Lovely pool area - this is what makes the place a good spot. Check in was not great, no rooms ready, also guests being told they could not have a third bed in the room even though that is what they had reserved - awkward! Spent $50 for 2 drinks & a snack in the bar while waiting (past check in time) for room to be ready. Received a text saying it was ready, then spent 15 minutes back at front desk to pick up keys, to be told it actually wasn’t ready. Ironically despite not being able to get into our room on time due to their mistakes, they refused to give us any grace in a late check out the next day. This could be a high quality place if front desk and management showed more care and attention to detail for guests. The restaurant and bar area is really beautiful, but again there was a disconnect between staff and guests which led to delays and a general sense of a lack of cohesiveness or communication between staff. Also no phones in rooms and cell service is terrible there - making it difficult to talk to anyone at the front desk. Would love to see some improvements in how guests are treated because it really is a beautiful location and has so much potential.

Staffing could be more professional. Really lax attitude. We chose a suite that sleeps five. There weren’t enough towels or pillows. When we asked for more they said they would “try”. For the price, you should do more than try. Asked for a wake up call, they said they’d leave a note but couldn’t guarantee it. What? No clock in the room either. Weird attitude for a high end “resort”.

The restaurant was nothing to write home about. I think the hotel is short-staffed. I ordered steel-cut oats and they arrived cold -- I assume cause it was dished out while our table's food was cooking. Took a while to get a hot bowl and then they didn't bring the fruit that goes with it. I had to ask twice for the oatmeal condiments. Last, Expedia said it would be a certain price with required fees, however it was even more. $500 a night is pricey.

The beds are ok The picture of the “resort” in this page is misleading. That castle kind of front is not really where you go to. The hotel itself are just some aberahe buildings around the pool and the views are average. Like a fancy inn. Also It’s greedy to charge $20 per day for parking when there is a lot of space. It’s not like it’s a hotel in Times Square. For the amount of money they charge they should offer a basic breakfast. Also I went with my 4 year old child and the lady downstairs complained about the minimum noise he was doing. If you’re going to accept children then either offer them rooms downstairs or deal with the crazy guests. That lady came to my front door after I spoke with the staff and threatened me with calling the police. My child then wanted to leave because he was scared. I do not recommend staying here. There are cheaper hotels with breakfast and you get what you see in the pictures. Will not come back.

It was also prom weekend there when we arrived so we could not find parking anywhere, and valet was encouraging people to park in handicap that were not - not to mention we were in need of a handicap space. Sunday morning was a nightmare. Apparently they put on Mother’s Day brunch and decided to have the valet line start right in front of our building. We moved our car from the parking lot behind the tennis courts because again no handicap spots available near our room. We parked our car on the fire line to at least be able to bring our bags down, and ended up getting told by valet we couldn’t park there even to bring down bags and ended up getting boxed in by empty cars waiting to be valeted somewhere. It does not sit well with us that we paid for our room, for parking, the resort fees, for all the “amenities” and we’re being treated like we didn’t belong there because brunch tickets were their money maker. It’s a beautiful secluded area but our family decided this will be our second and last stay. This was a second chance after our first was also pretty undesirable(a major safety concern), but unfortunately the way everything was handled leads us to believe this is just how things go here.

The pool is a salt water warm pool which I loved—but it was a bit small for how many kids were there on a weekend. We went one night with our kids and swam, played tennis and baci ball. The view was great and we loved the rooms patio. I hate hotels that feel stuffy and I found having the patio really helped. There was no loud AC units running, was generally quiet. But the hallway doors banged so loudly and we had a room next to a hallway door. If they had soft close doors I’d give it a 5/5.

It was a beautiful resort but they were not properly staffed. Our room was clean, but found utensils (used) on the floor on the side of the bed. Gross. We went to the restaurant for breakfast, with a reservation, and it was an almost three hour ordeal due to the lack of staff. The reason I still give a 4 out of 5 was because it was a beautiful resort, very centrally located, and three specific staff members went above and beyond. The biggest thank you to Jacob, Jackson, and Nicolas. These three are the primary reason I would come back! Well done on the amazing hires.

I highly recommend if it's your first time doing a resort and spa. I felt it had a little bit of everything. It has a hiking and trailing, himalayan sauna, steam room, a spa/massage, pool, yoga and fitness, pricey-but good food, room service, great staff and even a menu for your dog! My fur baby even have his own free package goodies! It' definitely a nice quiet and family friendly place. I highly recommend!

