AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS. This hotel was infested with bugs. We had to change rooms 3 times. One room had really bad water damage, the floor boards were sticking out. The room we settled for (because the booking was non-refundable) had dead bugs everywhere and it was not clean at all. Because of all this we decided to leave all our belongings in our car. Worse hotel ever.

Here is what I have a problem with: upon checking in on May 24, 2026, the first night, I was scammed by the night clerk, Sharon C. Never have I ever been asked to pay for a hotel to an employee's personal Chime account. Since I was exhausted and my best friend was paying for the room, he did it for me as a favor. Since my travel plans were postponed till today, May 25, I paid for another night through Expedia. At this motel, they do not let you wait in the lobby after check-out for an Uber, Lyft, or any other type of transportation. I am not sure what goes on at this motel, but that is not cool when it's almost 100 degrees outside and humid.

Filthy, unvacummed carpet. Walked in room, checked sheets and saw some black speck and other filth. Sliding door was wide open and ciggerette buts on crappy balconey the faced some thirdworld hellscape, a fence or concrete wall about a foot away. Pictures very misleading. Instead of the dated, not great budget hotel I was expecting, it was cleary something much worse. Walk to bush gardens (at your own peril)! I walked right back to my car, found a reputable hotel, and checked my clothes and bag for bedbugs. Stay away! Spend the extra $40 for a hotel with clean sheets and a vacuum cleaner, unless you've budgeted the extra money for crack and a prostitute. Glad there was a cop car accross the street at the hot dog stand keeping an eye on things or I might not have made it out alive. Back the blue!!

1. The minute we got in both of the double beds had black stains on them. Large and very much visible. There's literally no way anyone decent tending a room would have seen that and thought it was ok. I had to call to get the sheets and bedding entirely replace to which the male receptionist did and brought new clean ones to the room. 2. The room itself. Old. Needs a full refurbish. It's extremely dated and there were termites in the bathroom eating away at the caulk in the bathroom by the tiles. Also- "no smoking 🚭", but the AC remote had a lighter burn. As well as parts of the old stained furniture. The bathrooms lock doesn't work. And the door at the bottom is falling apart to where you have to push the door and can see the fake wood varnish stick and jam the door. Also the bedrooms decorative baseboards/trim were peeling off. The carpet flooring in the room is very obviously not vacuumed often. Biohazard at the least. 3. The parking lot. Shady as hell. Too dark. Park anywhere near the back and 100% that car will be broken into. It's just too shady and the outside is littered with garbage. All in all. Save yourself the regret. Book anywhere else.

The room was absolutely not clean. There were roaches, the fridge door was disgusting and the walls were stained and dusty. We had a back door to the balcony that wouldn’t even shut all the way which made us feel unsafe.

The staff was great but the quality was terrible. The pictures on the website and expedia were extremely inaccurate. There were roaches in the room, sheets were dirty and stained. There wasnt even a main light in my room. When we arrived we assumed it was abandoned from the looks of it. There was trash everywhere and the door to get in and out had a lock problem. tv did not work and no phone to call the desk, neither a smoke detector. Barely any furniture besides the bed. the whole building smelt like weed despite booking in the nonsmoking area. For the amount i paid, i we assumed we would get a way better room. The inaccurate pictures need to be fixed....

This place was an absolute dump. It was dirty and smelled like pee, cigarettes, weed, and cat litter. The overall vibe was “tropical crack den” and I will never try to save money by booking at an Econo Lodge again. Besides the people paying with change at the front counter and the man rolling a joint in the lobby, the towels weren’t clean and the outlets were covered in some sort of brown spatter. The slimy handprints on the headboard were the icing on a very rancid cake. Avoid.

We rented a room and the smell wasn't great. The bed sheets had stains and there were hairs in between the sheets. We asked to switch rooms, the next room smell was worse sheets were cleaner but still some hair around the bed. I would not ever come back.

