The property was clean and well kept. It’s close to every thing. The pool just a few steps out of every bungalow. Full kitchen and use of out grill. Being able cook out was a blast and beat the hustle waiting at a restaurant. Staff was fantastic. I’ve already booked another stay.

Parking was easy and secure, Staff helpful when we were worried about checking process later at night.

Parking was easy. Wonderful beach for swimming and shelling right across road. Pool, laundry facilities, bbq area and even beach chairs and umbrellas are available. Definitely staying here again. N Wilkes

My husband and I stayed here for the first time in February of 2026. It met all of our expectations! The room was clean, pool area was well kept, and it was a short walk to the beach. We also liked the fact that they provided beach chairs/umbrellas. We were also very fortunate to meet the property owner, Denise, while we were there and she was extremely kind and helpful. We are ready to book it again!

Cute and sweet room with plenty of room and a full kitchen. Private beach access was nice and right across the street. This place has been completely remodeled after the hurricanes and it is all brand new. Comfortable bed, large walk in shower, big bathroom and parking right out the door from the unit. We loved our stay and we will be back soon.

The Sunshine Island Inn was wonderful. They is nothing the owners overlooked when designing the room and property. We stayed in the Lighthouse room. It is a king size bed which was wonderful. The small kitchen was fully stock with anything you would need. The unit was so clean when we arrived. They is a wonderful pool which all rooms face with a sliding glass door. The also have chaise loungers, grilling area and even have pool floats at the ready. There is also a sitting area with table and chairs just outside you entry door covered buy an adjustable umbrella. The beautiful beach is just across the street and there is even a private path for the guest. I highly recommend the Sunshine Island Inn it was a great experience!

I absolutely loved this place. Easy walk to the beach. The rooms are clean and the beds are so comfy. I reacted an electric bike to get around and loved every moment of it.

Everything was perfect! I stayed in the Palm Cottage and it is one of the nicest places I've stayed. The manager was very kind and accommodating, the place is spotless, the pool is super clean....It's just the perfect place for a couple's getaway. I will definitely return.

Quaint properry with just 6 units and its own pool for a crowd free vacation. Beautiful grounds. Perfect location close to good shelling and within a short stroll on said beach to the light house beach area.

Darling property. Thoughtfully restored after the hurricane. Very clean, well equipped and very comfortable bed. If I had one fix it would be the blue outdoor lights around the pool. Though they are terrific from a decorative point, they are problematic from a sleep perspective and the shades aren’t quite able to block all of the light.

My 1 room studio was impeccably clean and modern. The bedding was super comfortable, and the small kitchen area had everything I needed.Laundry room on premise was a plus. Pool is small and could maybe sqeeze in a few more lounge chairs?Overall I had a great experience at the Sunshine Island Inn and will look forward to another stay!

Great quiet location - within walking distance of dining, shops, and the beach. Staff very friendly and helpful. If you are looking to relax - this is a great option. Definitely would stay here again!

Our stay was very nice, although we had to cut it short due to hurricane Helene. (The staff was very understanding) We would definitely love to come back to Sunshine Island Inn.

We absolutely love it ! Clean , impeccable, everything looks brand new , we really enjoyed the accommodation and how impeccable everything was , we didnt need anything in our stay so we cant really rate the service but we can absolutely recommend the place , the only thing i would have changed is the acces to the beach , the pathway was very sleppery and there was glass on the floor so i would recommend for guest not to go to the beach barefoot

The hotel should consider improvements on this walkway.

Such a cute and quaint place to stay. I never saw the staff and so it was a bit inconvenient if you needed something. I ran out of conditioner and you don't have immediate access to request something if needed. Parking and signage on where to go upon arrival was confusing. But I would highly recommend this place because of the atmosphere.

This was a really cute property with six units that were all redone, because of Hurricane Ian. We stayed in the one called Tropical Paradise, and I would definitely stay there again. We also got to meet the owner and she showed us a few of the other units. The beach is across the street and you have to walk between two buildings to get there, but not a big deal.

This place was lovely!!! The island is going through a tough time. I wanted to come down stay and support locals! I can’t say enough about how lovely they stay was. Very close to the beach, park right outside your door. They have beach chairs and umbrellas for your use. Grill, shower, hose off or even shower!!! Can’t wait to return!

