Reviews
Guests generally appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, as well as the variety of dining options. However, many express dissatisfaction with the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms, as well as the noise level, particularly from the indoor pool area.

Everything was fine however it took a while to figure out the layout of the ply

Room was spacious. Poor lighting especially for an interior room with no natural light. Bathroom was small but clean. No in room safe. For a “resort” property I expect 24/7 eatery or room service. This is just a casino with hotel. It is not a resort. The Steakhouse was pretty good. Casino reeks of smoke. Staff was friendly and obviously a lot of regulars. I was just breaking up a long drive. If it was my destination I would have been disappointed. My car was still there in the morning so all good. It must be under upgraded as the food court and conference rooms were full of mattresses. Hopefully upgraded bedding and pillows too.

The room was very clean but the lighting was very low. The staff was excellent and very accommodating. The casino was very clean, great band playing, slots were a little tight but in general it was a very nice stay. Mel's was amazing and we had excellent servers both times we went in.

Prefer to not be on the I-80 fwy side! Didn’t get good sleep at all. Vending machine was somewhat empty in the 3rd floor by elevator. The Deli was great for food. Service was very good! Hopefully this will still be my go to spot on my travels.

I had to ask for the coffee to be restocked and the trash emptied. Getting to our room was a choir. Had to walk through a smoke filled casino with luggage, ice chest, and other travel items. Only one elevator, our room was at the opposite end from the elevator. Parking was not convenient. We ate at the restaurant on site and it was a nice breakfast.

Hotel was ok I probably won’t stay here again being that it’s so far from all stores and restaurants. I stayed here only for a few days for basketball tournaments. Room was clean and staff was friendly. If you need your room serviced you have to wait until after 9am.

The service was excellent. We called a few times for various things in our room and it was no longer than three or four minutes before they showed up.

The cleanliness of the room was great and the comfort as well. Loved the staff they were sweet and helpful. The wifi sucked. Couldn't cast our phones to the tv. THE TV WASN'T EVEN CONNECTED TO THE WIFI NOR COULD IT CONNECT TO THE WIFE. Somebody came to the room to "fix" it, but he didn't eeven know how to fix it. "I don't even know how to work my phone" he said.

We loved the pool all tho the room was very cold kind of felt like we were outside swimming. I payed for a room with a view. My view was the other building and ac units!
- 3.5/5
I want to try to be fair because it is a casino but the hotel is so poorly access designed. This is no fault of the casino workers or quality of the hotel itself rather it is a facility design issue. Parking and hotel access is horrible. Parking is across a street with no marked crosswalk or waking path. Then you enter casino area to get to check-in desk. After check-in you must then walk through casino with luggage in hand or on a wheel cart. In other words there is no close hotel entrance to drop passengers or luggage. Totally riduculous facility layout design. Nice casino experience putting aside hotel issures

Here are things that detracted from our stay. First, before even entering the building, the smell of cigarette smoke was very strong and worse in the lobby. When registering, we were told the way to our room was through the casino. I asked if there were any other way because the smoke makes me ill and I was told there was not. This was upsetting since we were staying for 5 nights. We had family members checking in two days later and asked if they could be given a room near ours. We were told no because 1) they were only placing guests in the South Tower that day and we were in the North Tower and 2) the hotel was fully booked. This was disappointing and meant more treks through the Casino. I even asked a couple other employees if there were a way in to the hotel that wasn’t through the Casino. All said “no”. The day before we checked out, I discovered there were at least 2 entrances that did NOT require walking through the smoke-filled Casino. One is the entrance for Peet’s Coffee around back and right next to the South Tower elevator. The other is right of the lobby entrance. You pass by meeting rooms and get to the North Tower elevators without going through the Casino. Why would no one tell me this? I suspect they’re trained not to. That way more people funnel through the Casino and spend their money.

Awesome place lots to do great location for family stays and kids. There is a video game arcade place with some small rides for the kids. Food was pretty good. Smelled like cigarettes but that's a casino. Restaurant was expensive but once again that's a casino. They didn't clean the room very well because there was dog food on the floor.

