The Westin San Jose is a historic hotel with a beautiful building and convenient downtown location. Guests generally appreciate the cleanliness, comfortable beds, and friendly staff. However, common complaints include small rooms, expensive valet parking, and issues with amenities such as air conditioning and toiletries.

Very helpful staff, everywhere. And an excellent breakfast, after the wonderfully quite night's stay.

I had a good overall experience at the Westin San Jose. The location is excellent—within walking distance of several restaurants and the convention center, which made getting around very convenient. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff was friendly and helpful. While the rooms are on the smaller side, they were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Overall, it's a great option if you're looking for a convenient stay in downtown San Jose.

Otherwise, staff was nice and room was clean. Bed was comfortable.

Location Shabby in appearance, unclean. First room had an unmade bed. There were no accessories in the bathroom. Carpet stained. Windows dirty. Electric plugs unusable.

Very clean and friendly staff!

This is my go-to hotel when staying in SJ. I love the old charm appeal but with updated modern amenities, particularly, the walk-in shower. The fitness center is very well maintained and kept well stocked with towels, water, and functioning equipment.

Enjoyed seeing the historical hotel saint Claire now operated by The Westin Hotel. Very clean, comfortable room with great access to San Jose downtown amenities.

I was disappointed to be charged an additional $40 per day cleaning fee because I was traveling with my service dog. Ironically, the only item that needed to be changed was the duvet, which I specifically requested to be replaced. Despite my request, I was left sleeping with the same duvet for almost an entire week. I also left tips for housekeeping throughout my stay, yet the duvet was never changed. As someone traveling with a well-behaved service dog, I expected better service and a more reasonable approach to cleanliness and guest care.

Proximity to areas of interest. Classy but relaxed atmosphere. Accommodating staff that anticipates needs or desires. The view outside the window is either an intersection or the back of buildings due to its location. Not every room can face the intersection/park.

Clean room and comfortable hotel but some items ( body wash, facial tissue) missing. Challenging parking options available upon arrival because of abundance of items my daughter needed transported and brought to room. Ended up having to valet at upper level valet charges.

Close to San Jose State University The bathroom vanity was way too small and the bathroom doors didn’t open right.

The pleasant and caring front desk staff, Manny and Mo made up for the hotel's tight, crowded room, old and worn out carpet and stained bathroom tiles. There is no available self-parking area, so you are at the mercy of valet parking staff every time you need your car.
- 0.5/5
Not much, spider webs. Broken shampoo tray. No toiletries that you expect from a 5 star hotel. Last min cancelation fee that was not clearly explain and no flexibility for emergency. No empathy from the general manager sapana.

