Reviews
The hotel receives mixed reviews with guests appreciating its central location and friendly staff, but expressing concerns about cleanliness, outdated facilities, and noise. Some guests also reported issues with parking and the smell of urine in the lobby.
- Central location

- Cleanliness issues
- Outdated facilities and amenities

The room was as pictured, clean with the essentials. The only downside is their air conditioning, it doesn’t do much so if you’re a hot sleeper it might be rough. We kept the windows open which helped.
- 5/5
Close walking distance to Giants baseball stadium. Excellent control of temperature in the room. Comfortable beds

Helpful staff
- 4/5
The rooms need desperate maintenance. Simply re-caulking the crown molding in the rooms would make a huge difference. The bathroom looked upgraded. The front desk area are nice. Self parking is awesome. You actually leave your car and keys with valet. It is expensive but worth it.

Carpet need to clean or wash and parking is very conjusted

Leaving Room is dated, location is not good for exploring

You’re better off bringing a 3x5 card to fan yourself off than to rely on the a/c. They also seem to give Expedia bookers the bad rooms.

Location was good, rooms were clean. Parking was $50 a number night

The checkin staff were amazing, the room was huge comfortable and so glad we stayed, the Soma restaurant which was attached to the hotel, was an amazing place to ea Our room was close to the elevator which wasn't nice, and the room even though it was wonderful the view was yuck and I think you need more ability to ask if we wanted to be next to the elevator
- 5/5
Great value hotel clean convenient
- 4/5
Very friendly staff, great location. Older hotel but clean, spacious rooms with all amenities such as coffee machine, safe, fridge, iron etc Carpet in the hallwall smells very musty and some of the doors in the room as well as the drawers in chestofdrawers do not close properly
- 1/5
The staff was very nice but the hotels was not properly maintained. I’m surprised at the high reviews based off how the room looked. The carpet and all the walls were very dirty.
- 4/5
Great location, friendly staff, comfortable.

Everything was lovely.
- 1/5
The room was poorly maintained and did not appear to ever be cleaned. There was visible red/orange/black mold on the shower, walls, and even the window curtains. The room had a strong, unpleasant odor, and the floors, tabletops, and dresser surfaces remained dirty throughout my entire stay. Housekeeping seemed to only empty the trash and make the bed. The air conditioning was broken. There was no way to control the temperature, and the room stayed uncomfortably warm. The unit also made a loud metallic banging noise every 15 minutes throughout the night, repeatedly waking me up. The bathroom was in rough condition. The shower contained a permanently attached bath mat that was dirty and unsanitary, and the bathroom door would not fully close or lock. Amenities were extremely limited. Water was not complimentary, there were very few hangers, and when I asked the front desk for a spoon, they didn't even have basic plastic utensils available. The surrounding area felt unsafe, with frequent screaming, aggravated fights, police, and disruptive noise outside the hotel at all hours. Opening the windows wasn't a realistic option to cool the room down because there were no screens, and bugs came in. Overall, the hotel felt neglected, dirty, and poorly maintained. Between the mold, cleanliness issues, lack of amenities, broken climate control, and constant noise, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had.

The property has not been updated for a long time. Location is great!
- 3/5
Extra 60 dollars for valet parking; set up for getting into the parking garage is subpar. Also, no fan in the bathroom. The bar restaurant closes early so beware of that. Front desk staff is nice!
- 4/5
Great place to stay for the night. The bed was comfortable. Room was simple. Shower had no pressure but the water temperature was good. Had to pay for the parking.
- 4/5
Not much unfortunately Very old and tired, carpet was disgusting hallway carpet was disgusting Doorways in rooms look like they could do with a sand down instead of painting over scrapes and scratches Most of everything Unfortunately we will not be staying at the pickwick again
- 4.5/5
The location is very convenient, with easy access to major public transport stops, supermarkets, and several restaurants nearby. Buses from the area provide direct access to popular attractions such as the Golden Gate Bridge. It is also possible to enjoy a pleasant walk to the Ferry Building and Chinatown. Since the property is located right next to the main roads, the area tends to be quite noisy and loud, even during the night.
- 5/5
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The bar was closed when we arrived but it was still early. I had no complaints about the hotel. I will say, pay for parking with the Hotel, not with a third party. Thank you to the staff and management for everything!
- 5/5
Very nice hotel. I will stay here again.
- 3/5
Close to Union Square. Easy walk Hotel was able to store our luggage from 10am. Rooms available after 3pm. Owing to flight change (from 6am Sunday to 11.30pm Saturday) we left at 7.30pm and didn't stay overnight as planned. We were able to shower and have a quick nap prior to leaving for a 15hr flight home so happy with what we got/used at the hotel. No USB ports in room for phone charging which meant we had to unpack suitcase to find power adaptors. Odd smell in room on arrival. We were ablevto open window for fresh air tho.
- 3/5
Stayed here with some friends , stay was okay but rooms need some remodeling and new carpets. Italian restaurant attached was out of noodles and chicken two nights in a row. A/C didn’t work well at all was very hot in room thankfully I had brought a small fan in my suitcase that I was able to put in window to keep us cool at night. Windows are old and did not have any type of screens on them tho. Was woke up several times during the night by sirens and had to listen to loud noise from the bars across the street.

This is a traditional hotel which could use an upgrade but is clean and safe, and has a very helpful staff. The location is excellent if you want to stay downtown, near BART, MUNI, and the cable car. Lots of interesting museums in the area. At a very reasonable price.
- 5/5
I would recommend this hotel for its ideal location reasonable price.
- 4/5
Its charming and gives you a little trip to the past of down town san fran
- 2/5
As soon as you walk in it’s musty and you feel dirty as you walk in. There were two sets of windows and it had dust all around it. The AC had dust all on it too. The bed was good though. Staff was very friendly and helpful. This place needs to be updated and cleaned . I would not stay again and don’t recommend this place.
- 4.5/5
I loved the vintage charm and location. I didn't like the old vintage A/C. Really didn't cool the room down.
- 4.5/5
I didn't like the old vintage A/C. Really didn't cool the room down.
- 4/5
The hotel does the job, but it doesn’t offer anything special. However, for the price in such an expensive city, it’s a decent option. I’d recommend it for 1–2 nights – the location is brilliant and the pay-and-display car park works well. The staff are, of course, friendly.
- 4/5
I had a good stay at The Pickwick. Very clean and staff were very friendly. Would definitely book here again.
- 3/5
There was some trash in the beds when we first got there and online it said that there were queen beds but they weren’t queen size beds they were full size beds

Excelente ubicación y la habitación está bien por el precio. El personal amable. Lo recomiendo es donde siempre me quedo cada año que voy a San Francisco.

Breakfast next door at Zevi’s was excellent, as was the food in the restaurant attached to the Hotel.
- 5/5
Safe, easy to check in, clean, quiet, had a great experience and 0.4 miles from the Moscone Convention center and close to the BART line getting back to the airport. It hit the spot for convenience, closeness, and price!

