curtains and balcony floor. There was so much gunk in the tract of the balcony door it was almost impossible to open. There was mold on the shower door tract and in the rubber molding. There was a mildew smell when we walked in and only subsided when we put the air conditioner on 70. Floor at edge of elevators and subsequent floors would give when you stepped on it. One big window in one elevator was pushed off it’s track. Shower leaked onto floor.

This hotel is my go to because it’s kid friendly. .. well this trip I wasn’t impressed.. when I checked in I got hit with a $10 dollar a night parking fee ( parking has alway been free here). The front desk girls were super rude when I asked about the parking change they handed me a paper with all the new rules… then when I got into my room the smell of mold and mildew took your breath away, like the room hasn’t been used in years, so I went to express my concerns about that, they rudely have me a new room which still had mold , water damage on the ceiling, wall paper peeling off the walls, dead bugs in the picture frames on the wall.. I had noticed that house keeping hadn’t been in my room the whole trip I ran out of towels and toilet paper. Went to the front desk to be told that new rules housekeeping only comes every 4 days and when I told them I was out of towels and toilet paper they had told me they were out of stock as well.. I’m not sure what happened here but this stay wasn’t good for me.

This was my first time at this hotel and the staff was exceptional from the front desk, hospitality and housekeeping. The breakfast was delicious and the hotel was very convenient to the beach.

No AC in hallways changed rooms twice because door to balcony would not open this place is in need of repairs but great location it was a100 degrees when we went unbearable in hallways

I should get a reimbursement or at least 1 night stay for free by been dealing with a water leak around 1:30 am and really bad experience with the way they had handle it.

Its not clean. The price is high, like the surrounding area because its along the beach. For the same price we can go somewhere better and vaccumed.

Hotel was old and outdated. The sliding door to the balcony was broken.

Also we had a problem getting our door open to the balcony and the darkening curtain was missing its pull stick. Those are not major problems just inconvenience. Price of the room was too expensive for the room we received. They did offer another room but by then we really didn’t want pack up and move. They really need to redo the whole ceiling in room 502!!!! It’s a mess.

Bldg is in need of major repairs! With that said… they are remodeling this fall. I will refrain from posting the problems I experienced.

The desk staff were very personal and was helpful, i.e., when asked did I want an upper or lower room (my primary interest was an ocean facing room) I received a suggestion by the desk staff which worked out GREAT!

We liked the hotel very much. The indoor pool was perfect since it rained both days we were there. We would have liked to have a coffee station somewhere so tha we didn’t have to go to the 7/11 so often. The room was exactly as requested and we would like to stay there again when we could enjoy the beautiful beach.😃

The hotel and location was perfect. Clean, well kept. Housekeeping was not good. We had to call several different days because they did not come in to clean, refill coffee or towels.

We were hesitant after seeing reviews but we really enjoyed our stay! The 2 queen suite was perfect for our family of 4. The room was outdated, but- not horribly. It’s a perfectly comfy standard holiday inn. We LOVED the amenities and the fave hotel was still on the strip, yet not right in the middle of it. Anything we wanted or needed was either on site, or within.a 10 minute walk. Parking was right across the street and the trolling pickup was right in front of the hotel. We will be back!

Black mold on walls.. peeling wallpaper… musty smell, towels are very cheap and rough, housekeeping only made bed once during my 4 night stay. Automatic doors and elevator were constantly not working.. this hotel needs a major overhaul .. definitely not worth the price.. extremely disappointed..

We have stayed her numerous times but this time at first we were called and told the room was ready. When we came to the front desk we had to wait as the system showed it was not. Once arriving to the room the smell of mold was overwhelming as the unit was dripping in the floor and mold was speckled all over it. We had the room switched but the replacement room was in the front entrance and basically no ocean view which is what we paid for. We could not keep investing any more time in to it with two young kids and dinner time approaching so we had to settle. The hot tub which is what my son was most excited about what out of service. This may be our last visit to this hotel.

