The customer service was really good, but I would really recomend that they have security around the premises. There's a lot of crackheads, and shady people around the area. The smell of marihuana was really strong around the area. The rooms need to upgrade the AC, because sometimes the small AC doesn't cool the whole room.

I don’t recommend staying here if you wanna suffer of a heat stroke. The AC DOESNT WORK, when we first walked in the room was burning hot and then we turned on the ac to see if it needed a bit of time to cool the room, so we decided to leave, by the time we came back the room was the same temperature. We ended up having to ask to borrow some fans from a family member and it still was so hot. I ended up feeling so sick after that because I felt dehydrated and worse part is that I’m pregnant. Again do not stay here especially with this Arizona heat.

I was charged $75 dollars for a towel I used to clean up a spilled drink they never went over having towels for stains specifically like they said we should have been told all the rules just sorry it’s gonna be $75

Staff was friendly. Room was big. Floors needed to be replaced. Bathroom was clean, and I had enough towels. The breakfast in the morning was good. Had eggs, sausage links, and beagles. For the price is vas a good value.

I went there for a work trip. The hotel is right off I-10 and has many restaurants within walking distance, if you didn't feel like traveling. Staff were kind, helpful, and professional. You felt like home while you were here.

The room was great! Updated and clean and quiet. The o ly reason I did not give 5 stars is the property itself needed some updating on the outside. A bit rough. However the price was right and close to all.

Room was alright. Minor maintenance issues (noisy A/C, small hole in bathtub, no fan in bathroom (so was very steamy after a shower), and wall was bowed out in one spot. Beds were comfortable and fridge worked. Staff was excellent! Good stay for the price overall!

Front desk staff was really kind, especially in supporting a guest using a wheelchair.

First of all, it’s not an Inn or a Suite. It simply a motel. When I walked into the hotel, the air was completely show us approximately 80° in the room. When I went to the restroom, I saw a baby spider in the sink and one on the bathtub. The phone did not work at all. There was no way to contact front desk. I’m not too sure why, because it was plugged in, but there was no dial tone. The aesthetics of the room was nice, my only suggestion would be to invest in some sheets that are not scratchy.

Hooks for bath towels would be nice. AC kept room cool but was only quiet on low. Noisy room next to us. Place needs a makeover inside and out. The space around the pool is drab which makes it uninviting, despite the heat.

My room was clean and well equipped. The exterior of the building does not make a good impression. The only specific observation I can make is the landscaping around the pool, which struck me as dead grass and/or bare ground. Maybe the buildings need fresh paint -- something not gray. But t I think they are architecturally obsolete.

Found drinks that weren't ours in the fridge. And the back door was not locked.

There was an event at the hotel the night we stayed and the music was so loud it sounded like it was coming from the room next to us and the event didn’t end until 2 in the morning so I couldn’t get any sleep and all the people from the event took all the parking so there was no where to park.

Room was comfortable and clean, breakfast was good, lots of parking, a/c worked. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Pool looked clean, although I didn’t get a chance to use it. Conveniently located right off the freeway. Wish there was a small bar of soap for handwashing instead of body wash. Tub was very slick when showering and no grab bars. Nothing in the way of landscaping around the hotel, and didn’t find any equipment in exercise room. Overall stay was pretty good. No coffee maker or hairdryer in room.

The guy at check in was one of the rudest people I’ve ever had. When you showered the bathroom flooded because the shower pan was to low and the curtain to high. The room smelled gross when you walked in. The homeless lite a fire outside the fence. All in all I will never stay there again it was nasty

Great price for the convenient location. Everything we needed for our 1 night stay. It looked like everything had been renovated, which was nice. My only complaint was the bathroom shower drain pan was too small and not enough room for the walk in shower to drain so water poured out a little. We used the towel bath mat to barricade the water so it wouldn't run all over the bathroom. Everything was clean but maybe a little more cleaning of the floor because when we first walked in there it was a little dusty in the corners ,minor but I noticed . Con’s: The room had 2 doors. The door to the pool didn’t close unless it was deadbolted. There were at least 2 rooms where people were selling drugs or sex out of. There were a lot of homeless crackheads about. At any given time there were around 5 wandering around. There did not seem to be any ability to get linens unless housekeeping was on the clock. The staff didn’t keep up with the breakfast bar very well.

