I want to give a shout out to the employee that works there. He was the one that checked me in his name was Jose. He was very welcoming and very upbeat attitude. Front desk is the first people you see as you walk in so you always want to be greeted and welcomed and that’s exactly what he did

Didn’t know that Ice is only on the 2nd floor and wasn’t told at the check in until searching during the evening. Parking was safe, but did cost $25 and wasn’t listed online or else could have considered that price with other hotels. Overall the staff was nice and attentive. I’d stay there again.

Safe under ground parking although not included with price.$ 25 extra. Stayed on first floor with pool access for teens. Beds were comfy, bathroom with enough room for 2 to get ready. Breakfast was wonderful with same choices of eggs, bacon, muffins , toast, bagels. make your own waffles. Mini yoplait yogurt cups, granola, fruit and almond milk. Juice and coffee available. Teens were happy and full. Would stay again. Only issue was my wifi access and getting my membership access. Some reason kept getting blocked.

The breakfasts were great! Good selection. The hand pump creamer should be replaced by the little cups of different flavors, vanilla, hazelnut, plain. The whole place was clean smelled so fresh in hall ways and rooms. Parking space sizes could be a bit wider.

This was a surprisingly, very nice hotel for the area. However, I did learn on this visit that the area has improved a lot.

First night 11:00pm right outside our room next to the fire pit was a group of people being very loud. They eventually left but returned at 3am to be even louder. (Staff was notified both times) Second night: Elevator broke so that left us having to go up and down stairs with kids and all of our beach gear. Third night: wanted to enjoy the fire pit myself but there was zero propane. Went to let the front desk know and they had zero access to full tanks and said it was the maintenance persons fault for not checking the tank.I don’t understand why the front desk has no access to spare full tanks. The pros of this hotel is it’s clean. The pool is only 3 feet deep so it’s nice to relax, and the breakfast they offer is great. The parking is also safe and locked with access to an elevator to make things easy to unload/load your vehicle.

This hotel is a 10 out of 10! The room was immaculate and the shower had a massage ! The bed was amazingly comfortable and everything was like new ! The Mgr was great and they even gave us breakfast for free ! Only a block from the beach ! Would definitely come back again !

The location is another big plus since it’s really close to the beach and boardwalk. The only downside is that the walls are a little thin, so you may hear people in the next room. Other than that, this hotel was clean, comfortable, and worth the stay. I would definitely stay here again!

Couple getaway. The boardwalk is 6 minute walk. Walls are very thin you can hear walking and conversations in room next door. Stayed in room 219. Will return again.

The hotel and room looks new and well maintained. I like the contemporary design. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. It is our anniversary and we got upgraded to suite! The breakfast is good also. Also just 2 blocks away from boardwalk, very convenient location. We had a relaxing stay. Highly recommended.

Amazon staff and so clean

Was floating around the Monterey Bay area and landed in Santa Cruz after a day of traveling. Booked here on impulse and it was fine value for the price. Staff was friendly and the location is solid - just a couple blocks off of the beach with street parking in the vicinity. Very safe feeling neighborhood. Some portions of the street are restricted to permit parking - so check carefully. They do offer onsite parking, but I opted to pay the meter during operating hours and saved ten bucks. Facility was clean and the breakfast was way above par here! Appreciated leaving on a full stomach and ready for another day of hiking. Some of the other guests were on the loud side of things - and this must be a perennial issue as we observed an 8.5 x 11 memo in the entry warning guests of nuisance noise charges potentially up to $150. A bit annoying since this night was a rest night on our trip. There's also a nuisance technology issue - iPhone can not connect to the TVs if you want to stream some form of entertainment, unless you travel with some sort of HDMI dongle, count on sitting with some basic cable option for entertainment. Rooms are sort of sparsely decorated but at least they have ample space, and it doesn't feel claustrophobic. All in all, a fairly average experience here. If I could do it over, I'd probably just spend the extra forty or fifty bucks to book at the La Bahia or Marea Sol hotels on the main drag.

Staff was friendly. Breakfast only goes until nine. Underground parking lot, more difficult for larger vehicles. And the beds were a little to hard for us.

This hotel has a great location to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. It is a beautiful new building, clean, secured parking garage, decent breakfast, and spacious rooms. Unfortunately we encountered a few problems during our stay which was disappointing given the price for our room. We reserved a 2 queen + sofa bed for our family of four. The beds did not seem like queen size beds, more like doubles. The sofa bed was broken - one section wouldn't lock in place, so there was a valley then the end angled upwards. Blankets and linens for the sofa bed were not in the room. We tried calling the front desk @ 10pm but no one answered the phone. I went down to the lobby, and a sign at the desk said the employee was on a 15 minute break. When he returned, he gave me and another guest (with the same issue) the requested linens. The outlets on the nightstand didn't work for my husband's CPAP machine. Again, disappointing hassles for an expensive night's stay.

