Reviews
The Alida Hotel is generally praised for its friendly and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms, and excellent location in Savannah. However, some guests express dissatisfaction with the high cost of parking, the lack of certain amenities in the rooms, and the inconsistent quality of service.

We enjoyed our short stay at The Alida. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and spacious. The pool was tiny and a bit dirty. The gym was excellent and the outdoor pool table was unexpected, but interesting and unique.

The hotel was fancy and staff friendly!

Lovely stay truly amazing.Quite nested in the center of the river side area. We have the pool view room, and it was beautiful. Pool while shallow kids had a blast and plenty of areas to rest. On site valet is expensive at $60, but close by public parking garage only costs $24 per day with 5min walk. We booked at a good discount so recommend it to anyone planning to travel to Savannah.

We loved this property and its amenities - hands down, fantastic. However, the additional fees were extensive and not well understood in advance. I get it that popular areas can charge a lot, but large resort fee, large parking fee along with mandatory valet parking (and aggressive tip expectations) and a $50 fee to check in a little early when our room was actually ready (we declined) seemed excessive. Please just bundle it into the cost upfront so it isn't a constant irritation.
- 5/5
I loved this property but check your bill. I booked through Hotels.com and paid in advance. I was charged an additional 40.25 upon checkout to include an “amenity” fee for $35.00.

Room was clean and staff was above and beyond friendly and helpful. Made the stay all the more enjoyable from start to finish.

Location and access was amazing

Location, decor, service, food, amenities were all great! Rooftop bar was a pleasure to enjoy - hummus and pita bread was divine! The only thing that surprised me is that robes weren’t provided. I would have expected a hotel like the Alida to have them. That said, I also deeply appreciate efforts to decarbonize operations and having guest robes would increase washing and cleaning waste.

We enjoyed our stay. Hotel is in a great location for taking in Savannah. We enjoyed the rooftop bar with its great view. Everyone was quite hospitable. We will return.

This property is exceptional! Top shelf, no dust!

The Alida cancelled my stay, booked me a different hotel, and did not make me aware until AFTER I arrived to check in. The hotel they booked me at was not on the same end of River Street and the entire process of going to the other hotel caused us to miss our dinner reservations.

We had to call everyday to have room cleaned and to get fresh towels even though the maids cart was outside our door all day. The rooftop bar and inside bar was always booked by private parties so the hotel guests couldn’t even use them. There was no coffee available until after 7:00 am and no drinks or snacks available to buy.

Very nice hotel in a good location but it can get noisy (thin walls). Great pool and bar area. Bikes are really fun to ride around town.

We had such a wonderful stay! The rooms were large and the beds were huge (2 kings). The gym and pool were fantastic. We would totally stay at this location again if we were in the area!

So fun to be near the river, the rooftop bar is fabulous. Our room was quite spacious and we enjoyed the filtered water in the hallway. We also appreciated that the room was quiet despite being a busy weekend.

Beautifully decorated, large room with super comfy beds, wonderful staff, and walkable location. The breakfast is great, especially the iced coffee! Also, loved that we could borrow a vinyl record player for our room.

Staff was great, from arrival, the valet guys were friendly and front desk staff knowledgeable about the area. It has a nice vibe, bar and restaurant Rhett had delicious food and wonderful service. The best grits of the trip! It was quiet, no noise from other rooms or even hallways. The location is ok but not as nice as closer to historic district. Around the hotel hasn’t been updated and we found ourselves walking to other areas. We would stay up river or further in town if we go back to Savannah. Our room was pretty small, but window seat helped. The pool closed early every day so no after dinner or late night swims.

Wonderful Breakfast and dinner at Rhett Restaurant. The Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. We had a great stay at The Alida and our room was beautiful and very quiet. Everything went smoothly.

The Alida is a beautiful hotel. The staff were excellent and friendly. You couldn't ask for a better location with easy access to River Street. The little touches made the experience more memorable. For one example, there seemed to be a scent theme from the time you walk into the lobby to the toiletries in the bathroom. The rooftop bar had amazing views of downtown Savannah. I had a uniquely shaped room on the north end of the hotel that had multiple windows, lots of natural light, and views of the Talmadge Memorial Bridge. If I had a criticism, there was a minor problem with the hot water getting hot and staying hot on our end of the hotel, but this didn't really take away from my enjoyment of the experience. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would love to come back!

