DoubleTree by Hilton San Jose

At first look, a beautiful property, nice lobby , multiple restaurants and a gift shop. But it was a different story past the elevator. We stayed on the 4th floor, it was very outdated and seemed like a completely different hotel.

The staff at the hotel was good. I had issues with my room and they helped me with changing rooms which made my stay pleasant. That being said, the hotel is not very clean. One entire corridor smelled like sewage. I went to use the bathroom in the lobby this morning and their was no soap at any of the dispensers and the restroom had not been cleaned yet. Also, there was blood on the bathroom floor carpet in my room. Hotel need to update desperately!

I have stayed here over the years My room was fine but generally the property is declining due to wear and tear Lobby and corridor rugs are worn out and stained. Spencer’s Steak House is closed. Dinner dining is now at the lobby bar. Breakfast way over priced at $35 and parking also .

Everybody and everything was excellent. It may not be a five star hotel but it makes you feel like it is. The staff is really nice respectful and helpful very clean and the number one thing is they have the best cookies ever when you ask him in the front.

This property has aged a lot, and it has not been remodeled to stay up with current standards… The electrical outlets in the room did not work. It was very sparsely decorated and carpet everywhere so it made it a little more challenging to roll the suitcases… It’s location is fantastic. It’s time for a refresh.

Totally disappointed in the food and restaurant availability! The restaurant was closed no other choice really for food. We finally ordered our food delivered by grub. The rooms are old and tired the whole hotel needs renovation. The Double Tree is still the best place to leave your car if your going to be traveling and flying out of San Jose airport.

The hotel itself is on the older side. The rooms were decent, but some areas of the property could use better maintenance. For example, one of our room locks didn’t work properly, and another door had to be lifted to open. The hallways also had an unpleasant odor at times. \Service was a bit hit or miss. While a few staff members were helpful, others came across as less welcoming. When we brought up some of the room issues, it seemed like they were already aware but not overly concerned. \We were there during a dance convention, so the hotel was very busy. The only dining option available was understaffed, and the on-site steakhouse wasn’t open during our stay. They do offer complimentary water and a warm cookie, which is a nice touch, although service around that felt inconsistent. Parking is $32 per night, uncovered, and without visible security. Overall, the stay was okay, but it didn’t quite meet the standard I typically expect from a Hilton.

The Doubletree in San Jose was excellent. Unfortunately, when we were there, it was raining so we didn’t get to use the pool as much as we wanted to. But that was not anything to do with our experience in terms of the staff. the amenities are great. The rooms are great. They are a little bit outdated. Maybe it was just the room that we got. But you cant ho wrong with s double tree. The price is fair. It’s it’s great compared to other hotels and the amenities are amazing. The staff was great. They were great with my little one. Made sure we had cookies everyday. Very helpful just very customer service oriented very very happy with our stay

Hotel needs a major renovation. Room did not even have a fridge, and the TV was old and small. Overall, the cleanliness of the hotel is amazing, However the rooms are old and outdated. Hotel offers Starbucks coffee, but it was closed all the days I stayed. Staff is amazing.

One of staff, a black gentleman, is so rude. I had a question regarding parking discount but, not only he gave me a wrong information, he talked to me very rude. He Stopped me mid sentence, speaking in a condescending way. Later I found he was wrong. Furniture and carpet in the room was very old and dirty. Overall, terrible stay

This place was ok. Close to the airport and short drive (~10-20min) to good restaurants. The room was old and could use some updates. Many outlets didn’t work. Musty carpet and lighting. Would probably not stay again.

The front desk phone was always busy, they always pick up the phone and ask me to wait because there are other customers who are in front of me. Also they agreed to send new TV remote batteries to my room, but they never did. And no one could give me a clear answer whether the just happen to not have run out of complementary shower caps or they simply don’t offer them.

The staff were friendly and helpful. They kept their cool during the power outage and did their best to calm anxious visitors. When the power went out and I went to the first floor to pick up our DoorDash, I discovered that the stairs lead to an outdoor door labeled emergency exit only. I had to go outside and walk around the building to get to the front desk. The emergency label was intimidating so I tried several stairwells before having the courage to walk outside. It also would have been helpful to have had the ability to notify all the hotel guests why the electricity was out and the expected length of the outage.

