We had to catch an early flight the next morning and hung out with friends on our last night in California so our stay was very short but it was very pleasant. The bed was super comfortable. The room was clean, the place was quiet and very close to all Santa Monica has to offer. Would definitely stay here again!

The person checking us in and the other person checking us out had zero personality. Not very welcoming or friendly at all. The room had no luggage racks so our luggage had to be on the floor, which was extremely inconvenient. There were no glasses or cups to have water. There was no microwave to heat anything up, but there was a mini fridge. They could invest in a few more amenities to make the room more comfortable. I felt like charging for parking was a little ridiculous especially when you're staying at the hotel.

Fabulous location - handy to the beach and Santa Monica Pier - handy to restaurants. Staff where great - very helpful and accommodating. Unfortunately the photos made the hotel look a lot better than it was. Totally appreciate that this is an older, historic building. Although clean the room itself was a little run down. There were five of us and one bathroom which we knew when we booked it, however the sink was stand alone and didn't have a vanity attached to it, so nowhere to put our toilet bags. The toilet was also in the bathroom, making this very small area impossible to use efficiently. The shower water was only luke warm. There were two double beds - one behind a curtain in the living area. The second bedroom - the curtains were in poor condition and we couldn't open the curtains because there was a construction site looking straight in the window. The 5th bed was in the lounge and there wasn't any comfortable seating or a couch that we could sit on if we wanted to watch the TV.

I had a great few days here with very friendly staff, good parking (paid) out front and a comfy bed. My only comment would be that there’s no coffee in the room - had to get dressed and go to reception for my morning fix 😂 and the pillows could be better. Otherwise an excellent place to stay near the beach and town centre.

You have to pay an additional $38.00 to park in the parking lot of the motel. There was sand all over the sheets. Not worth the price at all. Will not stay there again. We were woke up at midnight to the guests next to us yelling, knocking on doors and banging on the wall.

The washroom could use some updated features, like who puts regular shutter curtains in a shower on the window. Also, if you have a car make sure you call a head to reserve a spot. And you might be lucky even if you reserve one and pay for it to get one. Parking is very tight, don’t bring an oversized vehicle. Overall, it was a place to rest my head and that is all.

I would never stay here again. For the price you pay you at least expect it to have a coffee machine in the room or breakfast included… how wrong was I! The only drinks available were the ones in reception which were priced ridiculously high! Prior to the stay I was never informed of having to “reserve parking” apparently I was lucky that one space remained and I had to pay $33 dollars on top of the money for the room for 24 hours worth of parking! The rooms are dated, floor were dirty, rooms do not feel secure and you can hear everything your neighbours are doing! My son also fell in the bath when showering and bust his chin and lip what kind of hotel doesn’t have an anti-slip mat in a bath?! Not to mention there is no central heating so be prepared to be absolutely freezing at night time. If you have kids just avoid it all costs

The pictures are misleading. The alley is not as nice looking as this. Sea Blue hotel is just in the forefront of this picture and in the back are many more buildings and a steep staircase before reaching the beach. Everything about this hotel is meant to mislead. There are very few parking spots and the daily rate is higher than advertized at the registration counter. A note in the room pretends that it is the famous hotel California but when I asked the staff at the front desk, he was very uncomfortable trying to explain how it was a hotel in California but not the one from the song. There are no amenities. The decor is cute, but the room was oddly and not conveniently set up. The bathroom was clean but the design ancient and the shower very small.

Close to the beach, pier, shopping and dining. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. More of the surfing vibe with tile floors but absolutely loved it. I have no complaints. I believe that the site should state limited paid parking that has to be reserved. I was lucky enough that you had one parking space left when I arrived and never moved my car because we were only there for 2 nights.

We were a very short walk away from the beach and that is he main reason that we stayed at this location. Everyone loved the room because it was so close to the beach and boardwalk. It was a little noisy hearing kids run in rooms above us but wasn't to bad. We did not like the 18% tax on parking spot and needing to reserve a ADA parking spot but had we not, I could not have made it up the hills around or walked the distance to the room.

If you don’t get there early, the property does not have sufficient parking and will make you park at a near by parking garage. The Upstairs room was very warm and noisy window AC was in the toilet room. Shower and tub had no privacy- you can see from the squeaky bed. But cute small room.

The location was very close to the water, an easy 5 minute walk. However, parking was very difficult to find, and you have to pay everywhere, it is not included with your room. The room itself was clean and smelled fresh when we arrived, and there were no unpleasant odors even after staying for three days. The shower and bathroom were quite small and a bit outdated, but overall, I don’t have any major complaints about the room. The main downside was the price point, it felt a bit high considering there’s no onsite parking and the rooms are somewhat outdated. There was also construction going on during our stay. It wasn’t disruptive, but it would have been nice to know about it prior to our arrival.

