we loved cutty sark efficiencies. everything we needed was in the apt from stove to glasses to pots n pans. the staff were awesome. enjoyed being within walking distance to the beach we could see it from our room. great variety of shops within walking distance also. planning next years vacation to virginia beach to stay at cutty sark again. highly reccomend.

It was very clean and comfortable close to everything, there is a Dunkin donuts and 2 restaurants right around the corner. Great service but a little deceiving with the ocean view since it wasn't in front of the ocean so I was disappointed on that matter

Front desk staff were amazing and polite. However the rooms were completely unkept. Stains on the bed sheets and shower lining. Also there were multiple roaches and ants in the room.

We stay jere annually as we traverse down south. It's not for people looking for a super modern hotel. It is retro lovely Mom&Pop owned hotel. No elevator. Refreshing pool to cool off after a hot day on the beach. Ocean is steps away, Dunkin donuts a few steps away and a really great Mexican restaurant locally owned around the corner on Pacific. The infamous Pocahontas Pancakr House is a couple blocks away for a very kitchy breakfast experience... very busy. The room can get a bit musty, as is the case dealing with a very humid summer. We love the balcony facing the ocean but not on the ocean.

Still, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat—and I've already told my friends they need to check it out.

Great spot to enjoy a night in VA Beach. Wonderful view from the balcony, little kitchenette was very convenient for breakfast but could have used some extra supplies. Room was quiet even with some outside traffic. Would definitely return!

The room was old and the decor was outdated. Big deal. It was clean and the employees were friendly. We enjoyed our stay very much. The pool was great. And the location was spot on. The boardwalk is directly across the street. I would definitely stay here again.

We ended up not staying there because it was so nasty. No water pressure, too loud, smelled bad. Used it as a very expensive parking place for the beach

Very old and unit smelled. Was a fire hazard with too many cords plugged into outlets. No deadbolt on door. No shampoo/conditioner or lotions.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Parking is limited but free and manageable. Rooms are quaint but a bit dated. Water pressure was fair and bed was too soft for my tastes but not a big deal. Location is perfect- close to beach, a Dunkin Donuts and Mellow Mushroom- what more could you ask for?

Love the retro look. The vintage kitchenette unit was cute. Block from the beach and easy walking distance to attractions.

Only downer is it wasn't quite oceanview. The beach and ocean could be seen from our balcony, but sunrise required a 2 minute walk down the stairs and across the street around the condo building blocking the sun.

The room was clean but there was a loud noise coming from a fan on the wall every time the wind blowed and the ac didnt work and had to use box fan also no elevator

Hotels.com left my son & I without a reservation b/c they didn't tell us the hotel wasn't fully confirmed. We ended up without a place to stay. Worst experience of my life. Hotels.com is the WORST!!!

Roaches. infested with Roaches. A/C is weak at best. floor was wet and sticky on check in. wi-fi does not work properly.

The room was old and outdated, not to much of a problem for us. But, when I checked the beds they were infested with ANTS! Guy at the front desk was nice and refunded us right away with no issues, but I wouldn't stay there again.

Could use more updated electric devices. Not a lot of of room for meal prep but overall it was a pleasant stay. Do put any coins in the 1970 coke machine LOL

Very nice staff was clean and well kept a bit dated but everything worked well. Was a pleasant surprise for the small amount of money it cost. It felt like the days of old at the beach when people liked their job and they were there to make sure your vacation was relaxing and enjoyable.

The pool was small and looked cloudy. I didn’t feel comfortable there and was told by one of the staff the room was too small for me to have company over. Than the safe member explained the hotel room was just for sleeping. The bathtub didn’t drain even after several attempts to be fix. There was mold in the bathroom. We called ahead and said we were smokers, we were informed that our room didn’t have a balcony but was told we could smoke outside of our room. We did smoke outside of our room than was told people who walked by complained that they didn’t let walking by and we were never offered a balcony room .

The Cutty Sark is an older, family owned hotel across the street from the oceanfront. The ocean views are fabulous from the room and each room has its own deck. The rooms are clean and have small kitchenettes and the beds are super comfy. The hotel is located on the quiet end of the beach and within walking distance of everything you need form beachfront to restaurants.

U get charge if u have more then 2 people ,I dont like how u lock ur door it's with house key u have to slam the door to make sure its shut ,the kitchen is back in the 40 ,the tub dow t drain and the front office open at 10 am to 5 PM

This is an older 1960's hotel that is right across the street from the beach with some rooms having a nice view of the ocean. The room was clean but the fixtures and furniture are definitely older. There is someone at the front desk only during the day from 10 to 6. However they were very good about checking to see if we would arrive prior to 6 and were willing to make other arrangements for us to get our room key. Parking is very limited at the site but is available across the street. There is a pool and wifi and our unit had a mini old kitchen with a unit that had a sink, oven, 3 burner stove and refrigerator. It is within walking distance of most of the activities and places on the oceanfront. The trolley stops right out front if you wish to ride (at a cost). This is an inexpensive small place to stay at the Virginia Beach oceanfront. I would return for short weekend stays.

Great experience for the price! The efficiency unit had everything we needed; a small kitchen w/ dishes, coffee maker, fridge, microwave, etc. The balcony that overlooks the water was the best part! We stayed out there for hours watching the waves. Even though you are across the street from the beach, you still have unobstructed views of the water. Awesome value for the price and proximity to the beach!

It’s an older hotel, but they keep it clean. It’s actually across the street from the beach, but you can still see it easily. Good location. My only complaint is the bed is uncomfortable.

great location, very nice staff, just what I expected and wanted for my stay.

You are not allowed to have unregistered visitors. The lady working there saw my brother come up to my room and tracked me down to tell me he wasn't allowed to be on premise without registering for $20 a day. She then chased me down the next day to ask me again if I would be having any unregistered visitors. Very rude. I wouldn't give them business ever again.