Mohammad at the front desk was what made my stay great. Very helpful and welcoming. I will always stay at the westin when in down town san jose
- 5/5
Thank you ....very nice
- 4/5
Clean and comfortable room. $50 for valet just for it to be parked on the street where I left it because I was leaving early in the morning seems outrageous. But the car was safe in the morning and it did save time leaving.
- 5/5
Great staff
- 1/5
We arrived and the reception guy was the rudest person Ive ever had to speak to. I asked to add my husbands Marriott number and he ga e me such a hard time! I will NEVER stay there again! So rude! Ive never had an issue until oir stay there. Theb we had to change rooms because our bed had a huge hole! After drivinf 6 hours having to change rooms was horrible!
- 5/5
Clean room and friendly staff. Valet and check in were a breeze! Walkable to dinner and the Civic Center to watch a show
- 4/5
Reception staff should be helpful when my visa didn't work with tap. Rather than laughing at my situation after a stressful trip and tell me there is no other choice than calling ur bank to activate the tap. I repeated that my tap doesn't work and insert the card works but the staff keeping denying saying it won't work. Finally after repeated call: "Can I at least try to insert it?" was able to do it and it worked. I'm a bit disapointed with the staff service. I was in a 3 stars hotel in SFO and they were so welcoming. I guess staff being snob thinking they are highly rated forgot the down to earth basic service quality.
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
Beautiful architecture.
- 4/5
This hotel is old but well kept. I would say it’s historic. Close to many restaurants, clubs and across from the civic center. My check in process was very nice and the staff very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
- 4/5
Only thing I didn’t like was the lack of parking. The hotel did not have parking. It was valet for over $50/night.
- 5/5
Clean
- 5/5
Parking was great and the breakfast and service was fantastic!
- 5/5
The person who checked us in was friendly, the staff would open the door for us when entering and exciting, and overall a nice vibe.
- 4/5
the staff was super friendly and helpful from the moment i checked in to check out. the only downside was i fif not have a microwave in my room so i couldn't heat my food up. the room was very small so the tv couldn't even be in front of the bed it was far off to the side. but other than that the room was fine.
- 5/5
The Westin San Jose is set in a beautiful old building that is just stunning. It was located close many restaurants and museums, so great location.
- 5/5
Clean room nice staff
- 4/5
The condition of the hotel rooms (grout, bathroom) needs attention. The windows were filthy! Location is very good.
- 5/5
Everything you expect from the Westin. Friendly, helpful staff, a beautiful property and stylish, comfortable rooms.
- 4/5
Valet was unprofessional. Except tall curly hair
- 4/5
Staff was Friendly
- 3/5
I booked the room with the expectation that the Westin hotel was among the best in the city. The room seemed clean and everything seemed to be in order and our first night was fine. It wasnt until the following morning, when I went to take a shower that I noticed an issue. In the shower, there was a cockaroach
- 5/5
Great place to stay to watch a Sharks game. Clean comfortable would definitely stay again.
- 5/5
Perfect downtown spot. Convenient with restaurants readily available.
- 5/5
Clean great comfortable
- 5/5
Beds are very comfortable and the staff are amazing
- 2/5
The rooms were small, a lot of things were broken, and I was very upset because I booked three rooms through Orbitz and one of our guests didn't make it the first day so they rebooked the room and keep our charge. Doesn't seem right. Also they didn't notify me even though I was staying on premisis and had checked in for another room.
- 5/5
Overall nice! But of course parking is crazy expensive as for most of the area.
- 5/5
Nice and clean
- 5/5
Smaller room, but comfortable.
- 5/5
Great couples weekend get away
- 5/5
We had ticket to the broadway show and were able to check in early. The staff was great. Great location.
- 5/5
Great stay for a night out in the city.
- 3/5
I gave this hotel the rating I did because there was no valet parking and it was all full. We carried our bags from the hotel across the streets parking lot that was allowing I’m and out customers. We paid $42 dollars for the lot at the Sheraton and the front desk guy said when we came back from dinner to check and see if his hotel was still full! Like we’re trying to carry our bags from across the street and pay an additional amount to park with them. No thanks Hotel was beautiful and the beds were great. When I pay to stay I want it to be a good experience and this was not. Most likely will use a different hotel for our next ball game.
- 5/5
The bathroom was dirty, especially the toilet seat.
- 5/5
Internet was fast
- 5/5
The rooms are a bit old and need tlc. Not a cleanliness issue more so than an old worn issue Location is amazing
- 2/5
I’ve never been to a hotel that was so noisy the entire time. Worst hotel stay by far.
- 5/5
Top notch, very friendly and professional staff. Room was fantastic. Very clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
absolutely perfect. I had reserved at another hotel in San Jose. that hotel at the last minute cancelled my reservation while I was on an international flight from Europe to San Jose . I had a confirmed reservation at the Westin within two minutes of Landing. I had a wonderful stay. il fornaio The in-house restaurant is excellent. I definitelywill return
- 5/5

- 5/5
Great everything
- 5/5
Beautiful room and very quiet!
- 5/5
The room was spotless and extremely comfortable. The gentleman at the front desk very courteous and helpful.wish I had the same same experience at other hotels as yours,I thank the staff for all of their fine efforts from the young man who brought me a water to the security personnel.
- 5/5
Staff was amazing from the valet folks to the people inside helping with checking in. I asked for an early check in and was accommodated. Valet guy let me park in front to unload a few things, held the door open for me, and helped me with my belongings. First time staying at the Westin and I’d definitely stay again!
- 5/5
AMAZING
- 4/5
Very friendly staff. Great restaurant.