This place was great and really close to the wharf and boardwalk, the service was great private parking was great but it was at a cost of $25.00 and you had to park yourself there was no valet parking. Either way the place is nice and their complimentary breakfast was very good and the staff handling it ,were very professional . Looking forward to staying there again. Five Stars

We had a nice view from the room, the towels had hair stuck in the towels from previous visitors I'm assuming, the room we had, had a dent/whole in the wall, had to call the front office right away to make sure we weren't going to be charged for that. There was flying bugs in the room and bathroom, you can hear people in the next room over thin walls. The staff was really good. But I personally would probably get a different suite next time just to be more comfortable

Parking was easy. The breakfast was fresh and good. I appreciate that they have a quiet after 10 PM policy and will charge people extra if they violate it. And the front desk guy was awesome.

This was our first time staying here and it was nice to be close to the Boardwalk, and the Wharf, but the beds were way to hard, not comfortable.

The property has many problems, like limited space for breakfast, the continental breakfast was not real, and the food is ok. The property is understaffed, it's just one person at the front, who cannot help you with anything. AC was weird does not really do the cooling. Compare to money I don't think its a good choice.

Great hotel to stay if you want to be close to the Boardwalk. Second time staying here and our girls loved it! Breakfast included is always good to have when you travel with kids.

One minor issue was that a $100 security deposit was charged without prior notice, which would have been helpful to know in advance.

Wonderful location, within close walking distance from the boardwalk! The suite was awesome & there’s parking too! The staff were super nice, helpful and provided awesome customer service! This is the second time visiting and we will definitely be back! We love this place!

Also, I didn’t agree with the extra parking fee. In a place like Santa Cruz where parking is limited, it feels unnecessary to charge guests for parking when the hotel already has its own spaces. It would make more sense to include it in the room rate.

i booked 3 rooms for a weekend stay, for some reason foom 110 the alarms kept going off periodically, i mentioned it to a young woman at the front desk in hopes of them switching us rooms or at least have someone check it out. sadly all she said was thank you for mentioning it and then turned around……. kids loved the pool area.

Proximity to the main attractions such as the boardwalk and west cliff drive area. There’s hot food offered every day included in our stay but it’s the same everyday (sausage,eggs and bacon). It would have been better if it’s different everyday. Room is spacious. They could have placed a small table on the corner.

Electric chargers in garage didn’t works. Neither did a couple of the outlets by the bed. Can’t access anything like Netflix or movies on tv so that was frustrating if you have kids at all.

There were hardly any cars nor people at the property, according to travel websites numerous rooms were available, however we were refused an earlier check-in by a front desk personnel.

The room was nice, clean. The staff was nice. There is no parking near the hotel and they charge $25 to park in their parking garage which is under the hotel. The ocean is a couple blocks away and was an easy walk. I had requested an ocean view and you could partially see the ocean through the houses below.

Hotel is very clean and updated. Room was nice and quiet. The only downside is that you have to pay $25 dollars additional for parking in the garage on the property. Hotel was about $150 dollars a night so why am I paying for parking.

The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and towels were nice. Newer hotel so definitely some noise transfer especially in the morning with doors opening and closing. They could solve this by adjusting the pneumatic arms on the doors. I did not like the pillows. There were 6 of them and they were all the same. Might be better to have some variety.

The room was clean and well-kept. It is in a great location. The lights in the room automatically turn off, which makes it difficult to read. The TV did not offer many channels and was not connected to the internet. We were not able to watch any movies. Other than that, a convenient indoor parking garage is available for only 25$ a night.Overall descent place to stay, I will definitely come back.

It’s a beautiful hotel. So clean everywhere. They have a patio off of the second floor that has a fire pit, couches and chairs to just sit and relax. It’s absolutely wonderful!

The room smells funny. It’s like someone had smoked ham plus chemicals. We didn’t get to eat breakfast because I was told breakfast was from 7-10:00am. When we went down at 9:30, they said no, breakfast was over at 9:00 on weekdays. Oh well. Other than that, the staffs were nice.

