Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its friendly and helpful staff, convenient location, and cleanliness. However, some guests have complained about the dated rooms, loud air conditioning units, and occasional issues with cleanliness and maintenance.

Wonderful stay. Very clean, restaurant was cute and pool was great. Absolutely loved the area. Staff was very helpful and greeted with every entry, super accommodating.

Super friendly stuff and very convenient to gammage auditorium

Location and I was having trouble with the parking QR code and they helped me. Their was a pretzel on the floor near the bed and the hot tub was not hot.and their was only decaf coffee in the room had to go get real coffee from the desk. And the shower curtain was not long enough so the water was going out of it and the soup stunk made me smell like a man good thing my man was with me other wise he would have thought I was cheating.

Dated hotel, clean but few perks or amenities. Gave impression it will just due. Everything was extra no continental offering..authentic college experience of what else do I have to spend money on.

Clean room. Great location. Lovely staff. Would stay there again, especially if visiting campus.

Great place to stay … the only thing is they are no longer offering the airport shuttle, is only for crew members not for all guests.
- 5/5
The staff was really friendly and didn't charge me for parking or the pet fee.
- 3/5
Wifi sucked. Noise across street due to construction at 6 am was annoying. Hotel looked shabby.
- 0.5/5
Across street from ASU Smokers, unkept pool area, room balcony dusty and dirty, garden area had dog shit piles. Room smelled of weed, vomit and an industrial cleaner also the carpet at the foot of the beds was squishy wet.
- 5/5
The beds and pillows were Top Notch which is huge for us while traveling. The vibe was great. The girls in the restaurant were super attentive and sweet. The $6 happy hour tacos are phenomenal and my latte in the morning was delish! We thought there was an airport shuttle so that was the only downside but we would definitely stay again. Shout out to Jordan who checked us in - she was super informative.

If I had to guess it was an old rundown motel that they tried to skin as a "graduate style" hotel—but the result was just a tired, old, fairly ugly hotel in a relatively undesirable spot in Tempe. Not saying there isn't a place for this type of hotel, but it certainly does not live up to the line of Graduate hotels I've experienced, including the neighboring one in Tucson, which is genuinely twice as nice

Needs a do not disturb tag for door.
- 3/5
Showers and bathrooms need an upgrade. Pillows are terrible. Anyway to have low pillows instead of giant foam pillows? You wake up with a pain in your neck.
- 5/5
Across from ASU Gammage theater, which was so convenient for seeing a show and then getting up early to get to the airport. Front desk staff were the fastest ever at checking me in. Parking was additional, and I wish I could have just added it to my bill. Room was clean and I appreciated the neighborhood view vs the busy road.
- 5/5
Tyler was AWESOME! Made us feel right at home. All staff at the Graduate were stellar Would stay here again and would also recommend.
- 5/5
Wonderful, great people 👍
- 4/5
Rom and decor are so cute. Restaurant and pool are nice. Rooftop bar is not open, but is still a nice place to visit on your own. great place to watch the sunset.

This was such a fun hotel for a weekend to visit our daughter in college! The rooms were comfortable and well stocked. No complaints at all and we will definitely be staying here in the future!

Beautiful property and great staff!
- 4/5
Our room was a bit tight for a family of four, and the AC unit was very loud, which made sleeping a little challenging. On the plus side, the pool was great and definitely a highlight, especially with how hot it gets in Phoenix. All in all, a solid stay with a few drawbacks, but the friendly service and pool made a difference.
- 4/5
I like they are saving saving resources by not having microwave and coffee appliances in the room, but they didn't reduce the price - LOL. We didn't realize a microwave is one the floor by the ice. Make a note of it. The beds we had were queen size and SUPER COMFORTABLE. 💯 Parking is extra - Bummer.

It’s a sweet hotel, and super friendly staff. The room is very clean. We had breakfast vouchers which can cover a drink and a sandwich/avocado bagel/etc. We had a great stay! Recommend 👍
- 3/5
I liked this place to "putting lipstick on a pig". It was an on Howard Johnsons and many things remain old and dated.
- 5/5
Pretty cool spot. Great location. Nice staff. Clean spacious rooms. A bit pricey but not really if you consider the quality and the market prices for much lower quality hotels, this one is a step up in price but 3 steps up in quality. Nice pool area.
- 3/5
We stayed 10 years ago and thought its quirks charming. The charming quirks are gone, it’s seen better days, and the standard breakfast, mediocre that it is, is free at most mid-priced Hilton Hotels. At the Graduate it is a $5 cup of coffee and $11 breakfast sandwich. I could at least understand the $75 charge for 4 night’s parking given they are right across from campus ( but why are hotel guests competing with resident students for parking?

