Whitney at the front desk was wonderful when we arrived. She was friendly, courteous, and incredibly helpful, which made us feel welcome from the start. The hotel and service were excellent. It’s within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and all the attractions we wanted to visit. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The location was one of the biggest highlights of my stay. The hotel is only about a six-minute walk from Santa Monica Pier and Santa Monica Beach, and Venice Beach is just a 10–20 minute bike ride away. There are also plenty of shops, restaurants, and attractions nearby, making it an extremely convenient place to stay. A few things to be aware of before booking: there is a $30 per night travel fee that wasn't clearly explained to me, so I recommend asking about that in advance. Parking is also an additional charge, typically around $55–$60 per day. To save money, we chose to park at a nearby garage, which cost about $30–$40 per day. The hotel does not have an on-site gym. Instead, guests have access to a small gym located about a seven-minute walk away. Personally, I preferred running along the beach rather than using the gym. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely consider staying here again because of the excellent customer service and unbeatable location.

We stayed in room 209, we had a perfect chew of the pier and the ocean. Rooms are beautiful and clean, and got a birthday surprise from the hotel. Shower pressure was very low, otherwise absolute 10/10 stay. Can’t wait to come back <3

The property was amazing, we had the ocean view room. The room was very clean, best pressured shower head. Eva and Ashley were wonderful staff and very helpful. The location is amazing, 5 min to the beach and the pier. We will return to the same hotel if we come back to visit in Santa Monica.

I've had a big problem with getting back my deposit. It was said I get my money back in 3-5 days, but 30 days have already gone and it’s no money. I sent them a remainder about my money, but no answer. It's not appropriate behaviou for a serious hotel. Also they promised to pay me exra money because I participated in their green policy, but they also forgot about their promise. I'm upset

Location, location, location is everything and this hotel did not disappoint. Next to everything as 5 minute walk to beach, pier, shopping, etc. They don't have many amenities but they have a sister hotel you can use there stuff. I didn't use it but walked by the sister hotel and the bar/pool was always popping! The hotel is clean but in corners you can tell housekeeping doesn't get in there and things build up in the hallways. The rooms are clean but every night the bed felt like there was sand in it. Even when we didn't go to the beach and we had them change the sheets. It's quiet and insulation is good, didn't hear my neighbors or people outside unless I opened to the door. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Only reason I didn't give full stars is the sand in bed. I know everyone goes to the beach and so it must just be in their washing machines and so they can't ever truly get it out. Other then that I honestly would stay here again just because the cost and location and deal with a little sandy bed. If they raise their prices though I wouldn't.

Our balcony faced the ocean and there was an excellent view of the sunset. The staff was fabulous and Heidi was helpful and attentive to our needs. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary found a treat outside our door to help us celebrate. Parking was by valet the pier was so close. Great seafood (Water Grill and Whaler) were within walking distance. Thanks staff and Heidi for making our stay just perfect.

The people who work there are so so sweet especially the lady at night I forget her name but she’s honestly the best, about the hotel, we arrived at around 1 am. Absolutely exhausted, to walk into the room and a HUGE roach was on the ground running from out the bathroom , thankfully the lady working at night killed it for us, we were mortified but she switched our room for the night and it was fine from then on, the hotel only gave the first night free parking n then took off 100 dollars for something. To be so for real, should’ve been th first day free. Worried the rest of the trip about roaches, should NOT be a worry but it was. Everyone know they did what they could I guess but I still don’t agree with paying 3000 cad for a hotel w a roach. Pretty gross

Great location and nicely appointed rooms. Paid for the ocean front room and balcony which was great, but it was a bit oddly shaped, two people don’t really fit with the door in the way. There was an online check in process that took a bit of time, but even so it was a bit brusque at the front desk…. Ps there was an off putting scent in the air-conditioner.

The beds were quite uncomfortable, especially considering how expensive the hotel is. Each morning, we were also woken up by loud screaming and yelling from homeless outside, which made the experience even more unpleasant. Additionally, the customer service was poor, and the rooms did not live up to the value advertised. The photos on the website were misleading and did not accurately reflect the actual condition of the rooms. Overall, this stay did not meet expectations, and I would not consider returning after paying over $1000 for two nights.

