Free parking, the room was equipped with everything you need. No dining or shopping possibilities in walking distance, the room was clean but the bed sheets were questionable and we had issues with their accounting.
- 5/5
Excellent location. Spacious rooms with all the amenities. Very clean and the light breakfast is a lovely touch.

I really enjoyed my stay. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The breakfast was more like a light snack, but it was very convenient and a nice bonus. I also really appreciated that the staff kindly allowed us to check in a little earlier and check out a bit later. Thank you for being so accommodating! The location is perfect. There is a Starbucks and a Panda Express nearby, so it’s very easy to grab a coffee or something to eat. The only thing I didn’t like was that the windows couldn’t be opened. There wasn’t much fresh air in the room for me personally. There is a ventilation system, but I still felt like I needed more fresh air.
- 5/5
Pleasantly surprised with my stay. The room itself was clean and updated. Had all the amenities needed - microwave, fridge, desk and chair. Stay was during early June so the weather was cool. Didn’t find a way to get the AC to work but the overhead fan did fine enough to move air around the room. Snacks were available in the lobby from 7-9 (coffee, fruit cups, juice, tea, oatmeal) just simple things. Shower water pressure was decent and the water was hot.
- 1/5
I booked queen size bed. They gave us full size. There is no ac also. Bad experience.
- 3.5/5
The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Simple breakfast was a plus. There was no air conditioning in the room which was ok as the weather was not too hot but any hotter and it would not have been pleasant, even with the fan provided.
- 5/5
Amazing staff wonderful rooms the manager andrea even helped with getting a ride to the pier and saved us so much time and stress
- 5/5
The parking was easy and secure. The hotel is close to restaurants, stores and Mel's Dinner. The room was big enough, and the beds were comfy. We loved our stay there!
- 5/5
Best location, clean and nice staff
- 3.5/5
Great location, the free parking is an added bonus that helped us pick this place.
- 5/5
The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms and grounds were great.
- 4/5
Conveniently located. Rooms were clean but small. Staff were friendly and beds were comfortable. The free e-bikes were a nice bonus. Worth a stay for a night or two to explore Santa Monica and Venice.
- 4.5/5
Superb
- 4/5
Needs to specify that there is no AC
- 4/5
We had a lovely spacious room with a really comfy bed. The snack breakfast was a bonus and the free rental bikes was an even bigger bonus.
- 5/5
It’s was amazing!! The ladies in the front desk were awesome helping with any questions.
- 5/5
It is an older motel but amazingly maintained. Room was super clean and the ladies on the front desk were so friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our car here and walked to Venice Beach and to the Santa Monica Pier. We would definitely come back.

The hotel staff are excellent and professional. They care about their clients and go above and beyond to help them with problems large and small. I would stay there again and would recommend Hotel Santa Monica to others very highly!
- 3/5
Clean and convenient for the price. I was not aware that there was no A/C upon arrival. The TV is old and does not have steaming apps.

Nothing Everything, so bad I never even checked in

Location is not good and misleading in the ad. Location, very costly for a tiny room also misleading title such as santa monica hotel. It looks more like motel and far from everywhere lively.

They do not disclose that parking is first come first serve and I had to park on the street with hopes of not getting towed. Bugs in the room! Shower handle broke off. Front desk staff were rude. First time here was great! Second time will be the last time! Will never stay again!
- 5/5
Although I would consider the property more of a motel then a hotel, it was clean, well kept and had everything we needed for the short time we were there. It wasn't too far from the Santa Monica Pier and was a quick Uber ride to the event center hosting the event we had tickets to. If we find ourselves in Santa Monica in the future, we'll consider staying here again.

Feels more like a motel, yet they charge a hidden $28/day “resort fee.” Rooms are tiny, noise insulation is terrible, and the “free breakfast” is just granola bars, fruit, and juice packs. Completely misleading and not worth the money.

