Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its location, breakfast, and friendly staff. However, many guests have complained about the condition of the rooms and the hotel's facilities, with some mentioning issues with air conditioning, parking fees, and cleanliness.
- Great location
- Friendly staff
- Outdated facilities
- Issues with air conditioning

Property is currently being renovated and you can't use the stairs. Rooms have been renovated and look nice. Balconies look out onto a dismal parking lot/commercial area. The layout is awkward with the elevator located in the parking garage (no access from lobby). Please note, in addition to your room key, you need the elevator access key card that opens the door from the parking garage to get to the elevator. If you don't have this, you will be locked out.

Decor was great. Room very clean and I will come again

Even with the remodel rooms were great, location was perfect for us and the staff was friendly and courteous. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful clean rooms and welcoming friendly staff! Nice grab and go breakfast with hot items as well. Cute little pool and the rooms have lil balcony’s.

Liked everything about the change, Wish the remodel had been completed
- 3/5
Under construction. No notice and no acknowledgment. No iron available. Only steamer. Had to call to get one. Room was right next to construction.

Newly renovated. Beautifully designed room and great location. Staff was friendly and professional.
- 1/5
Property was under major construction which was not disclosed in advance. My 82 year old mother had to walk up and down the stairs because the elevator was out.
- 3/5
They did not tell me until after I booked my stay that there was remodeling construction ongoing and the hot tub was not available and there was construction debris and a temporary entrance into the lobby from the parking garage. The only working elevator was a "new" service elevator that was very slow. I like the location, the newly remodeled rooms are nice, but the construction was disruptive and annoying.

The property is undergoing major renovation so there was no elevator, no ice machine and no pool. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly.
- 4/5
The positives are the rooms are very nicely renovated. The staff is great. Location is great. I may have considered elsewhere due to the construction
- 3/5
When I mentioned none of this was disclosed on the app booking, I was told “it’s probably in the fine print” I didn’t see-it there either. Very misleading for the amount of money spent. The rooms were very clean and cleaning staff was very attentive. We felt bad as a maintenance lady had to lift heavy bags of linens up to the third floor , on her back, while a manager watched so my husband helped the lady. That same morning the front desk was overwhelmed and visibly stressed. Not sure what’s happening in management but I was disappointed. Will not stay here again. The location however was convenient to local food and drink. Just not worth the escalated rates. There’s a MARRIOT, believe, next door-
- 2/5
I did not know property was under renovation. Elevator did not work. Construction worker on property directing traffic through construction into parking garage got snippy with my wife because she wasn’t moving fast enough. Walked to front desk and cancelled our stay, and stayed somewhere else.

Excellent location, excellent area, and excellent rooms! It was under renovation, but they didn't mention it until after you had paid for your stay. There was no elevator, and the breakfast—despite being grab-and-go—was very incomplete, with very few options.

Nothing. Construction was horrible. The noise, the inconvenience of the elevators not working. Having to carry baggage up 2 or 3 flights of stairs not good. If I hadn't booked months in advance. Would've booked somewhere else.

The property is under construction however, the property is clean and the staff are helpful and friendly. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable with nice comfortable pillows. Both my husband and I enjoyed our stay The only downfall was that the property is under construction and we couldn’t use the elevator and my husband has bad knees and struggled to use the stairs

Holiday Inn in Solana Beach needs to let people know it’s under a serious renovation. No elevator , climbing 3 flights of stairs daily for 3 days with a bad knee was rough. Television was out for 2 days they claimed cable issue. Horrible WIFI. On a positive note upgraded rooms nice decor and free breakfast to go.
- 5/5
Rooms are nice, the area is lovely
- 3/5
The rooms felt newly upgraded. Turn down service was great. We came when they were under renovations The listing had no notice of renovations The rooms were on the third floor and there was not a working elevator. I moved one room to second floor. Paid for a balcony room and got a room with no balcony on second. Also there was no working tvs. Tv service was down. Breakfast was small but good.