Muhammad Was the best
- 3/5
This hotel was just okay if I'm being honest. The lobby smelled, just stagnant and musty. The elevators were down off and on. The window was quite an issue, I had to call and get assistance, which also took awhile. It was centrally located which is nice, but I wouldn't say I recommend. Although, the coffee shop around the corner, Nirvana Soul, was the best honey lavender latte I have ever had!
- 5/5
Nice room with great downtown park view!
- 4/5
All the staff was super helpful and personable! The room was nice overall but we weren't a fan of the fact that the bathroom doors don't have a lock and there's a pretty noticeable gap between them. We had problems with our TV as well but didn't have much need of it anyway. Other than that the room and lobby amenities were clean and nice though!
- 5/5
It was just perfect for a work trip. I wanted to bring the bed home with me
- 4/5
Clean but small rooms, friendly staff
- 5/5
The room was clean, amenities were plentiful, and staff was extremely helpful & obliging because the mini fridge was broken and they replaced asap.
- 5/5
Clean room and comfortsble bed
- 5/5
Awsome
- 1/5
The drain in the shower didn’t work and we found this out when a huge ball of old hair washed into the bathtub while showering. We were told there would be a discount to our room. There was not. In fact, we were over charged and now I have to call to try to fix that issue. Overall, staff was nice but the room we had was awful.
- 5/5
Very quiet. We did not eat at the restaurant so cannot comment on that
- 2/5
There isn’t a parking lot! Only valet parking is available. Room was tiny.
- 5/5
Staff was grwat
- 5/5
We did not eat breakfast in the hotel

Was a great trip.
- 5/5
Did not have breakfast
- 4/5
The room was relatively clean and the gym facilities were good.
- 5/5
Clean rooms. Late checkout available. Super courteous front desk staff
- 5/5
Staff was courteous. Clean room. Comfortable bedding. The room was a little small but had a great view of Christmas in the Park. There was as a storm that evening but we didn’t hear a thing from our room. Had a great stay.
- 3/5
Staff was great for the most part. Upon arrival we had two knocks on our door; one from a maid who seemed like she was lost and another staff member looking for the luggage cart. The bathroom could have been cleaner and the shower water temperature was not easily regulated. My husband, my kids, and myself had to take showers that were too hot or too cold.
- 4/5
Staff was great. Always love staying this historic hotel. The room did have a buzzing noise that we couldn't locate. Husband was annoyed at that. We left the front desk know. Room was clean and the restaurant Il Fornaio was wonderful as well. Overall great stay! We'll be back!
- 4/5
Everything was great except for a couple of things...
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
When I arrived on Wednesday night the woman at check-in treated me like gold. I loved
- 5/5
The stay was great, the food was great, the location was great, the people in the hotel were great, the room was great.. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- 5/5
Everything!
- 4/5
The staff was friendly and accommodating. I wish there were a few more dining options and a sundries shop.
- 5/5
Every one that worked with us was great. The door man to the desk clerk to the gentleman that helped us with our bags. The location was very good for downtown SanJose, a lot of things within walking distance. We would stay here again.
- 5/5
Went smoothly
- 5/5
This was a great place to stay the location was convenient and right in the heart of downtown
- 5/5
The room was clean. Staff was helpful. Didn't have breakfast.
- 5/5
Coffee was plantiful
- 3/5
The heater didn't work on one of the coldest days. Probably won't be back.
- 5/5
Nice clean room, courteous staff and easy parking.
- 4/5
Great Location. Nice Hotel. No Parking however, needing to use Valet.
- 5/5
Room was spotless when we booked in, Staff was nice and helpful.
- 5/5
The room was clean and comfortable, cozy and pretty.
- 4/5
Only problem is the shower was not convenient for me shower head should be regular not waterfall type. The bed was comfy I will probably stay again. Thank you.
- 5/5
The front desk personnel was fabulous and so very helpful!
- 5/5
I stayed one night at the Westin San Jose and one night at another nearby hotel. The Westin had better customer service, better elevators and a better bed / shower.
- 5/5
Staff was great, they were able to accommodate an early check in
- 5/5
Check-in was easy. Staff is very pleasant. Room was very nice and clean. Would stay there again.
- 4/5
Lovely room - great location
- 5/5
The Westin is a lovely hotel with old world charm. It is a perfect location for enjoying an evening at the theater. Rooms are clean and bed very comfortable. 5 stars

