Motel 6 Tacoma, WA - South

The room was great, the staff was wonderful, it was great to have a refrigerator and microwave in our room. The only issue we had, was that the swimming pool was not open due to repairs, this was one of the main reasons we booked our five day stay with them, so if you want to book here, and want to swim, call and make sure it is open.

Cons: pool was closed! old bathroom, dingy, chipped porcelain , no shampoo/conditioner, only a tiny bar of soap, no bedside lamp, no coffee maker, floor turned my socks black when walking around, microwave didn’t turn and never got a remote that worked the tv in 2 days. Place is fine if you want cheapest stay but def no extras.

It was a nice experience it was a bit noisy upstairs but overall a good place maids need to ensure they clean everything tho the toilet wasn't clean properly but I helped myself

Where do I begin? The only good thing about this motel was the staff, and in our minimal interactions with the staff we saw that multiple people staying in the motel were calling about odd smells and pipe malfunctions. When we were going to the room we were given, we noticed that there was slanting on the second story walkway which was very concerning. When we entered the room, although it was a non smoking room, it smelled like cigarettes and marijuana. The floor was slanted and dipping, which combined with the drooping walkway and cracked stairs, was a bit unsafe seeming. When we turned on the lights, we discovered odd brown stains on the ceiling. They seemed to be haphazardly cleaned, and coupled with the odd smoke and weed smell in a non smoking room, I don't believe that our room was properly cleaned. Our stay here was subpar. To start it off, when I tried to use the sink it sprouted brown water at me and flung water in the air, seemingly because of bubbles in the pipes. The walls of the shower had holes and cracks, and the shower head looked grim. The beds seemed fine, but due to the general state of our room, I doubt they were actually clean. When i exited the room i was met with a pool that seems to never have been cleaned. There was trash and algae in both the pool and the hot tub, and i doubt they have been open in a year. Upon leaving the room, my mom was asked to sell a man cigarettes multiple times, and overall this just seems like an unsafe place for anyone.

I love the room with the updated furniture and colors. The room is super clean. Staff was very nice and helpful. The east end of the parking lot could use a little attention. I was very satisfied with my stay.

The parking lot was dirty and there was garbage stacked and garbage cans everywhere and the dumpster was overflowing. It’s also a place where they rent the rooms to CD people and they can only be there for 21 days but they’re just just not a good location.

Habíamos pedido una habitación para no fumadores y cuando llegamos al cuarto olia demasiado a tabaco, deberían prohibir fumar dentro de las habitaciones, la cama ya era vieja y se sumia, el aire acondicionado no funcionaba como tal, aventaba el aire hacia la ventana, al parecer estaba roto la parte plástica. El baño estaba sucio, con marcas de orina y las toallas apestaban a cigarro. Ya me habia quedado en otros hoteles 6 y la verdad otra experiencia.

I had problems with my check in, Valery put me and my husband in the wrong room and it was smelling smoke. Thankfully the other 2 girls were super nice and understanding. They helped us to change the room and I really appreciate them.

I still never received my deposit back

Everything was fine, staffs was very friendly and the only thing that needs to be done is the shower drain it had to be work because the shower water drain was not working as it should be. The room smell, when we first got there, the room smells cigarette smell and also whenever we leave the room always smells like cigarette at least have some fragrance plug in for each rooms so the customer felt like their staying at home but over all everything was okay and fine.

I booked a two-night stay at this location, but my car was broken into on the first night. I checked out as soon as I discovered the damage. I have been trying to contact the front desk to cancel my second night, but they are impossible to reach. Interestingly, if you select the option to make a new reservation, someone answers within 30 seconds. However, as soon as they realize I am calling about an issue, they transfer me to a line that no one ever picks up. This place is extremely unsafe, and I’ve learned my lesson to never book with Motel 6 again. I did get an early sign when I had to change the room 3 times because the previous two were filled with cigarette smoke that was very troubling to my non-smoker wife and me. I wish I had known better than to stay here.

Nothing. It was disgusting. Smoke filled rooms, homeless living in the rooms, not safe at all.

Office staff was very nice and changed our room since Expedia gave me a smoking room. Otherwise it wasn’t a very good stay, beds were rock hard and super noisy, towels tiny and no toiletries in the bathroom. Parking wasn’t great either and stairs looked like they were going to fall apart.

There were police officers present to address issues when I was arriving and in the morning panhandlers were walking in front of my room on the second floor. The room smelled like vomit and cigarettes. Please don't go to this hotel!

