Best Western Santee Lodge

Managed to get an accessibility room after some discussion. Evidently you can only reserve them if you phone in and not by registering online. Also right outside the accessible room was the only ice machine for the whole facility and it is not secured at night. People were filling large coolers at all times during the night. Most did not actually stay at the lodge.

Parking was good. Breakfast underwhelmed. Toast, tiny muffins, cereal, eggs weren't good, sausage wasnt very good. There was batter mix for waffles but we just walked to the donut shop right next door.

It was convenient to where I needed to go I will never stay again one of the worst best western I have ever stayed in The manager accused me of smoking marijuana I opened my door to let them in just to prove it I had children in my room and I don’t smoke every night, I had to go to the office to get my key reactivated cause it wouldn’t open my door the floors were lifting in the room, and one of the beds was broken on the way to the bathroom is there’s this little metal piece . I almost cut my foot on it

I stay at BW everytime I visit relatives in the area. Each time, I see improvements. The staff have always been courteous and helpful. I think it is a good value. I'll continue to go there.

The breakfast was better than most similar options. They had hot food (scrambled eggs, cheesy omelet, sausage links or patties. If not for anything else, the breakfast and per friendliness are considerable factors to choose this spot.

Need to replace some lamps that have actual plugs instead of the usb stuff. Need to put some towel racks in the bathroom.

The property was decent. Pool appeared clean. There was coin laundry for guests. Unfortunately the room was dirty- sheets with stains and towels appeared dirty as well. The faucet to the tub shot off the wall during my shower due to being improperly installed thereby leaving the shower unusable. Issues brought up to management and no maintenance available and no alternative room available for the night. Overall, cannot recommend this property at this time.

I have stayed here many times and it's definitely one of my favorite places to stay. However, I booked a room online on this day. March 11th, through the 12th. And on my end it said booking was confirmed gave me a confirmation number and a pin number and told me to show it to the front desk It stated that it was not just the reservation but that the booking was confirmed. The room had numerous issues Broken tissue dispenser, light switch that didn’t work, faulty shower, etc. But the biggest issue was the rudeness of the manager on duty in the morning. He turned a minor issue into a screaming match for no reason, and his anger was completely out of place. I would never take the risk of staying there again. The eggs at breakfast are also horrible …

The location I didn’t appreciate not being able to use the restroom during check-in the man was rude and I was checking in the handicap room had no shower curtain on the shower the bathroom flooded the water puddled up the sink leans to the right and puddles under it It’s an accident waiting to happen the flooring had no slip prevention and the soap holder was to high to reach from shower chair and not big enough to hold any items except the little soap bar provided

Nothing Everything. The shower did not work. High pricing for the "quality" of this place. Dirty inside and out. Bed linens were stained. Room hadn't been cleaned thoroughly. Room smelled. Shower did not work. Front desk person was perturbed at me for not calling him to fix the shower. When I asked for a price break I was told that a manager was coming in at 9am and I could call him. When I asked who the owner was he said "I don't know". The breakfast area was filthy. Avoid this place.

While linens were presented as clean and looked and felt as such, they are stained-rust, dirt, oil. Some lifetime maintenance was needed. Grout in the bath area missing. Bathtub pipe was loose in the wall. Poor caulking around tub. In general this is a nice older facility. Staff was impeccable, always with a quick courteous acknowledgement and helpful. Breakfast area was always clean (as is with most all the property) with food well stocked, fresh and hot.

The room was an older remodel but clean and comfortable. No complaints about the room, I was expecting clean and not the ritz. The room key de-activated 3 of the 5 days I stayed there this trip and I do not know why. I have stayed here 4 times, I keep coming back so it must be good.

While there (5 nights) 4 nights in a row it sounded like the room next door was doing remodeling. Loud bang noises, thumps, crashes. Multiple hours into the early morning (2-3 am). Staff was friendly. Breakfast was normal hotel breakfast and available right on time.

The stay at the property was fine. Staff was attentive and very professional. The handicapped parking is a little odd with steep inclines so I did not park there.

We also wanted to use the bathroom and it was locked and the gentleman said it was only open during breakfast time... other than that everything was great

My room was near the ice machine. People were using it late at night (2AM) and early in the morning (5AM). Woke me up every time.