- 3/5
The rooms were just okay. The walls are paper thin and the rooms could use a makeover - paint peeling off walls, bathtub peeling, handle of sink fell off repeatedly, etc
- 1/5
Hotel looks nothing like the pictures. Do not stay here. The bathroom shower has paint peeling from the ceiling and the shower is stained with dirt. The window didn’t close properly so our room was very loud. Took a shower and the towel was stained with some type of body fluid. The room was just outright disgusting. Spoke to the hotel stay about moving us to another room and they did but it was just a lil less disgusting. Be honest with what your rooms look like today not 30 yrs ago.
- 3/5
The room a clean and nice. But the A/C didnt work and i had to open a window for cold air. The bathroom door doesn’t lock. And the water pressure in the shower is fast. No enough to hurt me, but is flows faster than any hotel showers ive taken before.
- 5/5
Great location if you are taking public transportation. Near BART station, cable car and lots of buses. Grocery store 2 blocks away. No breakfast. Refrigerator in room but no microwave. The bathroom did not have a fan. Beds were very comfy. Easy check in and out. Great hotel for the price. I would stay there again.
- 5/5
Great
- 3/5
Staff was helpful, room was clean, room was close by the elevators and was quite noisy. At first I thought they were remodeling another room and using power tools. The as it got later and the noise continued that I realized it must be the elevator equipment. Also they are not completely transparent on parking charges say $52 per nite which is already pretty expensive.then add on extra fees and taxes what thought would be 104 for two nights ended up being 148 .
- 5/5
I love the feel of an old hotel. View was gorgeous
- 1/5
The photos are misleading. Yes, this is a very old hotel, but it has not been updated to meet the standards that the photos convey. The carpet is uprooting from the floor, the baseboards are falling apart, there were stains on the bedding, hair in the “clean” sink, stains on the carpet, and was very rundown overall.
- 1/5
They charge you $50 to park your car in their garage per day. And if you show up two hours early before the 3 pm check-in time, don't worry, that's another $20. The room is tiny, the TV miniature (only 10 channels!), and the AC barely does anything. We were sweating all night while laying on a hard, uncomfortable bed. DO NOT STAY HERE!!
- 4/5
Beautiful property close to Moscone Center, historic building so not a lot of outlets.
- 5/5
The walls are very thin so you can hear a lot from your neighbour but we had quiet ones so all good :) Really enjoyed our stay.
- 4/5
Nice place. Needed the curtains replaced. No gym
- 3/5
Very small room
- 3/5
Cramped bathroom. Housekeeping was daily, but cleaning not consistent. No creamer in room for coffee
- 5/5
it was clean and staff was very pleasant.
- 3/5
Nice hotel. A little older but clean and safe. Conveniently located
- 3/5
Rooms are small.
- 3/5
This place was ok. I arrived to my room my bathroom wasn’t fully cleaned and our fridge was leaking water and didn’t work. So we asked for a new room the gave us a new one right away which I appreciated. The hotel itself charges 60$ to park in the garage which they said they can deduct from deposit but you can pay cash only 30$ which the front desk was upset about when we were leaving. Overall the stay wasn’t the best but not the worst either.
- 3/5
The place is a bit noisy. Our A/C was rattling and making noise. We were close to the elevator so we could hear the ding every time it arrived. When neighbor's toilet flushed it made a lot of noise. Piping is old. But otherwise no issues. Room was clean. The bed and pillows were fine for me.
- 5/5
An older property but the beds were comfy, no issues with hot water or lift wait times. Close to BART and Cable Car turnaround. The hotel is next to Tenderloin area but that is easy to avoid
- 5/5
This hotel is over 100 years old, but is very well kept, attractive, and comfortable. One elevator was out of order while I was there, but there were not long waits for the other. The adjacent restaurant is excellent, and the attached parking garage is incredibly convenient. I have read reviews that claim the hotel has no air conditioning, but it does (the windows also open if you prefer). I enjoyed my stay in this beautiful historic property.
- 4/5
I saw a mouse while sitting in the lobby area.
- 4/5

