Me my family and friends have made this hotel our 1st choice when traveling to Santa Cruz, you can’t beat the price and conveniently close to board walk. And the staff is great.

Lousy service, limited parking, no room service unless requested & no notice that you needed to do so.

We thought this was a very nice place to stay. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are very nice and the pool is heated which is nice after a long day at the boardwalk which is only maybe a 5 min walk away. The cons- it's a bit noisy. Which didn't bother us but I can see how it might bother some. There's no elevator so be prepared for that with bahs. Parking. They will give you a permit to park in the area whoch is awesome! Just make a ure someone stays in the car while you check in so you dont get a ticket like we did Overall, we'd definitely stay here again!

Great location. Parking is available but limited and the room is clean. Only complaint is the curtains are to short and don’t close Al the way so at night if lights are on you can see inside the room

Cute little hotel, nice suite, the bed in our room was not great arrive early to guarantee an on site parking spot.

We enjoyed very much of our 2 nights stay at this place. Staff were very polite and helpful, we arrived about 2 hrs earlier than expected for check-in, and still were able to get a room. The room was perfect for us, with a small area inside that we can park our three bikes. We walked about 12 minutes to Broadwalk and wharf.

Front office man was very rude. We asked for a room on the first floor and he said one was available, but he gave us a second floor room. When we questioned it he got mad. Our room looked “renovated” but no counter space in the bathroom or racks. I wouldn’t stay here again. There’s a lot of other hotels to choose from.

First-CLEAN…but…awful beds, no blinds on a window, no hand towels or wash cloths…looks like it was recently rehabbed, and it was clean…but man, don’t get the cheapest mattress and call it nice…ugh awful night of sleep…

The salt air lodge is strikingly clean, very modern and exquisitely located. The service is wonderful. The management proactively called me several times regarding the logistics of extending my stay, and their friendliness is extraordinary.

The location was a five minute walk to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The bathroom glass walk in shower was my favorite feature. Although the room was extremely small it was very clean and comfy bed! I would stay here again next time I visit Santa Cruz!!

Rooms were clean, staff friendly.

I asked for a credit for the inconvenience and was told twice that the owner would contact me in 5-7 days. After two weeks, no reply. With all the other similar hotels in the same neighborhood I would NOT recommend this one for the poor service.

To start with the curtains are too narrow thus do not provide any privacy from persons walking by. We walked around with the lights off in the evening, although that did not help given the outdoor lights glared through the window. The surrounds are noisy, the ac/heater is EXTREMELY loud, and you will likely be awake anyway as you monitor the safety of your vehicle. Window has no lock or screen on it. The room was oddly cold, maybe due to lack of window furnishings. The shower drain had someone else’s hair still in it, and the floor generally looked unswept given there were many long black hairs (I have short hair). What was worse, was that the shower appears incorrectly installed to drain water (plus no ledge separation between floor and shower), so the bathroom floor is flooded and you are left wading around in a strangers hair. Shower control has been installed backwards so do not scald yourself! The owner was not interested when reported the issues, he instead mumbled blaming everyone other than himself as owner. Room had some basic comforts, bed comfort was fine.

My stay was GREAT! Our two bedroom suite was exactly what I needed for my family & extended family. My suite was clean and well stocked. I have two issues that should be addressed ASAP. 1: more mirrors! 2: wall hooks to hang clothes.

It was nicely renovated room. The bed was comfortable. Walking distance from a lot of attractions. The pool picture was nicer than the real one...

Hotel was nice, beds could be better. The neighbors were very load at night but other than that it was nice. Perfect location about a 5 minute walk to the boardwalk.

If you need to stay for a night or two. Than this is the place to stay at.

They just renovate everything look new, room is too small. Air conditioning is too lound when it run. Wake me up every 15 minutes. Sink is too small , no space to put the toilets stuff.

Room was very clean. My only complaint was that there was no coffee maker in the room or coffee available in the office.