Beautiful room - Clean and modern. The only issue we had was the 2 living chairs and couch was uncomfortable as the cushions were too worn for sitting more than 1 hour.

Pretty much brand new rooms following the hurricane - comfy bed, better than anticipated kitchette & bathroom. Nice touches & design throughout. Didn't get a chance to use the pool or grills but both looked well maintained & easy to use. Would highly recommend

I would like to suggest that bathtub-shower be provided with grab bar for safety....I think there are movable ones that can be attached to outer wall of tub, if permanent installation is not wanted. Otherwise, the facility was exceedingly well furnished and designed.

My husband and I stayed at the Heron Hideaway and it was better than expected. We had a decent size mini fridge, pots and pans and hot plate for cooking, microwave, and coffee maker. We loved sitting out back along the mangroves. The grills were great for cooking. They also offer wagons for the beach, chairs, and umbrellas. The beach is walking distance. Laundry is on site too, which is great. Everything is a close bike ride away. We highly recommend. For the price, we had an awesome experience. We will be back!

It was wonderful to have the ability to cook in our room and to eat outdoors on our porch. There are a few restaurants in walking distance, but with bikes you could enjoy even more. Our trip was not planned far in advance and the room rate was appealing over others nearby. The room was small, clean, and fine for our needs. Beach path was close and safe. Being on the east side of the island allowed transportation to be less congested but not too far from dining options. A staff member named Rebecca went above and beyond to help us and we won’t hesitate to stay here again.

As I am very sensitive to fragrances, I did not enjoy the Febreeze Coconut Air Freshener. I enjoyed the pool even though it was un heated and I swam early in the morning. Might be better to advertise that your pool is not heated for those less hearty than me.

This cottage was perfect for our needs! 5 minutes from our doorstep on a nice private nature path to the beach, we found tons of shells! About a mile walk on the beach to see the lighthouse was great stretch of shelling...overwhelming amount in fact! Amenities are really well marked if you look around for signage; beach chairs, a wagon and shell washing station were wonderful to have easy access too for the beach. Only downside is that walls are thin between cottages and all are close together around the pool so that blinds have to be drawn in cottage for privacy. Our neighbors were all great and respectful though, so we had a great time! The Palm cottage was cozy, quiet and close to great restaurants! We would recommend it and would like to return for a longer stay, thank you! :)

About a mile walk on the beach to see the lighthouse was great stretch of shelling...overwhelming amount in fact! Amenities are really well marked if you look around for signage; beach chairs, a wagon and shell washing station were wonderful to have easy access too for the beach. Only downside is that walls are thin between cottages and all are close together around the pool so that blinds have to be drawn in cottage for privacy. Our neighbors were all great and respectful though, so we had a great time! The Palm cottage was cozy, quiet and close to great restaurants! We would recommend it and would like to return for a longer stay, thank you! :)

Management was not friendly. We didnt know until thw day we checked out that beach chairs and umbrella were available. No wine opener in kitchen and all the beach towels were for children.

The property is very well located (just a short walk to the beach). It was very clean and staff was very friendly. It is an older property and it does show. I did feel the blinds in the property were a bit lacking to provide adequate privacy. Overall, We had an excellent stay. Thank you.

We loved this place. We stayed in the Palm cottage which had plenty of room. It has a full kitchen and living room along with king size bed. We used the kayaks which was nice since they were free! Would definitely stay here again.

Nice quiet spot close to the water with access directly across the street. Only negative I found was that the walls are very thin and you can hear the neighbors all the time. The location is awesome and the area is nice and clean.

There was no hot water, no wifi and smelled like sewer on the outside. counldn't contact anyone even though there was an after hour phone number. Inside was clean but smelled.

Like others, I hesitate to leave this review because I would like to keep this little gem quiet. Charming, well-appointed rooms with a cottage feel. Very clean. Cute place across the street from the beach. Easy no contact check in, provided the essentials, parking for one car. A little bit of walking distance to restaurants. I went solo and felt safe, and there were lots of families.

Wish it had an iron & ironing board. One important note, when you leave the room, you cannot lock it with the deadbolt using the room key, it looks very easy for someone to get into. Check-in was a super breeze. They even had beach accessories for you. Pool was clean and the place was overall well kept. This is NOT a resort, so there were mostly families on this side of the island. The water, wildlife, and shelling are exceptional. The beaches were clean and it seemed to us that everyone was doing a great job cleaning up after themselves and being careful about the wildlife. Saw dolphins, rays, marsh rabbits, Iguana, countless bird species and fish. The shelling was incredible; (always throw the live ones back!). Kudos to the Sunshine Island caretakers; they really nailed it for us. We can't wait to return!