This hotel is under construction and should really tell guests what is going on there. But besides that, the pool area is awful and the maid knocked on every door at 8 am. Also, we could hear people talking from down stairs. There is a car rental place on one side of building that vacuums and washes cars all day and was very loud thru the windows.
- 1/5
They are doing construction and it affects the overall stay immensely. Plus we were near laundry and people were drying clothes all night which was very loud. There were ants in our room.
- 2/5
Decor was nice. Bed was comfortable. Tv was a good size and the remote worked. I really didn't enjoy my stay. Not sure if I got it on a bad month or if it would have sucked anyway.
- 3/5
It was under construction and was not notified ahead of time. However, the rooms and location were great. The view out my window was bad- dirty abandoned parking lot vibe. I do think if the rest of the hotel turns out as nice as the rooms, this will be a great place to stay.
- 3/5
Great location and clean, refreshed room. There was a lot of construction going on (no elevator, lobby closed, downsized breakfast, workers everywhere). Once complete it will be nice, but it was surprising there were no advisories when booking the hotel considering there are no rooms on the ground level and no elevator access for a month.
- 1/5
While paying full price for the area, the main lobby was closed for renovations, finding the check in area was not clearly marked. We were then informed the elevators were being changed and we would be on the 3rd floor. Entrance to the stairs was not found until opening a few different doors to the trash disposal. Upon arriving in the room, the bathroom floor was so sticky I had to rinse off the residue from my shoes. The tv did not work, the air condition was exceptionally loud and towards the end of its life, while waking up to construction every morning. In addition, the pool and hot tub were closed.
- 2/5
Under construction. Zero water pressure, came out like a drip. Just going through a remodel but check first before going here.

cant beat the location. Housekeeping staff was friendly. Booked a 7 night stay. After paying in full on booking.com, got a message saying no pool or hot tub. Ok, thats not at all what was advertised, but not a deal breaker for me. But when I landed I was informed there was NO HOT WATER. Just got off a 6 hr flight from NYC, looking forward to a hot shower. They offered to cancel my reservation, but my reservation was prepaid and I was not going to be able to find a last minute 7 night stay in the same area at comparable rates. In any case, they promised that the hot water would be back that day or the next. And they offered a discount on my stay. I literally shook hands with the front desk rep on this. There was no hot water for 4 days and one day there was NO WATER AT ALL. They offered no warning of the water shut off and I learned of it after using the toilet and trying to wash my hands. Mind you I have been spending the first 4 days of my vacation time trying to find places to shower! Now I can't even wash my hands? Then the elevator went out and they didn't have the courtesy to post signage, so you just wait at the elevator like an idiot. I did a lot of stair climbing with luggage that week. Hotel was a major construction zone with exits blocked or out of order. This was all planned and they took reservations anyway. Got a huge run around about contacting booking.com and have received no refund as promised. Don't do business at this hotel. There is a much nicer Marriott Courtyard right next door, which I'm sure is a bit costlier, but don't fall for this Holiday Inn trap house.

Location was being under construction. The boiler went out causing the hotel to run out of warm water. We took a freezing cold shower and in the middle of the unpleasant cold shower the water ran out. For what they offered the hotel was overpriced. The hotel only offered a 15% discount for the inconvenience. I would not return to this hotel.
- 5/5
Breakfast was tasty and fresh, rooms were clean and the staff was exceptional.
- 5/5
Under construction so we had to bring our breakfast to our room. No place to sit.
- 4/5
Renovating. Beautiful interior, bed not so comfortable. Balconies are a nice bonus, parking is limited if arriving late.
- 5/5
You CANNOT beat the location, a block from the beach!
- 5/5