I didn't like anything about this property! Ive stayed at this location several times over the years but this time I was suprised at how run down the property is. Upon arrival I called front desk to tell them that my TV was broken and I didn't want it to come out of my deposit. The lady assured me she would make a note so that wouldn't happen however I was still charged my deposit and I cannot seem to get ahold of anyone via phone to correct the issue. The heater/ac unit was loud and made weird noises and it smelled bad.

there was a bullet hole in our door, our door barley closed. there was space around the door frame, could hear every one outside. there were people just chilling in their cars all night. did not feel safe. at all. ended up checking out early and moving to a different hotel. it was dirty. the tv remote was literally sticky from having something spilled on it. we had friends coming to stay there too. told them to cancel their reservation. people doing drugs in the parking lot. some druggies knocked on our door repeatedly at 6 am to ask for a cig. absolutely the worst motel I have ever stayed at. There is no way this motel is rated 7.8 out of 10.

I was denied my room after I already paid for it and they couldn't explain to me why I was denied I was stuck outside in the rain all night due to me spending the last bit of money I had to book it

I went to check into my room that I already had paid for and they said they wouldn't check me in due to my visit with them but I didn't have any issues and when I checked out they gave me my deposit back so I was very confused and since I used the rest of the money I had to buy the room I couldn't go anywhere else so I was outside in the cold for the whole time

The beds were un comfortable. If you're short bring a step stool. And if you're elderly, i advise you to look elsewhere. Very hard to get into the beds. Couldn't get a handicap room, because we needed 2 beds and all the handicap rooms have 1 bed. Management was great as Expedia messed up our reservation.

We got the room bc we were going to a show at the Tacoma Dome and didnt want to drive all the way home after. We ended up coming back to the room afterwards, laying on top of the covers for a while and then deciding to drive home anyway bc none of us would have ever gone to sleep listening to whatever was going on outside and the cigarette scented bed sheets. The AC made the room frigid and dry. Switched to heat and the air felt wet and humid it was weird and uncomfortable. I've stayed in some crappy motels before but this was disappointing enough to not even stay after paying $140 to ? Basically store my backpack while i went to the concert. Blah

The place is pretty run down. The room I was in was updated, but you could tell it was a former smoking room from the smell and the numerous cigarette burns on the edge of the tub. The floors were pretty dirty as well. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Comfortable enough beds, but not much else. The rooms smelled of cigarettes, and the facility is somewhat worn out, but it is the cheapest option, and as a band on a budget, it worked fine for us.

It was inexpensive and close to my destination for a wedding, not too far from Sea-Tac either. I stayed with my siblings and the bed was comfortable. I did order a non-smoking room and ended up with a room that stunk of cigarettes with burns all over the bathtub. But otherwise it was still clean and the front desk attendants were friendly. If you want shampoo, bring your own unless you want to pay $3 for a tiny bottle haha. Vending machines sadly didn't work either when I tried. But it was worth it for the money, no big complaints here. You get what you pay for! Would stay again if I end up back in the area.

Everything in Seattle near my event was booked, and to make things worse, this room was not cheap. The mattress was horrible it had a significant dent/ sink-In hole. Woke up with back pain. The room smelled of smoke, I thought, although my husband thought it smelled like feet. I Would not stay here again. Several of the guest looked sketchy. Check out counter was still closed at 08:30am the next day when trying to check out.

Not only did our AC not work, but it smelled AWFUL. I think I am due a refund for the AC not working. The bathroom was filthy. And guests were drinking and smoking outside all night. And the poor girl at the front desk had a customer coming in with a knife. Severely unsafe. I am still baffled by this stay.

The rooms lack cleanliness. The hotel room / bathroom smelt of mold and urine. There are no amenities. The beds were small and very uncomfortable. There were strange stains throughout the walls and definitely could use some cleaning. The room did not look nor feel clean. I am pleased though that the house keeper nearby came with no hesitation to give our room another cleaning. Towels provided were extremely small meant more for a child. Our stay was 2 nights and 3 days and asked for room service which we did not get. Will not be coming back.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We paid almost $400 for a room at this property because all rooms were sold out everywhere else. When we got to our room it reeked of smoke. There are two cigarette ash trays in the room. I called the front desk and informed them that we should be in a none smoking room. She said our reservation was for a smoking room which was not true. They couldn’t switch room for us because they were sold out. If I didn’t have my kids with me, I would have left and slept in my car. The sheets were stained and there were no hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner-just a little bar of soap. Terrible experience. If you can help it, find another place to stay.

The staffing was good

The floor in my room turned my feet almost black from walking barefoot the whole time. They DO NOT MOP! No freezer. A/C unit was totally busted open & barely blew any air. Pool & hot tub were still not open. Microwave did not spin.

