Reviews
The hotel is highly praised for its historic charm, cleanliness, and convenient location in downtown Staunton, with easy access to restaurants, shops, and theaters. The staff is consistently commended for their friendliness and helpfulness. However, some guests have noted issues with the rooms, such as lack of a refrigerator, uncomfortable beds, and poor views. Additionally, a few guests have expressed dissatisfaction with the breakfast service and the hotel's amenities, such as the pool and hot tub.

Stayed one night with the dog. Nice, clean dog friendly hotel. Would stay again if passing through
- 5/5
Location!
- 4/5
Room was small but bathroom had large vanity with room to spread out toiletries. Glasses in the room and on the breakfast buffet were dirty. Should have skipped the mediocre breakfast and headed to Beverly street where many options in the open air were available. Coffee had no flavor.
- 5/5
Beautiful clean hotel. Very helpful staff 😊
- 5/5
Older historic building that needs a bit of sprucing up. But absolutely lovely staff, ample breakfast and convenient parking.

Clean nice hotel

Beautiful historic building, tastefully renovated. Nothing

Did not eat there. The location was fabulous. The room was nice. Our GPS could not give us correct location because the street was blocked off,we learned each weekend. It would have been nice to have been notified electronically or on website alternate ways to get there. The desk clerk was aware of this issue for guests! Elevators, parking, etc. could have been more clearly marked. A small map of the downtown area would be a nice amenity. The pool area was awful! The railing on the steps on the left side of the pool was broken off at the bottom of the steps. It was nice to see lifts for those unable to use stairs, but both were rusty, one had a shredded seat belt. We didn’t need it but it made me question if it worked safely. There were puddles of water on the floor surrounding the pool.and the ventilation was poor. It seemed like mold was growing everywhere! Your older guests, including us, would have loved to have help loading and unloading luggage, as well as valet parking. One last thing:a buffet breakfast is fine for those with hearty appetites, but some of us would like to have less filling, healthier options.
- 5/5
Quaint historic property in a great location with friendly helpful staff, clean, well appointed rooms.
- 5/5
Room was small but very clean and well designed. Location is wonderful, right next to the Blackfriars theater and the downtown restaurants and shops. $15 buffet breakfast wasn't spectacular, but the staff was very nice and replenished the dishes and pastries. A shame that parking isn't always free, but because it was a weekend, there was no charge in the garage. All in all, a great place to stay in Staunton.
- 4/5
Overall, the hotel is good. Some rooms could use some updating. The pillows were very lumpy and the tile grout was crumbling. The rooms were clean. The lobby area and lounge were excellent. The location is excellent and within walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants, and bars.

Would definitely stay there again.

The atmosphere was of a grand, vintage hotel. Shops and restaurants nearby. Hotel restaurant breakfast is excellent. Lighting could be improved.
- 3.5/5
Location was perfect After a long day, looked forward to laying in the hot tub, but it did not work during our entire stay. Very disappointed!
- 5/5
Very elegant. Well located in a beautiful town.

This hotel was excellent. Bed was comfortable, the shower hot and staff great. The location is right in the middle of restaurants and shops in downtown Staunton. Parking garage is attached to hotel.

Lovely old historic hotel. Perfect location in the historic district. Wow.
- 5/5
Very nice property with pretty rooms. Dining area with big floor to ceiling windows also quite pleasant. Staff was friendly. Nice place to stay in Staunton! Right next door to Blackfriars Theater, an easy few paces to see a great show and around the corner from old town Staunton, with a lot of great restaurants and shops.
- 4/5
My room was large, clean, with nice sunset view, a large full bathroom with plenty of towels. The bed was comfortable. Sheets were OK. There was a nice size fridge in the room. The hotel is in the dining/shopping district, on the same block and sharing the parking garage with the visitors' center, and The American Shakespeare Center and The Blackfriars Playhouse. I cannot think of a better location in Staunton. The coffee in the lobby was remarkably good, well worth noting. Guests were nice. I highly recommend the hotel, I will definitely return.
- 3/5
The staff and the hotel was very nice. The only bad thing I have to say was my room smelled like cigarette smoke and I'm not sure why.
- 5/5
Breakfast was outstanding. Room was clean
- 4.5/5