This property is a little run down, and my room was missing key components like a luggage rack, tv remote etc. Then after housekeeping service they did not refill the coffee nor did they give me a new bath mat after they took all the towels. The food in the restaurant was so-so. Front desk was very nice however.

The staff was nice and courteous. The only reason I didn't give it a five stars was because of the lighting in the room. Three of the lights were not working made it hard to get ready. The beds were super comfortable. I would stay they again.
- 5/5
It was quiet and a good place to walk your dog on College St.

I did not know Graduate and I thought being by Hilton it was going to have more of a Hilton touch. I was expecting a little higher level of quality but in hinghsight it was pretty good for the price and the service. I thought there would be a microwave in the room but it was downstairs in the lobby. Also a drip coffee machine would be nice instead of instant coffee. There was an electric kettle but no tea.

Wasn't what i expected. The graduate in Tucson was so nice. I thought all graduates were the same standard. The one man black hair was very very very nice. The young lady was helpful but the older body girl with blond hair was so unpleasant. And the rooms have a kinda bad smell. And no microwave or refrigerator.
- 5/5
Even in a previous stay, during college move-in day, the staff was very empathetic for our needs during hot summer move-in days and helped in many ways
- 4/5
Staff was very personable
- 4/5
Staff was ok.
- 5/5
The staff was nice and helpful, especially Ryan. The pool area was very clean and there was a nice jacuzzi.
- 3/5
I really dislike leaving bad reviews, but I have to. This hotel felt like a glorified Motel 6. The room smelled musty and almost like minor water damage. Pictures are not very accurate. The "view" room we had on the 4th floor overlooked some backyards. There are 2 light fixtures on the mirror that are for show only. Had to pay an additional $15 just to park in the parking lot. And wifi was terrible. Will not waste my money here again.
- 5/5
Staff was so helpful with such a last minute hectic stay.
- 5/5
Overall, it was a good experience. I was in my room for a brief amount of time in my 48hr stay.
- 5/5
Hotel was cute and pretty clean. Great location. Ryan at the front desk was so helpful and accommodating!
- 2/5
Old, rundown and at the wrong end of Mill.

This is at most a 1-star or 2-star hotel, definitely not a 4-star.
- 5/5
Great value and location, and best of all.. great staff!
- 3/5
Great staff but the property itself is worn and tired. This Graduate property needs some fresh new paint, up keep and some minor repairs. I have been to other Graduate properties that are in really nice condition. This one is not but the staff was super friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
Great hotel to stay near ASU campus. Staff were very helpful and accommodating.
- 5/5
Staff super firendly, room very clean. Only issue was with the shower, it was impossible to adjust. It was very very hot or cold. Otherwise, our stay was very pleasant.

Room was nice and cool when returning late in evening. AC is right next to bed and blowing on person sleeping on that side and making things uncomfortable cold and noisy. AC controller at wall did not have instruction on how to adjust fan speed. Door to controls on unit itself did not open. The unit was kicking on/off every minute with frequent changes in fan speed. This meant, once you were used to noise level, it changed and the our nervous system had to adjust to a different condition. Very aggravating. After about 2 hours of trying to deal with it, I shut the entire unit off only to wake up very hot due to Arizona heat. I had to turn the unit on again and proceeded to build a wall between myself and that AC unit. Fitful sleep and aggravation and some anxiety-induced chest pain made for a bad night. I took pictures in the morning. My total sleep duration I estimate at 3 hrs. No fun. Positive: I talked to the desk person in the morning and informed him of the issue. He promised to take care it and talked to his manager. He called me at 13:33h today to inform me that his manager agreed to reverse the room charges.

Great!
- 5/5
Very convenient location when I visit my ASU student. Close to school and restaurants.

