Motel 6 Irvine - Orange County Airport

The property looks decent for the outside but inside it is not the best. There definitely is a smell in the building and lots of animals in the rooms.

Room smelled like pot. Changing rooms was a pain. Bed was so old and uncomfortable.

Not a fan of the new check-in kiosk, I’m a frequent visitor, and I have made friendly relationships with some of the ladies behind the counter, and I don’t like being told that I “have” to use the new kiosk when there are two people sitting behind the counter.

Room was extremely dusty and the floor was dirty, did not feel comfortable walking around without our shoes on, there was nothing in the room. Rooms smelled of weed, even though I specifically booked a non-smoking room. Outside doors leading into the building didnt even need a room key, even though it claimed to require it, to scan in so anyone could have walked into the building

It was easy to check-in and staff was super helpful even though I used the self help kiosk. It was clean and stay was excellent. N/A

We have stayed here three times and each time it has been a good experience. The rooms are simple, but the bed is always comfortable and the staff is professional and friendly. Free parking is helpful.

Pros: - nice and helpful staff - easy location. In the middle of a lot of cities and near the airport. Next to convenience store and gas station - Free and lot of parking Cons: - smelled like pet pee in certain corners of our room. Halls smelled moldy, musty, and like pet pee - bed under the sheet wasn’t fully clean. Had a piece of hair and some yellow thing. Beds were creaky - Had to ask front desk for a hairdryer - Thin walls. Can hear doors slamming and people yelling in the halls, dogs barking - WiFi didn’t work; the password and clicking ok didn’t do anything. One of our room outlets didn’t work

Very let friendly with good grassy spots to walk them and they provide the doggy bags for cleanup. The security door on the west end of the building is not locked at any hour all other similar doors require the room key for entry also the chair in the room was very dirty but all in all for a motel 6 it was a good stay. Good location too. All the freeways are accessible and it’s only 4 miles from a Shakey’s pizza.

there was an issue with the room not being cleaned correctly I had to show them a picture of a pill that was on the head board of the bed that I grabbed before my two year old son saw it the floors were not cleaning and the drawers were all dirty overall the room was not clean enough for the money I spent

Air conditioning/heater worked just fine, the bathroom sink drain closer was broken and appeared to have been that way for a while given the dungeons it. I also niticed some mold near the front wall of the tip/shower. The front desk was notified of this when I checked out.

Usually the motel 6’s don’t have the best reputations and this was one of them. As we walked into the room there was harsh smells, the blankets smelled like they hadn’t been washed. I really liked the staff they were friendly to me and always very nice and helpful. I didn't like that the pool wasn't heated and the jacuzzi didn't work at all. I'd have be really liked to use those. Because you advertise them, so you need to really keep them up and running. People want to swim all year around

Great time and super clean

Honestly wasn't bad. I was a little worried seeing the other reviews on here and yes it is a cheaper hotel so expect some scuff, but really for the price it was what I needed in a pinch. The beds were clean and bedbug free (I checked both mattresses and didn't see any sign of any). The bathroom was just fine, it did look a little old but think of it like an older apartment that's not been updated in a while. Everything else was fine. There was maintenance happening on one of the side doors but I was able to go in and out during the day time and they locked it up during the evening (probably for security). Otherwise the staff were really nice, I had no problems and had a comfortable stay while I was there for two days before moving to another hotel with friends closer to the Anaheim Convention center. I'd bunk here again if I was in the area and needed to be closer to the John Wayne Airport!

This is the place you send people you don’t like.The place looked down and dirty from the outside and the room they gave me smelled like pee and very strong.We changed rooms but it was the same.Had to sleep in our truck because we got out of there and had to wait for our check in at another hotel.

I stayed for nearly 2 weeks I'm still here currently, last day is the 24th. I really enjoyed my stay here the concierge was really friendly and helpful, was easy to get fresh towels when I wanted them, and since I did not have a frig or microwaver in my room i used the microwave and dining area in the front entry. it was peaceful and most of the other people staying here were friendly.