THE MICROWAVE HAD RUST ALL OVER THE INSIDE. THE AC WAS LEAKING, PAINT WAS STRIPPED OFF THE WALLS, SHOWER HEAD WAS RUSTED AND LOOKS LIKE IT'S FROM THE 80'S AND THE SHOWER DID NOT TURN ON. TOWELS APPEARED TO NOT HAVE BEEN WASHED AND INSTEAD FOLDED AND PLACED BACK ON THE RACK STILL DIRTY FROM THE LAST USE. WHEN I BROUGHT THIS UP TO THE FRONT DESK, ALL SHE SAID WAS "WELL THE SHOWER WORKS, YOU JUST HAVE TO PULL IT REALLY HARD." I REALLY WISH I WAS EXAGERATING WHEN I SAY THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE DEMOLISHED AND REBUILT!

The room was mostly clean, however the comforters on both beds had cigarette holes in them.. in the non smoking room. We also did have a roach in our room but it was only one. This was a clubbing night so we didn't stay here long. The shower did get very hot and was nice though.

Sheets seems like they had not been changed. Pillows were stained. I found somebody’s socks on the floor. I would not advise staying here unless there is literally nowhere else.

Bathroom had no lights, big dirty stain on the sink, hole in the bedsheet, dirty floors and walls. We requested another room, and the only improvement was that there was lights in the bathroom. I highly do not recommend, the staff at the front desk was nice and accommodating with reassigning us to another room but unfortunately the hotel itself is totally neglected.

The outside looks really run down, but it is part of Choice Hotel Group? Check in was fast and easy. The room was huge, and the bed was comfortable; however, the bedspread (?) was so thin, it didn't feel like you had anything over the sheet; the cover felt like it was just a wee bit thicker than a tablecloth. The microwave and fridge were clean and worked fine. I did not see coffee maker. As for the bathroom, it was clean. The toilet and shower/tub was separate from the sink, which worked for us. There were three small bars of soap, two were on top of the plastic it came in, not sure if they had been used or not, and only one was still inside the plastic unopened. There were dispensers by the sink/counter area and in the shower, but there wasn't anything in them. The shampoo provided in a little container was great though, it didn't dry my hair. I did not see a hair dryer. The bathroom counter needs replacing or deep cleaning, a lot of stains, and the empty dispensers didn't look like it was wiped clean. On the light switches, you can see the original white paint all around the switch plate, the toilet paper holder, was partially painted over by wall plate. The A/C was loud but it did work. We only needed a night's rest and the bed itself was comfortable, just wished the bedcover on top of the sheet was a little thicker, a regular blanket would have worked. The headboard had stickers on them, like the the type kids would put stick on the walls, tables, etc.

The smell was atrocious all around the place. They left used soaps and shampoo and didn't eben bother to provide unused ones. The bedding was horrendous. It was loud all through the night with the staff making no effort to control the noise. Cops showed up one of my nights. But honestly, the smell was so rank, it may have been the most insulting part of my whole stay.

Hotel staff was rude and not helpful. There was roaches everywhere alive and dead. The pool was green. Water puddle in the floor from the AC , no one came to look at or clean it up. We went the whole trip without it. Not enough towels, wash clothes.

The room was at the farthest end of the hotel and there was maybe ten cars there so intentionally making it inconvenient. The room door was broken and the room was filthy!!!!!! Our first room was disgusting and the balcony door didn’t close all the way or lock. We requested a new room, which was somehow even more disgusting. We decided at this point to leave for obvious reasons. The man at the front desk said he couldn’t give us a refund because we had “been there more than an hour,” and when we tried to show him the pictures of our room he said something along the lines of “I know, my cleaning staff doesn’t do anything, this is how it is,” which is just…baffling. Anyway, he said to contact the manager (whose email is a bunch of random letters). We will be attempting to contact him as well as disputing the charge. Absolutely disgusting, the worst hotel I have ever been to. I have no idea how they are still open they need to be shut down.