Been staying here multiple times when visiting Tempe. Great place.
- 5/5
Super cute and fun decor! Tyler at front desk was very friendly and put up with some silly antics from my sister and I during our stay. A great place if you are seeing a show at Gammage. Very close to many great restaurants. Good drinks at the on-ste bar. Would stay again for sure!
- 5/5
My husband and I stayed in this hotel last night as we are passing through town. The staff was friendly. The room looks great and the bed was comfortable. The towels were very fluffy. My only concern is that the bathroom door doesn’t close all the way. Other than that, everything else is great.
- 5/5
My sister, my mom and I stayed here for her wedding dress shopping weekend and what started out as a bumpy checkin experience ended in a wonderful stay. The lobby and first floor was cute and fun! Decompressing with two of her bridesmaids after a day of shopping we were welcomed at the restaurant with warmth. The hotel room was clean and stocked with extra towels as well. But the best part of the stay was the management team checking on us after feedback was given from our check in. Esther was apologetic and so very kind. I will definitely recommend The Graduate Tempe to friends and if I'm staying in the area again, this will be my hotel of choice. Thank you!
- 5/5
Nice place to stay.
- 3/5
This is not four stars by any stretch of the imagination. The rooms are tiny. The restaurant/bar has odd hours, and there is nothing within walking distance in 100+ degree weather.
- 5/5
Cheap but clean
- 4/5
They had extension cords holding the power together. I had to put my phone away from reach on the desk instead of the table in front of me.
- 4/5
You have to pay $15 per day for parking,
- 3/5
It was rather blah, and the Graduate hotels in other places have more personality, so i was expecting more. I'd been better off at the Roxy or even a Spinghill Suites... rooms were not available until 4pm, coffee was poor, both in the room and at the espresso bar... the building seemed tired and worn out... not great at all.
- 5/5
The staff is fantastic. They were super welcoming hence the 5 stars. The facility is showing some age but very clean and it is a super location.
- 1/5
What it seems like they did here is get an antiquated hilton hotel and add a few new pieces of furniture and color to the walls. They didn't have any water available for purchase in the property for 2 days, and didn't seem to care when we asked - just said they must be out of water, a very poor breakfast selection to order from their cafe, with half of the items being out of stock, and the rooms and facilities feel old, and not welcoming at all.
- 1/5
Bathroom filthy. Noisy and uncomfortable beds. Paid for breakfast only to find it was pastries and coffee. They refused to refund the money I paid for breakfast even though we did not eat there.
- 5/5
I had a wonderful stay. The room was spotless and very comfortable. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and always willing to help. The hotel is in a fantastic location, close to everything I needed. Plus, the coffee from the bar in the morning was a perfect way to start the day!
- 5/5
Went for a play at ASU Gammage. Was so convenient being able to just walk there and staff is the nicest we've come across in a long time anywhere. Our fur babies were welcomed with treats and theres a nice little grassy area to walk them.
- 5/5
Excellent stay as always. So handy seeing a show and just walking across from Gammage to our room. Super clean and very comfy beds. We will be back!
- 3/5
I realize they have to have periods of maintenance but the kitchen was down so no breakfast, the gym was closed for repairs and no hot water after 11am as the boiler was being fixed. Decor was tired. Whole place felt old and in need of an upgrade.

Was ok. Rooms have themes, makes it feel old.
- 5/5
Fast and easy check in
- 3/5
While the staff and service were all friendly and great, the property leaves much to be desired. It seems that the former building was dressed up, with some nice furnishings and the like but still retains some features and a lack of detail that doesn't match what I've come to expect from Graduate hotels. The walls and elevator seem beaten up and painted over, but not enough to cancel their age or wear. They kept the former light as air dooes that feel flimsy when you open and close them. The seams on the wallpaper in the restroom are evident and visible and in some cases even cracked. The AC unit in the room worked but could never seem to get the room to an ideal cool temperature. The on site bar area service was good but again appeared worn down. If you're looking to for a more boutique like hotel experience near ASU I'd look elsewhere until more improvements are made.
- 4/5
I had a very good stay except for some shower cleanliness issues.
- 5/5
Rooms were clean and up to spec with no complaints. Workout room having a peloton was a major bonus! The bar was cool, though I wished it stayed open one more hour in the evening. Walking distance to CVS and mill ave as well as other restaurants in the area.
- 2/5
1. Parking is not included and is expensive. 2. Parking is not convenient to the main entrance. 3. The restaurant/bar has awful operation hours. 4. “No more hot breakfast for 3-4 months” is what we were told??? It’s graduation weekend. 5. Bar to pool gates are always locked… um, why would a place trying to make money not encourage you to be able to eat and drink out by the pool? 6. Hallways are not air conditioned, which is so weird. 7. Pool is FREEZING cold. How do they even do that in Tempe? 8. Shower head is on opposite side of shower from the shower controls- seriously! 9. Balcony/patio only have 1 chair- LOL!! 10. Bar staff needs serious customer service training.
- 3/5
Good location and a good vibe, but the property is old and tired and we were disappointed there wasn’t any flexibility around waiving the early checkin fee despite the fact the hotel was far from fully occupied, we were only a couple hours early, and our room was ready.
- 5/5
Nice hotel with a parking lot close to the airport.
- 5/5
Loved loved loved my stay!!! Will forever book here when I come back to Arizona

Stayed for a night to visit Tempe/ASU and it was perfect. The service at the bar late at night was amazing when I needed food and drinks. Would stay again for sure.
- 3/5
There was no more conditioner when I took a shower. They ran out of toothpaste. They didn't clean the room while we were out. The food was good, though, and the staff was super friendly.

