Reviews
The Arizona Inn is a historic property with beautiful grounds and a charming atmosphere. Guests appreciate the attentive staff, comfortable rooms, and various amenities such as the pool, library, and afternoon tea. However, some guests express concerns about outdated furnishings, musty smells in rooms, and issues with food quality and service in the dining room.

The Arizona Inn is has the old world charm with modern amenities and is located in a convenient location in central Tucson. My room was situated in the same building as the kitchen and staff cleaning storage room. The odor was a bit unpleasant outside and inside my room.

Beautiful property. Our room was spacious. You can start to see the wear and tear on the property.

The bathtub didn’t drain and it took two days to fix. Pool wasn’t cleaned and the tennis courts needed to be rolled. Six o’clock coffee in the morning is too late for those traveling from the east coast. The gift shop was only opened on certain days. The grounds and staff were great. The food and drinks were overpriced and took forever to get. There were only two other groups in the dining area. The bed was comfortable and it was real quiet in the room. All in all I would give it three stars out of 5.
- 4/5
The restaurant had outdoor tables and the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The menu was the usual resort offerings. The mattress was slightly old and tended to sag on my side although it seemed fine on the other side.

Just the most beautiful place, will come again each time I am in Tucson. Fantastic historic hotel, gorgeous swimming pool area, beautiful grounds, great library with complementary coffee and tea. Loved the room with its patio. Very nice brunch outside. Nothing

Beautiful historic hotel & grounds Ee enjoyed the pool, library, afternoon tea. Our room was a king first floor with a delightful shaded sitting area in front. Located in a quiet historic neighborhood. Bicycles weren’t in good working order, which is a shame because the neighborhood & UA campus is great to explore by bike

Had a very lovely, and too short, stay at the Inn. I appreciated the history of the property. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and the restaurant food was delicious.

Super friendly staff, grounds are beautiful, room was very large and clean and the pool was amazing along with the restaurants. Wish I had stayed here the last 4 years my daughter was at U of A. Best hotel in the area by far!

The property was so beautifully landscaped. The interior was incredible from the library to the dining room The food was incredible at the Audubon Bar and Grill. Very accommodating when I requested bread. The amenities in the room were incredible -- a glass decanter filled with cold water. Nice for Arizona visitors! I didn't get a map of the property until I left (when I needed to find ice for my travel cup). Also I was disappointed that the DIning Room was closed Monday when I visited. But I was able to look inside and feel the ambience of an era gone by.

This is an absolutely beautiful place! Our room was amazing, huge big comfortable bed, a little Soft, the gorgeous room, huge closets, really nice coffee in the rooms, luxury towels, robes, and very very quiet! The grounds are amazing, the restaurants are excellent, we ate breakfast, dinner there a couple times, sat at the bar a few times, they have homemade ice cream, excellent! Very helpful, attentive, the grounds are gorgeous, the pool is relaxing, and there’s poolside service as well! Beautiful place, gorgeous and well kept gardens, cactus, and outdoor seating if you want for all your meals! We also had a small patio outside of our room, absolutely beautiful Wright in the heart of the city !

The Inn was a real treat and nicely located in the middle of Tucson. You could just stay there and be happy with the pool, gym, ping pong, croquet, restaurants and private patio’s. We did wish they had a microwave and a dresser for the room but it wouldn’t prevent us from going back.

Everything! It had such a cool old western charm that I didn’t want to leave ! Staff was super helpful and nice , bartender made some great cocktails and we didn’t eat much on site but breakfasts were good! Pool was large and not too crowded , rooms were comfy! Gardens were great! I’d love to come back one day ! Nothing! Would have liked a better bathtub, they were just standard bath tubs but other than that it was perfect!

The Inn is a legendary historic spot in a lovely and quiet low rise residential neighborhood. My room was very quiet with a large walk in closet and a private patio with garden view. The food is excellent and there is a more formal dining room as well. The library is enormous and welcoming, with afternoon tea served 3 days a week and daily newspapers. The vibe is elegant, old school, quiet but not stuffy. The pool is fabulous; a good size, thick new lounge cushions and umbrellas and on site food service in the early afternoon. The gardens are beautiful and the site is filled with desert plants and enormous palm trees…the hotel grounds being 19 acres, you feel happily isolated but it’s a quick ride to museums and restaurants. Unlikely bonus if you need laundry…very affordable and priced by the pound instead of the usual $6 per bra, etc of hotels at this price. Overall, a great experience. It did seem to have a majority of much older clients (70s and up) with a mix of younger ones (30s-50s.) I doubt this quieter spot would appeal to hip/trendy/Insta/designer obsessed 20 somethings. There is no room service available. The lobby and library decor is formal (beautiful antique furniture and art) but may not appeal to some. Only the second floor rooms are lower priced.

