Best Western Plus Scottsdale Thunderbird Suites

We a had a great stay here at the BW Plus, room was a great size and clean! Breakfast was delicious both mornings. For my wife and myself, the bed was very firm, not really a gripe, just a heads up for other patrons.

There was no cold water. Staff said let it run, I filled the bath tub and it was still warm. Staff said that was normal for Phoenix area. I explained I am from Phoenix and haven't ever seen that before. Staff was helpful in canceling my reservation and getting a full refund.

Great place at a reasonable price. Love the two room suites, nice pool, free breakfast is even decent.

My key card wouldn't open my door and had to switch rooms. The toilet in that room was loose on the ground. Other than these two issues I had an absolutely fantastic stay here. The rooms are beautiful and clean with a desert theme. The way the hotel is shaped is very unique too. If I ever come back down I'll be staying here for sure.

The entire staff was amazing, especially the breakfast staff. They went out of their way every morning to make sure we had everything we needed. They even had fresh baked goods. The bartender was professional and welcoming. She gave a wonderful local dinner recommendation to me and my husband. All the front desk staff were professional and courteous. All staff we encountered made sure we had an excellent stay.

We chose this hotel because it’s just a couple of miles from my in-laws, and it worked well for our needs. The property is definitely a bit dated, but it’s clear that it’s well cared for—everything was clean and properly maintained. We stayed in a one-bedroom king suite, which felt very spacious for the three of us (and would comfortably fit four). The bedroom included a chair, which was a nice touch so we didn’t have to sit on the bed. The bed itself was very comfortable, and the dresser easily accommodated all our clothes for a five-night stay. The living room had a two-seater sofa bed (we didn’t use it as a bed, but it was comfortable for sitting), along with a large work desk and chair that made it easy to get work done. There’s also a mini fridge, microwave, and plenty of shelf space for storing food, though you can’t cook in the room. The bathroom is on the smaller side, and it would have been more functional if the toilet and tub were separate. The toilet is positioned very close to the counter, which makes the layout a bit tight. The pool is small but looks nice. We didn’t use it since it was too hot in May, but the interior-facing rooms overlook a courtyard with the pool and palm trees, which gives it a pleasant, almost resort-like feel. There’s also plenty of free parking, which is a big plus. Breakfast was excellent by hotel standards. We really appreciated the variety and the fact that the hot options changed daily—items included sausage, bacon, eggs, French toast, corned beef hash, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, along with boiled eggs, cereals, breads, bagels, muffins, juices, coffee, fruit, and more. In terms of location, Phoenix is quite spread out, but this hotel is conveniently located near Scottsdale Airport, the golf course that hosts the Waste Management Open, and the Mayo Clinic. There are also plenty of shopping and dining options nearby. As with most U.S. cities, having a rental car makes getting around much easier. The bathroom is on the smaller side, and it would have been more functional if the toilet and tub were separate. The toilet is positioned very close to the counter, which makes the layout a bit tight. Housekeeping is on request only and had to be requested the day before.

The cleaning aspect could be better on the rooms .. wiping down surfaces and furniture is needed . As well disinfecting

My only complaint is that the breakfast really wasn't very good at all. The French toast sticks were very hard and the sausage was barely warm and overdone.

You get a lot for the price. Free breakfast, pool, very clean hotel and front desk staff very nice especially Peggy. The lobby is beautiful, they have an on-site market along with a bar/restaurant. They offer free water and coffee in lobby. Would definitely stay again!

Nice hotel for the price. Staff was great. Room had several things wrong-bathroom shower leaked all over the floor, room temperature was difficult to control. Good basic value for a property in Scottsdale.

We were in the La Jolla Concourse de elegance this weekend. And staying at your hotel was a pleasant experience. We’ll probably stay here again next year.

It was disappointing that I had booked a room for 5 people and when we were given the room, there was only two beds. They were not very accommodating of an appropriate room even thought this reservation was made well ahead of time.

We liked the breakfast and there was a very nice older male employee who provided us excellent customer service in the breakfast area. I did not get his name but he made it a much better experience. We will be staying there again!

Room was decent, but a little run down. Be aware it is right next to the Scottsdale airport so you hear planes starting early in the morning.

An older but well maintained hotel. The front end staff are amazingly helpful. Miss DeAsia helped me with a booking issue and solved the problem without reserve.

All but one person during our 4 night stay was friendly, accommodating and helpful at the front desk. The staff at breakfast was great. Breakfast was good, hot and fresh. Parking was plenty and convenient

Check-in was easy and fast. Parking was right outside the room. Breakfast at 6 AM on weekends is rare, but a plus. The TV;s and WIFI worked well. The room seemed clean. This is a very dated hotel. The King suite was OK but undersized. The bedding was so thin that it was like sleeping with just a sheet. The bathrooms are tiny and the entry door small and blocking the hallway. The TV's are also undersized for a room of this type. Breakfast was typically of hotels in this category, which means fairly bad. Towels were old, thin, and scratchy.

