Reviews
The hotel offers excellent value for money with clean, comfortable rooms, though they are on the small side. Guests appreciate the well-run establishment and friendly staff, but some find the lack of certain amenities, such as a microwave and end table, inconvenient. The shared bathrooms are generally clean, but their communal nature may not suit everyone's preferences.
- Excellent value for money

Very friendly check in staff I love how close it is to the beach and you have a variety of restaurants and fast to choose from area. Thanks again for the wonderful day.
- 3/5
Too much noise and not really clean in the room
- 5/5
Was what we ordered. Value and good location.
- 5/5
Trader Joe’s and Rae’s Restaurant within half a mile. Other restaurants close by. Staff is great.

Very good

cheap you can hear everyone i every room
- 5/5
The shared bathrooms worked out fine. There was a sink in our room, a fridge and microwave. The little desk had a mirror great for doing makeup. The hotel has its own parking.
- 3/5
The room did not look like what was advertised, I was not happy but I didn't want to ruin my trip so I just made the best of it...
- 4.5/5
Value. Clean. A little noisier than some hotels, but not too bad. And, they provided ear plugs.
- 4.5/5
The hotel is clean and located in a very safe area, no vagrants around. There's a bus to downtown Santa Monica right outside the door. Trader Joe's (supermarket) was an 8 minute walk. Staff were friendly and efficient. It was quiet. Bathroom is shared, but you get what you pay for - and the price is very affordable for L.A.. The mini-fridge in my room was spacious, and had a real freezer, which is a nice unexpected perk. I was able to keep ice-cream in it. The mattress was very good and comfortable to sleep on. The only real disadvantage is that there are no coffee or tea making facilities in the room, or in the hotel itself. I couldn't even use my BYO instant coffee, because there's no boiling water. The nearest cafe is ~7mins walk, but it only opens at 8am. If they added a vending machine for coffee it would have been awesome.
- 5/5
It was quiet and comfortable Na
- 5/5
No frills, but quiet, safe, and affordable. The front office staff was very helpful.

Superb
- 5/5
Location and price were a good match. The hotel had free parking and was close to other places without having to be in LA. Staff were friendly. The doors to the rooms were not really secure.
- 1.5/5
It's practically a hostel at a hotel price. The shared shower didn't have a lock; anyone could walk in while you were showering. There were only two shared bathrooms for the number of rooms, and nowhere to put your things while showering, so you had to leave them on the floor outside. The quality of the bed and towels was very poor and they were small. I'd prefer to go a little further away and find a proper hotel or pay a bit more somewhere else nearby.

Exceptional

At $166 the room felt very over-priced for what you get but I guess the cost is taking into account location as it's somewhat close to Santa Monica Beach (12 min drive, 1hr + walk). The guy at check in and the other guy at check out were both lovely, friendly and helpful. Bed sheets and room were clean. Room was felt like a fancy jail cell haha. There was a window - blinds the opened up onto a public seating area where I assume people were eating brekky. The shared bathroom has one hook next to the shower door, but doesnt have anywhere to put your stuff when you take a shower. Easiest to go in there with your towel and flip flops only and walk back to your room in your towel (which is a lil awkward of there's fellas in the corridor). At $166 it felt a pretty overpriced. I would've felt better about it paying $100 tops.

People should be aware that the shared bathrooms are not lockable at all. This was not made clear (not lockable) My daughters and wife did not feel safe with this. To make matters worse they would not refund us when we made this clear. Im pretty sure this is in violation of building code.

This is not a hotel. It is more like a hostel, no bathrooms in the room. It is shared bathrooms and showers.
- 5/5
I have a good sleep
- 4/5
This is a clean hotel located in a pretty quiet and peaceful neighbourhood. The rooms are clean and staff very helpful.
- 1/5
Terrible hotel, the room is small, the bed creaks very badly, you can hear your neighbors very well, also the shared toilet and shower are not intended for use at all, I give it 0 out of 10, the price is not cheap and the conditions are terrible
- 5/5
Parking was very convenient. Staff was nice. Great place to stay.

