Super 8 by Wyndham Sarasota Near Siesta Key

The hotel receptionist refused to give us an accessible room. He claimed there was no availability, yet we were able to verify with the housekeeping staff that accessible rooms were indeed available. Instead, he made an 86-year-old woman go up and down stairs all weekend long.

I knew Super 8 was a gamble but thought the Wyndham affiliation would have more quality control. Unfortunately we had to find other accommodations. The place was newly painted with new furniture but there was a terrible smell in the room that I could not tolerate. We stayed one night and the smell was so bad it woke me up at night. We left the next day. The staff was friendly, offered a different room but we decided to move on.

We got what we need a clean and safe places to sleep on are vacation

The TV did not have any channels that didn't have to pay for and were fuzzy on the only channel that you didn't have to pay. When I went into the pool dirt pooled up. Other than that it was ok.

Holds cigarette smoke stains, unchained sheets, worst place I’ve ever been to in my life

Worst stay. The rooms smell terrible, as if they are not being cleaned and the linens are not being washed. The air conditioner filter is also extremely dirty, like it hasn’t been replaced in a very long time. There were even cockroaches on the pillowcases. Not recommended.

about all you can/should expect. rooms have a "moofie" odor (property had low occupancy, so I was able to try a 2nd (& third) room; last one was slightly better) ... but otherwise clean and comfortable.

Breakfast was a con, it needs work,cold breakfast poor quality,no decaf coffee. Pro, ac was very good, cleanliness super points as well as hot water, tv channels a plus. Comfortable bed and pillows, i wish i could purchase then,great for my bad neck.

AC was fine. No one was at the desk when I arrived, and another person was also waiting. When the desk person arrived, he barely acknowledged our presence. He barely spoke to me. But was very efficient at giving me the room key. I wouldn't choose to stay here again.

I recommend this place for an one night stay if an affordable price matters. I hope they will have repaired their flashing led light in the Looby when i will be coming back.

Room had old beer bottles that my 4yr old found. Washer and dryer don’t work. Internet went out most of the stay came back on the last night. Floors need extra work very dirty. Pillow had old stains on it but someone just covered it with a pillowcase.

The room was very clean and in great condition and internet was very good. The laundry facilities didn’t work and the staff was very nice. Though the walls are very thin, could hear the neighbors and their tv all night.

We first stayed at this Super 8 in 2017 when it was newly renovated and were very impressed. Since then it appears that regular maintenance has not kept the property to that standard.

Not the fault of the management but someone smoked in the room prior to our stay. It was covered up by some air freshener so we could not immediately tell but became more and more obvious especially when we came back the second night. They might as well remove the TVs because the internet is so slow that all it does is buffer. Won’t stay there again.

Our room was gross smelled terrible made it really hard to stay there. It smelled heavily of urine or soiled diaper which made sense when we found a dirty diaper at the bottom of the dresser in the room. Bathroom smelled like wet dirty towels and there was a very suspicious hole under the toilet paper dispenser that looked like it could a hidden camera in it which was unsettling. Laundry machines were broken . Ice machine did work. Pool was a bit cloudy and not very clean. WiFi was spotty

Friendly staff, pretty clean, location was quiet but in an older neighborhood annd the building is dated. Had ann issue with AC that couldn’t be addressed, constant fan couldn’t be controlled. Areas of room had no light and bathroom could have used some hooks or something. It served the purpose of being close to SRQ for an early flight the next morning.

Needs updated not real clean

The room was not very clean. I always wear socks on a tile floor and they were filthy while only being worn in the room. The sink fixture wasn't secured and moved when you turned on the faucet. As was the toilet paper holder in the bathroom. Although there was a sign on the vanity mirror stating towels and sheets would be changed after 3 days, or more often upon requests, nothing was done. We stayed 4 nights and never received clean towels, sheets, nor trash emptied. When we inquired at the front desk, we were told we had to ask regardless of what the signage stated in room. Person at desk was very hard to understand and not at all helpful. The pool was full of leaves. It was professionally cleaned the 2nd day we were there but it was by a large tree and the leaves continually blew in. No one ever used the skimmer to remove the leaves. Most of the pool furniture was filthy and broken. Hotel is on an extremely busy and noisy road. Internet was spotty and TV kept freezing up. Very disappointing!!