This is our go-to hotel when we travel back & forth. We love the charm of this hotel & enjoy walking to the nearby restaurants.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful 100 year-old hotel in downtown Staunton. My wife and I stayed one night to break up a long drive. I much prefer a historic, well-built hotel to a new one on the side of the road. The common spaces and room were nicely updated, clean, and well-maintained. It was quiet and comfortable. There is a $7.50 per day parking fee for indoor garage parking in the same building. We also had the breakfast buffet in the morning - it's an extra charge, but well worth it. I'd stay here again for sure.
- 5/5
Clean and comfortable; great location!
- 4/5
Hotel was nice, staff was friendly and professional. Room was small, but very clean. The parking structure was not well lite and made me feel a bit uncomfortable.
- 4/5
Hotel was good. We enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
I never write reviews but I have to write one for this hotel. It was immaculately clean, staff was wonderful, and it’s in such a perfect area. I don’t know how else to explain it except that it had GREAT energy!
- 5/5
Such a relaxing stay at a historic hotel! Right in the middle of all the action, but quiet and comfortable. Good breakfast as well ($15) as well as an indoor pool, lounge, and other historic features. We'll be back!
- 5/5
Favorite hotel in country. Great American town to walk around. Definitely coming back. I send friends and they love it.

Staff, cleanliness, amenities, comfortable bed, good shower - all wonderful - and what we desired and received was the close location to the Black Friar Playhouse and "downtown" -just around the corner!
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel, walking distance to lots shops and restaurants.
- 3/5
ok
- 5/5
Love the charm of this old, restored hotel. Walkable, beautiful area, many charming shops and plenty of local eateries in the area
- 5/5
Fantastic location in the heart of Staunton. We watched a play at the next door Shakespearean style theatre & ate the best ribs of our lives at the Mill Street Grill. Would happily stay here again.
- 5/5
Great time, as always! We'll be back!!
- 3/5
It’s was ok, and average, but for the price we paid I expected a much nicer stay.
- 4/5
Tv outdated…no ability to stream. No charging capability for USB C…need to get with the times! Very busy weekend and elevators slow. Breakfast excellent.
- 5/5
Easy access to parking garage via elevator. Very nice breakfast buffet.
- 4/5
Property is clean, beautiful, and convenient to downtown shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
Nice staff Fancy place Nice price
- 5/5
Checking was smooth. Received a map of restaurants which was great. Parking was easy. Room had everything we needed!
- 3/5
Website advised there was a restaurant for dinner. When we went to make reservation we were told that stopped a long time ago. That was one of the reasons we picked this hotel.
- 5/5
We did not use either of these services on this trip.
- 5/5
We did not have breakfast or visit the bar during this stay but our room was clean and spacious and we enjoyed a good night’s rest. The staff is lovely as always.
- 5/5
We did not use either of these services.
- 5/5