- 4/5
Highway is loud in front of the hotel.
- 5/5
Clean, friendly accommodating staff and great location
- 5/5
Very comfortable bed, staff made sure beds were made and new towels were provided. Very close to Cedros and the beach. Would stay again!
- 3/5
The tv reception was glitchy
- 5/5
There are renovations going on but regardless the service was great!
- 5/5
Our favorite hotel, we keep coming back and would not go anywhere else. The staff is so friendly and helpful and really makes the stay enjoyable.
- 3/5
Price was fair; construction STILL ongoing for remodel; did NOT get a King bed I requested; overall was Ok
- 4/5
so close to the beach ! but the elevator is really old sometimes it made a unexpected bumpy start and stop, im ok with it but it really scares kids and some ladies.
- 5/5
Yes
- 5/5
Still remodeling. But they helped you any way they could. Pool back open now.
- 4/5
Overall it was a good experience
- 3/5
However the LOCATION is beautiful! We walked to the beach twice!!!
- 4/5
Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would happily return. My only complaint is the water pressure in the shower in Room 220, which could definitely be improved.
- 4/5
The biggest bummer was the pool was closed due to construction. Might've picked a different hotel if we had known.
- 2/5
The hotel was under construction so there was no pool and no area for breakfast. The construction noise was loud and there was dust everywhere. The walk to the beach was not short. I will never stay here again. Many better hotels for the same price.
- 3/5
The room was cute, clean, and nicely decorated with modern beach-themed décor. However, the balcony view was disappointing—it overlooked a non-working pool and a parking lot, and the beach view was blocked by other buildings. The elevator was very loud and felt old, which made it a bit uncomfortable to use. I also purchased hummus and crackers from the lounge snack area and the hummus seemed old and upset my stomach. On a positive note, the continental breakfast was simple but good. Overall, the room itself was nice, but some maintenance and quality improvements would make the stay much better.
- 5/5
Clean place and close to the ocean
- 4/5
There is no beach view from the hotel, it's too far inland. There was construction going on that we weren't aware of, so the lobby was rearranged. Our room was clean and lovely, I liked the shampoo and body wash provided, a standard, simple room for a quick stay.
- 2/5
There is no beach view
- 4/5
The hotel is under construction so there were no amenities, but the take-away continental breakfast was pretty awesome. I was expecting pre-packaged muffins or cereal boxes but there were lots of options. The front desk worker and the breakfast worker were both great - very friendly and helpful! The room was adorable, one of the cutest I've seen in a reasonably-priced hotel. However, the bathroom had a barn-style door and there was no fan in the bathroom. That is a terrible design choice! The bathroom is the only place to have privacy in a hotel room, and barn doors don't seal so there is no real sense of privacy. The lack of a bathroom fan means people in the room will hear everything you're doing in the bathroom. I'd love to stay here again but only if the bathrooms get real doors.
- 2/5
I have two stars because the staff were really nice. 👍
- 3/5
Being told the hotel was under construction would have been the honest and right thing to do. I would not have spent $200 plus to stay there with a non-refundable room if I had known. The room was cute enough but was lacking a bathroom fan, bathroom door lock and the fridge was old and didn't work well. Shut off after a few hours it seems. Rail was wobbly on balcony. The hotel outside of our room felt really janky and it was just an odd experience.