The property was definitely in a perfect location right across from Busch Gardens, and adventure Island, but you could tell it was very outdated and not taken care of very well. just very bottom of the barrel for a quick stay

Room water faucets/shower all calcified and rusted. Roaches. Can’t adjust my AC unit so I’m unable to sleep because it’s hot. Can hear right through the wall and the hostess was kind enough to put the guy sleeping with a prostitute RIGHT next to my room. The entire place is a waking nightmare. I repeat: DO NOT STAY HERE. You can get astronomically better for the same or less price elsewhere.

Room service never came to us and they didn’t even have breakfast. They never cleaned our room and then when we asked for extra towel towels, we were told to pick them up from the lobby. Also, Even with the room key, we had to forcibly open the door as hard as we could because it refused to let us in our hotel.

The pictures were very misleading. We felt very unsafe being there and had to find a different place. Security cameras were unplugged and there was someone sleeping outside in a luggage cart. I also couldn’t get a refund

Bath tub/shower is in bad need of repair. You almost have to hug the wall to get under the water. The facet has a ton of caulk that is dirty. We had a very uneasy feeling about staying there and won't again and probably won't stay at another econo lodge.

It was just a mess I was truly shocked and disappointed I was expecting better for the amount that I paid it definitely should’ve been better.

Very slow to check in. Room wasn’t very clean. No heat in the room. Shower faucet not easy to figure out and would just turn and turn and turn to find correct temp. Gunshots, doors slamming shut (because they won’t line up to lock) made it impossible to rest

Food left all over floor. Went to front desk and asked for room to be cleaning since we had little children and they “cleaned” but left the food (peanut/sunflower seeds) on floor. We could never get the air to work. Would not recommend especially if you have kids. We moved rooms and all though it was better there were burns all in the covers and nightstand.

My family and I stayed here basically as a last resort. Floors were caving in. The room was not clean at all. It says no pets but there was cat food on the floor and it is smelled like cigarettes in the whole building.

Our room. Sliding door to balcony had not lock and when I went to front counter I was told well I only work here. “Your room is safe you are on the second floor. Your stuff will be safe”. Light bulb broken in light and still attached. The room looks nothing like the photos. Walls haven’t been painted in years. A yellowish tint was the color. Shower tub. Disgusting. Dingy and if it was clean the tub still looked dirty. Roaches in the bathroom. 2 photos to follow. I slept on top of the bed with a blanket I had in my vehicle and used an additional blanket to cover. It was absolute the worst place I ever stayed at. I asked for a refund or new room and of course he saidI only work here and I can’t give you your money back and as far as a different room, they were booked solid. 100% occupancy. If you have a wife and children. DO NOT subject them to this. I would have taken more photos and called the credit card company for a charge back but it was dark and I left at 6:00 am.

Black mold in bathtub, no thermostat in room for temperature control. Two electrical sockets exposed, one had clear tape over it. No shampoo in bathroom, no hair dryer. Carpets in both Lobby and hallways Phil they. Board of health violations everywhere. Other than that a wonderfull place to stay

There was mold in the bathrooms, rust on air vents, broken mirrors, broken lamps, worn out rugs, outdated furniture, damaged walls, and ceilings among other things. No working phone, broken. Pictures in the website are very deceiving. Nothing like the hotel really. I have been with Hotels.com for many years and never stayed in a hotel this bad. I will never stayed at Econo Lodge anywhere. It is a shame that Hotels.com is even allowing this hotel to be posted in their website as an option.

The pictures on the site did not match up to what I drove up too. As a single mother I drove into the complex and felt completely unsafe! There were people selling things in the parking lot, it looked run down and just a complete no! I did not check in because I did not feel safe just my being in the parking lot!