Newly remodeled rooms but our room was in desperate need of repair. The shower and toilet leaked water all over the floor plus the new lights didnt work. Plus parts of the room were dirty. The staff ws very nice and we like the remodeled rooms. Convenient plug ins too.

Now this will not stop all bugs from coming in and we did find a few more. This made it harder to sleep as now you feel like bugs are on you. The $3 door sweep would have made a HUGE difference!!! They are in the process of some updating but to me if the room is offered for rent then it should be ready in all aspects. Had we been staying more then 1 night we would have left the premises and found accommodations elsewhere. The staff again was amazing, but this bug issue is a big issue. Hopefully the owners read this and spend the $3 per sweep so future guest do not have this issue.

The pool was closed for the season as well as thee hot tub. This was late june. I was very disappointed since it didnt state tate on the website and i chose this one for the hot tub and pool.

the remodeling on the property looked great. Overall, the stay was good. I have other comments but has nothing to do with the Motel 6.

Rude ignorant staff, i could not understand anything they said it took 20 minutes to get checked in, they could not find the reservation, the they wanted a cash deposit, then they wanted more paperwork filled out, it took 30 minutes to get to the room because of the incompetent and rude arrogant staff

front desk not friendly lady was in a bad mood irritated like if she didnt want to be at work. room was bad toilet was clogged and no one was able to help us did checked out early morning trying to look for another hotel to finish our business trip. will not recomend this hotel

The beds were uncomfortable, you could feel the springs, there was yellowing in the bathrooms on the ceiling, the pool and hottub were both filthy and the was a spider in one of the beds

The room was recently renovated and was fantastic! Only complaint was that the bed was very lumpy and worn out. Plus there was not enough handicap parking spots or wide/long enough parking spaces. Some sketchy people around but we had no issues. Nice place to stay and we'll be staying there again!

The lady a front desk was rude, the people in the room next to us were fighting and screaming to the top of their lungs for over an hour and no one did anything about it. Wow just crazy there never again.

They don't sweep very often and having laundry facility advertised and then realize it's down isn't cool. Especially since your charged for that option anyhow. Nowhere on the site does it mention that it's not available. And changing the time to get coffee in the office. All of a sudden it's not available after 10am and pulled and it's always cold and weak. Nothing like cutting corners huh? It really sucks because if a motel doesn't have coffee available 24/7 like almost all do......then it's a game changer and not worth staying there. Why isn't a lot of amenities not posted on site when your booking and thinking your getting all of them????????? We are paying for them, right?

Comfortable bed and reasonably friendly staff, but the room smelled of cigarette smoke despite a no-smoking policy, the furnishings had seen better days, and other tenants/people in the parking lot were acting strange (blasting music, revving engines, wandering around the balconies in pajamas staring at the parking lot people and looking lost and confused - actually, on second thought, that last bit might have been reasonable behavior…). Good for a cheap hotel and non-picky customers. There is only coffee at the motel, but they do offer a discount at the next-door IHOP if you present your hotel key.

The night xlerl Mixhele was awesome at.chexk in... they had me in a smoking room and i can not stay innpet or smoking rooms.. Michele quicly changed my room and was so nice and professional about it. Check out lady was great next morning

The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The location was terrible. Took a walk and there were crack pipes on the sidewalk. The heater/air conditioner cover was broken. The outside of the door looked like someone tried to break on. The floor was dirty and couldn’t walk around without socks or shoes. No in room coffee. Bed was comfortable.

I liked the evening girls and morning girl in the office. The only good manager is the one that does real work . You would be better off renting a room at any other hotel. They allow fentanyl users to use drugs all over the property and allow a lot of illegal activity to go on. They steal your money after they say they refunded your money when they didn't. AND THEY FORGE RECORDS AND LIE. THEY HIRE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WHO DONT DO THEYRE JOBS. THE ROOMS ARE DISGUSTING

