Residence Inn by Marriott San Jose South

I really like the home away from home feel with a kitchenette and sitting room. Breakfast being offered is a plus. The room I stayed in had a musty odor when I walked in and seemed to linger throughout my stay, unfortunately. Seems I may have stayed in an older building or one that has not been renovated yet. The elevator carpet needs major cleaning or replacement. My stay was just okay.

My only complaint is that Marriott does not give points if you make the reservation from a third party. So I missed out on thst.

Breakfast was scant. No bread(bagels only), no hash browns or other potatoes. Scrambled eggs were chunky. Parking fee is bogus. $12 for what, exactly? Not disclosed at time of booking. Bathroom had shabby chalking around tub. Shower control knob was loose and hard to maintain temperature. Curtains near bed were torn. Wine glasses were not clean. Not up to Marriott standards!!!

It was close to the stores The room was ok but housekeeping did a horrible job. There was a knife that was not washed in the drawer, the coffee maker did not have the coffee pot. There were no tissues in the tissue box, the bathroom floor was not mopped, one of the drinking glasses had a chip on the lip i almost cut myself while drinking, the carpet under the table was not vacuumed because there was a piece of candy wrapper along with some dust bunnies. With the price that they charge it was not worth it. This is the worst residence inn I've ever seen.

I appreciate security, especially Dan who made my stay even 10 times better. I love the breakfast and the cookies in the afternoon and an elevator that’s always working. Everything is clean and working properly and all the staff are so wonderful especially the cooks and well I gotta say even housekeeping. They are just wonderful front desk as well ha ha ha just a great place. Can’t think of anything

This was my third time booking a stay at this location and I’ve never had any issues. Area is fairly tidy and quiet. Overall convenient spot.

Breakfast was much better than similar properties I have stayed at. Room was large and well designed. No upcharge for a pet, which was nice! Bed was a little hard. Wi-Fi a little slow.

Unfortunately, they gave our reservation away when they had said it was secured. I have stayed at this property since April averaging 4 nights/week. Writing this review isn't easy as the daytime management here is exceptional, as my incident was at nighttime with the night manager. I was so surprised at how much he just didn't care. We had driven from Santa Rosa, about a 2 hour drive arriving at about 10:30. No suggestions or attempts to help us find a new hotel, they said that since we booked through a 3rd party, we needed to speak with them. Too bad this had to happen I guess financial gain over customer service takes priority. . . beware of the night manager. . . the security guard was more sympathetic when he approached us in the parking lot while we were trying to figure out where to stay, he was the one who suggested the Residence Inn in Morgan Hill just a short drive away. Again, this is just a heads up if you are going to be late for your room and you don't reserve via Marriott. The day staff is 1st class and always very accommodating, it only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch. I'm hoping that the hotel takes this into consideration as I have to believe this has happened before.

Kitchen staff is so nice and Bea and Bernice and Amelia are stars. They upkeep the kitchen and dining area so well. Kat at the front is absolutely amazing and she is very friendly. Janelle at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. Great place to visit

Check in was quick and easy. Rooms are located around the center courtyard. Stairwell seems to be the common access to upper floors. Though there are elevators. Room was comfortable and quiet with kitchen amenities. Worth the stay and would consider staying again if in the area.

Manager Rita was no help at all. She made me want to check out early instead of staying there another night. The room was nice, clean and purposeful. Bathroom was nice and clean. The manager Rita tho is the person that made the stay overall terrible. Won’t stay there again

Shower made a high pitched squealing noise through entire shower. And they charged for parking $12 a night which in my opinion at the rate the room was charged ($177) it should’ve been free! Won’t be staying here again.

My only comment is that I noticed that the corridors and stairwells were dirty on a couple of trips, stains etc. I only bring this up as I know everyone is busy. I have been staying here for a while so I know it will get the proper attention; it is just for those 1st timers that are passing through. See you soon!

The front desk staff always goes out of their way to accommodate you and then some. I’v been staying here 3-4 days per week for the past couple of months so I should know(Ha). Oh, and the group handling he complimentary breakfast is first class! So, give them a try!

I personally like this hotel, so I always look for it wherever I go. This branch looks a bit old. The furniture and shower room in the room are a bit different from those in other areas. There is drinking water provided, but it's a bit disappointing that there is no water here.

The front desk staff were very efficient, knowledgeable, friendly. Too bad for them, of their two front-desk computers, one of them was always broken. The breakfasts were filling with decent variety. Unfortunately, the bathtub was moldy. The bathroom smelled of mold. The sleeper couch was extremely uncomfortable. The desk lamp cord was taped up with electrical tape. Kind of seemed like a fire hazard.

The room was nice and clean everything 10/10 only disappoint was the breakfast you expect a good breakfast but this lacked from what I’m used to for a residence inn hotel no fruit nothing but eggs sausage bread so the breakfast fell short

At first I was going to rate the stay as excellent, then we opened up the sofa bed. We are a family of 3 so we need a sofa bed for this stay. When we open it up the mattress was stained and had food bits in it! It was only a one night stay and we got it late so we didn’t ask for another room since we just wanted to get to sleep. Otherwise it was a good stay, breakfast good and the staff made sure everything was stocked at the buffet as they kept bringing the food out. So if you don’t need a sofa bed it’s a nice stay.

Breakfast was really good, room was clean and well appointed, Staff was helpful. The room's view was of a dank looking ally full of weeds, it was a little creepy. A single female might want to choose a different room.

-We were located next to a building entrance door (147). The door rattled the wall at the head of our bed when it closed. And it was noisy. Sometimes it creaked like a casket opening in an old Dracula movie. Overall we enjoyed the stay.

I enjoyed my 2 night stay and would definitely return. The location is close to the freeway and across the street from a gas station and a grocery store, so very convenient. The staff was polite and accommodating - I very much appreciate the hospitality from the front desk, housekeeping, security, and breakfast attendants. I love having a kitchenette and that the hotel is pet friendly - Residence Inn is great for that. The hotel room decor is slightly dated and could use refreshing, but the cleanliness and hospitality more than made up for dated styling.

TV didn’t work or no instructions given. Reported but not fixed by check out. No ice machines. Had to go to office for ice. Machine kept in back room behind front desk.

The toilet is not flushing. Had to go to the nearest Starbucks to use restroom. People upstairs were walking all through the night which kept us awake for most of the night.
