Open air balcony to rooms instead of closed hallway was nice in June. Not sure how it is in Winter. Very clean rooms, good size fridge with working freezer, room temp controls work as desired. Very pleasant and helpful staff. breakfast offerings were just right. Good location and best price in town. Would stay here again and ask for Millie at the front desk.

The room was very clean. But the property itself is outdated he needs an update on lots of things and they need to be repairs done very poor conditions.

It was close to where I needed to go; if you're willing bto walk 10 minutes to Downtown Syracuse it's very good value.

This motel is safe and very well maintained by attentive staff (owners). The immediate surrounding area is fine and only a few short blocks from downtown Syracuse. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and amenities that all function well. I have stayed at the Crown Pointe multiple times.

Was surprised at how clean and well maintained the Clarion was. For the price point was expecting a moderately functional facility with dingy rooms but was extremely pleased to find a scrupulously clean bathroom and bedroom, pleasant staff, and a decent continental breakfast in the small but tidy lobby. They even gave me a complimentary full-sized bottle of wine at check-in! Will definitely stay here again!

Clean friendly and perfect location to the hospital where I was having a procedure done

The directions to my room weren’t super clear, but I found it. This place is one of those where the rooms are off the decks, and the decks are outside. So the room doors lead right to the outside. That means noise levels can be a little high. The room itself was clean, no insects, and the bed was the usual queen bed with lots of pillows. The bathroom was very clean, and there was adequate lighting. I wasn’t thrilled with the curtains, though because they aren’t light-blocking. I had to use hair claw clips to keep the shades closed. The outer layer are decorations, they don’t close. The advertisement said there are vending machines. There aren’t. Down in the main lobby, there is a breakfast buffet with chips and candy with a drink cooler. The clerk did let me grab what I wanted and I just paid him. It was fine but the website mentions vending machines. I think because of the proximity to the hospital I would stay here again, but I didn’t feel super safe because of the fact that the doors lead outside. However the upper floors are card access, so it should be secure enough.

The day I checked out which was 11am, I had about 30min until 11am and the cleaning staff knocked on the door I told them I will be done at 11am to check out, the maid remained in the doorway, expecting me to leave. I had to say it again I will be leaving at 11am when it is time to check out.

The best part of this stay was the receptionist Mili. She qent over, above and betond to be helpful a s acxlmmodate requeats It was way too pricey for the amenities available - curious if it's like that all year round or just when it's Syracuae Uni graduation weekend.

Great price, very clean and well-maintained. Simple but perfect for what we needed.

If hotels want great reviews it isn't rocket science. One thing you can't do is run the hotel like it's not a full-time job. I think that is what is lacking here. Too many simple fixes with a little effort to critique.

Easy to get to, breakfast out early, but bathroom sink was covered in toothpastebetc, and desk had food stuck to the front of it. Left only one towel and for two people, but staff were really nice and helpful.

Horrible neighbor. I checked into the hotel at 4pm to my surprise the hotel was old and out dated and a dirty appearance.lobby reeked of cigarettes, the breakfast food was displayed in the eating area day before. My room smelled of cigarettes and the AC did not work. HORRIBLE.

This was the absolute worst experience! I was not expecting perfect but clean would have been nice. My husband and I arrived around 830pm we chose this hotel last minute because my husband was scheduled for surgery this morning at the hospital near by. You are not able to walk in the lobby you need to be buzzed in by the attendant ok I get it crazy world this gentleman wasn't bad checked went to room like I said all I need was clean and close to hospital. Super sketchy outdoor corridor to a an even sketchier elevator. Then the room, small not horrible at first glance we were good. Dropped our bags went for dinner. When we returned wind blowing under 20 degrees out we go ring bell again to gain access to hotel this time older man working the lobby, well what do you want? We would like to go to our room!!! Showed him our room key through the door . Nope would not let us in!!!! Made us walk back down the parking lot to another exterior door to gain entrance. My husband was furious I told him calm down no big deal laughed it off. We went back to the room....where we are supposed to have WiFi and television....husband jumps in shower I try to turn on tv., tablet, phone WiFi doesn't work tv what a joke. Still not a huge deal. Husband gets out of shower I'm getting ready to take mine and my husband pulls the blankets back on the bed and there was BLOOD!!! Not murder seen blood but someone's blood that did not belong to me or him! We call the front desk to let them know about the