- 4/5

- 5/5

- 4/5
Rooms were clean, hotel is a little outdated but other than that good stay.
- 5/5
Best balance between quality and price.Good location
- 4/5
Loved the uniqueness. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Some small things could use maintenance and unfortunately the area of town was not great. But overall good stay!
- 1/5
room was dirty , beds were so uncomfortable was able to feel the springs on the bed
- 4/5
Old hotel but is well kept.
- 5/5
Room was clean. Staff was very nice.
- 3/5
Only thing I don’t like was housekeeping walking to go out room at 8 when check out wasn’t until noon . If I didn’t check out the room they shouldn’t be walking in at 8 am
- 5/5
Nice place for descent price.
- 3/5
The hotel is a bit old, the rooms are small and there are definite signs of wear everywhere. While I don’t mind these things generally, it was not very clean. You could see mold in the showerhead. Overall it was convenient and worked for our visit to the city. I would spend a little more for a cleaner room next time.
- 3/5
The hotel needs to be updated the photos make the hotel look way nicer than what it really is. Water took a while to get hot in the shower, the toliet is older and the overall cleanliness of the room wasn’t the best.
- 5/5
The staff are very friendly. The rooms are small but cozy and comfortable. No microwave but fridge and Keurig. Parking below is expensive so park in the garage across the street but don't leave anything in your car.
- 5/5
Room was clean and staff was nice and helpful.
- 4/5
I would stay here again. The Pickwick’s nightly price was reasonable (unlike most of the other hotels in the area). Convenient location- walking distance to the Moscone Center and Chinatown. Although the building is (over 100 years?) old, it has been well maintained. My room on the 2nd floor was clean (although some permanent scratches on the bathtub made it look dirty at 1st). There were some smells an old building will have, but nothing bad. The mini fridge in the room was nice. Front desk and cleaning staff were very kind and helpful. It was great to be allowed to store luggage at the hotel after check out in order to explore the city. I recommend! :)
- 2/5
This is an older property that has not been well maintained. There were several chips in paint and areas needing to be repainted. The walls are thin and we could clearly hear people in the next room. The bed was uncomfortable and hard to sleep in. I woke up in the middle of the night to a strong smell of Marijuana smoke. Not sure if it cane through the ventilation or from the adjoining room door, but it was as strong as someone smoking in the room. The room entry is cramped and getting in and out of the closet, bathroom, and main door were like a puzzle that made it difficult for two people to get ready to go out at the same time.
- 5/5
Great location! Courtesy staff! Cute hotel!
- 4/5
Breakfast was a coupon for the place next door. Food was good there.
- 3/5
The price and location is perfect, but this building is OLD and you can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig. Couldn’t really tell if the shower was clean and the AC/Heat ancient and outdated. The staff was wonderful though.
- 5/5
friendly staff and great in room service. i will def stay there afain!
- 5/5
The hotel is in a good location and is well kept and secure. I have stayed there a couple of times now and would recommend. You must go to the cafe a couple of doors up as the food is great and staff are amazing.
- 4/5
Location is great --near to all downtown spts and has easy access to transportation options.
- 5/5
For the price , location it was solid .
- 3/5
The Bathroom smells like pee
- 4/5
Hotel is sufficient
- 5/5
It was very chill stay..
- 5/5
Great central location. First time in SF and it was easy to get to and from anywhere via public transport.
- 4/5
Good location, clean, buy the breakfast , good value and tasty.
- 4/5
No breakfast, but convenient and great adjacent Italian restaurant. Minimal services in the hotel but definitely an old world charm.
- 3/5
Hotel was in walking distance to a lot of what I had planned and needed. Room was dated and a little dirty as far as carpet and curtains. Bed was clean. It was an older hotel so it had that feel to it not like all the chain hotels. Price was good for what I needed
- 3/5
Nice staff but it was an older hotel and dated on the inside. Walls were extremely thin and could hear all the neighbors and the rooms were older and in need of update. Great location in downtown San Francisco though.
- 1/5
Upon entering, room smelt like cigarettes.Bathroom door would not close.Air condishioning not working.Beds were extremely uncomfortable. You could hear your neighbors partying, throwing up, and taking a dump.Overall i do not recommend this hotel.Look elsewhere.
- 4/5
Very cute, clean and convenient to our plans. Down fall the homeless were sleeping right outside the doors and the room was very small, then again it is San Francisco.
- 4/5
This hotel is very close to all the big theaters for live production in the city. The streets do have some homeless people in spots, but I felt very comfortable walking around, day or night. It never felt dangerous. It's also close to a Bart Station, (Powell) which was convenient. I got a good rate, and feel it was a bargain. I would stay again.
- 1/5
I booked this room expecting air conditioning as part of the stay. Given the conditions and lack of support, I’m requesting a partial refund or compensation. Please let me know how you can resolve this.
- 5/5
Great location, great price.
- 3/5
Can use upgrades in ALL aspects. Also parking needs to be explained at time of booking, that its a public parking garage, and NOT part of the hotel. Not a pleasant olace to stay!!
- 4/5
reasonable pricing. old facility. passable cleaniness. Hot water adequate. No free water bottles.
- 4/5
Clean room, decent location, comvenient parking.
- 5/5
No pizza oven broken had been for over a week per waiter
- 3/5
The hotel was very well taken care of. The rooms were clean and nice, the bed was on the firm side. For being a very old building everything about it was good! The surrounding area was different, easy to get to the Baseball park if you ride the subway train
- 5/5
Comfy.
- 5/5
Bar was great all the staff were friendly and accommodating.
- 2/5
Very old, broken, the rug was dirtierc than the street, had to wear shoes inside. Just old, unupgraded, dirty and low class hotel. Very friendly staff though. They must upgrade.
- 1/5
Workout room is absolutely horrible. Handles on the equipment are disgusting with layers if sweat and hand dirt. Equipment needs heavy cleaning. Room is covered in dust, hasn't been cleaned in years.
- 1/5
Got this room for my sister-in-law. Not only did she not feel safe there but the room was dilapidated- the walls had extreme levels of peeling paint and the sheets were heavily stained. She didn’t stay the night and I will be contesting the charges.
- 4/5
This is a solid option for being in the heart of SF without paying the exhorbitant prices of nearby chain hotels. I would stay here again. Safe, easy access, and friendly staff. It is smallish, older, but if you need a place to stay that won't break the bank. This is a place to consider.
- 5/5
Room was exactly what we needed -- spacious with functioning A/C, wifi, and a clean bathroom. Building is certainly older and may not be as "chic" as some newer hotels but we loved its charm and ease. Location was great, seating areas around the hotel were great, staff were friendly and helpful
- 4/5
The hotel is very old and it is way overdue for an upgrade snd remodel. Carpets need cleaning tubs need replacing where enamel has been resurfaced and the resurfacing has reached its limit. There aren’t nearly enough places to charge your accessories and none next to your bed. The garage at the hotel charges more overnight than the parking garage across the street something is wrong with that fact. It’s just such a great location and it could be such a great hotel. But it takes money to make money. And I’m not sure ownership is ready for that kind of commitment to its customers.
- 4/5
Room carpet was awful
- 4/5
The hotel is well located. The restroom had a weird carpet in the bathtub and it felt weird stepping on it.
- 5/5
Very friendly staff, making guests feel welcome. Responsible and follow up on guests’ concerns. Facility and equipment a bit aged and could use some renovation
- 4/5
The restaurant never seemed to be opened when I went. Clean. Great staff. Parking garage
- 2/5
The room had a very musky, damp smell. The beds were comfortable. The bar and bar staff were very cool, but it was very expensive for cocktails. No microwave. No view from the window. In fact it was very scary. It looked out part of the roof and pipes. A little scared people from the streets could access it as we were on the second floor.
- 2/5