The room was clean but one of the queen beds was in poor condition. The outlet to charge my phone was broken. There were several young men outside yelling and screaming until almost midnight, which kept me awake and I'm sure everyone else with no staff to enforce the rules if there were any. The second night was more quiet .

The hot tub was great and it was nice and hot, however, the pool and hot tub area are only open until 8pm. I understand that you get what you pay for but y'all are charging too much for this one. The whole place needs updated, it's kind of falling apart, and the beds are terrible. I guess i know better now 😕.

My family and I traveled with our pets. The facility was very pet friendly. We were greeted by a friendly host upon arrival. Our room was clean and beds were comfortable. Breakfast served was nice, hot, and fresh daily. Plenty of places to eat near by. Gas station and freeways within close proximities. This was a very convenient location. I would definitely stay here again.

This was a last-minute booking for us, as the hotel is one of two close to our daughter's home and the original accommodations for our visit fell through. What a great find! The room was quite satisfactory, clean, well- maintained, convenient, and reasonably priced (considering the cost of hotels in the San Diego area). Staff were helpful, pleasant, and patient. We would stay again by choice should the opportunity arise.

However, the property was a bit run down. The pillows and bedding had stains on them. The room smelled like steamed broccoli. We found two nickel sized live spiders in our room and a bat was outside the laundry room for 2 nights.

Quite and peaceful environment and a very safe place to stay.

My main concern was that I spent almost two hours fighting with the internet and at the end I was forced to use my cellular service in order to allow me to watch a movie. When speaking to the front desk, I was told the internet worked fine for him and that I should not have an issue. He said he would reset the internet but it is questionable if he did because it did not work after. My time was cut short having to deal with this issue which made it seem kinda like a waste of my hard earned money which I had spent hoping for some time to relax.

Stayed Monday-friday morning honestly a good experience i seen people complain about this place and only spent 1-2 days there a whole week at this place felt like home and i didn’t even wanna leave nice shopping center with a target about 5-8 minutes away depending on traffic and good food areas not to far away as well, will definitely be back

There were a ton of gnats in the room.

It was absolutely horrible. They didn’t let me check into my room. Hotels.com couldn’t see the reservation and Best Western literally denied me access to the room I paid for. Had to sleep in my car outside the hotel with no blankets or pillows. Very unhappy with both Hotels.com and Best Western for either parties taking responsibility for this.

Beds dirty bathroom was dirty floor was damage. Toilet, wasn’t sitting on the stall properly.

WIFI wasn't working, which unfortunately was important for who I was booking this stay for. I'll be staying away from this location for my employees until proven differently...

The room had two queen mattress and the springs were shot on the sides, you had to sleep in the middle. Traffic noise. Staff and service were good. Continental breakfast was good, but surprised there was no cereal.

This is the 3rd year I have stayed here since moving out of CA and only going back for visits. It's decent enough. Not outstanding and if you like a lot of luxury probably not for you but I find it to be OK to stay. Clean and comfortable

Clean quiet room. Cleaning product smell had to be aired out before we could close the door. Tub was slippery, maybe due to cleaning products on the floor or carpet, but otherwise was comfortable.

Motel was clean but if you’re expecting a warm/hot shower this isn’t the place to stay. The shower setup is terrible at best.

It was an amazing stay! The staff was so nice and made us feel so welcomed and at home. It was nice and clean, no bugs!! Breakfasts was amazing, the bed was comfortable and the hot tub was perfect! They also accommodated me with a downstairs hotel room l because of my disabilities. I was extremely grateful for that. was in a perfect area 711 two doors down it was perfect.! Thank you for the wonderful experience and hospitality! We will definitely be staying there again.

Stayed here over the past 6 years. Everything was good except, rm 112 needs weather stripping seal under the door. Bugs, and outside air, light come through it. Breakfast, change up the sausages to also bacon, and different eggs or meats. Stayed 4 days straight and nice to have variety.

Did not have a good experience since the plumbing was not working. I had to call the operator to send someone to turn on the shower for us therefore we could not take a shower when we wanted. Yeah

As walking in the room has a bad smell it to. Smelled like a mixture of cigarettes and dust. The shower has long black hair on the walls so shower must have never been cleaned. The sheets had stains on them and the bed had more of a sheet than a comforter. If you get cold bring an extra blanket.

