Reviews
The hotel is generally well-liked for its cleanliness, comfortable beds, and helpful staff. It is praised for its proximity to the University of Washington and various dining options. However, some guests find the location unsafe at night and the lack of certain amenities, such as an elevator and air conditioning, inconvenient. The shared bathroom situation is also a point of contention for some guests.
- Cleanliness
- Comfortable beds
- Unsafe location at night
- Lack of certain amenities (elevator, air conditioning)

Staff was friendly and helpful. Beds were deliciously comfortable. I appreciated that they had both firm and fluffy pillows and soft cotton sheets. The room was pretty. We were not bothered at all by sound from the neighborhood pub downstairs (I was worried when I saw it, but it was not a problem at all). I will definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
otherwise this was good for me as it was close to the Neptune, other shops and places to eat and the light rail line. Thank you.
- 4/5
Location to University, unique historic charm Staff was nonexistent to inquire about things but texting was responsive; lacked personal touch. Euro-bath was sometimes awkward to get use to
- 5/5
Cool spot, will stay again
- 4/5
Bathroom - could have been better
- 5/5
*Great* location. Lovely pub! Perfect all around for our needs. Nothing -- all was good.
- 5/5
I had a great stay at College Inn Hotel. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was very convenient. The overall atmosphere made the stay relaxing and enjoyable. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
- 5/5
Really cool place!
- 5/5
It was very cozy and a great location
- 5/5
easy, good location
- 4/5
Lots of stairs to take luggage to room
- 5/5
Easy check in and check out. Completely contactless. Which helped as we had very late arrival and early departure
- 4/5
Location is what this was all about. The Hotel is an Historic one so shows some loving wear. I liked the ease of access and location. I had a shared bathroom and it worked out fine but is not my usual comfort zone. Clean and easy access though.
- 5/5
Great location, clean room , and promptly responded to my message.
- 4/5
The location was great. I had some difficulty with the front door code.
- 5/5
You can’t go wrong with the College Inn. It’s closer to UW campus than my Husky’s dorm! The staff are kind and responsive. It has an amazing, huge loft common area with comfy seating areas, big tables, fridge, sink, and coffee/tea,
- 5/5
Free coffee and tea upstairs and rooms have smart tv’s so you can watch what you want. Plus, the price is always very good.
- 4.5/5
The hotel location was excellent. It was 5 to 7 minute walk from the nearest station. There were many restaurants and shops around the hotel and the area was also clean. There was not much we didn't like. However, if the hotel room had a little fridge, it would have been quite useful.
- 5/5
Everything was great
- 4/5
It was all electronic. Check in and checking out. They give you pass codes. For a country person that was new to us. It was clean, staff was nice and helpful. Good place to stay.
- 5/5
Good place to rest at the end of the day if you're on the go! It's cozy, but not bad. Also in a great location for walkability.
- 5/5
A nice place to rest at the end of the day if you're on the go! By plenty of great food options as well as transportation.
- 2.5/5
Bed was comfy, pillows were very soft and room was clean and had a sink with towels and robe. No elevator. Shared bathrooms. Have to be quiet. Staff overly followed up after my stay with multiple emails, got defensive when I didn’t rate them higher, including a phone call after I had asked them to stop contacting me by email and a snarky follow up email that they had stopped contacting me even though I had various email messages and a phone call before they quit.
- 4/5
Just what I needed for a short trip near campus.
- 5/5
Easy to get to and centrally located; wonderful historical hotel, with photos of earlier days to imagine it then. I liked the safety of the locked front door, the comfortable bed! My room was roomy and had a sink and desk, nice view, the upstairs coffee and tea area with tables and comfy furniture was great for quiet work from laptop. I appreciated the kitchen facilities. I’d been a little worried about the shared bath but it was very doable without many other guests (and keypad provided security). Shower was great.
- 5/5
The decor, -the staff were friendly attentive, it's a quiet and quite nice place to stay... idk it's a lovely place. Can't think of a single thing. Lol.