Proximity to the airport with shuttle service. We got there Thanksgiving evening and the bar was open and the food was delish. I dont recall the bartenders name, he was there the last time we came but he gave excellent service. It could use better pillows

This is the very first Hilton brand hotel I’ve stayed at, that felt like a two star property. The place deserves a remodel. The condition of the rooms are out dated and sad, but it is still clean. Breakfast at Sprigs is also very bad, and there are a lack of options nearby. For the same price, we could have just stayed at Hyatt.

I have been going to this hotel for almost two decades for conventions. The hotel has nice amenities for sure, and a good layout for events. On the bad side, they have never replaced the increasingly worn carpet in the rooms, the faded decor, and it is starting to look dated as a result. They have also increased the cost of parking, gotten rid of mini fridges and microwaves, and want to charge you for those now (if microwaves are even available, I only rented a once complimentary fridge for $15.) Guess they are going along with the trend of Silicon Valley: less service for more money, more apps, more b.s.

Convenient location, shuttle was on time and convenient Parking used to be included in the nightly cost. We weren’t aware of that and receptionist was charging us daily rate until someone in the restaurant suggested going online to get $10 a day.

I do wish that when I was paying for the extended airport parking of $12 night, that price would have been extended to the night prior instead of being charged $30 for parking on the night we stayed in the hotel.

This was the noisiest stay I have ever experienced. We were in Room 257 and the decibel level from the freeway noise was unbearable. Suggest the hotel check the decibel level on that side of the hotel.

The lobby area, restaurant, gym, and pool were all fantastic spaces. Our family spent a lot of time in the pool and had a great time. The staff was helpful and the place was clean. The rooms and hallway (3rd floor) were pretty outdated with some pretty visible carpet stains but as I said, it didn't seem dirty just old. The halls and rooms could use a remodel but this was still a fine place to stay close to the airport.

I was only there overnight so cannot review all the facilities. My main complaint was the smell of marijuana in hallways and the hotel needs renovating. I would not walk on those carpets with bare feet. The room was clean so that was nice.

Doubletree staff are always good but as a property, it is a shadow of its former self. The steak restaurant is closed and the food menu is limited for such a big hotel. “Tired” is probably the best way to describe this former buzzy hotel - most likely a symptom of less activity in the area generally.

Honestly the room was okay. It didn’t have a mini fridge, the shower sucks. The room was really hot but the housekeeping service was good. They were fast and friendly. The room for a king room was not the best but the housekeeping services were the fastest I ever experienced. They didn’t have a mini fridge and the housekeeping person who brought it was nice and made sure the fridge worked before leaving my room . The woman who brought extra blankets and the toothbrush & toothpaste was a fast and a sweet heart.

Upon arrival, the service was great at the front desk. The room itself was a bit dirty but okay. We checked out the dining area the first night and were left a bit offended by how stand offish everyone was. It The hotel caters to those who are staying for business in my opinion. We didn’t feel welcome at all. The next day I was a bit confused on how to contact staff for minor things. I used the number to text the front desk but it seemed to only upset them. I misread one of the woman’s texts about cutlery. I ended up going down to clarify and she spoke to me in a very condescending tone and was quite rude. I had never been to that location and was merely trying to get the lay of the land. I’m so disappointed in my stay. It was supposed to be a fun and relaxing two days but ended up being uncomfortable in many instances.

It’s so convenient, They do park and stay and have shuttle to airport but this Will definitely be our last time. This property is so run down and rooms are trash! Beds are the absolute worst.

There was some type of car show/party at the entrance which took up several parking spots we had to pay for, very disappointed. The next morning the front lobby entryway looked like a frat house with empty alcohol containers, it looked very bad!

They should at least change the carpet or something.. the building itself smells so old especially when you enter to the room / hallway... its just not feeling clean at all...

We have booked a room with breakfast included. When in the hotel- the staff refused to honor the reservation conditions and demanded that we paid for the breakfast. The fact that the included breakfast had been listed in the reservation confirmation hasn't made any difference. Would suggest booking somwhere else.

Great staff! Stayed here a number of times and the check in had always been easy. The folks at the bar/restaurant are always gracious as well.