Beautiful hotel. Room was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Amenities were nice. Loved the gym.
- 5/5
Clean room, great staff!
- 5/5
Was greeted with a big and welcoming smile. Loved that this older property was so well maintained and the history preserved. Room was very clean. Dining options so close.
- 5/5
Staff was so helpful. The room was clean and well-stocked. Great location for walking to SJSU, restaurants, and shopping.
- 5/5
The staff went out of their way to be kind. The room was spotless and the bed was comfortable.
- 5/5

- 5/5
What a great stay in San Jose. It was the perfect location for restaurants , drinks & close to the airport. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room service had great options and super fast. I would highly recommend.

- 5/5
Staff was always helpful and kind. Room was nice as well.
- 5/5
WAS WELCOMED AT FRONT DESK THAT I WAS A RETURN VISIT
- 4/5
Very nice place, a converted old landmark hotel. Decor a bit drab..could use brighter, more under-looking hallway carpets & paint. Just seems a bit dated, but rooms, restatements, and facilities very nice.
- 5/5
Check in was quick and staff was super friendly and helpful. Room and bed was comfy and woke up to a quiet morning.
- 4/5
I would give a 5 star, but there’s no continental breakfast or even coffee in the lobby and you have to either pay $51 a night for the valet parking or right across the street. It’s $33 a night.
- 5/5