It was quiet area. Only stayed one night, but room was very dusty as if hadn’t been swept. A lot of rust in places around the room. Ca tell property is older and needs to be renovated. For the price you get what you pay for. Breakfast was good.

The property itself is not the best but the rooms are updated and clean and the beds are comfortable. The parking lot is well and brightly lit. Breakfast was good. It is not a high end resort so don’t bring those expectations. If you need a decent and affordable room for sleeping and getting ready to go enjoy Tucson, this is the place for you.

Room smelled like mold, shower was leaking into the floor. Little gnats in the drains. Floors very dirty- gray so they look clean but don’t walk in them. The sheets I think were clean but they were stained and looked dirty. There is no blow dryer or coffee maker and the noise was interstate and police activity noise. Suitable to stay overnight for business no frills but needs some maintenance. The bed was sadly very soft and sinking not what I need to sleep well. It appeared the place was huge but they had few rooms occupied or available making me think some have been condemned or something. I mean what is the deal? Anyway I didn’t check out the amenities I was busy the rest of the time I was there.

First off staff is great so I’ll give them that! Property does not feel safe and is very dated. Best way to describe it is land lord special. Bugs in the room. Room smelt like weed. Homeless and questionable characters roam the property. This is to be expected being close to downtown but solo female travelers especially beware if I was you I would spend alittle extra for another property!

Rooms seems to be recently remodeled but there is no hooks in bathroom to hang any clothes or towel. No towel rod to hang even handtowels. We only stayed for a night. Reached later in night and left early morning. Complimentary breakfast was good. But we won’t stay here if I have to stay for more than 1 night.

Well when we first checked in I didn’t really notice but it was super stuffy in out suit it was so late I didn’t really think about it twice I turned on the ac and passed out then at 230 in the morning my lady is waking me up telling me that it’s hot, now I remind you she is 7 months pregnant and she already runs hot so I rolled over probably not the best decision but I’m already committed so I’m rolling with it but I noticed that I was really hot as well literally drenched in sweat so I get up to check the ac units not working ether one of them I call down to the front desk and I hear a voice say let me call you back. 20min go by nothing, I call down again, no answer so I’m like shoot she ditched me go down stairs nowhere to be found… so I’m thinking to myself this person is crazy does she not realize my girl is 7 months I’m in a panic thinking should I just text Ana or not. Ana is the manager sweetest person you’ll ever meet besides that I am pissed by now. Get back to the room and on the way I see a shorty walking my direction tiny squeaky voice says I have your room ready sir ……I’m floord….. I mean I couldn’t believe it this kinda stuff never happens but this night it did super service over here at the lion just wanted to say thanks to Ana for keeping such great employees and especially want to thank a Miss Norma you did it girl you deserve to be recognized for all that you do!!!!

Had a nice stay. The AC was kinda loud and the room I was in could use counter space and a place to hang hand towels close to the sink in the bathroom. The shower also could use some holding spot for washing items.

The room we stayed in had a busted front door which made it difficult to secure. We also had a dead cockroach in the room.

I liked that there were refillable bottles in shower instead of the tiny one use throw away containers. Eco friendly! Also no plastic bags in trash receptacles in room. Just like in Europe!

Horrible customer service

First, the staff was great but unfortunately they cannot make up for the horrible conditions of the property. I was very badly worn and the room we stayed in smelled of sewage when we walked in. We just needed a place to sleep for the night but the noise from the traffic in front was awful. If I had known of any of these conditions, I would have found someplace else to stay but it was late. AND WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!!

The rooms were adequate. The door latch was broken. The pool was filthy. The laundry room was very dirty and smelled of vomit.

There is a severe cockroach problem. Every night I saw multiple cockroaches in the bathroom. I thought they were coming out of the bathroom drain but there is a huge crack between the wall and floor they also come out of. The floor was sticky and filthy, anything that touches it e.g. socks or towels turn black. If you can afford better, I would say you definitely should not stay here. The other motel down the road is nicer or if you go further into the centre of town the hotels and area are much nicer.