Typical “motel” property in Santa Cruz. Run down and no frills. But clean and a comfortable bed in a great location near boardwalk.

the owner is very pleasant and freindly, very nice, and very easy to check in. the owner gave us a bottle of wine. the place is very clean, I would recommend to all of my freinds. right now they dont have coffee bcause it still under construction. and the owner still waiting for his permit to serve beverages. I will definitely be going back into that place. the only thing needs is to make the sink little bit bigger. that's all. other thant that, everything are nice and very close to the beach.I love the place. I will give them five stars and my hsband and I will go back the place again..

Great service, room spotless clean.

I was really happy with my stay here. The property manager was very kind and check-in was easy and convenient. My room was very clean and much nicer looking from the interior than you would guess from the outside. The location was amazing. Walking distance to the beach, boardwalk, and wharf, as well as to downtown restaurants and bars. I was able to leave my car in the parking lot and just walk to wherever I wanted to go. Would stay here again.

There's a good chance you won't get to park in the parking lot. When we arrived it was full. We were given a parking permit and a dedicated spot. We could see the back part of our car from our room window if we stuck our head out of the window. The faucet in the bathroom only had scalding hot water the whole time so we had to use the shower to wash our hands or face. There aren't any windows in the separate rooms and only a thin sheet and thin fuzzy blanket. No extra pillows. Pre-packaged soap, lotion, shampoo. Super thin towels. No decorations, lamps (only bright overhead lighting). The beds weren't very comfy and our loud neighbor decided it was ok to party with their door open. It is updated and probably less than a 5 minutes walk to the Boardwalk, but we probably wouldn't stay here again.

This is like an old style motel. Location is great but seems expensive for what it is.

Room was nice, bed comfortable (bring blankets they do not provide any except a thin sheet) they have ac and heat . Nice pool. Our TV didn't work in the living room of our room. Walking distance to board walk 3-5min . Owner was accommodating with early check in . And let my family set up a surprise in the room before we arrived which was awesome!! There are fridges and microwave which was awesome with the kids !! I will definitely be back !!

The microwave was not able to be plugged in on the worktop, this had to be put on the floor to be used. Also the fridge & air on was very noisy!

The rooms are all remodeled and clean. The staff is nice and make you feel safe. Parking is sparse but they get you a pass for street parking. I’ve stayed in Santa Cruz a multitude of times. Many places are disgusting for a fortune. My girls were very fortunate to find this place and to feel safe at this place. It is right at the boardwalk. If you have young adults that want to go have fun and you don’t want to worry constantly if they are ok then this is a good place.

The place looks better in pictures. Definitely outdated outside and needs work. Room inside was updated and clean. We were there for a Friday night and there was a lot of late night foot traffic and people being very loud, up to 4 in the morning.

We had a great stay, wished we had booked more days of our trip here! You can tell that they are in the middle of improvements, our room was very new and clean, and with a really nice bathroom! Only downside was that the bed lights was not installed yet so we only had one ceiling light in the main room. Not a dealbreaker. Staff vas friendly and accommodating. Amazing location, close to boardwalk and restaurants.

Very clean and friendly staff

We liked that we could walk to the boardwalk and the little stores in the neighborhood were convenient. The parking was sparse and difficult to park if you came home late. The room was renovated and everything new but there was no iron/ironing board, Coffee maker, closet, tv kind of small for the room. Oh and the cleaning crew left our door open after they cleaned! We got home around 10 pm from the boardwalk and the door was unlocked, you could easily push it open.

The inside of the room was very nice, but the outside was rough.

Best location! Very clean and trendy renovated rooms. Loved that ours has a separate room for the kids and they has their own TV and AC. Bathroom is very spacious. Check in very smooth and fast. Only two things that should of been better would be a firmer mattress and cleaner pool area. I recommend and would certainly stay here again!

Appeared to be under construction and not enough parking spaces. King bed VERY soft and lumpy.