I wanted to like this hotel for its charm and excellent location, but in my opinion the negatives outweigh the positives. The staff were helpful with dining and public transit info, and the location is great. Yes, the parking is pricy, but it’s SF so I was just happy there was parking. The hotel is old, but well maintained. However the non-functional AC was brutal. The rooms get hot, and there is little to no air movement making the rooms stuffy all day and night. Also, two of us were bitten by bedbugs the first night. Though I didn’t see any major infestation evidence, the mattresses don’t have protective covers and beneath the headboard is incredibly dusty and grimy. Once we realized the bedbug situation, we checked out immediately. We were offered to change rooms, but I wouldn’t have been able to sleep after being consumed the first night. Overall, great location and reasonable rates, but not worth the price of comfort and piece of mind.
- 3/5
The biggest issue that I had there was my check-in time was 3:00 p.m. they didn't have my room ready until 5:00 p.m. and all they offered was a free breakfast. Plus The parking said it was only going to be $40. When I looked back at what I was charged, I was charged $59 for some reason.
- 4/5
Secure
- 3/5
We booked 3 separate rooms. Windows don’t close. One of the rooms did not have hot water.
- 3/5
The pipes in the hotel would bang all night as people took showers. It was really hard to sleep even as it got late. 1:30am and the pipes were still banging in the walls. Bring earplugs.
- 4/5
I found some dirty walls of what looked like fluids
- 5/5
Good value hotel in centre.
- 1/5
Unsure of the cleanliness of the sheets. Headboard and rug had stains. Dresser/ nightstands were obviously unwiped as there were water stains from previous patrons. Walls were paper thin and could hear people’s conversations from the next room. Noisy nextdoor patrons persisted all night. Air conditioner did not work. Blow dryer did not work. There was hair in the refrigerator. Asked to change sheets they did not. If given the choice to come back I would not.
- 1/5
Horrible
- 3/5
The Pickwick is a beautiful older hotel with a lot of character, which I appreciated. Overall, the cleanliness was acceptable and the staff was fine - everyone I interacted with was polite and helpful.
- 2/5
The shower also had extremely low water pressure — barely any water was coming out of the showerhead, which made it difficult to shower comfortably. The location is convenient for downtown, but the hotel itself definitely needs some updating to improve the guest experience. Car parking was $59 additional
- 5/5
Nice Hotel, area is a little rough to walk in at night.
- 5/5
Connected to an amazing Italian restaurant. Was walking distance to the convention center. Parking was across the street in a public lot.
- 3/5
We were next to the shoot was so noisy through the night and the old smokey smell was bad.. Bought the breakfast package…. Food was good, but service was poor. When we gave the host/server our coupons from the hotel he made an annoyed face. Then left us sitting for over 15mins before coming to take our drink order only. The cafe wasn’t even busy. We had coupons to go 2 days but only ate there this once because of the services.
- 3/5
The location was great and the front desk staff were friendly. However, the room was very small and quite old. The door didn’t close tightly, which made me feel unsafe. Considering the price of $85 per night, it was acceptable, but the door security definitely needs improvement.
- 3/5
The rooms are too hot the AC doesn’t work and the rooms are very small
- 2/5
Outdated, dirty, fixtures falling off wall, and TV & AC broken. Front desk made no accommodations or refund for stay, left early.
- 4/5
Clean room, great location, and amazing staff!
- 2/5
The room also had iffy amenities - the pocket door to the bathroom was very difficult to open and close, there is no counter space in the bathroom (just the edge of the sink), we weren't able to turn off the automatic hall light, and the closet wasn't wheelchair accessible because of being so narrow and close to the dresser (the door can't even be closed since it's so close).
- 4/5
It was a perfect.
- 5/5
allowed early check in
- 2/5
The bed is super comfy, Elevator is horrible takes way to long to go up and down stops at every possible floor. FYI Rooms are not sound proof YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING. You have to pay like $55 for parking which makes no sense when your already paying to stay there. I forgot my Nike sweats in the room they said the would call IF THEY WERE found. I’m sure someone kept those new sweats never got a cal back.
- 5/5
The hotel is in a great location to get around in San Francisco.
- 2/5
I was there Super Bowl weekend, 7th February at roughly 6pm I came back to my room and a small rodent ran pass me and under the door. I couldn’t sleep well after that and left the next day with 1 day remaining which has not been resolved. Thank you Brian (Manager) who sent an email but did not sort his offer out. Good luck!!
- 3/5
1 star
- 2/5
Lamp did not work the room was clean, but the mattress was way too worn in. Only stayed for 2 nights and was charged 120$ for overnight parking. I do not recommend this place if you have a car.
- 5/5
The clean room and housekeeping cleaned my room everyday of a 11 day stay from February 1st - February 12th, 2026. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the surrounding area.
- 4/5
Staff was courteous. Rooms were cleaned well.
- 5/5
If you need to just pass the night it's a great option.
- 1/5
this is not a 3.5 star hotel
- 4/5
Bed was super comfortable. Good service.
- 4/5
Staff was friendly. Glad it get something in budget during Super Bowl weekend.
- 5/5
The room was spotless and cleaning staff cleaned my room everyday of my 11 day stay. Excellent amenities location was good and restaurant next door was perfect.
- 4/5
Historic older property but well maintained in the heart of San Francisco.
- 5/5
Very modern room for being such an old establishment. The location was perfect.
- 4/5
Beautiful classic hotel in heart of SF. Only improvement needed is a small coffee shop, or real creamer in the room. Coffee shops a few minutes away, but can't beat coffee in the hotel.
- 4/5
All the staff were very friendly and checked us in early so we were able to get some rest before going to the NFL event.
- 4/5
Downtown San Francisco, crazy pricing but that is how it is. Room was clean, everything worked but WiFi was poor and needs an upgrade. All in all when at a conference at Moscone, its a good choice for a hotel - and a necessary cost.
- 4/5
Clean room; close to other hotels, venues and restaurants
- 2/5
Room was damp, no vent fan in bathroom. The air duct was disgusting. Windows woukdnt open. Super thin walls and ypu could hear everything next door. Shower made a crazy sound when you turned the hot water on. Moulding in the room.was cracked and pld. Smoke detector must have been from 1985 and was yellow. Carpets were dingy and the atmosphere just outside the entrance was rough. Area was less than desirable and cops everywhere. Would not stay here again with my family
- 5/5
The room was great easy access we rented two rooms one of the rooms. The television did not work in one of the rooms. Rooms were clean restrooms were clean. Well kept employees were nice and attend. Answered all questions. Thank you.
- 4/5
Staff was very thoughtful. Rooms need a serious refresh.
- 5/5
Nice Rooms!
- 4/5
Reasonable hotel room and helpful staff. The wifi connection does not lead to password input and no internet connection.
- 4/5
Except the AC plug near the bed has no power, I will rate five stars.
- 5/5
Fantastic Service! Loved my stay!
- 5/5
Recommended for visitors of San Francisco.
- 4/5
First room given smell really bad of mold, I called down to reception and was moved immediately to another room. Loved how quickly it was addressed and taken care of. The only thing I didn’t like was that when I asked front desk if there was anything open around the area to eat I was told “oh I don’t know”. Maybe it’s true, maybe he didn’t know but I think that is something they should know. Just my 2 cents.
- 3/5
Hotel was clean, but just older. Be mindful of location, but hotel is good about needing the room card to enter hotel or get buzzed in. Soma restaurant next door was good!
- 4/5
All was fine. Hotel a bit old but clean. Only issue is that the room was really hot and the AC did not work.
- 5/5
For San Francisco the hotel was great. Bryan and the team did everything to make sure the stay was great.
- 4/5
We stay at the Pickwick often when we go to Giants or Warrior games. It's a very convenient location. The hotel is clean, staff is helpful, and they have parking.
- 3/5
Everyone was courteous but the facilities were a little run down.
- 3/5
The room was good but we had 2 mishaps. First, there was a HUGE ROACH on the curtain, I'm talking like 4 inches long. They did not have staff to come deal with it. Also, the heater in the room sucked, it took forever for the room to heat up.
- 5/5
Clean room. Quaint retro room. Fantastic staff. Comfortable bed. Very convinient to Moscone Center.
- 3/5
The room was cold, being a raining day, the windows were open. Reason is cause the room had a strong smell. In the morning, I made a coffee I soon found out there was no creamer nor sugar. Aside from that, everything else was great.