This property pleasantly surprised me, I was there solo traveling and it was my first time staying somewhere with a shared bathroom. The room has no AC but that didn’t matter to me as I had windows open and there’s a ceiling fan, there’s also a fridge, dresser, table and sink in the room. The area is perfect also, very safe you have cafes and dinner spots around the block, also located on a street that is a 10 min straight drive to Santa Monica beach.
- 5/5
Quit very clean excellent customer service and the surrounding areas are beautiful and very quiet high class thank you so much we will be back for sure
- 5/5
Best Bang for your Buck! I regularly stay here when in the area.
- 3/5
The staff were friendly helpful with directions and kind. It is close to everything and has bus service. Unfortunately they charge an unexpected deposit for incidentals we did not see coming and there was no microwave blow dryers or tv with all channels we had one channel. Overall we enjoyed the people of SOMA the smiles and helpful nature and kindness are appreciated. We also love the historical photos of rescues lifeguards and coast guard timeless. We appreciated the charger loan which we returned on the 24th.
- 3/5
2 star at best. Told by staff no bathrooms in rooms but not told one in hall not working. Noise really bad, asked guy to stop whistling and he said sure then kept on doing it. Think a curfew would be an improvement??
- 4/5
Great location, simple room, all you need to crash in. Clean sheets, shared bathroom was nice. Internet was great. Simple, easy and exactly what they sold it as.