Nice hotel across the beach in Santa Monica

The location was great, with lots of nice restaurants at short walking distance, and Santa Monica pier 10 minutes away by walking. Getting to/from the beach wasn’t too easy for us because of the elevation and having to take stairs or ramp and my wife being pregnant, but otherwise location is perfect The bed was good but a bit firm for my preference. It also wasn’t exactly a large king bed, but still a little bigger than a queen size bed. Also, being on the second floor I could hear a lot of noise coming from the street, the hallway, and the room above.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I felt that the property was secure. The rooms were clean - and I really appreciated their ‘green’ program, where you could request that towels / sheets not be changed daily. We didn’t have a car, but there appeared to be a nice parking area. It was close to fabulous restaurants, the promenade and the pier. I would definitely consider staying there again!

This hotel is conveniently located on the “strip” of Santa Monica pier neighborhood. While the facility does not have a restaurant, there are many in the area including at their “sister” hotel just a few doors away. The rooms are slightly dated, but very comfortable and clean. A good hotel overall.

The location was great and the staff was so friendly. When we checked in Heidi immediately noticed my birthday was the next day and arranged for a gift of birthday treats which arrived with a balloon. The room was very comfortable, great for sleeping.

Clean Room, Great Staff!

I recently stayed here for my Birthday. Mar 5 - Mar 9. The staff and location makes this hotel a competitor. Check in was quick and easy. The young lady who checked me in was professional. Another desk clerked helped someone who had just checked out by allowing him to charge his phone on the lobby. But Teresa is the real superstar of all! She really made me feel special by not only taking pics of me on my Bday but she actually got down on her knees to get angles! She also gave chocolate for my day. Now, on to the room. The room was a huge disappointment. It was the equivalent of staying at a motel 6. It smelled a little, the bed was extremely uncomfortable, the fridge kept everything extra warm, the internet was only free for one day, and the view was atrocious for the amount of money paid. To only have a view of a parking lot is criminal on a Bday trip. I advised upon check in that this was for my Bday and requested a nice room if possible. I was advised all the rooms were nice and an upgrade wasn't possible. The room was so unacceptable, that I can't recommend this hotel nor will i come back when there's other properties next to it offering a better conditions.

The ocean front view was amazing! We were able to see the Santa Monica Pier from our balcony and was nice to be able to sit and sight see from our room. The staff was super friendly and very helpful, they made our stay nice and easy.

We were on the second floor. To our right was the beautiful ocean and to our left was the pier. It was absolutely gorgeous and a perfect place to have a glass of wine while watching the sunset. It takes just a a few minutes to walk to the pier which has great food and of course, the whole pier experience with rides. When we travel, we always say pay for location, location, location, and this is definitely worth every penny! The staff at the front desk were great and very knowledgeable about the area. If we should ever come this way again, we would definitely stay here.

The whole presentation of the hotel the cleanliness and how friendly the staff were. Nothing seemed too much trouble and they were always there to help. Maybe a side restaurant for meals like breakfast launch and dinner nothing too fancy just basic meals. That is about it everything else was just amazing

There were alot of things around to eat and explore so we didnt stay much in the room. The beds were too firm for our liking as it gave us shoulder and nack pains.

Other than that, the hotel has a great location. It is in walking distance to the Santa Monica Pier, restaurants and the beach. We were in town for a weekend long event. We rode scooters down to Venice Beach and that was fun for the family.

The Ocean View Hotel has an unbeatable location in Santa Monica and Theresa and Jay at check-in were really friendly and welcoming. That said, we had a frustrating experience booking direct with the hotel, including cancellations of some rooms before arrival. The rooms we booked through Booking.com were much smoother. It was also difficult to get in touch with the sales/staffing manager to resolve the cancellations — I had to follow up three times. Rooms were clean but fairly basic, with fully tiled floors and balconies that felt a bit run down. For the price, the location is great, but if you’re planning to spend a lot of time in the room, you may want to consider other options.

The room smelled and the bathroom vent wasn’t working. I booked at this location before and I had the same experience last time. I was hoping by now it was fixed.

location is great. No vending machines to get water or snacks. The fridge was full of the drinks that I must purchase and the fridge had no room to put my own water bottles or my food to keep them cool and fresh.

I was able to check in early since my room was ready! It allowed me to go enjoy the beach which is conveniently located across the highway.

If you like to have no power, this is the place to go!!! Bright emergency light all night in your face, no power to run anything else, including AC! Can’t even get down stairs to the lobby without going outside and all around the dark back way- but hey if that’s your thing- this is your place!