Upon check-in, we were told that my reservation was changed from a 2 king room to a 1 king room and they could not accommodate us. The people in front of us had the same issue. That front desk person was not friendly and really did not seem to care. Did not catch her name, but she had a (non- Southern) accent. She did end up putting us into two rooms for the night, which worked out well. The next day Kayla contacted me and said she had a 2 king room for us now or we could keep the 2 room situation for $200 extra per night. I was not going to pay that extra money for the 3 remaining nights of our stay. All 3 rooms we had during the stay were considered “pool view.” I would call them “pool side” or possibly “cornhole adjacent” as everything (especially the loud cornhole game, was literally right outside the window in our room.) And we could not get any light into our room, as the large windows were in full view of everyone using the outdoor amenities. I reserved city view. The room itself was nice and the shower was great. I liked the full mirror door on both sides for the bathroom, but it was difficult to move. On the first night, I could not get out of the bathroom and needed to call out to my husband for help. After that we learned not to close the door all the way. The 2 bed room was in exactly the same footprint as the 1 bed room, so the beds were up against the wall on each side. Kayla was friendly and helpful. The hotel was in a good location and Bougie in a good way.

The coffee machine in our room did not work. The seltzer water dispenser in the hall did not work. We never got a text telling us how to call for our car, so it took 40 minutes to straighten that out, but valet charge was comped, so that was something. A little sloppy on the details. The hotel was lovely, though. Not sure I would return.

Our room was dirty upon arrival. Not only was it not clean, but our view was of a dirty roof top filled with trash, empty champagne glasses rolling around and who knows what else. After the first night housekeeping did not even come to leave new towels and make the bed and refresh the coffee station. I felt like I was constantly complaining to the front desk. There was zero compensation and just an “ok”. The location was amazing and it was a beautiful hotel otherwise.

The Alida was the PERFECT hotel. We traveled to Savannah with my spouse, our children and my parents. My Mom has MS and mobility is an issue. The staff was so accommodating, providing us the perfectly appointed room that was convenient and accessible. The boys enjoyed the heated pool and we loved the bars, restaurant and complimentary happy hour. You can’t go wrong with the Alida! No notes here, everything was perfect.

The valet is lackluster at best. It took 26 minutes for them to get my car even though I was the first vehicle in the queue on the app. Unfortunately we were late for a tour we had booked about 35 minutes away.

Record player in the room was solid! The room itself was very comfortable and well appointed. The shower pressure could have been better; but if that’s the only minor inconvenience…then so be it. On site dining and cocktails, top tier. Location, on point. We will absolutely be back. Cheers

We also found it frustrating that one of the main draws of the hotel are the bars and outdoor spaces that go with said bars; however each night one of the two was closed off for a private party. You shouldn’t include this in your hotel appeal without mentioning that it may be closed during the guests stay. It seems really greedy that the hotel takes away for the guest experience to make more money! All in all we may stay here again as the staff is friendly and the rooms are clean.

The room was very nice and spacious. The main problem was the hot water which just didn’t appear very often. Cold, cold and more cold, it would take a very long time to even get to lukewarm. It was nice to have a Kerurig but the coffee was pretty meh. Great location and we always found free street parking not too far away.

The rooms was clean. There wasn't a luggage rack, closet, or refrigerator. The beds were very low to the ground but they were king size which was nice. It's $35/per day resort fee but they give you half of that back daily to use in the resort. Hotel is decorated nice. Hotel is in close proximity to downtown and plant riverside district. They charge $55 a day for valet and there isn't anywhere to park if you bring a car.

The hotel itself is lovely, clean and in a great location. Unfortunately, from the moment that our group of 11 checked in not all of us had hot water in our rooms. Less than half of us. We were forced to go to other rooms to have to take showers and to get hot water. When we asked to move, we were told that there were no room rooms available yet other guests were being moved. It was finally offered up to us. We’re checking out. So that did not help at all. The manager, Olivia did the best job she possibly could trying to get everything fixed, but unfortunately, the boiler just could not keep up. Would I go back to the hotel, yes, I definitely would because of the boutique type of feel it had and the comfortable bed. And all of the staff was beyond helpful. They did the best they possibly could in a very unfortunate situation. But overall, we enjoyed our girls weekend down there to celebrate a 60th birthday.

Chic and good location I had a service animal and they questioned me and almost interrogated me about what my disability was. Very rude receptionist. When looking for a hotel, it said “dog friendly, charges might apply” well…If not a service animal the charge is $150 per night! Also valet is $55 a night and there is no other parking in the area unless you get lucky and find street parking . Coffee pot in the room, but only two pods. They want you to go the restaurant and order a pot of coffee. Free empty water bottle, but you have to fill it in the gym!

