Nice and quiet place of rest from hustle and bustle of sightseeing. Valet was not always hospitable. They need to be trained in being more hospitable and less focused on car parking management.

Cavallo point has been my fav staycation spot. Love the tranquil location, well designed rooms and the mystic air. The facilities in the rooms are a little outdated and worn. The staff need some training for smiling. The only 2 time I saw smile was at the check-in and check out counter. For the rest of the time , the staff I saw seemed very stressed

The morning yoga was good one day (very peaceful and skillful teacher with excellent alignment cues), then pretty bad the next day with a different teacher (who was doing lots of annoyingly loud, smelly breath-work the entire class--with coffee breath; she used limited alignment cues so it felt fluffy and a bit unsafe). Sula had phenomenal food and vibe! Ate in the pub 3x and Sula's main room 3x. So many delicious vegetarian and vegan options. Scrumptious! But very expensive. I'd definitely take another trip to Cavallo and have already told my friends and family about it--just a perfectly lovely place in a perfectly gorgeous location. What a fun trip!

There was a “mixup” about room service, and the turn down service also did not come regularly. We had to make a few calls and the reaction was unexpected, not in a good way. In the big scheme of things it is not a big deal, but if you are paying a great sum of money to stay 4 nights with (price tag of close to $5000), and this is a very special treat for special occasions, then every detail counts.

Beautiful property that feels remote from the hectic nature of the city yet is convenient to the attractions of the Bay Area. We had a few issues that the hotel staff resolved to our satisfaction. One staff person was not gracious or friendly our first day but everyone else was so friendly and helpful that it made up for this first impression. We had a fabulous view of the Golden Gate Bridge and our room was well appointed and very comfortable.

Beautiful location with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Loved the Watercoloring class on Saturday morning and the restaurant had great food - recommend the carrot soup and steak!

The room was upstairs and quite warm. Couldn't figure out the hvac so we opened windows and when we came back after a hike, the room was comfortable. But then a huge storm blew in and we had to close the windows in the middle of the night.

Staff was great and facility was beautiful Outdoor hot tub was broken and this was very disappointing In gym hot tubs weren’t hot enough. We asked to come the next morning to sit on hot tub once it was repaired and we were told it was full. Then we put our names on a waiting list and we were called to buy another massage but not offered a spa visit. This was very disappointing.

Love the area, staff are the best , food is great , however our room was on the corner near check-in and the valet was parking in front , the cleaning staff and other housekeeping were literally right outside our window with their carts , that was not good Again the location of our room was not good

Room was decent. The shower head was rusty and had build up, the bed was not as comfortable, and the iron we had in our room was damaged and it ripped my satin skirt. The room was very humid and this place should have AC considering it’s over $500 a night.

Love this property! Bathrooms need updating as does the interior decoration of the contemporary rooms but the property is amazing. Staff has been extra friendly and helpful too.

My room was awful. There were pipes clamoring non-stop through the night. They were at 100% occupancy and unable to move us. They gave us a small offset on the bill, but doesn’t fix the fact we got so little sleep for 2 nights in a row. I’d never stay here again, nor recommend it to anyone.

Clean and comfortable rooms. Really enjoyed bath amenities - plenty of bath salts and even bubble bat. Service overall excellent. Note - there is only a ceiling fan to cool the room in the historic houses which was fine for October Autumn weather. Parking very convenient and steps from house.

The first room we were put in was right next tithe reception, and all night long there was lots lights from vehicles and noises, but then was asked then we asked to have our room change and they put us in the second from the last house down and was great!!! The property is beautiful. The breakfasts at Sula Restaurant were delicious. It’s a very dog friendly place. Very close to downtown Sausalito. Rooms are frumpy. No A/C and it was hot. Mattress and pillows not particularly comfortable. Nice closet for hanging but nowhere else to put clothes. Chambermaid service was intermittent and unreliable. Everything was very expensive. Lots of undisclosed fees on top of the room charge.

The staff was extremely kind and helpful with guidance to services and the shuttle into town. The views are stunning and the grounds are fun to walk. The bakery goods served at breakfast were a bit stale. A little awkward to get yourself hot coffee/tea in front of the front door/concierge/front desk.

