Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its location, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, there are some recurring issues with the quality of breakfast, noise from neighboring rooms, and problems with billing and reservations.
- Great location, especially for visiting Syracuse University
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Poor quality breakfast
- Noise from neighboring rooms and creaky floors

Excellent property, will be back soon.

Did not appreciate sirens for nearby hospitals, but understood location.
- 5/5
Clean and comfy room with nice bathroom. Rooms have a fridge but no coffee maker, but the free coffee area is the best I've ever seen--hot coffee and a little fridge with a variety of milk and non-dairy milk choices. First time I've ever seen oat milk at a hotel coffee station! Parking is free and easy--your key opens the gate to the hotel lot. It's about a 5-10 minute walk to campus and they allowed me to park before check in. Very courteous staff.

Lovely clean place . We will be staying there again !!

Best bed I have slept in. Beautiful hotel that was a synagogue.
- 5/5
Really friendly staff! Good vibes. Well laid out rooms, new plumbing. Nice breakfast. And great location, two blocks from Upstate Hospital, where my spouse was having a procedure done.

nice large clean room and lobby has nice bar. centrally located and easy to park
- 5/5
The two front deck ladies were super friendly, especially the night shift young lady.
- 4/5
The hotel is nice and centrally located to the University. One issue was shower took a bit to get the hot water. The room also allowed too much light in the evening and would be better with blackout curtains. Not sure if I’d stay here again.
- 5/5
It was clean, nicely decorated, and the staff was friendly. Also, free parking was very convenient for us, as we toured the University on our check-out day. It was a nice bonus to nor have to find and possibly pay for other parking. The price was a bit high but still manageable. N/A

Great location!
- 4/5
Great and close location to Syracuse University. Creaky floors and doors slamming at 4:30am were not the best way to wake up. It definitely needs remodeling but it was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful! Musts in the area Collegetown bagels, Haraz, Varsity, and Pastabilities.

We loved this boutique hotel. The junior suite was roomy & comfortable. Plus the location in the city is excellent.

The room was perfect, and staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Was curious about an older building renovated into a hotel. We loved it, but might wait 'til it's warmer to return. Thanks for a great stay.

The exterior of the building is quite beautiful And the staff was friendly There is nothing boutique or special about this Hilton Tapestry Collection hotel. For all intense and purposes it looks like a low end hotel on the inside. Outrageously expensive for the stay. The food was premade and very few things on the menu. I really feel tricked because of the pictures I thought this would be a lovely renovated hotel. It’s not. I will be writing a complaint to Hilton.

The breakfast burrito could have been better The HVAC system was a bit noisy when running, on the picky side the floors squeaked and felt spongy in places both these comments pertain to minor shortcomings.

Nice mix of breakfast offerings. I enjoyed the oatmeal with fruit and honey.

i did like the overall looks of the hotel. that is it. i did not like anything about the hotel skyler, they lied to me and said i could check in below the age of 21 and i could not. they would not let me (a 20 year old male) check in after paying 500 dollars for 2 nights. the receptionist was very rude and disrespected me and my wife. very very bad place.

Phenomenal location!!! It’s pretty much ON Syracuse University campus!!! Extremely convenient for parents of a student there!!! We had a very large room that could easily accommodate a queen size bed, with room to spare, but there was only a full size bed! It didn’t make any sense when guests would be so much more comfortable in a queen!

This hotel met all the usual hotel expectations - clean room, amenities, but the staff were just exceptional. They were accommodating, and pleasant, and went above expectations In friendliness. They took the time to visit with us, laugh with us and just made for a wonderful experience. Enjoy your stay!
- 3/5
Stayed here multiple times and usually no issues. I booked a king and was given a queen bed. Room was quite smaller than others I've stayed in there. The fridge began loudly humming at 5 am, and then in the morning i woke up to an icebox of a room as the thermostat had reset to 60! I would stay here again but make sure you don't get this room.
- 4/5
Check in /out was seamless. Room was dark. No light switch to be found for bedroom. Had the junior suite. Only small wall sconce lights. And, no coffee maker!! They do offer coffee in the lobby, but a small machine in the room would be a huge bonus. Architecture was beautiful. Walkable to the Dome. Very safe neighborhood. Will definitely stay again.

The Skyler is always great. The hotel is lovely, staff is great and you can't beat the location.

