Stayed here for several nights while a family member had surgery at Harborview. The hotel is comfortable and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel and rooms are old, and it's a little noisy in the neighborhood. But it was great for what I needed and a reasonable price for Seattle.

OK, so for those of you who aren’t familiar with the bottom of hospital Hill, there are three old hotels (the Sorrento, the Inn at Virginia Mason and the Baroness)- all within half a city block of each other/across the street from each other. The rooms that seem the most outdated are at the Inn and the Baroness. The later of which used to be an apartment complex. If you’re into modern amenities and modern updated furniture none of these hotels are gonna do it for you. I hate to say it, but Wi-Fi it off three places is to be desired as well. If you want nostalgia only moderately overpriced, you’re gonna go to the Sorrento (it’s definitely more upscale ). If you’re on a budget, you’re gonna end up at the baroness or the Inn (but you’re gonna wanna make a trip to Sorrento/Stella for a bite) All that being said, the staff at the front desk and the café and restaurants at the Inn/Baroness (same management) have improved so much over the last three years that they are worth mentioning. I particularly found Dominic the lead front desk agent at the Inn/Baroness to be extremely helpful and was willing to deal with me me asking him to print out documents from my laptop and make copies for me and seemingly one million other things over the course of my stay. The Rho cafe is quaint with solid food and drinks, and a great coffee bar. The best part about being in any of these places is the price versus location. Quiet and safe and easy to get to all the Seattle destinations.

The biggest disappointment were the amenities. There were none. No front desk staff - you had to go across the street to another hotel to check in and check out. No breakfast room - again across the street. There was only one elevator which was very shaky. Cleaning staff was nice.

Built in 1931 the building is very old, has no A/C which was not an issue in late May Seattle. There was no in-house staff, help was available across the street in a partner hotel. There is a paid parking lot behind the hotel with about 20 spots, I was lucky to find one available when I needed it. I though this hotel would be convenient for my stay and allow me to walk to the Paramount Theater, unfortunately the walk had very steep inclines to and from.

Stayed for medical procedures nearby. Old building but very clean, comfy bed, and large room with microwave and frig. Small bathroom and no AC. At the top of a big hill so be aware if walking from Symphony Station. Otherwise very convenient to surgical centers and well priced for downtown.

No built in air unit of any kind, but there were a couple box fans that, when paired with an open window, fought off the stuffiness just fine.

Extremely handy to Virginia Mason medical complex. It is across from Inn at Virginia Mason, where The Rho cafe serves Mon-Fri 7am-9m - with friendly service, good food, super handy. All hotel staff from front desk to room cleaners were very friendly, helpful, efficient. Recommend this as a good place to stay for medical travel as well as just visiting Seattle.

Also the check-in procedures are unusual, there was no prior clarification about checking in at the property across the street which felt confusing and uncertain. TV barely had a dozen channels either. As it is right by the hospital, you do hear a lot of ambulance noise too - that one is sort of expected, but forewarning for anyone who sleeps lightly.

It was very nice for a 2 star hotel, the room was clean the check in and check out were easy, the only bad thing was the lobby was being touched up so it smelled of paint and it was messy, but other than that it was a good experience.

The staff was exceptional in providing me a beautiful suite with a gorgeous view of the Seattle skyline. I was there for my daughter’s kidney transplant surgery at Virginia Mason hospital so I very much appreciated the peacefulness the view provided. The room was clean, water was nice and hot for showers, the view was rejuvenating, and most of all the staff, including the Rho cafe, where friendly, professional, and extremely helpful in making our stay very pleasant.

Honestly I wasn’t sure if I would like this place. We went to super-cross at the Lumen field and this was the only cheaper hotel that was near by. I was worried it would smell old or maybe feel dirty, but my boyfriend and I both loved it here. It was older, but it didn’t smell old, and it was clean. The front desk was closed but it was a short walk directly across the street to check in. The elevator had a door to get into it, that was pretty cool. The room was large! We had a full sized fridge, a microwave, a stove, an oven, a living room, bedroom and a bathroom. The room also came with a fan. We opened up the window at night as it was a bit warm in our room, that cooled it down. I would 100% stay here again. It was around 1.5 miles or less to the lumen field. It wasn’t a bad walk. I’m glad we found this place, much cheaper than other nearby hotels!

We were on our own for meals however there were nice places to eat within a short walking distance. We had everything we needed at an affordable price. Nothing fancy but suited our needs as we were out and about most of the time. I had no problem. There were no vending machines and the laundry room was out of order. Fortunately ,I didn't need them. Had a good ice machine though.

The historical building was gorgeous and the location couldn’t have been better! First Hill is a super safe and nice part of town with little traffic noise compared to downtown, and super convenient to the bud routes to get downtown and elsewhere in the metro area! I loved how big the space was, especially for the price. I did not expect a full living room and kitchen, let alone a walk in closet! I will definitely be staying here for future travels. It would have been nice to know that checking in after hours required going to the lobby across the street, but the signs were helpful so it wasn't too bad!

Appreciated the historic aspect to the building and its retention of its 1970s decor. Also met one of the cleaning staff who was adorably kind and cordial (as was all the staff) I don't want to complain because the price is in accordance with the accommodation. TV service is very limited.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!!!!! I stayed there for a medical procedure at a medical center right across the street. That is the ONLY redeeming feature of this hotel..which by the way has WONDERFUL POTENTIAL!!! LONG LISTI I paid $172 + per night to stay here. I don't think Goodwill would have even accepted the furniture. The heating system was 'almost' laughable. Mid November my room was freezing cold and I could feel a draft on the floor. You had to get down on your knees to turn a knob that was not well marked to regulate the heater. The heat was a combination of baseboard...with the face plates literally falling off and register panels. The heat didn't go on until the next morning. The appliances included a 'cooking station' probably from the 50's with an electric stove top with 4 burners and a REAL OVEN mounted on top. The station had a laminated sign that warned this entire unit not functional. Please 'enjoy' the adjacent microwave and fridge. There is more but I'll stop here. Overall the condition was beyond 'deferred maintenance'. More like 'in a state of progressive deterioration'. It's sad because the hotel has an 'art deco' vibe and could be updated to at least 'reasonable' accommodations. Especially so close to a major medical center. Shame on the owners. Important...the staff were wonderful in spite of the resources they had to work with.

The biggest pro of this hotel is the proximity to Virginia Mason. It is an older building with no air conditioning. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is quieter than its sister hotel, the Virginia Mason Inn, across the street, and has an art deco look. The room still had the original oven and stove. So cute. The room got uncomfortably warm that the windows had to be cracked open.

The hotel itself is okay at best, good distance from things in Seattle. I assure you it isn't worth it for the lack of amenities and the price. The staff was nice, but definitely understaffed since I had to check out accross the street at a sister hotel? in the morning. Payed 219 for a single night, and forced to pay a 100 dollar deposit. Which I think is quite pricey compared to the airport options. Really my biggest gripe is that they charged me the deposit saying there was smoke damage. I don't smoke to begin with, but I'm not dumb enough to do it indoors. No communication I was going to be charged either. I'm not sure if this is some kind of scheme, but it's kind of baffling. I wasn't even in the room for a full 12 hours. I'll update this review after their 'investigation'. Really at the end of the day it's just not worth the headache, hotel deposits are already suspicious.

Very old/outdated rooms. Smelled like someone had smoked in the room or on the furniture for decades. Beds were thankfully clean. No AC but plenty of windows. Kitchen appliances looked like they were from the 60’s as did the bathroom and furniture.

The room was well kept. The staff was very friendly. Check in was a bit difficult because the front desk at the Baroness was not staffed. You had to cross the street to check in at "The Inn", which is a sister property. This meant either carting your luggage with you to another building, or having someone wait with the luggage while someone else checked in across the street. It's a minor annoyance. Due to the property being in a downtown location, there is a lot of activity nearby, including in the middle of the night. My wife was awakened twice in the middle of the night - once by a mentally ill homeless person who was screaming at no one in particular and a second time by a couple having an argument. Building security is excellent so we felt completely safe in our room. Walking around during the day also felt completely safe. The room was very clean. The bathroom was small but functional. The building does not have A/C so the room was warm, which impacted our sleep. My wife and I both like to sleep cold, so the warmth of a 73 degree day might not impact other visitors. A hot summer day would likely be miserable. The mattress was also not the most comfortable. It wasn't bad, just not as nice as home. The room was advertised as having a Queen size bed. The bed in our room seemed smaller, so maybe it was a double instead of a queen. The rate we paid was very good, especially for downtown Seattle. The convenience to Virginia Mason hospital couldn't be better.