Area was scary, I can hear people arguing and smoking outside our room. We found many roaches, dirty sheets, dirty ice bucket and our tv wouldn’t properly work. I knew what I signed up for but expected a little more than this

The air conditioning did work properly it made loud noises. The floors was sticky and had dead roaches . It smelled and some kept nocking at the door screaming bad words we call the front but it didn’t help a few hours later he kept doing it. They charge my credit card twice. It was a mess I

I’ve stayed here a dozen times, never had any complaints. I don’t know what was up with the floor this time around, but it was kind of dirty and the light over the vanity sink needs replacing as it was flashing nonstop before finally turning on.

The room had a weird stale smell to it, there was hair on the sheets and towels, the heater had this awful kind of burning smell when turned on, and the toilet didn’t seem to be the cleanest. I will say that it was quiet and there were a couple food places and gas stations within walking distance so that was a plus.

The property looked somewhat cleaned and maintained. It was unsettling to see a few people hanging outside the property that were high and smoking. One guy was walking around the vehicles and had his hand in his pants a few times. That felt unsafe. The lobby had a weird smell of mildew and there was only one person checking in guests. I went to check in but my room was not ready. That was disappointing considering check in time is at 3pm and they had a full cleaning staff from what I witness. The lady at the front desk told me it would be another 40 minutes to wait for my room. I came back in 20 minutes instead and somehow it was ready. The lady at the front desk also had a moody demeanor which is disappointing considering it’s supposed to be a place for friendly hospitality. The room itself was okay, it looked clean but well used. Some stains on the bed frame and paint chipping off the walls. Overall, my experience with the hotel could have been better but I basically got what I paid for. The previous reviews from others is what fooled me.

I’ve stayed at this hotel a few times each time the toilets are disgusting. They are old obviously. TVs are old.

Bed was uncomfortable- there was a dip in the mattress that I couldn’t get comfortable in. Hardly slept. Bathtub drain looked dirty but when I looked closer it was flaking off and discolored. Room had unpleasant smell. I was a late check in having arrived at SNA from out of town and I was leaving early the next morning so I didn’t bother attempting a remedy. The front desk staff was the best part as they were friendly and check in/out was a breeze.

The only thing is that we didn’t have any shampoo, conditioner or lotion in the bathroom. I guess that is the way Motels works.

Super friendly and understanding

This is a basic, if u just need a place for the night and can rough it. Our room smelled like cigarettes, hence the 2 ashtrays that were provided in the room. Did not really look when booking. It was late and just needed to sleep. No amenities just the basic, towels and bedding. No carpet, which was good, it would've made the smell worst. This place could really be due for a complete makeover.

This motel served my purpose quite well. The staff were friendly and professional, the bed was comfortable, the room was huge (king bed), the room was relatively clean, but showing wear as expected for the price, the parking was convenient and security personnel were always around. Walls are thin, it's in the flightpath to the airport (earplugs recommended), and the gardners started at 7am. The nearby road construction didn't interfere too much with travel to and from the motel. I didn't use the pool, but it looked clean and inviting. Maybe next time.

Cons: Room wasn’t available until about 3 hours after the suggested 3pm check in time. 2. Ants in restroom. 3. Does NOT have daily house keeping 4. A lot of questionable people walking around. 5. Dogs allowed in nearby rooms so their is noise. 6. Bathroom is not kept clean. Found random hairs on floor and bath towel.

For the budget, this place is really cool. Some of the people living around the area were not as friendly as a neighborhood spider, but overall the stay was pleasant. The bed was comfortable, and when you open the door to the outside balcony there is a really nice smell in the air that feels refreshing. The environment was quiet and relaxing, which made the stay even better. Overall, I think it was awesome and a good value for the price.

