Reviews
The hotel is praised for its quaint and historic charm, friendly and accommodating staff, and great location. Many guests also appreciate the free bottle of wine and coffee, as well as the on-site restaurant and coffee shop. However, some guests mention issues with noise, either from traffic or other guests, and a few mention problems with cleanliness or maintenance.

We had dinner in the restaurant and found it to be excellent, both quality of food and service. We didn't realize we would be on the second floor and necessitate stairs, which were steep.

Only stayed one night, but room was clean and bed was VERY big and comfotable.

We absolutely love staying in this cozy boutique hotel. It’s our second time this year and we love the convenient location and how comfortable it is! We were a bit confused on how to get to the room. A couple on the deck had to help us locate it.

Location: room was Above the restaurant. Stairs were not mentioned, glad I could climb them. Uncomfortable bed, toilet was very low.

Close to everything. They gave us the wrong passcode and it took almost two hours to get ahold of any staff to help get the write passcode.

Location was good. Room well equipped. Noisy AC, plugs for coffee maker on counter didn’t work. I had to use a plug in the other room.

Room was amazing. Everything was so good Could’ve been more towels and trash bags

The chef was kind enough to sell me a bottle of water when I arrived back late in the evening after the restaurant was closed. I had to go through the restaurant to get to my room. My room faced a busy street. My view of the inner courtyard was a window over the toilet that was blocked by a black curtain.

The location was good as well as the cost . There was a little table to eat as well as being provided with snacks . The restaurant was excellent. There was not a lot of storage in the bathroom . I didn’t realize our room was on a 2nd floor which was difficult for us carrying suitcases up the stairs .

Its location to down town I thought we would have a cute cafe on site but it was out of commission since January. I was told that this property recently exchanged hands. There is no staff except for the staff at the restaurant who were not helpful. Clearly we looked lost trying to get into our room and they didn’t offer up any assistance and our interaction actually felt pretty rude. I texted back and forth about the cafe with a woman named Rachele who was off site staff. She assured me there was no advertising for the cafe because of their renovations but clearly that wasn’t true considering, it was part of the reason i chose this location for the evening. The only solution that was offered up was a full refund if I chose to leave but that would have been an even bigger inconvenience. They also claim to be dog friendly but they said I couldn’t bring my Labrador. The street noise was pretty difficult to sleep through but it is located in Downtown Sarasota. The rooms were cute but the floors had a lot of damage that looked like termite damage. We were located in the second floor bayside room. Overall, we had a place to rest our heads that night that was a quick uber ride from where we hung out that night but had I known about the cafe, I would have rather found a less expensive option and paid less elsewhere.

The stay was pleasant. The Reserve has a very good location with a great restaurant on the premises.

The room was uncomfortable with the stange bathroom set up with barely any privacy, the lack of a chair to sit on, the lack of comfortable blanets and pillows on the bed, the old TV that didnt allow for personal app sign in, and the lack of an outlet on both sides of the bed. Money was spent on the unnecessary design and not spent on making guests comfortable. Additionally, the check in experience was poor since we waited a long time while one agent checked her email instead of turning around to see a line had formed and the other agent took forever to get her attention. When we did finally get to check in, the email-checking agent was also quite rude in her attitude. The breakfast was awful with soggy eggs, greasy bacon, burned sausage, sticky oatmeal, and a toaster that burns the toast. So from the room, to the staff, to the breakfast, this was a terrible experience. Thankfully at least the bed was comfortable, the curtains kept out the light, and the space was clean - so the bare minimum was met. But at almost $900, I expect far more for my money.

The historical aspect of the house was what drew me to the place. That did not disappoint. The description of the property was a little deceptive. One of my main reasons for staying there was that there was supposed to be a cafe on site. The cafe was closed for our entire stay. I was led to believe that there was a nice patio to sit and enjoy my coffee. That was not true. There were restaurant tables outside and another table in the driveway. I wish I had of been informed that I would have to walk through the small restaurant while people were enjoying their meals to get to my room. Very uncomfortable experience.

Such a cute place to stay! Wonderfully comfortable beds and a lovely Cafe & restaurant below our room!!! Would definitely stay here again.! Shower was a bit small

The accommodations were charming and full of quaint, old-school character, creating a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The on-site café was a standout—delicious food, great coffee, and clearly made with care. The location was convenient yet peaceful, and the staff was warm and welcoming. A lovely boutique hotel experience we’d happily recommend! Everything was great.

The Reserve Retreat is in a great location, close to everything. The bathroom has no ventilation making the floors in the room wet, the part of the floor that is wood is ruined. One part was cracked and the tile was chipped definitely didn't want to step on that with bare feet. The stairs to the room were so steep, there is no light switch at the top of the stairs. So the light from the little hallway shines in the door unless you chose to traverse the stairs with your cell phone flashlight. You can hear everything from the streets, and right outside. The Retreat is on a very busy street so be prepared to hear cars all night long. We left one night early, so we could sleep.
