Red Roof Inn Staunton

Found two dirty wash rags in the shower curtain. The soap and shampoo dispensers where empty. Breakfast was not that great. Cereal, Bagels and toast. Coffee wasn't all that good. I won't be staying there again and I travel past there a couple times a year.

The room was very clean and the staff was very friendly.

The hotel is clean and the staff were excellent anf attentive. Our first room smelled really bad but the front desk immediately moved us after it was mentioned. The hotels location is rather sketchy and the continental breakfast wasnot good.

The room was clean but rundown, the staff was friendly, the atmosphere was a bit sketchy,the bed slept well, i wasnt able to get breakfast because i slept past 9am.

Staff was helpful and friendly. The floor was dirty (it looked clean but my feet became dirty immediately upon walking on it). There were stains on the top blanket. The sink handle had what looked like toothpaste residue all over it.

Listen, is it a 5-star, must visit location? No. However, it is clean, quiet, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the proximity to the sights in and around Staunton is perfect. I dig the place.

It's some kind of homeless shelter and very dirty. Bed sheets had cig burns and "stuff" on them. Reeked of marijuana, bugs, flies in room.

The room was filthy — there were layers of dust, cobwebs, a broken soap dispenser, and even a used toilet paper roll left in the bathroom. The sheets were stained and had burn holes, despite this being a non-smoking room. The air smelled like dirty towels and mildew, making it nearly impossible to feel comfortable or clean. To make matters worse, my girlfriend slipped on cat feces near the pool area — absolutely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that advertises cleanliness and hospitality. I contacted management immediately and requested a refund, only to be told that the room was “inspected” and no issues were found — which feels like a complete disregard for everything we experienced. I would strongly advise anyone considering this location to think twice. It’s not just dirty — it’s unsafe, unsanitary, and the management does not take guest concerns seriously.

I had a problem with the wi-fi, but the manager on duty worked on it immediately, and in less than ½ hour, the problem was resolved.

Complete list of fees were not posted. Refused to let us check inn without a $50 pet deposit for my service animal. Manager called me racist when i asked him to slow down his speaking because i couldn't hear him properly because of my auditory processing disorder thats a side effect of my disability. He then told me i was faking my disability and my service animal was against breed restrictions and then they banned me from property when i brought up state laws and regulations about unposted fees and federal ADA Guidelines.

Only issue was the tv quality is not very good.

The property was ill kept overall. Windows, doors, anything glass was dirty and filmy. The room had a terrible smell. It appears there are folks living there for longer stays. There were grills and coolers outside the rooms. My overall impression is this property was scary and seedy. It has soured us on staying at a Red Roof again. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Very happy with our stay! Came with our 2 dogs and it’s in a very nice location away from any other buildings with a nice yard for us to take them out in. Room is very clean ,spacious and updated. We will definitely stay here again if we’re able to.

We were not allowed to check in early and were treated very rudly when told so. There was a huge leak from the sink in our room, created a puddle that even three towels couldn't absorb. The amenities hadn't been refreshed, there was no hand soap. Sheets had significant stains and some tears. We tried to call the front desk to alert them of this but when they answered they didn't actually talk to us and just left us to listen to their conversation with other patrons (who were also complaining).

Room was clean, up todate facility with nice furniture, bedding, towels, etc. Would highy recommend it!

Idk what anyone on here who gave this motel a good rating was thinking. I swear they have to be staff leaving fake reviews because this is absolutely the most disgusting display of a hotel I have ever seen in my life. Upon driving up my family and I were already a bit weary. It just felt off. Once we arrived the front reception looked like he rolled out of bed and fell into work. The room itself was the dirties I’ve ever seen. The ceiling in the bathroom shower was falling down and there was mold everywhere. The beds had stains all over them. The smell of the room was unbearable. You literally could barely breathe because it was so thick with the aroma of cigarette smoke. The car parked in front of the room was broken into and the car radio had been pulled out of the car. We reserved 3 rooms but only looked at one and demanded a refund. There was absolutely no way we were staying there. Luckily we found another place to stay. When we arrived at the Hampton Inn they told us that the Red Roof was like a shelter. That the staff and other people actually live there. They said they don’t even know how that place is still operating. TO ANYONE LOOKING TO LODGE I URGE YOU PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY. No one should stay in these horrible conditions. THIS ESTABLISHMENT SHOULD BE PUT OF BUSINESS. And to management, your apology is unnecessary because you should be absolutely ashamed of yourself for having such little care and concern for your customers!