Room was pretty beat up, floor was slimy with soap or oil? old tub shower enclosure with black spots (I assume mold) in the corners. Landscaper with 2cycle trimmer started at 7:30 outside our sliding door. Scheduled three night stay, but only stayed one night.

Some of the women staff don't look like they want to be there. Room wasn't clean, the bathroom had mold. But you get what you pay for. Pool wasnt clean despite it being open.

Internet was ok, the towels were pretty bad, the chest of drawers had a broken drawer that would not pull out enough, the lavatory faucet had a plugged aerator with the horrible shower head style that shoots water all over if you open the water too much. The shower was OK, the drain was working good, water was good and hot, the fridge and microwave worked ok. The bed was comfortable and the AC was good.

The hotel is outdated, there are cracks everywhere, and the security door on the side entrance was broken and no key was needed for entry. Upon arrival, there was a person relieving themselves in the pet area, which made an awkward entry. Which didn't make us feel any better when said security door would not lock. The halls had a funny smell, as did the room. There was no refrigerator, hair dryer, microwave, or usb outlets. The sheets were clean at least, but the beds were not super comfy, and squeaked loudly. I read lots of reviews of cockroaches, but did not see any thankfully. The light in the bathroom took 5 mins to actually turn on, it would flicker until it came on, like poltergeist. I did not step foot in the shower as it looked super cracked and dirty. Also, the walls are super thin, so early morning we heard dogs barking, doors slamming, footsteps down the hall, and people yelling. I have stayed at other motel 6's that were not this bad. We needed a bed to sleep in and it did just that. I would not bring my kids here. The area is relatively nice, but the person on the grass with pants down really took that vibe away. The staff was very helpful and friendly though. They were probably the best part of the stay.

Good location and the staff is very nice. During my busy, the elevator was out of order and I had to use the stairs to carry my luggage. That was a little rough as I had a suitcase, carryon and travel bags.

The man at the front desk was great, very nice. But people were in and out of door to building(right by our room)all night. There was a woman running around yelling. It was the worst hotel experience we ever had.

I had a second-floor room with a balcony overlooking the pool, which was nice even in winter. Free Wi-Fi, cable, parking, and coffee in the mornings. There’s a pool, Jacuzzi, laundry room, plus ice and vending machines. The property feels safe with 24-hour security and is well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful. Pets stay free, which was a big plus for my two dogs. Affordable spot—I’d definitely stay here again.

I love it because it's very welcoming and cozy and the rooms are big. It's conviently located to every thing! The staff is very pleasant and helpfull especially Claudia she always goes above and beyond to help with any kind of issue! She is always professional and quick!

It was horrible. The people upstairs were partying all night and making so much noise. After driving 7 hours, all I wanted to do is sleep. I went upstairs and asked them nicely to be quiet. When that didn’t work, I called the front desk 4 times to complain and ask them to do something. They said they sent security to their room. I asked to be moved and nothing was available. I will be writing a complaint to corporate and writing a bad review. I stayed at 1717 Dyer Santa Ana room 135.

Hot tub was not on. And noise seemed to travel with loud noises in the hallway intermittently at night. Microwave and fridge worked, though fridge was kind of load. Balcony was nice feature, but couldn't turn off light on the balcony which was very bright despite the curtains.

The A.C not the heater worked in there. The light kept flickering in the room and the the volume on the tv wouldn’t go up

I had two stays there. Nov 24-25 and Dec 1-2. On Nov 24 I was in room 127 and the bed definitely needs replacing as the mattress has deep 'body prints' on both halves. + Opening the drapes in the morning revealed dirty windows. On the INSIDE! The night spent on the 1st was much better; the mattress was much better without the depressions. (room 144) Easy check-in both times.

Took almost 2hours to check in. The first room they gave us had cockroaches in it. The second room was better. No servicing the room the whole week we were there…no taking rubbish out, no changing towels, no cleaning of the room. Wouldn’t stay there again anytime soon.

