Huge rooms, quiet. Could use a refresh, but clean and very traditional/classic old school hotel.

The room was comfortable, clean and cool. Breakfast buffet was great. Shaughnessys was fun. Check-in and check-out staff were friendly.
- 5/5
Place was very close to our event and breakfast was included.

The hotel is very beautiful and the staff is extremely helpful and kind. I would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
The chairs in the room were quite old. The fabric was withering away. The rest was fine.
- 3.5/5
The hotel was fine. It's a beautiful period building, so the lobby and communal areas are impressive, but as a result, the rooms are quite old-fashioned. That said, it was comfortable enough and perfectly adequate for a two night business stay. Location was great for downtown Syracuse. The breakfast was pretty awful, especially considering it's not bundled in. I skipped it on day two. The pillows are way too soft. The bed had too much paraphernalia on it -blankets, cushions. Makes getting into bed a right faff! Like all hotels, it needs more lights.

My room was large and comfortable. The tv was not working and they sent a person up to my room to fix it very quickly. But I found some seeds on the floor and tags in the bathroom that were not from my clothes. Overall I had a great time and would stay again though
- 5/5
The property was dated but it was clean and the staff was excellent.
- 5/5
Breakfast buffet was simple but one can also order. Lovely old hotel with really nice room. Will stay here again!
- 4/5
The disappointment was our room was in need of renovation/updates. It was comfortable, but the walls were heavily stained and in need of painting and the desk chair was worn and the seat cushion had a lump in the center. We also received very old bath linens; one of the towels actually had a hole in the center! There was tape left on the window framing from someone who had previously hung decorations in the room. It did not feel as though enough attention was being given to the in-room experience. We would return, but we did feel the comfort and experience the quality we would expect at a four-star hotel.
- 5/5
Very beautiful hotel will go again highly recommend!!!

The hotel was filthy with trash all over the outside and lobby. No amenities and smelled.

Loved the 1920s charm-was not expecting that. Close to attractions. There was some leftover food in mini fridge.

Perfect place to stay when visiting my slice!

Our booked room wasnt clean on arrival, they offered us a different room, luckily it worked for us, we changed rooms, and they were able to accomidate with coupons to the resturant.
- 5/5
Breakfast off the menu at 11 Waters was fantastic. Beautiful, vintage, fully restored hotel. We did not attempt the 20 minute walk to campus but it was a 5 minute drive away from the University. This was the nicest hotel we have stayed in Syracuse so far.
- 5/5
Clean room.
- 5/5
Beautiful and clean
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel & friendly staff
- 5/5
Gorgeous and well-preserved historic building. Elevators were speedy. Beautiful rooms.
- 5/5
Great downtown Syracuse location. Walking distance to the theater and many fantastic restaurants.
- 4/5
There was no drinking water in the room, and only one towel for a couple—there should be two. The restaurant service double-charged me twice.
- 5/5
Loved!
- 5/5
Great history, lots of activity and restaurants.
- 5/5
Always a comfortable stay! Restaurant on site. Staff is always helpful and friendly

- 5/5
Great location if you are going to be attending activities at Syracuse University or visiting your kid. Nice historic hotel. Very nice staff and valet service. Clean. Bathroom is in need of a little TLC, but overall a nice stay.
- 3/5
Facility was clean. It would be great to have breakfast included. My room was very noisy. We could hear all passing cars, and we were not able to sleep comfortable.
- 5/5
Staff were amazing. Humored my kids silly questions.
- 5/5
Stayed previously and will stay again
- 1/5
3 hour wait to get out into our room. Room was supposed to be a king with a sofa bed, called front desk to let them know. Front desk said they would bring one up, fast forward to roughly 1 in the morning and the bed still wasn’t delivered yet, finally it was.
- 5/5
AMAZING!!!
- 5/5
Clean, staff was great
- 5/5
We had a great stay. Beds were very comfortable. Room was very large (multi bed). It was very close to the theatre that we were attending to see the travelling Wicked Broadway show. Great time!
- 5/5
The hotel is amazing.. live that they kept the old historical feel and decor. My wifes favorite hotel to stay in
- 5/5

- 5/5
Had a great stay this past weekend. The front staff was amazing with their customer service and answer any questions we had. The room was clean. The valet parking attendants were always courteous and customer service was excellent. They offered ideas of where to go eat or shop. Highly recommend the Marriott Downtown Syracuse.