- 5/5
A classic, historic, gorgeous hotel that is within walking distance to excellent restaurants and interesting shops.
- 4/5
Great location. Historic hotel close to everything. Can access foyer via lift in parking garage. Pool and gym in basement. Complimentary coffee / tea available during breakfast hours for guests not dining.
- 5/5
did not have breakfest
- 5/5
Located in historic Staunton! Walkable with shops all around and wonderful restaurant Mill Tavern! Staff was so welcoming!!
- 3/5
The in-room refrigerator was a small stand-alone one, plugged into the corner. No fan or fan switch in the bathroom. Sub-par bathroom tissues.
- 3/5
We were somewhat disappointed w/ the size of the room. It was tiny. Also, given the price of the room, and especially compared to others in the area, the continental breakfast should have been free. The parking garage was not well lit. We did enjoy the easy, walkable access to shops and restaurants.
- 5/5
Great. Breakfast great
- 5/5
The rooms are very comfortable, the linens are soft, the rooms are spotless, the staff is very friendly and very helpful and Stanton is a wonderful community
- 5/5
Covered parking. Very clean. Buffet breakfast available for purchase
- 5/5
Room was perfect
- 5/5
I love the ambiance of this hotel! Gotta change the name, though; it doesn’t due justice to this fine grande dame!
- 5/5
Perfect location for enjoying the activities, shops, and restaurants of Staunton on foot and without needing a car. Friendly staff, very clean rooms. WE will return.
- 5/5
The 100 year old hotel is in very good shape. Our room was clean and quiet. The hotel is right at Staunton's downtown for shopping and dining. The hotel breakfast was okay, but not outstanding. The staff was courteous and helpful. The free parking garage was adjacent and easy to use.
- 5/5
Lovely historic hotel with a great location and all the amenities. Walking distances to so many restaurants, shops, the Shakespeare Theatre, and other attractions. Breakfast bar was delicious and had so many choices. Only downside was it was short staffed and there was a wait for a table.
- 5/5
Always enjoy staying at 24 South. It is conveniently located in downtown Staunton and has a good breakfast buffet as well as being very near other excellent restaurants.
- 4/5
Nice hotel. Convenient location easy to walk to downtown restaurants and shops. Free parking. Bathroom could use a fan and a door hook for towels and toiletry bags. We’ve stayed here 3 times Easter weekends when visiting our DD at JMU.
- 5/5
Hotel is within walking distance of everything and the hot breakfast buffet was very good.
- 5/5
Lovely stay as always.
- 5/5
Wonderful, peaceful, relaxed. All made better by the staff at Hotel 24 South.
- 5/5
The downtown area was great with cute shops and restaurants
- 5/5
Great location, beautiful historic hotel, great staff, excellent breakfast
- 3/5
Dirty window with debris outside. Air conditioning vent blasted air too strongly. We requested housekeeping but didn’t get it.
- 5/5
Right in the middle of town. Within walking distance to shops & eateries. Hotel had a historic vibe & very clean!
- 3/5
Room was clean but old. Overall comfortable, but wish it was bigger. Not really any amenities.
- 5/5
The room was on the 5th floor, and the view of the town was fantastic. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the cleanliness was excellent. The location is perfect for exploring the area and walking to President Wilson's birthplace. I would definitely stay here again next time I visit Staunton.
- 4/5
The staff was helpful and friendly. My room was clean and comfortable. I was able to hear a little bit of noise from the hallway, but it wasn’t too disruptive. Parking was free and convenient to the hotel, which was nice. I did not try the breakfast, so I can’t speak to that. I would stay here again if I was visiting Staunton.
- 5/5
Very nice staff. Hotel perfectly situated downtown near college and all sorts of restaurants and shopping.
- 5/5
Nice spot to stay
- 5/5
Excellent location and beautiful historic hotel
- 5/5
We have driven past Staunton for decades and this was the first time we stopped. What a charming city! Adorable shops, local theatre, and great dining choices. Most impressive was the buffet breakfast at Hotel 24 - we showed up at 9:30 - it ended at 10 - everything was fresh and well stocked. Usually we avoid the end of the buffet time. The staff was so friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
This is the perfect hotel for a stay in Staunton, especially if you are attending Shakespeare plays at the Blackfriars Playhouse next door. It was raining on Friday when we arrived and so was the perfect location to access the playhouse. We had a beautiful, clean room with a great view of the town. Also a bonus was that parking is free in the parking deck on the weekends. The parking deck shares an elevator with the hotel. So we don’t have to pay to park or find a parking spot on the street. Just park and leave your car for the weekend, with everything within walking distance. And though the breakfast is $15 per person, it was well worth it. Very nice buffet that included hot and cold items. Eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurt, oatmeal, grits, fruits, breads, etc. It feels more like a restaurant with friendly wait staff, than a typical free hotel breakfast. That being said, I spent less at this hotel than others in the area with free breakfast. This hotel definitely had the wow factor. We will be coming back.
- 4/5
We ate breakfast at a bakery across the street, called Reunion.
- 5/5
Everything was nice
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Very clean and close to restaurants
- 5/5

- 5/5
Big foyer, elevators, check-in all up to snuff.
- 5/5
Good
- 5/5
Staff was fantastic and room was very clean and comfortable.
- 3/5
Rooms are very small and the bed is so close to the door that you can hear all the people walking in the hallways and doors opening and closing the rooms are very outdated
- 5/5
Nice touch with the small refrigerator in the room.
- 5/5
Clean, modern room at comfortable price.
- 5/5
Staff was all wonderful! Hotel lobby was beautiful, rooms spaxious and comfortable, and amazing downtown location.