I'll start by saying that the staff here is amazing. From check-in, to check-out, everyone we encountered was amazing. As for the property itself, it was less than impressive. The property was clean, for the most part. It's supposed to be a non-smoking property, but there were people smoking all over the place, and cigarette butts all over the walkways. The toilet paper holders were broken, so the rolls would fall off whenever used. There was one tiny garbage can, next to the bed. The air conditioning unit was dirty/full of dust. No soap to wash hands or anything like that. Towel/bath mat looked like it hadn't been washed ever. Shower curtain wasn't long enough to keep water inside, so the floor was all wet by the time the shower was done. If you get cold easily, bring your own blanket. The ones they have are really just sheets. It's a "you get what you pay for" place, which is not unusual for places off the freeway like this is. It's fine if you need a bed for a night, but wouldn't recommend for a long stay.

Chaotic check-in and check-out. The hotel was unorganized due to hosting the gem and mineral show. Did not tell me at check-in that they were not offering the continental breakfast. Overall the hotel was dirty and unkept, on top of the commotion of the gem show going on.

Brandi was rude and had an attitude with us when we comforted her about roaches being in our room. She came up with excuses to try and have us stay in the room with bugs instead of comping us with a new room. She on multiple occasions refused to clean or assist with the room and would commit the cardinal sin of having the guest use the plunger or clean the room ourselves. it’s beyond embarrassing. Every time my girlfriend and I stay here we end up going through 3 different rooms before we find one with decent environment. It’s either roaches, dirty rooms, no AC, or dead bugs everywhere. It seems to be obvious that the cleaning ladies don’t clean the rooms at all. On multiple occasions we’ve had to ask for someone to clean our room before we even settle down. Even then they just do a sweep and there’s still issues with the room following such as dirty showers with dry soap from the previous guests and serious plumbing issues with the place. Every other time you use the toilet it will clog. The maintenance man is the best thing about the place he’s hardworking and always gets the job done I commentate his work. It’s the shame the rest of the staff doesn’t share his work ethic.

It’s okay. The rooms are great.

The rooms are neglected and dirty. Towels and pillow cases were stained. No hair dryer and No breakfast was available. Parking was overbooked due to a local event so we had to park far from our room. Online pictures are not accurate at all.

It was not disclosed on the web site that they are under renovations. No breakfast. No acess to lobby or court yard.

Honestly one of if not the dirtiest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. $64 for one night I guess you get what you pay for…Blood stained on the underside of one of the pillows that I unfortunately didn’t notice until the next morning so I couldn’t go somewhere else, Lime- coated shower head that wasn’t even attached to the wall, black and white stains on the shower curtain, dirty sink faucet and smudges on the mirror…. WOW I have never been so disgusted by a room in my life I’ll never stay here again and I will warn everyone I can about staying here as well. I’d rate 0 stars if I could. And the nerve to charge a deposit too (at least I got THAT back). Not to mention the breakfast was cold as well.

There is a $100 deposit that isn't listed on the website. There is a gem and mineral show with tents that cover the pool area and parking area that was not mentioned when reserving the room and also because of the show there is no continental breakfast. I was very disappointed with the amenities and check in. There is a door for patio access that is stuck and a stick drilled across the bottom window which has no opening??? I would not stay here again.

The room was spotless as usual. This is my "go-to" place to stay in Tucson. It's now luxerious, but, it's very comefortable. Also, the pictures are always accurate. I feel like it's one of the "Best bangs for your buck" around. Also, the staff is always friendly and helpful. Can't beat the free breakfast either. Perfectly, centrally located. The manager, Annalisa, is one of the friendliest, attentive people I've come across in the hotel industry. Red Lion Inn & Suites in Tucson definitely deserves 5 stars for its affordability, customer service, and cleanliness.

The staff is HORRENDOUS!!!! The nightmare night on my vacation is what refer to the night i stayed there. Staff is bad but when i got the plessure of meeting the manager everything made sense. 0 out of 5 stars!!!!

The room was clean, the staff was friendly and kind. The room was newly remodeled and looked very nice inside. The lobby was clean and neat. Our room was quiet and not a lot of noise from outside or upstairs. The outside seemed a little run down but I would definitely stay again. I was caught a little off guard by the 100 Deposit as I had already paid for my room. But they said it is refundable so I’m hoping to have that back quickly as I wasn’t expecting it.