The room was small but clean and perfect for one traveler. Staff was friendly and helpful. WiFi was easy to sign on and reliable. The room and bathroom looked newly remodeled. The only complaint I have is on my last night there was no parking available but the staff was able to assist. Overall I would stay here again.

This is a motel not a hotel. They have done everything they can to make customers feel like a hotel. But it is an old building and all hallways are open air.

For the negatives: 1. It is very old, the hotel itself, room furniture, etc. 2. The pictures are deceiving from the website, it is not new looking in any aspect. 3. Room access is outdoors only, like a motel. I either overlooked that, or they had some clever photography hiding that fact !!! 4. The “breakfast”, touted as excellent, etc, did not appear appetizing at all, burnt what looked like turkey bacon, and 1 container of unappetizing eggs and hash browns, and bread in a container that stays out all day; not sure how that could remain “fresh”. 5. Staff that is not very polite, to the point of not even speaking back when you say “hi” to them. If it was not a hassle to fight with Expedia for a prepaid registration, I would have cancelled my reservation immediately upon walking into the lobby. I will never stay there again and do not recommend it.

This hotel fit our needs for a quick stay overnight. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and quiet.

This property was subpar. Beds very very soft and warn, heater in room very loud, toilet filling and emptying all night, smoke alarm blinking a bright light all night, traffic noise constantly. The breakfast looked completely inedible, did not even attempt. If you are looking for a quick overnight stay and noise and super warn beds don’t bother you, than you’ll be fine.

Well-renovated two-story motel in tired neighborhood in Syracuse city featured welcoming/courteous reception staff, an absolutely clean/comfy room, and reasonable fee. Unfortunate crack in newish step-in shower floor didn’t deter our stay, but needs repair. Comfortable bed, responsive HVAC. Convenient access from highways. Quiet area. Exterior needs refreshing upgrade to match the excellent interior upgrade.

The property is in an excellent location, between the airport and Syracuse University. It took us about the same amount of time to get everywhere we needed to go. Rideshares found it easily. Unfortunately, other guests were loud in the afternoon and late into the evening. Smoke seeped into our room from whatever neighbors were smoking various substances. Make sure you note 454 JAMES, not E James. Front desk was always friendly and helpful. Bed was comfy. Room was a bit small but it worked for us.

The clerk has access to cameras covering the parking lot and entrances, so I felt secure. You can’t get to the hallways without your room key, so we didn’t have to worry about strangers coming to our door. We arrived at night & I was surprised how close the hotel is to the highway. However, we couldn’t hear ANYTHING as far as traffic goes. I didn’t really feel like the area was unsafe. I didn’t really see any concerning behavior or characters hanging around. Our room was very clean, modern, and comfortable. It was a very good experience, if I am being honest.

Great for a one night stay. The staff was very friendly. We appreciated the included breakfast. Not a ton of variety or freshness, but was free and helped us save from spending on another meal. The room was moderately clean. The tub was a bit dusty and the carpet made our socks brown, but the surfaces and bed were clean. I was worried about parking looking at some other reviews, but we didn't have any troubles finding a spot. The lot was full when we came back from our event later on though. The rooms open to outside but there is a locked breezeway and you need a hotel key card to get in, so it felt secure.

This property is more of a motel. This was definitely not stated in the hotels.com listing. Would have never booked it if I knew this in advance. All room entrances are exterior, outdoor access only. Granted, you have to gain entrance through a locked door...but when loitering homeless, drunk men (clearly high on something) stand outside smoking cigarette after cigarette, stumbling and falling to the curb....waiting for someone to open the door to gain access to the stairwell, was truly disturbing. Following our return from dinner, my daughter and I sat in the car for almost an hour, too afraid to go back up to the room. Bed was comfortable enough, but once we got settled, we noticed little flying bugs and multiple flies in our room. Bathroom towels were mismatched and quite old and crunchy. Breakfast was included in our stay but we couldn't leave fast enough.

