Very clean, newly remodeled. The continental breakfast was great! Highly recommend, only 10 minutes from the boardwalk by car and a 20 minute walk.

Clean. Nice room (except for handicap bathroom) The shower for wheelchair accessible was laid out wrong. Impossible to shower without assistance. The controls were so far from the bench they could not be reached. Also the door in both rooms I booked was extremely difficult to open. Very heavy. It needs adjustment.

Parking garage is a bit built weird. Some parking spaces had the actual column within the space. Some huge spaces are marked compact. And driving around garage had weird turns. One of the elevators shakes a bit, that’s why I’m thinking building was remodeled, vs. newly built. It shakes while closing and makes this loud noise. Breakfast is the only thing I was hoping for better. The ‘hot’ foods were actually cold. Coffee tastes very watered down. The sausage/turkey sausage has a weird taste to it. I’m guessing it was all frozen items (which is ok), but not heated up enough. And after heated, it wasn’t kept warm enough on serving to table. Otherwise, it was a really nice stay. The kids were really looking forward to breakfast. They loved the pool!

The smoke detector in our room was covered over with a plastic bag?, and the desk light didn't work. Had to call for a TV remote... Breakfast was OK, but the waffle machine was dead.

This property is currently under renovation so there are some spaces that are torn up, other than that, This Holiday Inn Express is a very good hotel. If your just passing through its got lots of useful local amenities nearby

The breakfast was decent—nothing exceptional, but it did the job and had enough variety to start the day. There were a couple of downsides, though. The vending machine was not working properly and did not refund my money, which was frustrating. Additionally, the bathroom sink in my room was clogged, which was inconvenient and should have been addressed before check-in. Overall, the stay was okay, but addressing maintenance issues and the vending machine problem would improve the experience significantly. Parking is provided with an additional $20 charge.

Very clean and updated accommodations. I had read that they were renovating recently, and it almost felt like a brand-new hotel! Great location; convenient underground parking (for a fee) with elevator to all floors. Highly recommend this hotel.

I got into the hotel a little early, but the staff was able to accommodate me swifty with no problems.

No water bottles provided. Was charged $20 for parking even though when I booked it said free parking. Also very loud you can hear every time someone opened their door and slammed shut. Very thin walls. Overall I would not stay here again. Staff was nice.

Very modern room with clean bathroom and lots of amenities. Breakfast was very good. Staff was welcoming too. Will stay here next time I visit .

I asked specifically for poly pillows in my room since I’m allergic to feathers and yep— there were feather pillows on the bed. These may be little’ things, but why ask if there are needs in advance that aren’t followed? And why place me directly next to a noisier area? I find it hard to believe that the workers and front desk doesn’t know which rooms are quietest. Very disappointing!

I was not impressed with the breakfast choices. It was carb/sugar loaded options only somewhat healthy option was oatmeal but it was watery. Shower pressure was low so that was annoying as well. When I went to check out a little after 10:30 there was no staff at the front desk.

I called in advance and asked if the electric vehicle charging was complementary and was told that it was. When I arrived to check in, having prepaid, I was told that I’d have to pay a $15 per day parking fee to access the charger. The manager refused to waive the fee and became quite condescending by telling me that I didn’t understand the difference between charging and Parking otherwise, the room is typical of the Holiday Inn express.

Loved our stay , we stay at this hotel everytime we come to Santa Cruz . The breakfast is amazing . Waffles . Eggs. Cinnamon rolls . Cereal bagels fruit yogurt ect . Juice .coffee .hot coco . All day infused water , coffee and hot coco

Room/Suite was very large and comfortable. Even though we were facing the street we couldn't hear any street noise. The breakfast buffet was more than adequate and tasty. Several hot items in the buffet were a plus. The desk staff was very friendly and allowed us to check in early. If I had a complaint, we had a pretty worn couch/sleeper in our suite (room 200) that wasn't completely closed and there was a huge tear in the armrest. I know the property is going through renovations at this time, so we were willing to overlook this problem with our room. Other than that, it was a lovely overnight stay.

Vending machines were very poorly maintained, few if any prices shown & mostly empty. This hotel was undergoing renovation work which I don't feel was communicated at booking. Breakfast was typical fare & pretty good but hot items not kept warm enough.

The elevators were dirty. They appeared to have dirt and debris from weeks or months ago built up at the edges of the floor. The tops of the furniture were sticky in my room. The . Staff were friendly and informed. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was ok. The potato’s were gone before 730. I don’t know if the pan was restocked. The pancake maker wasn’t working.

The property was clean and well kept, the beds were so comfy, we were comfortable the entire time! Staff was awesome when we needed them, the showers had great water pressure and came with complimentary dove shower products. The breakfast was great, made the start to our day that much better! Definitely will make this specific location a staple in our future travels

The credit card reader was broken when we arrived, so we spent about 20 minutes trying to give our card for incidentals. Pillows were very flat and bed was noisy. We were given additional pillows, but the soft fluffy ones should have already been on the beds! Finally, I drive a full size truck. I did not fit in any of the parking spots and had to find road parking. The front desk was sympathetic, but this was inconvenient.