The staff was very nice, special props for the receptionist who helped me. Comfortable beds, and has an enjoyable balcony. Air conditioner works slow but is effective over time; I actually had to turn it off because it was cooling so well, but then again, this is in January in Tampa. I'm not sure how it would hold up in the summer. Also, if you have a cockroach phobia then this is not the place for you, because I saw more than a few little ones once I shut off the lights. Roaches are nothing to me, so I actually enjoyed it, but In all honesty they could really use an exterminator. But you get what you pay for; my only goal was to get a good night's sleep and go to Busch gardens, which is about only a quarter mile away. Location was perfect if these are your purposes. If your going for cleanliness I would recommend oasis hotel

I stayed here on New Years Eve and reserved a non-smoking room. There were cigarette holes in the blankets and the mattress. Half the outlets in the room did not work for phone chargers. The remote for the TV did not work. Worst yet the bed had a giant wear hole in it which made it feel like you were sleeping in a pit. My girlfriend and I kept on rolling towards the middle and the whole experience was super uncomfortable. When I checked in, I had to stand at the counter for over 10 minutes till someone shows up to help check in. The place looked closed down.

I rarely comment and even rarer leave a negative comment. I had chosen this hotel as it was close to Bush Gardens knowing it was a simple hotel but hoping it was clean. But what I found was rundown dirty hotel and an unacceptable room. The door had marks from breaking in, paint was pealing from walls, particularly in the bathroom, the carpet had a musty smell, there was white power under the AC, the windows had probably not been cleaned since months, the dresser was in a state of disrepair with falling front plates, microwave and fridge were dented and probably not been cleaned in a long time, the curtain had stains etc. The only good thing I could say about this place was that the front desk clerk was friendly. The staff was very friendly and the room was as clean as they could get something that run down. The room was dark with dark bedspreads and minimal lighting. The lampshade was literally hanging on by a thread. The shower was water scale marked and rust stained but appeared to be clean beyond that. The bed should have been thrown away years ago. One was so dented where people would sit that you'd almost roll out of bed on that side. The other bed squeaked so badly that it sounded like the rigging of a dilapidated shrimp boat. Neither was comfortable in any way at all. On the plus side, the front desk clerk was very helpful and friendly. I'd avoid this hotel until they do some serious updating - even if it's just replacing the beds. Also - a reminder to the hotel - it's obviously time to call the exterminator - when I turned the lights on at 2 in the morning, bugs went scampering in all directions. Gross.

This a run down hotel. I should have know better not to make reservations there . The room looked like a crack motel in movies . It was nightmare. Disgusting, unsanitary. Thank goodness we were able to run out of there with a refund .

Old. Tubs don’t drain. Not very clean. They know they don’t have to try very hard due to their distance from many attractions, people will pay.

I can believe this place is even open! No one should be staying here. Heath code nightmare. Drove up and lost my mind! Dirty, rundown, dark. Picture your worst nightmare and there this place would be!

Bad neighorhood

The attention was very bad, the service to the rooms was terrible, I found cockroaches, they don't respect the drinks you bring, the bathroom had a lot of mold. I don't recommend it at all and I don't plan to go back to my family either.

buildng and some living in the hotel. We were in the lobby for 15 minutes before anyone came out. First clue upon arrival, no cars in the lot just people there with all their belongings. The worse place i have ever seen.

The door would not close all the way or lock. Pubic hair all through out bathroom. Dried food on night stand. Burn marks on walls.

The rooms were dirty and very raggedy , nothing at all like the advertised pictures . No remotes for the TVs , refrigerators did not work , lamps completely broken .

Most dirty hotel I've ever been to. Walked in and walked out. HUGE stain on one of the beds, hair on bathroom sink, urine in hallway, bags of trash and beer cans outside, missing lampshade, room was disgusting.

I don’t do reviews, but this needed to be said. This was the absolute worst hotel that I’ve ever been. Blood splutter was on dirty curtains. Smelled like smoke, seen nice sized roaches by the ice machine. In all honesty the place should an hourly rate hotel and shut down.

The hotel is more like a run down motel. The room had a stench of smoke and dampness. The walls and floors were filthy and the door was noticeably tampered with. The lamps were broken, drawers held up with duck tape, holes in the wall and roaches to top it all off. The pictures on this listing are not the same place. If I could give it 0 stars I would’ve.

Overall fair experience

Not good. I had a firearm with me and still didn't feel safe. Every surface of my room was either stained or had cigarette burn marks. The only person I would recommend this hotel to is my worst enemy.