Staff is great! Great king size bed rooms with amenities. They give you water bottles to fill in hall with 3 types of water. Love the roof bar which they gave me a coupon to use while I was up there and they had a DJ. They have a restaurant an another bar downstairs. Nice size pool to swim or lay around. I saw a guy laying out drinking coffee. Valet parking for me. Convenience to River Street. We had a fantastic night. Wish I could have stayed longer.❤️ Till next time Alida… Linda

One of the cool things about Savannah is all of the well preserved old buildings. We didn't necessarily want to stay in an old house or hotel, so we chose The Alida. I don't know the whole story, but it looks 'old' on the outside, but the inside is super modern and just beautiful. The room was big and open and clean. I really enjoyed my stay. The location was perfect as well, walking distance to the historic distric, River Street and the City Market. The weather didn't cooperate on the trip so we spent more time in the room than planned, but I enjoyed every moment at the hotel!

Didn’t even go into gym so don’t know. Guest get 1 card for each night of stay with $18 credit for Traderoom bar but would be nice to use in all food areas like the Rhett restaurant. Need better wine selections like Napa Valley, Sonoma or Paso Robles.

The hotel and staff beyond exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return. We spent most of our visit hanging out by the pool and enjoying cocktails during the afternoon. The bartender was super fun and gave us great recommendations for the evening we had ahead of us!! Can’t wait for our next visit.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at The Alida. The hotel staff, location, and amenities were perfect. The daily hotel credit was an unexpected surprise. I highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a convenient, walkable and quiet place to stay in the historic district. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Savannah.

The property is a beautiful property. The valet is too expensive the bar area the staff wasn’t very friendly. They had to come and change my bedding but overall, it was a pleasant stay in Jesus Christ Name, Joy-Jeremiah 29.11

Had a lovely stay at the Alida for my first trip to Savannah. The hotel was beautifully decorated and in a very convenient location. Parking was difficult to find and I ended up having to use the valet service, which had a high daily fee. The pool area was nice and dinner at Rhett was good. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.

A few staff made the whole place shine. Overall, we felt like front desk staff was dismissive and slow to respond. However, the location is perfect, the rooms are great, decor is beautiful. Would absolutely stay here again.

My stay at the Alida Hotel in Savannah was nothing short of exceptional! The service was outstanding, with the front desk and valet teams going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The rooms were incredibly comfortable, fully equipped with all the amenities needed. I loved the hotel’s chic mid-century modern design, which added a stylish and timeless vibe to the entire experience. The attention to detail and warm hospitality made our trip truly unforgettable. Highly recommend the Alida for anyone visiting Savannah! --- Let me know if you’d like further tweaks or additions before posting!

Rude front desk staff. Asked for upgrade and was refused. Put in a dark room and had to ask for a lighter room. Curtains were filthy. The air was wet and musty. Furniture in lobby and bar areas were heavily stained. A run down hotel that might have been lovely if kept up.

The Restaurant and the restaurant staff was the best part of our stay. Bar staff on main floor was very rude and we never used our free drink cards because of it. Upstairs Roof top was ok but nothing spectacular. For the price you would definitely expect more. Pool is very small, not enough room for guests, rooms are small, just not the WOW factor you would expect ! Very disappointed for choosing this one for our anniversary stay.

Wonderful hotel! The staff was friendly, and expedient. Really great location, and the hotel is so stylish and cool. Melding new with old in the best of ways. The pool area was extremely well appointed with comfortable furniture. Great dining and bar options within the hotel, and within walking distance of the riverfront, shops, bars and restaurants. We are already planning our return.

Upon check-in other patrons were offered champagne...we were not. Additionally we were given a credit for drinks but were advised for the pool bar. When we went to the pool bar (around 6:09pm) I was advised they had closed. Upon check-out I was advised the credit was for in fact the other bar on the 1st floor. If i would've known i would've used it. The lady who checked us out showed zero interest in helping with the inconvenience.

This hotel was a good option at a cheaper price than the JW Marriott. The building is very old and has some quirky features but overall it was a fine place to stay. I did like the food and beverage credit. The mini fridge is hidden in the built in cabinets which I didn't realize at first. One thing I did not like though was my shower was like a jet stream which was hard to take a girl "half shower" and not get your hair wet because it was so strong and splashed far. Also the water temperature was surprisingly very hard to control (extra extra extra hot).

Our check in was disappointing. We arrived at 2pm. Check in time is 4pm. We were told in order to have access to our room we would have to pay 50$, EVEN THOUGH it was ready! The hotel was practically empty. NO ONE would have been inconvenienced by our earlier check in. In addition, we found crumpled up paper in our room indicating a less than thorough check of its condition.