Nice stay. Quiet and peaceful. Close to town for dinner and shopping.

Our unit was very nice. Had two full bathrooms and a spacious kitchen. Beach equipment available. Nice pool area. Only issue was that four other units were rented to a group of people that hung around the pool drinking during the day for two days. They weren’t that annoying but kept us from enjoying the pool area.

Overall we were pleased, but maintenance was a bit spotty. The bathroom in our cabin was not in great condition. The kitchen could have been better equipped.

This is our second visit staying at the Sunshine Island Inn. Last year it was great, but this year was a disappointment. There is no housekeeping available which we knew, but we used to have access to clean linens and replacement soap and toilet paper, but this year we had to track down a staff member (who was typically only on property for a few hours a day), so they could give us clean towels or a new bar of soap. This proved to be very inconvenient bc we had to plan our day around changing our linens. Another issue is that they allow smoking around the pool, and each room has a sliding door that opens to the pool deck, so when someone was smoking out there, we couldn’t have our door open. Overall, this place is clean and well located on the island.

The best comment I can make is that we will most likely stay here again. It is right across the street from the beach. The pool was small but it was a great way to cool off after being at the beach during the day. The room size was average except for the bathroom which was very small. Parking for each unit is clearly marked and good. They have 2 kayaks that you can take out which is a cool plus. Overall a good stay.

Renovated, very nice

Accomodations get 4/5 stars and customer service gets one star. This is a very small quaint hotel. Pool was great, wifi was solid. We were supposed to be in the Banyan room and they called two hours before check in saying they moved us to Castaway which is too small. I accidently booked the room for one adult rather than 2 adults 2 kids. So i can see why they thought the Castawsy would work, but nevertheless that was not the room i booked and they acted as if it were no big deal to move us. I was told the AC went out, but someone was in there painting as well and there appeared to be a different guest in there the second night. I was not offered any compensation despite moving to a smaller room with no freezer and mini fridge rather than a full sized kitchen. Long and the short of it is if you sent care about customer service and have flexible expectations this is an okay place to stay, but if you want what you paid for look elsewhere. We did get to see a manatee in the canal behind the hotel so that was super cool, but I'd still stay elsewhere if given another chance.

This cute little place was nestled in just the right spot. The beach was a 5 minute walk or the Causeway Park was a short 5 minute drive to watch the sunset. Our room was very clean and we had all we needed for our 4 night stay. We will make this an annual getaway, for sure.

We moved to the Lighthouse room because the Castaway was nice, but a little tight for us. The management is very accommodating and we love the self serve service for towels. There are beach chairs and one umbrella for use and a trail to the beach across the street. Nice and quiet too. Wonderful stay.

Very clean yet dated establishment. Loved the small cozy feel of the Inn. However, the beds did not provide support especially if you’re a side or stomach sleeper. Much to soft and giving.

The location is good. We rented bikes and rode on the bike paths around the island. They provide beach chairs and a wagon. Some umbrellas. There are two kayaks but the office people have to give you the keys. The office says it is staffed from 10-3. We rarely saw a office person. Just people doing the laundry who weren’t friendly and didn’t know anything. The owners are at their other hotel. You could call if you need someone but you check your self in and out. There is no made service. We stayed in the cottage which appeared clean but smelled strongly of mildew. It’s pretty small. Next time we would try another place.

Super clean, really nice. Had booked smaller room and was upgraded to larger apartment. Such a nice place. A hidden gem. Very quiet, excellent location.Great amenities. Would definitely stay again.

We have stayed at this place twice now. I hate to write a good review as I don't want others to find this place and make it that much harder for us to get a reservation, lol. Great location just across the street from the beach, quiet low key place to just relax and enjoy Sanibel. There are two newer outdoor gas grills and a nice pool. I would call the inside of the units we stayed in beach bungalow style? If you are looking for a prestine room service hotel enviroment this is not your place to stay as the property is not staffed full time. If you want clean and enjoyable place to stay and decompress this might be what you are looking for. The only negative would be this place might want to install curtains or better blinds.