This motel is one of the worst properties we’ve ever stayed at. The room smelled musty as well as of cleaners. There was mold on the bathtub area. The toilet had rust stains (hope it was only rust). The corners of the rooms and shelves were dirty. We had people knock on our outside window after midnight. In the morning there was a homeless guy sleeping on the hallway floor outside our room. The wifi would not respond to the motel password. Motel staff said the problem would be looked at but it wasn’t. After two days I contacted the tech company who serviced the wifi system myself and after a few minutes the tech was able to get the internet access working. There was no hair dryer in the suite. The staff were pleasant but not helpful. This Motel 6 has definitely seen better days. Not recommended.

Great for dogs, lots of grass and pet waste stations. Was there for 3 nights, had a balcony which my dogs loved just sitting outside and people watching. Location is decent, more of in an industrial park but a convenience store next door and a Carl's Jr across the street so grabbed a quick lunch one day. It's really nice for a Motel 6 and I've stayed at a bunch of them because pets stay free. No complaints.

We used this property as an inexpensive way for us to stay in town for a basketball tournament. After the first night, we decided to eat the cost and drive back home. I had booked the property two days later when the tournament resumed and we immediately canceled our reservation to take something nicer. I've stayed in Motel 6's before in my life and knew it would be a "budget option." But, I never anticipated this many hiccups.

Nick was very friendly & accommodating when I arrived to check in the other night. The only thing that wasnt pleasant was the fact that when I went to turn the TV on I noticed there wasn't a power cord. So when I went to the front desk in the middle of the night & was told there was no cord for me. So then adding the rain & no TV being stuck inside really didn't help my anxiety inn

once a glorious place to live and a place which stood apart from all other motel 6's all other motels really has in a short amount of time has become a horrible place with horrible people representing it since the new general manager who is so unprofessional I a loyal customer for 5 plus years don't even know her name and her crew from the first day they came to work at motel 6 on dyer rd I have been judged and discriminated against I jumped through all the hoops they asked tried to comply and then yesterday after 5 years of being a loyal customer I was refused service simply because of the address on my id no other reason that is discrimination my id has the address of the motel 6 because that is where I live that is where I get my mail and it has been the address on my id for the past at least three years never a problem before as a matter of fact the gm at the time was who suggested I use that address no where does it say I couldn't have that address or that I would be discriminated against for that being my address I checked out when asked every month and then checked back in even though the 28 day shuffle is an illegal practice used to keep people in homeless status I did it because I loved living there I was proud of that motel and the people who work there it was a prize example of what hospitality should look like then it wasn't it was the opposite with unfriendly unhappy people at the front desk who never offered a smile or a kind word to me being a l

U cant beat the price. Overall is a ok place as long as you steer clear of the homeless crowd whos either panhandling or tryingg to sell you drugs....definitely not a place for your kids

I had to transfer rooms 3 times because the first had a clogged toilet; the second smells like cigarette. The rooms keys always dont work so i had to go to reception to have it fixed.

Only one bath towel provided. Towels with yellow stains. Cosmetic issues throughout room. Poor maintenance of room. Popcorn ceiling/ yuck. Curtains with multiple tears. Table lamp with rust I would not return unless I was homeless and even then, I would have to think twice.

On top of everything, the manager accused us of having several guests in and out throughout our stay. We did not. I can not understand how this place is in business. I wouldn't give it 1 star if it was an option.

Air works great. Standard rooms are a little on the worn side. Upgraded rooms are much better. Fridge, microwave, King size bed, and a comfy dining table area I used as a desk.

They left the light on for me but it was the crack smokers all around the property that kept it lit. Don’t bring your family here.