The Alida was in a perfect location to walk to area attractions; River Street, Broughton Street for shopping, City Market, Forsyth Park, many restaurants & bars. It was nice to have an elevator to get down to the Savannah River District as my husband had a hard time with stairs. Rooms were adequate & cleaned every day. The happy hour every day was nice with champagne & delicious cookies. There is a $35.00 resort fee for every day you stay but you get an $18.00 food/beverage ticket to use at their bar. You can’t go wrong if you stay at The Alida.

Mixed Experience at The Alida – Beautiful Hotel, Severely Understaffed The Alida has a lot going for it—clean rooms, a fresh scent throughout the hotel, incredibly comfortable beds, and thoughtful touches like complimentary water and fruit in the hallways. Rhett’s restaurant was the highlight of our stay—the food was absolutely phenomenal, easily the best I’ve had in years. However, the experience was overshadowed by the hotel being drastically understaffed. When we arrived around 1:30 pm, there was no valet in sight. We waited for a long time before finally handing our keys to the front desk associate. She was juggling everything—checking guests in, running food, answering phones—while the valet was simultaneously trying to assist with luggage and manage front desk responsibilities. It was clear they were both doing their best, but the staffing level simply couldn’t support the guest load. The room itself had a couple of issues—the bathroom doors weren’t properly installed and banged loudly anytime you moved them, which also meant we could hear our neighbors doing the same. The countertops were stained and outdated, but nothing major there. The next morning, we went to make coffee in the room only to find the creamer had expired and ruined the coffee. I called the front desk to request more coffee and fresh creamer, and while they said they’d send it up, it never came—even after nearly an hour of waiting. Bottom line: the staff was clearly trying their hardest, but with such a low headcount, they couldn’t deliver even the most basic amenities they charge for. Until the hotel addresses its staffing issues, it’s hard to justify a premium price tag.

Nice hotel in great location near the river and nightlife. Great rooftop bar with live music some nights. A little loud at night when trying to sleep because of the proximity to bars and restaurants. I would have given a higher rating but for the hidden charge ($32 a day) for "amenities fee." While not all that uncommon, I resent this kind of secret charge you don't know about when you book.

Front desk people were friendly and very accomodating. Sparkling wine and cookies at check in. Rooftop bar Lost Square had terrific hummus sampler and cozy warm seating. Good restaurant for Breakfast too Rhett's. The AC/Heat could not be set below 66 degrees so the room was not at an ideal temp for sleeping. Windows do not open. Dog fee of $150 was much higher than most and did not come with any special dog stuff except milkbones at the front desk.

- 4/5
Really nice place, amenities were fabulous. A few problems with the room but nothing too serious.
- 4/5
Rooftop bar was not available 2 of the 3 nights due to private parties. Should have been offered other perks or discounts. I booked because of the rooftop. Otherwise, a decent stay for $ 400 per night.
- 3/5
The rooftop bar was very nice, but only open at 4:00 PM. No options for having coffee early AM and enjoying the view.
- 5/5
I loved the 2 king bed option for a large family. There was room for an air mattress. The book nook was cozy. The pool n bar was excellent. The $32 resort fee per day was outrageous. The $51 per day parking was steep. The location was perfect.
- 4/5
Our toilet seat was loose. The bedding was excellent. The accommodations in the room was good. I would had liked a microwave like the other hotels I have been to. The shower was big and roomy. The soaps, hand lotions and body wash, didn't like the smell so much. A bit too strong or musky. Overall though, we enjoyed our stay.
- 5/5
All of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable
- 4/5
Great location, cool vibe, excellent & friendly service. My room and the elevators needed a bit of maintenance, the insides of the elevators were pretty scuffed and worn and the main table in my room (desk/dressing/console under tv) was scuffed and scraped and someone had spilled red nail polish on it. It seems quite common in hotels these days to splash out on great decor and design but then not maintain it, which is a shame. Overall though, I would recommend the Alida, and it wouldn’t take much for them to turn it around to earn a well deserved 5 stars
- 5/5

We had a wonderful stay, very clean and perfect to get around downtown Savannah.