I'll start with the positive. Location great. Layout of room inside as pictured. Staff friendly. Older building charmingly updated inside. Bathroom very old, dirty (grout lines in shower & on floor dirty & chipping, floor gouged up, shower doesnt ddrain properly while showering/water fills up in tub) no counter space, no fan/vent so got steamed up immediately with showering...window to bathroom looked out to construction war zone with constant workers walking in front of it, as well as back bedroom window. What was supposed to be a back terrace to walk out to was a constant presence of construction workers, often starting drilling at 7am. A constant presence throughout the day of noise & workers immediately on the other side of bedroom door leading out to what was supposed to be the back terrance & instead construction zone. No heat or air units. Just ceiling fans & plug in electric heaters. Blew the fuse once when attempted to use, & one wall the outlets didnt work at all. No coffee maker in room. Had to go to main office every morning for coffee, usually in the rain. We were 1st floor & no soundproofing at all. A ton of noise from upstairs occupants & whenever anyone used the stairs. Workers kept a bright light on all night in the construction zone outside our bedroom & bathroom window. The floor was freezing. Typically heat may not be required, but the weather was 50's & rain the entirety of our stay. No warning on construction taking place. No phone in room to call desk.

Save yourself the money, time and headache and do not stay here . The lady checking us in upon our arrival was the only best interaction we received during this entire stay. The room is not at all as described. There is no central heating or air condition. It is California however, when the sun goes down, it is freezing. The bathroom is disgusting and the shower is even worse. It was so dirty. There are no microwaves or coffee machines in the unit. You have to go down to the office to get such accommodations. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. It says it is “family and pet friendly”, however, it is absolutely not.The parking is way overpriced and terrible. The customer service was the absolute worst that I’ve ever experienced in my entire lifetime. Every interaction with every employee was horrible. We ended up leaving and extending our stay with another hotel further down, it was not until then things turned around for our vacation. The other hotel was super accommodating, way more comfortable and friendly, not to mention way cheaper.

This was by far my worst hotel experience I have ever had in my 38 years of world traveling. Check in and location were all great. Electrical hazards, no heat, no hot water the first night and still cold after that, no water pressure, circuit breakers constantly popped ever 2-3 from the tiny box heater they supplied even when it was on low heat for a large 2 bedroom suite. Total scam and safety risk. If my family wasn't exhausted and the location wasnt so good, i would have left the first night.

There was no on site parking. They are doing construction and half of the parking is taken by the dumpsters. It took us 45 mins to find parking where we felt safe leaving our car over night and then walk back to the hotel. We were lucky i think we were the only room with a view of the beach and Ocean. The room was ok and being so close to the pier and ocean was very convenient. If there would have been some way to communicate the parking situation it would have been better. Expectations are important.

Never again. The room was a bit run down and the bathroom was in bad shape. The shower head hardly worked and we only got barley warm water. It is very close to the beach, which is nice, but that was about it. We had the family room with 3 beds. The twin bed was a thin mattress on a creaky metal frame. I am thankful our 3rd wasn't able to make so they didn't have to sleep on that. The full sized bed is in a niche with dark curtain but it has a skylight so no sleeping in if you like it dark! There was a small space heater running in the living room, but nothing was said if the heat actually works in there or not, so we struggled to keep it comfy. Also, you have to go through a locked gate that doesn't latch on its own, so people who are not guests or residents of that alley cut through all the time, so its not secure. And the biggest nope is the parking situation. They have like 8 parking spots and its first come first served. They mention alternate parking that is at the civic center parking garage 2 BLOCKS AWAY uphill from the hotel, so it was a nightmare lugging our stuff back up to the car when we checked out because the traffic pattern is such that it is MUCH harder to get back to the hotel than it is to get to the parking garage.

Parking reservations in advance is a must. Parking space was difficult to maneuver. The room was quaint, the room was musty, as the air needed to circulate. We left the portable fan on and left the door partially open, to get airflow in the unit, Towels were left damp and not so fresh. The bed was comfy but the pillows were lumpy with rough bed sheets & blankets. Perhaps, a refreshed stock of linens is overdue. Ideal location and walking distance to the pier, restaurants and promenade.

Once checked in we were advised that there was a construction truck taking up two of the spaces (parked vertically across.) and that we could try to squeeze into the one next to it, which was a tight up hill space that was a challenge to park a small car in. When I asked if we could talk to the construction crew to see if they could move the car, I was told that "she was trying to manage everything" at which point I gave up. The room as also small, with a bed pressed up against the wall, and loud, not sure if this was construction related but there was considerable noise and banging on the morning. All in all I am glad I only spent a night there and would recommend staying elsewhere if visiting Santa Monica.

Definitely an older hotel with need for updating. Pictures on web site may have been taken with a very good wide angle lens and photoshopped as the rooms were quite small and the shower very small. Good access to beach. Only heat in room was a space heater that triggered the breaker if small refrigerator and heater went on at same time. Good area and clean. Just expected more given the web site pictures which are a little misleading. This is a smaller older hotel with little amenities on site.

