Quality Inn Shallotte near Ocean Isle Beach

The hotel was a stopover before we got to our final destination. The king bed took up most of the room. Bathroom was big, and updated. Too bad the shower curtain had mold or mildew on it( gross). Staff was very nice, breakfast was simple, I wish there was some bacon or sausage and omelette, instead they had hard boiled eggs. We would find another property to stay in next time.

Room was very small, didn't merit the cost for it at all; comforter was stained on several spots, bathroom door stuck when you closed it; pillows were very flat and uncomfortable; didn't have enough towels in the bathroom and was given attitude when asking the front desk for more; parking was inadequate for the size of the hotel and number of guests it holds; front desk attendant made sarcastic remarks about my husband "whining" about the room location and wanting to be on first floor; very small pool; very disappointed and will never stay there again.

Plenty of parking. Only drawback was that there was a lot of construction on the road in front of the hotel, which made access almost impossible during rush hour. Not their fault. Highly recommend this hotel. Only a few miles from the beach.

Hotel room was clean and organized. The bed was super comfy and the morning breakfast was great as well. Only thing I can really say is small details matter and definitely would say they need to replace shower curtains. It had mold at the bottom of the curtain building up. Considering the curtains are of cloth I think they to be replaced pretty often. The staff were pretty decent didn’t really appreciate the worker rushing my family to hurry up while eating breakfast considering I have 2 kids especially a little that needs to be feed because he can’t alone yet.

Overall the hotel was fine, good pool area and the continental breakfast was fresh and readily available. However when asking. for additional towels the staff asked we turn in the dirty ones first. Never had that happen to me before.

Ran oit in the morning & returned at 1040 to get bags for check out and cleaning staff was ALREADY in my room "cleaning"..

Good proximity to Ocean Isle. Pool was clean. Bed was comfortable Air conditioning was up and down.

The hotel was nice and quiet and was close to restaurants and shopping. I had a very pleasant stay.

The absolute BEST hotel experience I have had during extensive travel for the past 3 weeks! Head and shoulders above the rest. Highly recommend. Helpful and friendly staff, extremely clean in all areas of this facility. Looks brand new. Breakfast is just 'continental' meaning only highly processed carbohydrates so it did not work for me as I am on a no processed foods/diabetic food plan that requires actual protein. If that is your need you will find nothing you can eat. That is typical in my experience in hotels at this price range so I don't fault them for it.

Don’t stay here. Room had ac problem which was quickly fixed but then later found out toilet didn’t flush in the middle of the night and there was what appeared to be blood on the toilet. Decided then I would not being staying the 2nd night we booked there. 7am I was up and getting out of there. Told front desk about the toilet and blood issue as I was checking out, since I was not about to tell them in the middle of the night while my family is sleeping and have someone come in the room to try and fix it. Well hotel management would not atleast issue a credit for the 2nd night that we would not be staying there. Checking out at 7am gives ample time for your hotel to actually clean and repair your issues and still rent the room out again. But instead keeping my $200 was more important then keeping a customer happy and doing the right thing. I was willing to lose $200 to not stay there another night if that shows how bad this hotel really is.

I asked him do you have customers plunging their own toilets and he said yes. Unbelievable! He then came to the room and plunged it and it worked for awhile. But, it would flush consistently. Then the air would not come on and we had to call again for him to reset it in order for it to work.

Breakfast was very good. There were enough options to get you started for your day. There was plenty of room to sit and enjoy your breakfast. In my opinion, I think it would be nice if the breakfast was open until 10 or 1030 for people who are there on a vacation that do not have to get up so early.

Breakfast was very basic cereals, bread, toast and Waffle. So if you love carbohydrates, it's the place to be. Could use some scrambled eggs, or sausages. Very clean.

They apparently didn't transfer the message over about late arrival when I spoke to the first person that told me to book an extra day to arrive the next morning at like 8am. The front desk lady contacted and checked me on in was wonderful and apologized that she wasn't informed. Small room. Not very much space at all to move around.

Also, the floors were filthy! The refrigerator rocked when opening the door and one of my drinks spilled on the floor. When I wiped it up, I couldn’t believe how dirty the towel was. You can to be very, very careful when opening the refrigerator. And, the toilet wouldn’t flush unless we took the top off the tank and pushed the button from the inside. We were greatly disappointed.

I went down to the desk to ask for it to be replaced, which it was very quickly... however there was a stain on the white blanket I could see from across the room as the housekeeper made the bed. She tucked the stain so it wasn't visible, but she definitely saw it. When she left the room I checked and it was several small spots of blood... like maybe someone had picked a scab, but it definitely was fresh and had not been washed. I went down to the desk again and the attendant switched my room. Immediately upon entering it was very obvious the lampshade was broken, however the room was otherwise clean. I placed the lamp in a way that it was pinned holding the lampshade up and wouldn't be bumped because at that point I was afraid to ask for another room. In the middle of the night, I did get up to use the bathroom and the toilet did not have enough pressure to flush the urine and small amount of toilet paper. I ended up leaving it until morning and then it did flush, but not sure why it wouldn't overnight.