Staff was fantastic. Non smoking room smelled smoky. Rom had a huge fan or compressor right outside the window and it ran all night. NOT ABLE TO SLEEP AT ALL. TERRIBLE SITUATION. Also not happy because we were led through ads, etc to believe this was a Best Western. Doesn't even come close to a Best Western. Just anothe smoky casino operation where they drag you through all the casino to get to registration, and drag you another way through the casino to get to elevators. Being in our 80's, disabled, this did not work for us. If you want a hotel with a casino in it, this is your place. If you want a quality Best Western Hotel, THIS IS NOT IT. Also hate this RESORT FEE business for items the normal traveler never uses. OK for a resort casino (THIS IS NO BLANKING RESORT), BUT NOT FOR A BEST WESTERN HOTEL.
- 3.5/5
The room was huge. It was facing the trash and on the other side the highway. The location of the room and noise of the highway.
- 3/5
The rooms are very nice. But the smoke at Boomtown lingers. It's built into the walls in the halls at this point. Place served our purpose just fine, but my lungs felt like I'd been to an old casino from back in the day. Smokey conditions

Another major concern was housekeeping. Our room was not serviced daily, and we were not provided with fresh towels each day, which is something guests should be able to expect during their stay. To make matters worse, the front desk staff was rude and unhelpful when we brought these concerns to their attention. Customer service goes a long way, and unfortunately that was lacking during our visit. Overall, this stay did not meet expectations, and I would not choose to stay here again unless major improvements are made.

Location with restaurants and gambling, things to do all in one place. The bed was comfortable. The room above us had children and they ran and jumped to late in the night. Was right next to swimming pool that had lights that stayed on all night couldn’t black that out.

The front staff was rather rude and not welcoming during my time there. They also provided a room to me that was supposed to be “out of order” Due to plumbing issues, and wasn’t comped for it.
- 3/5
Just passing through from Arches and needed a place to crash. The ground floor casino smells of cigarette smoke and despair. The place is maze like and hard to find the rooms. The pool was closed for renovations so call ahead if that's an amenitie you're hoping for. Hotels.com says you're paying the resort fee, but you will be charged the fee at registration no matter what. The staff are nice. I'm sad for their lungs and health.

They put us in a room right next to the pool. That was our view. An indoor pool! And it was so loud. There were bright lights all around the pool so it was hard to sleep. Not many food choices and the arcade machines stole my son’s money.

several time ask them clean the sheet they keep me going up down to lobby request change sheet because was sick finally they change room after 3th or 4th time request sheet change. Next day went down stair ask if it written down change sheet in this room she stated yes. Went back to room it was clean. so I want to sleep feeling worst turn cover over and they were same sheet. because I mark sheet with eye shadow and it was still there. went down stair told them and also drop apple powder on floor and still there too. day i left ask for my check invoice he give to me and i ask for policy information because desk manager stated you need have request room service before. that it on check in with sign in and on policy too. this information is not on invoice stating that as I requested that copy, no look at check in request it not there and so desk person with back get print of policy. than owner came out told me it can not be print. so i told him I'll call corp. office and to go head I'll get me because own this hotel. he was mad and shout out in front customer. than he told me get out several time and call security guard on me and than i just walk out calmly with guard. i did shout or refuse to leave. wait out side for son to get there. he also stated that I yell at his worker with ask change sheet . I think if that was case i would of been talk to or ask to leave. also asking me to get out of hotel he should took to other room calmly. his name is (dave) also call chase

Checked in for the Super Bowl event. Dropped my bags in the room and attended the event. When I returned to the room at 10:30 at night, I noticed the bathroom sink had some stuff on the bottom of the bowl like it hadn't been cleaned. Later when I used it, it wouldn't drain. I get it, stoppages happen, but it appears that the cleaners left it in this condition without calling maintenance to remedy the situation and left it for the future guest.