(Just my opinion) After showing her email confirmations, pdf files, & app confirms, she tried to double charge me for room I already paid for, all because she couldnt operate the updated system. After I was reimbursed by Motel6 AND hotels.com (thanks), she had it out for me from then on! IMO, she sounded like one ANGRY little piggy & looked like one HUNGRY hungry hippo! But don't take my word for it! See what happens when a Middle Earth dwarf-ette & the purple Grimace character from McD's (ba da ba ba da) swipe right on Tinder, & tell me Im wrong! So my rating is only a reflection of the short-bus short-fuse short-round hobbit (the sad breaker of mirrors). Everyone else during the week: at the front desk & even on the weekend's other shifts were the BEST! It was jusr the lone remaining member of the Lollipop Guild. And the owner? Nah, good luck there! One opinion is that maybe the owner is the mini-Grimace's dad's sister daughter grandpa uncle & he can't fire his Kin, but who knows? Room smelled bad... The strong smell of urine and cigarettes was overwhelming to the point that I went and got some pine trees from my car to hide the smell a bit. I spelled a bit of water on the floor and went to wipe it with a napkin, and that napkin was BLACK with dirt. The last thing that will keep me away from any Motel 6 for ever now is cockroaches, there was many cockroaches. I know it's supposed to be cheap and all, but at that point I would have rather stayed in my car for the night.

After coming back from the trip, all of our stuff smell like cigarette smoke as well.

Door lock didn't work

For the most part everyone at the desk was pleasant. Robert is always amazing! We are waiting for our house to be ready and have been staying for multiple weeks and have only encountered minor issues. If you have a choice between Fife and Tacoma, make sure you choose Tacoma. Rooms are updated and way less transient activity.

Had some bang on our door at 2am the checked our car doors to see if they were locked before seeing he was being watched. Then he came to the window and knocked again before leaving. Feel bad for the staff having to deal with issues that may arise there.

We where afraid r car would get broken in to. Very sketchy area. But we can deal with that.. But the rudeness of the front desk lady was way over the top.. Not returning!

I had to switch rooms three times every room something was wrong and the final room didn't have any heat at that point I was done

The hotel needed some repair and the neighbourhood was sketchy, we did not feel comfortable with the neighborhood and Left after one night

I was told I couldn't stay here anymore for no reason. Said there was traffic when i was staying there with my wife and three toddlers. ( My daughters)

Employees short tempered has roaches in the rooms don't stick to the reimbursements they agreed to give you and try to act like you miss Heard them with what they said

The pungent odour of pot in the room was almost overwhelming. I don't believe people smoked in the room but they definitely had it on their person. Main lights did not work. Renovations in progress made the room seem unfinished. But they are on the right track. Highway and HVAC quite noisy. If you're city golf you'll be fine. Staff were excellent. Room was clean and tidy. Door didn't fully seal.

Property managers very friendly

Horrible experience. I booked a non-smoking room. The room I had, smelled cigarette and weed. The smell was terrible. The bathroom sink was clogged. There were red stains on the bathroom sink and all over the bath and some on the bed sheets. This was the filthiest room I ever had. I did not spend the night in there; too gross. I booked another room in another hotel. It was too disgusting to stay. The motel in general looks neglected. I couldn't imagine the state of the other rooms.

The office staff was very good

The first night I stayed the last at the front desk was super nice! I came back two days later needing to stay again and it was a different lady and she seemed like she really didn't want to be there. When I checked into my room the 2nd stay the shower faucet sounded like it was on and when I went to look at it there was hair in the tub and on one of the beds so I called the front desk and explained about the faucet and the hair and the lady was like so your hair is on the tub and on the bed and you want a different room. Sounding irritated that I bothered her. I told her no not my hair and she said come get another key so when I went back to the office she didn't say anything just slid the key over and turned away. I said thank you and she just kept looking away fromme and then said you got all your stuff out of the room right and I said yes I only just walked in the room so I didn't have time to unpack and she rolled her eyes at me and turned towards the back part of the office.

The place was filled with druggies and the room was filthy. The ground had rubbish all over the place. We spent one night. It was a horrible experience all around.

I reserved a non-smoking room and paid for it in advance and noted that it would be a late check in. We got there around 9:30 ish or later and the clerk gave us a smoking room! Not only that but also in an area that was behind the motel where it was crowded, no parking and not so good characters walking around. One gal was hunched over her trunk, trying to hide something, a dude with hoody on hanging out on a corner and some shady business happening in the corner of parking lot. It was enough to say that I wanted a refund and dodge the heck outta there BUT hubby got us a different room that the clerk offered us earlier when she checked and all rooms were booked. We got a remodeled room and the stay ended up not being too bad. Slept thru the night in a comfortable room. They had issues but in the long run, it all worked out.

Clean rooms, affordable, exterior in need of repairs and pool didn’t look clean

We book the room and prepaid. We check in late around 11pm and they are overbooked. They rush to clean one room but it’s a smoking room. We were asked to wait for almost 1 hour. Off course the room is smoky. Front desk said they will waive the room fee because of inconvenience. I call two days later and they denied saying that and never call me back.