- 4/5
We had a short walk to Belly Up for a concert. The hotel had some snacks for purchase in the lobby which was convenient. Pool was under construction, but we weren't using it this trip anyway. We did not eat the free breakfast. Lobby is simple, nothing fancy but didn't bother us. It was clean with some cool retro furniture. We would totally stay here again.
- 5/5
Rm was clean and quiet
- 2/5
Hotel is under major renovation. This was not originally disclosed at booking. There is no pool available. There is no lobby. Front desk check-in is in a utility area at the rear of the hotel near the parking lot. The breakfast area is in the same utility area. There are no tables and no place to sit and eat. The hot breakfast consisted of microwave breakfast sandwiches that you prepared yourself and took with you. The room itself was great. New and renovated. However, you have to stay in it the entire time you’re there because there are currently no other amenities available. While I give them credit for making the best of it, the hotel probably should not be open in its current state. Additionally, the rate paid was based on a fully functional hotel. Comparable properties were priced similarly. Had we been aware of the level of renovation occurring, we likely would have chose a different hotel.
- 4/5
The hotel was clean and also had wonderful staff members. I wish the contenintal breakfast had more items to choose from though, was sort of small. Our room was decent, but only down side was it was facing the intersection so a little loud, and also the random freight trains that went by early in the morning. My husband and I would definitely stay there again and maybe it would be finished with the remodel..
- 3/5
Room was clean, staff was very profesional especially at reception my tv wasnt working but they handed me a fire stick and solve the problem
- 1/5
Expedia’s depiction of this property is highly misleading! It’s torn apart and I didn’t learn it until it was too late to get a refund. No breakfast room, no pool, no whirlpool. TV in room didn’t work. Toilet wouldn’t flush. Constructive everywhere. I have stayed here yearly for 10 years. Never again.
- 5/5
However, they are in the middle of innovation.
- 5/5
The breakfast area was under construction but they set up a grab and go breakfast with lots of delicious options. Every staff member we interacted with was super friendly and helpful! The gym was also great and had plenty of free weights, cardio options, and extra accessories.
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
Not breakfast
- 4/5
My heater broke down, so I changed my room on the second day. I had a hard time on the first evening.
- 2/5
Walls are thin, a lot of noise.
- 5/5
Clean and quiet staff friendly and helpful my only complaint would be the lack of water pressure, very weak
- 4/5
Courteous staff, clean room.
- 5/5
Clean, renovated room--staff was very nice
- 5/5
The external parts look a little weird right now, and the pool is closed because it's under construction. But the room was freshly renovated and very comfy. The rooms are small as far as I can tell, as it is a small hotel and it is in a very high demand area. But for the size it was lovely. And perfect for my needs. Very very clean and comfortable Very very clean
- 4/5
Excellent stay! It's always good to get a free bfast, clean rooms and the best location!
- 5/5
Very kind personel.
- 5/5
Super clean.... Great decor.
- 4/5
I found the accomodations adequate ... it met my need for a one night stay. Thought the shower tile floor could be cleaner. And, at 4:00 AM their was a mechanical noise that would last about 15 seconds and repeat ever two or three minutes. Sounded like a water value.
- 4/5
How bout a set of pillows? Helen