South Tower I had 2 rooms No a/c in either room not working 76 degrees or hotter in February and the only window leads to an indoor pool no outside air and if you open window chlorine gas fills your rooom. Rooms look to be recently remodeled by an unqualified contractor. Looks worse than before and I have stayed multiple years in boomtown. I worked commercial construction in SF for 35 years and from what I saw remodel wise looks to be an accident waiting to happen with rooms under construction left open all night with children able to access and plumbing fixtures left in hallway (American Standard) bowls and tanks. First night was north tower which seemed better but second thru 4 night we were put in south tower. We were able to stay 2 of the 3 nights I paid for but left a day early losing money on 1 night for 2 rooms and lift tickets at Northstar. We didn’t bother with complaints to the staff. I doubt the staff has anything to do with the construction issues but construction in an occupied hotel is very difficult speaking from experience. Final word, you’d be better to wait until completion before booking a room but if the rooms I paid for were already remodeled which we were told they were you’d be better to go elsewhere because it’s been done by hacks.

Things have gone downhill since last year. I have stayed here multiple times as an economical alternative to ski lodging in Truckee. It's just 20 to 30 minutes away. Unfortunately, the wifi did not work, the pool and gym were closed for extensive remodeling, the carpet in my room was very wet (like soak your socks wet) near the coffee pot, and there was a loud family next door. Disappointing and maybe its not worth saving the money.

We enjoyed our overnight at Boomtown as part of a larger road trip over Thanksgiving week. I've passed Boomtown dozens of times in my life driving on interstate 80, and was always curious and intrigued as it has a lot of exterior character and just looks like a fun place from the freeway. We appreciated that the resort was pet-friendly. and dinner at Mel's was a fun experience with the cool retro vibe and 50's nostalgia. The room was spacious and clean.

I feel I need to. I was harassed by a man at our favorite bar. I kept telling him to stop. He would not. I had no choice but walk away as I wasn’t receiving proper support. Not just security, but Greg a so/called manager. I was harassed by a man who will never come here again. I was harshly dismissed for reporting this. It was so disappointing and handled very inappropriate that I will never stay here again! I see that great customers like us and spend a lot of time here and spend a lot of money is treated this way. Very disgusted!

Room was the worst ever. They give Hotels.com the worst room. Inside window was supposed to pool, it was of a large table in the corner. Front desk would not change our room - said it was the hotels.com selection. Please remove this hotel from your website.

Nothing like it used to be! Extremy 'long walking distance' to hotel rooms! NO CARTS for luggage. Really NOT worth the money they charge.

The property was pet friendly, and had lots of things to do, but if your only staying the night the rooms were a little far away and is inconvenient if you have more than one piece of luggage to bring in.

We needed a rest place before 15 hours of more driving. I don’t gamble so the fun center was amazing for me and my daughter. Liked how there’s a diner on property as well. Lots of parking available. I have a hard time walking a lot with arthritis and torn ACL so a closer room would have been nice instead they put way up in 3rd floor to the very back of the hotel. Lots of walking to room to put bags away then more walking just to get food. And there was plenty of rooms available. This was our last trip seeing family before all my upcoming surgeries. Will stay here again, just will ask for closer room next time.

It was just a quick stop for one night but staff was genuinely friendly and helpful! Although they were remodeling rooms and other areas it was very clean and quiet when it mattered most!

We were assigned a room in the South Tower 3rd floor. When we got off of the elevator we realized we had to walk completely around that floor to get to our room because there was a barricade blocking the shortest path to our room. Because of limited mobility we went back to the desk and asked for a different room with close proximity to the elevator. We were given a room in the North Tower it was great- it had been remodeled and was very nice.

Not enough elevator locations. Te amusement center was closed well before posted closing time. The only open restaurant.( Mel’s ) only had food to go. But when we went to pick-up our food it was closed. When I got my food it was horrible. I ordered three eggs only got two and no toast. When I got my third egg and toast, the toast was drenched in butter. I literally wrung out the excess butter. Obviously the cook was upset that I wanted the food that I paid too much for. I ordered cornbeef hash with hash browns and got cubed maybe corn beef with homestyle potatoes.. greasy as the toast. Definitely the worst breakfast and possibly the worst meal I have ever attempted to ingest. I ate maybe half of it and walked away feeling disgusted and regretting every bite. The bathroom floor under the basin was filthy. Coffee maker was missing parts. Best Western was worst anywhere. Staff is not happy and clearly not trying. Signs of poor management AGAIN/STILL!! Never again

New rooms in North tower, still in construction.