- 5/5
A safe, clean bare bones, yet friendly inexpensive hotel recommended Great location
- 5/5
All was good especially the staff was very friendly and protective.
- 4/5
We needed a quick overnight place to stay in Santa Monica and the Ocean Park Hotel fit the bill. Beds were comfy, the shared bathroom is very convenient and clean , our room had its own sink and fridge, and check-in was super easy. The free parking was a plus too. If you're not hanging around your room and just looking for a great location in Santa Monica, this is a great option
- 3/5
Would've given the staff a higher star rating BUT towards the end of my stay... It simply got uncomfortable with one of the staff, In a way that felt unsafe. Other than that, not a bad place. Compared to a 5 star hotel... You can't fully let your guard down but it'll do for the time being... So to speak.
- 5/5
Cheap and clean
- 5/5
Great service
- 4/5
Staff was friendly and courteous.
- 2/5
The room itself was very basic, with minimal equipment and amenities. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
- 5/5
Parking was simple. Close to pretty much everything I needed. I was very satisfied with my stay.
- 5/5
Overall it was satisfactory. We had no issues and appreciate how they provided make up wipes, bar of soap, and ear protection. The bathrooms were clean, staff was nice, and available parking during our stay.
- 5/5
Room was fine. Staff friendly and responsive. The shared bathroom was new for me but worked fine. The free parking is a huge plus. It’s on the edge of a nice and quiet neighborhood. Within walking distance of a few restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay again
- 4/5
Clean comfy decent sized room. Clean bathrooms, excellent hot showers with strong water pressure (women’s bathroom on the second floor). It’s noisy yes, but they provide earplugs and it’s no worse than having housemates at home! I’ve stayed here twice and I would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Clean, comfortable, and one half mile from a gourmet food plaza and liquor store!
- 5/5
Clean room .. great staff
- 2/5
The person at the front desk was out for dinner (I suppose), and I had to wait 30 minutes to get my room.
- 5/5
Perf what i needed. Staff was A1
- 5/5
Good parking. Nothing much in the immediate area for late dinner options.
- 4/5
Good location, clean and quiet. Smallish room but OK for a few days.
- 5/5
Also, about 9 to 10 hours after checking out I realized I had left my car keys, called and confirmed they had them… (I value the honesty and professionalism they showed) Definitely recommend
- 2/5
Off the price has been $75/night it would be okay, but not more than $100.
- 4/5
Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I didn't realize because it doesn't specifically say when booking, that this is an overpriced hostel. You're sharing your bathroom and shower with everyone else on your floor. Had I seen that prior to booking, I would have found somewhere else. But I guess that is by design because most Americans are not accustomed to sharing personal spaces. Also, there is no air conditioning. Thankfully, they loaned us a box fan.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 1/5
Shared restrooms and small rooms
- 3/5
This is a basic kind of place one stays along their travels when they need a bed and a shower but don't want, to pay for a night at The W. The amenities here are few - it feels a little like a hotel/hostel hybrid - but at least there is free wi-fi, and free parking! The best part of my experience was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The concierge at the front desk was super helpful, and understanding of my needs and requests. I do not recommend Ocean Park Hotel for a romantic get-away, but for weary adventurers needing a place to lay their heads for a night or two, it is a good option.
- 4/5
I felt safe during my stay and the rooms were clean. The front reception staff was very helpful. Parking was easy and safe. My only concerns were: (1) lighting in the room was dim (not enough to read at night); (2) the floors creaked as people walked at night; and (3) several rooms had screens that were torn or bent/damaged. Overall, very good value compared to other options in the area.
- 5/5
I never stayed
- 3/5
Good price and decent.
- 1/5
Looked run down and not well maintained
- 3/5
The room was quaint and on the smaller side. No biggie since it was just me, but i do not suggest for families. My room had a sink only since the bathrooms are shared. The bathrooms are clean, but the showers did smell of mold. I wore my sandals! My room was not cleaned once despite having placed the "please tidy up" door hanger on my door. I asked the employee at the desk about this, and he said the housekeeper should have came and would let them know for the next day. Again, no one cleaned my room. I was there for 6 days. Overall, my stay was okay. Also, please keep in mind you can hear everything, and the rooms do not have air conditioners, only ceiling fans.
- 1/5
It is basically a hostel with shared bathroom
- 4/5
Good hotel for the price in a good area near beach!
- 4/5
Windows are broken in room 22. Doesn’t close fully
- 5/5
This is a no frills old school style hotel. You have to share a bathroom and shower with whatever floor you're on and it's a two-story hotel. There are separate showers and restroom accommodations for each men and women on each floor. The rooms do not have air conditioning but they do have a very nice fan and some rooms have a sink. Wi-Fi is free and decent and cable television have lots and lots of channels. The room I was in faced the parking lot so I was able to keep an eye on my vehicle and it was relatively quiet. This is kind of like an international hotel most of the guests are coming from Europe other places so if you're a Yankee it's pretty awesome to meet new people. The two people that I dealt with the day shift and the night shift or morning and evening were both amazing guys. Truly awesome great service. It's easy to doordash stuff if you need it there's a couple of really good places in the area and you're not all that far from the pier. The neighborhood is mostly residential and felt very very safe. During the day they'll be lots of dog walkers This is a nice place to be. I would recommend that you pack a pair of flip flops with you to make your shower experience better but the cleaning staff does a great job and honestly this is way cleaner than many places I've stayed. I definitely will come back if I'm in Santa Monica again.
- 5/5
The decoration was interesting and the rooms adequate. Even with showers/bathrooms in the corridor, we never had an issue even when the property was sold out. We realize that extensive maintenance and renovation was necessary to bring the rooms up to par. However, one of the only issue we noticed concerns the showers stalls. Tiling will definitely need to be restored before water seeps more into the walls and leaves purple streaks all over them. Also, it would be nice if the cleaning ladies didn't start making noise so early in the morning... :) In any case, we thank you for a very pleasant stay.
- 5/5
The staff have great attitudes and are very helpful.
- 4/5
Overall ok.Would stay again if needed.
- 5/5
Very clean and friendly staff. I didnt want a whole microwave for just one time so they were kind enough to let me use their breakroom. Perfect for my solo trip. If you're used to walking then everything was walking distance but even if you're not all forms of public transportation were basically right in front or like 2 blocks away. The shared bathrooms were always clean too
- 4/5
This property is probably cheap but the overall status of the room and amenities were good. The room had a pedestal sink and mirror , a mini fridge and microwave. The lighting would be better with a lamp as it was bright and overbearing. There was no remote for the tv so i had change it from the box. No ac unit in the room but was fine since it wasnt hot. The shared bathroom was fine but one of the showers, the pressure was extremely low. You can hear doors slamming throughout the night and people stomping around. Other than that, the stay was comfortable and the place seems well kept and clean. Staff was nice too
- 5/5
the staff greeted me and they are very friendly to us. They are very nice people.
- 3/5
I've seen bigger walk in closets. Read the fine print, no bathroom, you share toilets and showers. Looks like many homeless live there. First time I've ever seen earplugs issued upon check in.
- 4/5
good
- 3/5
Very good price for a small room but it smells really bad once you start taking a shower there was a smell coming from the drain very unpleasant
- 5/5
Great experience
- 1/5
Worst hotel ever and having shared restrooms.
- 5/5
Thumbs Up!
- 4/5
Nice place for a quick overnight. I wasn't looking for amenities and appreciated a place to rest after a long trip before my final leg home.
- 3/5
I like the area around the property, there was many restaurants and shops nearby in a clean neighborhood for a good price. The cleaning in the hotel was rare for our room even after letting the staff know that we needed cleaning.
- 3/5
This was the most I paid for a room in the last 4 nights of this trip and it was the worst experience. No hot water and no private bathroom!
- 4/5
We enjoyed it… one shower needs work
- 5/5
Best on a budget!
- 5/5
Great place to stay in the area
- 5/5
Great value at great price. We chose the room with private bathroom, comfortable bed and free parking. Will stay again if need to.
- 5/5
Another great stay!
- 5/5
Best on a budget! The area is VERY SAFE.
- 4/5
Ocean Park Hotel offers a highly reasonable room rate and is an excellent home base stay in Santa Monica due to its neighbourhood situated location and close proximity to transit, Venice Beach, and Santa Monica's snazzy waterfront area shopping district with impressive eateries, and park space located within a short walk to Pico Blvd and those that exist on Ocean Park Blvd itself. I wouldn't think twice about booking another stay upon next year's return, all my simple guest needs were met.