I saw the '2-star hotel' designation in the Expedia listing, but it's usually ok. I've traveled a lot, although I'm getting old and spoiled. I pulled into the parking lot. The place looks like a dump, hard to figure out where the office is. I drove around looking for it, and there were a bunch of people smoking in the parking lot behind it. I went into the lobby, where it looked and smelled old and gross, and reluctantly got checked in. Drove back to my room past the suspect teenage cigarette smokers and opened my door to a scent not unlike a hospital. Harsh cleaners had ground the grime away in this room for decades, and you know that there'd been grime, because the lingering scent of it was right below the cleaner smell. It was just really run-down and smelly. I ended up just going to the lobby and telling them I wouldn't be staying there, and requesting my money back from Expedia.

The staff at Red Lion Inn & Suites Tucson is very friendly and helpful. The room was adequate, a bit run down and needs deeper cleaning after stays. Specifically the floors. The staff is making an effort to attract a better clientele however they definitely have a challenge. We stayed for 3 nights and were woken up each night by others staying.

I liked the place, but I could it’s being renovated. It’s not to the standard of other Sonestas I’ve stayed at.

The hotel was clearly mostly empty, but they put us in a room right next to other guests. Guests in a nearby room proceeded to have a profanity-laden argument at 2:00 AM; to our surprise this did not wake up our children but detracted from the atmosphere for my wife and me.

Room was not very clean. You could not walk from the shower to the bed without your feet turning black. There was bugs crawling on the bathroom floor. We could not get the tv to turn on. Because this was right off of the highway, there was alot of road noise at all hours of the day and night.

Good value and great location. They had nice toiletries, decent breakfast, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Easy walk to downtown, the mercado/good restaurants, and like half a block to the streetcar. Being by the fwy (like many other hotels) it was a bit noisy and some of the guests were loud overnight but all and all i was happy with the stay and would come back.

Clean non smoke smelling rooms, clean property, quiet, good breakfast, nice professional staff.

There was a wall made of concrete lattice crumbling down over the stairway area. Even though it had a Caution yellow plastic band on it, this was nor really contained. The injure risk of more parts coming off was there.

Cons: - LOUD, like there's a party ; Hear drunk people left and right. - 3 doors - entrance, side and back ( if you're on the bottom not sure about top floor. That made me feel unsafe - No fitness ( not that it mattered to me but just an FYI the room was empty). - Stained sheets, room needed to be repaired. Overall it gave me an ick feeling. I slept on top of a towel and used my shirt as a pillow case. I couldn't sleep cause I felt uneasy with the drunks everywhere. I had to leave the next day, couldn't stay another night. If you HAVE to stay there, I recommend bringing bed sheets, towels, ear plus, and wipes. Pictures reflect the hotel to this date. Wish the owners would at least invest in the inside of the hotel.

Once we were in the room, we were missing towels. Of the complete set we had, one was obviously used. The floor was swept in common areas, but in the corners, it was dusty. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and nice. If I could rate the staff alone, it would be an easy 10. But the hotel itself was old, run down, and dirty.

The space was great. They took two rooms and made it into one. Living room on one side a powder room with a sink in one bathroom, the other bathroom was the toilet and shower. The cleanliness was what lacked the most. I don’t think the floor hadn’t been cleaned for many visits. It was covered with debris and dirt and funky stuff. I wore my flip flops even in the shower. The curtain in the bathroom didn’t reach the floor to keep the water inside the shower so everytime we showered the bathroom floor flooded as you can see the mold around the shower and the baseboard swelled up with water as well. This would be a great space if it were maintained. Seems as if the staff was lacking as I asked for an extra blanket and was told they didn’t have any. Housekeeping came around and wanted to clean but we were still there so no problem but when I asked for clean towels from using ours to keep the bathroom from flooding, we got told they only have one and no others were offered or checked into to see if we could get another one for my partner. A/C went out the first night we were there. The front office lady was apologetic when she heard said it was unacceptable. She was the one who accommodated us and made it not so bad. Plenty of free parking. Over all okay….. could have been better.