So clean. Loved the Italian restaurant for room service. Will definitely stay here again!
- 4/5
Clean and quiet room.
- 5/5
I have always loved the comfortable beds at Westin Hotels! I sleep so well!
- 5/5
Clean and we'll located
- 5/5
Was in town to see a concert in the park and having the hotel right across the street was very convenient, also enjoyed having a place to eat close by that we didn’t need to drive to was excellent. Highly recommended, particularly if you’re going to one of the park concerts
- 5/5
Amazing!
- 4/5
The property was centrally located, clean and the front desk folks are friendly and welcoming. The valet works well and the workers are friendly and helpful, but it’s too expensive for an overnight parking fee. The rooms were small and need updated.
- 5/5
The overall stay was perfect
- 5/5
Great top to bottom
- 5/5
Loved the coffee option in the room, choice of pillows! The bathtub had no plug so unable to bath. The makeup mirror had dead batteries and unable to use.
- 4/5
Great front desk staff!
- 5/5
Air conditioner needs improved because there’s sound in the evening
- 5/5
I was nervous because the reviews of this hotel are not so great, but I thought that is completely unwarranted. We had a nice room with a really nice bathroom. Staff was super nice checking me in. The location is very convenient.
- 5/5
No parking was slightly inconvenient, but nearby parking lot was fine.
- 2/5
Other than that, it’s a dated property but quiet and neatly maintained for what is a busy portion of San Jose business and commercial district.
- 5/5
We really appreciated how clean and quiet our room was, and the staff was extremely nice.
- 4/5
Room was good for a couple. More than 2 people would've been way too crowded but for us it was comfortable room and walking distance to local activities and restaurants.
- 3/5
Beautiful hotel, but it was so noisy at 2am. The front desk handled nicely, but our sleep was ruined after being awaken.
- 5/5
Beautiful facility! Will certainly be back. Great staff and the restaurant on site was delicious.
- 5/5
Nice, clean, quiet and comfortable hotel. Room upgrade was great!
- 4/5
Everything was great! Parking was extra and cost us an extra $51 and across the street. Should've included the parking in the price and then we could've decided if we wanted to stay there.
- 5/5
Clean room. Light upgrade. Friendly service.
- 5/5
We loved that we could walk to eat and entertainment. We stayed the whole time in the local area.
- 4/5
Great location in downtown, easy access to dining and concerts. Only complain was woke up to spider bites, a few.
- 5/5
Upon arriving at the hotel, they opened the door and assisted us with the check-in process. They offered us water and explained that they had everything we needed. I was thoroughly satisfied with the service I received.
- 5/5
Our truck is too tall to ballet park but we park across the street so we can see from our window
- 5/5
Great
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
Parking to expensive..
- 5/5
Nice hotel in downtown San Jose.
- 3/5
The bathroom is not very clean, and valet parking is very expensive
- 3/5
Rooms felt fairly outdated and the hotel itself just was very below any other Westin we've stayed in.
- 5/5
Its an older property, but that makes it all the more beautiful too.
- 5/5
Very nice hotel. Room was clean and comfortable.
- 5/5
Everything just perfect! Highly recommended.
- 5/5
Affordable, comfortable, great service
- 5/5
Really lovely hotel, exceeded expectations. Some reviewers say the room and bathroom are small, but i’m more focused on cleanliness and furnishings not being outdated. My kiddo now attends SJSU (walkable) and this location was great. I will happily book here again in the future. Gym was also nice. Complimentary kurig coffee in the main lobby.
- 5/5
10/10
- 3/5
Stayed for 2 days for my cousins wedding. Overall ok. The lobby near the elevators in lobby smelled strongly of sewage- the valet closes at midnight having to leave my car in the st aftr paying $50 to overnight it in a “lot” front desk staff was nice, valet staff was nice. Rooms could be cleaned better- found hair and sheets and comforter were scratchy and stained. Room service breakfast was not great- and expensive since it’s Il Fornaio- overall good location, but will not stay here again.
- 3/5
Sheets had brown stains on them and it was $55 a night to park. Ridiculous
- 5/5
We enjoyed our stay there and the staff was great! Close to the metro. Easy to get to the airport using public transportation.
- 4/5
The property is located in a great spot in getting to the freeway and some restaurants are walking just not as great to do at night!
- 4/5
The customer service was top notch, staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The fifth star got knocked off because there was a cantaloupe sized ominous stain on the fitted sheet. I would have only knocked off half a star for that but i didn't have the option. I would definitely go back despite the sus stain
- 5/5
Great place to stay
- 5/5
The hotel staff was friendly and efficient, quick check in and check out. Room was on the smaller side but was clean and bed/bedding was clean and comfortable. Nice location.
- 5/5
Super clean & very nice staff.
- 5/5
Only valet parking is availability for hotel guest.
- 5/5
The beds were very comfortable and clean . The restaurant was excellent
- 5/5
Friendly staff
- 4/5
The staff was very friendly and capable. If I needed a quick and convenient stay in the city, I would stay here again.
- 5/5
I would recommend to anyone, it’s just that great.
- 4/5
Everything good
- 3/5
Room is small and parking is very expensive $50 per night
- 4/5
Good, but valet parking is too expensive
- 5/5
The front desk lady was very welcoming
- 5/5
Parking is inconvenient and room too small . Pillows are not comfortable making back pain
- 5/5
They were great! Polite staff! Very honorable cleaning staff! Found out I lost a close friend that morning and accidentally left a considerable amount of cash out. When I came back at the end of the day it was still there. Room clean and all cash still there! Thank you!!
- 4/5
Parking isn't great, either a public lot a couple blocks away or valet for which you need to text ahead. Room service has four taxes & fees to add to the already expensive, mediocre food. A $31 bowl of pasta ended up being $47.
- 5/5
Great location and comfy bed!
- 5/5
beautiful place
- 1/5
Had gone by to see if a room was available and they didn't accept cash so my fiance and I went to the bank to deposit money. We booked the room while walking back to the hotel which came out of my account and to only have them decline my stay due to the lack of a $250 deposit. I don't ever remember paying that much in my past stays at the Westin. I generally know all the staff and enjoy staying there with my fiance. None the less get refunded and slept on the streets with my fiance in the cold. I could have stayed somewhere else and only paid $1 deposit.
- 5/5
Great stay!
- 5/5
The only issue is the parking.
- 4/5
Ac not working
- 5/5
Very accommodating gave me 1pm checkout
- 4/5
The room was nice. Hotel is definitely vintage looking. Though some little things can be improved like cleanliness on countertops in the bathroom and Wi-Fi, my tv keeps cutting off due to it.
- 5/5
Great staff. Early checkin
- 1/5
The room was really small for the price
- 5/5
Great stay
- 4/5
Parking options are limited
- 5/5
Architecture is beautiful, parking is expensive nearby, great places to eat nearby
- 4/5
Comfortable bed and centrally located however the appliances were inoperable
- 5/5
The bartender and server (same) was professional and made the evening outstanding!
- 5/5
Great neighborhood for nightlife
- 1/5
I was accused of smoking in my room and charged an outrageous fee. I’ve never smoked a day in my life. Seriously unbelievable!!
- 5/5
Had a wonderful 1 night stay!!! Can't complain about a thing. Restaurant was nice as well, courteous staff, very friendly and everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed their food and cocktails.
- 5/5
They upgraded us toa suite 100 it was awesome
- 2/5
Staff was amazing. The hotel needs updating and cleaning. Our entire trip there was dirty dishes in the corner in front of our door. They were there when we checked in 😩
- 5/5
Stayed one night - very nice property centrally located. Would stay again.
- 5/5
The staff were superior. Very close to the convention center and a park across the street to walk my dog. Would stay again. Took a bit to find places to eat.
- 2/5
The first two days was hot and didn't have a working ac. Front desk told us it'll be fix but nothing. Then decided to tell us it's motion sensor which was a lie
- 5/5
Very nice people
- 3/5
Hotel is great. Clean and Hospitable staff. Overall experience is great at the hotel itself. Only dislike is that there is only paid public parking available around hotel. Do not need 24 hour parking for a standard one night stay. Should be accommodated with some validation by hotel for guests.
- 3/5
When was super tiny
- 5/5
Beautiful hotel , very accommodating.
- 2/5
Hotel was decent, very small room. The valet is a joke. prepaid on spothero, my 17 year old drives up and they tell them they have no more spots…so I come downstairs and it’s a different story. Trying to scam a kid makes you lose my business. Never again will I be staying there.
- 5/5
Loved it. Perfect for one night.
- 5/5
I always stay here when I have concerts at SJ CIVIC or need meetings.
- 5/5
I am always welcomed by name by Denise at the front desk. Her and Manny are always incredibly friendly and helpful. I always look forward to seeing them. I will definitely will be back because of the excellent service I receive at your hotel. Thank you so much!