The service is great. You can tell they’re putting a lot of work into the inside/rooms. I would recommend for a low budget individual/couple. I went with young children and the area isn’t great (not the motels fault). A lot of outside noise, outside the rooms reeked of smoke. The rooms themselves were just fine. The customer service was good star, great!

The room was clean and very comfortable. No issue with room as it is clear they do a very good job with them. The bed was comfortable and bathroom very clean. I can see that they are trying very hard with updated parking lot, plenty of lighting in parking area, safety features of locked doors to exterior entrances with key code access only. The price was good for what I got and staff was attentive when I raised an issue.

Located in a terrible neighborhood with multiple homeless people outside, the room was dirty and the tv wouldn't work. The front desk was zero help when asking multiple times and I finally had to move a very large desk, fridge area to find out the electrical cords were not plugged into the tv. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Staff was GREAT. No knock on the area around the hotel but there is nothing to do walking distance. However I liked the hotel and staff. I will stay again in the future. JUST PLEASE CHANGE YOUR TV SERVICE PROVIDER. We couldn’t watch tv because of no service and/or glitches.

In town for the New York State Fair and this was a great convenient option. Very friendly staff and a good free breakfast. Lots of options such as waffles, eggs, sausage, hash browns and breads. Coffee could be a bit stronger. Free wifi. The rooms are clean and efficient with a microwave and mini fridge. The room had more than 1 roll of toilet paper which a family appreciates. The bathroom has a vent and nightlight. The free parking lot is secure and also hidden from the street. The DirectTV is a bit tricky to figure it out but it has a good selection of channels for kids. Also, you can cast your own videos from a mobile phone. On this trip, I accidentally left a personal belonging behind and the staff was very helpful. We will stay again the next time we attend the fair.

Recent two night stay here. Located outside the Clinton Square area so within walking distance of the bus hub. Area not the bead hotel has a motel feel with small reception and breakfast bar area. Room itself was a decent size and bathroom functional. Lovely lady at reception who could not have been more helpful. Will be back in Syracuse and would definitely stay here again.

The original reservation was for the wrong night but the hotel staff was able to help contact hotels.com to receive a refund and rebook for that night. The Clarion went above and beyond to help with the rebooking. Cannot thank them enough!!

Got there at 9:35, front desk said "Breakfast closes at 9, I just cleared it off at 9:30" I mentioned this to the Hotel after via Expedia messages and they appear to have changed it on Expedia now as well. Of course that doesn't negate the $20 I had to spend getting breakfast elsewhere.

My stay was for 1 week. Despite having the “make up room” sign out EVERY DAY, three different times I had to request the garbage be removed from my room and for clean towels and wash cloths. My sheets were only changed one time, and that’s because I went to the desk and demanded they be changed. The management really needs to do better.

The flies were also unpleasant and annoying. It was in my room and the washroom and breakfast bar area. I actually saw the flies on the bagel. The bed was lovely and the room was tidy, so that was good.

This was a perfect overnight stay while visiting a local college with my son. We were minutes away. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and personable which which just added a positive vibe to the visit. The room was huge, clean, modern and newly renovated. Thank you!

Limited parking for the hotel capacity but the real issue is the area around and near the hotel is run down and unsafe due to the sketchy people and buildings,i got hustled for money just trying to walk down the street and also To the right of the main entrance to the hotel is an abandoned lot with large piles of broken glass and down fence right next to the sidewalk, again the hotel is fine but the area is not ok !

You can barely fit in the room and there are no weights…just really large machines that have super limited functionality. The water bubbler in the fitness center didn’t work. God forbid if you wanted to do any work on the floor. The outside access was super quirky - one door didn’t work and the other was hit or miss. Hallways and staircases were pretty dirty.