Clean room, friendly, Staff. But there was homeless people around the Carl’s Jr. right across from my room. They require $100 deposit aside from your room rate. . Did not complete our stay as we left the next day, and we did not get a refund. Also The room smelled bad.

Fair warning for those that choose to stay here. For starters, the staff was very nice BUT there was a foul odor that hit us as soon as we walked into the room, as if the room hadn’t seen fresh air in a decade. The courtyard shared a resemblance to the prison in the Walking Dead, very desolate and eerie. Within the same parking lot, there was a Carl’s Jr. constantly surrounded by a homeless encampment. Hoping others take this into account before their stay. We did not complete our stay and even with not being able to be refunded, we chose to book elsewhere.

Avoid if possible!! Check in was smooth but when we got to our assigned room, the deadbolt was locked and we could not gain access. We went back to the front desk where they reprogrammed the key. Our second attempt at gaining access to the room was unsuccessful, again. This time, an employee met us at the room. When they attempted to open the room, the security latch on the inside prevented us from being able to open the door and the employee got on her radio where we overheard her say “someone is in the room and it smells like Fentanyl”. We decided to get a refund and leave as it did not seem like a safe place to stay. The front desk employee was helpful with the refund and they didn’t seem surprised about our experience here.

The area is not good

The customer service was great, Ana the receptionist that helped us with check in was amazing at accommodating our needs. The room was very clean, tv programming was excellent and parking was great. No hassle at all. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

So for some reason, I guess the service is not exactly what is cracked up to be, but as far as the amenities and the hotel itself, it’s great I had always had to ask for towels or sheets and toilet paper because we didn’t get any service. No, no one clean our room. I cleaned my room.now I’m checking out and after been here exactly a week I actually take that back the second day I asked for no service and just towels maybe they assumed that I wasn’t gonna want service the rest of the time so I actually went to the office and asked for service. Now it’s 4 days since then with no service but I think if they get the housekeeping on task and on point then they will do good and may turn around the whole black cloud that has hung over this property for years. The manager was very nice and helpful in finding a place to eat. I didn't feel safe with the neighbors and people in the area. I would stay here for one night but not safe, with my kids.

I stay here quite frequently and in all honesty as a single man with no family looking for a place that’s quiet , convenient and comfortable. This isn’t a bad option. Right off the freeway and even then you don’t really hear a lot . I wish they added hair dryers in all rooms but that’s about it. I really do enjoy my stays here.

I liked that it was clean and very affordable. The beds were nice and there was fresh coffee in the morning.

We were put in a room next to one they were apparently renovating. Was woken up by hammers pounding in the wall at 7am. I called the front desk and she assured me that construction doesn’t start until 9am. It finally stopped after 20 minutes. When I was checking out I said they were definitely doing construction in the room next to ours. She said I know I asked them to keep it down. Not even sorry let alone compensation for that kind of wake up. Will not go back.

The motel was old. It was clean, bedding was comfortable. Had all the room essentials, fridge, microwave, iron & ironing board. It wasn't the best place I have stayed but the price & location was great.

What saved the place was the stuff, they were awesome!! At check in and breakfast which was nice; due to the hotel appearance I was expecting a bit less. The staff was quick to restock and made sure nothing was missing during breakfast. Nice room and decent breakfast.

The worst was not be able to watch tv because its necesary the technician and to ask for him in his work time. I like to Watch the News or a movie before to sleep. The only good thing is that is cheap the room . But it is necessary the depósit of 100 dollars. For that seems to me it is necessary to report to the office if something you find irregular when you enter in your room.

La persona de housekeeper nos abrió la puerta el primer día que nos quedamos, ella entró hasta casi la cama de nosotros, solo dijo que lo sentía y que si hasta cuando nos quedábamos, cuando teníamos las 2 noches pagadas desde que hicimos el check in, a los 30 minutos llegó otra persona a tocar la puerta casi tumbándola porque tampoco sabia que nos quedábamos mas tiempo, fue una falta de respeto y privacidad enorme, no tienen comunicación entre los empleados.

