DoubleTree by Hilton Schenectady Downtown

This I would not expect from a Hilton Hotel, or any other Hotel for that matter. Would not stay in this location or area again.

Clerk was helpful in helping me correct a booking error (my fault, booked the wrong night). Room was tidy. But the shower had some hardware issues which was annoying. I’ve stayed at this hotel several times without any serious complaints or concerns.

Nice quiet friendly and clean

The room smelled like a very old ashtray. Not overpowering, but noticeable. The bathroom was small, but functional. One problem was the shower. The shower door would mot stay closed, the handle was in a spot that required you to fully be in the shower to turn the water on, and there was a metal tray on the shower floor that sounded like rain on a tin roof. Which was loud enough to wake my husband and keep him from falling back to sleep. Even with the bathroom door pulled closed.

I’ve stayed here many times and it’s been acceptable, but this weekend I had to switch rooms 2x, loud broken hear fan, red mildew all over shower and counter, lights not working, floors obviously unvacuumed. Third room was a charm yet missing basic supplies like sugar for coffee maker. The upside is the workers are responsive and it’s less expensive than similar hotels in the area. But it’s slipping….

Computer chair is the only place to sit in the room. How about a side chair of some kind. Bed is so high off the floor my short wife had to run and jump to get on the bed. She’s 83. We will never stay at this facility again !

The staf was wonderful, minus the desk clerk that received my call about the lamp and outlet between my bed not working. When I called back that evening, Imani sent someone right away. The drinks were ok, dinner; our fries were cold and although we were the only ones in the dining area, food took a long time. Breakfast wasn't good at all. The heater was filled with caked on dust that blew out everywhere. At first I was able to regulate the thermostat (on auto) then it blew non-stop literally burning my eyes from the dust. The room wasnt cleaned well upon arrival, but not terrible. The pool wasnt heated but they were trying to work on it. The lobby was very nice as well. Unfortunately, I wont stay there again

Unfortunately the heating/cooling unit was quite noisy, the fan in the bathroom remained on despite the all lights being turned off, and one of the towels had a strange order. Not the best of stays at this location.

The hotel has a very cozy vibe which was perfect for the cold winter weather in Schenectady. They have these amazing walnut chocolate chip cookies at the front desk which are complimentary so don’t forget to ask for one. We did go to the bar for a night cap and Adam was amazing with conversation and comfort. The food was not good but the drinks helped that.

They need to deep clean all the rooms, I wont be staying there again mark my word.

Room and check in was great. We visited Schenectady to attend a Union College football game. After the game we decided to drink and eat at the hotel. We were approximately 12 people the bar was short on alcohol and could not make espresso martinis and a few other request from the girls in our party ☹️ but the food was great. Morning buffet was mediocre at best we got there at 8:20 the eggs were cold, coffee was empty, pancakes had no sirup available. Overhaul the buffet breakfast was not worth the fee associated with what was available.

The staff at the front desk & cleaning staff were wonderful! Ryan that worked breakfast was so rude the 1st day that I debated returning for day 2 & breakfast was included with our stay. Ryan flung the menus down at us so we left & never returned for our breakfast any of the days left bc of the treatment we received from him. We were there for 4 nights & only ate 1 day. I paid extra to have breakfast so that was quite the let down.

Rooms were clean, quiet and relaxing. Very convenient to have a restaurant in the hotel so I didn't have to leave. Food and drinks were amazing.

I got a great price on this just due to the day/market price... Normally I'm in some lower star hotels so I may be easily impressed, but really, it's a great hotel. The staff was polite and everything was very clean and comfortable, communicative as well. Rec room and pool were crazy to have access to, so if you need to keep up with fitness, they keep these nice, too. Thank you to the staff for such a pleasant hotel experience on all sides.

There were not enough parking spots. My pillow stank of cigarette breath. Room filled with the smell of W33D in the middle of the night. I'm not a negative review writer, but this was a horrible stay.

Thankfully we booked with no option of refund so we moved forward with our stay at the hotel. The rest of the staff was incredibly friendly and the hotel was perfect. I hope the gentleman working the desk that night doesn’t deter others from staying there. I was very disappointed in his behavior.

This is my second time staying at a DoubleTree, Binghamton was my first (great experience). I check in and the front desk told me breakfast was not included and I was misinformed. Not the same welcoming experience as Binghamton, and no cookies which I thought was the hotels primary niche. It was late so we get to our room (my wife and toddler) thought we would just follow up in the morning. Morning comes same thing and they confirm breakfast is a la carte and not included. The interesting thing was we were not the only ones ill informed. Two other families during breakfast I overheard having the same issue with the misinformation. We ordered anyway since we were there already. Breakfast was 1/10 and I can’t say anything good about it. Very pricey for what you get, two plates and coffee for $50+ included tip. We sat ourselves as no one was really tending to guests and there were only two servers. Finally acknowledged and the orders took a while to come out and one order came out incorrect. Waitress resolved very promptly though. There was one nice reception, I cannot recall her name but very sweet and welcoming who assisted with extra toiletries since they didn’t replace them when the bed was made. Also provided extra bedding for our toddler since the first night was rough for him.