Everybody was super nice, they made sure it was okay with me to clean my room. I had zero problems with such a fun trip!! 100% coming back to this hotel next time im there 😋

Great location
- 5/5
GREAT LOCATION LOVE FREE PARKING!!!!!!
- 4/5
Parking was fine
- 4/5
The property was cute and staff was friendly. I wish it was clear when booking the room did not have AC. It was unseasonably warm and it was a challenge to stay cool at night but the area was very quiet.
- 3/5
I was issued an upgrade, however when I arrived at my upgraded hotel they made it a whole thing and tried to say I wasn’t upgraded- and that I would have to pay and it was a scam. After speaking to the GM about it- I had been upgraded and they undid it on my arrival. Staff at Santa Monica hotel made our stay great- but the staff at their sister hotel ocean view were awful to us.
- 5/5

- 3/5
This surrounding area was mediocre, there’s no air-conditioning
- 4/5
This is a really nice boutique type hotel that despite its age has been nicely restored. Room was modern and clean. Great location that is walking distance to Santa Monica Pier. Only complaint at all was water pressure being very low in sink and shower.

Lovely stay Laura was amazing and really helpful! Such lovely people! The place was super clean and the back rooms were VERY quiet!
- 4/5
Great location, clean room and lobby. Coffee was provided in the morning. Shower had great water pressure. Only complaint is the walls are paper thin. I was woken up several times in the middle of the night by other guests walking pass my room talking. Wished the room were better insulated
- 5/5
Room was very clean. Great location. Staff was nice and helpful.
- 5/5
A lovely hotel with friendly, helpful employees. We spent two nights with our dog and had a very positive experience. Room 32 is on the street, but it’s a somewhat larger room. For us, the street was like white noise in the background, so we all slept great. Probably not for someone who has trouble sleeping though. There is a great dog park in the neighborhood.

The room was super clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. Highly recommend this location for a reasonable rate in Santa Monica.
- 5/5
The room was simple but clean. I loved the toiletries they provided as well as the snacks in the morning. The staff was nice.
- 5/5
Experienced was great besides the whole place is so cute . The room is phenomenal. I will definitely go back. Oh and staffs are so sweet and the best!
- 3/5
I was on the first floor, and I could hear the people above me walking around the room.
- 5/5
However, the plus point is that the pier is about 18 mins walking distance from the hotel. Great amenities!
- 5/5
Thank you for such a welcoming reception! Delightful stay in such a nice oasis in the middle of a busy city! Definitely coming back!😁
- 5/5
The room was clean and great!

- 5/5
The Young Lady in the office Sierra was excellent, made everything so easy and very personable
- 2/5
No air conditioning !?!? That’s crazy
- 4/5
The only negative is that they don’t have AC so the room got uncomfortable at night . They do provide extra fans though.

The parking was very limited and congested, making it inconvenient. The worst part was the flies and insects coming out of the sink and into the room, which made the stay very uncomfortable. On a positive note, the staff was nice and helpful, but overall this was a bad experience and not what I expected. I left feeling very disappointed.

