Reviews
The hotel is in the process of being updated, with staff receiving high praise for their friendliness and service. However, the property is frequently described as old, dirty, and in need of repair, with common complaints including mold, broken fixtures, and uncomfortable beds.

There are no more water views due to nearby construction. The staff were like annoying zombies. One person actually tried to intimidate me. No hot water . Practically empty. It’s a decent budget hotel. Don’t pay more than 70 bucks. I will never stay here again.

The staff was very friendly accommodating. It gave me a beautiful room clean for my birthday celebration. What I didn’t really like was the breakfast in the morning I think the poor girl was overwhelmed because when we got in there, everything was gone she was trying to fill things. I don’t think she could keep up.
- 3.5/5
Located in a quiet area, not far from the city center. It is a modern building with decent-sized rooms. It is a quiet place, suitable for a family vacation. The breakfast was decent, and the staff were friendly. Parking is available. They didn't clean under our bed, because a bottle cap was lying right next to it. The beds were too small for two adults, even though the room was booked for three adults.

I didn't like just 1 elevator for such a big hotel.
- 2/5
The night manager was not friendly at all. The room was not very clean and I found dead flies on the floor like it was just exterminated. The pool needed cleaning and the laundry room was dirty. The free breakfast was just ok. Parking was good. I will never stay at this hotel chain ever again.
- 4/5
Room needs some work. Floors definitely need to be cleaned. Day workers were great. Night guy needs some supervision.
- 1/5
Needs remodeling
- 3/5
Staff was indifferent, was on a personal phone call for 5 minutes before he acknolged I was standing at the counter in front of him. He put the phone down for a second asked me my name and proceeded to pick up his personal phone call while processing my check in. There was vomit in the ONLY elevator. Breakfast area was too small for the amount of people. Parking was easy.
- 4/5
Right on the good part/bad part of the area, but this hotel was clean and great location.
- 5/5
Everything was fine and functional.
- 5/5
Really satisfying experience
- 2/5
1. The room was ok, but I did see multiple cockroaches in the room 2. Water pressure in the shower was too low and the temperature was unpredictable. The shower was difficult to adjust for the temperature. 3. TV had weird bright and dark spots on the screen making it difficult to view programs 4. The room and the entire floor had a weird smell. The property feels pretty stuffy from inside. 5. The elevator didn't work one of the days Few of the positives: 1. Breakfast was included. It's pretty basic, but still having that included was a major convenience 2. I was visiting someone from Ringling College and the proximity of the property to the college was a plus 3. I took a red-eye flight and reached early in the morning (around 9:00). The property staff accommodated me for early check in. They prepared a room by 10:45 which was huge help for me after a long flight. 4. Plenty of free parking
- 4/5
Easy parking, room was clean, AC is a little noisy but cold, bathroom had a weird water leak coming from the floor/wall. Free continental breakfast was good. Room was next to the stairwell where the door was slamming shut loudly throughout the entire stay when someone would use it. Overall not bad. Would stay again for the price/value.
- 5/5
Parking was easy, John and his wife were amazing. I felt so welcomed, appreciated and like I belonged there. Any issue I had or had a question about was handled calmly and professionally. The breakfast was tasty, hot, and supervised in a southern charm type of way. Thank you. I will be looking at this location again in the future when I come to visit family in Sarasota.
- 3/5
One night stay, enjoyed the very clean pool, hotel room was clean, hallway smelled like urine in a few spots, but this area was probably for people with pets.... but would stay here again. Staff very friendly.
- 4/5
Staff were amazing. However, housekeeping services could have been a lot better.
- 3/5
Good parking, decent rooms no housekeeping for my room

The girl at front was nice . But the rooms smell was horrible. The carpet smell was bad . For 200 dollars you will think it was a good place but nop . You can hear the people next to you like if they were in your rooms l stayed there for 5 minutes l have to leave l couldn’t breathe. The smell was just terrible. The parking lot full of junk. Also .
- 4/5
Staff was very nice! Our room was good. If you are looking for a nice pool area, I would say it was just okay.
- 3/5
Hotel was full, so I understand, but the toilet would not flush. Was not comped one day for the toilet, literally had the plunger in my bathroom, to no avail. would have been nice to be comped at least one day?
- 2/5
Dirty & rusty & poor response to problems reported in room.
- 4/5
The complimentary breakfast was nice, but it was exactly the same every day. For example, to vary the breakfast sausage with bacon would be appreciated. For those of us staying several days, we need variety. Also there was no wastebasket in the bedroom. There was one in the bathroom, but the main room should have had one too. There was a recycling basket in the main part, yes, but no waste basket where we needed one most. Other than these complaints, the La Quinta Inn was conveniently located and felt safe and quiet. Rooms on the highway side may be prone to traffic noise, however. We were on the quiet side of the building and it was peaceful.