Very pleasing large hotel. Fun and relaxed atmosphere. Great dining options on site - Steakhouse really lovely but not open every day, Original Mel's Diner perfect for that all-American experience and great coffee and friendly service at Peet's. My room was very nice, modern and spacious, but others and the lifts were in the process of bring refurbished. The casino was proving popular. I recommend this place warmly.

Front desk interaction was curt. Room did not have towels for a second guest! There was a surprise additional charge (resort fee) to pay. It appears that the room was recently renovated. Bed, furnitures, etc., appeared new.
- 3/5
It wasn't clear enough to me that I would be charged with an additional $24 resort fee that was not included in my orbitz purchase so that wasn't a fun surprise.
- 4/5
Room was nice but the bed was not very comfortable.

Older and outdated but we knew that going in. The pool was warm which made the kids happy. The staff at the Fun Center was so kind! The kids loved the arcade, mini golf and carousel. Lots to do with kiddos!

It was quiet even though our room looks out directly to the pool area. Even though really no one was at pool. Would have been upset if it was noisy.

Front desk was on a bathroom break, I waited over 10 minutes with 2 managers walking by twice, I asked if anyone was there to check me in. They were rude and said, he’s on break, you’re going to have to wait. They had no ibuprofen, I was told to wait until the gift shopped opened in the morning. WIFI was TERRIBLE!!! Kept shutting off and making me log in, like 25 times!!!

Pool was closed for renovation. Waited 2 hours for water to be delivered to our room because they forgot to put it in our room. 24/7 restaurant was closed when we went down for breakfast. Very short staffed. Expect to wait for everything! I do not recommend this hotel.
- 5/5
This was an overnight stop over trip while I was traveling long distance. I chose this location, in order to make my last leg of my trip shorter. The staff was professional, friendly and courteous. The room was amazing, all you need in one stop. Thank you, thank you.

I normally would not leave a bad review. But this hotels customer service was not good .We booked this hotel because it offered a pool and fun zone for the kids and the rooms looked doable. The rooms were old , from the window was a view of a wall and huge air conditioning unit, dirty carpet and extremely small. The pool and the fun zone were both closed. So disappointing. We decided we did not want to stay there. I spoke to customer service about our disappointment and they didnt handle it professionally, they really didnt care . I requested a refund for the room I added on at check in. They said I could not get a refund...after continuing to tell them of our intire bad customer service experience. I was resonable and willing to cover the cost of one room., If they could please refund at least the one I had addded apon check in..they said yes they would refund one room...We checked out of the 2 rooms 20 minutes after checking in. And this morning my bank shows I was charged for a 3rd room. Very frustrating and it takes alot for me to this point. We ended up staying at the Grand Sierra for the same price and the difference was night and day ...excellent customer service, clean beautiful large rooms and fun zone for the kiddos 😀 Oh and the view is gorgeous.
- 1/5
They said there was a pool... we booked this for my daughter's birthday party. There was no water in the pool. They advertised free breakfast. There was no breakfast. They said we could have adjoining rooms when I called. When we got there-- we did not have adjoining rooms. This experience truly ruined her birthday as every plan we had did not happen.
- 4/5
Wish there was more options for eating near the area though and that the steak house wasn’t closed both the days we were there.
- 1/5
The Manager was very rude and highly dishonest. Pool was closed, construction next to our room which was super loud and he pretty much said we had to deal with it. No buffet. Just Mel’s and steak house. We will Never stay at this place again. When I stayed Expedia had not told my about the pool being closed, the construction, buffet being closed, and the 144 dollar deposit, he said I was lying and they absolutely did. Which I found out later, they had no idea about any of it and he was the one actually being very rude and very disrespectful and dishonest. Definitely was the worst place I have ever stayed.
- 5/5
We like that the property is family friendly.
- 2/5
The room did not have the room service code needed to order and no one at the front desk could find me help for over 30 minutes. The bed was not very comfortable. The tv only had casting as an option and that didn’t work.
- 5/5
Staff are impeccable