Everything was great
- 4/5
Thenroom slwas spacious and clean. The staff were good as well. There were.2 parties occuring so valet was a nightmare for hotel guests.
- 5/5
A beautiful hotel! We had a wonderful stay and will definitely book future stays here.
- 5/5
The breakfast was fresh and delicious. The staff was so friendly. A great stay all around.
- 5/5
Room was amazing and the staff was very accommodating for early check in
- 2/5
We had a dirty room our shower had mold in the corners. The staff is good the cleanliness of the room was just awful.
- 5/5
Clean room, welcoming staff, breakfast not included but still available and reasonable
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly. The lobby is beautiful with all of the old woodwork and detail. The rooms could be a bit more polished. They were a little tired with scratches on the tables, dirty vents in the bathroom and rust in the shower. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
- 3/5
Initially, the building looked pretty cool. The closer I looked at it thought the more I noticed. Carpet coming up from the stairs and the brass bannisters were all green. The room was in desperate need of a paint job, the shower was dirty and the molding in the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. There was no counter space in the bathroom, the hair dryer work and the towels were crunchy. The people next door slammed their door all night until about 2:30am and deliveries could be heard from the 7th floor. The staff was incredibly nice.
- 5/5
Room was beautiful, the hotel was beautiful. Such an icon in downtown
- 5/5
Brian checked us in and was so welcoming and pleasant
- 5/5
Staff. Very generous in upgrading room as a Platinum Bonvoy member.
- 5/5
Perfect downtown stay!
- 2/5
The bathroom was not clean

We also arrived during a fund raiser and despite multiple calls, it took about an hour for someone to bring sheets up for the sofa bed. The sheets that were brought up to us were old and not comfortable at all.
- 5/5
We were upgraded to 1108 suite. It was beautiful!!!
- 5/5
Walking distance to many establishments

You have a diamond in the rough with this location. I am very surprised that the Marriott Hotels did not take the Hotel Syracuse to a higher level! The rooms were nice. The lobby and hotel decor is very depressing. Wrong shade of beige. Sorry for my negative comments but I have experienced this hotel at its prime and with all its renovations it still doesn’t even come close to its potential magnitude of enchantment. I realize I am more a One South, Ritz Carlton type guest but still love traditional type hotels. This Hotel has great potential if it was managed, marketed and designed in the way it could reach its true value profitability. One other thing I noticed. Your valet employees were not dressed in some type of uniform. People were asking guest to get their car. They were to casually dresses. Did not look professional. I did like my room. I rarely react to surveys but I felt that I needed to say what I said because I know what this hotel to could be. It’s needed in this area. It’s centrally located. It’s in the heart of downtown Syracuse It’s easy access to other restaurants and bars. Thank you. Kathleen Ludovico

Breakfast was healthy and tasty. And love the staffs. They were kind and helpful

Pam at the front desk could not have been kinder and more welcoming. She made us feel right at home and ensured we would have a terrific stay.

Clean room. Beautiful hotel.
- 5/5
Excellent room eith amazing water pressure in the shower
- 5/5
This is such a beautiful hotel, I enjoyed walking around and looking at all the details of the historical charm, I even was treated to getting to see the magnificent ballroom! I definitely recommend staying here.