- 4/5
Very nice hotel - we really enjoyed our stay - we will definitely stay there again. Staff were really friendly and accommodating- great location. I have no hesitation in recommending the Collage Inn. It is not the Hilton for sure but that is why we enjoyed it so much
- 5/5
Hey o lets Go
- 5/5
It was a clean, nice room in a very cute building. The European style room with shared bathroom was no problem at all. The upstairs loft was the best part about this stay.
- 5/5
Unusual entry
- 5/5
Great experience
- 5/5
The room, the restroom, and the rest are clean. The staff in person was great and the one on the phone was kind and helpful. The service was excellent. The location is close to the Hospital, the UW. The university is right there and markets and restaurants around the area. I would highly recommend.
- 2/5
room was not ready when we arrived even though we arrived a few hours after even late check out. building was not as advertised.
- 5/5
Rooms were very functional and cozy!
- 5/5
Nice comfy room with old European style as described; bed was quality and had the necessary amenities.
- 4/5
My 3rd time staying here. The location is in proximity to the University and the hotel itself is clean and charming. My original room (#201) was just above the Pub kitchen exhaust vent and it is fairly loud. Worse, if you try and open the window the smell will come directly into the room. I made this known to the staff and I was very pleased that they we're able to move my room, as I like to sleep with the window open.
- 5/5
Good room
- 3/5
Amenities needed some work
- 4/5
The room was nice. Hostel style with shared bathroom was something I hadnt done in a long time but the bathroom was spotless. On hitch was I did not receive my check-in code prior to arrival but service was quick to rectify.
- 3/5
Parking lacked. Had to do public pay parking which was difficult to find in the dark Then had to walk the few blocks back to the inn. Room and bed comfortable. Quiet.
- 2.5/5
No air-conditioning
- 3.5/5
Shared bathroom
- 5/5
We will be back, Paul and Jan Carrow
- 5/5
It was beautiful. Very cozy. Loved the window seat and being able to open it for fresh air. Also loved the stained glass and the loft. Nothing
- 5/5
Rooms are nice! Staff has great service!
- 5/5
Best kept secret in Univ Dustrict?
- 4/5
Room was clean and quiet. Walking distance to eat.
- 5/5
The room was rather simple but clean and comfortable. Hot coffee was available even in the evening in the common kitchen area. The location is very convenient for visiting UW, the surrounding area is vibrant but not too noisy, yummy food at reasonable prices in walking distance. There was one gotcha moment for us, we didn't have an unlock code to open the entrance door on arrival and there was nobody at the front desk. I searched for the code everywhere on my cellphone, but nothing. We quickly gave up, called the front desk number and a friendly staff came down to help, and that turned out to be the right thing to do. When we made a reservation we chose to pay on arrival, and the code was issued only after the staff scanned my credit card. If you experience something similar, just call.
- 5/5
Clean room near UW. Make sure to get parling if you need it.
- 5/5
Awesome!
- 4/5
Great location and cute room. Did not know it was a shared bathroom down the hall. However, bathroom facilities were super clean. Walls amd floors very thin so a bit noisy. Thankfully guests were quite respectful of eachother and not a big deal. Nice place overall
- 5/5
The best place to stay if attending a UW event. Hands down. N/A
- 5/5
We loved our stay at this historic Seattle hotel. Definitely not a cookie cutter chain hotel experience! Very affordable and easy to get to via the light rail.
- 5/5
The customer service was excellent. I loved the free drinks and comfort of the beds. We’ll stay there again.
- 5/5
The collagen is clean and quiet with historical art on the walls. There is no elevator, but it’s an old historic building that has great charm.
- 5/5
#1
- 4/5
We stayed here to take a tour of U of W. Enjoyed the location and the room was comfortable.
- 4/5
Cozy and nicely updated rooms. Was very quiet and the loft was a nice place to relax and have a cup of coffee or tea. We stayed for an appt at the University of Washington hospital and the location is great. You could definitely walk to the hospital from the hotel. Beds were comfortable and rooms had everything you needed. The parking isn’t very convenient and it’s a very busy area with college students. There isn’t air conditioning or stairs but the rooms have ceiling fans and oscillating fans as well. The stairs weren’t an issue for us but could be if you had mobility issues.