- 5/5
Very clean and updated room, great breakfast, purified cold water in a dispenser for water bottles, conveniently located near Del Mar beaches and nightlife.
- 3/5
Below average overall
- 5/5
From the beginning to the end especially our hostess at the breakfast dinner. Will definitely stay at a Holiday inn Express again!!!
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean rooms. Easy parking
- 4/5
Friendly stuff and very professional!
- 5/5
It seemed a little silly to have to pay for parking when there were hardly any cars in the garage and there was ample free street parking. Otherwise, the stay was great—the room and beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and modern.
- 3/5
Gave us the wrong room (we paid for a balcony but were put into a groub floor room with no outdoor space, overlooking an ugly empty pool) and we needed to be moved, but they did it without much fuss
- 4/5
Staff was nice and all updated areas were beautiful. The older areas are in dire need of updates still. Especially the elevator. We went up and the door stayed open for half the trip up. Not a fun feeling! The hot tub was not available which was a bummer. Breakfast was actually pretty good too.
- 5/5
Hotel is currently under remodel.
- 1/5
This place is a joke. I wouldn’t stay here until it gets completed.
- 5/5
Room was large and beautiful and quiet. Balcony was nice and quiet. I really enjoyed my stay. Bus goes right this hotel to Oceanside and San Diego.
- 4/5
Quick overnight trip. Great customer service
- 1/5
Empty pool and locked (illegal) stairway exits on every door making this a fire trap. My PtSD is activated and i am livid
- 5/5
Henry at the front desk was very courteous and helpful throughout my stay.
- 4/5
Room was clear, staff polite and quiet. The shower gel wasn’t replaced during our 3 night stay clearly wasn’t checked. That aside ideal if location for Del Mar races!
- 3/5
Construction relegated the check in to a store room off of the parking lot. Room was clean but lacked a decent comfortable chair to sit in. Breakfast was good.
- 5/5
It was Nice
- 5/5
Yes
- 3/5
The room was fine, a little carpet is preferrable over cold tile floors. The bathroom needs better ventilation. Two chairs on the porch would work better than one for a visiting couple. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- 4/5
Rooms are great and staff was really nice during construction
- 3/5
The room was newly re-done & clean. No water or coffee or cups. Kinda disappointing. Did not see staff other than in the breakfast room.
- 4/5
Clean room, friendly staff
- 4/5
Staff was very nice and helpful.
- 4/5
The staff was nice, and the room service people were friendly. The rooms seemed recently renovated and the furniture new. The lobby was under construction during our stay so everyone was using the staff entrance, so things were a little cramped coming and going, but that’s understandable.
- 4/5
Clean and spacious room with a spacious balcony. Good value for money
- 5/5
The room was cute, clean, and very comfortable for our 3 night stay. Every staff member was friendly and helpful, and although there is construction going on we weren't affected by it at all. We didn't pay to park in the garage spaces underneath the hotel, but didn't have any problem finding street parking. The location is fantastic - located in a quieter area just steps from multiple beach parks, cute restaurants, and a short drive from anything else we wanted to go to.
- 2/5
overpriced
- 5/5
Clean room, comfortable bed, breakfast was good. Need more veryity or choices.
- 4/5
The property was in the middle on construction when I was staying however it didn't not greatly effect the cleanliness or add noise. Clean room, beautifully designed and overall great stay.
- 4/5