A few months ago, we had the same exceptional experience with Joy, which is the main reason we decided to return to this hotel. We were delighted to see her again as we were leaving — she was just as pleasant, friendly, and genuine as she was during our first stay. Encounters like these truly make us feel at home, and we now consider this hotel our home away from home whenever we’re in Santa Monica. The only thing that could make our stay even better would be if the rooms had a microwave for added convenience, and perhaps an incentive program for repeat guests, such as complimentary parking. These small touches would be the perfect finishing detail to an already outstanding experience. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with the service, hospitality, and comfort at the Ocean View Hotel. We will definitely be back!

The Shore Hotel perfectly delivers on a clean, modern, and walkable oceanfront stay. It's situated directly across from the beach and steps from the Santa Monica Pier and Third Street Promenade. Guest rooms are bright and frequently offer stunning ocean views from private balconies. It is highly convenient, though expect a lively atmosphere (and premium price/parking) due to its central, desirable location.

The view from my room was an overflowing mound of trash next to the conference room and for $1,000.00 for 2 nights I would expect better. Also I got hit with an additional $125.00 upon checking in that was not mentioned anywhere until I arrived and it was too late, multiple $35 resort fees, taxes for everything and I didn’t use any of the resort amenities, that fee should be prorated based off the amount of resort services and amenities you take advantage of not a flat rate.

Convenient location and clean. Unresponsive and indifferent front desk. Valet guy gets it and was awesome. Super noisy guest above me that started stomping, thumping things, moving furniture and slamming doors from 10 pm to midnight kept me from sleeping. And then started up again at 6:30 in the morning. Front desk interrupted me during my call for assistance and told me it was “the city “. Umm, yeah- I’ve stayed many cities, can tell the difference between noise coming from the room above and street noise. My colleague in another room had issues with a couple next door loudly arguing. In addition, they need to add black out curtains as the property lights shine right through the shutters.

The hotel was clean, well kept, and had a nice view of the beach. However, getting a hold of the front desk was difficult and inconvenient. Not all charges were included and we ended paying more than we expected.

I’ve stayed at this hotel twice now and both experiences have been amazing. We’ve stayed with 2 dogs before and it was an easy check in and out. It is right across the street from the Santa Monica boardwalk and has a ton of restaurants and shops nearby you can just walk to. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. I love their showers!! There is minor noise which is normal anywhere. The front desk staff is so nice and polite and always helpful. This is for sure my go to hotel while in Santa Monica.

I stay at Ocean View Hotel every three months for business, and it never disappoints. The service is consistent, the location is perfect, and the ocean-view rooms with private balconies are unbeatable for the price. The front desk staff are some of the nicest and most accommodating people you’ll meet. If you don’t need extras like a pool or spa, this boutique hotel is a go-to.

We had an amazing tine at Ocean View Hotel! The bed is so comfortable! It is right in the heart of the action and across the street to the pier. My Mom is in an electric scooter and on oxygen so having so many options for food, entertainment and action so close was the best! The staff were so friendly, housekeeping was amazing! I loved the private pet area! So convenient! I will be back!

Location was perfect and the reason we chose this hotel, easy walk to the pier and beach. Hotel was nice and clean. My only complaint would be the pretty high parking fee after booking a room that wasn't cheap, but we knew about it before booking so what can i say. The resort fee comes with a few perks that if you actually used them you could get some value out of them but we didnt end up taking advantage of any. All in all it was a good stay and the area was nice.

Main gripes is the internet is horrible, I come out here for work and try new hotels all the time and I had to leave to do my after-hours video calls at Starbucks and other coffee shops. It's really really bad. Also the sound travels a ton between rooms, I was woken up twice at 4am by my neighbor above me seemingly riverdancing. I informed the front desk both times and I think they called and resolved it, but sound travels a lot in the space. All in all, it's totally fine. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean. The location is great. Just don't go there expecting great internet and complete solitude. It may have been a one off experience though, but I won't be booking there again.

This hotel was great! Loved that it was across the street from the beach and pier. Loved that they had a room with a belcony. Loved that it was also located within walking distance to the mall and so many dining options. It was also great that after i left i forgot a dress in the closet and i was able to get it back! The only down side is that the only parking is valet and it was pretry pricey! We'll be back!