Air conditioning in our room was not working- we were offered a fan the first day. However the next day I asked the maintenance guy himself and it was fixed in 2 minutes. Power went out in our room one morning from turning on the hair dryer. We were told maintenance wasn’t in yet so no one could flip the breaker. Room keys reset 3 of 4 days. Keys didn’t work to pool We had called ahead to learn if there were plans for an egg hunt / the Easter Bunny - we were told no. Yet there were. They were updating the room to the left and right of us - which was needed. But started working at 8am- not great when traveling with teenagers who could have slept in for their spring break. Pool towels lacking. Pool app to order - didn’t work Once we got it to and food was sent without the modifications They need to set aside parking for hotel guests versus restaurant guests versus members .

There was a confusion about spa hours but spa was open every day just spa services were closed on certain days. That's a big difference. I loved the spa jacuzzi ambiance but steam room was not working :( good news sauna was working but BEAWRE sauna has a wall of tiles and the sign is not clear and I almost got a reallly bad burn!! 🔥 they should fix that. Both my husband and I had the same comment. Thankfully I got a minor burn. They should fix this immediately and put wood instead of tiles. Be careful!!!! Dinner was amazing and the music and ambient was perfect! We were there for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Also free Tesla charging! Bonus!

Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. After our first night, housekeeping stripped all the beds and towels from our room as if we had checked out. After multiple trips to the front desk and over two hours of back-and-forth, we finally had all three beds made—but still had no hand towels and no replenished coffee supplies. While they did waive the resort fee, the experience was frustrating enough that I can’t recommend staying here. The rooms and pools still feel dated despite the refresh. The restaurant and hiking trails were nice, but not enough to make up for the service issues.

Nice hotel overall, but the service did not match the experience. The staff came across as unfriendly unless concerns were raised directly, otherwise, issues seemed to go unaddressed. At the bar, Mitch appeared to be having a difficult day, handling items roughly and creating an uncomfortable atmosphere for guests at the bar. When this was brought to a manager’s attention, the response was dismissive, and there was no follow-up to ensure the situation improved. Hospitality should prioritize guest experience and professionalism, and unfortunately, that was lacking during this visit.

We booked our room through Expedia, and the listing stated that self-parking was included in the $40 resort fee with no additional charge. However, when we arrived at the hotel, we were informed that the policy had changed and that parking now costs $20 per night, in addition to a $40 resort fee. This was disappointing since it was different from what was advertised at the time of booking. Other than that, everything else was ok.

Kids should not be allowed here it was insanely noisy, could hear every footstep on the ceiling of them running around until 10.30pm. The lunch menu was terrible, the burger tasted old & was cold in the middle & had zero flavor. Our TV didn’t work & it took the front desk 2 & 1/2 hours to come & fix it & then the guy put a football game on & pretended to still be fixing it whilst watching the game?! He literally cheered when he saw the score!!! Feel like this place is ran by teenagers. Not the relaxing spa experience I had wanted…the hot tub looks scummy too & people were just drinking beers in there. I originally had 2 nights booked but I left after the first night. I also complained to the front desk woman & she just said oh yes we have had some complaints about the noisy kids, sorry about that & then didn’t offer any compensation. Awful!

The resort is very dated. The photos posted of the lobby, and the rooms are deceiving. When we checked into our room, the toilet was running, so we had to change rooms. We paid for a room with outdoor access, they didn’t have any of those rooms available, and we weren’t offered a partial refund. They moved us directly upstairs from our other room and we could hear the toilet from below running all night long. They also began replacing door locks in the morning which made a loud, vibrating sound. On a positive note, the view from the restaurant is very pretty. Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy our stay.

While the Chaminade is beautifully located and secluded, we were surprised to find very small rooms (maybe even smaller than a regular motel) - with not even a real closing bathroom door (not great as a romantic couple thing), the TV was not working (couldn't load Netflix, couldn't turn off so we had to unplugged), the shower was flowing all over with badly located soap so you can't avoid getting your hair wet. I'm also very surprised that at that price point, we still had to pay for our own parking, when there is actually no way of getting there since it is located inside a park. Finally we got there during a UC conference, so the whole resort got really loud with drinking college kids all night long. Our next door room had about 15 of them doing drinking games and being very loud. We felt like spending a night in a college campus, but paid over $500 for it...