First, this room with two queen beds & a pull-out couch was insanely expensive at $400 a night for a fairly small room. They actually charge another $25 a night for parking, which adds insult to injury. They add another $100 as an "incidental" charge too, which allegedly comes off the bill a few days after your stay if you didn't partake of incidentals. Second, the pull-out couch was only slightly more comfortable than sleeping on the floor. Their was a stain on the couch itself & the mattress was a thin as a pancake. It squeaked loudly when you moved and it bowed in the middle. Third, there was almost no amenities in the room or lobby - no coffee & cookies/fruit for guests in the lobby (like Fairfield Inn), no napkins or extra toilet paper in the room, and no extra blankets & pillows. There were no brochures or magazines about the area. No description in room about TV stations & available movies. After multiple requests, we waited almost an hour for housekeeping to bring us sheets & blanket to make up the couch bed. Fourth, while the breakfast selection was decent, it was crowded on the weekend without enough seating for everyone. The breakfast room was actually the lobby itself. People were actually trying to make more setting on the couches and pulling up side tables. Fifth, the staff in the lobby were not particularly friendly, helpful or informative. The few positives - it was quiet, has a small pool & balcony, and is walking distance to the boardwalk.

It was a lovely property and I really enjoyed my room. I did think that more than doubling the price for Friday night stay was ridiculous. Breakfast was decent but very crowded in a small space. It was nice to have a dining area, but that was also very chilly.

We had a really nice stay. I reserved a partial ocean view room… the room we were given was ocean facing. :/ the facing direction with buildings in front, ocean could not be seen from the second floor. I think they could’ve done better or at least make their description accurate.

Clean rooms, 3 minute walk to boardwalk. Breakfast was satiating. Facility in good condition, water refill station. For a balcony you need to book with partial ocean view or better. Parking spaces in the garage were very tight. Staff was quiet, not the friendliest but not put you off either.I would recommend this hotel.

It was over a week ago, so I don't really remember, other than it was clean and comfortable.

Very close to the Pier and beach, and it was so clean! Breakfast was great also. I'll be back Daughter, just move to UCSC. This will be our place to stay every so often to see her.

The only cons are that elevator was out of service and the poor sound proof system in the room. People next door to us were loud at night and could hear everything through the paper thin walls. Unfortunately I couldn’t sleep the two nights I stayed there.

Everything about the property was awesome. Very clean and well kept. The only downside was it was difficult finding parking due to very minimal amounts of spots and people taking up 2 parking spots. A majority of it was for compact vehicles. We kinda had to make our own parking in the garage where there was available space. Other than that, we enjoyed ourselves a lot.

Access to hotel was not convenient and I found it challenging to find entrance. Driveway was small and congested. Service was friendly and accommodating. The room was huge and we had a balcony over looking the pool. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well The only downside was the front of house/ welcome / support from the staff . They were quite abrupt and didn’t seem too friendly . When I asked if I could have a little more time to check out in the morning, I got a straight no.! Not even 30 minutes which I thought was a little unreasonable. Appreciate those rooms need to turned around but surely 30 mins would be ok. There is also a way to say no to customers and the person who I spoke to had no customer facing ability at all hence I’ve scored it down otherwise I would’ve given it a 10 out of 10.

This hotel is in a GREAT location. The property is new, well-maintained and very clean and comfortable. The Front Desk staff, especially Jose, are great!

Everything was good. The only thing that was unfortunate was the loud guests in the other rooms. Past 10:30pm on a sat night. Loud noises from neighbors above and kn halfway.

One of the double beds in our room was broken. The staff was friendly and courteous.

The hotel is in an excellent location, the breakfast was good. The breakfast had warm foods such as eggs, bacon, turkey, sausage, make yourself, waffles, eat your own bagels. It also had cereal, make your own oatmeal, 24 Hours, coffee and water. Very clean and organized. Room was spacious.

Beds were comfortable and liked there was plenty of breakfast options. Plus it was so close to the boardwalk.

The breakfast was solid. The precheck in emails they send you are nonsense. They will still need you to do all of it when you check in so don't bother. They sent me an email saying the room was ready, I get there and it's not ready. I had to wait 40 minutes once I got there so the room could be cleaned. Not sure why they would send me an email saying that the room was ready when it wasn't. They comped the parking which was nice.

3 minutes from the beach, board walk and restaurants close by

The girl who checked us in, did not tell us that breakfast ended at nine so when we walked down at 9:15, we did not get our breakfast that was included. Also, I asked for the pullout couch to be made or blankets to be put in the room and they were not upon arrival so I had to walk down and interrupt the man at the front desk who is on his 15 minute lunch to give us blankets because we wanted to go to bed. He seemed very annoyed and wasn’t the friendliest.

Ocean view, steps from the pier and boardwalk. They allowed us to leave our car in the hotel garage for the day after we checked out. Very kind!

Great location. Far enough to have a little space during summertime break but close enough to have a pleasant walk to beach, wharf, and boardwalk. The hotel room was spacious with a balcony. The beds where no bad, pillows where lumpy which is not comfortable and cringing to look at. All the staff i encountered were helpful and fun to talk with.