Clean, efficient, great location, dog friendly, easy parking… we always stay here when we are in town!
- 5/5
A pleasant stay. Good hotel.
- 5/5
This is hotel is one of if not the best in the Staunton area. If you want a touch of American history and the comforts of modern times stay here. From the moment you walk in the first thing you see is the grand piano, as you walk to the front desk you walk by walls and walls of history. The rooms are big and super clean. The best part of the stay was my wife and I just wanted to have a moment away from the family and their lounge is not like any other. You can grab a martini or a cup of hot tea that’s served to you table tea pot and all. The staff is great and they understand family and make everyone feel welcomed. By the way if you stay on the weekends you don’t pay for parking. This is a 5 star in our book and we travel the country and don’t give 5 stars easily.
- 5/5
Christmas time,limited
- 5/5
We love staying here on our way north east to Maine. The price is incredible and the Hotel is dog friendly.
- 5/5
Rooms were very clean, comfortable, and charming.

- 5/5
We love this hotel. We've stayed here many times on our trip from New York State to South Carolina and back. It is a pleasure to be here. We even brought our dog with us on many trips. The only thing that is needed that doesn't have to do with the hotel is an EV Charging station in the Parking Garage. Staunton is a lovely town and the hotel is conveniently located in the center. The breakfast has an extensive buffet served in a beautiful sunlit dining room. The staff is welcoming and helpful. We will be back!
- 5/5
The staff was extremely courteous and the room was exceptionally clean and well kept. The town around the hotel was also very cute and historical. Wish we’d had more time to explore.
- 5/5
The staff was very nice and polite. The location was perfect for walking around downtown Staunton. Would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Beautiful Hotel and friendly staff.
- 5/5
Beautiful Hotel, friendly staff, conveniently located to downtown Staunton where everything is within walking distance.

It was a charming hotel in downtown Staunton,VA. Service was great. Room up to date and bed was comfy.
- 5/5
Everything is always perfect!
- 5/5
Clean room, great staff
- 5/5
Reception was friendly. Location of hotel was perfect! Room was clean.
- 3/5
The desk staff was wonderful and most helpful with directions, etc. The hotel is dated. Simple things like a plug-in at the base of the nightstand lamps were not available. We were not given or offered a wifi password. The bed was absolutely terrible. It was extremely hard and very uncomfortable.
- 5/5
Clean room, comfortable bed, quiet, lovely hotel, delicious breakfast, convenient location.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, beautiful and clean room, nice indoor pool.

- 4/5
They were busy since it is the holidays and the restaurant was not available in the evenings. The rooms were nice, but are a little small. That doesn’t really matter to me though. The staff was courteous and friendly.
- 5/5
Great as always!
- 3/5
Staff was good and pleasant, room was fine. No housekeeping for the room was a surprise. Conveniently located

- 5/5
Very comfortable room. Well appointed and very clean. The staff was super helpful and very kind
- 5/5
Nice, clean rooms, friendly staff, enjoyed the bar. This hotel is so convenient to other things to do in the city.
- 5/5
Staff was excellent, very courteous. Room was nice, was very clean. Restaurant menu was sparse but what was there was good. Main restaurant rooms where holding private holiday parties, had to sit in bar to eat dinner both nights, not happy about that as no room for hotel guest. A lot of choices for breakfast.
- 5/5
Clean room. Great location.
- 5/5
No complaints. For the rate the room was fine - not overly large or elaborate, but great location
- 3/5
The heat turning off and on made it difficult to sleep.
- 3/5
The clerk seemed in a rush, friendly yet rushed us through. She offered wrong information about local restaurant. As a senior with bad knees, the room was a challenge. Bed was high, had to use a stool to direct the shower head and reach towels. The remote must have needed new batteries as it was difficult to change stations
- 5/5
The room was clean and comfortable, and, as always, the staff was friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
The room was perfect. Check in was smooth and staff was more than friendly. You must enjoy the breakfast!
- 5/5

- 4/5
Great location, pleasant staff, and lovely lobby.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel and the staff members were friendly and super helpful. The interior is well maintained and has tons of character. Love the place
- 5/5
Spotless room. Staff very caring. We arrived exhausted. Best beds and pillows. I would have bought a pillow!!
- 5/5
This is a wonderful hotel, conveniently located and extremely walkable to food and drinks. Staunton is a great city to visit.
- 4/5
Amazing location and very nice staff. Room was sort of nondescript, but it was clean and perfectly comfortable. Only real issue were the elevators, which often took forever and there was one that would not stop at our floor--like we had to time when to press the button to avoid being stuck in elevatory purgatory. There were some other things that felt dated, but for the location alone, we'd stay here again to be in the middle of everything.
- 5/5
great hotel
- 5/5
Very clean and quiet hotel reasonably priced. Staff very nice and responsive. Hotel convenient from I95.
- 5/5
We had a very late check-in and the staff was very nice and accommodating. It was a lovely room and a great hotel.

