Clean up to date rooms, had everything we needed and even a few extra little touches that made it convenient. Including body wash shampoo conditioner, a couch and little kitchenette. I would stay again especially for the fair price giving it’s convenience of location

I showed up there at five o'clock in the morning wanting to get into the room i just worked all day and then drove an hour away to go to my hotel there.I paid for the whole day that would not let me until three o'clock in the afternoon. Management was very rude and told me and my husband to go to the beach and come back at three o'clock. So we came back at four p m in the afternoon went to the beach.Exhausted all day. When we got back, we were itching the whole time from the sheets, and then we found out there was bed bugs before in the same room 202. From other reviews there. Well that explains a lot why it was so cheap

Throwback back to my motel days. Friendly staff, rooms cleaned daily (unlike some recent chain hotel stays), convenient to restaurants, shopping and beaches. New go to stay for shark tooth hunting at Caspersen.

The room was clean and shower was roomy. Staff was great and kept us supplied with fresh towels. Loved the pool area.

Microwave and coffee machine functioned properly, but ample refrigerator barely cooled below room temperature and no freezer section therein. Air conditioning cooled the room comfortably and provided enough white noise to drown out very noisy commercial traffic from the highway. Also, the outside covered smoking section with two large tables and lighting was excellent, far away from the rooms but the wifi still worked well there. Comfortable beds, plenty of outlets, and no carpeting which is quite a benefit. Only Direct TV available. Good value for the price.

The room was pretty clean just needs more towels and toliet paper and a sponge or something to clean dishes that they let you use.

Parking lot was well lit, and people were using the pool regularly. The rocking chairs on property are a nice touch.

Plenty enough space my family of 5. Rooms were spacious and clean with plenty amenities like coffee machine, stove and mini fridge with plenty of counter space and cabinets. Also had a dining table and good sized TV. If you're looking for a nice room on a budget then I highly recommend staying here.

Room was filthy, furniture was so dirty I would not sit on it, bathroom walls were grey to 6" above the floor. wall was damaged, covered up and damage was painted with an entirely different color. Fumigated our luggage after check out. Would have gone elsewhere if we had not prepaid for the room. I have stayed in cheap hotels in 3rd world countries that were better. Staff was rude and refused to clean the room properly. when I had them make some copies for me and they charged me, they refused to give me a receipt for cash and wanted $1.50 to use may credit card. PETTY.

Very centrally located. Only downside were the pillows. A simple white pillow case is all you need. The decorative pillow covers didn’t give a comfortable feel. Im glad I brought my own! Other than that. It was great!

We stayed for 4 nights paying way to much money for what we got. Someone has spent a lot of money on this place but stopped short. Our “deluxe “ room had a small Kitchenette with no knobs on drawers and the plastic covering was half pulled off the fridge. The gentleman cleaning rooms was very nice, check in guy not so much. Getting extra bag of coffee was like pulling teeth. “We have coffee in the office/lobby. But it doesn’t open until 9 ! Will not return

Room was clean(ish) and parts were updated ( flooring,ac unit) but the bathroom needed a good scrub to remove soap scum, water stains . There were dark mismatched pillow covers in a silky material, (not white cases, couldn’t tell what was clean or not )towels were thin and old and somewhat grey. Office had a peculiar odour and the attendant was not friendly at all . Pool area looked nice though.

(1) The location of the lone entrance / exit is very inconvenient. Exiting north(west) bound much faster and easier if they could open up access to the road behind the hotel, Redfern Road. (2) The staff was oddly uninformed about local attractions. They were not aware that Caspersen Beach has been inaccessible by car since 2024. This resulted in lots of confusion and wasted time on our first day. They also told us we could reach it from the other side by walking about 20 minutes. Turns out it's more than 2 miles along the boardwalk (which I couldn't even run in 20 minutes). (3) Missing thoughtful touches. Low on toilet paper, but no extra roll visible. No foot bath outside for coming back from the beach. The manual lock that used to be on the interior of the door had been removed (leaving just the deadbolt on the handle). Hand soap was fixed to the wall where my kid couldn't reach. Nothing that would prevent me from coming back altogether, but in combination with #s 1 and 2, I won't be back.

The hotel is perfect for the area. It is family owned and operated. You can see that the owners are putting money into maintaining and upgrading the facilities. It is less than 10 minutes to the beaches.

Rooms are small but VERY clean and well-equipped. Comfy bed, good shower with shampoo, etc provided. Busy roads to get there but absolutely quiet at night for sleeping. Would stay again if in area for a night or 2.