- 4/5
Two complaints, lamps in room had a rusty base and parking lot needs the pot holes filled
- 3/5
Nice enough for short stay. Room clean. Dated facility.
- 5/5
Yes it was really clean and safe and the staff was amazing I’m going to be back for sure my next time .it was nice and easy to get everywhere thank you!!
- 5/5
clean, welcoming stuff- recommend it!
- 4/5
Parking was convenient and safe.
- 3/5
Water was horrible. Smelled and tasted awful. Requested a one hour late checkout and no staff member could approve it
- 5/5
The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable.
- 4/5
Staff, John and Sherry, were exceptional. All cleaning staff and dining area were very pleasant and helpful.
- 3/5
The stay was disappointing. There was no free breakfast, the room was very small, and there were way too few power outlets to charge my phone. Overall, it was not a very satisfying experience for the price.
- 1/5
It was a horrible experience, the furniture had stains. The bed mattress had collapses where people have been laying it for numerous times. It only took about five minutes. We were back downstairs checking out. Would love to send you photos.
- 5/5
Room was clean
- 5/5
Excelente atencion y buen lugar
- 5/5
Clean rooms. Decent breakfast. Constant coffee and friendly staff
- 3/5
Good location and price. We walked to downtown. Older place which could use some renovations. The elevator didnt work while we were there. Overall, it was what we expected for the price, compared to the price of other hotels available in the area.
- 1/5
The elevator was out of service…. apparently the site is under restoration. I was notified of elevator issues ON THE OF ARRIVAL . It would have been great to know earlier so we could have sought accommodations elsewhere. Also to add insul….our room was on THE THIRD FLOOR. Extremely disappointed with this site
- 1/5
No elevator and there was no warning when booking and no compensation upon arrival.
- 5/5
Yes very nice
- 2/5
Front desk staff very nice, but the property is dirty, outdated. The room smelled funny, the floor filthy, and the bathroom repulsive. Painting over mold on the walls in the bathroom does not get rid of the problem.
- 2/5
Foul Smell Had to Switch rooms, better smelling room but Carpets Unsanitary! Staff at Desk Helpful.
- 2/5
Way below the expectations associated with the Wyndham brand. Food was terrible. Room was way neglected. Service was lacking. The grounds where in shambles. Would never return.
- 5/5
Alright
- 3/5
Musty smell, roaches and dirty.
- 5/5
Nice place! Everything was great!!!❤👍
- 4/5
Nice staff, had everything we needed
- 5/5
We were only here for 1 night and unfortunately didn't have time to check out the nearby shops or hotel gym. However, we will be back Lord willing and will hopefully be and go enjoy more of the hotel amenities at that time.
- 2/5
We were shocked at the condition of the hotel. It appeared not to have been renovated in decades. The exterior and interior in no way resembled the photos displayed on hotels.com. "False advertising" is an apropos rating for this property. We were on a bereavement trip, with no idea how long we would need to be in Sarasota, so we had booked the room for a week. Not being able to tolerate more than one night there, we checked out the next morning. We will be requesting a substantial refund.
- 3/5
Had been nice hotel. At this point pretty dated. Carpet in our room was dirty but rest of room clean. Staff friendly. Would stay again
- 4/5
Clean room and friendly staff and price
- 3/5
Also, I noticed that access to the elevators doesn’t seem to be limited, and it appears that anyone can enter. If these are meant to be exclusive to hotel guests or members, perhaps some additional security or clearer restrictions could be put in place. Thank you for your attention to this.
- 2/5
Suite only had a love seat and tv in the living area.
- 5/5
This hotel is a good value considering its location on the edge of downtown. It’s a little older but well maintained with a pool, a friendly staff and a solid complimentary breakfast.
- 4/5
The room was clean. But, the furniture was outdated and worn out. It could do with freshening and new furniture. It was a good place to stay. But would be even better if the rooms were updated.
- 3/5
Ac unit leaked water into the room. So carpet was wetby the unit.we worked around it. We were there for 3 nights. Morning breakfast was ok. One annoyance. Both milk dispensers were broken. When bought to their attention, they just swapped it for another broke dispenser.
- 4/5
Convenient to where we needed to go . Ease of checking in and out. Descent 3 star property with breakfast included. Nice enough bathroom amenities, clean.