- 5/5
Nice staff, prime location
- 5/5
Great location, felt safe. Room was nice , comfortable bed. Read that ren
- 4/5
No breakfast
- 3/5
Bathrooms beed updating
- 3/5
Didn’t have breakfast
- 4/5
Room was nicer than expected but there were a few issues. Power went out the last day of our stay until late in the night and there were several paint chips and outside was near quite a few homeless so didn’t feel safe walking out at night.
- 1/5
There was a huge power outage causing us to arrive to a dark hotel. Unable to check in. Had to climb over 7 flights of stairs to a room we had to wait to be let in. Unable to see or get work done due to no WiFi or ability to charge. Was told we would have in and out privileges from parking garage and was denied to leave. Had to pay extra money on Ubers we didn’t budget for. Whole night was a bust. I tried to talk to hotels.com and the manager at the Pickwick hotel and they didn’t give a refund or any accommodation. Super disappointed that I paid to get no work done and further injure my husbands knees on the walk up all the stairs. Horrible experience. Made us feel uncared for and we will not be back.
- 5/5
Yes very nice!!
- 2/5
No power in the hotel. Still don’t have a key card
- 5/5
Room was clean, could use some more counter space in the bathroom, water pressure was good. Good location near to many spots to go. Staff was a bit loud in the hallway in the morning
- 5/5
Everything was excellent.
- 5/5
Amazing Home
- 4/5
Staff was courteous. The washroom could have been cleaner.
- 4/5
We’ve stayed here twice now. The price is great for San Francisco. It is an older hotel. It’s a good location, close to public transportation and feels safe. The staff was helpful when our heater wasn’t working and fixed it right away. We’ll continue to stay here for the price and location.
- 3/5
The room we had was not updated in any way. The heater made a loud banging noise every time it kicked in. The bed was alright, but only one chair in the room. The staff was friendly though and the hotel was safe.
- 5/5
Rooms nice just parking is expensive
- 4/5
We would recommend, at the price.
- 1/5
The room itself was surprisingly noisy and folks in the neighboring room, talking in a normal volume. sounded as if they were in the same room with you. The room also had very poor ventilation/climate control. The thermostat didn’t seem to actually control anything and, to get any ventilation, we had to open the windows and the door to get fresh air movement. Having a vehicle in San Francisco is always a liability, but parking at The Pickwick was especially problematic. The property summary says "self-parking available", but that's not true. Yes, you can drive your car into the adjacent parking garage, but you then have to leave your key with the attendant so your vehicle can be jockeyed around and squeezed in a parking spot in the dirty, cramped garage. When you want to get your car, you give the attendant your key tag and they retrieve it for you. To me, that's not "self-parking"...and it'll cost you $59 a day for the inconvenience. Walking around at night, you get to enjoy watching the “Tenderloin zombies” stumbling around in their chemical-induced stupors. At 6’ 2”, 220 pounds, I found them amusing, but they made my wife (4’ 11”, 100 pounds) uncomfortable.
- 5/5
Great location.
- 5/5
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived a little early and they were able to accommodate us. Room was small but cozy, quiet, and tidy. Bed was comfy. Conveniently located near access to BART and Cable cars, shops, Union Square, and Chinatown. Cons: No usb A or C outlets/ports, so be sure to bring your blocks to plug in and fridge wasn’t cold. These weren’t a big deal for us. Unfortunately there’s a lot of homeless in the city, but we (3 women) never felt threatened. We love San Francisco and would stay here again.
- 5/5
All was great
- 5/5
Staff were all very kind, thank you especially to the valet and the cleaning staff :) close to union square and convenient safe parking, room and hotel are older (est. 1926 i believe) but we were comfortable and cozy. We do wish the heat went up a bit more but that’s because we like to be toasty.
- 3/5
Room was ok some old furniture the bed was comfortable. Main issue was I had dirty hand towels in bathroom
- 1/5
My car front cover driver's side got big damaged at the hotel parking lot. I told them. Nobody could takecare it for now. Expectially parking lot guy did not know how to resolve for this. So please i request you to find out that issue how happened and pay for that. And what i have to keep doing for this problem. Please tell to hotel to check all security cameras in the parking lot . i would like to know whose fault. Thanks
- 1/5
Very old hotel , and very small rooms with no breakfast available.
- 1/5
First of all they charge parking, no heater, no hot water and there makes big noise when you turn on the water.
- 5/5
All good. Had no problems. Room was comfortable.
- 5/5
Friendly staff, clean, nice lobby, fun old hotel in a great location
- 4/5
The building was very old and it showed. The carpet looked like it was old but very clean. The carpet was loose on the floor and it moved as you walked and the windows were very old. I am not complaining because these things added character. The building was clean and quiet for my stay. The oldness made the stay better. It added character. I almost wanted it to be haunted because I found out it was built in 1926. The staff was beyond polite and I loved my stay. The location of the hotel was beyond convenient and I would for sure stay again. The only thing is I did not know about the parking fee. I don’t travel a lot and didn’t know parking was a thing to charge when you are staying at the hotel but that’s my fault for not researching. Brian the manager at the desk was amazing and I appreciate that. Love love loved my stay.
- 4/5
Gym was nearly unusable, small, treadmill not working. Bathroom was tiny, smallest sink I have ever seen, unusable as there was a shelf on top of the sink.
- 3/5
The room smelled unpleasant upon arrival, so we aired it out. The heating never worked, and it was 10 degrees Celsius at night. The room had five windows, none of which were sealed. There were no extra blankets, and we found someone's clothes in the closet. The trash wasn't taken out daily, but housekeeping was done daily. No one spoke Spanish at reception. However, they did their best and provided good service at the counter. Breakfast is not included, as indicated. The facilities are quite old, although they appear to receive some maintenance. The Wi-Fi is 4G, very slow, but it works. Despite all this, the staff was always friendly and helpful, and the room security was impeccable, even with the car parked. Recommended for milder weather!
- 5/5
Room was clean, comfy bed, great bathroom and shower, also. The little fridge worked great and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff, including Brian the manager who was on-site, were all very professional, kind and hospitable. They definitely make each customer feel valued from check-in to check-out. On top of all that, getting to stay in a well- maintained 100 year old hotel is all definitely worth it.
- 3/5
Noisy neighbors and piping noises. Funny smell on the room.
- 4/5
Clean room, attentive staff, old building but clean and great location
- 3/5
Breakfast else where
- 4/5
Great location. An older building even in the rooms. The heater/ac was really hard to control. But considering price, it’s a great ophion
- 1/5
The room didn’t have heat. They ended up comping the parking. I would have rather woken up in a room that wasn’t 54 degrees. Had to pitch a fit in the lobby to get the parking comped, they definitely weren’t inclined to do anything about it. Wanted me to come back after my checkout to talk to some manager who would be in after noon. Refused to move my check out back an hour til 1. Then just checked me out at 10:30 when I left to go do an errand, even though I told them I was coming back and would check out at noon. Pretty bush league
- 5/5
worked out great for what I needed it for. Great location
- 1/5
my partner and were having intimacy around 9-9:30 nothing wild. not sure if the beds are due for a renovation, beds to close to the walls or simply picky neighbors. we were SURPRISED & SCARED with a big KNOCK on the wall like 3 times guessing the bed was making too much noise. we stopped but few mine later around 20-25 min the manager with no questions asked said " you need to keep it down or we will need to ask you to leave!" i was shocked and asked what had happened he said all your neighbors all complaining. i was shocked because were not laud or making a scene. My problem and mad at the property is that they didn't asked me any questions and directly accused of something without any investigation plus i mentioned if it was the next-door neighbor since they knocked on the wall very hard. he said no everyone i was very upset and was honestly forced by the situation to stay there was not going to look for a hotel at 10pm at night. but most definitely will never recommend or be back at that property if there was 0 start i wil give them that made the customer feel in a very hostile environment due to one complaint and no investigation that is very poor service!!! not sure of the managers name but he's a skinny African American guy at the front desk that's all i can remember that he was the one that checked us in our room.
