Studio City Court Yard Hotel

I get a call about an hour before check-in to tell me the room they had for me had a plumbing/sewage issue and they could give me two rooms with one king bed each instead. Over the phone, it was challenging to understand what they were offering. I couldn’t tell if the rooms were adjoining or two separate rooms. With just my wife, my nine year old and I, I’d prefer one room but I figured I’d wait and see the situation first before getting too annoyed. I asked what the alternative was and he said the room with the sewage issue was our alternative. They kept using the word “upgrade” to describe what they were doing, but it sounded like an inconvenience to me if I truly was accepted two separate rooms. I accepted the two rooms (my mistake) because I knew it would be challenging for me to find a different hotel on such late notice anyway. Like I thought, it was an inconvenience. My wife used one room

It wasn’t bad, we ultimately just wanted a place to sleep at night and get ready. Free parking would be great but it was $13/night if you don’t book directly with them. Parking is tight so good luck if you have a big vehicle! It’s within walking distance of places to eat and shop. The bathroom is totally dated, the shower hardly worked. The a/c worked well. There’s a pool, never saw anyone using it. The staff at front desk were fine.

the room itself was dirty. there was a blood stain hand print on the bathroom door. Writing all over the mirrors. When turning the shower on brown filthy water came out. All night long women of the night were sitting outside talking loudly keeping guests awake, and when they had a client they woke everyone up as well

The rooms were just as they were described when I reserved online. Plenty of room and bed space for us all. Courtyard was nice, simple , and inviting with a propane fire pit. Rooms were clean and ready for guests. The staff was professional, courteous and helpful with my needs. Definitely a 5 star rating from me

Room was very worn out with a weird smell. The bed sheets were not clean full of lint. Restroom was ok until I checked the shower which had some green liquid. Extremely uncomfortable beds and pillows. We cut our stay short and decided to drive home in traffic for 3hrs instead of staying the second night.

Furniture was old and marked up. Mattress was King size but needs to be updated to memory foam or better. Bathroom/shower was updated. Very good. The pool water was very cold - a little pool HEAT would help. Location to Radford Studios was perfect. Close to a RALPH supermarket which helped.

The property is old, outdated, dirty, run down, dusty and had a funny smell. Oh and did I mention the black mold growing in the shower and the chipped furniture? Do not stay here. Thank you Expedia for expediting the refund.

The room was not like advertised on the app. There was dust bunnies all over the floor, all of the towels had stains on them, the middle blanket on one bed had someone else's hair stuck to it, there was burn marks on the bathroom counter and bathtub.

The general manager and his staff were really good. They were accommodating. They gave me a game plan for the area I would definitely go back

This is an outdated facility but kept very clean and staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Location was good (ten minutes from Universal Studios) and my family of four had a very pleasant stay. The kids enjoyed the pool (no hot tub) and we felt safe and relaxed while there. If you’re looking for affordable with no frills but everything you need, this was good. There is a basic continental breakfast bar. Only suggestion is to add tea bags and/or juice to the breakfast bar.

The room smelled like urine, couldn't use AC because it made the urine smell worse. The same night we arrived tired from the 8 hour drive with wife and kids, I had to request room change. We got moved to another room we're the urine smell was less intense as long as we didn't run the AC. we were supposed stay for 3 nights but only stayed two. They promised me a refund, but lied. We had stayed there in the past and it wasn't that bad.

In four days I was there, no one ever cleaned the room, emptied the waste baskets or changed any towels or sheets. This hotel, which is essentially a motel, charged for parking every day, which was ridiculous. There was ample parking and not in an area where parking weas at premium. The keys to the room - slide in cards - didn't work more than half the time I used them. I wonder though if you all really read these reviews and care. This is the second very substandard room I have booked through HOtels.com and reported back on - the first being a real craphole in Westborough MA. I have used hotels.com for many years. But unless I hear back from you with some kind of acknowledgement or credit, I probably won't reserve through you again and will not recommend hotels.com to friends and colleagues, of which I have many. - Michael Zeytoonian

Make sure to scroll through all the pictures. I booked a regular room with 2 queen beds. The room itself was okay but the bathroom was from the 80s...not the updated nice looking white bathroom in the first 30 pics or so. Which means it was kind of falling apart. Tile cracking and the towel holder barely holding on. Alao the road noise was quite loud. We had to leave the ac on to drown out the noise. The pool was nice and clean and the staff was friendly.