- 3/5
Very poor and quality breakfast, place not ready for a crowd morning, not food available
- 3/5
Stayed here because it was cheap and a good location. The first room I got faced the main road and was much too loud. I had to pay extra for a room on the rear. They have really old noisy air conditioning units that I had to turn off to sleep. Clean but very shabby. Staff were nice and friendly.
- 3/5
That’s is basically the unpleasant moment of my stay the rest was ok at least seems clean
- 3/5
This was our third stay at this hotel. This time was the worst and the last time. The room was ok but definitely could use a better cleaning and upgrade. Things like rusty lamps and stained sinks could easily be replaced. The night time front desk clerk, Fernando, was the worst. Rude. Unaccommodating. I came to the desk to request a set of sheets and a towel. He was sitting in the back room where I could see him on his phone. When I made my request, he sat in his chair and stared at me and then finally got up to help but acted as if he was being put out. So rude.
- 4/5
Great
- 5/5
I had other responsibilities so I was not able to take advantage of the workout room or pool, but the light breakfast buffet was perfect for my needs. Thank you all.
- 5/5
It was amazing, I will stay again
- 2/5
Rooms need to be cleaned properly- Musty odor and AC noises in and out all through the night.
- 3/5
Staff is friendly, complimentary breakfast was good. Rooms had holes in walls, mildew in walls a d ceiling, broken outlets.
- 4/5
.
- 3/5
This hotel is old, you can smell the humidity, but the worst part was the weed smell on the whole floor. Also, there is a 100 dollar deposit that was never advertised during the booking process. Overall I just stayed one night, but it wouldn’t be my first choice if I’m going to Sarasota again
- 4/5
Good place to spend a night
- 1/5
Don’t go there! Nasty by all means! The health department should shut it down! The room smelled, Had bugs. Employees were very unfriendly. Additional charge for $100 on my credit card without any reason. I have to dispute it. Pool is dirt, breakfast is a joke. Reporting to DHEC and Wyndham Home offfice.
- 1/5
Roach inside mini fridge
- 4/5
Good Stay. exactly what we needed. Room was clean, building was just a bit old. Staff very friendly
- 4/5
Room was ok. Bathroom was a bit lack luster. Desk attendant had no personality and felt like we were an inconvenience to her. Interrupted her phone time.
- 2/5
property was older and not well kept up, no hot water in one of three rooms we booked.
- 3/5
Expedia charged about $40 more than the property would have charged me but reception could do nothing b/c Expedia had the booking. so y did I book thru Expedia?
- 3/5
Good location
- 1/5
The rest of the stay only reinforced how poorly this property is managed. The carpets were filthy, the air smelled of mildew, and the room I was eventually assigned had stained linens and visible signs of neglect. It was clear no one here takes pride in the condition of the hotel. Worse still was the behavior of the staff—apathetic, dismissive, and in one case, outright rude. Requests for assistance were treated as interruptions, and there was a clear lack of basic courtesy or training. This hotel is in deplorable condition, and the management appears either unaware or uninterested. I would never recommend this property to anyone, and I suggest corporate leadership investigate before more guests are put through similar experiences—or worse.
- 5/5
The staff
- 5/5
Good place to stay, good and calm area.
- 2/5
no thanks
- 2/5
Hotel is run down, and needs maintenance. Does not look like the photos. Many holes patched in the room. Bathroom was outdated and gross. Seems like they like caulk everything. Also looked like they have people living here full time.
- 5/5
Dog friendly hotel with designated areas for dog walking with stations. We drove about 3 mins down the road and saw the best sunset.
- 1/5
This property should close and get renovated the carpet smell room smell bathroom not very clean the have roaches crawling around overall if I could get my money back I will very happy. My impression of the Quinta was different is not like used to be. Definitely they need to do something about it before they keep renting out. Not happy at all.
- 1/5
they said no gov taxes charged but my credit card statement says otherwise. what i was giveb in my printout receipt is different than what i saw on my credit card statement.
- 2/5
Felt run down, not up to date
- 3/5
Could use a major update but it’s a good price for being so close to downtown Sarasota.
- 2/5
The maids stole my wife's medication. How evil and desperate can they be to steal medication? Out of someone's bag? That was put all the way up on the closet shelf so they never even needed to touch it. They try to charge $100 in case someone messes something up, but their staff will physically steal your stuff. Horrible.
- 5/5
Good
- 3/5
Rooms is old , carpet is not clean
- 1/5
When checking out I got 25 dollar back after all my complaints,
- 5/5
Buen trato
- 3/5
Room was adequate but small flatscreen, wall thermostant cracked and broken and generally seemed like an older renovation had taken place. Bed was comfortable as were pillows. Generally not a value.