- 5/5
They don't have someone at the front desk. Text them and they will come down and let you in, and set you up so you can enter on your own once you commit to staying. The place doesn't have any elevators so be aware of this if it's an issue.
- 5/5
Too many texts and emails ahead of the visit. I got 18 emails and 5vtexts, most giving the same information. Getting in the door for check in was confusing.
- 5/5
Yes, and parking was interesting lol
- 5/5
This is the hotel most convenient to the University of Washington and that adds great value. The double room with sink snd shared bath was comfortable and clean. There are lots of student eateries, but one needs to get an Uber for finer dining.
- 5/5
Great Place to stay in Seattle or surrounding area. Not too bad but a lot to do and quick apparel options. Highly recommended for those who are looking for a quick and fast paced travel.
- 5/5
Walking distance to UW stadium and campus. Lots of places to eat. Great stay overall!
- 4/5
Rooms were quaint yet cozy thou no AC so had to rely on fans to stay cool. Shared bathroom and showers were kind of meh though in suite lav sink was there for brushing of teeth n grooming. Would repeat as it is in a great location away from dt and limited exposures to sketchy crowds as mostly students living nearby.
- 4/5
Unique hotel experience. Not the best to have to schlep suitcases up and down as there is no elevator
- 5/5
Hotel staff are really friendly and helpful! Just right on the corner of the campus, close to all facilities. Recommend to parents or short term visitors for sure!
- 4/5
The reception was very kind and helpful even during late night check in. The top floor common area was very nice with free water and coffee. I wish they had a hair dryer in the room.
- 4.5/5
It’s was good and clean Sharing bathroom.
- 4/5
We upgraded to the bedroom with the bathroom and the room was super cute. It was clean. One thing we didn’t like was no AC just a fan but it wasn’t terrible. Everyone was friendly.
- 5/5
You can’t beat the proximity to UW main campus and the Link.
- 4.5/5
Super cute! Right next to a Café and in a pretty safe area. They mentioned no AC in the email after I already bought the stay. Probably a fault of the booking website I used and not the property. But it was extremely hot. They did provide fans and we brought a couple of our own so it worked out eventually. I was also very confused about parking. I ended up having to park somewhat illegally but no ticket so hooray.
- 5/5
Very cozy and nice, extremely convenient near the Rail Station and nearby eats! I will say the extra fans provided really helped and staff went above and beyond to help us even after hours when its just for emergencies. We really appreciated that, will definitely be staying here again in the future.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 4/5
It is a quaint place to stay. It is an extremely convenient, walkable and a quiet location. Using a pass code to enter the inn and our room was awesome. The upstairs common area with kitchenette facilities was a unique and very convenient surprise touch. The one drawback for me was the thin walls and being awakened at 6 am on a Sunday morning by some loud person banging shower doors as they got ready in the morning.
- 1/5
Housekeeper walked into our room while
- 3.5/5
No air conditioning, not that it needed it, but the room was pretty hot when I got there and it took a while for it to cool off.
- 5/5
I stayed in a room with the bathroom down the hall. During my 3 day stay there no one else was in the bathroom while I was using it so it felt like my own large bathroom! The loft on the 4th floor provided a kitchen with full size frog and all the needed kitchen items, much better than what is available at a motel!
- 5/5
College Inn Hotel is exactly what it claims to be. There were no surprises for us. The room was nice, the beds were comfortable, and the fresh air with open windows at night was perfect. We never encountered anyone in the bathroom and enjoyed having our own sink, towels, and blow dryer in bedroom. The location was perfect for our needs. Thank you!
- 1/5
There was a tower air cooler/vent in the room, the filter probably has never been replaced, you could see large chunks of dust abd debris. The carpet looked very dirty and had black smudges on it. It was a very difficult and disturbing stay for me. The only benefit it had was it’s location as I had an interview with UW. They should definitely consider closing the hotel a couple of months and seriously renovate the building. Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.