The Hotel employees were very nice and professional. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
We only stayed one night but were impressed with the cleanliness and facilities. The location was great too. We used it as a stop off on the way to LAX and it allowed us to go into Santa Monica before an easy drive to the airport. Nice, friendly staff too.
- 4/5
evrything good and I liked
- 4/5
Very nice and cosy
- 4/5
My son and I stayed for a few days here just exploring LA. It is a really cute place and nicely updated! However, get ready for small and quaint. Like no drawers for our stuff (I sometimes put clothes away!). Other than that, had all the basics. Parking is *tight* but it's LA and we were happy to even have parking! You can walk to the Santa Monica beach area w coffee shops etc but it's about a 20min brisk walk. The staff are in the office on and off. (Door is locked when they aren't there). Breakfast needs a bit of an upgrade I'm afraid. Just sugary stuff, all in packages. Overall, the place was pretty sweet (haha) just on the small side so be ready for that :) Would return.
- 4/5
Great stay, but there is no aircondition in the room
- 5/5
“Very nice and clean hotel. Within walking distance of many restaurants, and just a 15-minute walk to the beach and Urth Caffé. There’s an absolute gem nearby — the Italian restaurant Piccolo.” Let me know if you’d like it to sound more formal, casual, or tailored for a review site.
- 5/5
It had everything a traveler would need I loved it
- 5/5
Excellent location. Free parking.
- 5/5
Very nice. Older motel with very nice updates. Very good value. Free parking was a huge plus. Good towels and linens. Extremely clean. No air conditioning but they did provide a box fan if needed. We slept with a window open and the ceiling fan. Mattress could have been softer.
- 5/5
The staff were very friendly and helpful
- 5/5
It was great.
- 5/5
Will definitly stay again!
- 4/5
The staff was nice
- 5/5
It was nice and cozy. Very eco friendly. Nicely located. Would recommend
- 3/5
The room we stayed in was as expected and immaculate! Staff, especially housekeeping, were very responsive and friendly. The area in general is not that great and very noisy. Because the room is not air conditioned, the windows had to stay open. We heard every car go by, as well as all activity in a very tight parking area.
- 3/5
Room was very small for four people. Good location and parking availability was a plus.
- 3/5
Charging a resort fee is outrageous. You get nothing for it. It is not a resort. Then you charge 3$ for a bottle of water. Over priced.
- 2/5
Nunca me regresaron el dinero que se deja por seguridad.
- 4/5
We really enjoyed staying at Santa Monica Hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful. There was really only one downside - the room was pretty warm and there seemed to be no A/C. Overall, it was a good value for the area and a lovely walk down to the beach.
- 5/5
Very nice are and close to the beach.
- 5/5

- 5/5
Such a cute little place to lay your head. It was pretty quiet, beds were super comfy & it had a nice vibe. Easy access to beach on foot, or a quick uber ride. We’d definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Very cute, nice travel motel
- 3/5
This is a cute motel (cool mural) in “inland” Santa Monica. The rooms are newer, parking is easy and included, small breakfast/ snacks included. About a mile walk to beach and pier. Now for the not so fun part: we stayed in room 32, which is the first room as you enter the courtyard. The windows face the street. It being at ground level and with no AC, we wanted to keep the windows open for ventilation. Aside from privacy concerns (folks are walking right by your bed), it was so incredibly noisy all evening and night long. Ended up closing the windows and the noise was still difficult to sleep through. At 8AM, construction started right in front of the window! There was no sign of construction when we checked in. Anyway, I’d recommend asking for a room off the street. It did look like only 32 was that exposed to the outside.
- 4/5
Stayed 2 nights, staff were friendly and accommodating with parking our car early and looking after our luggage. Also there was a very small complimentary breakfast grab and go offering that we weren't expecting which was a nice suprise. The room was very hot, we mentioned this to the staff and they were very kind but said there was little they could do. It didn't affect our stay overall though as we opened windows overnight. Room was well decorated and very clean. Some odd clientele but again didn't affect our stay and no one made excess noise. Rooms were also pretty sound proof. Only thing missing was a safe in the room (having said that, we accidentally left our door open most of the day while we were out and thankfully everything was untouched). Would stay again and recommend to other. Good value for money.
- 5/5
Super friendly staff.
- 5/5
Staff were friendly and parking was handy room was clean
- 5/5
This is a hidden GEM!!! Love this place!!! Laura at the front desk is very kind and friendly. Will definitely stay here again. Family of 5 great family room.
- 5/5
Cute, boutique hotel. It is loud, however, which is somewhat to be expected from a motel setup. I pretty much heard every car door and key lock beep throughout the night. Also, our window didn’t lock right, which was concerning for a first floor room. Overall, it’s fine, but not what I expected for the price. Not sure I would walk to the beach from here.
- 5/5
Great location. Minutes to everywhere we wanted to go. Front desk and housekeeping were ALL friendly and helpful. It is a little older hotel but i would absolutely stay here again.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff. Hotel is close to the beach
- 5/5
Clean, affordable and includes free parking.
- 5/5
All the staff were amazing !!!