- 5/5
Good location
- 3/5
The stay was alright but they are renovating which has it's problems, like an out of service elevator (you can get a little exercise if on the 4th floor like I was). The bathtub wasn't too nice either, good thing I had my flip flops
- 2/5
The front desk was frequently left unattended making it difficult to request assistance or address issues. The elevator was out of order the entire time. We are senior citizens and had to lug our bags up the stairs. No offers were made to assist us with portage. The housekeeping was haphazard at best and the area smelled of cannabis. The room was shabby and needs refurbishing. The breakfast buffet had little selection and the bananas were actually brown and mushy. It was disappointing to say the least.
- 1/5
I would not recommend staying there
- 4/5
The staff was amazing! The property itself left a bit to be desired. The elevator was not working. The room itself smelled like cat pee. The stairwell was pretty dirty and smelly.
- 1/5
Carpet was dirty. Socks and feet were soiled didn't get handicap room that we requsted because as we found out elevator hasn't been working for a month. Doors and locks didnt work properly.
- 1/5
Run down place. do not stay.
- 2/5
Good location and staff very nice but facility is run down, elevator broken, hair dyer broken and had to carry suitcases up narrow dark stairwells.
- 1/5
Wyndham should be utterly embarrassed by this facility. Perhaps that is why there is no sign on the street. Negative stars if I could give them. Expedia also said the hotel charge was unrefundable... even when what we booked wasn't available. Never EVER book a hotel through Expedia. EVER!!!! Always go direct. The middleman isn't really interested in your trip, just your money.
- 3/5
Was, ok.
- 2/5
Second, the heater was noisy and air quality was stagnant. Third, carpet was very old and needed to be replaced throughout the hotel. Fourth, during Check-In, the hotel computer system was very slow resulting in a long time to get our room key. Fifth, the internet service was very slow. Would not stay in this hotel again.
- 1/5
It smelled horrible and damp when we walked in, the elevators did not work, and reviews have stated repeated issues with bugs and roaches. We didn’t even stay there and found other accommodations.
- 3/5
area seemed a bit sketchy
- 1/5
Under significant repair - musty smelling rooms - expect it took significant damage during the Hurricane
- 2/5
Expedia NEEDS to update their photos of hotels online. This is the second hotel on my trip that I stayed at that was nothing like what was posted online. Pics online must've been from when it was brand new. The hotel was under renovations (would've been nice to know!), but it didn't seem to be improving it very much. The place was dirty and noisy. Had trouble closing the door to our room due to it being crocked. The mattress to the bed was worn out and uncomfortable. Expedia needs to check these places out more and have current expectations of these properties for customers.
- 1/5
Incident 1 - an individual was arrested outside premises. Incident 2 - desk agent telling off a patron for their friend banging on their door at 2am and mentioning their tires were slashed. Smell of cigarette smoke permeated the lobby. Ongoing renovations made the space particularly ugly.
- 4/5
Floor on the corner outside the bath tub was dirty and had a dead insect.
- 3/5
Not the best looks like they are renovating but all the people screaming in the hallways and acting foolish added to the bad experience.
- 3/5
general up dating. older furniture, carpeting. Need refrigerators
- 2/5
People make too much noise
- 1/5
Ants and cockroaches in room.
- 3/5
Decent hotel but not spectacular.
- 2/5
Staff was indescribably unfriendly and unwilling to help.
- 1/5
Honestly, there are hotels that charge by the hour that are cleaner.
- 5/5
I love this place, my home away from home
- 1/5
Worst stay ever!! The room was full of German cockroaches and they wouldn't move me or cancel the reservation. I had to sleep with the lights on for 4 nights. Room smelled of water and mold. Locals over ran the place with parties. I'll never use Expedia again for booking a hotel. Absolutely horrible!!!
- 1/5
Elevator broken. TV didnt work. Nobody woul help.
- 2/5
We came here because we were displaced from hurricane Milton . We picked this hotel because it was pet friendly. The room smelled like dogs the bathroom was not that clean the toilet paper holder wasn’t attached and was just moving around. The place was just old and dirty. John at the front desk was pleasant. I’m sure at one time the hotel was nice but now it needs to be redone. We didn’t stay the whole three days so I asked for a refund for the last day and they would not honor it. What sucks we paid 175 a day for a hotel and would have appreciated the money back as we are putting out so much money not being able to go home. Oh the breakfast consisted of sausage, bread, bagels apples . No cream cheese no butter . I really don’t recommend this hotel.