The pool looked very clean, I didn't go in. Tub, shower was very clean. Room had a slight smell that I got used to quickly. I was there for 11 days visiting family in nearby hospital. Very basic breakfast, but did the job. Coffee maker in room was also keurig. Room titled as having a wet bar had a lot of space. For the price it was fine.

The phone in the room was not working so I had to walk to the lobby to communicate and let them know The shower pole was coming apart from the walls. Otherwise the hotel room was clean and staff was nice.

It’s an older motel. Apparently, they clean with something that is not pleasant (smells funny). The room seemed clean.

There were no additional towels for the following days. The coffee filters did not match the coffee maker type at all, so no in roof coffee. The TV required wifi and a passcode to turn on which didn't work. Not convenient.

Blanket's had dark stains on them. There was no not even one wastebasket in the room. It smelled like dogs. The door did not latch well. I could easily see out. Probably a half inch crack on the door. Room number 115

Great pool. Great stay. Only thing was check in was 2 pm, but the staff was nowhere to be found. Made us wait 10 min. If you’re check-in is @ 2, you should be waiting to check people in @ 2 pm.

We were supplied with 2 towels for our week. Housekeeping staff never changed them or the trash. The pool was colder than the pools in Michigan. Breakfast consisted of bread for making toast and stale fruit loops. You could never find anyone in the front office when needed. No security, which means guests were yelling all night or pounding on doors. There was also a sign in the lobby that said pets were not allowed, but somehow there was dog poop in the grass all around the rooms.

Super 8's are known to be a budget hotel chain, this one being an older one with updates underway. The staff gives you 100% effort. Nick took very good care of us and met our needs as they arised. Nick and his family work very hard. I would stay here again.

We walked in and there was faeces tracked in all around the food area could smell it just left Went for breakfast somewhere else.

I GOT MOVED FROM A 2nd floor room, to a room on the ground floor.. AND on the corner.🙂, HOWEVER It was in THE SAME AREA WHERE THEY WERE MAKING ALL THAT NOISE....Just 1 floor lower, and 1 room over!😳😫😡 I feel that: Managers, Proprietors, Etc .. Should ABSOLUTELY Inform EVERY GUEST about construction, loud contractors, etc .. so if The travelers want to change their mind about staying there they can make that choice before they get to the room or they happen to hear the loud banging in construction going on at 6:00 in the mornin

the room did not feel clean. the AC is super noisy. one morning, a staff tried to barge into our room and it turned out to be a mistake. did not knock. the conditions of the room and building was not the best. there were holes in the sheets on bot beds inside.

The room smelled like cigarettes, the toilet lid was broken,They didn't give us a towel change service in 2 days. This is a hotel only if you have plans to only go to sleep and only stay for a day or 2 days maximum to solve where to sleep.

The AC was leaking inside the room, and I nearly slipped this morning. The room had an unpleasant odor. The pools were in very poor condition—so dirty that you couldn’t even see the bottom. Cleanliness and maintenance clearly need significant improvement.

The room was clean. The property looked unkempt. The staff was nonchalant. Staff did not open the office for breakfast and were sleeping on the sofa. Breakfast was barely breakfast, packaged mini muffins, cereal, and that was about it. The WiFi did not work and kept kicking us out of our streaming app. AND it wasn't inexpensive. The night we stayed cost us $200, likely because it was near spring break week, but still ridiculous for what it was.

Walls are paper thin and you can hear the people in the next room super clear as if they are standing in your room. I booked a non smoking room but the room I was placed in smelled like a cigarette ashtray which triggered my asthma. The office was closed by the time I accessed the room so I was unable to discuss the issue and change rooms.