- 3/5
Very nice location a lot of good restaurants , short drive to Santa Monica Pier , big parking lot available ,service is excellent. Very nice people running the property. The only downside was you have to share the bathroom and the shower. Which I didn’t find any problem it was very clean .

The Budget King!
- 3/5
The room itself is clean, has everything you need, good value for price I would say. Budget friendly accommodation. The hotel staff were okay but could have been a bit more experienced! I think I payed more then I should of for my booking but because I was travelling solo and didn’t have much time I didn’t push it. The bathrooms were nice but I didn’t always feel safe there as there was weird people at the hotel at times.. Overall the stay was decent. I like that you can walk to Starbucks and a few other dining places just down the street. Hotel room just looked a tad bit better in the pictures than in real life! I’m from Canada btw.

Const: shared bathroom, noisy as you can hear traffics, the bed and chair is very basic and not comfy. Shared heather/AC. Recommendations: Upgrade window with dual pane to reduce noise, buy better mattress and chair.

My budget go to!

We stayed here on one of our days as we ventured down the southern coast. We travel often and usually scope out affordable hotels because we don’t tend to spend much of our time there. We only intend on sleeping there. We do understand “you get what you pay for” however, there are a few minimal things I think people should know. There is a deposit required at the time of stay. The sinks in the rooms were broken/ nonfunctional. We discovered this when we showed up to check-in and saw a large laminate sign. This tells me that the sinks have been nonfunctional for a while. I wish the office person would have disclosed this when I called to Inquire about a room. Lastly, the beds are not comfortable and they are very loud when you move/ readjust.
- 4/5
Overall it was clean well managed and check-in and check-out were pretty easy. nice staff too.
- 4/5
I booked for a place to get ready and rest my head for and after our company holiday party. The hotel close to our venue, just blocks away eateries and Rite-Aid for last minutes things I forgot. My only concern was that I could not turn on the ceiling fan and the lighting was very dim when I was putting my make up on. Other than that, I was very pleased.
- 5/5
The staff were so nice and helpful. The place in a nice and quiet neighborhood that is safe to walk around. There are so many things that are in walking distance. I really enjoyed staying there and enjoying will be back!
- 2/5
The building is old (and very charming) so inherently louder, but several nights people talked loud in the hall for long periods of time and smoked weed out on some stairs with the door to the hall open. A sign or two in the hall asking people to be quiet would probably help a bit. Overall, I thought the employees were nice, the facility was charming and cute but some serious issues made it seem like a flophouse instead of a budget hotel the week I was there. I do think I was there on a very bad week and most weeks would have been much better, but I think it was a poor value during my stays for the ressons given.
- 5/5
Budget perfection!
- 5/5
Clean room
- 5/5
Always excellent.
- 5/5
Quiet neighborhood. Everything clean. Excellent staff. Yep, I'm happy!
- 5/5
Is a very nice place
- 5/5
For a budget hotel, you get friendly checkin, safe environment, and cleanliness. Just remember most rooms have shared bathrooms so bring your slippers.
- 5/5
Simple, convenient and affordable!