A plus was room only $55/night and staff kept room clean but overall room 112 was grungy and not at all as nice as website pics. Also hot/cold faucets at kitchen and bathroom were reversed, which can be dangerous! And water supply ran brownish colored water - yuk! Additionally the fridge/freezer in 112 does not work. And to top it all off we found a dead cockroach inside the front door when arrived last night. No way does this room deserve the 8 rating shown by Expedia.

The room was clean. The people were nice and the laundry facilities were in good working condition. I really enjoyed having the refrigerator and microwave in the room as well. I was intent on saving money during my visit and I was definitely able to do that. I’ll be back.

We were pleasantly surprised. The Staff was helpful & courteous, our room was homey & clean. It was a quiet & peaceful area with no ruckus going on. Anytime we needed anything it was easy to get what we needed. We felt very welcome & our room was very comfortable, clean & tidy. The laundry facilities were not expensive & were available without having to wait. We spent a couple days at the pool & it was warm (nice temperature) & not crowded. We definitely will be back & highly recommend. We stayed at a place only a couple blocks away that was around the same price but wasn't nearly as nice. So far this has been our favorite ⭐👌

Great hotel and staff

Although the outside was not very impressive, the rooms were very nice. They had a coffee maker, refrigerator, & microwave. The room also had a kitchen table with chairs and a couch. Their heated outside pool was also very nice.

Clean room, comfortable beds, large mini-fridge.

Spacious rooms. Very comfortable accommodations. Well laid-out floor plan. The kitchen area was delightful and the refrigerator/freezer was a good size to accommodate all types of foods and beverages (no mini beverage can fridge here). The beds fresh and clean. And the bathroom, nicely updated with a walk-in shower and touch control vanity mirror. Plenty of seating options, and a nice-sized flat screen TV with full entertainment channel availability, just like home. All totalled, after this experience, I will not stay anywhere else.

However, so many of them have turned into sub standard housing. I was a little concerned when my husband booked this place. Im a freak about cleanliness. Well, it was absolutely charming, very clean, up to my standards, the housekeeper was a wonderful young man who obviously worked hard. I always leave housekeeping a tip, and he was so gracious every morning thanking me. The grounds were very well maintained lovely clean pool.. All outdoor lighting worked and was modern. A few outdoor sitting areas with lovely picnic tables. My only concern was it was loud being off a major artery. But did not interrupt our sleep. If you want to experience that old school motel feel in a modern clean environment. this is your place to go.

Friendly staff and this place is in a great location. It would have been perfect if the room was cleaner but I’m a clean freak. So to someone else it might be perfect. Definitely worth a stay.

My spouse is uncomfortable with me leaving the review I intended to. Suffice it to say, the hotel manager was fine, the room was less than expected and a great deal wasn't expected, but it was clean. The general assembly of guests that rolled in at night made staying more than 1 night uncomfortable and although we paid for 3 nights, we packed up after a mostly sleepless night and left the next morning.

It is an older motel, but our room was in good condition and remodeled. We had a very large room with three queen beds and a kitchen. They only complained is that the floors needed mopping more often as they made my children’s feet dirty. The pool was very clean. The staff were very accommodating. We would stay there again.

Location was in good proximity of the beaches. It was clean. The only complaint we had is the shower was slow draining. It filled up. The shower head either needs to be replaced or dipped in some CLR. They should consider relocating the fridge and microwave and extend the sink for more counter space.

The room I had wasn't the best I've ever had, nor was it the worst. It was more than adequate for the price, but probably not worthy of an 8.2 rating.

Internet password didnt work and they dont allow smoking ANYWHERE on the property, but it's clean.

This property was in the area that I needed to be for an appointment the following day. The room, bath area was clean comfortable for the night. I was a bit surprised that there wasn't a booklet of surrounding businesses and restaurants in the area. For the price I was satisfied. I will probably stay there again while I'm in the area again.

I book on reviews. THIS PROPERTY IS OVER-RATED on Expedia. It was rated 8.2 out of 10 with almost 700 reviews... similar ratings as the Hampton I stayed in the next couple nights. This property wasn't even close to Hampton standards, though you could see their effort. It had fresh paint and the bathroom construction materials were quality, but there was a lack of craftsman installation. There was a bit of dirt here and there in the corners of the room and it had an odor. A hardly discernable smell of cigarette smoke was in the comforter and small stains in the bedding. I dont want to bash this property....while it was at the bottom of my tolerance for standards, it was NOT a dump and the hotel staff was very pleasant. I just wish the reviews would have reflected it more accurately. Especially considering that I paid almost $200 a night.