We had a lovely stay at the Arizona Inn. It is somewhat dated (furniture, bathroom) but it was wonderfully quiet. Our room looked out on the gardens and the mountains beyond. There was free parking across the street but no real shops around. We ate one dinner there and two breakfasts and it was all excellent. My only suggestion would be to put new plumbing in the shower. When I turned the shower on, I could not get all of water to come out of the shower head; half of it went down the drain from the spigot. Not a good thing in a desert!!
- 5/5
Wonderful property! Private, beautiful gardens, peaceful and historic.

This is a special place. The grounds are spectacular/beautiful. Nice tennis courts, fitness room, pool -- amenities are great to have at one's disposal. The artwork and furnishings in the public spaces / lobby / the library (wow!!) are amazing. Ate at the Audubon restaurant twice for dinner and once for breakfast. Throw away any thoughts of mediocre hotel restaurant food. Enjoy it while you are there. Bonus points to the bartender for an A++++ martini.

One of the great old hotels in the American West. There is a unique and special feeling there. It's not a modern hotel with modern amenities but it is kept up to a high standard and very comfortable. There is a reason why I haven't been able to get a room there during the first week of February in the past 30 years. Visitors with my same schedule always return.

I had been looking forward to that sweet treat. But left the creme brulee in the refrigerator untouched as I did not want to get any sicker. This discomfort prevented me from sleeping soundly. I am uncertain if the food was somehow contaminated or if proper hygiene practices were not followed.

Great property, beautiful grounds. Very attentive staff. The library is wonderful as well. Wish there was more chairs to sit in on the grounds. Clustered in pairs and we had 3 people. Air conditioning could have worked better and the room is in need of an upgrade, but it was large and comfortable. Let’s see what Steve Kerr and the new group can do for this beautiful, historical and charming property.

Beautiful hotel. Stayed for 3 nights in a room with patio-mostly private patio. Nice pool-cold water, towels and sunscreen provided. Cushioned lounge chairs and cushioned chairs for shaded area with tables. Ping pong and croquet games available. Ping pong table was close to my room so was a bit loud, but it was happy loud, lots of laughing. Coffee in library was great! Main restaurant closed during summer but bar restaurant was open. A bit pricey and food wasn’t the best-no salt added so was a bit bland. Pianist was a nice touch. Overall-4/5 stars. Had a bit of an old building with previous water damage smell inside room. There were ants & lizards outside. There is a bit of a silver fish issue inside room. Otherwise I loved it and will probably stay again!

The patio is my favorite place to dine, but there is no sign that says seat yourself. That would make it easier for guests. In addition, the food runners need to take a beat to allow the guests to see if they received the correct order because the servers don’t reappear until long after the food has been served. My only negative comments, but in a hotel of this quality, these should be rectified.

My one complaint would be that our room had just warm water. Showering was ok but I would have liked the water to be hotter.

I liked the beautiful grounds. The food was excellent . The gift shop very nice. I was paying $800 for two nights. They put us in a terrible room the first night. I expressed disappointment and they put us in a better room the second night but I still paid $400 for a terrible room— small, dark and dingy. Left bad taste~ won’t go back and not sure Intrust Expedia !

This is a very special property built as a place to enjoy the mild winter and dry air of Tucson. The rooms and grounds are meticulously maintained. The interior public spaces are grand, furnished with antique furniture built on site. The high standards for maintenance and the quality of the staff make this place as good as it ever was. On site amenities as good as can be found anywhere.

This is a gem in the middle of Tucson. It has a lot of history and all the rooms are like coming home. The service is excellent and it is a long time family business. The food service is excellent also.

The Arizona Inn is a true gem with a wonderful history and beautiful serenity that was a balm to the soul. We will never stay anywhere else in Tuscon again. This is a VERY special place.

For me the great food and staff are part of why we stay. Feeling rejuvenated.

We’ve stayed at the Loews, Westin Paloma, and Dove Mt. — all nice hotels — but for convenience, service and true old school charm, the AZ Inn is still my favorite. Beautiful grounds, great service, convenient to all the great restaurants downtown and in the foothills, to UofA campus…. Great “throwback” hotel.

The alarm clock was set for 6am. When we turned it off we could hear the alarm clocks from other empty rooms go off at 6am. That didn’t sit well with my 1 and 3 year old. Yes it is historic, we’ll-maintained and clean but I think we’ll find a better fit next time.

The property is gorgeous and meticulously maintained. My daughter and I enjoyed walking the grounds at night. Our room had an odd musty smell (it had rained heavily), but there was not a speck of dust in sight! Checkin was odd and the lobby did not give the best first impression as it was dark and danky. Nonetheless, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again in the future!