- 5/5
we went during construction and the building was very clean with all of the construction happening as well. the staff were very nice and helpful. The room is a typical hotel room but it was clean and easy to get around
- 5/5
Some construction going on around the building but didn't bother me and didn't hear anything loud. Also the updates are nice. I would stay here again and great location.
- 1/5
Area surrounding hotel is junkyard so be ready for that view. Staff was nice but Expedia posts a scam of what the reality of this hotel is.
- 3/5
The only problem is that it was under construction when we stayed but other than that it’s a good hotel in a great location
- 5/5
The hotel was being updated with solar and the lobby being remodeled. The staff did well considering this. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I planned to return.
- 5/5
Clean, modern room, comfy bed, came to see the Chameleons at the Belly-Up, easy walk to and from. Full breakfast, coffee. All ya need.
- 2/5
Hotel was under renovation. I contacted Expedia to see if they could move my reservation to another hotel and they were unable to resolve my issue. Hotel refused to release my reservation or move me to another room since safety box wasn't working. Wifi didn't work. My balcony view was to a rental car carwash and taken apart car
- 4/5
in the midst of remodel
- 1/5
It was the worst experience of my life in a hotel. I’m a night nurse and I work nights and sleep in the day. They didn’t disclose ahead of time that there was any type of construction that was jackhammer going off all day long it was filthy dirty outside of the hotel room the carpets the lounge the check up Whenever you needed something you had to call three or four times the office was in the garage. it just felt unsafe all around. It was broken glass down in the parking garage. There was no ice machines. They were broken.
- 3/5
Hotel that is going thru a major renovation. Rooms bright and clean but as business traveler how are you supposed to get any work done with a trendy micro desk and a chair some designer came up with who has never sat at a hotel desk and done hours of computer work?
- 3/5
The internet was very erratic and cuts off every 5 min. It is useless. Good: Staff are helpful and polite, the room was clean
- 4/5
We stayed here for 2 nights and it was amazing! They are remodeling the property so there weren’t ice machines and parking was messy, but they did waive the parking fees to compensate for it. The free breakfast was surprisingly decent. Quick walk to the beach, good food around within walking distance. Quiet slow paced area. It was exactly the get away we were looking for without breaking the bank :)
- 1/5
Poorly-managed mess of a hotel. Property is dirty, plumbing doesn’t work, rooms smell like cigarette smoke, and stairwells are blocked in a way that is both inconvenient and presumably unsafe.
- 1/5
No internet for me to work it was off and “they had to have a new router “. Nondisclosure on the major construction. I’m a night nurse worked all night came back to sleep zero sleep then had to run my private business form my phone. Barely any of my bars weee able since it’s a cement building my computer wouldn’t work since no internet. My eyes are swollen from having to use my phone and have a migraine. From lack of sleep. Just awful
- 4/5
The room is very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a big plus. The WI-FI was unfortunately not working during our stay.
- 3/5
Fine
- 4/5
of the garage renovations which was appreciated. Remodeled rooms are very nice. Water pressure in showers is to low.
- 5/5
Nice valet parking and wine list. Waiter was very helpful.
- 5/5
Check in location not usual but was fine.
- 3/5
The staff were wonderful and the room was cute and comfortable. My only issue was the hotel was under construction. It was very noisy and the he elevator broke down.
- 2/5
Had ants in the room and had to be switched twice that night.
- 4/5
Unfortunately they are going through a huge renovation so the lobby is out of commission as well as the elevator. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The overall experience was tainted by having to climb the stairs with my luggage and also not having a lobby to check in, get coffee, relax, etc. Felt as though they should've closed the whole property in order to do this renovation.
- 2/5
First off, they had no lobby for check in and the elevator was broken. Parking was horrible with construction items taking up most parking spaces. We had to check in where the staff entrance was which was tiny and unwelcoming for what we paid. The room was decent and clean though.
- 4/5
The hotel is in a pristine location -- quiet, easy to access and a short walk to a beautiful beach. The rooms were recently renovated so they're modern and clean, though I wish they had a microwave and a comfortable office chair. They offer fresh cookies at the front desk every afternoon for guests to snack on when they check in, and the employees are always friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is a typical hotel continental breakfast -- nothing special but a convenient way to fuel up for the day. Parking is $16 per day, which cuts into this hotel's overall value, but that's not uncommon for this area. Long story short: if you're visiting the San Diego area to enjoy the ocean, this is a great choice.
- 4/5
Recently remodeled seemed cheap. Hate the automatic lights in the room. Definitely not my style.
- 4/5
Nicely remodeled
- 3/5
I paid for a suite and got a standard room
- 5/5
The staff was amazing! I was very surprised how their renovation was dine. They did sn excellent job. The room was massive and the location is quite. For a Holiday Inn, this stay was amazing. The hotel is close to everything and the local beaches were a walk away. I highly recommend this hotel. I would definitely return. Thank you staff!
- 5/5
The hotel was really nice. The location couldn't have been any better. The only reason for the good ratings instead of excellent was the hotel is a little older and shows a little wear. I would stay there again.
- 2/5
Ants in the rooms
- 3/5
Room was clean, location was perfect for us because it was close to the race track
- 4/5
Excellent location, clean and comfortable. The room was huge. Staff was very helpful and courteous. The hotel is going through a rebranding / remodel and some areas are still in transition but the completed areas and rooms are great!
- 5/5
Had a great stay. Love when breakfast is included but would like to suggest a higher quality pancake mix & oatmeal. And, it was way too hot in the breakfast room. Thankfully, the staff opened a door after we asked. Why no A/C in there or the hallways?

Staff was great, says breakfast included and it was just a coffee bar,

Rooms have been renovated recently so were clean and updated. They are still working on pool area. Nice restaurants within walking distance. Staff very nice and helpful.

Location very good

Very good location. Room was clean. Breakfast was fine. But shower needs more pressure. It will take you longer to finish because the water has low pressure.
- 4/5
Terrific staff make you feel welcomed and like you’re home. Lovely hot breakfast in the morning with good coffee. Rooms were recently renovated. Bedding is luxurious. L fantasticocated on the quiet part of highway101 central to all the beaches.

First time here, but everything about the place is perfect. Check in was easy and very accommodating. The room ia spacious, very clean and has a cool mid-century vibe. Located very conviently to the beach, shopping and restaurants. Will be back for sure.

Clean quiet room

Location is excellent, ambiance is lacking. In renovations and change to a new owner. Haven’t worked out the bugs.
- 5/5
The property has been remolded. Excellent bed and decor.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, nicely renovated rooms. Clean.

I did not like that the area from the front desk to the elevator was dismal - looked like a back door entrance for staff. I did not like that the lounge chairs around the pool were all broken - seats blown out. I did like the renovated bathrooms. Breakfast was fair - dining room was dreary.
- 5/5
The location is excellent close to the beach train station freeway, and Del mar fair ground.
- 3/5
Updated and clean.

Our keycard was not working, we would have to wait for maintenance to come open the door each time. This was something they should have thought about before making rooms available for booking. It was an inconvenience that I would not want to experience again. The counters were sticky and the shower was not clean. There was also an awful stench coming from the room. Very disappointed.

Such a charming hotel! Not too big, just the right size for a cozy and relaxing stay. It’s been recently renovated with a stylish boho vibe that feels both fresh and welcoming. The breakfast was absolutely superb, and the hostess was so warm and attentive. The manager was also incredibly accommodating. Plus, it’s only a couple blocks from the beach! Perfect location and a truly wonderful experience overall. Highly recommend!

We enjoy our stay

Such a cute hotel

Staff was very helpful and friendly. That said, facility was filthy. Carpet was not vacuumed in halls the entire week we were there. Room was only clean twice in our 6night stay. The free breakfast area is an embarrassment to your company. Floors are so dirty they are sticky.

The property is being renovated which we were unaware of when we booked. The rooms are nice and the area is perfect for the beach, fair, and restaurants. The staff was helpful above and beyond.

Great location, charged for parking, nice room and solid breakfast

Thank you

We will definitely start here again. Very cozy and comfortable. They were in the middle of renovations but that didn’t interfere with our stay.

The property was under construction and we did not have internet
- 5/5
Outstanding love the location
- 5/5
We had an amazing stay there! Very comfortable clean and lovely decorated rooms ! The location ois 5 min walk to the beach and also surrounded by short walk. To the restaurants ! Great location from Del Mar !

Its great!

The hotel has new updates to it. The outside is bland. Needs improvments.
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay, there was an error with our booking and they made it up to us. The rooms are remodeled. They are very nice, clean and spacious. The customer service was great as well. The kids enjoyed the pool and spa.
- 5/5
Most is newly renovated. Nice little pool area close to the beach, great little Italian restaurant next door, convenience store just a short walk
- 5/5
Excellent
- 3/5
No WiFi, no exercise room and the ice machine required an elevator and stairs to access the pool area. I book a room for their advertised amenities and they failed to provide internet? $16 a day to park in a garage filled with construction materials, really? Charged full price for everything and IHG failed to provide advertised services. Not happy

This hotel is in the process of being renovated and it’s beautiful. The bathrooms are modern and light. Rooms are spacious. The decor is lovely. Amazing rooms for a good price. Close to The Belly Up venue too.

In the process of renovations that are very nice. It’s always hard to renovate hotel bathrooms but they did a very nice job!

Great stay

At the time of our stay the property was under renovation. This meant that there was some minor construction noise when we first arrived and there was a certain amount of circumnavigating that had to go into finding our way to the breakfast room on the second floor. The parking lot was also being used in part as a transitory holding area for new and old items moving in and out (toilets, night stands, etc.). That being said, we had a wonderful stay. The upgrade to the decor is very cool and charming. I loved the design and color/pattern choices for the furniture, curtains, wall paper, etc. My favorite part is the tangerine subway tile in the bathroom! Even with the items being stored in the parking lot, there was plenty of parking. The pool was not huge, but had the fun element of being on the second floor patio. The elevator is outdated and a bit rumbly, but in a charming sort of way. Perhaps it will also receive a facelift at some point in the remodel. We were able to walk to a local convenience store for snacks and catch a Lyft to the Del Mar Fairgrounds for the event we attended. All in all this was a quaint, lovely, and well-located hotel, and is bound to be even more lovely once the renovation dust settles.