- 5/5
Excellent
- 4/5
Doors locked at 11:45 pm and had to call to be let in, which was odd. Front desk person was helpful and nice, though.
- 2/5
Installation’s very old. Expensive valet parking and the parking garage was far in a very unsafe scary area
- 5/5
It’s a historic hotel and the details are incredible. Also, one of the best and most filling breakfasts I’ve had in quite some time.
- 4/5
Friendly staff, nice size rooms, convenient to theaters and restaurants. Beautiful building.
- 5/5
We stayed here prior to my son taking an exam at facility for his medical license. The room was very clean, front desk young man was very courteous. He even gave us a free coupon for breakfast for two. We ate at eleven waters for dinner as well. Wow definitely recommend eleven waters. It was so delicious. The doors upon entering each room are very historic and have some history in themselves. Look it up! The gym was clean and worked well. The beds were extremely comfortable. The only thing I would change is next time as a woman I would use the valet. There were a couple of interesting people hanging out near the parking garage. But this is definitely worth staying here!
- 5/5
Excellent staff, great room, only quibble is that Colgate, my Alma Mater, got thoroughly whomped by the Orange.
- 4/5
Free parking and breakfast would’ve been nice.
- 3/5
Check in wasn’t great. Got there at 3:15…a little early for check in. No problem. Told them we would take ANY room - didn’t have to be the king room we reserved. Told us no rooms were ready and we would go in a “queue” for available rooms. Seemed like most people were checking in and getting keys right away. Check back at 3:50 - room wasn’t ready…said they would call us. At 4:30 we went back up to the desk…new employees at this point. Asked straight away if we wouldn’t mind a different room and gave us keys!! Told them that in the beginning. Seemed as if we would’ve sat there for hours with no call unless we kept checking. It was annoying. Hotel is nice otherwise…room was spotless but a little dated.
- 5/5
Rich history!
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel spacious rooms friendly staff
- 3/5
Nice historic building.
- 5/5
I was here for Scare-a-Con 2025. This is an older property that Marriott purchased. It shows signs of age, but the staff and service are fantastic! Great buffet breakfast and good food and drink at the Irish pub. I would definitely stay here again!
- 5/5
Always nice option for being in Syracuse... a great option
- 5/5
Fantastic room, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast and service. The facility is a beautifully restored 100 year old landmark. Will definitely return

- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
Excellent room, great staff and great restaurants. Hotel is clean and historically beautiful.
- 5/5
Comfy beds
- 3/5
We paid a very high price for our two-night stay and unfortunately did not feel the value matched the cost. The shower had visible mold, no complimentary water bottles were offered, and valet service was unorganized — even after calling ahead, no one retrieved our car, and we were not informed that self-parking was an option. Additionally, there were no linens provided for the pull-out bed, and when we requested them it took over an hour to receive. Overall, the stay was just “okay,” but for the premium rate we expected much better service and attention to detail.
- 5/5
We moved our daughter into Syracuse University and stayed at this hotel. The staff and accommodations were great! We never had to wait for anything we needed. It’s a beautiful hotel and will be our first choice place to stay near the university!
- 5/5
This is an absolutely gorgeous hotel. It is a historical site and the architecture and artwork in the hotel is beyond! It was such a treasure and I am so pleased that the renovation and restoration went perfectly it's still very represented of the period. Not to be missed and worth every penny.
- 5/5
Historic. Fantastic.
- 4/5
Did not like Pub food
- 4/5
The rooms were great. I didn’t like that we had to pay for coffee this morning, free on weekends. The rooms were really nice, the staff were great. I didn’t like they charged for wifi, please tuck it into the price. My daughter and I were out walking and there was drug addicts accross the street, I know that happens, but it wasn’t them it was two other guys who made us feel unsafe. The ubers were good. The parking was not great as it was extra as well.
- 5/5
Staff were very kind and supportive
- 5/5
Hotel was amazing from the check in to the check out. Staff goes above and beyond to make sure each guest is comfortable and happy. Very polite and friendly staff in every area of the hotel. Room was very clean. Beds were comfortable with very fresh linens. Beautiful hotel in walking distance to restaurants, stores and bars. Will be back!
- 5/5
From the after hours security guard that walked us into the hotel, to Tamika who greeted us with a smile and quickly got us into our room as it was nearly 5am (due to a delay in our flight for 7hours!) to the bedroom, the quiet location. The hotel ambience and decor is fantastic! Keep up the outstanding work!
- 5/5
Gorgeous renovation
- 5/5
Hotels was nice just dated. But then again it’s an old hotel so the history. And woodwork is kinda cool. Very convenient to go to concerts on the Lake. It’s right across from the bus station. Only problem is kitchen closed T 11:00 on a Saturday night down stairs in the Irish pub
- 5/5
The staff was very helpful and courteous. The room was very spacious and clean.
- 3/5
Older hotel, no amenities for the bathrooms- basics like lotion. Front desk staff was friendly and responsive. Housekeeping forgot their belongings in my room, the sheets were stained, walls were dirty. I'm surprised by the lack of attention to detail.
- 5/5
Loved the hotel decor and amazing service! Thank you
- 3/5
Our room was supposed to be ready at 4:00, but it wasn't ready until 8:00 pm
- 5/5
Excellent facility in a challenging location
- 5/5
Great location, nice building.
- 5/5
I would definitely recommend it to others.
- 5/5
No water bottles in the room. Need better in-room coffee offerings. Otherwise, very content.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel!
- 3/5
Arrived just after 4pm, when check in was allowed, and the room was not ready. We waited about an hour and a half only to join a line of guests in the lobby checking in and being told the same. Once we reached the desk they confirmed we were in the queue for clean rooms and were in luck as ours had just been listed as ready. It was frustrating but I can’t imagine arriving as late as 5:30 or 6 and not being able to go to your room. I also felt for the people at the desk having to manage so many unhappy travelers - management needs to address this staffing issue ASAP.
- 1/5
Check in says 4p, got here at 3p, and said will call when room is ready. Never received a call, called at 6:30p, says still in the queue for check in, but will squeeze us in. Checked in at 7pm, dropped off our luggages and set the thermostat to 65 since it was 80 degrees in the room. Came back at 9p, temperature didn’t drop. Called front desk, sent a tech out, fixed the issue. Went to go shower, no conditioner left in the bottle, called front desk, says will send some up. Went to turn on the tv, remote can change volume but cannot change channels. This place was terrible by far. Called front desk, offered me 50k points. Really? What is a hotel room without TV, terrible check in service and the list goes on? Horrible.

- 5/5
The hotel was immaculate, friendly, and very attentive. The front desk concierge was probably the most friendly and helpful gentleman in years for my heavy business travel, highly recommend this hotel !!!
- 5/5
This is such a cool place to stay. This 100-year-old hotel was delicately restored and maintains much of the class from when it was built. The staff are professional and courteous, really going out of their way for my anniversary. I especially appreciated Kessan, front desk associate that checked us in, Caroline, front desk manager that provided us with gifts in our room, and Gonzalo, M club associate that provided us with an upscale and friendly atmosphere that made us feel at home.