The beds slept good and was clean. Shower was good although it had a leak and squirts over the shower curtain. We stayed 2 nights. When they cleaned the room after the 1st night, they didn't replenish the coffee. I didn't notice until I got up at 3am. Lobby was closed. So I'm a bear without my coffee 😁. Other than that it was a good stay. Nice view and seen some deer in the field. Recommend.

Absolutely was amazed by how clean and quiet it was. We have been on many trips this yesr and mostly woth Red Roof. This has been the best hotel yet. No wonderers, no weed and cigarette smell. Allows pets but room and property does not smell like pets. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The morning few of the mountains in the distance was breathtaking. Basic breakfast, would have like less carb options. But for the price, tou cant beat any of the stay.

Stayed here for a college reunion. The staff were very nice. Breakfast is provided, but is your basic bagels, toast, and mini muffins, and cereal. The room was decent. There were stains on the comforter, but my friend did a test for bed bugs and there were none, thank goodness. The beds were really comfy. Bathroom is a little dated and could use a good cleaning in the shower walls (tiled). TV was small and very limited in channels. Not a smart TV. Felt safe and cameras are everywhere around the property.

I had a good nights sleep

The room was disgustingly ditrty! I spilled a little water on the floor and (of course) tried to wipe it up and the towel came back filthy! There were 2 beds. My husband and I opted for the second bed because the first bed looked as though it hadn't been washed in a while. We were exhausted from our long drive, and didn't want to waste any further time on changing rooms. The bed was comfortable and we got out of there as soon as we could possibly do so.

Courteous staff, older property showing it's age some. Someone with a sense of humor posted signs on the road leading to property. Made me smile. Overall decent stay. Definitely best price in area. Would stay again.

where to start, mode above soap tray in shower, black mode in sink area, ants on night stand. broken safety lock on entrance door. restaurants miles from the motel. despite being in a quite area there seemed to be a lot of car traffic.

I went to Syracuse, NY for a Graduation that turned into a funeral. I had reservations at Red Roof in Staunton for on the way home. My reservation was for July 1ST. I found out that my Grandson was murdered 6/24, about 2 days later I notified Red Roof that I needed to change my res from 7/1 to 7/3. Manager told me I would need to deal with Hotels.com. With no way to get online and no phone # for Hotels.com, I called Red Roof back and a nice Lady told me she would take care of it, I was relieved. Upon arrival on 7/3, the Manager told me that she lied and I would have to pay again. Since I was running 81 South flat out since 6A:M, my nerves were shot, so I paid another $75.00. When I turned in my key the next day, the young lady that he said had lied was there. I didn't say anything, just got my receipt and left. I just wanted to get home !

Extremely disappointed was charged a $50 dollar cash deposit and my room wasn’t clean but it was dressed as if it was. Called the front desk and they wouldn’t clean the room but of course I checked in at 11:30pm nor was I able to be moved. I even offered to change sheets and clean the room myself so we could shower and sleep they refused and wouldn’t refund or help to find another place to stay last night. The stank of urine , the sheets were black and yellow and the towels were brown and hanging up on towel racks. All the walls and furniture looked and smelled as if someone had urinated all over everything and sticky. The room should’ve never been sold at all

Certainly not convenient! WAY off the beaten path...trouble finding it even with GPS and the signage is terrible. You don't see the signs until you're almost passed it! On a good note it was quiet and the beds were very comfortable. But a little high-priced for what you get.