Wonderful hotel, close to campus.
- 5/5
Location was easy to find
- 5/5
Loved the outdoor pool and the college themed decor. The room was clean and amenities nice.
- 5/5

- 2/5
Staff was ok. Seemed disinterested
- 5/5
Awesome .. close to the asu properties
- 2/5
This is a facility used by ASU as student housing, there are multiple signs and murals that say "Remember, we are all students" Hallways have a fresh coat of hot pink paint, love the smell. The room had a strong mildew smell in the bathroom. The room was vintage 1970. $15 per night was not disclosed until we arrived.
- 4/5
great location! nice room.
- 5/5
Overall great stay….comfy and clean! Definitely will stay if I come back to Tempe AZ
- 5/5
Nice stay, affordable and clean.
- 5/5
Had all I needed. Staff was awesome
- 3/5
Also very sad that they don't have complimentary coffee for guests.
- 2/5
1 microwave per floor at the end of the hall, no shelves or counter space in the bath/shower/bathroom. Must pay for parking. Ónly restaurant offerings for breakfast.
- 5/5
Great vibes and service. Great location.
- 5/5
All was excellent but they should change covers on dirty stained outside pillows
- 2/5
Not so good. First noticed no hand soap in bathroom, no wifi, having to pay for parking. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles were old and dirty. Noticed wall by bed had boogers on wall. The fruit we purchased for $7 was outdated. The water pressure reminded me of a barrel you fill with water, poke holes through, and hang above your head. The water temperature was horrible, temperature wouldn’t change for minutes at a time, then suddenly become extremely hot, and an obnoxious loud vibration from water pipes that felt like a plane was flying too close to the building, sounded like it as well. I have stayed at Hiltons which when I seen the Hilton name I thought, “this should be good”, I’d compare this Hilton to a Motel 6 or Budget Inn, $50 a night. After this stay my wife and I are seriously considering not being able to trust the “Hilton” brand hotels any longer. I can say that the bed was comfy and the hotel staff were excellent. I feel you pay more for the location than you do for quality.
- 4/5
This is a very unique hotel in a great location so we love it for that. Unfortunately we had a maintenance issue that effected our room and the rooms around us. We notified staff and were told maintenance would come fix it, but they did not.
- 5/5
Beds are comfortable and love having a private balcony looking at orange trees
- 2/5
I have stayed at other graduates before and this one does not compare. Lower budget/quality. A bum in the rest room in lobby upon arrival. Lamps missing bulbs.
- 3/5
My sink was clogged and the wifi did not work properly.
- 3/5
I was disappointed in the appearance of the hotel. The interior was dated and overall a cheap looking. The reception desk was quiet and staff was friendly.
- 3/5
The stay was a good one overall. The problem we experienced was to do with the plumbing (I believe). When hot water was turned on in the shower, a VERY LOUD, knocking/large farm equipment turning on in our room. We experienced this noise twice. Once when we used the shower in the afternoon. Then again at 6:00am when someone else must have turned on the water in a room above us and the noise was so loud and woke the whole family. Thank goodness we had experienced it already so we remembered the sound (eventually, after the shock of being woken in such a loud/scary manner) and knew what it was. I hope this feedback is helpful and you are able to resolve the problem for continued success of your hotel!
- 5/5
It's a great place to stay and catch a show at ASU Gamage.
- 3/5
Room was clean but nothing that stood out. Out dated look and furniture layout. Bathroom needed the most updating with it feeling the least clean. What was the most disappointing part of the stay was that after paying a good amount for the room they charge an additional $15 to park in the parking every 24 hours. At least let me park for free if I’m going to be charged hundreds of dollars per night to stay there. However was conveniently located very close the ASU Gammage.
- 5/5
By ASU Gammage for shows
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The pool and pool area were quiet, clean, and relaxing. The location is right across the street from Gammage, so we were able to walk over to our show.
- 5/5
Great place, excellent location! Staff was incredibly nice
- 3/5
While many of the male front desk staff were incredibly friendly and the staff did an amazing job of receiving a package for me in advance of our stay, the younger female at the front desk was cold and not helpful. WiFi was spotty. Worked sometimes, not others. Had to use the hot spot on my phone to get work done. Train going by outside created noise, but nothing they could have done about that. All-in-all it's not like I wouldn't stay with them again, I just feel like they could have tried harder and not nickel and dimed us to death when they are an old hotel that has had some trendy mid century artwork installed and a coat of pink paint.