Property was in ok conditions, or room had garbage from i dont know when. When i turned on shower faucet the water came out light brown then turned clear. While we were spending time in pool, there was a group of girls blow drying and straightening their hair outside office. Then there were others smoking weed by pool, that ended our pool time short. Staff was very friendly but i definitely think there should be safer guidelines the staff follows.

The guy who works on the night shift was so rude. I was talking to him asking for a copy of my receipt and he kept rolling his eyes saying that it was property of the hotel and I couldn’t get a copy. The air conditioning was not working in our room and it was HOT. also, our shower was shooting water from the faucet and the shower head. It made you literally have to shower in 5 minutes because the tub was filling and filling fast. I will not be staying here again.

My kids and i stayed for two days here to visit Universal Studios. The front desk person Juan is very nice and accommodating and attentive. As well as Jessy. We stayed on first floor unfortunately the room on top of was was very loud. We couldn't sleep at all. Overall this is a decent place to stay particularly if you have children and your budget is tight.

This was the worst hotel I’ve ever reserved. The room was filthy no air conditioning broken up items in the room. We couldn’t check in when we arrived. We were told nothing was available. When we finally got the room I immediately got sick in the stomach because of the mold smell. Walls were filthy. The closet hangers were broken. They need to take the pictures down off the website because that’s false advertising. I can’t believe they’re allowed to rent rooms to anyone with the filth that we experienced. We checked our immediately and went to another hotel

The room was clean but the bathroom faucet only worked on the cold water side same with the shower. The bath tub had green soap in it Never used the shower so that tells me they did not clean the shower. Curtains were broken so could barely close it open them. Said something to the night guy and the gal in the morning but did not really get any kind of response from them.

First and foremost, the staff was extremely friendly. Our check-in was great. The location was easy to find and there are plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area.Overall, this place was not impressive. The walls were paper thin when taking a shower if somebody below turned the water on you got an extreme hot or cold burst of water. You can tell a lot of the furniture and the carpentry work was not the best. My family left early one morning to go to Universal Studios and when we returned home later that evening, somehow our door had been unlocked the manager said he checked the video footage and could not figure out how the door unlocked. We were very lucky that none of our items were stolen, but just knowing that the door was open the entire day is enough for me to not return to this location

The pictures to this hotel made it look decent. Their lobby smells HORRIBLE!! Like if the staff their smoke inside, I didn't let my kids go near the check in area. This place need some remodeling. The bathroom door wouldn't open, so once I got it to open I told my kids to leave it open if they needed to use it. If you have small kids I don't recommend you to book this hotel.

Hotel room has no amenities very plain but clean . They charge $13 a night to park and also charged $150 on card for incidentals for 2 nights which is more than a full service hotel holds .

The room was very noisy, especially in the morning with the maids rolling their gigantic carts up and down the hall outside our bedroom.

Theybwere nice but not sure what they could have done. The locks on almost every window were broken. So quitenkiterally, anyone could have walked into big alidding window... and the screens were bent so it looked like it had happened. Asked for another room, same. Yet another, the same. I had been driving for an entire day and was so exhausted, I just gave up and riggedbup braces with coat hangers and plastic watter bottles, etc. Terrible night's sleep. I have video and pics.

The parking lot seemed on the smaller size, but there were a lot of open spots, and lit pretty well. There is a lot of food options near by and the area was very close to where we needed to go. I thought the area was pretty quiet, and I would stay here again.

whenever I’m in the LA area, I like to stay there it’s extremely convenient. They have parking. The lampshade may be broken and things are not necessarily new but it’s clean. The staff is friendly and the price is great.

The room needed to be refreshed but the staff was nice. It was an easy walk to various restaurants and stores. Very quiet too

Only issue with the whole trip was the rooms quality, over all it was clean the only issues we had was the bathroom, it was leaking water from the shower handle, the tiles were cracked and some repairs were made but the quality was not wat expected, toilet seat was loose and the floor in the shower was lifting up, the curtains in the second room were torn up and did not cover the window so people were able to see inside, but over all with the spot it was at and the repairs that have been done to it, we would stay again if those issues were taken care of for the price it was it’s ok.