Every thing was ok

The room temperature was too cold or too hot during our stay. I booked because it had a lazyriver pool. There was no current . Spoke with someone at desk who indicated he'd turn the current on. Never did. Live the boardwalk, and the convenience of the trolly. The weather was perfect. Hope to come back next year.

not like: 1.breakfast receptionist: rude, 2: was told that beach umbrellas & chairs are for free, but upon arrival was told I had to pay a 3rd party for them! 3.Grotto Pool tiles was dirty. the water was heavily chlorinated, my eyes burned for hours afterwards.. 4. the ONLY hot tub ( a small one at that) was nont working, and was cordoned-off. 5. the wi-fi was spotty, as confessed by receptionist upon checkout, and the wi-fi range could not even reach the balcony!!

The view was beautiful, and being the very first hotel on the boardwalk gave us a sense of peace and quiet that no other location can offer. Truly the perfect spot! We’ll definitely be back—and will probably request the exact same room. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, making our stay even better. This hotel exceeded our expectations and made our trip extremely special for me and my family.

Room was dated. Wallpaper was coming off the wall. The carpet was coming up causing tripping. Hot tub was out of order during stay. The door to the balcony was broken. The toilet pipe burst and flooded the entire room. Had to pay for breakfast and parking (although that was covered after the room flooded).

The location was great and the beach in the north end was less crowded. This hotel is way overdue for a renovation and not just in need of a facelift. The window in one of the elevators was rotting out and you could see daylight around it. The safety railing that should have been in front of the window was missing. The balcony door was extremely difficult to open/close, the vanity light was flickering so much we could not use it. The walls were dingy and dirty (appeared to have boogers wiped on the wall). The only towel holder was inside the shower and it was rusty. It’s a hotel on the beach, but there is nothing in the room to hang wet clothes or towels.

Staff was excelled. Pool was fun. Loved the room.

We love the space you get for the value and the multiple pools. It’s also nice because it’s on the north end away from the noise, but they really need to update and maintain it. The bathrooms in the suites have damaged walls/wallpaper, lots of cracking and unkept spots. The hot tub was out of service this time which was a big disappointment. The staff is very friendly though and we love the on site restaurant and breakfast buffet

Front desk staff was great. They took care of out room concerns quickly all stay long. Hot tub was broken during our visit. Also the sink was clogged when we got there. Plumber was prompt. Patio was very dirty. Desk staff had it cleaned for us. Those 2 issues should of been addressed by housekeeping. Kureg coffee machine didn't work and they replaced it quickly with a new one. The indoor pool has a lot of sand in it. Looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in weeks. The more I type the more I think these are mostly housekeeping issues. Housekeeping should of noticed the slow drain and had the patio swept and bird droppings cleaned off the chairs (we were on the main floor). Restaurants were good. Parking was convient. Checkout was quick. Would stay again.

Stayed here for one after a bad experience at another hotel down the road. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, and 3 good size pools. Had a kids room and a movie theater. Highly recommend. Great beachfront view also.

Second time coming to this hotel Indoor hot tub is one reason i keep camping to this hotel was out of service & swimming pools close at 10pm , when i went there the first time few months ago at winter time i had better experience

My only concern was all of the pool temperatures were cooler than expected! They all needed a good cleaning.

Didnt like that we had to unload the car in valet area and park across the street. Also, not a fan of paying extra for parking. Should have been included in the nightly fee.

There’s nothing free about the kids food. The continental breakfast is $20 per adult. The poolside restaurant is SO expensive for what you get and we ended up with food poisoning. $19 for processed, limp chicken tenders. The front desk is so rude but the housekeepers and cleaning staff are so nice. You can’t sit on the balcony because the water from air conditioner in the room above you leaks down and soaks everything. 0/10 do not recommend.

Maid service was not good, I hah to look for a maid to come and service our room. Take care of our full trash bins. Restaurant options were very limited as well. Handicap parking issues need to be addressed. We will not recommend this property to anyone else in the future

Pretty decent stay

Just lack of maintenance.

NO HOUSEKEEPING my entire six night, seven day stay. Had to constantly ask for clean towels and paper products. Sand all over the room, garbage pails overflowing, and wet, moldy bathroom towels. Popcorn all over the hotel. Unvaccumed carpeting throughout. And not enough lounge chairs at the pool.

The next time, we will not visit this hotel in VA Beach!

Nice facilities for kids. Older building but readying for renovation this fall. Would stay there again, breakfast was awesome and staff super friendly.