When I arrived to check in, the associate advised me there was a 100 dollar deposit that was cash only that I needed to stay there. I let them know nothing of this was mentioned in the itinerary, anything we read or anywhere on line, they then said it was at the managers discretion. I asked them if there ATM worked he said no,so I had to leave, drive about 5 minutes to go to an atm, then come back pay that before I could check in, I got it back the next morning, but it was the annoyance of not knowing, then having to leave to get cash. The bed in the room was very very hard, and the bathroom wasn't the cleanest.

For the price point, a very good value. Room was clean though one of the bath towels looked to be stained with something gross, I have no idea what but wasn't a good look. That was really my only compliant. Breakfast was decent and Staff was terrific. Very professional, helpful, and kind.

Not so Quality. The walls are paper thin and the door didn't fit properly in the jamb making it very difficult to open/shut the door and the bedspread was stained. Eww! The room was clean though and the staff was excellent. I don't know about the breakfast, but the coffee was average.

My room keys continuously malfunctioned and I was locked out of my room numerous times throughout my stay.

The bedspread had stains on it, the hvac unit went from heat to cool every 10 minutes warm air then ice cold air. Was uncomfortable in room.

The room was incredibly clean. The breakfast could be a bit better, but overall, a great choice for stay if you are heading into Ocean Isle. It is conveniently located and super clean.

The location was fine. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. I understand that there’s a time frame in place, but everything could still be stocked a little better and the fact that everything was shut down to include the lights in the breakfast room while there was still people there eating was very unprofessional and rude. Front desks staff (lady) on check out day was not very unprofessional. She definitely needs to work on her hospitality.

N/A The hotel was undergoing renovations which I was not made aware of but the hotel or the booking agency prior. The floor I was on had no carpet upon arrival and the people installing carpet were there banging on the floors until almost 10:00pm. The room was filled with dust due to the work being done and the banging was unacceptable. Then the following morning we had no water due to the city replacing a water valve that apparently was scheduled before hand but the hotel failed to notify us of that as well. The entire stay was unacceptable.

It was close to my destination, affordable, and clean. The rooms were clean but no curtains or shades to the windows. The row of bright, bright lights on the building beside the hotel shined in our room all night long keeping us from sleeping. If I stay here again we will ask for a room on the other side.

Not the property itself, but the other guests that wanted to party at 1:30. Front desk did handle but we ended up not getting back to sleep

I have an emotional support dog, and was not allowed in your hotel.

The hotel is located off of the service road that is easy to get to and near a major traffic light. We had quick access to a local road race at the beach. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and felt safe. The room had a door to adjoin to another room. That room had a family with young children and a lot of noise (baby crying, children being boisterous) that transferred through and under that door several times during our visit including at night. In the future, I would ask for a room that does not have an adjoining door.

Room is very small but was very clean. There are car charging stations in the parking lot but I could not get them to work for some reason. The guy that checked me in was very friendly and helpful.

Our room had a bad smell we reported next morning

A couple of guests were at the front desk waiting to check out. We waited about 10 minutes and then an employee came in from outside. He said he would have breakfast available in about 20 minutes. The 3rd floor was frigid. We turned our a/c off in our room for our entire 4 day stay and were comfortable. Not easily accessible and not a good parking situation.

The bed coverings were stained & didn’t look like they’ve been cleaned in months. There was long black hairs all over the room & towels. Adjoining room patrons kept their TV on at a loud volume all night & were not curious to other guests with noise.

Staff gave us a different room but after seeing that I was unsettled the rest of the evening Hotel used way to strong of floor cleaner, like trying to mask a smell but only made it worse

The guy working at night was unprofessional and refused to speak. One of our beds had blood stains on the comforter. If you stay here check the beds first. The woman was nice though when we checked out the next morning.

For the price of over $200 per night, the room itself was very tight without drawers or much in terms of amenities. There is not a fitness center etc, but the overall complaint I have, is the intense moldy. Mildew smell throughout the property and room to the point where my eyes started to burn and my nose was irritated. It felt damp and not comfortable.

The property smells awful like mold & mildew I had a hard time sleeping got up early to grab breakfast and the options were among the worst I have seen in a hotel breakfast and I don't expect much.

We were going to leave and go to a different hotel, but we would have lost the money we prepaid for 5 days.

The shelving unit was very dirty. The window curtains were in bad shape. The shower curtain still had a dirty hand print on it from the previous person who had the room before us. We were going to leave and go to a different hotel, but we would have lost the money we prepaid for 5 days.

Location and price was decent. Rooms were clean n cozy. I enjoyed the complimentary coffee. What I didn’t like was the hallways were in need of vacuuming and they were dark n cold. I enjoyed the stay though.