However, our rooms were strange. We booked 2 suites, one for our teenage son and one for ourselves. One room was not ready for about an hour and a half (several hours after the check in window opened) so we gave the first room to our child while we had a couple of cocktails. When our “suite” was finally ready, it was much much smaller, quite cramped, and in fact the bed seemed like a strange size. Definitely not a King which is what we sleep in at home. In the morning, I asked the staff if it was possible that this was not a king bed. I was told that it was listed as a king room, and long story short, after basically being told I was crazy by the manager (!!), we ended up going upstairs with the maintenance man so he could measure the bed. Lo and behold, for some reason the bed was NOT a king, and not a queen…totally random size. I have no idea what sheets they use on this thing but the staff were just as confounded as we were. The manager on duty absolutely should have apologized for his snotty & incredulous attitude, except he did not apologize nor offer any concession whatsoever. PS you have to pay for parking, which is ridiculous because the parking lot is the size of a state fair, but 85% empty during summer program check in at Syracuse.
- 3/5
Great location but not as nice as other hotels in area
- 5/5
Clean, quiet and walkable to SUNY Upstate and SU
- 5/5
Really pretty property and spacious rooms. Easy walking distance to campus and M Street area. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing! Will stay again
- 5/5
Very clean and spacious room and bathroom. Fantastic location. Great place to stay if you’re visiting your daughter/son at Syracuse! Walk to everything.
- 5/5
The staff was absolutely outstanding. Always kind and super accommodating. We will definitely be coming back.
- 5/5
Top flight hotel in the heart of Syracuse NY. Amazing staff and facility. Would recommend to anyone going to upstate NY.
- 5/5
I stayed at this hotel for my daughter’s university tour of Syracuse University. Very convenient to SU and hospitals. I will stay again when they’re not booked all the time lol.
- 5/5
Just what we wanted. Great spot. We will be visiting the University again in October or November, and intend to stay here again.
- 5/5
I will stay there next time
- 5/5
Excellent new property
- 4/5
Ok stay
- 4/5
Very unique room, quiet, safe and friendly staff
- 4/5
The hotel was very convenient to Syracuse University. Walking distance (about 10 minutes). It was a 3 star type place with very few amenities. If you just need a place for a day or so to visit a college student it works fine. The staff was very slow - while friendly - very slow. They lock doors at 8:00 which isn't convenient for door dash deliveries and they don't have room service. Night check-in person was a bit rude as reported by my spouse. It's as I rate a 2-3 on a scale of 5 kind of hotel. It definitely needs a refurbishment - old carpet, old everything.
- 5/5
Excellent
- 5/5
Very clean! Great location!
- 3/5
It's fine for a quick stay near the University. Probably more options for food when school is not closed for the summer. Quick cab/ride share to downtown where there are a lot of dining options.
- 4/5
Nothing fancy and minimal breakfast menu, but clean rooms and comfortable beds. Perfect for Syracuse visits since only a 5 min walk to campus.
- 5/5
Excellent property!!!
- 5/5
Clean, walking distance to Syracuse, easy to find

Great room. Comfortable bed. Close to the colleges. I would definitely stay here again.

The staff at both the front desk, bar/restaurant were excellent. Our room was clean. We were happy with the ease of parking. Room service was great! We will stay again if in the area!!

I loved how it was a maze to get to the room. Cozy save feeling
- 4/5
Nice rooms and convenient location but few amenities

I recently stayed at the Hilton while visiting my daughter at college, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. Upon arrival, the front desk staff was shockingly rude. The room I was given (#243) was extremely disappointing. Although it was on the second floor, it felt like a basement—the only window was high up and let in almost no light. It felt more like a dungeon than a $250 per night hotel room and looked nothing like what was shown on Expedia. I politely asked if I could be moved to another room that matched what I booked. The front desk lady bluntly said, “No, this is your room,” and told me it was my problem for using a third party. She told me to complain to Expedia and said they were fully booked, though her tone made it clear she had no intention of helping me even if there were other rooms. I felt uncomfortable, especially in front of my daughter. I had hoped this would be a special visit—not one where we felt like a burden. During the stay, she ignored us completely—no greetings, no eye contact. At checkout, she acted cold again. I asked for a receipt due to breakfast charges, and she said it would be emailed, refusing to show me my charges. I still haven’t received it. I felt unwelcome, discriminated and dismissed by someone who represents a major hotel chain. The location is perfect for visiting campus, but the staff’s behavior ruined the stay. Hilton needs to do better.

Wonderful, conveniently-located hotel when I’m visiting my kids at Syracuse University.

This was thr perdect place to stay during visit to syracuse. Such a cool vibe, unique space, cozy bar and tasty breakfast
- 5/5
Architecturally interesting boutique hotel retrofitted into an old temple. Rooms are comfortable and have modern renovations and amenities. Parking is adequate and free, and it's about as close as you can stay to Syracuse University.