- 5/5
Super cute right in the heart of the U district
- 5/5
No central air but the quality is great. Friendly staff and quality materials around you.
- 0.5/5
No air conditioning, no screens on windows, no elevator… all of which is billed as “European style” rather than being clearly communicated. The manager, Michael, was very unpleasant to deal with.
- 4/5
Perfect place to stay for UW campus visit!
- 5/5
It was great!
- 4/5
Nice and clean
- 5/5
Great location. Cute hotel. Check-in was a little confusing as you cannot enter the hotel without someone letting you in which is kind of unusual but once we understood that it was all good. The room was nice and very comfortable. The shared bathroom was no issue.
- 4/5
It is a beautiful hotel in a good location. ONLY FOR YOUNGER PEOPLE. There is NO ELEVATOR. We had a TON of luggage we had to carry upstairs. No where downstairs to store luggage. Was comfy, pretty, and safe. No AC but the windows were nice and cool. Ran by college students.
- 5/5
It was very quiet and peaceful, close to shopping too.
- 5/5
Great service and location!
- 4/5
It would have been helpful to have known there was no lift available as 2 of our group of 5 had a very difficult time with handling the stairs.
- 5/5
I liked that it was on the canpus so it was near a lot of places to get food and transportation.
- 4/5
This is a great, historic hotel!
- 4/5
Comfortable beds and great location for university of Washington visit,
- 5/5
Convenient
- 4/5
There’s no private restroom and elevator. I understand. Btw. Every time we walk by the window , the floor is squeaking.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, historic building with lots of character, conveniently located near the University of Washington
- 4/5
This is a delightful, old-fashioned inn. Although the property is old it is in good condition ( except for creaky floorboards). Everything has been updated and even the shared bathroom is sparkling clean. The location is great: just around the corner from the Meany Center. It would not be accessible for someone with major mobility problems, but otherwise it's a great choice.
- 5/5
Very cute

- 5/5
Plan to stay here again
- 5/5
We lived the comfortable bed and luxurious bed linens as well as the small but functional bathroom. The coffee shop just outside the front door has great coffee and Ye College Pub was fun with good drink choices.
- 4/5
Unexpected that it was a hotel with shared bathrooms, didn't realize this was the case when I booked. Excellent location, right at the end of the U of W campus. Pub, restaurants, and coffee below the hotel. Uses a pin to get into the front door and your room (rather than card keys). Microwave and fridge available in the common space. Relatively low cost. No frills, great for a singlr traveler with twin bed options. Not your typical hotel, there are a few trade offs that, in my opinion, are well worth it for a business trip.
- 5/5
Great place, thank you!
- 2/5
The bedroom was nice and clean, but it did not have a bathroom inside the bedroom. There was a shared bathroom at the other end of the hallway, which made it very uncomfortable. It didn’t have an elevator either and it was very difficult to get the luggage to the 3rd floor. There was no air conditioning either. In other words, I wish it was more clearly specified when I made the reservation because I would never had booked something so inconvenient.
- 5/5

- 1/5
This hotel is so bad, no bathroom,it’s so inconvenient, you need to the public bathroom at night, and the door couldn’t closed well, so scared. And the price was different with my order, I didn’t know why it was?
- 3/5
I stayed on Apr 13-15, 2025 got room 214 as soon as get into room I can smell like in the kitchen of restaurant down stair in the room and bother me every time. Bed was nice and comfy, because of hotel (building) was old you can hear everything from neighbors, wood cranking when you walked or open-close door room. Other than that I felt safe every rooms has code to unlock the door and even shared bathroom. If you want to sleep in after 8 you will not get to sleep you can hear trash truck behind hotel. No parking guests need to park on street (pay) which is not bad for the price.
- 4/5
Great location close to the University of Washington
- 4/5
Always enjoy College Inn. Great value and convenient for UW work. The Ave is a mess tho...
- 5/5
Yes they are truly a European style hotel, with some rooms with shared baths, but our room with a full bath was very, very comfortable. The keyless entry for both the front door and room door worked perfectly. Staff was very accommodating and kind. We enjoyed Agua Verde for dinner, and Saint Bread for breakfast - all within a short walk from the hotel. I’ll be returning!
- 5/5
Good place, small though.
- 5/5
You have all the necessary things and the location is just the best!
- 5/5
Consider considering the Location and the Price and the quaintness of the hotel it's a good deal. For those who are picky, their arms are a little small, could've used better heating system and another garbage can
- 5/5
Ease of check in and check out. Proximity to campus
- 5/5
Excellent place to stay . Vintage concept is a welcome feature. Had room with bathroom/ perfect. Lots of stairs / no elevator
- 5/5
Didn’t know no elevator
- 5/5
It was a great experience!
- 5/5
Convenient to UW and the Ave. It’s neat and clean, they are always making improvement while keeping the historical character.
- 4/5
Advertized Queen bed was a Full size.
- 4/5
The College Inn is an excellent expression of a business realizing its ultimate potential. Its a small, affordable european style inn with shared bathrooms conveniently located right in the middle of the U district. I love the history of this place and the staff is alwasys pretty on point. The rooms are tight and spartan but all you really need, especially in a city where 400 dollar hotel rooms are now more the norm than the exception.
- 5/5
Perfect location for my visit to UW.
- 4/5
great place
- 4/5
Extremely noisy with music from below I think even over white noise at bedside.
- 5/5
Stayed heee while competing at UofW track event. Great hotel; very close to University; was able to walk to Meet. Staff was great!
- 5/5
My daughter and I were visiting the colleges in Seattle and we booked the College Inn Hotel. It was so cute! It is a European style hotel and was super clean, in a great part of town, and had a friendly vibe. The shared bathrooms were super clean and the common space was open and well equipped. There was a shared fridge you could use, and microwave, and coffee station, as well as a shared kitchen. The only thing that could be hard for some travelers are the stairs, there is no elevator. Other than that, the hotel is so cute and gave me a nostalgic feel for small hotels I had stayed at in Europe.
- 5/5
The College Inn Hotel can’t be beat for location, value and constantly improving their facilities. I appreciate the remote assistance via text but quickly appear in the flesh when needed!
- 5/5
It was my second time here and the staff took care of all my needs.
- 1/5
Housekeeping never came to take out trash or make beds, bathrooms minimally cleaned. Rarely staff in lobby, always had to call front desk and wait for someone working somewhere else to come down. Found out upon leaving that hotel front end staff positioned on 4th floor and not lobby. No insulation in room, could hear all of the goings on from the street, and upstairs neighbors.
- 5/5
Love the place so nice and comfortable. I was very comfy
- 4/5
I would stay again. It was like a European hotel, minus the breakfast. Everything was clean and comfortable. There was a lot of check in stuff that was a little difficult to manage when you are flying and can’t get all of their texts and instructions. However, it really wasn’t a big deal and it worked out just fine
- 5/5
Close by to everything very convenient.
- 4/5
cute hostel vibes; overall the place seemed clean and taken care of. The only downside is the walls are paper thin and the man in the room next to us was constantly coughing and talking to apparently himself and we could hear every single cough
- 5/5
Comfortable bed, quiet room, friendly and helpful staff.
- 5/5
We love how simple but nice the rooms are. Some of the layouts are a little strange but that’s okay. Price and location are great
- 5/5
We were in town to see a DJ over at Hanger 30. Was a quick Uber ride there and back and exactly what we needed which was a place to crash. Thanks!
- 5/5
We loved our stay at the college Inn. The only problem was the room was a little cold, and the TV only had about 10 channels. Otherwise, it was very comfortable and cute.
- 5/5
Oriental Feeling. Good place.
- 5/5
The workers are always responsive, and the College Inn is always comfortable.
- 5/5
Emma was very welcoming. Gove her a raise. Will definitely recommend to family and friends
- 5/5
no 1 choice for uw students or alumni
- 4/5
Good accommodations at good prices in a good location with interesting history
- 2/5
What we did not like? Property does not have parking belongs to hotel. We ve been told to park our car to nearby garage which was not convenient due to our heavy luggage. It was couple of blocks away. Then we told hotel service to give us other parking options. They told us to do street parking. But we also didn't risk. At the end, we had to park our car to empty field behind the hotel with our own risks. I couldn't sleep until morning by thinking car’s condition.