Very dirty. Felt unsafe like drugs were being sold downstairs from us. We planned to stay 2 nights while passing through but just stayed 1 night. Mold growing in the shower and WiFi was non-existent

The hotel has amazing staff extremely knowledgeable and friendly, nice clean rooms with great hot water pressure, comfy clean beds with no stains, no bed bugs, no cockroaches and no mold. The air conditioning works great, new TV, Wi-Fi is included with our stay, and a nice variety of options in the light continental breakfast. I highly recommended this hotel. They book up fast! Will definitely stay here again! Nice pool, great location close to everything, and they have a laundry facility for guests, that is reasonably priced, clean machines.

Firstly, when we arrived to the property, I thought that maybe we had the wrong address because the exterior of the building was poor and kind of looked abandoned. Secondly, during check-in, I was never asked about my method of payment. It was automatically taken off of the card that was supposed to be used solely for $100 deposit, but okay. I asked for bottles of water to purchase and was given the answer, “ I only have 3, and they’re mine from home”. So, there was no water or other drinks, snacks, etc that were an option. Thirdly, we were moved rooms 3 times! The first room smelled like someone had smoked 12 packs of cigarettes 1 hour prior to our arrival. I went to take a shower in the second room and there was no water. The third room was doable, but by that time I was exhausted to have to move again. Fourthly, the area around the pool was filthy, we even seen a crack pipe by the gate! There was a rusted grill sitting by the gate. The actual pool was full of leaves and unclean. Fifthly, there were not many restaurants or stores to conveniently walk to. I had to uber eat for bottled waters, drinks, and snacks. I hate that I had to write such a horrible review, but our experience was horrible! Mine you we were visiting FL for a funeral, so these inconveniences were not received well.

I have never seen a place so bad. When walking in to the office there was someone sleeping on the couch snoring, while the other got me set up. When walking into the room first you see blood stains and dirt up the walls, then notice the old lights with no lamp shades. Then you see the grey supposed to be white pillow cases, then when you move the cases you see a mess of bugs run down the back of the bed. Then try and take the blankets off and you realize real fast they just made the bed as there are stains and hair all over the sheets. I got brave and looked into the bathroom and yup the mold, the stains and the smell was unreal. Expedia is to blame for these dumps, as they do not vet the hotels and the reviews, and then try and cancel and it’s unreal hard, Expedia wants you to deal with the hotel for the refund that you paid to Expedia. With all that said, this place should be closed down, amd the health dept has to be called.

The air conditionin was not cooling down or blowing enough to cover the whole room .even though I lowered to 60, me and my husband were sweating from the room temperature.

It was so nasty I literally left all my luggage in my car and the lock was broke I didn’t feel safe at all I literally changed my clothes in my car and didn’t take food in there until I was ready to eat it I literally left everything in my car wouldn’t ever go there again!!

If all you need is one night, then it might suit you. Beds were fairly clean, and so was the floor. Bathroom was tiny and had musty odor to it. Front desk people were fast and friendly. If you call breakfast a cup of coffee, then you will like the included one. Not a terrible experience, but not a place I'll stay again.

Trash cans overflowing, should be empty more than once a day. Bed was to soft no support. Cleaning ladies awesome. Rooms clean, place quiet at night, owners/desk very helpful. Breakfast has a lot to be desired and the set up is not flowing and crowded by tables outside area was not open and had a mattress on the patio.

I’ve stated the Ritz Carlton and I’ve stated super eight sometimes even at Motel 6 when I was a kid. This was above the typical super eight standard, I am a winner rewards member, but I did not book through Wyndham this time. The staff was friendly and welcoming, my room was clean, well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. I am visiting my daughter in boarding school every other weekend when she is allowed to have visitation and have booked my next four weekends with this exact same hotel because I’ve been very happy. The pool is clean and nice, the parking lot is , as expected, I feel the unit is safe and it’s close to lots of restaurants and shopping.

I just did not like the stay and I will not stay there again

There was a construction crew partying in parking lot until very early hours. Another guest was there yelling through out the night about his wi-fi being out. Visible mildew in bathroom. Looks like they tried to paint over top of it. Strong chemical smell in room. The kids were running front desk which isn’t a problem but they were not professional or welcoming, more if a burden to them.