I had to change rooms twice because the first room was adjoining to another room and you could hear every step and every word. The second room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. But here’s the thing: the front desk man cheerfully and quickly switched rooms for me both times and I wound up in a really great room. My advice? Don’t hesitate to ask to be switched if your room is not good. This property aims to please, so let them.

The people were very friendly and the overall cleanliness was excellent. Decent breakfast with waffle maker, but would have liked a protein such as bacon or sausage offered. It is free, so I get it. Only knock on ned was it was too firm for me.

This would not be considered a 5 Star hotel, but it was clean and comfortable (especially the bed). The service was great!

Didnt have any problems most of our stay was ok except for the dog barking in the next room which the manager took control of it

Was a tad bit disappointed because when searching for a hotel and put pet friendly this hotel came up. When I got to the hotel, it said that only service animals were accepted. Being that my pet is an ESA I thought that wouldn’t be a problem. Unfortunately, when we went out to dinner and the dog started barking I got a call that he had to be removed. My dog Slept in the car overnight to avoid having to find another place to stay.

The door to the room didn’t lock vary well had to really pull or push it hard to get it to latch if didn’t pay attention it would have been left unsecured and all somebody would have to do is push the door it fly open and when you pay in cash they charge a $100 deposit for your stay that made me feel like they didn’t trust you as a customer was a little uncomfortable if your paying in cash they should know your not going to trash the place and be a valued customer because your paying in cash

We had roaches on the walls of our room. 3 small ones within an hour. The pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. The bathroom had dirt in all the corners. My door wouldn’t close properly and had to be bolted to stay shut. The staff was very nice but not much they can do with what they have to work with. Cancelled our future stay with them

Very old property & room was the size of a shoe box. Room heat/cooling system was ridiculous, kept flipping between hot & cold air. Breakfast is a joke, all sugar loaded high carb crap, NO protein! Coffee cups are about the size you'd get for a urine sample!

The door to the building didn’t actually lock even though there was a sign saying it was locked and had a broken card reader outside the door. The card reader on our room door also didn’t work properly. The walls were paper thin. It sounded as if the people in the next room were in the room with us. One bed had a nasty brown stain on the comforter.

It was very homey and the staff was enjoyable and pleasant.

First room tub had a lot of mold so I was given another room mold in that tub but not as bad. Room had a smell. I will not stay there again for any reason. Paid too much money for one night and the room was horrible

We’ve stayed here several times and it’s Ben clean quiet and satisfactory. Noise travels, which we were accustomed too, but this time, the whole 2nd floor smelled moldy and our room AC emitted an odor that smelled like a mix of cat urine with a bit of pine sol. Hallway carpet was loose and a falls hazard. These should be easy fixes.

Picked this motel because of price and what I thought was its central location to the island beaches. It was a drive of 15 or more minutes to get to those islands so we did a lot of driving in 5 days. Only one restaurant close enough to walk to. Our room was clean but very small. One wobbly desk chair to sit upon or the bed. Poor wifi. Lost connection every day. We sat by the clean outdoor pool everyday. Basically the motel was a place to sleep, wash and regroup for each day. Yes, free breakfast with fresh fruits, waffles and other sweets and cereals until 9:30am. Staff was extremely friendly and courteous.

We checked in in the very early AM the front desk was not very friendly at all. I was told the back door would need My key card to open, that wasn’t the case NO KEY NEEDED. The halls stunk and when We entered our room it smelled so musty. We saw brown on tv stand so I wiped it off it was gross, also something brown crusty on floor. Some of the front desk staff throughout stay were very friendly others not. Breakfast was very limited on choices. I asked for refund but they were going to charge Me for a night still so We settled to stay in a different room. It seemed some cleaner still smelled really bad We had to go buy air fresheners. I think it’s an ok place but for the price of this place You really don’t get much.

Worst experience ever. Checked into the room after midnight after driving many long hours (6 ) with two children…pulled the sheets back and BEDBUGS went to crawling. I immediately took pictures of them, then put them in a plastic cup and took them to the gentlemen downstairs. He moved our rooms. (My husband killed a roach in that room)… My eight month old came home covered head to toe in bites! (Also have picture proof) The front desk just say but we moved your rooms, being as the rooms rotate sheets/towels/etc not sure how bedbugs can be contained to one room…Since coming home I have not even brought our luggage in because I’m so concerned of transferring these disgusting critters into my home! I have tried reaching out to a manager, and have also emailed the facility concerning the matter but no one has reached back out to me. I have contacted their local health department and they assured me they would be following up with an inspection. Maybe that will get a response.

Property was in disrepair in several areas. Overwhelming smell of cat urine / ammonia, smoke detector chirped all night long, so no sleep. Was told there was coffee available 24/7 but the following morning, no coffee. Just overall bad experience - but staff were pleasant, at least.

It was very easy to get in and out of and to find dinner options as well as access to the hwy to travel. The staff is excellent! From checking in Tuesday until leaving Friday every single employee was fantastic!

Traveled with my spouse and two children. The two queen room was sufficient for our needs for four days. Location was ideal for traveling any direction. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful
