We had a great time, especially the kids....

The outside of the hotel looks a bit older, but they were fixing it up and improving it. The lobby needs some love and attention, but the most important part (the room) was excellent. Clean, nice and cool A/C, and all the amenities. We arrived on a Friday evening, about 8pm and there was a line to check in and only one person behind the desk. They compensated our wait with a free drink voucher at the Tiki bar, which we enjoyed later - so that was nice. Good place to stay in that area for a reasonable price.

I was wary of booking an older looking hotel but I was amazed at the cleanliness and upkeep of the property. Having the daily housekeeping and loads of fresh towels were wonderful. The tiki bar is massive; loved the vibe of this property; what a pleasant surprise.

Newly updated large rooms and freezing cold AC. Nice friendly Tiki bar onsite with good drinks and the hotel is in a quiet area.

Stayed here just one night but have zero complaints. Had one small issue but the woman working was so nice and fixed it with no issues. The pool was nice and relaxing and the room looks like it was just updated and was extremely clean. Would stay again.

We enjoyed our stay at lantern Inn. Was there the weekend for a baseball tournament. The staff was very nice. The rooms had just been remodeled, very clean. The pool and the tiki bar were awesome. Met some friendly people at Jimmy’s on 41 Tiki bar. Will definitely stay there again.

The pool and surrounding area was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the tiki bar but not the smoke. The front desk took care of our needs.

Great property for a short stay

The outside had that “Old Florida” and was so nice! Inside, the rooms were very modern, clean, and nice. The pool was excellent. Even with the bar right there, it was never loud or crazy. We had a great stay and will definitely return if we’re in the area!

The front desk staff was amazing. Zero complaints there. The tiki bar was lively and really added to the ambience… but the rooms reeked so badly of cleaning products - it was overpowering. The smell was unbearably strong. Gave me an headache and I couldn’t stay there. I didn’t even fight for a refund, I just checked out immediately and never came back. Housekeeping wasn’t particularly kind to me either (and this was before I even entered the room). I understand people have their days, but she was particularly unpleasant with me even after I smiled and said hello. The woman at the front desk was stellar. None of this is a reflection on her.

Beautifuly well stocked room. Clean property. Kind smile upon check in and great service from the bartender. Absolutely recommend and will visit back.

Overall, very nice place to stay essentially located around all the baseball fields and a great value

It’s just north of the airport but still in Sarasota on US 41. We often stay at a place, BHR further south on the trail — very happy to have found this hidden gem here. There are so many little details that prove leaps and bounds above anything offered at other place. Highly recommended.

The elevator working properly but I’ll guess it need to be updated and clean ! The swimming pool very clean , we did love it. The only down for us was they advertised breakfast included and we quickly found out it was not provided, when show them the ad the only thing they said they will updated in the site to no breakfast included. The staff was some how ok! I’ll guess for the price it was good !

This hotel is actually really nice for the price! Its accross from a marina so if you have a boat there its really accessible by just walking accross the street. Lots of restaurants nearby by foot car or boat!

The tiki bar out front was really cute. The room was nice and spacious. Decent size fridge and a nice bathroom size. The hot shower and nice smelling shampoo and conditioners were a lovely ending to a nice day on the beach.

I stay pretty often. Always a pleasant stay. Comfortable beds, i enjoy the drink voucher tgat comes with Expedia.

The hotel needs a lot of improvements and is right in Highway 41 and the planes fly right over it so it’s very noisy. The do not serve any time of breakfast as well. For the price and other reviews, I expected a much nicer place. I will never be back.

I was pleasantly surprised. My room was very clean and everything was upgraded and nice, it reminding me of a 4 star hotel. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash was provided in the shower. The toilet was high and not sitting so low. They supplied lotion and a care kit. The place is really nice and I will be staying there again.

Room was clean. Staff was kind. Felt safe, cameras everywhere and good illumination. Only thing is the building could have a better care (stairs) and the pool. But overall was pretty good.

Came to Sarasota for the weekend and got on Expedia to find me a decent deal with a high rating. This place came up and at an affordable price. I liked how a lot of different restaurants and things to do were near. The beaches are about 20-30 minutes away and the locals were very friendly! The hotel employees were very friendly as well. They had a tiki bar right on the property near the pool. The pool was nice, clean and maintained, we very much enjoyed it. The room was very nice and spacious! The bathroom had so much space, it was definitely a PLUS!! The tv was a good size and kept updated. Overall a well maintained place and I would book again with them in the future. Wish I took pictures….

This property is a diamond-in-the-rough. Exterior of the property needs some attention. They are working on it. However, rooms are SUPER CLEAN and have been updated. Plenty of safe parking. There is a WONDERFUL Tiki bar which is frequented by colorful locals. It is close to the airport, but I did not have an issue with noise. I will stay again!

Great value for the money. The room was clean, the pool was decent, and the tiki bar had affordable drinks which was a nice touch. Nothing overly glamorous, but exactly what you’d expect at this price point. It’s located near the airport and a main road, so there is some noise, but they thoughtfully provide ear plugs in the room. Overall, we were very happy with our stay for what we paid.