It's a over 100 year old property and Westin did a great job fixing up. Food was okay in restaurant had filet was not the best I've ever had, most disturbingly and I don't believe in this stuff too much, kept hearing noises right when I was falling asleep and in reviews found out this area of town is the most haunted area. And this property has been known for aberrations, and sounds I slept two to three hours a night because of knocking various noises doors closing kind of creepy we were going to stay another night and decided against didn't feel scared just annoyed we were being kept up. If you like haunted this is the place for you, however I will not be staying here again.

The valet parking is a pain to pull up to but the staff was super nice. Valet is around $50 bucks with in and out privileges which is awesome. Pillows were awful and the cable tv from the early 2000’s was a joke.

Staff is very lazy however what bothered me the most is there is no self parking as advertised and overnight parking is very expensive for being in San Jose

We had previously stayed at this hotel a few years back, and we had such a lovely staff with lots of options around the area. This time around, hotel was very outdated, staff were not approachable. The area was very dirty and appeared unsafe at dark.

AC didn’t work well in our room. We like to sleep with cool air. Temp was 74 upon our arrival (approx 10pm) and only dipped down to 72 by morning. Our sleep sucked. Only stayed one night.

I enjoyed my stay at the Westin. It’s an older hotel but is well taken care of. It’s only a few blocks from San Pedro Square where there are plenty of restaurants. I was able to find a parking lot a few blocks away that charged $20 to park over night.

The bathroom smelled like mold/sewage, like air was backing up through the sewage line. We arrived late at night so didn't ask for a room change. Had to shut bathroom doors and keep fan on to lessen the odor. The room was clean but smell was pretty strong.

The hotel bathroom was musty ,hard water buildup, and looked like it needed to be remodeled. You can hear the noise from the streets like homeless people yelling . Not much going on in the area of the hotel