Beautiful hotel and great staff
- 5/5
We had a wonderful trip.
- 5/5
Loved the location right on the river. Easy to walk to Historic District. Lots of restaurants and bars. The hotel itself is well designed, modern. Our two king beds room was spacious, lots of storage. Bathroom was luxurious with wonderful smelling bath wash and lotion. Lots of little details, like Alida water bottles given to you at check-in and the water stations with a choice filtered, cold-filtered and sparkling water. Plenty of pillows on the beds. Well lit hallways. Lobby had plenty of seating areas. Valet parking is expensive but not unusual for a city hotel.
- 5/5
Wonderful scent! Front desk were very polite and helpful! As well as other employees. We’re accommodating due to the storm as well.
- 5/5
I attend a conference yearly in Savannah. This was the first time I have stayed at this property. I am confident that if available this will be my hotel of choice each year.
- 5/5
We stayed in the penthouse. The balcony was wonderful and made for a safe outdoor area for our two service dogs.
- 5/5
Superb hotel and amazing staff. We stayed in the Penthouse which had an outdoor patio.
- 4/5
We liked the water taps and refillable bottles the hotel provided. Nice beds and pillows, room was comfortable. We liked having a fridge drawer for drinks. We also liked the rooftop bar and lobby bar but drinks were overpriced. The TV didn’t work and needed to be reset. The shower door was warped and didn’t fully close. There was men’s hair from a shaver on the bathroom ledge. But overall it was a nice boutique hotel.
- 4/5
Cannot say enough y good things about this property. First time to book this property. Access to everything. Love the comfort of beds & pillows. Would definitely stay again!! Steffi
- 5/5
Love this property!
- 5/5
Great property with a good vibe. Pool was nice with a lot of chairs and umbrellas, and cabanas that can be reserved. The roof deck was great and very spacious. All of the hotel staff were wonderful and helpful. Also free champagne happy hour every evening.
- 5/5
I love this hotel and the area. The pool is small and could definitely have been way bigger and at least go to 5ft . However that doesn’t take away from the wonderful experience. Food at the hotel is delicious and the staff is amazing. Hotel is right on river street as well. Enjoyed everything
- 3/5
I didn’t like how I had to walk from the first to second floor to get water and ice for there to be no ice, have someone that doesn’t speak English tell me they will bring ice to my room, and they never did. I also didn’t like how at the pool we never got served and I had to walk up to the bar to order and wait at least 30 minutes for two dips just for them with two drinks to come out to $76. I also didn’t like how at the rooftop bar we ordered two drinks and our waitress left us mid order with no one to take her place just for us to flag someone else down to bring us a check. It was overall a nice time for us, but this trip definitely had its moments at the hotel that sometimes made the trip not fun.
- 5/5
Very fun place
- 5/5
Beds are super comfortable. Rooms are perfect. Would definitely stay here again.
- 5/5
Staff is friendly, nice relaxing music in lobby and bars. Rooms have king size beds and soft mattresses. Free water to drink from bottles they give you. Nice smelling soaps, shampoo, conditioners & lotions.
- 5/5
This property is absolutely perfect. Couldn't beat the location, it's refined vibe yet very comfortable. The rooms are superior to any other we have stayed in Savannah. Highly recommend. Staff is lovely.
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel. Great location. Excellent restaurant.
- 5/5
Exceptional and we will be back. Very impressed with hotel and such perfect hospitality. Beautiful roof top ! Great ambience and amazing views of beautiful Savannah!
- 5/5
I was overall satisfied with my stay. The staff was very accommodating. My only criticism would be there was no hot water in one of the rooms stayed in.
- 5/5
Pool area was busy but still able to find seats. All staff that we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Only downside to our room was that we were under the rooftop bar so could hear the thumping music at night. We had a white noise machine which helped out a lot.
- 5/5
The staff was very friendly and willing to go above and beyond to help out with any questions or recommendations and the too. Was very unique and we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the downtown area.
- 4/5
The hotel was nice and the staff is friendly. I just believe that there are better hotels in the area for cheaper.
- 4/5
Taxes and fees are a pain, significant cost you need to factor in
- 4/5
Everything at the alida from start to finish was excellent. The only comment I have was regarding the walls being pretty thin, you can hear doors slamming from across the hall and the bathroom sink makes a very loud noise when you run the water. Regardless, we had a wonderful 3 night experience here and would definitely stay again.

Very nice hotel in Savannah.
- 5/5
Going to River Street is fun looking in shops to me. We went to Exchange Tavern to eat lunch. They have really good crab chowder. Hamburgers, shrimp salad to name a few. Alida has several bars. Couple downstairs & 1 rooftop area. Also has the Rhett restaurant on site. Close to The J W Marriott The Plant. Which is right behind the Alida. I’ve have stayed at both hotels and there is plenty to do to stay entertained. They both have pools. Excellent!
- 5/5
Clean/nice in a great area
- 5/5
Had a great staycation at the Alida! The room was a perfect corner suite with an amazing view of the Talmadge Bridge! Could not have asked for a better night away!
- 5/5
On the Hotels.com website it said the pet fee was $100 at The Alida. When we arrived they charged us $150. Someone needs to get things updated !!!