This is a beautiful, wonderfully designed property. Feels incredibly private and historic in all the right ways. Staff are super nice and exceeded my expectations over and over again.

We absolutely loved our stay at this simple but elegant hotel with its lovely grounds, inviting pool, and well-trained staff. We loved having a private patio and watching the birds and bunnies as they roamed the grounds. The bar was serving dinner and the food and cocktails were excellent. We are considering coming back to Tucson just to stay at this hotel. Strongly recommend.

I was so happy with Arizona Inn. It's a beautiful property, the staff was so kind. This is definitely where I will stay next time I am in Tucson. Loved it!

While the public grounds are fairly nice, the rooms, at least the one we stayed in, which was a paid upgraded room (Patio King) was kind of dingy and old feeling. Definitely not the worth the price paid. Our initial reaction was the grounds had a feel like the La Quinta resort in La Quinta, CA, but the room felt more like average hotel at best. Wish we had only paid an average price for it.

Arizona Inn is a class act, relaxed, clean, with personality that makes your stay enjoyable

A touch oh heaven in my favorite Tucson neighborhood.

The Inn in located in a quiet residential area. Our room was very spacious and clean. We were welcomed by lots of cute cotton-tailed rabbits, quail and curious lizards throughout the grounds. The pool was very nice and the exercise room was very clean. Enjoyed reading the history of the inn. Will return...

The property is an icon and an oasis in the heart of Tucson. This gem has been serving generations of knowledgeable travelers by keeping its essential qualities intact while updating to serve modern needs.

Loved it!!!!! Peaceful, charming, big rooms, excellent service. Wow!!!!!

Beautiful old and historic hotel in a residential neighborhood. I can’t say the service matched the beauty of the place, but I must take into consideration that they were just re-opening after the pandemic. The employees were not particularly helpful or knowledgeable. Still, I give this place an enthusiastic thumbs up!

This is a beautiful historic property. We stayed in a patio room which was very comfortable, private and clean. This is our second visit and we will be back

I liked the historical aspect and the nice library. The property was run down and not what I expected as I thought of the Arizona Inn as a luxury property. The room was disappointing, the bed had only 2 pillows and was way too soft, the phones did not work, the cold water did not work. Just very disappointed with this booking.
- 4/5
Unique property built in1930. Many celebrities stayed there in the day. Very nostalgic, the casita with patio was very comfortable. The only complaint was the pillows need to be bolstered up or more than one pillow.
- 1/5
The place was great. But I left some expensive earbuds in my room when I departed, and somehow they disappeared. I know exactly where I left them and I called shortly after leaving about it. I was told, however, that they were not there. The only explanation is that someone on the staff pocketed them. I'm very, very disappointed. Arizona Inn is an iconic place that I've enjoyed staying at over the years. I'll think hard about staying there again. -- S. James Anaya, Dean, University of Colorado Law School.

Arizona Inn is a quaint, beautiful, perfectly located hotel. The gardens are amazing! Crocquet, Badminton, the beautiful pool... bike riding.. wish I had another night here!
- 5/5
The property is beautiful. Gardens well maintained. The place is unique.
- 4/5
Great property with a lot of history. Staff is a little awkward, but well meaning. There is a wonderful old school energy at the hotel which is very unique. They do need to fix the gate entry system as not all gates work and elicits a feeling of being locked up, and impedes arrival/departure. Also, with Covid now under control, they need to catch up with every other premium property and get with some live food, and quit with all the over the top sanitizing.
- 5/5
The Arizona Inn is such a lovely and historic property. It was so relaxing to be at the property and our room was absolutely lovely. The whole team was very accommodating and made sure we felt very comfortable during our stay. They had some of the best social distancing guidelines in place and we felt extremely safe in their care!

Will wish to ask about water and coffee at check in if want the convenience. Can have food orders delivered to outer eating tables just look for table # on placard and call as if for room service but give letter and # combo for where to bring. Very limited menu but fine in a pinch and timely delivery. Got me over my cabin fever and having the pool area pretty much to ourselves felt like a luxury. As things go not the same as usual but no hassles and smooth going which kept it relaxing and that was really needed.

great hotel - if you visit Tuscon area stay here...

If you want to escape from a world competing for your attention on a dozen little screens, this is your place. Show up, shut down your phone, and have a cocktail in their beautiful library. If you really want to be cool, read an actual book while you’re at it. Highly Recommend.

We stayed during the pandemic so the place was basically empty. The grounds are in impeccable conditions and our room was really nice. Lovely private patio, too.

Classic hotel from a bygone era near UofA spread over 14 acres. Each room appears different, and very nice property with lawns, tennis, and pool. F&B severely limited due to Covid, but hopefully they will open up more options soon as would be nice, and a limiting factor right now.