This is not a hotel. It is a motel. Pictures are not same in Expedia web page. Reality is different. We already cancelled our booking. However hotel charged us. Now i am still waiting for refund. !
- 5/5
The room was very clean and comfortable, the service was excellent, and we could easily walk to the beach. We have stayed there twice and will continue to do so whenever we visit family in Santa Monica.
- 3/5
Room kind small the bed not queen side
- 5/5
This place is really nice and clean and cozy! Perfect aside from the location, outside of it is a little sketchy but its not like they can control that. It is pretty safe once youre inside, and very very friendly staff! I stayed in the winter so AC didnt matter, so i didnt check to see how good that is. Loved it, Good times

Staff was great. Room was nice and very clean.
- 4/5
Great Place, clean rooms, nice staff.
- 3/5
The room I got was right by the window and it was extremely hard to sleep at night. Other than that it was good. It was clean and looked nice on the inside.
- 5/5
Comfy beds and nice staff made it worthwhile
- 5/5
All aspects of our stay were great!
- 4/5
The stay was nice and quiet
- 5/5
Cute and comfortable. Free parking and close to Santa Monica and Venice Beach.
- 5/5
Cute and friendly motel
- 1/5
I had an absolutely terrible experience with this establishment, and I feel compelled to warn others. This place is not a hotel—it’s a motel situated right beside a highway, with constant noise that makes it impossible to relax. The description online claimed it was a quiet location near the water, which couldn’t be further from the truth. I was in my room for no more than five minutes before deciding it wasn’t acceptable, and that’s when the real issues began. I was assured I could cancel without penalty, but instead, I’ve been charged my original booking cost, a “holding fee for incidentals,” and an additional $400 for no apparent reason. In total, I’ve been charged more than $600 above what I originally agreed to, despite not staying a single night. When I contacted Alisha Richardson, she assured me that I would be refunded everything except the cost of one night. Weeks later, I still haven’t received any refund, and instead, I’ve seen new charges on my credit card that I can’t even begin to explain. To make matters worse, Expedia has been completely useless in helping me resolve this issue. Despite numerous calls and emails, they have taken no responsibility and offered no meaningful assistance. Their lack of accountability has only added to the stress and frustration of dealing with this mess. I now have to cancel my credit card because I genuinely don’t trust this business. The lack of communication and th