Great location. Walkable to Syracuse U. Great lobby staff. Beds comfortable. But walls very thin. You can hear everything. One of the nights - some kids were having a party in a room. The staff did break it up - but the noise was loud from 10-11pm. Otherwise a great stay. Free parking also a perk!
- 5/5
We stayed while touring the college campus. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Rooms are clean and comfortable and campus is a short walk.
- 5/5
Parking was easy. The hotel was nice. Walls are thin and we could hear the conversation of the people in the room next to us. It’s near the university so that was nice. The restaurants around campus are just Ok; nothing great, just OK. The staff was really nice. The coffee and tea in the morning was a nice touch. Definitely recommend this hotel.
- 4/5
Hotel was fine for one night stay. Room was serviceable but floor was squeaky and walls were thin.
- 5/5
This hotel is structurally unique, with much character! The staff were super friendly & helpful! Our room was clean & cozy! I wish we had had more time to explore the surrounding area, especially the SU campus! Very happy with our stay at the Hotel Skylar Syracuse Tapestry Collection by Hilton! We would definitely book here again!

just perfect. Staff were super friendly and helpful.

Walking distance to Syracuse University campus, which is great. Hotel staff were friendly. The hotel itself is a bit run-down. The room was dark and drab. The in-room mini fridge didn’t work.

Unable to sleep during our stay. The floors were extremely creaky. Poor sound insulation.

Stayed at two other hotels in the area and they weremediocre at best. This hotel is well-maintained and centrally located. I’ve only just arrived but so far so good.

- 5/5
beautiful hotel but not enough amenities. Perfect place to stay for 1-2 days
- 4/5
Close to the university, easy in and out
- 5/5
Only 3 blocks from the husband was in. Quiet with off street parking
- 5/5
Hotel was great. Very unique. For a Jr Suite, however, the bathroom was surprisingly on the small side. The lack of a coffee maker in the room was also not expected. The hotel is also outside of walking distance to good restaurants and bars. The area felt very safe, being central to the university hospital area.
- 5/5
Maybe we caught Syracuse in a lull, but the hotel was eerily quiet. I didn't see another soul in the joint. At first I drove passed the place, because it didn't look like a hotel, and the main entrance is tucked around the side. The staff were wonderful, and the room was clean and comfy.
- 4/5
Good experience at this hotel. Onsite restaurant would be appreciated. The only negative was that due to unforeseen circumstances I could not book an extra night and had to move to another hotel.
- 4/5
Always convenient. Staff is lovely. Did not love the room this time. It was basically in the lobby.
- 5/5
Nice location and very well run.
- 2/5
Hard to tell where front entrance is, it’s not the main doors and then walked right past the real entrance. Room was weirdly too close to the lobby. The floors squeak, hard to go in and out without the whole place knowing. The window was right where the entrance doors are which did not feel like there was privacy or quiet. The bed was kinda dirty but I was there such a short time and busy I didn’t have time to complain so I slept on the other side which hopefully was cleaner. Just a weird place.
- 5/5
Excellent room with nice amenities in the lobby.
- 5/5
I had a quick visit to Syracuse University and the hotel was in a good place. I could walk to campus. I enjoyed the amenities and will definitely visit again.
- 5/5

- 5/5
This hotel is an old favorite of ours.
- 5/5
Everything was excellent. Only issue was with the pillows. They were too high and gave us stiffness in the neck and pain.
- 5/5
Not crowded. Beautiful lobby. Great location.
- 5/5
The staff was so friendly and helpful! We will definitely be back and will choose here to stay
- 4/5

You cancelled my booking- My itinerary 72770839686822 which was confirmed was canceled by your system. And I had to cancel the entire trip. Check with the hotel you all messed up. Never again!!
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel basically on campus. Highly recommend!
- 4/5
Nice hotel next to SU. Great for college tour. 2 story loft unit! Walkable to admissions office. Great staff!
- 5/5
Great location close to Syracuse University. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and the staff friendly. We had a great stay.
- 5/5
Hotel was great walking distance to campus and was clean. Zero smoke or musty odors.
- 1/5
Two years ago, I booked a hotel here. Due to the negligence of the hotel management, my credit card was deducted twice. I tried to contact the hotel to deal with this matter, but their service attitude was extremely poor and all kinds of blame shirking. Please don't stay here if you don't want any trouble
- 5/5
A really great place, and very unique! I was just traveling through, and was just going to stay off the interstate, but I'm very happy I got off the road a bit more and stayed downtown, because I had such a pleasant time at this place, and downtown has a lot to offer.