- 3/5
The room was clean and spotless. However, our double queen beds were not double queen, more like full size beds which made our sleep super uncomfortable.
- 5/5
We enjoyed the deep soaking bathtub. Very comfortable and clean. Beds were soft and had an abundance of pillows. The breakfast was fantastic. Good selection, and everything was delicious. Restaurant staff were courteous and attentive. Hotel staff were kind and polite. It felt safe in the hotel. A key card is required to use the elevators. We stayed in an accessible room. The only changes we would recommend would be to also have a microwave in the room in addition to the fridge (which was nice and cold), and that the bathroom could use both some wall hooks and maybe a little table for toiletries. If you’re sensitive to sound, be aware that you do hear city noises, including sirens, and some noise from other rooms. It didn’t bother us. Great location to access Moscone, Yerba Buena, and UCSF. Thanks again, Pickwick Hotel! We will be back!
- 5/5
Comfy, great price. Neighborhood not so great.
- 2/5
Not honest, on website they say hotel has parking for guest. They just don’t tell you they charge 65drls per day.
- 2/5
It was dirty!
- 5/5
Clean, easy check-in, but lacking customer service.
- 5/5
Front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. Room cleaning staff did extra touches during my stay I didn't expect. Location made getting around town easy. I'd come back to this hotel.
- 3/5
The first person who was there was a bit rude but the night one was so much nicer. We were told we would be getting a king size bed but it was a queen. The room wasn’t the most well kept either
- 4/5
.
- 1/5
Unfortunately there were mice in my room tv was not working the mini fridge did not work the power outlets aswell hot water was taking forever to get hot and it also look like the room wasn’t cleaned much
- 5/5
Lovely and kind front desk personnel. Thank you :)
- 5/5
Staff was nice room was clean. Close to transportation
- 5/5
Give them a raise 🌻
- 4/5
I would definitely stay here again. The property was very clean and conveniently located near the Powell bart station. There was a ton of food options nearby, I recommend Central Cafe and Hinodeya Ramen. The AC unit and thin walls were my only issues. Definitely an old SF boutique style hotel which is what I have learned to expect and enjoy when visiting the city!
- 2/5
Old hotel, dirty and stinky carpet.
- 2/5
Oh boy where to start. To begin with, you are in San Francisco which right now it's -100 stars. You are greeted with one way streets and homeless or better yet, the unhoused.... They have a small parking under the hotel that is super dangerous getting in and out and it's $50 a day to park there. So if you thought you were saving money, you are not. Now let's move to the inside. Every thing is old and the theme is loose. The most amazing thing is the shower. Yes, the shower. The waters comes in a never ending cycle of cold, warm, warmer, hot, warmer, warm, cold and so on. So you have to time what you are washing. There is a muggy old smell inside. First time and last time.
- 5/5
The hotel was nice for being an older hotel, you could tell there was some history there. When I arrived Jamil (sorry if I spelled that wrong) was great, friendly and he answered all my questions and was helpful and informative.
- 5/5
Nice staff, old room
- 4/5
The staff was courteous and helpful. The room was clean and "charming", the hotel being built
- 5/5
Fridge. Keurig coffee pot
- 5/5
NA
- 5/5
Room was clean, cool building. 1 mile walk to my business meetings. I felt safe walking. I would recommend the Pickwick to anyone else.
- 5/5
Very good service!
- 5/5
Very good services and feel comfortable thank you
- 5/5
good
- 5/5
The front desk staff were very friendly and courteous as well.
- 2/5
Small cramped rooms, no breakfast, no service, non-cooperating adamant staff.
- 3/5
Great location near the theater district and the moscone center. Great staff but aging building, super thin walls, and the bed/pillows were soft. In addition the bathroom had a tiny sink and crooked toilet that was hard to sit on without hitting your knee on the side wall. The king room itself was a good size with a huge walk in closet. Good price for San Francisco.
- 4/5
Older property, conveniently located next to walkable grocery and mass transit. Coffee and small refrigerator in room. Hot water at all times in room. Temperature in room alleviated upon request at front desk quickly. Great value.
- 4/5
Room was clean, area was quiet. Front desk was not the friendliest during check in, felt like we were
- 5/5
The Pickwick is a good motel option for the price. It is a clean, well presented building and the rooms are good with clean, functional bathrooms. The location is a positive and a negative. It is very close to Union Square so trams are very easy and convenient. This also puts it 1.5 blocks from “The Tenderloin” which appears to be a ghetto with numerous drug addicts all over the sidewalk. Do not walk north east of Market and 5th street.
- 4/5
Room was small and outdated. No parking available, had to pay for parking across the street.
- 1/5
Desk personel were very nice, but overall did not make up for the poor conditions of the room at all.
- 5/5
It's an old building and it shows, but overall great value for the convenient location and access to transit options. Bedding and bathroom were clean, and that's all I really need for an overnight stay in SF.
- 3/5
We've stayed here a few times because of the price and convenient location. The neighborhood is pretty scketchy, but the hotel is very secure and clean.
- 5/5
Great
- 2/5
Property is really old. Location is convenient to Mascone though.
- 3/5
Has to go to cafe next door
- 2/5
Nothing
- 5/5
Clean room and comfortable bed
- 1/5
Charged extra hiding fees. For the price I could of stayed somewhere a lot nicer
- 1/5
So we wanted our refund due to incorrect description of services but they ignored the calls and when I spoke to the lady at the front desk, she immediately cut me off and gave me attitude, speaking in a rude tone. As far as the room, it’s a basic room, nothing special about it. It did smell like cigarettes and the smoke detector was pulled off. The morning staff did not acknowledge us as we walked out and back in during our morning walk. No hello, no eye contact, no smile. They don’t communicate you have to pay for the ‘valet’ service during check out, and we went down and up and back down with our luggage to pay for the garage parking. Overall hospitality was a big negative and will not be returning to this hotel.
- 3/5
My only complaint is that the property is really dated it needs a complete renovation!!
- 5/5
Nice stay
- 3/5
The room temperature was hot 🔥
- 2/5
Kinda clean cept for the mold in the bathroom. Says they have breakfast, what they mean is there is a place to buy breakfast down the street. Says the have a bar / lounge, what they mean is there is a bar/ lounge next door open sometimes... Not what i was expecting.
- 5/5
Everything is good.
- 4/5
I like staying at the Pickwick because it is so convienient for the areas that I need to go... right on bus route 14. The cleaning staff were wonderful. The restaurant is good.
- 5/5
Great place
- 4/5
Staff is great, room is cheap (budget) condition carpet and paint and quite dated, and a bit noisy. However for a cheap safe place to stay in S.F. it is fine. It is not a honeymoon destination by any stretch. But fine for a business traveler or student on a tight budget.
- 3/5
I did not like it because they charge parking
- 2/5
The floor I stayed on smelled like urine...Someone had urinated in the hallway....One of the elevators was broken for several days....I would not stay at this hotel again.
- 4/5
Inexpensive cleaning around doors and carpet could have been better.
- 5/5
Super chill and comfortable and easy for the location and price. Marie was a great cleaning person and the staff was hospitable and attentive.
- 5/5
Good
- 2/5
Old plumbing
- 5/5
Great place to stay. Thank you.
- 3/5
Hotel is clean and nice looking but there is Lots of homeless in the area, and showers are nit that friendly
- 1/5
The iron was completely broken and missing a piece. The shower was nasty and dirty. The water in the was running weirdly, I couldn’t close the bottom to have strong flow on top. The drain of shower was completely plugged up, each time water was staying there to my shin. I am so disappointed and want compensation for my terrible stay.
- 5/5
No services on the hotel but lots nearby. Nice staff old school charm. Small but expected at this location and price point.
- 4/5
Within walking distance of all the things I was interested in.
- 4/5
