Love the atmosphere. It was very quiet and relaxing which fit our trip vibe. The staff was kind and helpful. However, one area for improvement could be the accessibility for guests to the surrounding walkable areas. The wall surrounding the resort made it tricky to determine the best access points to walk to the sights and local shops.

Beautiful, newly renovated property. The room was very spacious and clean. The pool and gym area seemed brand new, both in great condition. We also loved how walkable to old town shops and restaurants this hotel was. Just a few min walk to the nearest shops!

This says it’s a four star however it is far from that. The hotel is getting remodeled and I believe we had one of the remodeled rooms. It was poorly done Mold jagged cuts to tile. Our ceiling in our room was peeling drilling noise parking lot filled with dirty linens and old furniture trash We had to leave it was so bad. We asked for some refund and of course didn’t get one Don’t stay here

We loved the location! Literally just steps to Old Town. The property is undergoing a wonderful renovation. The pool bar wasn't open when we stayed (Sun & Monday) but that didn't keep us from enjoying the very nice pool.

This property was undergoing renovations and were told by corporate not to alert potential customers of this inconvenience. The staff put me in a newly renovated room to their delight, however the room looked like a grad schooler did the remodel. 6:30 am the mariachi band started playing, which was lovely. My room was so poorly remodeled that I informed the front desk and showed them pictures of everything wrong. Housekeeping even took my used coffee pods and placed them back upside down, hoping I wouldn’t catch it. Even with alerting the front desk and showing them pictures, not one manager reached out. I would skip this place and find another hotel if it were me!

Nate was wonderful communicating with me about the status of construction leading up to my stay. The amenities listed weren’t available to use due to the construction, but it looks like it’ll be great when it’s all finished. Unfortunately there wasn’t a microwave in the room and the physical bed frame for one our beds was broken causing it to sag in the middle. The location is amazing for old town Scottsdale and walkable to shopping, food, and bars.

That being said, even with the construction, the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating and incredibly kind. My only small complaint was the construction noise while I was trying to nap, but it honestly just makes me excited to see what the finished hotel will look like!

Entire site is under construction, doors, lobby, common areas are boarded and construction debris all over the place You practically need a hard hat to walk around. Temporary Lobby setup in the hallway, filthy staircases and walkways. It should be illegal to operate hotel under these conditions. I would drop them and demand full refund but I had an appointment in town and had no time to search for another hotel. It was only one night and the sheets were clean so I decided to suck it up and sleep there. Absolutely disgusting experience. Expedia should be aware of this and remove them from the list of available hotels. STAY AWAY!!!

First of all, the entire hotel was in the process of a remodel, which makes sense as the room was dated badly. The lack of standard sized pillows on a king size bed was apparent as we had (4) pillows that were smaller than throw pillows and they offered no support. We asked the front desk person for some standard pillows or even extra little pillows and she acted like she couldn’t do anything as housekeeping was gone for the day and she states she didn’t have a key to the room. Very odd response. The lack of basic amenities like usb ports anywhere in the room to charge our phones was frustrating as well, thank God we had our charger adapters so we wouldn’t be helpless. The bathroom is super small and the lack of fan in the restroom along with the sliding barn door for the bathroom with no lock left no privacy. The king sized bed was super low and the mattress offered little support either as it sunk in the middle. The elevator was very creaky like it needed WD40 badly. If I hadn’t looked outside my window, I wouldn’t have thought we were in Old Scottsdale! Very disappointing and frustrating that there was no mention on the Hotels.com website that the entire property was under construction, for goodness sake, check in was a big meeting room where a little desk was set up. Do better Hotels.com!!!!

The location in the Center of the cutest part of Old Town Scottsdale is awesome! Note, however: This hotel is under a major renovation, which looks very promising but no pool or lobby is available currently until Jan 2026 from my understanding. For my sleeping purposes it was totally good.

I love the location staff is polite I wasn’t aware of the renovations, old furniture all over the parking lot, whatever was going on, couldn’t go in main lobby, the pool was completely unavailable and I booked specifically to be at the pool for the morning, room was bare minimum small dresser, small tv, 3 pillows per bed, worn out side table. It just was not what it was like before, I’ve stayed many times.

It is now undergoing a major refurb and shouldn’t be open during this time. No pool, limited conveniences, dirty rooms, cold showers. We booked at $231 per night. By the time we arrived, the rate was $107 per night. We cancelled our 2nd night and received a partial refund on the 1st night. Now I see it’s $81 per night. Why bother? Just close up until the big reveal in 2026. Hope for a better experience then, if we ever choose to stay there again.