This hotel was fantastic! We arrived late from a delayed flight into Sarasota and they were kind, friendly, and helpful. The tiki bar was also very fun. Rooms were spacious and very clean.

The location worked well for me since it was close to where my friends were staying, so that was definitely a plus. The only downside was that there seemed to be quite a few empty rooms, so I feel like I could have been given a room with a better view. Other than that, everything was nice, and I had no issues during my stay. For a quick overnight stop, it did the job, and I wouldn’t mind staying there again.

This is an older property that has undergone renovations that generally are good. The room was exactly as pictured on the web site and very clean and comfortable, had plenty of towels, and despite being close to the airport, it was quiet enough for undisturbed sleep. A suggestion: install a cabinet to enclose the unit refrigerator and microwave as the refrigerator wobbled when opening the door. The other appliance, assuming it was a dehumidifier did work well as their was no musty smell at all, but it made a good bit of humming noise. Could this be in a cabinet as well somehow? It was a

Very Clean and quiet

We loved this place. We rented 3 rooms, all of them immaculately clean. One did have an issue with mustiness in the damp FL weather. The staff immediately moved us without issue or hesitation. The heated pool was relaxing with our super energetic 9 year old. The bar and fire pit both looked super inviting but we didn't get a chance to partake. The staff were all very friendly and helpful! We really appreciated how well everything went. Will definitely consider again and recommend to our friends!

Stayed here as a home base for a week while attending Spring Training games. The updated rooms are very nice and clean. Staff was always polite and helpful. The smallish pool area is lovely. The Tiki Bar was fantastic and always hopping. It is obvious the management/ownership is interested in continuing to make upgrades and improvements to the property. I would certainly stay there again.

It had a quaint Tiki Bar and a lovely pool area. The rooms were updated and clean. It was under renovation so the signs of that were all around. There was a large group of adults swimming fully clothed in the evening which prevented us from swimming after dark.

It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in in my entire life. The room had an odor I couldn’t sleep because the light came into the room. The dehumidifier and the air conditioner was so loud. I wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy.

The whole stay was great from check in to check out. The room was immaculate and comfortable. We went to the onsite tiki bar and the bartender was personable and when he dint have what I wanted (he did say he had a bottom shelf liquor for the drink I wanted but it wasn’t the best) he whipped me up a drink based on the type I wanted to drink. I will be back in the area in a month and will definitely stay there again.

the door didn't fit properly, you could see daylight on the bottom and since it sits right on the highway it was VERY loud traffic noise, not possible to get a good night's sleep.

Check in was a breeze. We were sent a text to get it all going so that when we got to the hotel, the gentleman just had to confirm a couple of things and hand over the keys. We stayed 4 days and were quite comfortable. The room had been recently updated, spotless, and comfortable. My only issues with the room was that there wasn’t blackout shades so the light right outside lit up the whole room at night and the metal platform beds were a bit noisy if you just brushed up against them. Otherwise, no problem at all. We felt safe in the area and there were cameras everywhere. It was quiet even with being off a main road and only a couple miles from the airport. We didn’t get a chance to check out the tiki bar but will make sure we do next time.

Staff was very disappointing, My wife and I were treated like 3rd rate citizens... I travel 40 to 60 nights a year, and I have NEVER been talked to like this!! Ridiculous!!

We were in town for a tournament at IMG and the hotel is 12 min away - extremely convenient location, also 10 min from all grocery stores. The staff was amazingly welcoming and the place was spotless. Would definitely choose it again.

The room has been updated and very comfortable. Thought we would be bothered by airplane noise, but we weren't. Staff was courteous and friendly. Tiki bar was friendly and full of locals.

The room was great, the staff wonderful. We enjoyed the little tiki bar had some wonderful bloody Mary’s for breakfast. The only unfortunate was the weather was too cold to go in and swim, which would’ve been fun. We will definitely visit again.

The water pressure in the shower was awesome! The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. Our TV just shut off one night and we were very concerned they would think we broke it or something. The team sent someone in and fixed it and didn’t charge us any incidentals. The area is incredible your minutes away from some of the best beaches and attractions in the country and the airport is literally 5 mins away. The front office checks in by text throughout your stay should you need anything and are extremely kind through text. Thank you for the great hospitality!

Being next to an airport, sometimes early in the AM a jet comes by the runway nearest the hotel and got loud enough to wake me up.

The room was nice and updated, and very clean. The hotel is along a busy road, so the traffic noise was pretty bad, until 10:00ish. I wondered why they had packets with ear plugs in them, but then I figured it out. Would still consider staying there again though.

I’ve stayed at low cost and high cost places and never had the hotel personally reach out about my stay. I had a minor issue that was immediately taken care. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again.

The staff was super nice and helpful. The room was clean but the areas was abysmal. I didn’t feel safe for myself or my car. I tried contacting Expedia three times via chat and was told that I didn’t have a reservation. The hotel was willing to refund my money but because Expedia did not recognize that I had a reservation, I was unable to cancel through Expedia. Because expedia did not address my issue, the hotel was unable to refund my money.