My main complaint was the breakfast tickets I paid for in advance. The restaurant next door is a separate business and clearly a little irritated by customers with these tickets and the service showed that compared to other guests despite tipping well. I’d encourage the hotel to reconsider this partnership if the restaurant staff are unhappy about honoring the coupon they agreed to. The breakfast was delicious but it might be a better value to just pay as a regular customer.
- 4/5
Property is older but comfortable and clean. Only issue we had was the room warm in the middle of the night. Air conditioner had trouble keeping up.
- 4/5
Friendly staff
- 1/5
Toilets and Bath Tub not clean. No Shampoo or Soap in the shower. Sink Handle was broken…..,.
- 5/5
Na
- 5/5
Great place to spend the night
- 5/5
Great central location. Good transport. Helpful staff. Old building which would once have been very grand. Would happily stay there again.
- 5/5
Great place for a reasonable price for San Francisco downtown visitors.
- 4/5
As an historic property, it was ok. Sound carries and could hear the room next door.
- 4/5
While these things need fixing, the rest of the stay, staff and cleanliness were amazing. Will definitely stay again!
- 3/5
Staff was very helpful. Rooms were clean but outdated. Very noisy…you could hear all the cars and people screaming outside in the middle of the night. A/C is antique but works.
- 3/5
Rooms were clean. Rooms were non smoking but smelled like smoke. Hallways require major update of flooring, carpet is really old and dirty, and bulging in many areas. Front desk service was great and cleaning staff friendly.
- 3/5
The room and entire hotel needs a bit more attention to grim build up and repainting. It was very evident that there has only been attention to the surface bare minimum. The Kingsize Bed was very comfortable.
- 1/5
Very very disappointed. Canceled rest of syay and left.
- 1/5
Needs a serious upgrade. Location is decent, but it’s time to put money into the place. Staff sort of checked out also. Pay a little more and get a better experience
- 5/5
Lovely people working at this hotel. Old but clean and everytging you need. Right next to union square at great value
- 4/5
Bed was comfy and amenities in room (fridge/AC/tv ect) were good. Area around the hotel is obviously out of their control, but the need for them to lock the entry door says it all. Much like all of San Fran there is a large homeless population around the area and at night several loiter at the building opposite. They caused us no issues but is worth considering. Good location next to trams and subway station however. Would I stay again? Yes. Would I choose somewhere else first? Yes.
- 3/5
Not in a particularly pleasant part of town Rooms very small Thin walls -you can hear other rooms shower /flush bathrooms Lots of exterior noise
- 3/5
Outdated, but clean. Noisy, and difficult to park
- 1/5
My room didnt have towels or toliet paper in it. I couldnt use the TV. The shower head broke off, and when I tried the shower it flooded the bathroom. Never again.
- 3/5
I stayed here for a work conference that inflated the nightly rate to $373, an almost criminal price for what’s essentially a museum exhibit on early 2000s hotel decor. The average is under $200, which still feels steep unless you have a nostalgic itch for cracked tiles and dusty carpet. The hotel itself felt fairly safe, but the block around it was rough. Let’s just say “street activity” was happening in broad daylight, and I don’t mean food trucks. Would not stay here again.
- 4/5
Rooms are a little dated.
- 4/5
We loved that it was so close to everything. Transportation was a plus. Love the uniqueness of the hotel. It was an old buildings but kept up very well. Only issue we had was the parking. Though it was on the property I don't understand why we had to pay as it is not a resort.
- 5/5
The room was kept exceptionally clean.
- 2/5
Parking was the worse. It was hard to find and limited space. My car was moved all the way to the end so the staff had to move all the cars to get my car out. That was about 15-20 min. Was waiting to check out and none of the staff greeted me to help me check out. Mind you, there were no guest waiting to be helped. Waited about 5 min until I said something. Too many homeless around the property.
- 2/5
Location for Ubers was ideal. $16 uber ride to Oracle Park.
- 5/5
Staff were very polite and attentive.
- 1/5
There was an extremely loud machine grinding mouning sound that shook the room all night. The front desk didn't and told us they couldn't do anything about it. And the room was dirty. I don't think they ever cleaned under the bed
- 3/5
The staff at the Pickwick at so friendly and accommodating. The building itself is older, so it’s not a modern hotel but the room itself was nice and the bathroom was updated. The hallways could use a little love, but overall it’s a comfortable stay. It is downtown and conveniently located to many different things like restaurants and shopping.
- 5/5
Perfect stay
- 4/5
Area dorectly across from this hotel is very nasty and unsafe, also it is very noisy in this area at night.
- 4/5
The bathroom door wouldn’t close all the way we had to slam it shut or it would pop open after being shut. Also the lobby was so hot, my party was trying to hang out down there one night since the rooms are so small and we all had sweat dripping down our faces. It was too uncomfortable and our night ended early because it was miserable to try to hang out down there.
- 5/5
The hotel is very convenient and walkable to SF City Hall. There’s also a target nearby and other shopping centers.
- 5/5
The Pickwick Hotel was a great stay in SF! Close to Union Square, transportation for Cable Cars, BART or the MUNI were only a block away. We visited the wharf and went to a baseball game with ease. The staff was VERY friendly and helped us to find the right transportation. The rooms were very clean and great. The SOMA Restaurant next door was also great. We will stay here again!!
- 2/5
After reading the prior guest reviews I expected the hotel to be old, but in good condition and clean. I was not prepared for this hotel and WILL NEVER stay here again. The AC "worked" but did not cool the room at all on an especially hot San Francisco weekend. We requested maintenance the morning after we checked in but it never got any better. The carpets were beyond filthy. I did not want to walk barefoot in our room. The paint in the hallways and our room looks like it was completed 30+ years ago. There were huge scuff marks all over the walls like no one cared and the paint was peeling all over. The toilet looked like a toilet you would see in a gas station not a "nice hotel". The hotel could be nice but needs a major overhaul. On a positive note, it was nice to be able to park in the basement under the hotel and the front desk and cleaning staff were very nice and helpful. Please also be advised that the hotel is near "The Tenderloin" and some routes take you thru less than desirable areas.
- 5/5
Very quiet. Clean. Few issues with bathroom but fixed quickly. Parking is good but expensive.
- 5/5
Convenient location, clean and comfortable
- 4/5
air was a hit or miss, we have to open the windows and the noise outside was intense. even with windows closed you could hear the streets.. older hotel, but it was enough for what was needed.
- 5/5
A classic old hotel. It shows its age a bit but is full of charachter. We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
- 4/5
Historical hotel near union square transport and Trader Joe’s
- 3/5
The place was comfortable but it’s old and noisy. Staff was great well maintained
- 5/5
The room was small but it was nice and the bed and pillows were comfortable.
- 4/5
It is an old, historic hotel located at the heart of the city. While this hotel could benefit from some maintenance and minor tweaks, the staff and service were great. Jennifer was very accommodating, and the staff in general were very friendly.
- 2/5
Very dirty my room, terrible shower, cabinets door don’t close… have a big cut on my leg
- 5/5
Very close to BART, other transportation and shops. The staff was very nice! The property is older but still clean, lots of character.
- 3/5
It’s really an old hotel, rooms are small and totally up for renovation.
- 3/5
This was a last-minute booking after our initial hotel fell through. I was looking for a place in the San Francisco area that was close to the tourist spots and affordable. I read the reviews and the price wasn't terrible. I thought it would be fine for one night. The staff were super helpful and attentive, but upon entering the room, I noticed how old the hotel looks and feels. The bathroom felt uninviting and the bathtub looked disgusting, to the point where I couldn't shower barefoot. The beds felt sunken in. The A/C didn't work. It served its purpose, but I wouldn't book again. I thought it would be of better quality for the price. I could've just stayed at a hotel chain and gotten a better experience.
- 4/5
Perfect distance to ride like scooters to the stadium.
- 5/5
I like that hotel has a vintage look.