Dumpster at my door which made for a lot of Knats and flies in my room. Needs more parking spaces as well. The staff is top tier

It seemed like a few homeless people were impacting this area…as in many areas. Everyone was very nice, the dog that barked all night next door was frustrating…and we have and love dogs….the room was newly renovated and really nice!

Elmers is good food really close by. There seemed like there was a lot of tweakers staying there, the tv didn’t work well but it worked. Still better than super 8 other then the tv

Rooms were all new no parking had to walk a was to my room. Trash smelled

Air conditioning did not work, door seal was non existent as there was a 1/2 and larger gap around the door. Has a WIFI network but did not get any internet access. They are renovating the hotel but have sea cans and dumpsters taking up parking spots. Room was completely renovated but they left the old cigarette burnt tub in the bathroom.

of vice to cope house keeping is actually good they spend a decent amount of time cleaning each room I had observed as well as the people that stay seem to build friendships and it's a little block party outside on a daily some people would say oh it's a bunch of junkies but I do not judge people as we all as human beings have some sort of vice to cope with our hardships in life some choose drugs or alcohol while others choose coffee and gambling or some people choose food or soda and candy we are all only human beings and we all should re center ourselves to remember that fact of life sometimes instead of judge if they are leaving my property alone then I'm ok it's harmless and alot of the people that stay there are very friendly alongside the staff is equally very friendly we will definitely be staying there again . Thanks for a good stay in my time of need and a great price as I'm not very financially stable at the moment. So again thank you.

Smelled like stale cigarettes. Bed was uncomfortable. Thin walls and ceilings

They're in the midst of a renovation so I can only guess that our room was yet to be renovated. Parking in front of our room was blocked by a dumpster that the crews were there to remove and then begin reloading again at 730 in the morning.

It was an 84 degree day and still hot at night when we arrived. AC didn't turn on, and staff was friendly but didn't know how to fix it. The next morning a courteous and efficient maintenance/electrical guy named Chris fixed it, as well as the TV which had a plug that kept sliding off the plug in. It felt a little awkward that the walkway upstairs on the way to the room was slanted downward, but it wasn't wobbly so I'm sure its not a safety issue. The room cost and all was the best around, and I'd definitely stay there again as well as recommend it.

We didn't feel safe. There is homeless people all around the property, drug dealings happening around the property. Uncomfortable beds. Construction going on to the property that was disruptive to our stay, they shouldn't book the rooms around that.

Clean, recently renovated room however there was some piping sticking out of the wall from what I assume used to be a kitchen area. But the room was clean and comfortable for the night. Some noise due to weatherstripping around the door missing from being worked on but not the end of the world.

Not only was there bugs in the tub, the door that has a peephole was blurred out so we couldn’t see anything, combo that with a few roaches we found in the room, cigarette burns on the grayish blanket, a dried red stain on the sheet, it wasn’t a pleasant experience

The band had to go back several times in order to get a room that was not occupied already by someone else, that was not a smoking rom, that had an air conditioner that worked.... not a pleasant situation.

Had a plumbing issue and was immediately transferred to another room but other than that, the staff was great and the property was clean.

When I entered the check in “lobby”, first thing I noticed was the “if you are being sex trafficked” sign. We were “upgraded” to two beds and then went to our room. Police were doing surveillance across the street by the broken down motor home and trailer. Got in the room and the smell was horrible, don’t even know what it was. When I turned on the sink, the floor got wet, so I looked and the pipes under the sink were broke so they just poured onto the floor. Next up bathroom…turned on the fan/light switch (all in one) and started to look strong to see why the bathroom was filling with the stench of pot…very strong! Let’s see…I did feel bad for the family with multiple children living in the next room. Not only for their circumstances, but the youngest almost got hit in the parking lot and was trying to get into our room. Anyway, we went to a concert that night and returned late. We ate our drive thru food in the car because I knew if I went in the room to eat, knowing the smell, I’d lose my appetite, so we ate in my car around midnight. Low and behold, not even two minutes into eating, we watched a huge drug deal occurring right in front of my car (on the road by the motor home and trailer)…we feared for ourselves at that point. We waited and basically ran to our room and locked the door, hoping no one would notice us. We were woken at least twice from car alarms in the parking lot that night. Ummmm…yeah

Walkway along the pool was littered with cigarette butts and debris for the 2 days we stayed there. Room was clean but there was no hair dryer.

Specifically booked a non smoking room, and of course they only had smoking rooms left. The room reaked of cigarettes and the window was not one that can be opened. There were stains of some sort on the edge of the tub and a hole I assume was punched into the bathroom door. Will never stay here ever again.