Love the antique part of the property mixed with newer renovations.
- 5/5
Great hotel with lovely staff. Convenient for walking to the areas we wanted to see.
- 5/5
Very cool 1920s deco with modern aspects. We very much enjoyed our stay,
- 5/5
Comfy bed and large room. Lovely staff at check in and 12pm checkout as a default was a pleasant surprise. Would stay here again.
- 5/5
The staff was outstanding and I LOVE that they had room service! They were very helpful and understanding despite a concerning linen shortage…
- 1/5
I made a reservation 5 months in advance. Our room was not ready they put us in a room that had blood on the sheets walls and towels. When we got our regular room we went to breakfast and came back at 915 am and the cleaners were in our room. We had out money visible my jewelry visible and check out was at 12 so why was anyone in our room . This was the worst stay i ecery had at $300 a night. Will never go back !
- 3/5
The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was undersupplied...no face clothes, hand towels, bath mat. The room was small, but comfortable. Our room was right above the trash dumpsters that were emptied at 6am. Expected more from Marriott.
- 4/5
Mediocre food
- 5/5
Beautiful old hotel close walking to great food and shopping
- 3/5
The hotel is nice but the rooms are very small.
- 3/5
Hotel was ok. The shower doors have mildew all over even the tiles in the bathroom have mildew. You guys need to make sure your housekeepers are scrubbing down these bathrooms. This is the most important things in a hotel stay.
- 3/5
When you stay at the Marriott you dont expect to find blood on the sheets after having reported it in the morning house keeping changed the sheets it is somewhat disappointing to find this at a Marriott Hotel.
- 5/5
Beautiful old hotel with modern features while retaining lovely public areas. Gorgeous ballroom.
- 4/5
Checkin was fast and easy and the staff was friendly. Parking was confusing and the proper location wasn't provided by the staff. The room was clean and spacious but there was a blood stain on one of the sheets. The buffet breakfast was terrible, the eggs were dry, the sausage was really greasy, the bacon was under cooked, and there were no pancakes. We got breakfast elsewhere on the second morning. Be prepared to spend an additional $39 per day for breakfast($20) and parking($19), neither is discounted. If I need to stay in Syracuse again, it will be elsewhere.
- 5/5
Loved the renovated restaurant. Will need to check out the attached Irish Pub. Loved the kings sized bed and the double sinks in the bathroom. Great hotel in the best location. Parking in the garage was super convenient too.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 2/5
Sink clogged and would flood. Asked them to fix and they didn’t.
- 4/5
All good
- 4/5
Very charming and historic hotel. A bit of a walk to Armory Square, which is where most of the activity is happening in Syracuse. Otherwise not a great area and expensive to park at the hotel.
- 5/5
This was a very good stay. The building is beautiful and historic. The staff are very friendly and the two restaurants on site are very good.
- 5/5
Hotel is conveniently located but the construction was a pain. We walked to restaurants and the room was great!
- 5/5
The hotel was located within a resonabke distance from where we wanted to be, could walk to restaurants.
- 1/5
Staff not welcoming. Limited food on the premises or in the area.
- 1/5
Even I ask for shower chair for handicap person, they didn't even prepare for it, finally brought last broken one so we have so many hardship to take shower for handicap person and assistance. House keeping for second night was ok. But first night already prepared for customer was really, really terrible. Valet was also so bad to treat for wheel chaired customer.
- 4/5
It might be a big hotel, but its charming on the inside and well taken care of!

The hotel itself was quite nice. Very traditional with a grand lobby. We had an issue with the drain in one of the double sinks. The room was quite large. Looks like they renovated to merge two guest rooms into one large room at some point. The location on the other hand is sketchy. Close to the bus terminal and lots of strange characters on the streets around the hotel.
- 5/5
Hotel parking
- 5/5

- 5/5
You to get panhandlers around the hotel, asking for money. But the front doors to the hotel are locked and you can’t get in without a room key.
- 5/5
We arrived on Friday to attend a Syracuse crunch game and we have no idea Saturday would be parade day (St Patrick’s)! We were supposed to check out Saturday, but we couldn’t leave because all the roads were blocked for the parade. Luckily, the hotel had a room and we ended up staying another night. I am so glad we did because the hotel offered a variety activities regarding the parade and we had the absolutely best time.
- 2/5
People and service were great though. Need massive upgrade in cleaning / room prep service.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel
- 4/5
All night I listened to a door slamming. Not a quiet place, people outside screaming and honking their horns at all hours. The icing on the cake was housekeeping knocking on my door at 8AM and again at 8:15AM, then acting shocked that I was in the room let alone that I was annoyed. It was absurd to be waking people up. Check out is noon, not 8.
- 4/5
The hotel is amazing. It is gorgeous and the place is convenient. The city is abandoned everything is closed and ended. It’s so sad to see that’s happening.
- 4/5
The hotel was great. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner.
- 4/5
The staff was amazing and very accommodating. I checked in late so they allowed me to checkout late. Thank you so much. I will definitely come back if I travel to Syracuse.
- 5/5
Excellent hotel
- 5/5
Nice property
- 4/5
Great room. Great service. I would not recommend the room service. DoorDash instead. It’s probably faster.