- 5/5
Great staff to work with and helped when I needed to extend me stay.
- 5/5
Great location right next to UW. Easy to get in and out.
- 5/5
We loved the charm and history of this cute hotel. It was perfectly located for our needs. It is also very close to a lot of food and retail. The room was clean and smelled great (kudos to the cleaning staff!). The bed was very comfortable. Finally, the price was moderate. Would definitely book again.
- 1/5
I have two daughters that attend UW and I have stayed here several times. During this past stay I had several customer service and safety concerns, the major one being that the front door was left unlocked at around 11pm. I emailed the Inn directly to address them the next day and was indirectly told I was being untruthful. Michael, the manager, took the time to review the camera to count the number of coffee cups, but not take the time to confirm that the front door was left unlocked. I'm shocked by the utter lack of accountability and lack of concern for his guests safety.
- 5/5
The staff is friendly and helpful!
- 4/5
Convenient area next to the University of Washington and close to the U-District train station. Staff generally responsive to messages but mostly absent for in-person support needs. Nice modern rooms including sink and mirror. Shared bathrooms were fine - clean but nothing special. Great value for money overall.
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
very helpful and friendly staff and room was very clean. super convenient location and access.
- 5/5
The location cannot be beat - incredibly convenient to UW campus, the Ave, and West Campus dorms. I love the European style of the hotel, relatively small, quaint and good use of shared spaces. I have stayed in rooms with and without a bathroom and both arrangements work fine. The common area "Loft" has shared a shared, fridge, microwave and toaster, coffee/tea, and chairs/tables to spread out to eat, chill, read, work or play games. I could go on and on but do need to mention the consistently awesome staff. The property is clean and well maintained. Even with remote check in options and not always seeing someone at the entry desk, they are always responsive and helpful via text or phone. If you can't do stairs, this is probably not the best match. However, there may be accessibility options that I am not aware of.
- 4/5
we liked the price, location, and cleanliness.
- 5/5

- 2/5
Unfortunately, I did not have a great stay at the College Inn. The street noise was the main culprit - There is a popular cafe underneath the Inn and college students/patrons were very loud past 2am on a Tuesday night. The bathrooms are shared, which normally wouldn't be so bad if you weren't in town for a colonoscopy the next morning. Nightmare. I suppose I can only blame myself on that one. There is no elevator, so if you have lots of heavy baggage it may not be a suitable accommodation. On the plus side, check-in was setup fairly well. The Inn rooms are very nice and clean. My experience might have been much better on a different night, so take it with a grain of salt.
- 5/5
Felt like home! We are dealing with a sick family member nearby, and this stay made all the worry go away! So responsive and helpful, and we loved the shared space for cooking.
- 5/5
Great location!
- 3/5
The hallways were dingy and itbwas oretty loud when people walked innand out of thier rooms. Sone rooms dont have tgier own restrooms, luckily mine did. The room was nice and clean and worth the $120 if you're in a pinch.
- 5/5
Loved it !! Only downside was to pay for parking but still worth it. Definitely recommend
- 2/5
This dorm style hotel is quite worn and my room smelled like smoke. Also, there is no elevator so you have to carry all your luggage up steep stairs (the staff did not offer to help). It is a very cheap option for staying in the U District, but you get what you pay for.
- 5/5
This property was so cute and very convenient. We went to the Neptune for a comedy show. It was extremely walkable and has good restaurants around it. For some people it might be a detriment to not have a bathroom but it actually was not bad. The room has a sink in it . Like I said very cute room!!
- 5/5
I love it! The only thing is they don’t have elevator and we had a stroller but, it was very easy to lift it up the stairs as they are wide and secure.
- 5/5
Excellent experience in a hotel close to UW campus. Close to restaurants and entertainment. Just what I wanted