I am Walking Across America for Mental Health Awareness & Recovery, over 9,100 miles! I have been in the Manatee County, Florida area for a little while, as I’ve been covered some extra distance and meeting people. This hotel has been freshly renovated, and they have amazing grades as they are trying to let people know where to go around here, especially if you want a really nice room and save a few bucks compared to everything else in the area! The people have been very friendly, And the rooms are definitely nice. Pretty good size TV as well. Definitely enjoyed it!

Rooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious, parking was easy, and the front desk staff was friendly. The pool was nice and clean and the bar was fun with plenty of options and a friendly bartender. With it being less than 20 minutes from the beach, it’s a great option. Will definitely come back.

Recent renovations made this a fantastic place to stay for a very good price. No breakfast is a negative.

The room was excellent, everything was new and clean. New furniture, bathroom fully modernized, new large TV, new tile flooring...everything was great! You're not getting things like bottled water in the room or breakfast, but for what you pay its an excellent value and the room is top notch and clean. Maid service daily too.

The room was clean. We only met 2 staff members and they were fine. There seems to be construction going on with the property. Only one ice machine on ground level. Elevator needed cleaned. The bed was not comfortable.

The staff was nice. The interior was clean and comfortable and without any smell (which was great!). Perhaps the fact that the hotel is undergoing some renovation, which makes it a bit unorganized from outside. But otherwise, it was a great stay for us.

The rooms are great. Updated and clean. The courtyard was nice with pool and tiki bar. Overall quiet motel, although right next to a busy road. The dehumidifier in the room, along with the AC unit drowned it out pretty well. I enjoyed my stay here. Double check the dehumidifier before going to bed as it went off beeping at 1:00am, telling me it was full. Also would be nice to have something to black out the light from the outside. Room was pretty light at night.

Inside the room you notice some updates to vanities, there was a roach inside my room , and there needs to be more attention to bedsheet and pillow case cleanliness. For the price I didn’t complain but cleanliness is a must

Rooms were moldy. Had to change rooms, and the other was equally moldy. People at the Tiki bar downstairs were not so friendly to us. Not worth it.

Our room had a damp smell to it that at times was overpowering. The bathroom fan didn’t seem to work or at least not well enough. Otherwise the room was clean & spacious. Parking was easy & you are near many places to eat.

The hotel was very nice. It was close to a lot of things like the beach was maybe 20 minutes away. Everything was about 15-20 minute drive. It was very close to the airport. The only thing is the incidental hold is $150. That’s the only thing I didn’t like is because the incidental charge was more than my room. Other than that it was great. I would stay there again.

The hotel was nice, but my room had a moldy smell to it. Other than that, it’s clean and has a nice pool.

I was really disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The building is very old and it clearly hasn’t been updated in a long time. There are no amenities at all, which makes it feel even more uncomfortable. The room smelled musty and damp as soon as I walked in, and it never went away. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless they do some serious renovations and improve their services.

Incredible place !

There were ants in the bathroom and the vanity area. The floor was wet from the humidity. The room had a musty smell. Bed sheets had someone’s hair on them when I went to go to bed. The hotel itself is run down looking. Definitely not like the pictures. Not the best crowd of people either. There was a young couple arguing in front of my room and the girl had track marks up and down her arms and legs and scabs on her face. I have no idea how this place has gotten the reviews it has, because this is not it.

The room was clean and comfortable for our two-night stay. However, one concern was the parking situation. The lot is very limited, especially since many guests bring boats and water equipment, which take up multiple spaces. If you arrive late at night, you’ll likely have a hard time finding parking.

The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable to stay in. The beds were neatly organized and cozy to sleep in. There was a lot of space to get ready for our nights out and perfect for the size of our group. The AC worked phenomenally well and was very convenient for a summer in Florida. The air purifier was a nice touch as well. The tiki bar was a cute outdoor experience worth a visit. Parking was free and plenty of space. The staff were super nice and helpful. Overall a great experience and we would definitely consider another stay in the area!

This property is a hidden gem. The rooms are updated, clean and so fresh. It’s quiet, and I got a good night sleep. Unfortunately, I couldn’t give a five stars because the mattresses were just so firm. It was very hard for me to get a great night sleep. But that was the only thing that was wrong with this beautiful place.

Last minute trip, place is clean and updated. It’s not a 5 star hotel but for the price I am definitely impressed. It also has a cute little tiki bar that is in front and adjacent to the pool.

I'm a travel nurse and love the Lantern! It is clean and the staff are so friendly and accommodating! I have recommended the Lantern to all my fellow travel nurse's.

Our room was clean and quiet, bed was comfortable. You can tell this is an older hotel but they are in the process of renovations. We didnt use the pool but it looked nice. We did have a drink at the tiki bar one night and it was lively and the bartender was very friendly. No complaints really. It worked out well for us while in town visiting family.

The receptionist at the desk is very nice I asked for a quiet room and she delivered it. There's a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. It's good to have this appliances in the room but the coffee maker wasn't working, but other than that it's all good.

Nice clean room, maids didn’t speak English but I didn’t mind. Parking lot was full of boats I’m assuming it’s because it was Memorial Day weekend.

Loud because it’s near airport, fire alarms went off while we were there for no reason. Power outage, no elevator. It was an ok stay.