The room was my issue ...The curtains were either moldy or filthy which was a bad first impression was also not happy they did not make the bed after I returned from meeting and was told we had to ask...wish I was told that at the beginning when arriving. Breakfast was fine ...but nobody was refilling tea or the coffee mates ect so we did without.. So 6/10

We needed something close to Upstate Medical Center and this worked well for us. Our room was clean and pleasant, the staff were helpful, and the breakfast was satisfying.

Very friendly staff, especially the woman at the front desk

The property was fine and our room was clean. But if you need working internet (I was trying to work) this is not the place to stay. It constantly went in and out and did not ever have a strong signal. The front desk worker was super helpful and even let me go to several rooms to see if I could get a stronger signal which I did move to but it still was unstable and I had to end up hotspotting to my phone most of the time. So if this is requirement for your stay I would find a place with better connection. Also, the housekeeping skipped our room most of the stay even though I had verified they would be coming. I had to call each day and verify and even in doing that and being assured they would service the room that day they still did not come. The front desk was great and property is maintained but the internet was a definite issue for me bc I needed to work on this trip.

During my stay, I found that the bed was not properly cleaned; upon inspection, I discovered a piece of hair on it. I also checked the bathroom and noticed a few stains, one of which appeared to be blood. I spoke with the front desk clerk, who kindly offered another room. However, given the issues I found during my initial inspection, my anxiety level was too high for me to feel comfortable or expect to get a good night’s sleep.

The Staff was nice, however the Hotel is in need of renovations, large gaps in the doors, allowed fruit flies and other bugs to enter the room. This was not an "inside" hotel. I chose this hotel because it was close to Syracuse University.

Overall above average. Check was smooth and friendly staff. I did notice there was a fly in my room and in lobby. Morning staff wasn’t as friendly they were barely awake. There were too many maintenance issues. The entrance to the facility near my room was busted and I had to enter from the main entrance each time. The lobby was dark, dingy and uninviting. The room was stuffy and the toilet & air duct in the bathroom had to be repaired. The breakfast was scarce. For example, of the 3 small containers of hot options, I had to wait for the eggs to defrost before they could be prepared and made available. As a result, my best options was a toasted bagel.

Positives: Great, secure, accessible location. Comfortable and beautiful room. Areas of Improvement: Hotels.com indicated that a free bottle of wine would be provided upon check in based on my membership level but that did not happen. Breakfast in the morning was ok, not everything was displayed or available and some of the pastries tasted stale.

No complaints -- the variety of breakfast items was a welcome addition to the clean and comfortable room and bath. Would stay again -- The front desk person, Mili, was most welcoming and helpful. She really made me feel at home, from the first night and throughout the stay.

Old property, bad location,no ammenities

We had a fabulous stay. The location is very close to everything downtown. We did not try the breakfast but we went to Rise and Shine diner and it was absolutely amazing. I absolutely loved the full length mirror that hid the closet.

Overall great hotel for us for the night.

I stayed here because its 0.5mi from syracuse half marathon startline. I was able to walk easily from hotel to start line of the race. Room was clean and quiet. Staff friendly, professional and accomodating. Nice simple continental breakfast. Parking was easy. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for runners coming out of town to run the syracuse half marathon!

A nice and Clean Motel The parking lot is small and the neighborhood is a bit sketchy. The front desk people were nice and attentive.

Stayed here for a single night. The heat hadn’t been set for our room so it was freezing upon arrival. We had requested another blanket and it was never brought. Bed was comfortable and room was otherwise nice.

Great stay. Really clean and updated rooms. Customer service was awesome!

Great new hotel friendly staff

The property is fine - very average. Staff was friendly and super helpful which is always a plus. The front door being locked all the time and needing to be buzzed in - not so great feeling. Breakfast was very basic, a small step above a true continental. Things weren't all labeled which was a bit confusing - esp. coffee urns.

The staff was kind and accommodating. The place was kinda dirty.
