Smithfield Station is great for a weekend getaway. The restaurant serves delicious food and has a great Sunday breakfast buffet.

Lovely facilities, wonderful, friendly staff and the perfect location. Be sure to make reservations in advance for the wonderful Sunday brunch. Can't wait to return when we have more time to explore the City.

Location. Excellent access to historical area. Not enough lighting in room. Homes in historical area don't have placards on most houses discussing the history.

Room was fabulous. Very comfortable and spacious. Had 2 sitting chairs vs 1 so you glboth could sit somewhere other than the bed. The balcony was small but perfect size for 2 chairs. That was also a plus when most places don’t offer a balcony anymore. Bathroom had plenty of counter space to spread stuff out. The bed was cozy and the electric fireplace was awesome ambiance. The free breakfast was perfect for a quick bite before you start your day. We also had dinner one night at the restaurant on premises and it was very good with great service. Close to little Main Street which was nice to walk around and grab a bite to eat and see art and some shops. Only thing we didn’t like was there was a beer and wine festival the weekend we were there and they said it might have been mentioned on their website but they should tell you that when you book especially based on the nightly rate. The group next door to us got in a huge fight and it was a lot of loud and drunk people so not the best atmosphere for a romantic getaway.

Didn’t offer a free breakfast on Sunday, but had a breakfast buffet. Price was reasonable, food choices good, omelet station was great, and staff was very attentive.

Quietest motel we've ever stayed in. Truly relaxing. The weekend brunch was terrific, but the weekday continental breakfast could use some work. It was just not up to par for such a great motel and restaurant.

L it was nice It’s an order place, which is fine. Carpets are soaking wet.

Hotel is a bit tired. Room was so crowded with furniture that it was difficult to move around. Porch door is glass without blackout shade so the outside night lighting flooded the whole room all night. Internet was out the whole time we were there so no tv or wifi. Front desk was unwilling to make any adjustments at check out.

Our room was on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the marina. The room was larger than most with a fireplace and great view of the marina. The bathroom was very large. This room had a large king size bed which was very comfortable. The property had a very nice restaurant. We would definitely stay here again.

The property is in a beautiful location in walking distance to the main part of town and across from a large public park with a wonderful walking trail. Events for a wedding were being held on the property which made parking for hotel guests very limited.

It was fantastic. There is construction right in front of the hotel. The bridge is being redone so it is not very quiet on the balconies during the day, but the inside the room was quiet. The service was great. The view was amazing. The whole property was very clean. The hotel is easily within walking distance of the town.

Lovely room with a view but the humidity made it smell and everything was horrendously damp. In addition it was a 5 minute battle to open the door every time. We should have declined our room but it was late and we had no other options realistically.

Beautiful place for a relaxing weekend. The restaurant's food was delicious. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were very pleasant. The room and bathroom were large. We enjoyed our balcony overlooking the boats, Honestly, there wasn't anything we did not like.

Very pretty room, very clean, great location, beautiful view from the balcony. We enjoyed the footbridge and walk in the wooded park not far from the hotel. Very nice staff at the hotel and at the restaurant. We hope to come back sometime. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable- very soft mattress with some lumpiness. I ended up sleeping on the floor on a blanket (I have back problems so I may have been overly affected by the soft mattress).

Layed back stay is not ocean front so do jot expect the sandy beaches but this was a wonderful stay to relax, slow down and enjoy life. All of the staff were super nice and accommodating to us. The rooms were very clean and spacious verses a normal hotel room.

Beautiful location and stay. Missed the fireworks on 4th of July weekend. About an hour away from Va Beach. Will be back in the near future and check out local shops and historic sites.

Booked the traditional king room with balcony. It was lovely & peaceful watching the activities on the river. (Bring binoculars if you enjoy looking for birds.) Access to Windsor Castle Park, a lovely park with trails, play areas, and historic buildings, is right across the street. Room was nicely appointed with a roomy bathroom and wonderful shower. Bed was especially comfortable--and the pillows were great! Breakfast was hearty with lots of offerings including real eggs and delicious bacon. Friendly staff & easy check in. Note there is no elevator.