Staff who checked us in and out were very nice. They didn’t tell us there was a $15.00 a day parking when we checked in, it wasn’t until the next day my husband saw all the cars with passes. I knew the hotel was under construction, but the room had a weird smell, the furniture was old. The mini fridge was on the floor. It was walking distance to food and cute shops though. They are in renovation mode and shouldn’t be taking reservations. Staff was very courteous and respectful. But then informed us of the major renovation going on. No pool, filthy floors and elevators. No hot water… It wasn’t a very good experience. It may be down the road when they are done, but during Reno, they should designate one of their buildings to take customers, keep it on point while the rest get fixed. From what I could tell, the people there were scattered. Good luck to them down the road…

Tiny fridge on floor where you literally have to crawl down onto floor to access the compartments in it. We loved the fact that the company clearly wants to fix up the facility and that they are updating a "vintage" building, style. However, this was a total party place. A DJ was cranked on full volume from 12-5 with sing alongs in the pool and yellow pool water. Loud and gross are the words that come to mind. I would not recommend this place unless you are looking for these specific things.

The room was small and there were a few bugs on the wall, which prompted me to check for bedbugs. Did not find any and it is Arizona, so I excused the few bugs. I was woken up around 3AM and kept up for a half hour by people yelling. While this is near old town, still isn’t acceptable. I didn’t realize until that moment that there wasn’t even a phone in the room to call the front desk. I would not book here again. The staff were friendly, but the 1st room we were assigned was on the 3rd floor and the elevator wasn't working, so we had to return to reception and get a 1st floor room. The room didn't have any luggage racks, there was only 1 chair in the room. Then in the evening our toliet was plugged. They don't have phones in the room, so you have to call via your cell phone and the front desk didn't answer so we have to walk over and let them know about the toilet issue. Luckly there was a maintenance person on call and he was able to unplug the toilet. The small bar/restaurant left a lot to be desired. At least the Monarch is located in the center of Oldtown Scottsdale and there were wonderful restaurants to choose from.

Staff was friendly & attentive. Location is good. OK value. Restaurant, but no breakfast. Room was dangerous, bare & devoid of many amenities ... no phone, tiny college dorm fridge which only held a few drinks, ugly outdoor outlets on inside of room. We were woken up by thumping Rave music at 10 am due to a poorly organized party which cost $30 entry & took over the hotel's main pool. Many other guests complained about this as well. Barn door for bathroom fell off rails & nearly crushed my wife. Bed was way too close to patio door, causing us to trip & fall.

The rooms are older and they took minimalism literally when redecorating. Something just felt off. There were stay hairs in my bath tub and it looked grungy so I did not shower. This is not hotels fault but someone apparently left their toddler alone and around 9pm I had police banging on my door as they were looking for thr parents. Staying alone, this was very unsettling. I ended up not sleeping very well. Disappointing because the pillows and bed were actually very comfy. Overall I just feel like ive had a better experience at other hotels and would not recommend this one personally. Also, may be location of my room in particular but I heard every emergency siren that drove by. Very noisy.

Great location and very convenient to walk around town. Nice pool, comfortable bed and spacious room. The shower temperature was very cold until we finally found the right spot to put the handle to get hot water, and it was in the cold spot lol

Our room was nice, nothing really fancy. Could use alittle updating in the bathroom but all and all was a nice place. Close to old town which was great for walking there and the pool party over the weekend was awesome. Some of the staff like Tony and Jordan were the best. Our room didn't have a microwave in it but Tony hooked us up by reheating some leftovers for us.

The Hotel was amazing, and so was the staff. The only problem I had was the upkeep of the “quiet” pool area. It wasn’t as well maintained as the other pool party area. There was a dead baby bird, and towels left from days before. Housekeeping should make sure that area is well maintained daily. Other than that. The stay was great.

The room was filthy. The mattress was far beyond worn out. The so called handicap accessible bath had very slick tile throughout. The water from the shower ran freely across the floor. It is very unsafe. The holder for the shower head is broken.