Incredible stay- the property is beautiful and the staff are fabulous. If you are looking for a low-key but luxurious stay that you can enjoy with your canine companion(s), Cavallo Point is a great choice. You’ll enjoy views of the bay and SF from the whole property.

The location is 15-20 minutes from Sausalito, so if you are feeling lazy, you have to eat at the restaurants on site. The food is good, but pricey.

Only complaint is the water pressure in showers. Eco-friendly gone too far. For $900 a night, I'd like to be able to wash the shampoo out and feel refreshed.

So many amenities were included in our stay, such as 2 hours at the SPA daily, food credit, snacks & water in the room with an Expresso Machine. There were many hikes in the area & we “borrowed” ELECTRIC bikes & rode into Sausalito…. What a memorable & amazing RESORT!!

We booked this property because we have a Toddler and wanted an easy open space for him to run around. It also has a unique history and we’ve wanted to check it out for some time. Generally it was ok, but the food and staff were underwhelming. A rating of wonderful on this site I would say is not accurate for this property.

Booked a two bedroom adjoining suite - assumed each would have its own bathroom. Very disappointed-at this price point, that we had to share a bathroom. I communicated this to the resort who did offer a discount to “upgrade” to even larger accommodations. But after spending $1700 for our 12 hr stay - I declined their offer.

The contemporary rooms are awesome, the bar is very well stocked and the bartenders are knowledgeable. It is just a short hop across the GG to SF, and even closer to Sausalito. With the exception of the staff at reception the people here are friendly, welcoming, and helpful. This will be our “go-to” place for future trips to SF.

We had the most incredible time here- our only wish is that we had more time! We loved all of the amenities- blown away by service of the staff! We had a room upgrade which was so special, we loved the view of the bridge from our room so much we stayed in for room service so we could enjoy it! This property is one of my favorites! The views of the Golden Gate Bridge are incredible, as well as of the Bay. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant is very delicious. Downtown Sausalito is an easy car ride away, and the hotel offers transportation. From there, you can easily get to San Francisco from the ferry. I’d highly recommend this property if you’re looking for a relaxing experience!

Only feedback is that the walk to the room was a little awkward with heels and carrying our bags . They said the valet could drive us over but the valet was really busy and they said it would be a long wait.

Lovely stay as always. Came up to Cavallo since we had tickets to the symphony the next day. Even for 1 night it was just as wonderful as always. The history tours with Brit was great. All the staff are great. We took the parents up for their combined birthday and Xmas gifts (80 yrs old!) so it was extra special. Cavallo didn't disappoint. The historic room (803) we had was quaint and comfortable. The scenery is beautiful. The bed however was horrible. Rock hard mattress and the head of the bed was lower than the foot by 6”. The pillows were non existent mush. A happy getaway for our anniversary turned into a headache and sore back. We checked out first thing. The staff didn’t ask about our stay- otherwise I would have told them directly rather than leave a review.

My husband and I stayed one night for a birthday get away and it was wonderful. Would stay here again. Ordered in-room dining which was prepared very nice and good fast service too.

Nice and comfortable but the room was a bit cold and there is no thermostat you can adjust. It got better over time running the chimney. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room are very well maintained but could benefit from a refresh.

Hotel has beautiful grounds and priceless views. The staff goes above and beyond, food is fresh and delicious. The room was nothing to be excited about, felt very dark and blah, for myself it was fine but if i was staying with my husband I would have wanted something more wow. Ants on sink, fireplace vent kept falling off and the room phone was broken. I kind of felt like i was being punished for booking via hotels.com vs. the hotel. Again everything else wonderful.

Cavallo Point Lodge is a beautiful property with views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Great walking trails, shuttle to Sausalito. Great restaurants. So relaxing, just magical. Can’t wait to return

The stay was excellent except for the complimentary valet service taking an excessive amount of time getting my car back to me. I had a time-sensitive destination that I needed to get to. Great room amenities and seasonal lobby decor.