Absolutely loved this hotel. It is central to so many things. Right off Market Street with plenty to do and places to eat. The area around the hotel is a little run down but it’s because it’s downtown in a large city and right off of a major square. The outside of the hotel and lobby look a little tired but The rooms were more than expected. Modernized, quiet and comfy. The Kuerig and ceramic cups were an added treat for me - no drinking coffee out of a cheap paper cup. Hotel security is top notch Requiring your room key card to enter the hotel and scan to punch your floor number on the elevator. Definitely would choose this hotel again-it helped make our SF trip better!

Great location for airport and downtown access. Area decent and convenient to explore the city.

Older hotel, but clean, pleasant and relatively quiet.

Staff was nice, room smelt and was very warm

Good place to stay

Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Helpful desk staff. Thanks for a nice stay!

My main hang up was that in the whole hotel there was no microwave available...incredible in this day and age. Otherwise everything else was fine.

Very thin walls, was woken up by neighboring room water turned on in the bathroom, room service talking in the next room and of course all the commotion from the street it is on. Old carptrt

They need to paint the hallways and rooms and change out the carpet in all the hallways……those look terrible. The beds are great and it’s clean in the room.

We thought the hotel was so convenient to transportation, shops and restaurants. We were able to walk most places. The staff were very friendly. The hotel itself was nice.

Good luggage storage service. From morning to late evening. Has a good restaurant.

I was not informed about the additional parking fee until after I had already checked in and asked where to park. It was frustrating to find out I had to pay extra per night without any prior notice. The room was also not as advertised. I booked a room with two queen beds, but what we got were more like twin beds — definitely not what was promised. I wish this property was more upfront and transparent so that guests know what to expect. Unfortunately, this experience left a lot to be desired. Also, there was no one in the front lobby to let me in and I stayed outside for about 20 minutes waiting for someone to arrive and let me in.

The overall stay was good. The room was a bit on the smaller side. We could not hear our neighbor except if you were in the bathroom. You could hear very clearly the neighbors conversations and other things.

We had an idea that the hotel wouldn't be a 5 star resort, but the photos online are misleading. The "superior" rooms are not titled correctly, they are dated and things were broken and things that were repaired were done incorrectly. I would have seen past this if the management of the hotel would have called me back after the front desk attendant put in a claim "I assure you they will reach out" but that never happened. With a major investment and serious renovation this would be a nice place but in the current condition it isn't.

Perfect location, great friendly staff on the front desk as ever :)

Hotel room was clean and staff was kind and helpful. I would consider staying again as the surrounding area was convenient. There were nearby grocery stores and many restaurants. I traveled for the SF marathon so the location was perfect for the trip.

AC needs upgrading but other than that the room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Dining options around there are pretty scarce.

Decent hotel. Easy access to BART

Check in is at 3 pm we got their at 4:30 pm after a long day in SF and they told our room was not ready , we said how much longer they said they didn’t know that they where super busy , they call us until 6:30 pm , that’s horrible

Our room was full of black, sooty dust and the windows did not lock. Really needs to be repainted with scuff marks and cracks. The service staff were very kind and helpful and the beds and bedding comfortable. A real mixed bag, but I would not return.

Property was good, staff friendly. Area has some interesting folks around but overall good, central to a lot of things. Only downside was there was no parking available at the hotel but luckily there's a garage right across that's 24hrs

Here for a couple romantic trip. Didn’t want to leave hotel due to sketchy area. Concert across the street until 10 pm every night. Gun shots. People screaming. Outside people doing visible drugs. Parking area very unwelcoming. Would not recommend here

Very old building, old system of A/C makes really loud noise. Very clean and friendly staffs.

When we got to the property to check in, they informed us that there was no hot water in the building and that they didn’t know when it would be turned on. They said I could take a few moments and decide if we wanted to keep reservation or get a full refund. I decided to check out the room and quickly decided we would not be staying there. Dirty windows and sills and floors. After I let the front desk manager know that we would not be staying, she assured me it would be easy for Expedia to refund the stay due to the hotels lack of hot water, being the main issue. It was not easy to get the refund and a stressful process especially since I’m 8.5 months pregnant. It inconvenienced us majorly and on top of everything we had to find another hotel last minute. I’m not really impressed with Expedia or the staff at the hotel.

The location was perfect. There is a Target and a park nearby. Stops for the bus, tram and trolley were close as well. Unfortunately, the hot water was not working nor was not communicated to guests in a timely manner. I called the front desk at 11pm to inquire about it and left the hotel by 7:30am the next day. A letter was distributed at later in day, but we didn't get back to the hotel until much later to find this out and were too exhausted to find other accommodations. This was night 2 of our stay. Except for this, the stay was good. The staff was very accomodating. The hotel is older; therefore, there are some cosmetic issues. However, our room was cleaned early each day. On the last day, our flight was late in the evening, and the hotel allowed us to leave our four bags until we came back before our flight. Also, we bought our hotel/flight to include breakfast through the hotel. It was a nice way to start our day with a sit down breakfast that was located at a restaurant next door. Coffee or juice was included, and we only left a tip each day. Overall, a good experience especially for the price.

Secured parking. The pictures from the hotel's website looks very different than the actual hotel. The building is old and everything inside is outdated. Needs remodeling.

At that point, I requested to cancel due to the health concerns and overall discomfort. This entire situation was incredibly inconvenient, especially while traveling with my kids. I had to scramble to find another hotel last minute, which ended up being an hour outside the city, forcing us to drive in the early morning hours past. To make matters worse, no manager was available at the time, and I was told I’d have to wait until Sunday to speak with someone regarding a refund. The lack of accountability and support made an already stressful situation even worse.

People are great but building itself need to upgrade, feels like a old building overall

Staff were great room was great except the hotel losing all hot water for two days was a great experience

Great hotel. Friendly front desk. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Good wifi.

Great location - one block from the Powell Street station, both the modern station and the historical cable car line, which I highly recommend taking to Fisherman's Wharf. Our primary purpose was to go to Oracle Park. This is a no frills and older boutique hotel, but it was a comfortable place to sleep.

We stayed there for 3 nights. The room was good/ok. It wasn’t a bad stay. It was Quick trip! There’s a restaurant attached to the hotel for lunch and dinner. And another restaurant next-door for breakfast and lunch is available too. Very convenient! The only thing was the toilet, you have to flush it a few times.

Staff was so nice but can do better in cleanliness. To my surprise parking is not added to hotel reservations so had to pay extra and thankfully they had a spot open when we got there or else we would of had to go look somewhere else to park. There parking garage is open to the public so it gets full fast.