Oh dear. Well. I am not that picky about hotels, honestly, but you guys, this place is not it. Don't even bother. The people are nice and they are trying, but their hotel is falling apart. I could deal with the cracked floors and stained walls, after all, you are not buying the place, but - after I had checked in and unpacked, I realised the door keys did not work, in fact, the whole key section was broken, so I needed to switch rooms. The new room's key cards worked, but, sigh, where to begin. First, the room had a window without a curtain or anything that was unnerving and being a woman I was not ok with this. The front desk provided me with paper and tape so I could tape up the window, but come on. Splurge a little and put some curtains up so taping paper to the glass is not necessary. Now let's get to the shower. I literally had to let the water run 10 minutes or more to get any hot water and even then it barely trickled out, no water pressure at all. Such a waste of water, especially in this city. I did not get a proper shower once, but I honestly did not feel like switching rooms again. It was cold in LA the week I was there and I used the heat in the room at night. The knob was loose and fell off in my hand a few times. The whole unit needed to be replaced, but again, I didn't feel like changing rooms. It did get the room warm though. So that's it. If you stay here it's honestly at your own peril. I would not go back, sorry.

First room wasn’t even cleaned from the previous guest. Second room was filthy, tub was yellow brown and the whole room stunk bad!! Third room was “clean” but the tub was still yellow and brown. Curtains had holes in them, the bedding had lint from previous guests (we took our own bedding and pillows. Room stunk, I’ve apologized to my kids many times for this stay. They convinced me on staying and not getting a different hotel saying it was ok while I was in tears. During our stay we didn’t get to shower because of the tub conditions. Second night there was loud men talking waking us up when I look outside they looked like homeless people, when I called the front desk about this the Indian man at the front desk Was upset screaming at me bothered by my call. Moments later car alarms in the property started going off. I rushed outside scared to check on our vehicle. Now that we are home our pillows bedding blanks cloths bags everything has that stunk the hotel had! I’m washing everything even threw away some items because of the smell. I booked this hotel because of the reviews, location and photos online! It’s all false advertisement DO NOT stay here if you have children, this is a motel not hotel! People staying here look very sketchy. I’m so upset and disappointed I’ve never experienced anything like this. Hotels.com needs to do more research about properties they offer. Like I mentioned this is a Motel not Hotel!!

We had very comfortable stay at Studio city court yard hotel. Location is the best with surrounding so many food place and big grocery store. Universal park visitor can overnight stay here and save some money. Anthony helped us and give us many tips to schedule the universal trip. No complaints about cleanliness. Only thing I could say it’s old property but gated and very reasonable parking fees.

Most of the pictures are not of the actual rooms. The room was not just not what was pictured it wasn’t even just average it was downright scary inside, I am talking the bathroom countertops looked like a bad public restroom with stuff scratched into them, the tile was all broken and the electrical was run simply behind the wall paper on the walls. Nothing was really sparkly clean… the pillows were throw pillows. On top of this, it was insanely noisy all night with people on both sides, street side and in front of the room. There was a lady in the office during the evening for at least an hour and a half loitering in some sort of verbal disagreement it looked like with the front desk clerk who seemed unamused and also ambivalent to the situation while she SMOKED actively inside the lobby. There were clearly other people who were equally tricked like we were that you could tell were similarly out of place at this property but everything else surrounding it was very unnerving. Cars in the parking lot that looked like they were being lived in kind of stuff. The list of goes on and on.,. This property looks like it had a very troubled past and uncertain state and future.

Property needs a lot of renovations. You can hear the street noise, the neighbors, people coming in and out of the rooms, kept us up all night. Walls are very thin you can hear peoples conversations as if they were in the room. Bathroom was dirty. The pictures look very different from the actual hotel. It is a low price hotel but not worth the stay. I don’t recommend this place.

The room was clean but very dated, needing to be refurbished and brought up to better standards. The bed was comfortable; the bathroom had been redone and as such was the most pleasant part of the suite. The room suffered from being too close to the road and traffic noise was a constant irritation.

There was not really a kitchen or kitchenette and the picture of the room I booked had both, a full refrigerator and stove, this room had a microwave, coffee maker and small little refrigerator. I really didn't need the microwave, so it wasn't a hindrance, I would just verify what your room claims to have with the management before booking. the room was decent and clean, the bathroom as well, although the bathroom could use a remodel, it's older and the surfaces worn. It served my purposes for a good night's comfortable sleep.