Our stay here was good. The staff was bery friendly. The breakfast was good and we especially liked the numerous options like oatmeal yogurt and almond milk in addition to the traditional items. We loved the dove nayh products provided. The air conditioner worked well. The room was clean. The only real negatives were the beds not being super comfortable and the tub mot draining well

Parking in underground garage is horrible, unless you drive a motorcycle or very small car. Asked for room to be cleaned after first day and that was ignored. Had to go to the front desk at 11 pm to ask for clean towels. For the price we paid per night, I don’t feel it was worth it.

Hotel staff did absolutely nothing about the 10 yr old children running thru the halls and slamming doors from room to room at 11:30pm to 1am in the morning. They weren’t even sure if the kids had parents around. Totally unacceptable.

The breakfast wasn’t the best i’ve ever had. The eggs tastes like plastic and the sausages were gross. There aren’t many options either. The hotel was very nice with a nice small pool. No hot tub which was fine. It’s pretty far from the beach too. The surrounding area had a homeless problem and there were some individuals that were definitely on something. Nice hotel though!

Room was fine, minus black mold in bathroom. The room above us had a child that kept bouncing a ball till very late at night. Breakfast was a joke it was over crowd ppl were rude couldn’t even get in ppl were hoarding tables. Also wifi wasn’t working. I was told by staff that they had a full house, and it was probably slow to keep trying.

The staff were very welcoming and accomodating. Every staff member we saw was busily working and friendly. The interior is showing it's age: carpet is bunching, room smelled moldy/musty, shower tub was quite warn down.

We came on a Saturday and the price did not reflect the hotel. Our bathroom was a bit run down—but clean. Breakfast was good. Staff saw us struggling with bags and jumped in to help. Biggest complaint was parking. Huge pillars intruded on spaces. When we returned after dinner only parking spaces with pillars were available. Everyone was circling like sharks. We had to unload, fold in mirrors and be guided inch by inch to get into our car—Subaru Ascent (not a huge vehicle). We had to do the reverse upon leaving. Never have I seen such tight spaces. And…we were charged $10 to park like this! My mom was in a walker and my daughter was with us with our grandson and stroller. Not fun

Nice hotel in center of the city surrounded by good eateries and all city attractions closeby . The Santa Cruz boardwalk is close and the hotel rooms were very comfortable and spacious for a family stay . Highly recommend the hotel .

We found multiple hairs in our towels, bed, and around our suite. We also felt like the room was not cleaned properly. The staff was very nice and did try to help with the issues we encountered. The continental breakfast was good, but our issue was that both mornings more than half of the food trays were empty. Some did not get replenished at all, and the time the breakfast ended was inconvenient.

The King bed was so old and worn that it was too soft and mushy to sleep on. They were very responsive and gave us another room that had a nice mattress.

One person when checking in, can't get to lobby with elevator without checking in first, and since the garage is underground you have to take stairs. A car that's not an SUV or truck will scrape driving out of garage. Queen beds advertised but beds are smaller, and they have a noise cut off time but you can hear doors slamming and noises all night, especially outside where we were put, there's a shed below and you can hear it all night. Rooms get warm at night. Also $200 deposit taken at check in, still waiting for it to be returned.

Upgraded to a suite with extra sofa bed, the room was very spacious and loved the layout. I stayed in room 206 away from people since I had young children and they can sometimes be a little noisy. Only thing we didn’t like was that it had two tvs, one had local channels the other dish channels. Would have preferred to be underaged to watch our favorite apps like Netflix, or Disney +. Pool was ok, breakfast was standard, and a few walking distance restaurants. Parking was an extra fee and very tight spaces had some difficulty unbuckling car seats since there was not a lot of room in between cars but manageable. Will stay again.

Property was older, and the parking spots were extremely narrow – every single one of them and we had to pay for parking also not in the greatest neighborhood, especially if you try to grab McDonald’s after 10 there are people on drugs inside the restaurant and in the parking lot and in the way of even getting your food yet, the employees did nothing about it.

We were pleased with the room, staff, location, and facility. The only thing that was lacking was the breakfast. It was not what we had expected. After the first morning, we chose to eat in our rooms.

The hotel was full of construction workers who were staying there, which is not a problem until there is not enough food for the remaining guests. The bacon, sausages and eggs disappeared as soon as they were brought out. The pool was not warm although the staff assured us it was heated. Rooms were small but overall clean.

Service was outstanding, staff was excellent, weight. Staff in dining room was very good. I understand the hotel changed owners recently. Upgrades they need in the room I was in the shower surround needs to be replaced. The bed was too soft, the bottom fitted sheet is the wrong size for the mattress. It does not stay, smooth and sleek. I didn’t appreciate the nightly rate and felt it was exorbitant. I do understand it was graduation week. I would like to know if the rate would have been different had I booked directly with the hotel. The person who made my reservation used hotels.com.