This hotel was perfect for us. Great location, walkable to the boardwalk. Upon check-in we were upgraded to a room with 2 beds and a couch bed (bonus for my teen boys not to have to share a Queen bed!). The girls at check-in were super friendly and helped us accommodate parking for our sprinter van that was too tall for the parking garage. The hotel looks freshly remodeled and is very clean. Free breakfast in the morning with waffles, eggs, bacon and sausage was a big plus. A great value for a great hotel!

Room was sparce, spacious but no furnishings to fill the space, 1 chair but room for a couch and coffee table, which were not there.

We were upgraded to a larger room which was great. The room was clean and comfortable, although the carpet was a bit worn. Breakfast could have had more options.

The location is great. Walkable to the beach, wharf and boardwalk. Breakfast is good. The pool was very disappointing, extremely small and only 3ft deep.6 children inside the pool was already to many people.parking garage very tight, if you have a big vehicle good luck. We had a an F250 and very very tight. Family hotel, if you have floors above you be ready to hear kids running and dropping things above. A non smoking property.

The staff at this hotel is beyond excellent! There to help you for anything you need, the rooms were spotless and smelled amazing! The buffet is excellent! The location is perfect. I will not stay anywhere else when I visit Santa Cruz in the future.

I didn’t like having to pay $25 for parking. I also didn’t like listening to people walking on the floor above me late at night. The breakfast was ok, staff were ok. Overall disappointed by my stay at La Quinta. I’m usually a big fan.

Everything was good but a strange experience with people. A young girl jumped the fence and barged into our room only to embarrass herself “oops wrong room” 😆Someone overhead was quite loud doing a lot of jumping until about 12:30. We told the staff the next day and they gave us the parking for free which is 25$ so we are ok. Next time I would stay on the top floor😀

Good for a price

Good location near the beach and boardwalk. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Daily parking charge seemed a bit high, but maybe commensurate with being located near the beach and boardwalk - though I had assumed that was in the daily rate. Overall, quite pleased with my stay.

But get used to small things. VERY small pool. And the smallest/tightest parking spaces I've ever seen. It's a challenged to find a spot in the garage...especially when people park over the lines. The rooms along the back of the property have a view of a wall...so that was a huge disappointment. We asked to change and they didn't have anything available. So when you book, ask for a room at the FRONT of the property. But also keep in mind that 4 rooms on the first floor facing the front are essentially connected to the pool. The free breakfast is convenient...especially for families with kids. But the food is tough to eat...typical of hotel breakfasts like this. Stick with the toast, cereal and waffles and you'll be fine. It's incredibly convenient to the beach and boardwalk. Would I stay here again? Yes...but only if it's a 2nd floor front-facing room. And I rent a Smartcar so I am guaranteed a parking space.

Nice and clean. Newer property. Mickey at the service desk was kind and helpful. Breakfast was just ok. We got upgraded. An easy walk to the Boardwalk and pier. Beds are comfortable. Nice ocean views on the balcony. Mickey at front desk was accommodating when asked for more blankets.

When we checked in we weren’t sure we were going to be able to check in early (something that I requested & paid an extra $20 for). When we got there it was 2pm on a Saturday afternoon, a woman by the name of Alondra was at the front desk. She was very respectful & pleasant. She let me know that there were no rooms available at the time. She told me that we were welcome to unload our luggage & sit in the lobby, park our vehicle in the garage (she gave us a permit, then noticed that I requested ADA parking, & told me that she wasn’t sure what the parking situation was but that we could park on the metered parking around the hotel for free because the hotel charged $20 to park) & relax at the libby. We asked if our 2 grandchildren (4 & 5 yrs old) could use the pool. She was more than accommodating! She gave my son a temp key & told him that they were more than welcome to enjoy the pool!! My husband & I in the meantime unloaded, he parked our vehicle & we relaxed watching tv in the lobby. Not more than 15 minutes went by & Allondra notified us that our room was ready. After relaxing in our room, we decided to walk to the beach & leave our vehicle parked in its ADA spot (it was the last one by the elevator before the EV vehicle parking spot. When we got back, we wanted to load everything we used at the beach back into our vehicle. By this time there was another SUV PARKED next to us on the passenger side. That spot was a no parking spot. It’s used by people with disabilities who.

Highly recommended place to stay for family with kids: clean, safe hotel rooms with shallow pool for kids, walking distance to the beach and amusement park Boardwalk. Free breakfast is included. Parking garage is available ( with $25 per night ).

I have never stayed at a La Quinta hotel before and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and comfort. Santa Cruz is a beautiful town and hotels run the gamut in price and quality. La Quinta did not disappoint.

Walking distance to the boardwalk. Buy parking at the inn to save $35 parking pass.

Staff was very unprofessional, delt with 3 different people and they all made the check in process very uncomfortable and very difficult. Hotel was very nice but the staff was very unprofessional and made what should have been a great stay a terrible experience.