- 5/5
The room was small but cute. It was very clean. The hotel itself is beautiful and perfectly located in downtown. We parked for the weekend and did not need to drive anywhere. We easily walked to everything!
- 5/5
It was a wonderful stay in your hotel.

This is a wonderful property, in a fantastic location.
- 4/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
Courteous staff, clean room, and convenient location next door to the American Shakespeare Theatre.
- 5/5
Rooms could use a deep cleaning, including the windows and blinds. The shower needs an upgrade wit more versatile heads and wands.
- 5/5
Really good breakfast, convenient to everything, staff friendly and free complimentary coffee downstairs in the morning appreciated.Enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
The staff were all very kind and accommodating
- 5/5
Room was clean, great location.
- 5/5
The breakfast was not included in the room fee but was well worth the additional charge.
- 5/5
It was nice, but breakfast was $15/person. Parking was awkward. Room was small with no view. This is not the type of hotel I would choose to stay in again.
- 5/5
The room wa big! Everything was clean and inviting. The King bed was comfortable and it looked like the sheets were pressed! Darlene at the front desk was great, helpful and fun! I would love to come back.
- 5/5
Ms. Jackie at front desk was amazing...she let us check in early and was just very friendly and kind
- 5/5
Beautiful downtown location. We loved the charm of the area.
- 4/5
The staff was helpful and courteous and cleaning seemed at least on par. It's an older building, which gives it some charm, but it is not updated in many ways. The breakfast buffet was not free, but was well done with quality and variety and a good value, with staff serving beverages, etc.
- 5/5
The room was clean (the bathroom smelled especially nice), the beds were comfortable and there was even a small refrigerator in the room (we had not seen this in the description so it was a nice surprise)
- 4/5
Was beautiful and very nice historic area. Was disappointed the lounge was not open felt site should have indicated limited hours as I chose this hotel believing I would be able to have light dinner in house without leaving g hotel since my husband is handicapped. Fortunately things were I walking distance but town is not wheelchair friendly due to hills
- 4/5
Nice clean hotel, in a great part of town.
- 5/5
The room was well prepared, clean and all amenities worked flawlessly.
- 5/5
nice place classy
- 4/5
Clean quiet hotel that is perfect walking distance to downtown.
- 5/5
Really enjoyed the room - very comfortable. Felt rested and ready to travel again the next day. Good walking town.
- 5/5
Terrific desk clerk. Quiet clean room.
- 5/5
Loved it
- 5/5
This hotel was centrally located in downtown Staunton. The room was large and clean and the pool/fitness center was very nice.
- 4/5
First time staying at this Hotel. We were happy overall with two things that kept us form giving them all 5's. Parking garage isn't well lit and had a homeless person who appeared to live in the lower level near the entrance. Bathroom tub could have been cleaned better.
- 5/5
Classic hotel with very friendly staff. Walkable to all of quaint Staunton.
- 5/5
Nice accommodations.

So, no real housekeeping services. It’s like they never came out of Covid 19. Had to request if you wanted anything from housekeeping. No room service either. Bar was closed Sunday night. Slower season, but they need to find a way to balance their offering vs just closing, limiting services and charging same price. Something just doesn’t feel right.

Perfect 3 night stay with lifelong friend, hubby and our beagle. Hotel was fabulous and in a perfect location. Staff were so kind, friendly and helpful, especially Tabitha, Emily and Wesley. The food in the bar was very good as was their choice of wines. Salmon patty, wings and wedge salad were delicious. The smashburger looked to die for but we were not that terribly hungry. Oh and may I mention the complimentary coffee in the lounge…..I travel often and most often the coffee is nothing to write home about. Hotel 24 South has awesome coffee! Parking is a breeze as is shopping, walking and dining around Staunton’s lovely vibrant downtown. Definitely will be coming back.