Okay, first off the staff here is really great! The property is super quiet and you definetly pay for the view to stay here. The rooms definetly need a revamp just the dungeon like feel the rooms are just too dark for my liking and for the price you pay just does not add up really. But the location and views is what your paying for maybe better off to pitch a tent in the woods probably would be more justified. The beds are comfy just did not like having to change my room several times while staying here that sucked but other than that we had a calm nice time here staff is super sweet, the pool and the fire pit at night is nice too. The beds are actually pretty comfy too but that is about all I can say about the dungeon rooms just too dark for my liking. I do appreciate getting the nice fruit plate after bing down at the pool for hours was a really nice addition and super fresh love that! Would I stay again probably but hopefully they update these rooms a little better to be so dark and gloomy... Thanks so much Chaminade have a great day! :)

The property was in a nice area. The lobby area was nice. But that’s where the nice stopped. The room was well worn, bathroom ceiling was peeling, and carpets were not too clean. The pool area ran out of pool towels by 11am and there were no more than 20-30 people at the pool. The room we stayed in had a glass “wall/window” that faced the interior hallway. There should be some kind of shutters, or window covering to block the light from the hallway. It was very difficult to sleep with the room lit up all night.

We waited nearly 2 hours after check in time for the room to be ready. Sure it was a holiday weekend, but we couldn't help feeling discriminated against when other people got their room before us even though we had been waiting in the lobby longer. We went expecting a nice resort like atmosphere but instead got a Travel Lodge business motel vibe. The grounds are pretty but the only view is from the restaurant. That and the lobby are somewhat updated- not luxurious but at least newer looking. The rooms are awful- dated ugly firniture, thin sheets, threadbare towels, no reception, unprotected wifi. The "View Suite with Patio" was a joke- the view was of the driveway and the patio was a tiny concrete pad with two plastic chairs- no privacy, right off the driveway with cars driving by. The pool was unheated, no food or drink. Spa was closed. The food in the restaurant was ok- nothing special at all but at least that one spot had a nice view and some live music. Service was fine- check-in and waiters were friendly and competent. It's far from town and you can't walk to anything, which would be fine if it had everything you needed but it doesn't.

The rooms are outdated, need some repair and to fix the repair jobs that were done terribly such as patch and paint. we saw lots of paint patches all over the room, instead it should have been painted completely to make it smooth and nice. Furniture has no theme, because it's all over the place from photos of santa cruz, to a ruler coat hangar (yes, looks like a ruler, but with hooks coming out). Overpriced everything from cocktails to parking (20$ a day!!). They leave out that if you're 55 plus, you can receive discount on your room, plus a credit for dining. I am 57, and I wasn't offered anything. I was robbed if you ask me. Never ever going back!!

The grounds were beautiful. We were able to check in our room right away. I was a VIP so I received a free bottle of wine. That was ready right at check-in. However, I was a little disappointed that I wasn’t given an option of red or white wine. I’m not a red wine drinker and they only had red wine. So it was a waste. We ate at The View restaurant and the service was a damper. It took about 30 minutes for someone to take our order after I had to speak with someone. They blamed it on a communication error. On the other hand, the food and the views were good. The room was nice and spacious and gave a lot of pillows which I liked. The swimming area was nice and clean. Great location to the boardwalk. Overall me and my family loved it and will be back.

We had an issue with our first room the first night. The lock to the door did not work, and then we noticed that the additional door lock latch was completely broken. It was too late to move our entire family so we just put our luggage and a chair up against the front door. The recessed lights in the ceiling were also separated from the ceiling and dangling 2-3 inches. Went to the front desk the next morning and they immediately moved us rooms and comped us for the first night. Everything else about the property was really nice! We did not eat on property but the restaurant sounded busy. 10 minute drive to just about everything you would need.

Although the area was nice the room was so loud like the fridge was so loud we had to unplug it to be able to sleep. During the time at the pool they were children splashing around the hot tub and with giant round floatties inside the hot tub which made our relaxing time a bit frustrating so we end up leaving. Other pool is out of order and that was not mentioned during our booking process. We booked this place for the amenities it showed and it was not the best. The food in the restaurant was delicious but the service was not attentive we had to walk out of how long it was taking our server check to charge our room. We are very patient people and don’t like giving out bad reviews but for the amount of money we spend this was not the best place.