Overall it is a nice hotel. Besides the broken ironing board in our room it was a nice spot! Customer service was great! Valet was cool too! Room was nice and clean and the oceanview was nice.

This hotel was conveniently located right across from Santa Monica Beach and offered plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Hotel was clean, staff friendly, and came with amazing ocean views. I rated a 4 star. The only two items to call out are the coffee downstairs, you're bettet off going to Starbucks, and the cleaning staff was very loud when cleaning rooms nearby. Other than this, I would absolutely stay here again and encourage others to check out this hotel, you will enjoy it!

Lots of restaurants & bars near by that you can walk to!

Valet was $60 but they scratched my van up pretty good on both sides squeezing it in. Some buffed out but most is permanent. Otherwise everything was fine.

Room 225 was Huge. Did not have an Ocean View, but size made up for it. Very Clean and Location was Great! Walking distance to Restaurants and Santa Monica Pier.

Amazing hotel and what the best part I enjoyed was the staff most of all. Very welcoming and did more then enough to make this weekend the best.

Hotel is really just a set of rooms and a reception. No bar which wasn’t made obvious on our booking. Rooms felt a little clinical as shutters and Lino floor. Staff were nice tho and water available to take out daily

The location was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I got there early and hoped to be able to check in early, which did not go well at all. They did hold my luggage for me while I explored the area.

What I liked about this hotel is that it is in a great location and the property is new and clean. What I did not like is that there is no microwave in the room and there is no fridge in the room. Also there is no free bottled water in the room or in the entire hotel (unlike most other hotels).

Everything was great. Staff was courteous Nd helpful. 15mb internet is not an appropriate connection in 2025, I have a thousand times that at home.

Exceptional staff and location. Room was the Oceanfront one and we could see the pier and beach. Lots of restaurants in the locality, just within 3 mins walk. Room itself was large and very well presented with a balcony to enjoy the sun set in the evening

Convenient from pier was not happy with loud noise at 11:00 at night. Called front desk nothing they could do. Beds not comfortable not recommended.

Our stay at the Ocean View hotel in Santa Monica was truly wonderful from the moment we arrived we were welcomed into a warm and friendly atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The hotel is not only beautifully maintained, but also exceptionally clean which added to our comfort and peace of mind throughout the day. A special highlight of our visit was encountering Joy who was incredibly attentive and kind her friendly, demeaning, genuine hospitality truly stood out and made our experience even more memorable. It’s always a comfort to stay in a place where the environment is so beautiful and welcoming we look forward to returning and highly recommend Ocean View Hotel to anyone visiting Santa Monica.

Great hotel, quiet and perfectly located. Ocean view was great, room was clean and nice. Bathroom could do with an update. Shower pressure was extreme and no adjustable shower head so was a bit difficult to use, but overall a nice stay. Would stay again.

The hotel was at the perfect location in the area, clean and very well maintained. Not so pretty on the outside, but surprisingly very pretty, modern and well decorated inside. The staff are amazing every one of them. Even the cleaning girls were very friendly and awesome!

Heidi Nelson and the rest of the staff were very welcoming and always helpful. The stay was amazing clean and friendly definitely will be booking in the future

Paid a little over $400 to not have a microwave in the room small fridge filled with their items to purchase room hair everywhere from prior people. Left my daughter‘s tablet filed a claim and they stated they’re unable to help me or get my item back so the person who cleaned the room kept my daughter‘s tablet. Charged me $90 for valet yet. They just brought me my car and parked. It did not help us load the car. I do not recommend this place. Horrible experience and not trustworthy people waste of money other hotels around for a little more everything else I wish I took the time to look before deciding on this property who do not take care of their visitors.

LOVE THIS HOTEL. My family and I had an amazing time in Santa Monica and enjoying the hotel. The staff was amazing, the accommodations were excellent, the location is fantastic. Highly recommend this location.

Staff was very nice, I just had an uneasy feeling (which is unusual for me) and it felt dirty. Hair on the bathroom floor, mold in the tired shower which bothered me much more than the dated room and bathroom. Had a wonderful rainfall shower head and an Excellent location across from the pier. I wanted to love it, I just couldn’t.

Great reception. Stored our luggage during the day while we were on a tour. Help with luggage. Walkable to shopping, beach, pier, shopping and several restaurants. We found the hotel was very quiet. Lovely, clean and spacious room. Very relaxing. Too bad we could stay only one night.