Clean. Helpful, response staff.
- 5/5
beautiful lobby, clean and spacious. navigating the historic old town to reach the hotel/parking was a bit challenging. Room was smaller than expected but not entirely surprised given the historic hotel. Breakfast buffet was disappointing but fairly priced for the average offerings. Mattress was much firmer than accustomed to.
- 5/5
Parking close by and reasonable price
- 5/5
Kept us cool was quiet for a good nights rest.

- 5/5
Very nice place to stay.
- 5/5
Everything was perfect, rge staff, the hotel conditions, location, parking
- 4/5
Good room with great mattess. Only seat was a straight back chair. Well equiped fitness center with dumbbells. Love the location and ease of parking. In hotel dining options aren't great but many excellent restaurants are a short walk away
- 5/5
Check was easy, friendly staff, very convenient, pillows were a little stiff for my liking but everything was great.
- 5/5
Beautiful, walkable area!
- 5/5
Great hotel
- 5/5
You can walk to many fine restaurants. A few comments about the bedding: 1) the mattress was a bit firm for our taste 2) the sheets were very rough (not "premium bedding") 3) the bed pillows were like sleeping on bricks. Way too firm for our liking. Aside from the bedding, the hotel was beautiful and we will stay again (we'll bring our own pillows). The attached parking garage was convenient, but note that many of the lights were burned out. It was very dark at night, making us feel nervous. But we had no problems.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was delightful. It is just a short walk to charming shops and restaurants. All in all, Hotel 24 South is a winner.

Thisnis our go-to place to meet half-way (me and my sis)...it is right-sozed, charming, quiet--with great food and easy in and out parking. Location is perfect for walking to everything Staunton has to offer (which is quite a bit)....
- 5/5
Very nice hptel. Beautiful historic Building, immaculate room.
- 5/5
Nice location in downtown Staunton. Walking distance to everything and staff we more than willing to help with all of our questions. And the parking lot was attached to the hotel so made for a very nice stay!
- 3/5
Property is centrally located. Great walking opportunities with plenty of eateries close-by. Suggest hotel restructure or redecorate rooms. Our king size bed was very close to the room door. Voices can be heard in the halfway easily. Also please lubricate door hinges. Opening and closing bathroom door was quite loud. Room fridge was quite small and too low to the floor. Fridge should be on a table. Overall the room was clean and bed very comfortable
- 5/5
Friendly staff, beautiful hotel. First time to the area and we will return.
- 5/5
I love the pet and baby-friendly property with lovely rooms, amazing breakfast, and great location.
- 5/5
Property and location are beautiful.
- 5/5
The staff was so friendly and the hotel was very clean
- 3/5
It was average
- 5/5
Great Place
- 4/5
We were greated by a warm staff which is always nice. However, there was a boil notice in place which did affect our stay. Not the hotel's fault but offering guests a single bottle of water was not a sufficient response. Barring the water issue it was a pleasant stay.
- 4/5
Room was clean and the beds were comfortable. I wish the room had a mini refrigerator to keep our bottled water cold. There was a water main break in the city so we were advised not to drink or use the water from the sink to brush our teeth.
- 5/5
The options at the hotel were limited.
- 5/5
Breakfast was good. Bed was a little too squishy for me
- 5/5
I loved being in the heart of the downtown and appreciated the beauty of the hotel. Nice fitness center as well.
- 5/5
Everything perfect.
- 4/5
Have stayed here multiple times. Always a positive experience.
- 4/5
Beautiful hotel
- 5/5
No complaints
- 5/5
Overall this is a nice place to stay. I love the centralized location. Clean room, albeit a little small. Nice breakfast buffet, but I’d add a salad option as well for some greens / veggies.
- 5/5
I was charged $7.50 for the garage which I should not have been charged that should be included in the fee to stay there other than that it was great
- 2/5
We requested a pet free floor and were assured we had one. But there was a yappy dog right next door. We refused to move to another room, since it seemed the offenders next door should have been the ones moved, namely to a pet friendly floor. We had the same issue once before at this hotel.
- 5/5
Very cool part of town
- 5/5
Really nice classy old fashioned hotel feel. Extremely steep walks to hotel. Town has interesting character, probably seen better days. Good restaurants, nice pedestrianized streets.
- 5/5
Excellent service from staff.
- 5/5
Comfortable and clean. Nice restaurants close by. The parking garage is beside the hotel with elevator access. Cost additional $7.50 for parking
- 5/5
Great location
- 5/5
We would have liked a full restaurant in the hotel, but there are many other dining options in town.
- 5/5
Great property. Great location. Love the town.
- 5/5
Great place to stay. We always stay here when we're in the area. Convenient walk to great places to ear, drink and shop downtown. Quick access to the interstate to go north, south or east.
- 4/5
Ideal for anybody attending an evening performance at the American Shakespeare Center

This is a lovely old hotel in the heart of the town. It was our second time staying here and we were pleased with both the beauty of the hotel and the friendly staff.