The room was decent enough. Pillows were half size pillows with no extras in the room. The bathroom could have been cleaner. There was still a sliver of soap in the shower from the previous guest. :(

The room was clean and comfortable but the faucet on the sink leaked and the bathtub took forever to drain! The big thing that bothered us was how dirty the windows in the whole motel were and how dirty the stairways were. They needed a good sweeping!!

Look, through hotels.com and they never remitted the credit card information so it took over an hour to check in and a whole bunch of hassle on my end to fix the situation rather than the two business partners working together to make a good experience for the customer. Don’t stay here absolute garbage.

Close to the thruway. Rooms were very clean and quite. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice and friendly. Price of the room was great. Would definitely stay here again when in the area. Thank you!

We got in late and left early, we needed a place to sleep this served the purpose at a great price. Traveling for Spring Break on a budget :)

Room was disgusting and the bed didnt even have any pillows on it. The comforter had stains on it and stunk. The room smelled like a dog as soon as you came in and when i alerted the front desk i got yelled at and told i had to deal with it. After over charging me too not to mention. I was charged 57 dollars for early check-in to get such a ridiculous stay.

Room had been refreshed and was clean and smelled good. Floor was hard floor , which we liked, but on a rainy day like we had no floor mat to wipe our feet upon arriving with our bags.

As a hotel guest, I would like to be made aware that my room is amongst the resident homeless population…… That was a little unnerving….. and a lot of smokers outside their rooms…. We were tired from a day of family activities, turned the heat up and went to bed, waking up hours later and staying in the cusp of cold for the rest of the night. The pictures I took of the heating/ac unit show a significant buildup of dust while the filters were filthy, with one broken into pieces. Burn holes in the bedspread. An overhead storage rack that is falling off the wall….. The price is right, but you can do better…. P. S. I’ve stayed here several times with passable stays. The staff is friendly and I understand there’s an outdoor pool…. So maybe there are some good things going for it….. But it sure does seem to be sliding in the wrong direction…..

This room looked nothing lijevthe online picture. I took pictures to send my wife. The tub was peeling and looked like it came from the junk yard. The room was old and tattered looking and it reeked of cigarette smoke. The couple in the room next to me were fighting over the conition of the room when tgey arrived. Posting pictures from years ago is misleading and false advertising. I will not stay here again unfortunately.

Love the backside of the property. Lovely valley view. The room was clean in the center of the room. The coffee pot had a layer of dust on it. They floor was dirty left the bottom of my feet black.

Great stay for the price. Big room. Huge bed. Good AC. Very clean inside and outside. No carpet! Breakfast was nothing but cereal and bread. Very disappointing. And I felt the sheets were scratchy but pillows and blanket were good.

The bathroom tub would not drain well and there was no vending machine either. The breakfast was only sliced bread and 1 muffin and we were with another couple so we had no breakfast.

Room was dirty, shower was backwards (turn water towards cold to get hot) the faucet was coming out of the wall, the sink was covered in limescale, blood on towels and sheets/blankets etc... Unexpected pet deposit as well as a pet limit not mentioned at all when booking nor in the fine print. No atm on sight yet require cash for deposit. Housekeeping not attentive. Pool had poop in it and a large hole in the bottom that could easily break an ankle

Paid for a smoking room but was put into a non smoking room. Mold on the ceiling in bathroom, furniture was old cause the drawers in the dress wouldnt even close and there were fruit flies hanging out over the sink and microwave.

Good Budget Hotel, a little out of the way off I-81 with signage to hotel a bit difficult to navigate. GPS directions worked well though. Clean and good good for the weary traveler to get some rest. Pet friendly.

It’s a great please to stay

The bed was wonderful, the most comfortable I've ever found in a motel. The price was a good value in spite of the lack of cleanliness. The front test staff was less than friendly and slow to respond to a help with the TV set-up (wasn't on-line). Didn't use WI-FI, elected to use my hotspot on my phone. Outside the rear area was junky, old cars in various state of repairs.