Would’ve been nice to get a little discount for putting up with the remodel
- 2/5
furniture old, molding were rotten thru, bath tub stained view out window looked like the dump with all their remodel stuff
- 2/5
I wish they would have mentioned about construction
- 5/5
Excellent hotel and distance from the Belly Up Tavern. Would definitely stay again.
- 4/5
Was an ok stay. They were remodeling.
- 5/5
When I checked in they were doing renovations and switched me to a renovated room 🙌 the bed was so comfy and the breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I’ve had!! They had everything 😍 I would definitely stay there again!

Buyer beware. They are remodeling but don't tell you until you check in that you will need earplugs for construction noise. Cracked tub, door handle that literally fell off and a broken lamp greets you on arrival. Unfriendly staff don't care and it is old. dirty and dingy, nothing like photos.
- 2/5
They have water damage and leaks through the inside property and exterior areas that are visible such as the patio. If they successfully complete the renovations this place could be a great spot along with location. We were placed in an older room and smelled wet, very dated looking. We were able to speak to the persons and the front desk and made further accommodations. I will say the front desk staff was excellent in handling the situation and moving us to another room. All around the cleaning crew, breakfast organizer crew all very friendly and helpful.
- 5/5
A little gem. Rooms are refurbished. Really lovely place.
- 1/5
That place was under complete construction. The elevator broke down halfway through the day they shut off the water. The carpets were absolutely horrendously dirty. There were no curtains on the windows and no one anywhere in the registration process ever mentioned this hotel was under renovation. It was horrible.
- 5/5
The renovations are very nice. Breakfast was good too! I just didn't like our view of the rental car business next door.
- 1/5
The property is falling apart and the front desk is pretty rude. They charge you upfront for incidentals and takes almost 2 weeks to get back.
- 1/5
When I checked in no hot water for 2 days . I had a flood in my house snd booked this hotel and had no time to change hotel. Construction literally next to my room and the carpet was filthy , elevator broken snd needs to be fixed . The hotel should not be open during this full remodel. Very loud snd dirty . When you book the hotel it needs to say under full construction and loud and working on the weekends. Could not sleep or relax at all .

I booked this hotel through Expedia, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. Upon entering the room, I noticed a strong moldy smell, but I didn't think much of it until I took off my shoes and realized the carpet was completely wet. There was no visible leak, but the dampness made the room very uncomfortable. I reported the issue to the front desk, but the staff member told me she couldn’t do anything since I had booked through Expedia. While I understand it was a budget-friendly option, I expected at least a clean and dry room. Unfortunately, I chose not to stay here again. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless management addresses these issues.

Renovating. Needs it badly
- 5/5
When the renovations are completed, the property will increase in value given it's location. All employees we met were cheerful and engaged, reflecting wonderful managememt.
- 5/5
Carpet is worn, but it appears to be in the process of being replaced. Some nice restaurants/bars nearby. I recommend the hotel.

This property is under construction and the interior is not in any condition to have guests. I checked and and then left 10 minutes later. The hallway carpet was filthy and the rooms were run down, dark and obviously being prepped for painting etc. with chips everywhere and spackling all over the walls. I wouldnt have booked this property if i had known the current state. I moved to a nearby hotel.
- 3/5
heater was noisy tv remote did not work. it was never resolved after 2 days.
- 5/5
We had tickets to the Belly Up. This hotel was just a 10 minute walk. It is also right on a nice bike path near the coast. Check in was easy and breakfast was plentiful.
- 5/5
It was so quiet and calm and very little, if any noise from outside could be heard. The complimentary breakfast was simple, yet delicious. Staff in charge of the small kitchen were most polite and very professional and always was quite helpful, should a person require any assistance or help with actually anything, they tried to help each of us in a special way.
- 2/5
The people that work here were absolutely amazing. They went out of their way to help. Unfortunately the hotel was being renovated and it was a total mess. Our carpet was wet the whole entire time. The elevator was broken part of the time. It was just really old and does need updating.