- 2/5
I booked the hotel 2 months in advance and said that I was coming with my mother, who is disabled and needs special accommodation. We were offered a room on the third floor, but the elevator was out of order because of the hurricane. The room on the first floor was terrible: dirty and smelly. So we lived on the third floor all the time, but my mother couldn’t leave the room because she had to go up and down the stairs every time. We asked to be moved to at least the 2nd floor, but we couldn’t get it. The mattresses were very old and dirty. I wouldn’t recommend staying there. It’s also not cheap.
- 2/5
Staff are nice but we find a lot of issues as elevators broken, keys didn’t work, noisy and duty on the hallways. Is ok but I will not get back.
- 3/5
It is a good value for the price. The most annoying thing, however, was at the elevator was out during my entire stay with no sign of it being fixed. Overall, I would rate the hotel average. It is definitely good for a short stay, and it is in a very good location.
- 1/5
Unfortunately, there were issues from the moment we arrived. The elevator was not working; the bathroom floor was covered in water due to a toilet leak; there was stray pubic hair under the toilet seat; the air conditioning unit was leaking right into the carpet; and the sofa was heavily soiled on the arms and back (picture included), so we avoided sitting on it at all. The staff on-site at check-in tried to help, but with no other available rooms, and with maintenance not available, we just had to tough it out.
- 1/5
This was the worst hotel we ever stayed in. The elevator had been out of service for weeks, plugs in room didn’t work well, the couch was torn up and frayed, wallpaper in halls was falling off, the breakfast was horrible. We made a huge mistake by staying there
- 2/5
The elevator was broken for the three nights that I was therez
- 1/5
I was on 4 floor it was terribble stay Lady on front desk and lady manager was so unfriendly
- 3/5
Room was in “OK” condition hotel was not, needs lots of TLC. Staff was “friendly” but definitely were under staffed. Breakfast was ok.
- 2/5
This time around the elevator wasn’t working during the entire weekend (it wasn’t fixed at all) the hallways were a mess, and the rooms were worse! The staff was friendly and did the best they could to accommodate us. But again, the hotel definitely needs lots of work… you would think it will be in better shape!
- 2/5
Nothing like any other La Quinta I have ever stayed in. Wallpaper coming off the walls. 2 exits leading to outside closed off for use. Dogs barking across the hall from my room. Coffee in breakfast area cold. Was scheduled for 4 nights but stayed one then got the hell outta this place but was still charged 4 nights pet deposit. As I was loading up my car I noticed a pretty rough looking guy digging thru the dumpster. Very subpar area and room.
- 1/5
We can not take ice from ice machine, elevator did not work for four days, management is terrible, lady on front desk very unfriendly
- 4/5
It was ok but the bed was terrible very hard, my body were hacking
- 1/5
Very unprofessional staff, rooms are not even that good. Stayed there for 3 nights and no room service. No one came to cleaned and change sheets. We asked for new towels and one staff said she can’t give us towels. Oh and it’s smelly, very smelly. This place does not even deserve one star, it deserves zero
- 5/5
ice maker wasn't working, toaster wasn't working, love seat fabric at the room Loock bided by a dog.
- 3/5
Staff were friendly. Convenient location close to Ringling College and the beaches on the main road. Breakfast can be much better.
- 5/5
This has been one of the best hotels ive stayed at since ive started traveling. The lobby was beautiful, rooms were clean and large and the bathrooms were clean and upkept. We had fresh soap and towels every day and were always greeted by staff with a smile. On top of the amazing room and staff, the breakfast that was included was amazing, the waffles really took the cake, if ever in the area again, ill be booking Wyndham.
- 1/5
ROACHES IN MY ROOM! We were there for less than 10 hours. It was a last minute stay since we didn’t want to drive home after the beach. The only good thing was the older gentleman that checked us in. Roaches construction noises and garbage everywhere, NOT CLEAN AT ALL. It was a terrible experience.
- 4/5
Property was remodeling some areas, and the rooms looks old
- 5/5
It's a little jewel minutes away from anywhere in Sarasota. Comfortable stay, clean rooms, great room service, and a healthy/hefty breakfast. Their delightful home-away-from-home service is the key to their success. It starts with their friendly manager and extends to his courteous staff. We will visit again!
- 5/5
Awesome Service
- 1/5
Air conditioning did not work in the room. They couldn’t give me another room because they barely were remodeling the 3 rd floor.
- 5/5
Loved the location and loved the room.
- 5/5
The staff was lovely. Felt very comfortable!!!
- 4/5

- 2/5

- 3/5