- 4/5
Room and all public areas experienced were clean.
- 5/5
Spacious and beautiful Lobby area. Quiet room.
- 4/5
The stay was good. We always like to relax at an on site bar after dinner but were informed after we had already booked the room that the bar was not open the night we were going to stay. Very disappointed this was not conveyed by Hotels.com before the booking.
- 5/5
We had a lovely stay at Hotel 24 South. Very nice lobby, and our room was quite comfortable. Being located in the heart of downtown was extremely convenient, and the maid service was excellent. Will definately stay there again when visiting!
- 4/5
We enjoyed the stay at the hotel. To enhance the experience the hotel may benefit from an update/renovation. :)
- 5/5
Excellent….we thoroughly enjoyed!!
- 5/5
The staff were friendly and accommodating.
- 5/5
This was an interesting location to visit. The building seems historic but with nice modern updates. I appreciated being able to bring my dog for an added fee. The room was clean and well equipped.
- 5/5
Incredible property beautiful decor spotless room and exceptional bedding
- 5/5
Very nice hotel and great location for downtown Staunton.
- 3/5
A once grand hotel but not kept up. Cleanliness of rooms and bathrooms was OK, bed linen had seen better days. Staff polite but somewhat indifferent. Did not avail ourselves of the breakfast at the restaurant, so can't comment on that. Within easy walking distance to downtown Staunton.
- 3/5
Property was okay
- 5/5
We had an excellent stay
- 5/5

My second stay at this hotel was excellent. The room was a great size with plenty of natural light. The location is the best you can find in Staunton. Overall, a good value for money.
- 5/5
Hotel is in center of downtown area, within easy walking distance of train station and restaurants. It’s very clean, modernized and has attached garage for parking, easily accessible from lobby by elevator. Visitor Center is only a few steps away.
- 5/5
Courteous staff and free parking at the interior parking garage.
- 5/5
Always love staying here. Rooms/walkability/convenience to downtown can't be beat for the price. Breakfast is also delicious and the pool is always great for the kid.
- 5/5
The staff was super helpful explaining where everything was located. We drove into the parking garage and the next time we needed to drive our vehicle was when we left. We were able to want to everything we wanted to see.
- 5/5
Excellent room, friendly staff, and a wonderful breakfast in the heart of this attractive town. Easy parking too. Highly recommend.
- 5/5
We have stayed here over 20 times. Best place in town.
- 5/5
We highly recommend this hotel. The hotel is in close proximity to a great Indian restaurant down the hill and the American Shakespeare Center's Blackfriar Theater right next door. We were thrilled to experience a great performance of The Winter's Tale. We also appreciated that the hotel was willing to correct the date of our reservation at the same rate (we accidentally reserved the following night).
- 5/5
We can to town for a concert in Charlottesville’s and decided to stay in Staunton. Found this hotel. This was a great. Love the hotel. The room was clean and perfect. Would recommend and will stay again if we come this way
- 5/5
Hotel 24 South is a superb place to stay in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. The historic building is modern and retains the grandeur of it's past. Extremely clean and beautifully decorated. The staff is exemplary and if you are in town to see a production at The American Shakespeare Company, it is right next door and they're plays should not be missed on a visit to Staunton. Hotel 24 South was a revelation. Quiet, elegant and a wonderful destination.

- 5/5
Really nice hotel in the heart of town. Lovely, helpful staff and great value for money. Very walkable to numerous restaurants, cafes and bars. Highly recommended.
- 4/5
The hotel was charming and nice. I had to use the Expedia app to book my room after the person at the counter told me there was no availability. I thought this was odd, but otherwise a good stay at a nice hotel.
- 5/5
This is a beautiful old hotel in a very quaint part of town. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