Sketchy area, was a ghost town inside, they advertise food being available but the restaurant was absolutely deserted at dinner and breakfast. Paid for breakfast and there was no one there at all, front desk said I could order off the menu but it was clear that was going to be some sort of microwave situation bc there was NO ONE THERE. Nice lobby, nice gym, but I only saw one other woman there, it was all men and military. Front desk was nice when I interacted with them, but the hallway was under construction near my room, with room doors open. Wouldn’t stay there again, would probably find a less expensive, newer place in the Albany area?

Overall nice clean hotel . Need to update tvs so you can use streaming services. Need to update website about complimentary breakfast and late check out .

Seems ok. Rooms were a bit small and the bathrooms smaller. Satellite TV wasn’t working too well and one of the elevators was out of service. Nothing great and nothing bad but not sure I’d visit again vs a Hampton inn instead.

Easy access to events. Clean. Good breakfast- waitress was vastly overworked.

Getting food from the on-site restaurant was horrible. Waitress was left to console customers, we finally left after 25 minutes and being told we were 3rd in line for getting our food - scrambled eggs, bacon and toast

There's a lot of time wear in the building.... the laundry facility was pretty dirty.... The heat and the ice machine in the laundry room of facility did not work.... The shower set up in my room leaves a lot to be desired.. The knob to turn the shower on is on the opposite end of the open door.. So when you turn the shower on you get bombarded with cold water. Bad design.

The room was barely cleaned. Smelled like sewage. And front desk did nothing about the loud thumping music in the room next to ours all night

We stayed one night the reason we booked this hotel is because it had a pool when we tried to use it the filters were not working and it seemed like it was not cleaned in a very long time if the pool was out of service then you should have put a notice on your website before booking or at the very least a sign on the pool door so no one would use it as I did see people in the pool the room was very small for two bed and the washroom you can barely move and I asked for extra towels which I never received and the bed sheets were dirty

I was visiting my daughter at Union College. This location is so convenient. I could walk to the school if I wanted. And I walked to Jay street to check out the shops and restaurants. Everything was clean, and the customer service was always on point. Very friendly and helpful. The service in the restaurant was particularly awesome. The staff goes out of their way to make guests feel taken care of. Well done!

One of the reasons we chose this hotel was the complimentary breakfast that was advertised, but Hotels.com concealed the fact that their booking did not include the breakfast.

Unfortunately, when I arrived, they did not have a booking for me. They told me they had it for the day before the lady at the counter was rude saying it’s not her fault that the booking was incorrect. They had to rebook my room use my credit card to hold and I am currently waiting for a manager to contact me in regards to a refund because I had already booked through you with a confirmation number.

We were riding on the Canalway trail and this hotel is just a few blocks away. Very convenient for us.

Piss was in the bed when we arrived

I was hoping to use the pool in the morning, but the area around the pool was not cleaned. Coffee cups lying around, somebody's clothes were laid out. There were no towels. The filter for the pool did not seem to be on. Sadly, I decided not to go into the water.

Arrived on a snow storm but all well provided and staffed at the hotel.

Staff was polite and welcoming. The travel to everywhere was easy, Walmart was close by also it’s a Stewart’s near I loveee that.

When I book a Doubletree Hotel there is an anticipation that the property will be above average. The hotel in downtown Schenectady was not. The bathroom was extremely small. The blankets on the bed were inadequate. The facial tissue dispenser was empty.

My room hadn't been dusted in months. Nasty hard water stains on shower door. Something splattered on bathroom door. Broken glass on bathroom floor. Manager did change rooms. Much cleaner.

Convenience to where I needed to go to the hospital to my sons house

There are certainly worst places to stay at ends connectedy, but this is definitely a Hilton that does not quite live up to the brand. Some small issues in my room such as a flickering light fixture, refrigerator being too cold and freezing my food and drinks, very slow service, overpriced bad food. I think the staff is friendly enough, although service can be very slow, I don't blame them entirely. I feel like the issue is operational /management. It wasn't dirty however.

Every staff, collin to jason to Ryan was knowledgeable, helpful and made the stay exceptionally....The entire team wokred together for a perfect guest stay. Highly recommend and will book again when in NY

Everyone was super friendly. The room was comfortable and quiet. I did chose this hotel over another because your fitness facility looked like it had more. However, the left side of the cable machine was broke and there were only 3 attachments to it( 2 handles I had to fix and a bar that couldn’t be used) and the Peloton wouldn’t connect. I will be traveling to Albany more often and would like to stay again if the equipment in the fitness center is fixed.