Good location. Definitely improved since our stay a year ago (in 2023). Ownership has remodeled and seems cleaner. That said, property is only average for high price. The shower had great water flow. Nice wide and separate sink vanity area. Large room. Detractions ... Toilet very low to ground and rocked. Room very damp. Excessive use of pungent room deodorizer.

The air conditioning didn't work well at all. This was the absolute worst issue of the room. Rooms needed more attention to detail. Shower rod was taped. The cabinet holding the refrigerator was rotting from where it had gotten wet. The pool was not cleaned. If we got into it we had to use the skimmer it clean it.

The room was clean, but some parts of the room are in need of replacement. The chair arm was burnt and generally dirty, the phone buttons were missing, and the shower curtain rod was falling off the wall. The bed was comfy and clean and the tv was nice and large. Fair warning about the breakfast... its only frozen waffles, cereal and hard boiled eggs. we book are stays where we can get a decent breakfast before our day starts and this one was disappointing. Overall for the price it was a nice stay.

The grounds need attention, it is not well kept and tired. Pool was dirty. My neighbors argued a good part of the night was constantly being woken.

The rooms do not have HD TV service, but there is HD TV in the lobby. I inquired: in the lobby the staff has some special hook-up, providing them with HD quality. What's up with this? You get teased in the lobby, only to be disappointed in your room? Not good. The staff should sit and watch analog TV like the rest of us. For that matter, why are they sitting and watching TV anyway? The place could use sprucing up.

Stated that bed sheets and room would be cleaned after the 3rd day of stay, stayed for 7 days, and our room was not cleaned, bed sheets not changed, and had to go ask if we can get fresh towels.

The room had a strong chemical smell which persisted for the duration of our 2 night stay. I was told it was due to a floor cleaner that they use. There were a handful of black specs under the bedcovers too.

Cast off mattresses in patio area and visible elsewhere. Patio mattress appears in photo submitted in earlier review. Room smelled heavily of Fabreez or similar, suggesting they don't so much as clean as mask odors. Lobby breakfast area not well maintained. Breakfast offerings only barely passable. I expect the the property to deteriorate.

It was extremely noisy. We were next to living quarters?? Loud talking past 3:00am! A dated motel - clean to the point of smelling like Lysol.

It was a decent place to stay. Rooms were ok, but very small bathrooms. Fortunately the sinks were outside bathroom. Microwave, fridge, & pool were nice. Breakfast had several different choices including frozen waffles, but boiled eggs were the only protein.

Old, smelly room, loud (thin walls, party going on in the parking lot with people breaking bottles and screaming with loud music blasting); I walked out, and it was a hassle to obtain a refund. This was the WORST experience of staying at a hotel that I have ever had. This property should be blacklisted and removed permanently from Expedia's portfolio of available properties. I later found out that it has a horrible reputation around town. The description and photos on the website did not match reality at all.

Not a beach around like their pictures show

By SRQ, I had Expedia points, room has cable, was super cheap so that's why I chose it. Attendant were so nice I hate to give my honest review. But if you're sensitive to smells or expect a standard of cleanliness, this is not for you. If you don't care about that, and just need the cheapest place next to the airport, then this is your place. Know that there is a $100 deposit. Also, my reservation was non-refundable. If not for that, I would have left right after seeing/smelling the room (it and reception/dining area have overpowering deodorizer scent). I don't care about the deposit, but there were several things wrong with the room so I'd better not be charged for them. One was that there was a dark, raised, rough-textured stain around the the sitting surface of the toilet seat. I brought to attention of staff but he said it was plastic and wear, not soiled (looked like adhesive that stained over time. This is a germ trap due to the texture). After he left, I saw a stain on one of the bed spreads (I do have pics of these, and I slept on the other bed). I didn't call front desk again about the stain on the unused bed since the standard clearly isn't high here, I was so tired, and NFL game had started. Worry about deposit return. I went to check out laundry/ice/vending machines. Guys, I cannot make this up, there was a broken, used, dismantled toilet right next to the ice machine /vending machines! I felt imprisoned to my non-refundable reservation.