- 3/5
My room didn't get a refill of the coffee packets when cleaned. I called the front desk the night before and they told me they would let housekeeping know first thing in the morning. Nothing showed up so I called again in the morning. Never did get my coffee. No food or drink in the restaurant between 11-4 and not much around to make up for it. I stayed at the Graduate in Nashville and it was great, so was a bit disappointed with this one.
- 3/5
They have a sewer line that runs along the restaurant in this hotel that according to the staff backs up all the time and smells like a dirty toilet. They just said it happens all the time and hopefully it'll be better later.
- 5/5
Hotel staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Hotel was on the older side but loved the balcony seating. The decor was quite eclectic. Would stay there again.
- 3/5
Could use some freshening up. Bed was comfortable and bedding was clean and crisp.
- 4/5
Warning this property makes a charge for parking which is NOT mentioned on Expedia!
- 5/5
Well located, walking to downtown. Easy parking. Great bathroom. Enjoyed the hot tub.
- 4/5
Cool property conveniently located near the college which was perfect for our stay.
- 5/5
It was so cute when we went to our room. The hallway is so colorful so we thought it was so cute to take pics. Staff were helpful and made everything super easy. I would book here again.
- 1/5
Out dated and dilapidated. Looks like collage kids do the repairs. For a Hilton i an in shock
- 3/5
Benefit of the doubt because I've stayed a dozen times prior without issue. This time I was put in a room the smelled like a smoking room although they are a nonsmoking property. I asked for air freshener, which they provided, but no apology or offer to switch my room or comp a breakfast or something. I stuck it out since it was a short stay. Then I received a parking citation because the person who checked me in was supposed to ask for my vehicle plate info but didn't. The fee was waived but again no apology. The gal actually acted like it was my fault for not supplying the plate info but how would I know that I'm supposed to without a prompt at check in?! I'll stay again because it's near my family & walkable to where I like to go but they'll likely only get one more chance.
- 4/5
Easy to get in and out of, had everything we needed. Would have like a microwave in the rooms, but would stay again for sure.
- 4/5
We chose Graduate because of its proximity to our venue. The bathroom was a bit small, and not fully stocked for our stay, but other than that we were pleasantly surprised. The room was cute and comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and did their best to be helpful.
- 2/5
Front desk people very courteous. Unfortunately, our room faced the street which was very loud hearing cars, trolly until late. Then every time the room above used a shower our room sounded like a jack hammer. Early in the morning waking us up and late in the evening. To our knowledge, no one ever came to check on it.
- 5/5
Enjoyed our stay, the bed was wonderful!
- 5/5
Awesome pool and hot tub.
- 5/5
Fun 1950s decor with the graduate as the theme. Fun colors, Interesting artwork, Nice pool and hot tub.

Really enjoyed the decor and location

I never write reviews but this was not acceptable for the price I paid. The only lights that worked in my room were the entry and bathroom. The lamp didn’t reach an outlet and the desk lamp light bulb was burnt out. The shower made an extremely loud noise in the wall and had very low water pressure. I wasn’t told I needed to pay for daily parking when I checked in and got a parking ticket.

Hotel is okay. Great location by campus. Older hotel that has been updated but needs a new update. Not a lot of food or car options nearby. Restaurant inside has limited options.

Carpet in room was old gross and wrinkled. My shower failed this morning as I was running out the door. No cold water so it was basically no pressure of scalding hot water. Could not shower before my business meeting today will not be back to this property.

I thought the Graduate properties has similar standards. Well, this was proof that I was terribly wrong.

I ate dinner in the onsite restaurant on Friday evening. The food was delicious but it was pretty pricey for a side salad and 2 taquitos ($25.00) There was only one person working both the bar and table tops so the poor girl was running like crazy. The live singer was nice to sit and listen to while eating dinner.

Great location. We love staying there. Wonderful customer service. They go above and beyond. Carpet in room was old and wearing out so they need to probably replace. Comfortable beds and daily room cleaning was nice.