Enjoyed purse

During our stay, they were re-coating the pool deck, which filled the hallways with heavy fumes. Also, it was below 40 degrees outside, but for some reason, we needed to have our AC on. It might have been the heating in the hallway seeping through underneath the doorway. I imagine it'll get better later. Just not great accomodations at the moment.
- 3/5
The room was big but the fridge was WAY TOO SMALL, and did not work. The phone did not work and the room did have missing bedding for the sleeper sofa BUT..the front desk did fix the bed and phone quickly. The tech guy did try to fix the fridge but it still did not work correctly.
- 5/5
I love every bit of my stay will definitely be back.
- 5/5
Good experience
- 3/5
Room was fine. Lobby and all common areas reeked of cigarette smoke, which wasn't unexpected since we knew this hotel allowed smoking but still just gross. The room was very hot and despite us turning the heat off it stayed above 72. We had to put the AC on overnight and it was annoying because it would go on and off intermittently and wake us up.
- 5/5
Great stay. Great staff.
- 2/5
We went to the reception directly and they finally gave us a room which was more reasonable and clean.
- 4/5
This place is great. It’s right off the freeway and super close to Northstar the casino the hotel the parking and the staff were all great.I came in later than I expected, but the hotel clerk named Danny made check in easy. He even had an extra blanket delivered to my room because I get so cold at night. The check out in the morning was quick and easy and the Peets coffee was clutch so I could get caffeinated and on my way for the day.

- 5/5
good
- 4/5
Great property with plenty of dining and entertainment options however my room was less desirable. Tiny slow elevator, can’t access room floors from stairwell as it is only an exit. Room was quiet but very dated. The shower had very low water pressure and bathroom looked like it was in a hospital.
- 4/5
The food restaurants choices were ok.
- 3/5
the only thing we disliked about the whole stay was the parking. we had to carry our luggage from one side of the building to the other to get to the elevator.
- 3/5
A very noisy hotel. Staff was kind and check in/check out was a snap
- 5/5
We always love boomtown. Very kid friendly
- 5/5
The hotel is nice and has a basically a full kitchen with a full size fridge however there are no dishes or utensils whatsoever. So basically it’s quite silly. They’ll sell you a pan or spatula in the lobby. I suggested they allow guests to rent them out or something. I’ve never stayed at a place that offers a full kitchen but has no way to use it. The beds are so so. The pillows are comfy and the rooms are clean. The staff is very friendly. I just can’t get over the oddity of that kitchen situation. Parking is a breeze and there are tons of eateries right around the hotel.
- 4/5
Much improved since Best Western took over. Property and casino have received nice upgrades. Mattresses need to be replaced, but rooms and amenities are good. Mel’s Diner is always good.

We’ve been here before to play but never stayed. So this time we choose to stay and had a great time. Beautiful unit with a balcony. Staff was awesome. This was a birthday trip for my husband. We look forward to returning. Thank you!

- 5/5
We loved our stay at Boomtown! The staff was wonderful and our suite was beyond our dreams! Will definitely stay again, if given the chance
- 4/5
ADA room was far from the registration and restaurant. Bed and touoet too low. Had a tub vs a roll in shower.
- 3/5
No notice about the pool being closed. Staff was pretty meh about stuff. Beds are nice. Strong smell of cigarette and marijuana smoke throughout. Expected but giving others a heads up in case the smell bothers them. If your tall, inside tower 2 you might bonk your noggin on a few things.
- 2/5
Our initial encounter was with one of the most abrasive hotel receptionists ever. She was so unpleasant that it makes you wonder why she has a customer service job. The entire hotel reeks of cigarette smoke including the bedrooms which made it difficult to sleep. Their elevator smelled of puke. They could have sanitized it but didn’t. The beds and pillows were actually comfortable. But the bathrooms were not cleaned well. Even if a hotel is older, good customer service and cleanliness will make guests appreciate their stay. In this case, those key things were definitely a miss.
- 4/5
Enjoyed our visit.
- 3/5
While we understand it’s a casino, the long hike we had to make through all of the ‘entertainment’ to get to the elevator and then down to the end of the hallway and around the corner to our room was very frustrating for a weary traveller