Umm….best for a quick nights sleep and shower. Place is old and furnishings are too. Nice staff and coffee in the lobby were a plus. Ample and free parking available (take your possessions with you—don’t leave valuables in your car). In and out type of place if you’re traveling through. Those with sensitive sinuses might find the damp scented rooms/hallways irritating. I had to sleep with balcony door open for fresh air…and the breeze cause the A.C. was on the fritz.

Disgusting Hotel. First room I was placed in had ashes on the bed, cigarette burns in the sheets, blood on the curtains, and bugs flying around. I went to the front desk and asked for a new room. The new room looked like someone was still in there. I was scared when I opened the door and saw sheets on the floor that I was about to have an altercation because someone hadn't checked out. At 100+ a night I had expected much better, that was on me for not reading the reviews. Please do yourself a favor and do not stay here.

Terrible All around they claim the hotel was non smoking the rooms reeked of cigarettes the towels had blood stains on them the sheets were dirty there was cockroaches on the floor... The pillows had stings and Dirty odors...

Let's just say I paid for what I got. The front desk crew was the only good thing about the hotel. If I summed up my opinion of the hotel, I'd say half fast. As in, the whole hotel was half-fast renovated from the front desk room to the room to the restroom from in the rooms. Also, the added little guest wasn't fun to wake up to at night when going to the restroom. At least the staff was nice to us.

When we first walked in, there was no one in the front for about 10 minutes so it was not the greatest impression. In addition, the hotel has signs forbidding smoking but all of the rooms, hallways, and lobby all reek of smoke. The surrounding area feels very unsafe as surrounding areas are vandalized and spray painted on; moreover, the unsafeness of the building itself is borderline a health hazard. There is a single entrance and exit and the interior layout would cause issues if any emergency were to happen as some of the rooms require a single long hallway similar to the movie "The Shining". The staircase leading up to the second floor appears to have not been cleaned in months if not years and the lighting in the room was dreadful. The pictures listed on this place and the actual reality are likely two different rooms or even hotels with how different they were. The appliances provided looked to have been from the 70s and the coffee machine didn't include cups to brew the coffee. My partner and I would frequently make a dash for our rooms as we felt UNSAFE at this hotel. My advice, spend the extra 10 or 20 and go for something like a Quinta inn or something similar.

Place stank of smoke. Cigarette burns in bedding despite being a “smoke free property”. Room door and patio door didn’t lock and main door lock appeared to have been kicked off numerous times. Generally unclean and felt very unsafe.

Was not what was advertised the pictures did not match the property. There is rust in the bathroom. Can hear everything happening in the other rooms.

The room definitely was not cleaned prior to our stay, there was old food in the fridge, cobwebs in the corners, cigarette burns on the comforter, the shower was broken and the manager had to come turn it on for us. The only thing nice about the property was the manager.

The "smoke-free" room had burn holes in both bed linens and about room. Floors were filthy. Grounds covered with garbage and people blasting music etc. THEE worst room I have ever stayed. It was non-refundable and surrounding nice hotels were booked.

The AC did not work in any of the rooms, Cockroaches were present, Dirty Floors and carpets, the overall Hotel itself had a terrible odor and smell. The water pressure was very low, no breakfast, vending machines did not work?

This hotel is right across the street from Busch Gardens, super convenient! It is, however, a bit sketchy. There were burn marks in the comforters and bits of w33d in the sheets. I thought it was bugs at first but felt better realizing that someone was just smoking in the room previous to our stay. Very quiet and the air conditioner works great! I wasn’t disappointed but I wasn’t impressed either. You get what you pay for.

the hotel is very old and very run down. It also has a strong and unpleasant odor. very dirty bathroom we had to go to the nearby CVS and buy detergent for ourselves to clean the bathroom in the room. In general, everything is very dirty. that hotel needs an urgent remodeling

The bed sheets were full of cigarette burns and hair as if if was never cleaned. The towels were stained or unwashed. The refrigerator was leaking water. No staff member cared.