Right off a busy road. Traffic could be heard all night. The towels had holes and were mismatched.

First the room is for smoking persons not for us . Smell terrible.

It was relatively inexpensive. Furniture and amenities were worn but clean. My issue was the brownish water that came out of water taps and shower. Bed was comfortable.

The room was small but comfortable. It was updated and very clean. Close to the highway but not noisy. Great for the one night I stayed.

On the positive side, the people running the hotel were very nice. The housekeeper gentleman was very friendly and said hi every day. The washer and dryer cost $3 each load and it didn’t dry my clothes very well but the host offered a free load and a refund to run another cycle. Overall very nice hotel but still needs some deep disinfection from the flooding.

Room was clean and fairly well equipped for our stay. Full sized oven and refrigerator. Sofa mattress was thin, but most are. Pool was great size, clean and heated. Unfortunately, the ice machine wasn't dispensing and the offers for repair were not until after we had to check out. Good place, would probably stay here again.

Front desk staff was polite and responsive. Would we stay here again? ABSOLUTELY. The issues below (we feel) were probably transient. THis was a great little place. WHY 4 not 5 STARS? -TV Channel selection was AMAZING, but frequently was left "searching for signal". Calling the office generated an offer for someone to come fix it, but then it would fix itself. Finally gave up and turned it off. -Hot water. No hot water in the morning for our showers. We let the shower run for 10-15 minutes but only got to "chilly / luke warm". Sitting out front with coffee, 3 other guests came from their rooms and asked if we had had hot water that morning. None for anyone.

The property itself was okay, but on a busy road and hard to get in and out of. The bed and pillows were not comfortable. The room also needs an iron and ironing board.

The room is small but clean. The bed is comfortable. The water in the sink and shower don’t get above lukewarm. That’s my only complaint.

The room was clean but it had a different smell when I walked in. Parking was free, wifi was great and the location was good too. The only negative was the air quality in the room really irritated my throat after spending the night there, I spent 2 nights there and it was the same thing both mornings. The next place I stayed was not an issue. I would stay there again except for the air quality.

My mom and I stayed at this property for two nights after being extremely disappointed in the place we originally booked at another property. The room was spacious and clean, the decor fun and there were two comfortable queen beds in the main room plus one more in a separate bedroom. The bathroom was clean and nicely renovated. The towels were old, so I would recommend you bring your own if something like that matters to you. There was a couch, desk, decently stocked (equipment, not food) kitchen area and a small, six person dining table that we used for puzzling. There were lots of channels to choose from on the tv and the wifi worked. There was an outdoor pool that we didn’t have time to use but that looked clean. Some people were arguing outside, late the first night and we couldn’t tell if it was guests or the owners. I can’t say if this is a regular occurrence, it only happened the one night. Overall we enjoyed the property. The size, decor, amenities and spaciousness of the rooms was pleasant and comfortable. The location in relation to the beach and downtown shopping was great. If you prefer a five star hotel experience, this isn’t it. But if you’re traveling with family on a modest budget and you need the extra space, this is a great choice.

This was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. It is Tiny. Ther is literally 2 feet from the wall to the end of the beds. The room appeared clean until we looked a little closer. The sheets had bug legs and many, many long black hairs. It appears they have tried to fix this oldy up but it still needs lots of help. I would NOT plan a vacation here. It is a bed and shower basically.

Perfect located near a Shopping Center with Restaurants. Perfect for one night, car parks directly at the Roomdoor. Rooms are simple but have all that you need for a short stay.

They overbooked and didn’t have my room I booked and paid for 6 weeks prior. I was not told till I pulled into the property neither the property or Orbitz bothered to let me know prior. I was left scrambling for a new room at the last minute and had to deal with Orbitz to arrange my refund back. Bush league, highly unprofessional. Will never do business with either again.

The pictures of the hotel do not show that it is a motel, not an "inn", and I didn't see any "suites". All of the rooms have doors that open to the outside. This is not a negative, and not a criticism - just be aware of what you get here. The room was spotlessly clean. The location was convenient. I would have appreciated facial tissues in the room.

While every other hotel/motel in the area was $200 a night, Sunshine was a good value at $85 per night. Rooms have been remodeled, but still very dated looking and remodel workmanship was sloppy. Bed was cozy. They should get new powdered creamer packets for the coffee….the ones supplied on my 3 nights were no longer powder, but more like peanut brittle consistency. They eventually melted in the coffee 😉

Very old and worn-out. The beds were like sleeping on cardboard. The office smelled of curry. Porn club next door so there were lots of people walking around. There were only a few cars in the lot. I should of taken that as a clue.