We stayed here for an anniversary trip and loved it. They upgraded us to a suite without even knowing it was our anniversary, which was so kind and generous, and it was so comfortable and beautiful with views of the bridge. Loved all of the amenities and the restaurant was great. Perfect for a romantic getaway and would definitely stay again!

Beautifully restored military base that used to protect the straight into San Francisco Bay. Now part of the National Park. E-bike rentals come with your stay along with joy rides in Lexus cars. We tried the convertible hot rod and drove to Tiberon. Hiking trails right from the grounds. Epic views of Golden Gate and downtown SF.

Nice place and worth staying but overpriced

Room was awful. Bathroom had no counter space.

They have great transportation options to Sausalito, including a shuttle and rental cars. The staff is friendly and very helpful as well.

Check in, Farley Bar, Valet attendants are amazing service. The only thing that needs help is detail to the cleanliness. We were at one of the historic buildings and the front porch with the chairs, the table had metal plates that looked like it was from a heater or something mechanical and a almost empty Rock Star can. It sat there for 24+ hrs./ No one came to clean or pick it up. It was such beautiful weather it would have been nice to sit outside our room on the porch to have our wine but the porch area was gross, dirty and used.

Classic place with tons of history and views of the golden gate and the city. Wonderful location.

The views and serene environment, coupled with the availability of painting and cooking classes, the spa, yoga, and hiking tours makes this the perfect place to unwind and focus on self care. The staff are so very helpful as well. The next time I find myself in the area, I will definitely think of Cavallo Point first.

I found a foreign hair on the sink . Other the. That i believe the rest was ok.

I also booked this room for my parents for their 40th wedding anniversary and there was no note or anything saying congrats and they charged the room to my parents credit card which made for an awkward encounter as they were leaving and I really did not want them to know what the room cost. I would say the staff not very knowledgable on appropriate ettiquette

Always love this place. Had poor experience at restaurant. Don't mind the prices, but quality was low. The room are starting to feel dated.

Beautiful property with great service. It’s important to know that the pool is part of the spa and kids are not allowed at the pool.

Being next to the discovery center cannot be beat if you have younger kids. On site restaurant was good. Staff is amazing. Quick hop back into the city. Marin at your fingertips. I cannot wait to go back!!!

Rooms are big, clean, spacious. But overall it is quite expensive. Breakfast was not included. And they charged (racketed) us 120$ for the « free services » they were offering like electric bike and car that we did not used at all… IMO they’re are better and cheaper option in the area.

This is one of my favorite hotels. It’s such a unique and charming property. It is a fantastic launching point if you want to hike Mt Tam and/or head to Muir Woods. It’s great to grab a ferry ride from Sausalito to SF, or simply to get a treatment at the spa. Sula’s is amazing! If you are into wine, you have to try their “orange wine.” It’s incredible! Too many good things to say about this spot to put into one review. The only criticism we had was regarding the beds. They were too hard and not particularly comfortable. That said, this place is truly delightful. We will be coming back to Cavallo Point as soon as possible!

Needless to say, I would not be getting this kind of service at a JW Marriott or Ritz Carlton for a similar rate. Very disappointed.

Beautiful peaceful place for weekend getaway. Gorgeous views. Easy to park the car, electric car chargers. Nice restaurant for breakfast. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends

This was the first time we stayed at Cavallo Lodge and it was amazing . Staff very helpful, and informed us on all the amenities available . The room ( the commanders suite) was amazing with breath taking views of SF bay. The suite was very comfortable, clean and very spacious. They offered turn down service , which is an added comfort. The only neg was the parking, our suite had its own parking space but someone else parked there which made us park a distance from . They offer free rental electric bikes which we thoroughly enjoyed. They have a spa which I wasn’t able to enjoy due to time So many amenities. We definitely will stay here again! It was a beautiful place to celebrate our anniversary. Cavalla lodge was the original Fort Baker base and it was redone tastefully but still has the historic charm. The restaurants at the lodge were very good and reasonably priced. We so enjoyed our stay , we’ll book for longer stay next year!!