We stayed three nights in November. Front desk staff was very friendly and kind. Parking looks a little iffy, but even if your car is blocked by another, the front desk can move the car quickly so you can get out. Our room was comfortable, even though quite small. King bed was very comfortable. Everything was very clean. It was nice to be able to open the windows and let the fresh air inside. The bathroom was super clean, my only issue was the shower pressure which was almost non-existent. Location can't be beat! Short walk to anywhere you want to go, whether the Pier, Main Street, or the Promenade Shopping side. We would've loved a coffee maker in the room, but the lobby does have coffee at all times. I would def stay here again.

Room was over priced for the quality the room. There was cracked tile on the floor leading to the washroom. Daughter picked her bare foot on them. Lucky it didn’t cut her! The the beds were so soft there was a dip in the center making for a very uncomfortable sleep. Plus the noise! So loud, the street noise was so clear. I swore the door and windows were open. Dave your cash. Stay somewhere else!

Read the fine print about reserving hotel parking. Staff was not friendly and did not inform us of the building construction that started at 8 am with jackhammers that ratted our room until about 3 pm each day we were there. Maybe there is a beach view from a higher floor but not on the first floor where we were. For the price, there are other options close by that are better.

I was in room 14, this hotel stay is average atleast not meant for us. AC fixture is in the washroom can you believe it, so you have to keep washroom open to get cool air. The shower area is so small, cannot bend even with no light in cubicle. Fridge doesnot work good,You can get tea coffee at front desk area and there is microwave too. Lot of noise from above floor, outside road and next rooms so u can barely sleep. Highly overpriced due to proximity to sea and pier. Parking is extra for around 30$. Will not recommend but staff is good.

The room itself was average. The shower was tiny and clean. The bathroom in general was very small. The air conditioner unit was terribly loud, so loud that we had to turn it off, which meant sleeping in a hot room with just the ceiling fan. The parking was also over a block away, which was unfortunate because the site I booked through said that there was parking and the photos showed parking. I guess you get what you pay for, unfortunately, the price for staying near the beach in a subpar hotel is still really expensive.

The hotel is very charming and I was excited to stay here. However, the rooms have no heat and it gets cold at night on the ocean. They provide a small, very loud electrical space heater. I was very uncomfortable sleeping with it running. My bed had A LOT of long black hair in it. I fell asleep on top of the covers and got into bed sometime during the night. I woke up in a mess of someone’s hair. There was the same hair next to the bathtub. I checked out and paid my bill. Once the bill was settled I showed a handful of hair to the manager at the desk. Without looking up he replied “sorry that happened; thank you for letting us know” His complete disinterest in the situation makes me believe this is a common complaint. If I was the manager, I would have been mortified. Don’t stay here. Spend a few dollars more for a clean bed and heat. You deserve better than what this motel can offer you.

First and foremost, try to figure out your parking ahead of your arrival time. The parking at the hotel is not free. There are public parking places around the hotel and are substantially cheaper than the hotel. Thus, do your research ahead of time and don’t fall for the up-sale like I did. Secondly, when you get to your room, check the food and drink items on the dresser by the TV. Make sure that none of the items have been previously opened and/or eaten. We didn’t check and found a bottle of water opened and partially consumed. Lesson learned. And last but not least, if you venture down the path to the lower gate to go to the beach and pier, remember that you will have to go up the side street to the top/front gate to get back in. Only the residents that live in the gated community have a key to enter through the lower gate. Beyond the previous, it is a cute somewhat rustic hotel. And there is a plethora of restaurants and the famous Santa Monica pier in walking distance from the hotel as well.

Two things didn't meet my expectations. The room was smaller than I expected. Our room was upstairs on the street side. Other guests walked inches from our windows so I didn't want to keep blinds open which felt a little restrictive. There were also pictures of outdoor seating and red umbrellas on the website. I saw that area on another side of the building as I drove away after the stay and wondered if that seating was for individual rooms or for anyone. I may have missed that information on the website or at check in.

The unit we had (#21) had two beds (to sleep 3 people) but only a single chair and no table. There was an area outside the bathroom that looks like it used to be a kitchen area, which had a safe, an ironing board, and a mini-fridge, as well as an area for clothes. One could leave some items there, but not sit. Luckily we did not spend too much time in our room, but when we did in the late afternoon before, or after dinner, it would have been nice not to just have the bed available to sit. Heating consisted of a little fan, since the gas heater that is on the wall is disconnected, but still has the thermostat on the wall. The front desk staff (4 different people during our stay were a mix of very friendly and helpful versus minimal conversation and information. One of the night people was very helpful - he called when there ere packages delivered that showed my first name (but no last name). Turned out they were not mine, but I appreciated that he went through the effort of finding the only person at the hotel with that first name on that date and then contacted me.