The hotel needs a remodel for sure! Cleanliness was horrible! The group we went with found bed bugs. The pool outside was not well lit I actually slipped and fell into a palm tree. We normally go every year to this hotel and it seems to have gotten worse. I found a huge dead bug inside the public bathroom! We wouldn’t have stayed but we were at a convention. It’s unfortunate that service has gone down hill.

The carpet was smelly and they used too much air freshener to try to cover it up. My chair in my room either had a burn stain or a poop stain, I couldn't tell. Never again.

I didn't like being charged for parking. It added $30 to the cost of the room. The last time I stayed there it was free. Aside from that I like it quite a lot, but that alone will be enough to make me look elsewhere.

Chose lication for airpirt parking; sold out so had to pay $30. for overnigjt to park at airport. Then key doesn't work; go down to desk and they then said turn handle up (not down) to work - a heads up would have been nice.

The transport was terrible, we missed our flight but were lucky enough to find a spirit airline associate to rebook our flight for free the following day. Our return flight was delayed but a good flight, then had to wait an hour and a half for the shuttle from the embassy suite hotel parking to pick us up. We were tired after a four hour delay then having to wait that long to get to our car was very disappointing to say the least. The driver blamed traffic. Traffic at 7:30-9:00pm isn’t that bad. Other hotel shuttles had come and gone. Some twice. Don’t know what the problem was but totally unacceptable.

We had a very good stay here. The hotel was quiet and clean. Considering how close we were to airport, we didn’t hear a thing in our room.

Our room and floor looked a little tired and like it needed to be upgraded I was annoyed that there was no mini fridge in the room and no ice machine on our floor. The bed wasn’t very comfortable although the pillows were. Had a nice hot shower. Check in and check out was easy.

The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating. They have a small dinning area near registration overlooking the pool that offers sushi for dinner and breakfast choices in the morning, both of which were excellent.

The hotel was very dirty and looked like it has not been renovated in years. The bathroom has brown stains on the ceiling and brownish water dripped down.

Hospitality was incrediable

Hmm well, there was a pair of dirty underwear under the edge of the bed. Wow. My bathtub faucet dripped and would not turn off. Fortunately, the white noise from the freeway would drown out the dripping faucet. There are places where drywall is falling off, carpet is coming up. Very clear that maintenance can’t keep up with the failing infrastructure of this aging out building. I was only there for a conference so I had no choice but I can’t recommend this property.

Had a great experience and the staff is top notch. Facility is a little outdated, but still comfortable and has everything I needed. Was pretty central and easy to go out for dinner in the area.

On the first day, we found empty cigarette, wrappers, and gum wrappers in the cabinets. On the next day, as my child was about to sit on the armchair, I noticed a utensil tucked in the corner, which happened to be a knife! Imagine my horror when I unearthed it. We wrapped it and took it down for the manager to see. How can housekeeping miss such obvious things? We did not feel safe at all after this incident.

Nice place but old facilities

The staff was great but the rooms while spacious lack basic conveniences like a mini fridge- you only get that if you pay extra for a higher floor which is silly. The. The ice machine on the floor we were staying one was out of order and well as the ones on the floors above us and below us.

We are going to get with American Express to convert all of our points to miles. No more Hilton for us at this point.

The hotel is pretty standard, dated, and cold. My bath drain was blocked too. Most frustrating of all though was I have been unable to get a receipt for the parking. I dont know what its so hard. As it was a work trip I am unable to claim the costs.

This property was super close to the airport and super easy to jump on the shuttle and get to an early flight.

This hotel needs to be torn down and rebuilt. I cant believe in 2025 how outdated and disgusting this place is. Theres mold in the bathrooms, the carpets are outdated and stained, the drapes are same as the carpets, the TV is a little 32 inch LG, the bathroom was not clean as there was previous gust hair in the sink and by the toilet. This looks like a place where one of those 70s porno were filmed. And to top it off, the doors do not shut and lock properly. We did not stay the whole night. Hilton and the double tree should be ashamed in this day and age to have rooms this dirty.

The beds were nice and the facilities nice enough as well. The area around the hotel was pretty good. Very clean. The place needs some updating though. Stains on the ceiling and carpets. Outdated wooden doors that don’t close easily. Stuck patio door. But overall we were happy. It’s not super high end, but it’s a very comfortable place to stay.