Someone in room 227 broke into it and we were in room 229 very very close the balconies touched the lady asked me for a screwdriver at 3:00 in the morning after setting my car alarm off I called the front office the lady didn't do nothing but security and then they kept coming back banging on that glass window they had a job somehow from the first floor to the second floor to get to the balcony I don't know how they didn't offer her to move his rooms the power was off two different times no water no heater in the rain we got sick other people got up to 50% off or a free night we only got 18% so $18 back what's that going to do that wasn't satisfying us the manager was named Maria someone should complain over her and lose her job she's very new of a week to two weeks she needs to be fired and we should be confinated or refunded for one of those nights either refunded or key credits cuz we didn't get two nights of used without power water how to stay dirty pretty much got ammonia I should turn them in if we can't fix this somehow thanks I may stop using Expedia if this isn't fixed ASAP and something is taken care of Maria

Very disappointing. We asked for a late check out when we called to confirm and was told that was fine but would be an extra charge, and was told the same thing upon check in and we only needed up to 1& 1/2 hour more and was willing to pay but when I called the front desk in the morning the lady I spoke with said they don’t do that and latest we could stay would be 11:30am. We had a flight that was at 4:15pm and just needed a little extra time. I have stayed at multiple motel 6 in the past and never had any issues, but this was by far the worst experience with them.

Horrible stay. I was initially put in a room that smelled like someone was chain smoking when the room I booked was supposed to be nonsmoking. Although I was accommodated into another room, there were bugs on the floor, which was so nasty. Lots of homeless people and drug users hanging out around the property. Not very safe

There is an obvious plumbing or sewer issue with this property as upon entering the front doors to check in it smelled like an construction Porta-Potty inside. When asking the front desk who was a real dear, very sweet very inviting and hospitable however her response was a chuckle indicating that this is a problem that's been going on for some time and she's had to get used to it and doesn't have words to explain it. On another note if you're not lucky enough to book a premium room you will be sent to the back building where you can take easement and relieve stress in a beautifully big suite where you will find that the sheets were great, things were kind of clean except for boogers on the walls, tagging from gang members on every piece of furniture, holes in the ceiling, light fixtures coming down, air conditioner that somewhat worked. There was a beautiful pool with jacuzzi at temperature however the jets/ bubbles did not work, the handle was broken. Now I understand this property is an area where it's a little bit difficult for people who have lost their homes due to addictions etc. just understand that it's more than likely that youll find somebody passed out or nodding out on the stairs blocking entry or completely passed out face down in the parking lot. For 2 hours I listened to am man fight outside of my door at 2:30 in the morning

I like that they are personal, the price is affordable and you have two choices of convenient stores within walking distance

The hotel at least in the room we were in smelled really bad. There were vagrants and CD unsavory people and homeless people outside our door in the parking lot everywhere. The room had obviously been broken into and had double locks on it. Broken door frame didn’t close properly. My daughter and I felt very unsafe. There was fights outside our door. Somebody had a dog that was barking constantly. These were homeless people not guessing in the hotel. We called the front desk and asked them to move us to another room because we didn’t feel safe so they moved us to a room inside The main building near the front desk so we felt better but we never stay here again.

I need a rest alone but my stay was not good at all. At night, it is loud and shady. You can hear footsteps upstairs from my room at 2 am. I think a cop was knocking loudly at 10 pm after a fight. Free Coffee in the lobby was brewed a little bit of coffee and it came out like water when you put your cream. The pool was dirty and it was summer but I decided not to go. And on my way to my room after I got my coffee I see a shady guy for sure not a guest knocking at the door talking to himself when I know there is nobody inside the room and he is across my room and I went back to the lobby and for sure he saw me and said hi creepy. I've been to Motel 6 all over by far this is the worst experience sorry:/