The pictures of the hotel property and pool on the Monarch’s website are misleading. While the staff were friendly and the pool was refreshing and clean, the entire property (including the pool area) is in need of renovation. The room I was assigned to was clean yet pretty broke-down- like a room I would expect in a budget 1-2 star motel. Worn down furniture with scratches; a small streaming tv that you can only use if you enter your Netflix/amazon account info; poorly painted over doors; and an in the wall air conditioner that struggled to cool the room at night. The “old town” Scottsdale area nearby is convenient, but kind of wack unless you are into buying “authentic” souvenirs and what not. My expectations were probably too high, as I had hoped for a nice lounging by the pool before retiring to my updated room experience. In all fairness, the room rate was cheap and if you just want a cheap motel with a nice (but in need of basic renovations) pool area for a day, then this will fit the bill.

There was no info about the hotel i.e, pool hours, food, spa, a MAP of a confusing layout ,no microwave? Motel Six has one!! The small pool I was near room- 4105-closed early. I couldn't swim, Bryce, the young man who greeted me on arrival was a gentleman, helped with my bags, sent me a text with the menu,Someone would bring my food up for, not to let them in my room.So I waited and 45 minutes , called the desk and TONY said the food was there an hour. He didn't contact me, said he was alone and I'd have to come get it.I got it COLD, (microwave?)I walked alone in the dark. And TONY was NOT ALONE ..another worker opened the door for me. Don't have more room but TONY was nasty, sarcastic..that I didn't know where the desk was.. I will not post this. But a one night"s stay refunded would be appropriate, because there's more A PHONE IN THE ROOM!!!!! I am a 75 y/o retired Pediatric RN. I've done both hospital work and travel for work.I have stayed in countless hotels, but NEVER ONE WITHOUT A PHONE for Pete's sake. What if there was an Emergency in a room...like a heart attack, stroke, fall, fire, do you know how liable you would be.???

It’s not a 3***hotel, it’s more like a 2** glorified hotel. No elevators available, so get ready to carry your luggages on the stairs. Of course, there is no coffee available, so get ready to spend good money on that as well. The room was clean, but they forgot to take care of the balcony, which was filthy. The view is awesome though!

We love the location! It's and older hotel that has been remodeled for the most part. If you have a family member in honorhealth Osborne Hospital it is very convenient. My room is depressing and dark with tiny furniture and a floor lamp that they hadn't even bothered to plug in. Not regular television just free TV and you have to put in your memberships to watch anything on any cable channel . No shampoo or body wash in the dispensers no glass to brush your teeth. Restaurant closes at 8:00 which is way too early for guests with people in a hospital

Loved the location of this hotel, but it is party central during the weekends! Very loud and crowded at the pool and loud room parties all night. Our AC unit was also extremely noisy. The lounge chairs at the pool were very uncomfortable and falling apart with no chairs at all at the “quiet pool”. Unless you’re headed to Scottsdale to party day and night, I would stay elsewhere.

The Monarch is an affordable hotel located right in the heart of Oldtown. The main pool/hot tub area is lovely with lush greenery and a lively outdoor bar on site. The guest rooms were clean and functional, but a bit outdated. The wall mounted TV was very small & looked like a computer monitor. The outdoor balcony was a nice feature, but an awkward shape...not enough space for patio furniture (or even a chair to sit down). So guests can only stand up on the balcony to enjoy the view.

I am a solo female traveler and did not feel safe at this hotel, I am leaving this review for other women traveling alone. The listing of this property is misleading. It is a motel where the lobby is separated. The lobby and pool areas are nice and renovated, but the rooms and hallways are dated and frankly a little sketchy. Your room's front door opens to the outside/parking lot, literally anyone off the street could walk up to your front door. There are security bars to block the parking lots off, but they don't use them, so the parking lots are basically open to the public and anyone can walk around. During my short time there I saw several people lingering in the parking lot that didn't seem to be staying at the hotel. The night I checked in, I realized that my room's chain lock on the door was broken and essentially useless. I asked to be transferred to a new room, the second room's back sliding door did not lock at all. So two rooms both with broken locks, extremely concerning. The furniture is scuffed up and just not in great condition, and one of the three rooms I was placed in the tub was dirty and had chipping paint. I canceled the remainder of my stay the next morning and transferred to a different hotel. Main takeaway, I did not feel safe at this hotel at all.

Awesome location right in old town Scottsdale - walkable to many shops/restaurants. We checked in at 3:56 PM (check in was 4 PM) - was told they didn't have a room ready for us, didn't know when they would, and would call us when they did... not what we wanted to hear after a long travel day. The room was super dirty - my husband wore shoes in the shower and everything else was covered in a layer of dust.