Rooms are clean, but small. It is a LONG walk from most rooms to the front desk area due to the colossal courtyard (pool is normal-sized). Hot breakfast items run out at some point, so you should get there early, otherwise you'll have to go asking for stuff as I did. No shade in the parking lot, so you can't leave perishables in your car. Massive ants walking around outside the rooms, thankfully they didn't get in.

Breakfast was with enough options for the price we paid. Kids enjoyed. Overall good experience and kindly request clean around the property like stairs, parking lot etc.

The stay was nice. Nice room. Could use a little deeper cleaning, but I understand the struggle of housekeeping. Found a dead bed bug in the bed, NOT happy about that at all. Overall I’d say 3.5 stars. I’m happy.

The room was nice and everything looked good and clean, but the AC did not work and the freezer did not freeze. Those are my only complaints but besides that the bed was comfortable and I was able to remove the chair to the AC for a little bit. There was also a few homeless people outside but it looks like security takes them off pretty well and quick. He was good with the flashlight

Would not recommend, room was old and worn out, didn’t feel clean, TV didn’t work, no cold water only hot, ac had one speed only, no bedspreads on the beds. The whole property looked dirty and unkept. The woman at check-in was terribly unfriendly. The entire stay was unsatisfactory.

Also the stripping of the door way was missing and flying ants and bugs keep coming in I had to put a towel down. Also fridge wasn't keeping cold. I stay in #132

It has been good but it's was bad this time around especially when I came to using the rest room and you had to go to the office cause they didn't answer the phone to it was not working properly and you can't relax on a good day off because red lion did have their part squared away

It’s a nice hotel in a bad area

Staff was super nice. Room was clean, bed was really comfortable. Air conditioner worked well. Check-in went fast and easily. The hotel has seen better days and looks it. My room smelled very very strongly of cigarette smoke. I would have liked a secondary indoor lock on the door.

We stayed there for a weekend there was some bugs in the room, not enough towels,a/c was not that cold,and the romote for the tv was broke. I ask to stay one more night because we had to and they said ok will just add it to the card and we can have the same room. The next day housekeeping was banging on th door saying we have to check in go to the front desk so i did they told me i have to check in online for my res and i thought they did that for me already.

I was asleep due to having to go to work early and my significant other was locked out woke me up saying front desk didn't want to renew her key. As her email and phone number is on the reservation, she's the one who made us this reservation.

The room was decorated as shown in the picture, but the room was run down. For example, the toilet paper holder in bathroom was broken beyond any simply repairs. The grounds were also showing signs of disrepair. We had a downstairs room & were disappointed to be woken up at 10pm by very noisy upstairs neighbors. Noise went on for hours and when I called the front office close to midnight, I was given a dismissive response. Upon checking out early the next am, I left a message for a manager to call me to discuss these issues. I have left 2 more messages and never received a call back. The front desk staff during the day that I interacted with were kind, but I cannot recommend staying here.

I will definitely stay there again. The only bad thing i have to say is that it was hard to take a shower because the water got extremely hot! There was no cold water at all to turn the water cooler. Other then that its a great hotel to stay at.

We returned to the hotel around 7:30 PM, at which point our room was finally ready. Unfortunately, upon inspection, we found the room to be unsatisfactory. The following morning, after taking a shower, I wiped the floor with a towel and was alarmed to see it become black with grime. I was concerned about being charged for the towel due to its condition. Additionally, the room had a strong mildew odor, which further detracted from our experience. Given our exhaustion from traveling, we considered leaving the hotel but ultimately decided to stay. Lastly, all the staff were rude and unkind, we felt unsafe. Oh, breakest was toast bread and coffee when i asked if that was all, the bell lady rudely smiled in a sarcastic way.

I sent you a message regarding this facility. I did not check in at this place. I’d rather sleep in my car. This place is located next to a freeway. The building is old and looked like from a horror movie. I went in the building, the interior did not look the same on the website. The walls are bright yellow. The whole place looks dirty. I talked to the front desk personnel just to tell her I am not checking in. The lady i spoke with said that the pictures on the website are old pictures and have not been updated . I requested a refund and she said it is non refundable. Stop deceiving people! This is not right! . Wasted my money. This facility need to update the pictures on the website. Why are they even in business when there’s nothing good about this place. I would really appreciate if you will issue me a refund. Thank you and please have a manager contact me.