I stayed my 1st night in the back building which had a few noisy guests and the grounds outside of the building were not the cleanest nor well-groomed, but the room itself was spacious and the motel surroundings were quiet. On the 2nd night I swapped rooms to be inside the motel’s main building which was definitely quieter, HOWEVER, it was in this room that I encountered seeing 1 cockroach. Twas f*cking disgusting but at least I didn’t see another one after that. The front desk staff were extremely helpful, accommodating, and warm which made my experience staying here more comfortable. The 7-11, Arco, Carls Jr, and Del Taco all being within immediate walking distance from the motel was extremely convenient. I don’t know if I’d feel comfortable having my children with me staying here due to trash being left to sit outside of rooms inside the building corridors or the poorly kept conditions seen in some areas around the motel, as well as the frequent sight of homeless men and women who feel comfortable enough to casually linger around the hotel and its front entrance and beg hotel guests for money and cigarettes. Not to mention the cockroach. That was gross as hell too and I wouldn’t want my child amidst filthy conditions as such. If you’re traveling alone then this is a great place to stay as it’s not so bad enough to where you’re unable to humble yourself and stay so you can save as much money as can. I wouldn’t bring your girl here or your in-laws though. 2.5 out of 5 stars

Never stayed at Motel 6 before but when comparing prices at the hotels I stayed at years back, I though I would give it a try. It's not what I was use to, but I saved $250 a night.

Staff was great, room was clean, right by the freeway and next to an AM/PM for last minute stuff.

Room should be more clean and the towels are always so dirty. The bed sheets are gross and there is so many insects

This property permits smoking and pets, and though our room supposedly didn't allow either, it smelled like smoke and pets. The residents propped open the security door all night, and little groups of people stayed out in the parking lot until dawn. On the positive side, the pool and grounds are clean and attractive.

The night manager was professional, kind and understanding. Great service and hotel.

DON’T DO IT! 1st room had a broken a/c with rude maintenance along with 2 cockroaches running across the floor and smears of God knows what on the walls & crumbs on the floor. 2nd room REEKED of smoke and didn’t have a microwave which we paid extra for. 3rd room also smelled of smoke but we realized that was the best it was gonna get. Not in a million years would I use the shower, just skipped. Also, the MAIN REASON we booked was the hot tub and it’s not only not hot, the jets are broken. Sadly, it was a non refundable room.

With that said, the smells were terrible. The building smelled like urine, which likely originated from the carpet in the hallways, and my room smelled like an old house basement in a very bad way, mixed with some strong chemical smell that resembled some bitter Chinese medicines. The room was in fact quite clean but it was the smell that was the problem. There was also a yellowish puddle in the walkway that leads to one of the buildings. The color turned lighter during the day, but it got darker again the next morning. Turns out that a guest let his dog out to urinate on the walkway every morning. Perhaps a sprinkler went off or the staff hosed it down during the day, but the guest would repeat letting his dog out to urinate at the same spot again the following day. I suspect that someone or some animals also urinated on the carpet in the hallways, or other guests simply transferred the urine from the outside to the inside. Overall the place isn’t terrible considering the price, but only if you don’t care about smells.

Thr rooms however left a lot to be desired. The hallway leading to the room reeked of musty, mildew odor. At this, smelled of marijuana despite a no smoking rule. We stayed in a double queen room. Both beds squeezed horrible. Sheets were extremely scratchy. Pillows were soft. Sleep was uncomfortable to say the least. We checked out a day early. Wish I had taken pics to post. Many cosmetic flaws. No refrigerator, no iron or blow dryer. No safe. Very basic. Definitely a get what you pay for situation.

Staff was great and the balcony’s are a plus but cleanliness of rooms was HORRIBLE! Very strong pet odor along with pet hair and roaches. As convenient as it is due to cleanliness and roaches will not be returning.

The non smoking rooms smelt like cigarette smoke, I had to spray air freshener and it still didn't work too well. It is a little loud when you are in your hotel room but it didn't bother me so much. The balcony outside your hotel room is great.. the area around the hotel has a lot of homeless hanging around the parking lot but they didnt bother me. The staff is wonderful very kind people. Overall my 3 day stay was good and I never felt unsafe. I definitely would stay there again.

It’s an excellent hotel and has a reasonable rate. It is a great value for your money and extremely comfortable.. The pool is always clean and they keep the grounds beautiful. It is pet friendly and has plenty of space to walk your pets.