Great staff. So friendly and accommodating. We requested a pack and play and it was all set up in the room upon our arrival. Forgot a toothbrush, and they gave us one, no problem. My grandson woke up early and the staff gave her Cheerios before the breakfast opened. Also requested hot sauce, they went and found some in the back. So nice!!! Great customer service.

We spent the night in a room (203) with a broken bed - when we shared that with the front desk at check out - no apologies or attempt to accommodate us in any way were offered- just that the room was already assigned for that night and they would need to fix it for the next customer.

We slept well because the bed so comfortable and cozy. Everything was beautifully thought out and well taken care of. We went to the bar for drinks, and everything we ordered to eat in the restaurant was simply delicious. We will be back!

This was our second visit. Nicely appointed room, clean, view of the small marina. Really great walking trail across the street in Windsor Castle Park with lovely views of the local creek and river. We thorougly enjoyed our time in Smithfield. And Smithfield Station was the perfect place to stay. Beautiful water views from the room, large rooms and very clean. The restaurant onsite was excellent with panoramic water views. Walked to several shops and eateries in historic downtown. We hope to come back again soon.

This property was so noisy it was impossible to sleep. The rooms sit over a restaurant and bar, so all of that noise filtrates up to the rooms. Also, when you walk it, the place wreaks of disinfectant, but the place was dirty. I asked for a quiet room and the rude hotel staffer was really nasty and then put me next to the ice maker and stairs. Everyone uses the stairs because there is not an elevator.

Smithfield Station is a quaint hotel right on the water. My room had a balcony overlooking the boat dock. It's a beautiful setting. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. Parking was easy. The restaurant is right next door, great food.

We had a great stay. Our room looked out on the River which was lovely, we even saw a bald eagle! Staff were great. There's a nice wine shop on premises and a good restaurant. Easy walk to the main street of Smithfield.

Smithfield is a great little town and I look forward to heading back that way soon! The hotel is right on the water. The staff at the hotel, restaurant and bar were all great and very welcoming. Easy walk from hotel to the Main shopping area and the Windsor Castle Park. Wish it hadn't rained, but they can't control the weather! We will be back!

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Everything was very clean, and the hotel was within walking distance of town. There wasn’t an elevator though and the stair noise was a little loud. Otherwise, this was a great hotel!

We loved how quiet and relaxing it was. I loved how the linens had a nice smell (other then normal bleach). But if you want to see the town don’t go on Sunday. It is all closed.

Did not Like: Incense smell in elevator/lobby, employees smoking in front of the lobby entrance, wish that staff was more knowledgeable about other sightseeing in surrounding areas.

The restaurant was excellent and the free voucher for the Sunday buffet was awesome. I will be coming back soon. This was a great stay ......

Cute, quaint, comfortable, quiet. Everything you want in a seaside hotel. Bathrooms are very small so keep that in mind. Would definitely stay again.

This is a unique and quaint hotel in Smithfield overlooking a marina. Check in was a breeze and the staff was very friendly. We stayed down the way from the check in lobby in the 3rd flor overlooking the mania. Nice view. (Note to get to the room you must enter the restaurant and walk up the 2 flights to the 3rd floor). The room featured wood paneling and was well appointed. The beds were quite comfortable and the room looked newly renovated. Take a walk along the docks, go for a swim in the pool and have a bite at the restaurant (We had a shrimp over potato pancake app with old fashions. Both were excellent). Bottom line, we enjoyed our one night stay and even though it did not have an elevator I give it 5 starts .

Positives: nice location on the water, friendly staff, generous continental breakfast, visually appealing lobby, lovely view of the Pagan River, decent balcony, lots to do in the area/easy access to Windsor Castle Park Negatives/Overpriced (because): very strong mildew odor in the room and halls (probably the lobby too, but we were nearly choked out by the overpowering odor of multiple diffusers masking it), not clean-various hairs in the bathroom and stains in the tub, poor lighting in the room, dusty valences, room rather small, overall dated bathroom and decor, small room, easy to hear people in other rooms and hall. It just didn’t feel clean or relaxing.

All the rooms are facing the water, and most had a balcony. The restaurant connected to the hotel, and was easy to get to. The hotel was very accommodating and lacked for nothing in the rooms. The food at the restaurant was wonderful, as well as the service. Would definitely go back!