I was there for one night and I was glad the property was near the business area I needed to get to. Additionally, it was not far from a charging station and supermarket. Very convenient

We also booked this hotel because of the distance to Norman Minetta airport & the hotel offered a complementary airport shuttle. There were several groups waiting on the single shuttle for airport transfers. Some ended up using a rideshare service to avoid missing their flights. If you are looking for a hotel that offers free shuttle service and a nice restaurant, this isn’t it. You’d be better off staying somewhere else with restaurants nearby and using a rideshare service if heading to the airport.

Convenient to airport, helpful staff. I missed having a micro fridge in the room and please someone, refill the soap in the shower. "Continental breakfast" very basic - I mean, there is little "continental" about it because european breakfasts are way better. It seemed designed to push you to order the full breakfast. And those tiny, weeny butter containers rather hard to open if you have arthritis.Really??.

Cons: parking fee that i did not see until after booking property, parking is limited in front has some on side and in back of property, bed was uncomfortable.

The staff were very nice, the lobby was nice and had a lot of amenities. The gym was also well equipped. Our room was spacious and clean. The hotel is old and only the lobby has been remodeled. The only issue that I had is there was a very foul smell in the hallway as we would walk to our room.

Property was clean but some issues

The property was nice to stay because it was close to the airport and easy transportation to go to the niner game at Levi stadium. But our room was a bit smelly and needed to spray Lysol around our room to get rid of the stench. Figured since the building is old, there were many outdated items in our room. Other than that, service was great and easy to check in and out.

My bathroom could have been cleaner. There was some hair in my shower that wasn’t cleaned. And I mean several long, at least 10-15 inch strands which leaves me believe the shower wasn’t cleaned at all.

Location to the Airport is great. Larger rooms, but very dated. Food at the breakfast was okay. Has a bar in the lobby and a shuttle service to and from the airport.

The beds were nice the rooms very old dirty and not clean rugs in hallways very used dirty and stained. Check in very late 4pm on the website it said complementary breakfast not true. Had to pay for parking $60 a day bathroom not very clean missing soaps no guides for the TV customer service not very friendly day and night shift house keeping very loud jacuzzi out of service

Front desk staff was not friendly and somewhat rude. We were also charged a $56 for an early check in fee which when I called when booking, was not told about so we did not know until we arrived. The key card mechanism to our room door did not work. It would take many many times until we could get it open and it was not our fault, we know how to use the key card. I desperately needed my asthma inhaler at one time and we couldnt get in to get it until several tries. It was a bit frustrating.

My wife had a surgery the next day at 4 am, the night before she was trying to shower and there was not hot water, I called the receptionist and nobody answer, i left the water running for 29 minutes and nothing, then I found out the drawing was clogged with lots of hair. The receptionist answer after 20 min and she told me she was going to send somebody right away. Almos one hour and nobody came. My wife didn’t shower a free her surgery because of that. They fix the water couple hours later but the clogged water still there, the next day it was a lot of noise (construction , repairs) inside the hotel, on my opinion I pay expensive for this hotel so my wife can be comfortable after her surgery but nothing of that happened.

Everything’s inconvenient

We like the fact that it was close to the airport, but it was dirty and the staff didnt know what they were doing, nor did they know their own policies. The rooms were gross, the bed was uneven. I won't be staying there ever again.

Booked this hotel for their shuttle service to SJC. However this service doesn't begin until 5am, there were 20 people in the lobby at 4am trying to find a Lyft/Uber service because of this.

Convenient

The location of this hotel was extremely useful for us. Close to the airport and close to the funeral home we needed to drive to. Service was good and rooms were very spacious. The hotel is dated and could use some serious updating. As mentioned, served our purposes.

This is the second time we checked into a Doubletree Hotel and were not offered a warm cookie. The person who checked in after me was offered a cookie. No service with a smile. Front desk agents need more training on service. I worked in a hotel and always greeted the customers with a smile.

Everything was great. Only 2 problems were 1. Contactless arrival was offline so there was a line of about 6 people to check-in. The staff was great about taking care of it graciously, and three warm cookies was a great treat. 2. TV needed a hard reboot.