Best Weatern was within walking distance of several restaurants and coffee shops. They had a nice pool area, room was clean and area quiet and safe

The little hotel that couldn’t our first room, the heater would not work, so they moved us to a different room, and when I went to flush the toilet, the flusher handle fell off we could hear the TV and the conversation in the next room, most of the night the room was clean And the lady at the front desk was very friendly

This was our second year staying at this hotel. We come for Comic-Con and it's close distance to the end of the green line. Breakfast is alwats good, staff are nice, and its a quiet location. We will definitely be back again next year.

These rooms were booked for our employees who were working out of town. The service that Patty in the front desk was amazing. She was incredibly helpful and made them feel right at home. Great personality and amazing customer service.

However after spending some time in this room it smelled old and musty the room looked nothing like with the online picture showed this room is very old bedding towel so thin you could almost see through them and cockroaches

Let's just say that the global Microsoft outage on Friday July 19th stranded me in Houston until Sunday July 21st. I used the Expedia app to get the number to the hotel and called saying I was stranded and would be late and most likely Saturday. I checked Expedia's app and they stated that I could not cancel booking and would not be refunded. I contacted Expedia through the app and explained my situation. It took multiple hours and at least one of my reservations was cancelled with refund(thank you Alamo Rental cars) When we started to work on the hotel, the Expedia rep explained that the hotel had no management on site and to check back on Monday or 72 hours from our time on the app(Saturday afternoon after my 4th flight was cancelled) I was disconnected and could not get back through to Expedia. United never sent me any information on a flight to San Diego and I eventually booked a flight back to my home. This place refuses to refund me even the situation was completely out of my control. Expedia will not help at all and United told Expedia the rescheduled me with Delta airlines. I never received a phone call or reschedule through the United App or Expedia. Still have not received anything. Needless to say this place will never receive my business again and I would never stay at a Best Western. Unbelievable how the take advantage of a traveler stuck because of wonderfull Microsoft, United and a complete shutdown of air travel. Horrible policy and Expedia is a complete waste

Was amazing

Good location, a nice clean place that is far enough from San Diego to be affordable, but not too far away. One major misgiving: avoids rooms 103, 105 ,107 and the rooms directly above those due to a nloisy ice machine. It makes constant noise day and night, and worse whe nfolks get ice (who needs ice a 4am?).

Very nice staff at check in and in the evening when we needed more coffee packs. The building is a older but rooms were clean and sp was the property. The only drawback is it can be noisy at certain times during the day.

We arrived very late Thursday night due to a house plumbing problem and wanted someplace close to our home. I had booked online ahead of time, but our reservation showed for the next day for some reason. Mo, the front office clerk, took the time to call Expedia for us. After some time on the phone, at least 30 minutes or more, he was able to work with them to change our reservation for the same day. We really appreciate Mo's hospitality and willingness to help us. He provided excellent customer service! Room was very clean and we liked that it had no carpeting, all linoleum. Will definitely stay again if needed! Breakfast included a cheese omelet, fruit & pastries, coffee.

Even though I arrived in the early hours of the morning, I was greeted by a friendly and efficient staff person. They checked me in quickly and gave me clear directions to my room. The best part of his advice was telling me about the donut shop very close to the hotel. I was able to get something to eat that late at night. So good.

We have been here before and liked it so that we decided to stay again and will the next time we are in town. My son is allergic to cats and I think maybe there was one in his room prior and he had a bit of an issue breathing in his room so we switched rooms and Everything was excellent after that. The people were very friendly 😁

I stayed here last year too at this same time and it seems I had a newly remodeled room last year. This year the room was good enough; I would stay again but that is because there are limited options in Santee. Last year I did not smell as much dope as I did this year. The smell of marijuana was very off putting. Those people smoking dope keep in mind are also driving vehicles so that had me concerned. I moved out of CA 3 years ago for a myriad of reasons one being the constant and continuous smell of dope. Blah blah medical marijuana, then don't drive and stay home. There was a white Prius in the parking lot that I reported because it was fully to the brim with possessions and the people in it never seemed to get out of it and the smell of dope was wafting out of it. Overall, I had a good stay because all I needed was a place to sleep and for that it worked out well. The staff were very nice and very helpful and accommodating and that is always a bonus with me. Thank you BW for the good staff.

This property is unrecognized by my Garmin GPS. Makes it very hard to find. Small sign. Website stated free breakfast. Nope.. no free breakfast. I thought it was over priced for what it is. Parking is kinda tight.