Wanted to give us a double bed and not queen bed as reservation stated…after long back and forth tired and angry, we got the queen size bed. Room had ants in the bathroom!
- 5/5
The property is really cute!! I loved the design!! No air which was fine, windows do open slightly and there is a ceiling fan and a stand-up fan. Everything was clean and staff was friendly. Front desk Laura was amazing!! She was friendly and helpful!! We will definitely be back!!
- 3/5
For a quick trip the hotel is fine. Rooms are small, much smaller than depicted. The rooms do not have a traditional coffee maker, fridge or microwave. Extremely basic and much farther to pier that depicted on map.
- 4/5
A kitch, hip vibe characterizes this former motel property updated into a contemporary place to stay in Santa Monica. The room was very comfortable, the location was great if you’re staying in West LA/beach area. Very easy access to the freeway system.
- 4/5
Nice Staff, Room was clean.
- 4/5
Nice room. No A/C, so maybe not in mid-summer.
- 3/5
This is definitely just a dressed up motel, not a hotel. The price seemed a bit high for the accommodations, but maybe that's just how California is - we're not from California. The room was very clean and everything was decorated really cute. The parking was a big plus! The mattress was not good. It was loud - as you might expect a motel to be - but we brought a sound machine and slept good.
- 4/5
When we arrived we had to clean the bathroom sink because there were hair shavings in it, having said that for the rest of our stay the room was kept nice and clean. Staff were friendly but knowledge of the area was limited. Not enough storage facikities for clothes in the room. Beds were comfy and bathroom was big. A pleasant 20 minute walk to the beach pier, bars and restaurants. Overall we enjoyed our stay
- 5/5
If you like a sweet spot with lots of character that reflects the place where you are visiting and that has good beds and friendly staff this is the spot for you.
- 5/5
Great value, clean, great decor
- 1/5
This place is on a main drag, with no air conditioning when it’s 105° out
- 4/5
Staff was awesome, always willing to offer a hand, friendly
- 5/5
Good stay
- 5/5
This small hotel, but it is very near Santa Monica pier and Venice Beach, I think it’s a great place to stay with a family or to go for business. The staff is really friendly and also really helpful.
- 5/5
Everything Is ok!!! Caffè wonderful!
- 3/5
Room was small. Windows were open when we got in the room. No AC, which was assumed in Southern CA. Although named Hotel it is a Motel.
- 5/5
Very clean, walkable to the pier, staff very friendly
- 4/5
We had a two night stay. The staff was super helpful and friendly. However the room didn’t have air conditioning, I needed to ask for a new iron and extra towels since there was 3 of us but only 2 towels. Only had beach towels to buy, not use. They do have a water filter in the lobby to refill water bottles. The outside is a cute pink aesthetic. You can save $10 by not having housekeeping come by. They have free breakfast items but just prepackaged muffins, apple juice, granola bars, and fruit cocktail. They say the lobby is open 24hrs but it’s locked at a certain point so you have to knock and sometimes they’ve stepped away so you have to wait for them to come back. But budget friendly and beds clean.
- 3/5
Very close to a busy street that’s noisy. No AC. However, the bed and bathroom are very comfortable and clean. No closet space to hang anything. Nespresso machine in room is great to use. Shower head is powerful. Friendly staff. Limited breakfast items: breakfast bar, apple and muffins.
- 5/5
great value
- 5/5
A super cute, vintage but well kempt place with free bikes! Will be back.
- 5/5
Very unique styling and good space in the room.
- 5/5
We loved our experience. Our room was very clean. The beds comfortable, and we had everything we needed. We would stay again.

- 3/5
Decent hotel for the cost. Walkable to the main areas. Hotel doesn’t have AC.
- 1/5
No air conditioning
- 3/5
I liked the area it was close to many things to do around LA but I was not too fond of the parking situation.
- 5/5
Absolutely wonderful staff! Extremely clean ! Would highly recommend!
- 3/5
Clean and comfortable room but no air conditioning. It was a bit hot and stuffy and the fan did little to chill things down
- 5/5
Cleanness
- 5/5
This is an old motor in that has been re-furbished. It is not fancy or wonderful but clean and comfortable. They have done a nice job on the grounds but it is still a motor inn with small rooms. I was surprised it got Wonderful, yet I just left all 5 stars. nothing fancy or exceptional.
- 2/5
Everything about this place was beautiful apart from the sound of sirens wailing all night long which kept mum awake through the night.
- 5/5
Small hotel boutique very clean, nice staff and very accessible.
- 2/5
This hotel was the most expensive, but turned out to be the worst one out of the entire trip. First, they charge a $100 pet fee. I really wish I knew that earlier on. I was not expecting such an outrageous amount. I’ve stayed at hotels nicer than this with dogs and it was never that high. I asked why it’s so high and was told that it’s probably to prevent people with dogs from staying here. It makes sense. But, I wish I found a more dog friendly place (like every hotel we stayed at before coming here). The room wasn’t immaculate but clean overall. The decor is cute. The room was so small and noisy. We were in one of the rooms that faces the street and it got very loud. But the worst part of the room was that they don’t have any A/C. I was told I could open the windows. I didn’t feel particularly safe doing that since we were right in front of passing traffic. But my poor dog was very uncomfortable, so I opened the windows and had the smell of cigarette smoke directly outside my window. At least they gave us two fans which provided a little relief. But I felt so bad for my dog who was panting all night because of how hot it was. The beach was about a 20 minute walk away. I regret spending so much to stay here. It wasn’t worth it.