Check in was easy, quick & accommodated an early check in. Clean, quiet room with fridge, microwave & coffee machine. Free coffee, pastries, yogurt & oranges from 7a-10a at the front desk. Parking reasonable priced $13 & was very close to our room. Walking distance to grocery store Ralphs, eating options & upscale coffee Alfreds. Overnight assistance was helpful & efficient at 1:30a after returning from Universal Studios. Beds & linens were fresh & very comfortable. Easy route to Universal Studios. Great price, comfortable, safe & clean. Highly recommend.

The parking areas are so limited. The property is outdated. Staff is very friendly. The pictures that they show on Expedia are so different than what you get.

Clean room nice staff

We checked in really late , the guy at front desk was very nice considering he was dealing with multiple complaints at the time we were checking in. When we got to the room it was nothing like the pictures posted on here: the room was smaller, no sofa as pictured. We noticed Live and dead Bugs in the sink, in the tub coming out of fixtures and mixed in with what was supposed to be clean towels. The water would not get hot after running for at least a minute, water pressure was low in the sink (didn’t try bathtub) Had Black mold in the bathroom and on ceilings.the light fixtures were old and the light bulbs looked like they were about to fall out. The room was dirty, musty smell, stains on bed linens and chairs. Requested a different room, he switched us to a single bed room (there were 4 of us) and said that was the only one available, but that room was just as dirty. Because it was so late, he said no cleaning service available, we requested a refund and although he was willing to accommodate he said that since we purchased thru a third party that he could not. Note : there was another customer in front of us who had similar complaints plus was complaining about being billed twice. We ended up leaving and finding another hotel as we believed it was just too unsanitary for us to stay. The outside of the hotel did look ok but it was dark so cannot confirm.

It was small room, compared to the pictures, the tv did not work properly, it was smelly, there was dust and dirt on the floor. The chairs weere stained, as well as the ironing table. The bathroom looked old tile compared to the pictures it showed newer bathrooms. It was noisy because it close to a transited street. Pool had alot of dirt. No breakfast in the am, only coffe and some cheap bread, yougurt. I was specting more accorfing to th reviews..

Honestly I’m more upset that the staff wasn’t willing to give me any kind of assistance a refund of any kind after I showed him the photos of the cockroaches I found in the bathroomroom I drove 6 hour and 375 miles to stay at your hotel. Your hardwood floors where dirty to the point where, every time I would walk barefooted and go to get in the shower at the bottom of the shower was black from the dirt off my feet from walking in the hotel Room! That’s disgusting cause that shows that your staff never cleans the floors that’s not sanitary from all the people that come through there that is very disgusting! I had to throw my toothbrushes And my daughter’s brushes because the roaches were climbing over everything and even through my Daughter’s brushes away because we didn’t know what all the roaches had crawled all over besides me seeing them crawl over my toothbrush. The property was great, parking was about $13, the pool was clean, the pool chairs were comfortable, there were 2 fire pit areas, lots of tables with umbrellas, and 2 water features. The rooms were clean, the bedding was Nice, and the AC worked great. There were a ton of amenities in the room TV, mini fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. In the bathroom, there was a hair dryer, dispensers with soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There was an ice machine next to our room as well as a vending machine.. From 7am-9an there was a continental breakfast of muffins, danishes, yogurt, cuties, and coffee. It was on a main street so there was noise, but there were also lots of coffee, breakfast, and food nearby. We stayed because of its short distance to Universal Studios. The staff was very friendly.

This place has great staff & is close to alot of food spots universal studios is a 14min drive from place. The place does charge a expensive security deposit 150$ for being a out dated place its not worth it. I will never book again the parking spots are super sketchy the place needs work done for the price they charge

1st room I was given smelled like cigarette smoke. Was given a 2nd rm that was very dated. The drains were very slow in the shower and sink. I have stayed there before and that room was great. I guess all of them have not been updated

I liked the hardwood floors in our room, the window in the bathroom, the space in the room. All the appliances worked.

The property and room did not look anything like the website photos or photos in Expedia. Our room was run down, the bathroom was old and dirty, not renovated like the photos. I ended up leaving after the first night and booking another hotel property because it did not feel safe and I felt like this was a bait and switch.

