La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Stamford / New York City

Con: Whole building is undergoing construction; some rooms do not have working AC; There are no plates available during breakfast; They charge your card rather than "holding" the amount on the card; No office our lounge area to sit and relax Was not impressed with the property and will not return to this location

A hotel lobby is your first impression. There is no acceptable reason for that lobby to look like that

Very old, tired room that needs a deep clean. Found a previous guest’s baby-gro vest by bed! Breakfast is shocking. So bad it was forcing people to use the next door diner, when they had paid for hotel breakfast. Very expensive, overpriced rooms. Don’t stay here unless you have to.

Stayed for 1 night here. Looks like La Quinta maybe recently bought this property as it still had the previous name on the door and outside. It was kinda of dump and am surprised they would put their name on this before the renovations are completed. Reviews had stated lots of renovating was happening but overall had good reviews so we booked. It was awful! The renovations were thru out the lobby and the pool area was closed. Construction materials everywhere. Not stroller friendly as you have to walk up 2 sets of stairs to get to the elevator. Had to pay for parking which we’ve never done at any other La Quinta. The staff at the desk were friendly. Although it stated it was a non smoking hotel, the smell of marijuana permeated the hallway and elevator areas. The room was small and very dated and the carpet was filthy. The mattress was quite uncomfortable and it dipped in the middle and was thin. Breakfast was very limited. Would not stay here again.

Definitely stay somewhere else unless you hear that this place had a beautiful renovation

I never reach the hotel and you still charged me

When I checked in to my room there was dried yellow pee on the toilet seat and dirty muddy water marks on the shower wall. The room had No TV and No extra chair to actually sit at the desk

Great staff, clean rooms

Took 3 different tries to get a working key card. When I got into the room the TV was on which was odd. There was left over TP in the Toliet (assumed after cleaning staff they forgot to flush) when went to flush it back up a little. Was able to find cleaning staff on floor and they fixed immediately for me. In the morning as I was about to shower I realized I didnt have any big body towels, just tue 2 face clothes and hand towels. Not even a matt to stand on for when I got out the shower. I searched the room and opened the dresser closet and saw all the towels which looked used sitting on the safe. Made me rethink the cleanliness of the room of just stayed in. It looked clean when I went in, but all these little details and the Towel follow up makes me rethink if I should give them a second chance.

There was no pool to go to since it's being renovated that was a big down fall. should have made customers aware before hand

Clean room, friendly staff,

I stayed overnight because my son’s passport expired. However, the room wasn’t ready because we needed an assessable room, I wasn’t in any rush. But they cleaned the room and the staff were very friendly and kind. I enjoyed my time there and the diner next door!

The Staff are always friendly and polite, but they are under great stress due to the ongoing refurbishing, which has been going on for at least 4 years and is now really causing a very unsightly facility. Seven years ago there was courtesy coffee in the reception area, this stopped about 2 - 3 years ago. Now there was no coffee in the breakfast room on at least one of the four days I stayed. The swimming pool is closed. The refurbished breakfast room was poorly designed. The space for getting coffee, juice and/or breakfast items has been greatly reduced in size so if here are are four or more people in the area, you are bumping into people. The food selections are less than stellar - there were no biscuits for the biscuit and gravy, there was no sausage or bacon to accompany the scrambled eggs, there were no snacks, as there were in previous years. There is now a charge for parking for hotel guests - something else reducing the value of staying at the LaQuinta. While the LaQuinta earned a B rating in the distant past, it is now barely a C, and probably a C- due to the reduced amenities. The rooms continue to be reasonably equipped and the beds are still comfortable, and they have finally replaced all the old carpets in the hallways leading to the rooms.