The team was very good. The beds were very comfortable but the room show the age of the facility. It could use a update for sure. But other than that our stay was very good and the hotel team was great. They took care of all our needs and concerns with a smile. We would stay there again.

The staff!!! Wow!!! The most hospitable staff I’ve encountered in years! I’m beyond impressed! The hotel was fine, nothing spectacular but, clean and well kept. In close proximity to wonderful shopping, food and all the ball parks.

Some of the outlets did not work and we had to find ones that did to plug in our electronic devices. It was very frustrating as we had our devices plugged in all over the suite. A real hassle as some were in sockets on the floor. We had to change out the rickety lamps so we could plug in our medical equipment. The staff were all great and the breakfast was ok with a variety of items. Until they renovate everything I would stay away.

The manager was on vacation and locked me out of my room.

We had a good stay, rooms were clean. The only complant was the sofa couch was so uncomfortable. The matress is so worn out and thin that you are better off sleeping on the floor. Other than that i would rate it great.

Also - I lost an expensive pair of sunglasses in the lobby, and when I was checking out I asked about them and to my surprise the front desk staff had found and saved them for me. They could easily have kept them as they are expensive. I appreciate the great service and honestly. I will definitely stay there again next time I'm in Scottsdale. Thank you.

Great stay! Great service. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. The hotel was older but very clean. Good price and good area. We didnt hear any airplanes until 8am and the airport is small so the noise was minimal.

Our hotel clerk was excellent! The location is great for access to our usual destinations, like West World or doctors offices. The housekeeping staff was great and generous with towels when we asked. Same with the breakfast hosts.

The bed was outstanding! I slept so good and I loved the mattress. It was probably the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The only criticism is that the facilities staff doesn’t clean up your room or make the beds. I ended up having to take out my trash every day and making my own bed. For the rate I paid for the room I felt the staff could have cleaned up the room. But you can request for the staff to clean up a day in advance. But I had already cleaned up in the morning so it wasn’t anything I hadn’t already done.

This place doesn’t look anything like it appears in hotels.com and other sites. It’s worn out and the air conditioning doesn’t work well, even though they claim it is on. I would never stay here again.

This hotel is nice enough. Just a little old. The best part about it was the breakfast and the people who attended to it as well as the friendly little bar and bartender. The people who work there are lovely.

The only downside is its location to Scottsdale airport literally just over the road - the planes are very noisy but we live near London Heathrow airport so we soon got used to it!!

This is right by the airport so you hear flights all the time and the air quality is terrible, smells like airplane exhaust! So, unless you have to, one night only, because you are exhausted. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We have been going to a Thunderbird Suites for 17 years. For us to have to ask to have the room cleaned 24 hours in advance is unacceptable. The shuttle service is only available until 7 pm. Isn't unacceptable. We will be looking elsewhere next year.

Great value

Great value and probably the nicest people in the world run the breakfast and the bar. They made my stay.

This place is a gem—affordable, clean, friendly staff, comfortable beds, large room with separate living room/TV area, in a great location. The pool was too cool to use, but the spa was very nice.

Clean but looks worn down

Some things in the room were not functional and I found the bed to be uncomfortable.

Absolutely love this hotel. The pool and courtyard are pristine, the fitness center has quality equipment in good working condition, continental breakfast and staff are absolutely wonderful, front desk people are the best, bottles water, beer, and other convenience items are available on premises. Can’t go wrong booking here.

Suites are large Bedroom and livingroom and a kitchen. Wonderfull service in the reception, good breakfast and the best service in the dinning room. We want to thank to Steve and his wife ,and to Tham and Kim Kim for their best service, for their kindness , for the good atmosphere, and for open our day with a smile No doute that will return again atmospher

Moved cross country from the East Coast and needed a place to stay for many days. The staff was kind and courteous, and assisted with extending our stay. 2nd time staying in this location, always easy from extra towels to assisting with questions.

Comfortable and convenient. Love having refrig and microwave. Very clean, good breakfast with friendly staff. Only 1 ice machine is only criticism.

As a grandpa visiting son's family, the BEST WESTERN THUNDERBIRD was the most ideal location, value, and comfortable happy services hotel to be found.

Nice, average quality hotel, good location, close to amenities. There is airport noise, but did not bother us. Overall, we'd stay there again. Costs are too high, but that is most everywhere.

Excellent staff, horrible location. Bad layout, extremely outdated. Immediately next door to very active 24 hour airport. Jets and props from 2:30am to 6am to 9am to 12pm to 6pm to 9pm to 12am. All day, all night. No sound insulated glass, nothing to help with the 24 hour noise. In no way a resort.

Have been to many motels. I am 63 years old. This by far has been my favorite. Great space, staff, dog friendly. I plan on staying at Best Westerns from now on!! Thanks bunches for the comfortable room and great location. Sincerely the Vasquez's

I love the spaciousness of the rooms/suites. Dark around stairs and vending ice machine areas.