Considering we paid close to 200$ this hotel has no right to be charging this much for what it is

Great location, walking distance to shops and restaurants, very short drive to Universal Studios and Hollywood, and above all excellent value for money.

Honestly perfect place to stay in the valley. Walking distance to everything, great pool, clean rooms. Will be booking here every time I visit!

Clean room staff was helpful

I have been staying at this property for several years now, and I always look forward to returning. It's located close to my work places and appointments, has great dining options nearby and the staff always delivers great start. The rooms are spacious and give me what I need. Looking forward to my next trip.

Conveniently close to most areas that I wanted to go. Although it was clean it wasn't well kept up. the A/C was noisy and not easy to adjust. It did have lots of spaces to store clothing, suitcases, etc.

I had hoped for a proper breakfast though but no biggie. And it would be nice to be able to check out AND get back initially deposited cash at earlier times. But overall, it's a good place to stay.

Noisy property on main road. Crazy people staying there.....found one guest standing in the middle of the street blovking the exit.

Our stay was super short. I cannot say much. I will say it needs a little updating . The room was very spacious.

The staff were top notch. We had a fabulous stay and appreciated the water dispenser in the lobby and the coffee/pastries in the morning.

They gave me a room that had a terrible odor, it still had some sort of air vent equipment to get rid of the odor when we went to the room. I went back to the front desk and i told them that and they apologized and told me they had another room emergency room for me that was clean but they told me it did not have cold water and if i wanted to shower they advised me to take a shower in the other room. I asked for a discount and told me i had to talk to the manager the next day at 10. Not ok will never come back!!!!

This property was a little dated, but it served my purpose. The staff was very friendly. I liked that they offered fresh coffee and breakfast snacks in the morning. I love that there are lots of food options within walking distance of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

We had a room right up front by the driveway. People smoking and talking right outside. You can hear everything. Room is pretty old - holes in the blackout curtains let streams of light thru. Beds are an exception - really comfy!

Great location for families going to Universal Studios.The family suite was spacious and very clean. Minor issues with the water leaking but it wasnt so bad since management was aware. Overall great stay will stay again!

It’s in motel style but with a pool 😂. The property seems nice, but it’s ancient. The area is safe and has many dining options, but the traffic sounds can be loud.

When I got there their credit card reader wouldn't read my card. They don't have an option to insert the card or use RFID. I only had one card with me, so I had to go find a bank to get cash. This has never happened to me before. I use this card every day at every store I go to. I paid the $150 in cash. When I checked out they wouldn't give my deposit back. No discussion. They said they smelled cigarette smoke. Just wouldn't give it back. I assume the rude clerk at the desk just pocketed the cash.

It was ok. Very quiet. There were a few ants trying to get in. But overall a peaceful and well maintained environment.

The over all room was good. But the room's bathroom door had water damage to it. The bath room itself was very nice. Its just an older hotel. My biggest suggestion is to have the stairwell hand rails sand blasted of all old paint and to recoat them.

Total disappointment for the money paid, don't waste your money.

Very clean, nice staff, nice clean pool, fire pit, and light breakfast items and coffee in the lobby. After leaving my original hotel because it was a dump this place was such a relief! Definitely staying here on my next trip to Cali.

Our room had a small window outside the bathroom that I think should have some type of curtain or blinds since once the sun starts coming up, it bring too much light coming in, and I was trying to sleep in. The air-conditioning unit is making some type of sound weird when it was running.

Some issues we had: 1. Key cards for one of the rooms was not working everytime we unlock the door, had to have them checked a couple times and it was a hassle even though they're open 24/7. 2. One of the room's shower was not draining properly. 3. Pillows in one of the rooms didn't seem like a standard size and felt uncomfortable. Overall, it was a good stay. I'd book again because of the affordable booking price, location and parking.

No hot water. Sink completely plugged, not draining. Staff rude, full of lame excuses, no acknowledgement or apology for plugged with room. $150 deposit for what? Would have been only about $20 more to stay at a beautiful Holiday Inn Express!

It's a little outdated, but still clean, very friendly staff and the coffee and pastries in the morning was very nice to have as a grab and go before we went on our adventure. Front desk made me feel uncomfortable about having a car in the lot for more than 20min, so I had to have driver park in a meter, unload my bags, then walk VERY far to room. Otherwise fine.