Great price. Room was very clean. Our only complaint was the AC was a large unit for a small room. It was difficult to get the temperature to a comfortable level and we woke up repeatedly during the night due to being too cold. The comforter was very heavy and kept slipping off the bottom of the bed which made the issue of being cold harder to deal with.

I didn’t give a 5th star because when I originally booked the room it was with a card I had to replace 5 months before the trip. Not realizing it, I didn’t change the card info over and they didn’t even try to contact me within the days leading up to the stay and they just canceled the booking. Makes the morning of travel full of anxiety thinking I wouldn’t have a place to stay for 4 days but luckily there were still rooms available.

This place is a little charm, its a perfect place if you are looking to stay near the beach and downtown Venice. I loved it. It has everything you need, the beds were too soft for my liking but comfortable for sure. We felt safe and comfortable. I would stay here again.

The staff is wonderful and the pool is beautiful!!!! Not handicap accessible. The rise to get into your door is about 5-6 inches. You cannot rely on your scooter to get in and out of the door. I am in a wheelchair and I had to drag my wheelchair in and out of the door each time I went in and out to take my dog to potty with that 5 to 6 inch eyes that was extremely difficult for me. I’m only 115 pounds and my dog is 114 pounds But the staff was phenomenal. They helped me as much as they could and the pool is sparkling, clean and beautiful and heated. I would stay there again with having to drag my wheelchair in and out, even though that sucked.

It was a sweet and comfortable place to say it was very clean. It wasn’t that far from the beach. There were lots of places to go eat had a cute little kitchenette. The bathroom was remodeled and really cool I will definitely be going back there again when I go to Venice Beach

This was a last minute trip and this is a very busy time, got lucky to find a room here, super clean, quick check in, got in late and had to leave early so we didn’t get a chance to go in the pool but it looked nice, bathroom was renovated at looked great and was surprisingly happy about the pillowcase not being white. Have a more homey feel. Would definitely stay again.

Close to beach, nice large apartment suite

Good location as far as close to everything. There is a Jack and Jill adult store next door but they tall privacy fences around the hotel prevented my kids from noticing. Staff was friendly, attentive, and the rooms were very clean and great sizes. We booked the family 2 room suite which wasn't updated like the single room we booked for my mom, so as far as aesthetics go theres definitelyroom for improvement there. My moms room looked beautiful with the new floors and refurbished bathroom for whatever it's worth. Pool was nice but on the small side. The bathroom water pressure/temps were great. The beds however were not so great. Between the 2 rooms there were 4 beds total. My moms king and one of our three queens were uncomfortably firm. The other two felt like the center would concave at any moment. Overall we were all happybwith our stay and thankful for the last minute accommodations.

Was able to see the room prior to paying for it. Older nostalgic motel but our room was remodeled in its entirety and was great-everything modern updates. Quite, close to stores, restaurant,, beach only 13 minutes away. Safe area. Only an over night stay but would stay again. The pool was open and working!!

Loved the large walk-in shower. The outdoor pool was clean and warm. Did not like having an adult store next door and saw one roach in the room the morning we were leaving.

Good location, clean, affordable, perfect short stay

We stay in hotels around the beaches quite a bit and this one has been my least favorite. The location is in a weird intersection that is difficult to get in and out of. The room was mediocre as far as cleanliness. Coffee grounds left on the counter top and coffee maker, there was sand on the floor. The beds are uncomfortable, pillows are flat. I asked for extras and got the side eye but he did end up giving them to me. There was three of us in the room and only two sets of towels. After a long scorching day at the beach, we just wanted a shower. The last thing I wanted to do was haggle for another set of towels. After some negotiation I was given an extra towel. The AC was GREAT! What a welcome treat to have a cool room after a hot exhausting day. The pool was fun. We met some other friendly guests so that made our stay a little better. This hotel is close to everything in Venice. The pier, beach and all the shopping.

Stayed there with my mom, 2 sisters, and daughter. Service was great and very comfortably fit all 5 of us in 1 room. Great price, clean pool, and friendly staff. Furthermore, the kitchen was clean and we were able to use the oven. Highly recommend!

Comfortable

4/29/24 Stayed 2 nites. Nice, quiet, clean, no odor. Older and not fancy, but we don't need fancy, just needed a nice place to stay.😊
